I loathe the day that my hands stop me from playing guitar.

I had a custom guitar made for me, I spent so much time and money upgrading it, only to not be able to play it anymore because of the neck shape.

It was such a beautifully built guitar. Solid and had decent bones. I put in my dream pickups that I spent six months to find the pair.

I had to sell it because my hand and wrist weren't able to play for more than two minutes without two days of hand pain.

At least the person who bought it will love it, seeing him smile when I dropped it off, he was so happy.

My loss is your gain good sir.

He was super nice also and told me some guitars that would fit my hand nicely.

10/10 best customer 👌

He funded a guitar that fits in my hand and is a bad ass guitar, though, so it all worked out. Sounds nice in recordings without having to do any upgrades.

knitting pain my beloathed...

it seems my style of knitting (english) + switching to small needles and fingering weight yarn for the purpose of socks = lots of hand pain :,)

ive been icing my pinkie finger (which I use to hold the yarn, mostly to direct it) and taking Advil and other NSAIDs (prescription), but it seems to just... hurt???

ive looked at sooo many videos on how to reduce pain and how to prevent it, but my style of knitting doesn't seem to work with most of the tips, sans the stretching & breaks that are recommended. ive been attempting to direct the yarn through my ring and pinkie kinda like a wedge, but I end up switching back subconsciously to what I've been doing since starting knitting - which is, by all measures, very unhelpful.

does anyone have any tips as to how I could hold my yarn so as to prevent the swelling/pain from clenching my pinkie finger too long?

I kept seeing that fountain pens are good if you have hand pain and since I hold pens super weird anyway and was getting a lot of hand pain from it I decided to buy a cheap fountain pen

Almost immediately it fixed my shitty way of holding a pen since you don't press the nib in at all and I had to hold it a different way to get it to glide smoothing and was way less painful

So if you hold your pens super weird and scrunched up a fountain pen will help you with that

Just read everything that's out for the multi part Leo angst comic that you're making, and I absolutely love it! I like the way you're depicting Leo's struggle with his nightmares, guilt, fear and anger, and I'm really enjoying the support his family gives him every step of the way. Oh MI GOSH! Thank you so much! This comic was actually a surprise for me, I didn’t expect it to go on this long, and I ALSO did not plan for it to be a mental health thing. I only wanted to show the family supporting him…but then it kept growing. When I have time, I plan to make a master post for it, as well as some of my other comics, but I’m taking a break right now because my hand hurts and I need a reduce my social media time.

But I am still checking the Dressatello DTIYs, and posting randomly on twitter.

So, I have really bad hand pain because I have Dysgraphia and some days are just worse than others – for a multitude of reasons.

But it’s very frustrating, because while I know they mean well, it’s like my family doesn’t believe Dysgraphia can cause pain and it’s like they just don’t hear me when I tell them it’s because of the Dysgraphia.

Oh, it’s could be arthritis

Oh, it could be an autoimmune problem

Oh, it could be this or it could be this

Yes, there are many reasons for why someone can have hand pain or cramps; especially for pain as bad as mine. But I’ve already told you why I specifically have hand pain; it’s not this secret mystery or anything.

I know exactly why I have this pain and the best I can do is take preventive measures and do aftercare – which also means, sometimes I can’t do certain things, because my hands are hurting that day and doing a specific task will only make them hurt worse.

I’m doing the best I can, and again, I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, but just because I know doesn’t mean there’s a solution aside from what I’m already doing.

You just need to believe me when I tell you it’s Dysgraphia for the millionth time.

I’m not going to the doctor one or twice a year to have them test why my hands hurt – I have been tested before for other causes and nothing else has been found and while yes, things can change and doctors can make mistakes -

I ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE FUCKING PROBLEM IS WITH MY HANDS!!!

It’s Dysgraphia. That’s it.

Oh wait, that’s not true. The problem is also my family believing that there is some other secret reason for why my hands hurt and for some odd reason don’t believe it’s Dysgraphia - despite how many times I’ve told them it’s that.

do you have any recs for compression gloves? i have moderate joint pain and idk where to start or if a site is accurately self-reporting how effective they are

ngl i have way more like. actual scientific information about knee braces (see here) and compression socks, for my compression gloves i just bought this 2-pack because they were affordable and i liked the colors lmao. but they help me, i’ve used them for about a year & a half and they still work well, whenever they get kinda loose i just wash them and going through the dryer makes them shrink just enough

ik for compression socks there’s medical guidelines on how many mmHg of compression to use for which conditions so there may be similar stuff for gloves if you look! other folks feel free to chime in with advice & recs :)
