Do you have a clock in your room? No. What book, movie, TV show, or video game have you been wanting to start up? I *want* to read The Testaments by Margaret Atwood, but I care more about reading Wings of Fire, so I probably realistically won't for a long time. I don't read enough for that; Sutherland will surely keep pumping out books in the series so I'll never catch up, haha. As for a movie, I've been interested in seeing Jacob's Ladder for a very long time; it served as a very large influence on the Silent Hill series, and boy, anyone who brings up video games in front of me knows SH is my SHIT. I also just know I'm bound to like it with how essentially legendary it is in the psychological horror genre, which is my favorite. Onto TV show, I'm not certain. Shows don't really interest me. I would like to keep watching A:TLA w/ Sara, but "start up" implies beginning something new, so. Lastly, video games. There are a LOT of games I want to play, but yeah, I have no operational gaming console above a PS2. I'm dyinnnngggggg to play a ton of PS4 remasters (namely the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy and SoTC), but as for a fresh game I've never experienced, Ico, which is from the same producers of Shadow of the Colossus. It's an old game, and Mom's bought it off of Ebay for me twice, but neither disc worked - they froze only minutes into the game. It's hella expensive in new condition though because of its age... so who knows when I'll actually get to play it. Do you put anything else on your grilled cheese sandwiches? Just butter. Have you ever read a book in a different language? I've read some simple fairy tales as well as the play Faust in German courses. Do you want to go to the Harry Potter theme park at Universal? I have no connection with the franchise, but I mean, I'd go if you're paying, haha. If you had a secret room in your house, how would you decorate it? I'm trying to think what kind of room I'd keep a secret... Ha, actually, IF my love of tarantulas expands so largely to having dozens (which I doubt, but I acknowledge the possibility once I get my own place), a room kept on the down low to others just for them would be pretty cool. I got very, very deep into Warriors by Erin Hunter, but then my interest in reading waned, and I'm immensely behind. I don't think I'll pick it up again, but I've thought briefly about it. The family friend I mentioned a few questions above has the ability to be incredibly aggravating. I love her, but she has zero issue with inserting herself into everything (and sometimes we just don't want to see her), and she voices incredibly rude opinions literally no one asks for a whoooole lot. She's got a strong tendency to try to take control over every situation. Her being our landlord now makes it harder to speak up, and besides, no one wants to hurt her feelings. Don't be mistaken though, she truly is an incredible person with a heart more caring than probably any person I know. Have you ever lost a close friend to death? No, thank fuck. I mean, I think. I do believe one of my childhood online friends committed suicide because of sexual abuse from her own fucking brother, but I guess I'll never know. She was talking to me one night horribly depressed and scared and then just vanished. Bless her, I loved her. Do you know someone who suffers from addiction? Yes. Do you have a lot of pictures in your room? Tons of posters and artwork, anyway. I currently don't have any photographs, but I got this shadowbox thing for my bday to decorate with pictures of Teddy so I can use it in my "tribute shrine" or whatever for him, and I'd also like to frame the picture of Sara's and my first hug and maybe put it on my bedside table. She disappeared kinda early. Aphrodite wound up being one of my most beloved cats and was even the mother of a kitten that same family adopted. Delilah is still alive, doing wonderfully, and incredibly loved. <3 Aphrodite, meanwhile, as well as all our other cats at the time, were taken by animal control because our neighbors were tired of them wandering, even though they were too fucking cowardly to confront us first. I've said in many surveys that I am very much against outdoor cats, but I wasn't then because I was uninformed and really didn't understand. I wailed and sobbed and just pure shrieked like a banshee outside when we came home to learn they were taken. I have no clue how any are now, and that's the worst part. Do you go bowling in your town? We are in the middle of a pandemic, lol. Even beforehand though, I rarely went. Last time I did was on a date with Girt. We had fun. Do you have a drive-in theater? My younger sister would totally go if you asked her and had one for her to use, though. She's done it plenty before. Have you ever rode a dirtbike/fourwheeler? Yeah, a fourwheeler, and it's really fun! Tell me how you got one of your scars? Hmmm, let's think of a unique one. Ah, my shins, left one especially. When I shave my legs, they get unbelievably itchy, even if I use lotion, and I would scratch my skin absolutely raw so often that I have permanent scars. It's partially why I barely shave my legs anymore. Have you ever had a friend who cut themselves? I know many, sadly. I don't know of any that still do, thankfully. I promise, it never helps. If you ever have the urge, I can't suggest enough running where you want to self-harm under cold water or slap the location (like your wrist) with a rubber band. The latter is especially helpful. It's a similar burning sensation and doesn't leave marks. It would help me refrain sometimes. What is your favorite thing to do in the summer? Swim in a nice, warm pool. Otherwise, become a hermit and wait for the outdoors to not be prepared to melt the flesh off my bones. x_x Do you go tanning or do you lay out? Neither, ugh. As you can guess from above, I hate the sensation of heat on me. What is your favorite skin lotion? I just really like cocoa butter. Smells really good and is perfectly moisturizing. It's unnerving to hear "you have _____," but I understand it can be something so, so minor. Of course, it could be the exact opposite, but. I also actually find it quite interesting to learn the Latin roots of the terms. Are you afraid of failure? Beyond measure. Have you been called a bad influence? Yes, to my former friend's son. Not that that witch of a woman was a great person. I'd love to know how an infant can be negatively affected by receiving nothing but love from his "aunt," also having no concept of understanding about me being unemployed and not very "adult-ish" in general, which I'm sure is what she meant. Normally judgment hits me deep, but that shit I just rolled my eyes at.

Day 15

Gonna try to remember thing as i’m so tired and have still a bit of alcohol in me haha

Got out of bed to do something around like noon and then went to gym at 12:20. Did legs today and was finished by 120. Went home and showered. Cooked lunch with was spaghetti with ikea meatballs and then ate. Afterwards did hygiene and then cleaned out a bit of my closet then went out to plato’s to try to get rid of some stuff. Dropped it off and stopped by work to check my e-mail for any updates about LA and none. Also picked up lumpia from Crystal for Traci’s party that Traci was gonna take with her but since I was there I just grabbed it. Texted Angela cause she said if I didn’t hear by Friday to let her know so I did. Went to Goodwill and didn’t buy anything. Sat in the parking lot for a little bit cause I was waiting on Plato’s to text me back. Sat for about 15 minutes and nothing happened so I went home. Checked the mail then went inside and dropped off the lumpia then played a bit of melee/watching videos until they texted me. Went back out and they only took 2 things for like almost $6. Then afterwards I went to Madison’s cause we were gonna go to Target cause I needed more masks. We went to her place at the same time and I beat her there so I waited a bit until she got home. When she did she had to change out of work clothes so I went inside and played with her new PS5 for a bit while she did that. I played their demo game, Astro’s World or something and it was really beautiful. The controller is super cool too. She also packed 90 jello shots for the party as well. Anyways after we went to Target and I got masks and the Poetry by Neanderthal game bc we’ve been wanting it and we figured we could have it for the party. After Target, went back to my place and heated up Crystal’s lumpia and then we went to Traci’s.

When we got there, it was just Traci, Jacob, Joanna and Hayden. We just chilled for a bit with some jello shots until Roland, Brandon and couple others (Traci’s friend and sister, and then Lorenzo really later) showed up. Was a good time at the party, one highlight was I went undefeated in Beer Pong with Brandon (played with Roland and Traci, one of Traci’s friend and Hayden in two rounds, and then me and Hayden vs Traci & Joanna). Then there was this game I think called Fuck you??? where there’s like two teams and the object is like one person from the team has to chug a small amount of drink, then bounce a ball into the cup, then do flip cup, and then passes to next person on team. They do the same, but at the end they have to flip the cup into the other team member’s cup and if they do they high five across the table and that’s the winner. I played like two rounds with Hayden against Jacob and Traci’s friend (i really wish I remembered his name lol) and that was super hard we never won. Other than that, it was mostly just talking and then there was a point where Madison was just kinda having a small crying session where she blocked her ex and anyone associated with him which was super hard for her. Towards the end, Traci was stuck in the bathroom throwing up and it was just me, Madison, Roland and Brandon talking about Genius Bar shit. We stayed and talked about it until Traci was good and then went to bed. We left around close to 2 and I took Madison home first (also grabbed my PS4) and then Roland. It’s around 306 AM now and I got home maybe 20 minutes ago. I can’t even think about how much I drank, maybe like 6 jello shots, 4 jager bombs (first time trying which jager is just disgusting but red bull made it yum), a truly and like 1 1/2 bud lights, and 3 shots of this delicious moonshine that you can only get from Ohio and tasted like peanut butter. I’m exhausted and today was a pretty long day but thankfully I don’t work until 12 tomorrow so I can sleep in.

Hi all! Sorry for the radio silence since my last post. Thank you so much to everyone that checked in on me to make sure I was safe. I really appreciate it! I am doing very well and have had quite an adventure so far!

Here are the highlights from my last post about 2 weeks ago:

- I’ve driven about 3400 miles and crossed 15 states (New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana) and have captured a ton of amazing footage on my dash cam, especially in Montana and Wyoming! Plus I’ve been able to get away with using my EZ Pass for all of the toll roads that I’ve had to drive through! Side note: I couldn’t help but notice the diversity of transmission towers/lines and drove by a few very large onshore wind farms lol

- I’ve already got my money’s worth with my annual pass - Badlands National Park, Devils Tower National Monument, and Yellowstone National Park - and I’ve backcountry camped for the first time in Badlands National Park which was both very peaceful but also very scary since each time the wind blew I thought some animal was messing with my tent since I was completely by myself!

- I was stuck in Northern Yellowstone due to most of the roads being closed from a snowstorm that came through and have camped the last 4 nights in sub-20 degree weather (my sleeping bag is rated for 15F so I’ve really been pushing it haha). I was fortunate enough to arrive at Yellowstone right before the snow so I was able to see the park both with and without snow!

- I had a close call where I learned that the fuel gauge has been lying to me all my life! I was so sure that I’d run out of gas in the middle of Montana, but I made it with a gallon to spare!

- I saw a bear! I was driving back to camp when I saw a lot of cars on the side of the road and I asked someone and he said there’s a bear. I think it was a grizzly (had a hump) and it was pretty far away.

I’m currently in Yellowstone staying one last night before I go south to Grand Teton, then will be making my way to EDC Las Vegas next week.

If you want to see where I am at in near real-time (10 minute intervals), I’m using a Garmin device that communicates via satellite that can show my location even when I lose cell service. Plus I can hit a button if I’m in trouble and it’ll send search and rescue and I can also send messages with it as well. It’s not cheap, but definitely worth the investment since you can’t put a price on safety.

I’ve honestly hadn’t had the energy to go through all my pictures and videos so I won’t really be posting anything until later this month, but I wanted to post an update before I head to Grand Teton where hopefully a lot of the snow would have melted. 2017

A lot has happened in 2017 for me. I started the year out getting incredibly sick and I had my first ever foot injury without being in any kind of sports. Haha. The month of January was awful. Let me tell you. But some of you know. Because you were there for me.

A few months speeding up to March and something really scary happened to my grandpa. Something that I wasn’t sure he could come back from. You guys helped me. Some of you more than others but what matters was that some of you reached out. Even if it was just once and only for a few minutes. Lord knows you all have your own lives too.

My grandpa is now nearly back to the way he was. It’s our miracle of 2017 for sure. I then went to the beach for the first time ever in May and it was a blast! I can’t wait to go to a different beach next year. As long as I don’t see any sharks because for real I may live in Ohio but sharks are my greatest fear, okay???

August started out as one of the most thrilling months of 2017 but within a week it became the worst month of 2017. I had been waiting to move out for so long and when I finally got my chance, I was played and lied to. Like usual. I think on some level I’m cursed. For reals. But anyway, August sucked. But you guys were there. You were. You got me through it.

2017 was also the year I finally learned what all the hype was about this group called BTS. I knew they were popular but I was just so hooked on VIXX that I wasn’t really ready to listen to anything else. And then I came back from my beach vacation in May and the Billboard awards was on. I was like “Oh cool! Kpop is making us proud with that BTS group!” And that was all it took for me to become a baby Army~

In the process of getting sucked into the fandom, I have met so many wonderful people! Army is a fandom that, like many, have good apples and bad apples. But I’m one of the lucky ones that have met nothing but good apples~ I’m very fortunate for that. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. You guys put up with my Jungkook spams and BTS trash posts in general. Haha!

But not just your book, I often imagine us talking about life and how I wish I could do more for you as a friend. But I also know how anxiety has it’s way of clouding those smarts. Turning us into mumbling stumbling sheep who’ve lost our way. But this year you’ve kicked some major butt, okay? You got a job! THE Chrissy that I know can do anything she sets her mind to got a job! I’m so proud of you, girl. This is our second Christmas as friends and you’re forever one of my best friends. 8. Where are you from?: I claim Cincinnati, OH, as well as northern Kentucky! Since, Cincinnati is right on the border, and I spent about half my life going back and forth, since my home church was on the other side of the river, and the school I graduated from was also on the other side of the river, and most of my friends were on the other side of the river... and now I live farther south in Kentucky, so. Cincinnati and Kentucky!

(Which might sound weird, especially to some Kentuckians, because Northern Kentuckians are like. Afraid of Cincinnati, and think it’s so far away, but anyone from Cincinnati can tell you that it can take longer to get somewhere in Cincinnati than it can take to get somewhere in Northern Kentucky. It can also take longer to get somewhere in Northern Kentucky FROM somewhere in Northern Kentucky than it can take to get to Cincinnati from Northern Kentucky. XD And also, half the time to get somewhere in Ohio, you end up on 275, which means you cross over the river into Kentucky, and then cross the river again to get back into Ohio. XD)

12. What was your last dream about?: It was one of my looping nightmares. One of those ones that doesn’t seem all that bad, until you realize that it’s happening over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, and you can’t escape it or get away from it. It was a fucking weird ass one too, that I’m not quite sure.... how to put into words. It was. Some kind of weird ass movie that never ended, about.... idk, there was something with going to a special school (and weirdly, I remember being excited because the school had gender neutral bathrooms, which is an odd thing to pop up randomly in my dreams, but hey!), and then the school year went by super quick, and I had to try and find information for my schedule for the next year if I came back? And then I had to go out to meet with my husband, who was picking up up, and from there it was. Weird shit with. Veggies? and fruits, and harvesting, and buses and cars that would fall apart, and I had to build my own vehicle-slash-house, except there was some kind of weird ass thing where I’d suddenly fly high into the sky, like I was bouncing, and I’d have to try and come back down to where I’d been, but I had zero control over it, and.

Like I said, really fucking weird, and it doesn’t sound too bad, until. It kept repeating. And I was dealing with realizing I was stuck in it and it wouldn’t end and I couldn’t get out, and partially waking up and realizing I couldn’t move either, cause freaking sleep paralysis, and then slipping back into it and realizing I was stuck, and. Yeah.

It’s weird to think about but i can make a decision to leave this country and be back in the United States in only a couple days. I could be home in a couple days. This could all be over in a couple days. I am counting down the days until august 16th when I don’t have to live with a family and 56 other Americans anymore. I would prefer to be on my own in some random liberian city. On my own or with a single other person.

these past couple weeks haven’t been good. And I know the next 6 won’t be either. Some random guy sent me a video of him sucking his buddy off for me to jerk off to in Africa. It popped up while my host sister was scrolling through my phone and she gasped and I grabbed the phone as quickly as I could and thought “well this is how I actually die. My little sister telling everyone I watch videos of dudes sucking each other off”…I am starting to care less though. About everything. I stopped looking two..three..four times back and forth before crossing the street. I just glance. I am starting to sleep more. Starting to listen to sadder music. Everything i do is starting to take more and more effort. I stay in my room more and am starting to miss everyone and everything. To the point that I can’t think about it too much because I am afraid of what will happen if I do. Everything I love is so far away.

I pretend to myself it’s all good and I say it out loud constantly to make it real. I left ohio for nyc in part because I felt too small in ohio. I left nyc for Africa to feel small again. In truth, my life isn’t at all important and I have to remind myself that I am putting my body in a place to be of use…I at least want to be of use. I didn’t know I’d feel this small though. It’s all good. I think it has to be all good. Because if it wasn’t all good I would fall and keep falling and there would be nothing but falling and it would be an endless falling. So it’s all good.

I ran into a group of British volunteers on the main road of kakata. I tell them to grab a drink with me sometime and it has been the highlight of these past couple weeks. being forced into a situation where I have to spend x amount of time with the same people feels too much like happenstance. I want to make the decision. I feel stuck even though i’m not but it makes sense…i’ve always felt comfort in being on the outside looking in.

I’ve been asking other peace corps volunteers who’ve been here a year for advice on how to get placed into a big city. I need all the advice I can get because I don’t know what I’d do if I was sent out into the bush. I need to walk through crowds of people, sit in cafes with Australian and German and Lebanese people and start talking to people at least 10 years older than myself. It’ll help me feel less small.

Small small small. I miss feeling like my life could explode at any moment. J messaged me on facebook saying he is giving up on flying the 747. That he is sorry he couldn’t spend more time in nyc with me. He said he is going to settle down and start flying privately which means he will go wherever I go. I haven’t responded because it’s weird to think about how the trajectory of my life could have changed had he said this a couple months ago and because i don’t think I ever told him I was in Africa. I want to figure out how to make the offer still stand two years from now but I realize how fucked up thinking like that is. I think he may just be lonely in the moment and I won’t be able to capitalize at this particular time. He will find someone who can. Time is weird and it’s a force I am constantly at odds with.

I tell m that yeah I’ve had sex with a lot of men but at the end of the day I still see myself marrying a woman. That my soul doesn’t connect to a man the same way it does to a woman. I’ve said this to almost every guy I’ve ever hooked up with and they all tell me I’ll end up being unhappy and that I’ll come around. I can’t see it any other way though, I think I actually believe myself. I guess I still have time and that’s at least comforting. But not as much as I used to, never as much as I used to.

My host sister ran her finger along a vein in my arm at church and tried to find a vein on hers. She couldn’t and said she wants to go to America with me and put bleach on her arm so she can find her veins. I’m really nothing to aspire to I tell her and say that she’s beautiful the way she is but I know it doesn’t matter. It never matters once the damage is already done and now I can’t look at her without feeling sad. The first day I met her I told her I used to live in nyc where all the buildings went up into the clouds and now I am wondering why.. i might as well as laughed and said haha look where I get to go back to after I leave your country sucks to be you. The damage is done and now I have to spend the next two years figuring out how to find meaning in every accident I’ve dealt to everyone I’ve met.

Today I bumped a parked car when trying to pull out of a paralell parking spot. Both cars were scratched, but no dents. My car was in worse shape than hers, and I took mine to an auto body shop to get a quote on what it would cost to repair the scratch. The quote I got was $671.23. The lady (who was sitting in her car when I bumped her) said she was going to have to have the whole bumper replaced... even though it was just a scratch about 3 inches long.
