“My Refuge”

Have you ever felt magical when you went somewhere? A place that you identified as your forever comfort zone?
I did encounter that emotion, and I will never forget that evening.
Since I had to take the TOPIK Exam, Test of Proficiency in Korean, in November of last year, I rode an airplane and subway independently for the first time in South Korea. Everything was perfect. As a lover of night city views and the sky, both of my wishes — to see the stunning sky from the plane and to discover the most suitable area to observe Seoul's night view — were granted on the same day. During dawn, I saw the dark sky just as I wanted. A black sky hung overhead with gradated colors stretching out below.

And that evening, I found a place where I could see all the twinkling lights of the famous buildings in Seoul in one sight. Again, just as I had hoped.
To specify more, the place is called Ttukseom Park Station, and I actually went there for the first time last April with my family. I felt that I wanted to stay there forever. However, I could not express that as much as I wanted since I was with my family, and I was shy. But, of course, I did tell them that I loved the place and wanted to go back another time, and I did promise myself to return, as I knew nothing would stop me.
The timing of my visit in November was great as I was going through a difficult time in my life. I was not motivated, and both my physical and mental health were not in a good situation. Even though I transferred academies, my SAT grades did not improve much, and I was exhausted with my daily life. I wanted to give up and not go to any universities.
When I saw that view again, I felt at home. The view swept away my anxieties and kept me motivated until now. I felt at home, in heaven. As always, the big boat on the river and the bridge shined too brightly, and I could not look at it properly. The astonishment I felt in my brain is unforgettable. Words cannot describe that place.

I walked deeply into the woods, where there was a walking trail. That is where I found my exact refuge. Because I was emotional at the time after I took a picture of the place, tears filled my eyes. I sat down on the stairs for around thirty minutes, and I reflected on myself. I realized at that moment that I was having a breakdown, I needed to focus on myself. So, I plan to travel more tomorrow before I go to the airport. To focus on myself instead of studying just for one day. However, That did not satisfy me as to how the view struck me.

My trip was short and busy, yet filled with happiness. I was proud of myself for going out and taking my time traveling alone. Though it was my first time, and I was alone, I enjoyed it very much; I did not want to ride the plane and stay there forever. That is not it, I learned to give myself at least one day when I am not well, whatever happens. Being healthy is the top priority."

Types of Pastries in Bread and pastry productions~.
1.Flaky Pastry.
-Flaky pastry, also known as quick pastry, blitz pastry or rough puff, is a light and thin unleavened pastry that is similar to, but distinct from, puff pastry. It is often called quick pastry or blitz pastry in reference to the short time its preparation requires.
2.Danish Pastry.
-Danish pastry is a yeasted, buttery pastry of many layers. Used most often for sweet breakfast or dessert pastries, it's cooked until crisp and flaky on the outside, while the centre stays soft.
3.Choux Pastry.
-Choux pastry, or pâte à choux, is a delicate pastry dough used in many pastries. Basic ingredients usually only include butter, water, flour and eggs. Instead of a raising agent, choux pastry employs its high moisture content to create steam, as the water in the dough evaporates when baked, puffing the pastry.
4.Filo/Phyllo Pastry.
-Filo or phyllo is a very thin unleavened dough used for making pastries such as baklava and börek in Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. Filo-based pastries are made by layering many sheets of filo brushed with oil or butter; the pastry is then baked.
5.Short Crust Pastry.
-Shortcrust pastry is a type of pastry often used for the base of a tart, quiche, pie, or flan. Shortcrust pastry can be used to make both sweet and savory pies such as apple pie, quiche, lemon meringue or chicken pie. Shortcrust pastry recipes usually call for twice as much flour as fat by weight.

Was in a slump for a month(😐). We had preboards which didn't go too bad, and the farewell. That's goodbye to school. Been debating my next step, whether or not to go to uni that is. Seeing everyone else all sorted out is more than a bit saddening and downright demoralising. Also, been going through a real roller coaster of emotional ups and downs, and by that, I mean really messed up. Doctors say it's all gonna end with time, and I'm like...waiting? Also, I've been focusing on my writing a big. Sorry for all the info dumping. And today

Long Life Realization
(Reflection Essay)
First and foremost, my life is like a roller coasters that has a ups and down; has full of challenges that takes me to be a strong man. Learnings and realization are the one who help me to see something that is different from what I know on my own perspective. From what I gained to the challenges that I faced, it could be in social, spiritual, physical, as well as on emotional.
As Grade 12 students, I have subjects that tells me to be more open in political participation and in political world. Philippine Politics and Governance(PPG) teach me a lot about politics wherein 1 of the lesson that i cannot forgot is the saying of Aristotle. Aristotle says that through political participation we can achieve a good life; thru that saying, I realized that I should be more open as the time goes by, since back then I don't have any concern about political participation and after that, PPG subjects serve as a eyes for me to see the political situation of our country.
Other than that, I also have an experience that brings realization in my love life. As of my age right now at 17, I also experience the different kinds of love in my life whether it would be from my family, friends and many more. However, a kind of love that gives me more learning & realization is from my schoolmates that gives a trauma in Me. The love that he gave to me is like a tangled rope that cause a unserious relationship that we had. Additionally, the most difficult thing that he done to me is that, he used to reason out his Sister's message even though, he was the one who did that; by that, I feel so many uncontrollable feelings. My heart feels like a broken glass, wherein I'm trying to fix it but I can't.
Furthermore, because of the trauma that last in me, in every relationship that I have recently I always do the conclusion every time my partner and I has a circumstances that we face even though, i don't have evidence that I can prove to myself.
Lastly, there experiences that brings me a lot of realization and helps me to be more strategic thinker, that to intuitive thinking since mostly when I make decision, I always end up up for being intuitive. But because of those experiences that I've encounter in my life, it teach me and I realize that everything should be explained, not just concluding for no reason at all. Nonetheless, being a person that has a open mind for everything that is done by myself is a great contribution to my personality, since it will help me to be practical on the things that I encounter.

To: My dearest home
-Ayeon Jeong
The picture above is taken during my first birthday in Cebu. Though I am a foreigner in this place, I recognize this place as my native town or hometown. It is not only because of the long time I grew up in this place but because of the comfort and attachment I have. I was born in 2005, and I migrated to the Philippines in 2008; it is 2024 now, which means that I lived here most of my existence. Although I am not planning to live here anymore, I know I will return, and when I need a place to refresh, it will be here.
Living in this place was full of enjoyment from then till now. The wide places in the village for me to run and play, the school that I attended from the beginning, the amazing people I met. One thing that I agree with people's comment is the generous Filipinos. Personally, I like the food as well and the festivals that everyone enjoys and participate. Moreover, rather than the places and people, I really loved the fresh air of this place and the city view at night.
We do not call it a life without any challenges, right? despite the good times, I, indeed, had a bad time too, and some negative thoughts about this place. Firstly, the weather that is too hot sometimes, so if you are a traveler, it will be suggested to check the temperature before visiting. Cebu, also, is not clean in most of the places. Regarding the fresh air, the roads, forests, and the sea are polluted moderately. Lastly, is the fact that the city is a newly developing country.
As written above, I am planning to leave this place. However, it does not feel easy as leaving my hometown is like going on a travel without my personal belongings. I do feel like I will be homesick when I transfer because of how I am attached to the place and friends, but I know I must. I should for my education, job, my future.
Overall, all I can say is I am glad that I migrated. Even if I would not be breathing the air of this place for some time, the image of it will be vivid. Cebu City is not just a place where I lived, but a place where I learned new values. It is the place where I became myself. Although I have some bad memories and factors that I do not like, I can never outstand the fact that I love this place till I leave the world.

Irene as Hardworking
(Reaction to Personal Narrative)
Irene's personal narrative are full of dedication of what she was doing to get herself best of the best in academics.
She Soar like an eagle, she said. Being a student like Irene is a full of hardworks in evrything that she have done for her to be proud her parents is a big accomplishment since Irene put all the effort, time, as well as herself just to make proud of her Parents and to have a glittery smile on their faces.
Furthermore, in the part of her personal narrative she said that her parents compare herself to the others and that's what Irene's reason why she's giving her blood, sweat, & tears and thru that her heart started to sink. By that, I can also relate to what Irene's experiences because it also happens to me, it helps mo to be much more motivated for me to be my parents proud.
Other than that, she tries to have better skills and abilities when it comes to academics wherein as students, it will helps me also to achieve my goals, but somtimes there are also circumstances that irene experiences also.
