This is an extremely belated introduction...but better late than never?
My name is ambivalens here, but I also go by mads999. I’m a grad student who loves, in my (sadly) increasingly rare free time, to dabble in fandom!
If you want to check out my writing, this is where to go. As a warning, my content is typically explicit in nature, contains mature language, and exercises the hyphen with possibly gratuitous frequency. Also, I love angry protagonists :D

I just realized that the ship name of Albus Dumbledore x Gellert Grindelwald is Grindeldore and not Grindelore. 😅 No wonder there wasn't as much content for them. (There was still some, though)
I guess sometimes I overestimate my intuition when it comes to guessing ship names. But for the moment I would like to read some Dry fanfiction.

honestly i agree with you. people who have nothing to contribute to fandom but negativity and criticism of fan-made content are a drain on fandoms: they scare, intimidate or simply tire out creators (who are the ones keeping fandoms running!) and contribute nothing of value. my motto has always been "if it doesn't exist, i'll make it myself" and i've learned to do and appreciate all types of things because of it (photography! video and photo edits! drawing and painting! writing! making comics and pins! embroidery!). i love fandoms with creative forces and imaginative people, because they inspire and teach me so much (there are so many things i dont know and every person is so unique in how they think, i love being shown new things!). i dont like fandoms chock-full of police who'll tell me i'm wrong for, idk, shipping remus and lily. that stifles creativity and joy.

literally though !! you absolutely spoke the truth here !!
the great thing about fandom & fics & ao3 is that we’re making material we want !!! not trying to force others to make material we want - because that’s going against the whole fandom is a free space thing !!!!!
like HELLO , if you want more wlw fics , which is totally valid , write them !!! no one can write what you want better than you !!
And when people say there’s a lack of wlw fics they meab that the ‘big writers’ aren’t writing wlw focused fics. there are so many on ao3 already - admittedly not as many as wolfstar because s & r have much more background than marlene and dorcas , for example. And fanfic is supposed to be chill. people don’t have to develop characters and flesh them out if that’s not their thing.
and your motto & the way you’re going about it is so right. LIKE YES !!! DO THESE THINGS !!! I’M SO HAPPY YOU DO DO THEM !!! and if you or someone who does things like you ever feel obliged to share your art form , we should be GRATEFUL not saying ‘oh my remus isn’t like that’ (this doesn’t apply to things like dark-skin dorcas & plus-size peter - if you don’t do these things then it gets into a whole different issue)
& yes !!! I love seeing the diff interpretations of characters - that’s what makes each story so fun and unique . Like (for example) I like Draco in Dramione Fics and I like Draco in Drarry fics , but ( at least in the ones I’ve read) they’re VASTLY different . And honestly, that’s one of the reasons why I love them.
ship whoever you want!!! no one has a canon sexuality!!! (except dumbledore but who’s shipping that crusty old bellend with anyone anyways - though i’ve read a couple of grindelore oneshots myself) . do whatever makes you happy !!! I don’t ship remus and lily and a bunch of other ships (some in my head are so so disgusting and gross but i won’t say their names) , never have , never will - so I don’t read their fics - and especially don’t tell someone what they can and can’t do. like use the goddamn tag system . it’s there for a reason , you twats.
pls no fandom police thank you very much they can piss back off to authors with an editing team like that *whispers* coho.
tl:dr - stop policing what people can and cannot do. stop demanding things. stop putting fanfic under the perspective you’d put a traditional author. as anon rightly said , it stifles creativity & joy.

10. Largest fandom you read for?
i think it’s gotta be HP, and even if we go into the smaller branches inside it, i think Drarry is still pretty massive?? this question baffled me because fandom sizes are hard to tell so i looked at how many fics there were on ao3 for fandoms i read and holy shit it’s definitely Drarry 😂 (followed by Les Mis, and then BBC Merlin, if you measure by amount of works on ao3)
18. How many works did you bookmark this year?
ooooooh! so i am historically really bad at bookmarks and one of my goals this year was to be BETTER at it. still, i reckon i probably remembered to bookmark maybe 1/3 of the total amount of fics i read 😅 my total of bookmarks for 2022 was 149 and i imagine i’ll be adding a good 5 or so to that total before the 31st haha
26. Did you do any beta reading for anyone?
i sure did!! now… i probably did a ton in like the first few months of the year that i totally forgot about due to Bad Brain 😫 but i know i had an early look at a bit of gorgeous Regulus goodness by @ghaniblue, i helped @teacup-tai with some grindelore, i did a little bit for @vivantesopales and their gorgeous vampire fic, and i also had the pleasure of looking through @the-starryknight and @gryffindorhearts cluefest entry!! a ton of good reading really 🙌🏼

It's not enough grindelore in Tumblr , I need moooore, Im sad
Keep checking the 'recent' posts of #grindeldore and #ggad.
It's not THE biggest fandom, but neither is it dead. There are many great people who love the ship passionately and want to discuss it.
My main advice would be to make more posts of your own about them. It will bring in your mentions more people who want to talk about it.
Before FB1 I lived on Grindeldore scraps for almost a decade. For several of those I had no social media and my friends who've read HP did not care for the ship. When I opened my old grindeldore account the fandom was much smaller. So the amount of people and content I see now seems a lot to me.

MOOD??? I think I should get some sort of a grant. I get to leave work 2 hours early every day to think about the Dumbledore family and yes that includes Gellert, he's married in after all.

Okay random thought, I don’t know if people have discussed and reached a conclusion on this before, and I can’t really remember if it was ever mentioned in the books. If anyone knows about this I’d be happy to know
So after the final duel in 1945, we know that Grindelwald lost and was imprisoned at Nurmengard for the rest of his life until Voldemort killed him in ‘98. But was there ever canonical mention that he and Dumbledore indeed never saw each other again?
So if it wasn’t ever mentioned that the last time they met was in ‘45, can I, too turned around by their relationship, imagine that maybe perhaps German/Austrian magic ministry is too scared that Grindelwald is imprisoned in their country, and would ask Dumbledore to do routine check ups to make sure Grindelwald is still safely in his prison
|_• can I imagine that perhaps they would even have a word or two or ten thousand with each other, maybe Dumbledore will even bring some lemon sherbet for Gellert?
