HOMIE IS NOT HAVING IT. Like man's getting beefy with a turtle of his own species. He’s like trying to maintain his smile but at the same time he’s like “Listen- I know they’re cute and all, but aren’t I cuter? I mean…I can at least do some cool tricks.” He will glare at the turtles.

Daily Banana Swallowing:

He’s deadpan the entire time. He occasionally might give a warning to be cautious of being bit. But other than that he’s just listening while occasionally sharing another fact. He’s much more interested in you rather than himself.

Marinated Fungus:

He’s calling the turtles cute, and listening the entire time. He laughs along to all the teasing…Internally, he actually doesn’t really care much for the turtles. But if you like them, then he’ll happily join. He’ll find the facts about him interesting though.

my mother triumphantly announced she's found my gifts for my name day and christmas. i tried to get her to tell me what it was, saying i don't like surprises and they stress me out, i even tried stupid questions like "can this thing be used up" or "is this an electrical device", but no dice. she was 100% confident i'd love it, though, and i finally said it's just going to make me anxious for two months and next time please just ask me what i want, to which she went "oh thank you, now you ruined all my fun"

because, you know, it's not only about the giftee being happy but also about the gift giver being happy.

except, uh, correct me if i'm wrong, but insisting on keeping it a secret despite the person saying they don't like surprises and that not knowing is going to make them anxious is mean, i think. insensitive. you're technically trying to make me happy, but it's not about me being happy, it's about you being so good and smart and great at gift picking. and i have no choice but to accept it with shouts of joy and delight.

and like! this is why i don't like surprises! especially from my mother, who tends to buy things SHE likes that are only vaguely related to something the giftee likes, and defaults to They're Definitely Going To Love My Beautiful Gift! (unless she buys me funky socks, something i've repeatedly gotten for myself. then she's all "oh my gosh, i hope you like it, i was so worried". #priorities) i don't want to Make Someone So Very Sad by not liking the gift they paid human money for, like i genuinely really don't want to hurt anyone, i hate the very thought of it, and seeing someone be So Happy So Excited about something i know there's a chance i won't like at all is just Anxiety City for me.

why do people never ask about stuff i generally like, man. i always get novels, for example, because i was The Kid Who Reads. except novels are difficult! but i do like artbooks, or books about art or design, or about traveling/asian countries, hell, i'd be delighted if i got a photobook about japan or something like that. but no one ever aaaasks :///

Baker Inseong

Inseong who perpetually smells like freshly baked dough and always gets a mixture of flour and cocoa powder on his clothes as he works

he always tries doing flashy things with dough to entertain customers

some attempts are great whilst others force him to make a new batch of dough

he's always experimenting with odd flavour combinations and funky new designs

his bakery's display case is filled with lemon cheesecakes that look like baby chicks and molten lava cakes garnished to look like bears

he has tons of notebooks and notepads stacked away in his office, all filled with scribblings of recipes and new ideas

successful inventions make it off the page and become real sweet treats adored by his customers

and the not-so-successful ideas are promptly forgotten about and never spoken of again

like the time Inseong was hellbent on creating the ultimate sweet-savoury treat and produced "The Chocolate Tomato Tart"

cut to the bakery closing for a week as Inseong and his staff all recovered from food poisoning

as an apprentice Inseong was always tasked with standing outside the bakery and giving out free samples to entice customers in

he was a natural pro at it with his loud voice and jumping-puppy personality

he'd spot someone walking in the bakery's general direction and run up to them with no hesitation

"Hello there! Would you like to try our newest dessert? I guarantee you will love our new peach pie it's got just the right amount of sweet and sour but the cream in between the peaches and the tart is what really brings it together and refreshes your tongue..."

and people follow him even if they weren't intending to go to the bakery because he's excitement is just so gosh darn infectious

whenever the bakery owner was able to secure a spot in the supermarket for a pop-up stand, they'd always send Inseong

Inseong who starts the day all enthusiastic and mentally pumping himself up but gets tired of standing after about an hour so he sits down in the little plastic chair given to him and ends up playing with his phone

but as soon as he catches someone in his peripheral vision he shoots up like a rocket and turns the charm on to the max

and suddenly he's gotten them to buy two jars of honey apple oat cookies (they just couldn't say no to him he was so nice to them)

now that he owns his own place, he happily gives out free samples if you tell him you were undecided on what to buy

he goes in-depth about all the premium-quality ingredients and careful baking process when all the customer asked was "are your chocolate croissants any good?"

Of course they are. Everything is good here. Its fantastic.

first up is @rysingdawn - incredible for themes & graphics! faye makes absolutely stunning creations & has been making these wonderful creations for as long as i've known her *longer - even!* - her themes & style are inspiring & her eye for graphics is truly something special, please check her out if you're looking for graphics / themes !

second up is @capsource - possibly the /best/ resource for screencaps of your favourite characters! i can't tell you how many times this blog has saved my lil butt (lil? lol im a fat chocobo what am i chattin) - on this blog you can find collections upon collections of caps of characters from final fantasy to mortal kombat (two of the best series ever, ;) ) - i seriously recommend you check out this resource blog if ever in need of pics of your beautiful muses !

thirdly, is @anacommissions - my friends, when i was a wee chocobo in the graphic / theme world, i commissioned ana & she made me the most STUNNING stuff! her talent has been absolutely inspiring and instrumental in me getting into this lil funky world of graphics - i highly recommend her - she has an eye for design and is incredibly friendly / a pleasure to talk to!

so, there we have it ! in case anyone was wondering what the buttons on the blobbo are - this is them! i'd love to add more content creators as affiliates on the blobbo too, in future - so if you'd like to be plopped on there, hit me up!

For November we are excited to feature the young, female designer shaking up the local creative industry with her talent and energy named Ella Taylor who will share her story of creativity through the lens of the global theme ‘rhythm’.

Ella is a creative with an influence of marketing and design thinking, composing her career as a graphic designer. She is a recent graduate of the Wilson School of Design program, and has been on the post-grad roller coaster ever since. Her studies led to a few student award wins, but her biggest accomplishment to date has been the opportunity to find her voice through design. She’s (kind of) new here, and unlike her short bio, has lots to say!

Every month we like to ask our speaker a handful of probing questions to give us a deeper glimpse into their life and relationship with creativity:

How do you define creativity and apply it in your life and career? The way I see it, there are two main facets of creativity. One being creative problem solving and the other a straight up creative expression or energy. Creative problem solving is a lot like playing Lego, taking different pieces and assembling them in order to bring something bigger into existence. Whereas creativity can also be the act of bringing something to life for the sake of it, be it words, sounds, visuals, etc. I use both every day of my life in different scenarios. My Lego building skills earn me a living, so that I can keep making things for the sake of making them. It’s a dialed system!

Where do you find your best creative inspiration or energy? I consume a lot of content (zines, shows, inspiration sites, books, podcasts, etc) but most of my ideas come to me when I’m doing something mundane like the dishes, laundry, driving, walking, or falling asleep. When I’m not feeling a natural flow, I’m anxious or uncertain about how to start, movement is always my go-to release so that I can slow my thoughts, be more in my body, and get into a state where I’m able to focus that energy more effectively. Other times it just takes momentum, a scribble or a note for example. Doing anything to break the blank page, and sometimes the inspiration just shows up.

What’s one piece of creative advice or a tip you wish you’d known as a young person? Just have fun, let joy in!

Who (living or dead) would you most enjoy hearing speak at CreativeMornings? Oh my gosh there would be so many… but I’m going to have to say I’d love to see an Our Planet style narration by David Attenborough on the life of creatives.

If you could open a door and go anywhere, where would that be? Assuming I would have some sort of superhuman powers to stay alive while I’m down there, I’d definitely go to the deep sea. Being one of the last things left unexplored on earth, that’s definitely what I’d go see if I had a magical door.

What music are you listening to these days? Anything a little jazzy, a little funky, and smooth. I’ve been really loving jazz rap recently.

What was the best advice you were ever given? The best advice I’ve ever been given is perhaps the most simple advice I’ve ever been given, and that is to just slow down.

Hahahahaha Sielu has his own room in my brain. Shares a space with his sister on rent. I think about this man so fucking much I swear to God. He's also one of my favorites to draw and a design I am so immensely proud of.

I think about him and all he's gone through and conquered and just this man I general near constantly. He's canon in my brain and I'll fight about it. Theo you write him with such LIFE and he's so complicated and simple at the same time.

But you also have taken such time to learn all I have written on Misterica and Mistericans as a culture and a people that I feel seen and heard and completely respected. I feel like you see all I've done and you just added to it so fluidly without contradicting anything that's been established and I can't thank you enough for that.

Sielu is one of my favorite characters in existence and I am honored to have him in my life. I wish only good things for you funky music man. I give you 1 puff for all your troubles.

i'm honored back at you that i could place 1 funky music man into 1 very lively and vibrant place like your misterica. he's brought me immense amounts of joy and i am so glad to hear someone adores him like i do. even more that i execute him well. to hear he is one of someone's FAVORITES? man oh man oh gosh. cries forever.

there is so much going on in his brain. but also sometimes there's absolutely nothing going on in there at all. i love that for him. thank you a million times for letting my brain do the brain thing and thank you for his absolutely genius design and thank you for your worldbuilding. ✨💙

I've seen you draw fnaf a few times before & was curious to know what you thought about fnaf security breach game?

Long story short- Absolutely love the visuals and designs but it looks clunky/messy gameplay and progression wise. Might love the Sun/Moon animatronic a little too much.. Map Bot too. Under the cut there is a more rambly version whoop-

Both the 2d art and 3d models are just amazing to look at (especially the broken up trio once you steal their parts- just.. they're all heart-breaking yet terrifying with how they do not stop no matter what.) Oh and the overworld- gosh the overworld looks fantastic. Maybe I'm just weak for retro aesthetics but gOSH- I honestly just look at gameplays just to have one more look around the place-! And yeah I think I fell for the Sun/Moon animatronic- ...and Map Bot,, I just love their chaotic yet weirdly cute vibes alright;; also no idea what's up with Moon randomly laying on the floor and rotating their legs around themselves but that's hella funky/creepy and for that I love them even more lmao. The rest tho... kinda meh? It had some interesting mechanics sure (also loving the return of the lore pixel games) but it gives an unfinished vibe? Like they had to rush or cut certain parts both gameplay and story wise. Just- the way the game progressed didnt feel nice and some zones just had no use, making them feel like fodder. Two small personal nit-picks real quick: 1- the thing of putting collectables and stuff that you actually need to progress in the same looking boxes? That's confusing. (unless the boxes had a special kind of packaging- but that I didnt notice). 2-the way some of the objects in your inventory are 2d and others 3d irks me- it's stupid but it just does ahah. Also I heard (and saw- especially from Mark's gameplay) that it has quite a few game-breaking bugs, especially when you cant save anymore after 6 am (which- I think it was to mimic 20/20/20 mode? But it just looks like an annoying and anxiety inducing chore to me;;) so that for sure doesn't put the game in a good light.

So- I'd say it was an interesting take for a free roam fnaf, surely freshened up the mechanics and looks, but a bit disappointing.

Slashers W/ a Soft Pastel S/O

A/n - So this one actually wasn’t requested, I just thought it would be super cute. And what I mean by “Soft Pastel”, I mean being into soft/pastel/kawaii fashion, I just didn’t know how to phrase it. Since there’s so many subcultures.

Trigger Warning: Slight Cursing (I say f*ck)

Also- these are gender neutral, but a few describe you in skirts/dresses, so if you’re not comfy with that, just skip that part or the whole thing?? :/

I might do more like this for other types of alternative fashion- like punk or something? Or a S/O who has a lot of body mods, I think it would be fun.

Characters: Billy/Stu, The Lost Boys, Helen Lyle, Daniel Robitaille/Candyman, Brahms Heelshire, and Amanda Young.

I didn’t add Michael Myers, but can do so if y’all want it. I just think he’d be very indifferent about it...didn’t think that would be very fun to read.

Billy Loomis + Stu Macher

Stu would be the most like into your outfits

Billy? Not so much. he just thinks you look cute in everything.

but if you did more guro-kawaii looks? they would both be all over that shit.

it combines more of the grotesque in with the cute- which is just perfect for the boys. they get to see you dawned in all sorts of blood, guts/gore, bandage patterns/aesthetics.

and maybe even tying in different monster-ish elements.

like wearing funky white or other unnatural colored contacts, really intense makeup(especially around the eyes), and fuck it, maybe you’re wearing faux demon horns.

I think they’d find it kinda hot. if we’re being perfectly honest here.

Now- would you able to get them into it as well?

Stu will ask you, with excitement reverberating throughout out his body and his voice. of course he want’s to at least try it!

so many clips in Stu’s hair. you haven’t even had that many in your hair before!

he may also wear rings sometimes. he thinks all the colors and designs are just so fun!

and on the other hand...

Billy, the guy that basically wore the same outfit for an entire movie? who’s closet only contains jeans and white t-shirts? trying out your style? i don’t think so lol

if you do- somehow- get him to try...

then you might have pressured him into it a bit? very jokingly, of course.

“C’mon, humor me, babe. Stu’s already dressed and everything!” You try giving him puppy eyes to seal the deal.

“Fine!” Billy says, grabbing the garment and a few clips from your hands. He shuts the door too harshly behind him.

A short silence is shared, before you and Stu burst out laughing. “Do you think he’s mad at us?” You’re hardly able to get it out. Of course he was, but in his own odd way appreciated this adventure.

He comes back a moment later, his white t-shirt replaced with a pastel red one, an especially gory character printed on the front. and a red clip barely hanging on to one of the side pieces of hair in front of his face. You try to suppress a giggle at Billy’s messily put together look.

for the love of gosh- don’t actually laugh when he appears. he is very outside of his comfort zone, and he’s only doing this because he loves you and Stu, and just,, don’t add this to his list of reasons not to try new things.

The Lost Boys

the comparison between their dark, punk-ish style and then the sweet baby pinks and blues, and soft lavenders that adorned your form??

it’s just too sweet.

they are completely enamored by your style- even if certain vampires (and I’m not naming any names, but I definitely mean David) may not show his love for your look as openly

Marko- he’d get one cutesy patch for his jacket, so he has like a little piece of you everywhere he goes. also...he genuinely ended up really digging your style? but not enough to abandon his punk look completely. he is still totally dedicated to that.

the other boys will absolutely mess with him about the patch though

all in good fun!

David’s not letting you near his hair with any extra clips or accessories.

Dwayne enjoys the quiet intimacy shared between the two of you. just sitting together, you might be styling his hair( super loose ponytail or braid- admit it, it would be so cute! and helpful so his hair isn’t always in his face!)...anyways, you’d use a colorful hair tie, and a few clips to help pin back his hair.

he probably won’t go out with the clips in, but if it’s just the five of you at the cave? he’ll keep it in until it’s time to sleep.

he loves seeing how happy and accomplished you look after finishing with his hair tho.

Paul is hands down the most likely to get into the whole look and go out in public with it on.

makeup? hell yeah. it won’t be as intense as yours, and he probably only does the eyes and maybe some shine. sparkly vampire time

hair accessories? all of them

would try combining his look with yours, to have a perfect mess of it.

a light, light blue mesh top, slightly darker blue jacket(with slight accents in pink, purple, white or black), and his usual sort of white jeans(?) would still look great with it. he’s absolutely rocking that look.

you are ecstatic to finally have someone else to share your passion with! (much harder to find similar folks when you’re a vampire,,)

Helen Lyle

she’s so used to the plain life around her, and she’d been living before you- you were such a breath of fresh air.

of course, you’re darling personality also drew her into you- but your fashion sense? it fascinated her.

she’s not trying it herself anytime soon, but she appreciates the fact that you enjoy it.

the most she would ever try is a very natural makeup look. and a coat or two of a pastel color of her choice.

she would love watching you get ready. not so much help out though- she just likes seeing the way you approach things. how you choose to pair certain pieces with one another.

she’ll ask questions to better understand your interests! not that it’s weird or wrong that you’re into it, she’s just a very inquisitive person.

you’d wear a lot of blue though- because you know Helen likes that color.

imagine wearing coordinated looks for different events and such. so, when you go with Helen to help out with her Candyman thesis, you might wear candy-themed attire. (of course in this universe,, she wouldn’t die! so no worries of that! you get to keep you’re gf).

if you do gift her something, she keeps it on her bedside table(or dresser). so she can still admire it, and still serves a purpose. fun décor!

all around though- Helen would be very chill, but captivated, about you’re interests.

Daniel Robitaille - Candyman

his life is so dark and gruesome, and he loves seeing you all dressed up.

and while he’s dead- long dead- and isn’t really apart of the world in the same sense that you are- it gives him this happy sense of hope for the world.

because there’s this very small thing, that you hold close to your heart, that makes you smile.

Also!!

even if they’re apart of a super awful, traumatic, part of his past- the bees are just a part of the family now.

so cute yellow/spring/bee themed outfits?? yes. ohh definitely, yes.

As for him dressing up? He’d feel hesitant.

he’s filled with immense joy around you, but is almost scared with someone altering part of his attire or self in any way(rooted back to, again, past stuff).

but part of loving is to take the person as a whole, bad parts, good parts- insecurities- the entire package. and trusting one another.

he has his whole faith in you not to do anything bad.

and so, it becomes a habit for the two of you to spend mornings together, chatting and getting ready. well, you’re getting ready, it’s more for the quality time together for him.

things are little different for Daniel. for many reasons.

one, he has very short hair. so the clips don’t really work there..

two- he only has one hand, and he’s “working” a lot with the appendages he does have. rings won’t work out because they might fall off- and he’d hate to lose something of yours.

three- he’s not a big makeup fan. he’s happy enough watching you put it on.

and then for his actual attire- he needs the coat to cover his insides. it’s also, in a way, his uniform.

you’ve settled on two things.

making homemade necklaces that can easily hide under his big coat (either sweets or honey/bee themed).

and sewing little patterns on the inside of his coat. other’s wouldn’t be able to see it, but he would know it’s there.

Brahms Heelshire

imagine being super into sorta ‘sweet lolita’, pastel/soft colors, bows, the big skirts, all the sorta ruffles(?)

and then especially if your shorter than Brahms(which is really,, not hard to do unless you’re insanely tall cause he’s,, 6 foot 3.)- and he thinks you look like such a doll?

but like,, in a nice way.

I think he’d get pretty excited if he got to help you set up your outfits!

especially if you praised him for picking out a good combo, or organizing correctly.

and some of Brahms movements are a bit awkward, he’s spent most of his life in the walls and the attic...but imagine turning on his music, and just dancing with him. having him twirl you in his arms a few times.

Brahms loves having your hands through his hair. and if hair accessories means he gets more of that love and attention? then yes,, yes he will wear them.

he just likes feeling taken care of, and along with your usual duties, you help him figure out the soft fashion styles, and how to make it more appealing and suitable for his own tastes.

because- as you insist- you want it to be something he enjoys just because he does, and not just for the closeness. though you can’t deny you love that aspect, too.

i can tell you one thing right here, though. you’re never getting makeup on him. he does not like taking off his mask, even if you’ve been in a relationship with him for a while, he still hides his face a lot.

you’d offered to do his makeup once, since he was staring so intently as you did yours. you’d made the mistake of reaching for his mask. you’d usually ask before doing so, but sometimes you’d slip up.

You apologize profusely, offering your arms out to him for a hug. “There, there, Brahms.” You smile, giving him a slight squeeze of affection.

he does take your stuff sometimes.

it’s a little annoying when you think you’ve lost your favorite accessory or dress or etc and then you just realize,, oh, it’s my favorite wall boy again. thank gosh you love him, so you’re not really upset or anything.

he just likes having little reminders of you, it gives him reassurance. upon other warm and fuzzy feelings.

if you’re able to find time in your day though, you’ll make cute little trinkets or bracelets for him. you’ll gift them or purposely leave them out for him- so you’ll still have some of your stuff when it comes to getting ready the next day.

in short- he’d much rather look at you than partake on his own.

Amanda Young

she’s never seen anything like this! :0

everyone she knows, herself included, tend to wear more dulled, plain clothes.

she’s immediately very intrigued by your attire...sort of want’s to try it, but is a bit self conscious and embarrassed to ask.

So!! you start out with small things, and fairly early on you both realize that she loves when you decorate her hair with accessories.

gifting Amanda a pair of little pig clips!!

or little stud earrings- those would be fricking adorable on her!

and she’s just so happy,, wtf

you dress mostly for yourself, but the more you’re in a relationship with your gf- the more you want to dress for her as well.

you can see this little sparkle in her eye when she sees you, and you want to keep seeing that look for as long as you can.

you slowly get her into it. your relationship and Amanda’s interest in your style just gives her so much light in an otherwise dim world.

if she did get into it, I think she’d do more creepy/cute. as a way to sort of cope with past trauma. that this sort of “bad” thing (the creepy) can still coexist with the good (the cute). she admires that quality.

just very sweet partners, who happen to love similar types of fashion

My Sweet Ride is an amazing episode of Phineas and Ferb and the only thing bad about it I that I wish we could have seen more people in full out 1950s clothes!! So I did that!! (Also including some MML kids because I love them and don’t draw them enough!)

Anyways!! If y’all want to see me rant about 1950s stuff for a very long time because I had a blast doing research for this project you should click the keep reading!! :D

Okay a quick prelude!! Not only am I going to talk about outfits I designed, but while doing research I was blown away about the attention to detail the original designers had for these outfits and characters so I’m going to talk about their outfits too! :D

Candace

Okay I’m going to start out by saying I just adore this outfit

That has nothing to do with anything I just really love it!!

I’m thinking I might make one of my own for Halloween but that’s off-topic

Okay- 1950s clothing!!

Candace is wearing a blouse (?) with a cardigan over the top, and a pleated swing skirt.

This is a classic 1950s girl’s style

More specifically its also a classic “preppy good kid” look

Which Candace absolutely is!!

Y’all should notice that all the skirts are past knee-length, which was standard of the time.

Candace also has a neck scarf, a common accessory, and a headband.

Ribbon headbands were still a thing in the 50s but the hard plastic headband was also coming into style in the later 1950s.

She’s wearing a pair of saddle shoes which were one of the popular options of the time among boys and girls

Her hair is long with curls at the end, another classic teenager look in the 50s!

While short hair was more popular among adult women, teenage girls often kept theirs long with slight curls on the end!

Bangs were also standard, but usually shorter than how I drew them

Sorry that bit’s inaccurate through all of them, it’s just easier for me to draw long!

Finally, in case you had any doubt about Candace’s outfit being time period, here’s an advertisement from the article I read:

Vanessa

To start off we have a blouse and pencil shirt for Vanessa

Pencil and swing skirts were the two most common skirts of the time

She’s also wearing a belt, which I modified slightly to look like-

The wide contour belt on the bottom right!

She’s also wearing a pillbox hat, one of the popular hats of the time!

Hats were generally not worn by teenagers because they were seen as “mature”

But that fits pretty well with Vanessa’s character

It’s the same story with the pumps, which I also changed lightly to match time period ones a bit more

Now what made me make my original post about the outfits in My Sweet Ride was actually the hair

Specifically, Vanessa’s hair is modeled after the Bettie Page style

This hair wasn’t actually that popular with the masses because it was seen as too simple, not classy, etc.

BUT it was popular among rebel girls in the USA

And like!!!!!! Y’all the designers did SUCH a good job to get down into details like that!!!!!!!!

But yeah her outfit’s great!! Next one!

Stacy

For Stacy, I decided to change things up slightly and give her a dress!

Specifically, it’s a shirtwaist dress, which I modeled after the reference below

Why the shirtwaist dress you may ask? Idk I think they’re neat

I thought it fit the vibe I was going for so I did that one I don’t know what to tell you jkdshsf-

Okay so generally, the belt wouldn’t have been a different color but I wanted to tie the green I used in a little more

Btw sorry I changed her color scheme a bit

I honestly haven’t fully figured out her original color scheme so I modified it a bit so it would look nice for this!

Pastels were very popular in the summer after all

I tried to stick to everyone else’s original color scheme though!

Stacy also has a headband tied up into a bow, which was standard

And to change things up I put her in a ponytail (with the end curled) which was popular with the teens!

Sklsdjhdkj I sound very “how do you do fellow teens“ while writing this that’s unintentional sorry

Shoes are penny loafers, another popular shoe at the time

I liked the little bows on the ends of some of the ones I saw and thought it was very Stacy!

That’s about it for her!

Phineas

This has nothing to do with anything but I love drawing Phineas

He’s just a funky little triangle!! I love him!

I’ll admit here that I didn’t look into men’s hairstyles, so you won’t hear about that from me sorry!

Phineas is wearing a black button-up, standard.

Black and white matched everything so they were the most common undershirt colors

Over that, he has a jacket that looks to be varsity jacket inspired, which was seen as super cool!

Full jeans were coming into popularity in the 50s but only with the younger generations

Finally, he also has saddle shoes like Candace does

So yeah it’s a solid 1950s outfit!!

Ferb

Ferb’s a greaser, need I say more?

No, really he has everything

The white t-shirt and jeans combo is exactly the greaser look, so much so that most teenagers avoided it to not fall into stereotypes

Tighter fit jeans were coming into style in the later 50s, so that’s also accurate

The leather jacket just amplifies the greaser look

The one thing is that for the life of me I couldn’t figure out what shoes he was wearing

So I gave him a pair of sho-loks and called it a day!

Isabella

Isabella makes an appearance with the first (and only) poodle skirt of the group!!

Poodle skirts, while definitely what most people think about when you say the 50s, actually weren’t that popular among teenagers

The embroidered designs were seen as childish, so children and preteens wore them the most

But here’s a fun tidbit you may not have caught from the show, Isabella is, in fact, a child

(I don’t know why I built that up so much sorry ldksjfhkds)

Anyways I decided if I was going to give anyone a classic poodle skirt it might as well be Isabella!

I modeled it after this poodle skirt:

She’s also wearing a blouse with a peter pan collar, the most popular collar of the time

Another headband tied into a bow because it’s Isabella I had to give her a bow

Standard belt (nothing really to say about that)

And another pair of penny loafers with little bows because they’re cute gosh darn it!

Milo

Okay, I’ve been writing for a while but honestly a lot of the rest of these I just drew directly from reference so…

I did say I would talk about shu-loks here though and I will!!!

Now we know Milo is shoelace-adverse

And while there are plenty of slip-on options I found the shu-lok to be fascinating!!

As you can see above, the tongue snaps down to keep the shoe on your foot!! Isn’t that cool? :D

So yeah I gave Milo those!!

Zack

We know Zack plays football so I gave him your standard sporty outfit

Sorry I just find girls outfits infinitely more interesting so I kinda focused on those skjhgfdss

Oh! I do have something to say here!!

Converse were your typical sports shoe for the 50s so he has those!! Almost forgot that tidbit!!

Yeah, thick soles with wrinkles and stuff were seen as cool among teens so they got popular!

Melissa

Finally, we have some patterned pants!!

Yeah- checkers, plaid, stripes, polka dots, etc. were all very popular!!

I just didn’t want to draw them a lot ‘cause it’s hard sksfjdhgs-

But I gave Melissa checkers because it would get the black and white of her color scheme and I liked the way the checkered pants looked!!

Girls did wear pants at the time by the way!!

During summer and weekends mostly since they weren’t allowed to wear them to school

Short-sleeved turtle necks were also a thing and I thought that combo would look neat!!

Also, converse because it went with the outfit and that’s kinda what she’s wearing in the show!

Hair in a ponytail and side part bangs, both popular!

Yeah okay, that’s about it for Melissa!

Amanda

By this point, y’all are hopefully getting the gist of 50s fashion so we’re going fast now

Blouse, swing skirt, penny loafers (different style but still penny loafers), headband

(here’s what I modeled the whole thing after:)

I do want to mention the pullover sweater because I thought I should include one and I really like the flower embroidery on them

Then finally we come to her hair!! I already mentioned the headband but I was specifically modeling her hair in the pageboy style which looks like this:

Obviously, it looks a little stylized but what can you do?

And that’s it!! I had so much fun doing research and designing this and I think they all turned out pretty good!! I’m going to do more go this in the futures so if there's someone in particular you’d like to see let me know!! I’m planning on doing Cavendish, Dakota, and Sara at least in the next batch!!

Final thoughts: flawless, somehow adorably wholesome yet also full of funky plot twists and angst. Jeresa are gunna be the DEATH OF ME. Those longing looks. The way they keep having unspoken conversations and ending spoken ones abruptly because they know they can only cope with so much emotion before they literally jump each other’s bones... I. Love. Them.

This boy is my arcane trickster that just wants to be a wizard! He really doesn’t like the rain and his reversible clothes to make thieving easier~

Attien!

Funky elf boy of questionable ethics. As I have said before he is a mage, he practices necromancy to a probably very unhealthy degree. His familiar is a snake called Iris. He has no practical skills unless it is done with magic. Extremely over-dramatic.

Zachary is a Mage trying to not be a mage and failing

He is a character I have created for my fiction Of Blood and Bodies, that takes place in the Dragon Age universe! @livjnoodles drew him for me~ <3

He is a mess and a mage and trying really hard not to get attached to people for a lot of reasons. I am sorry this is super vague. He is scared of horses and spiders though! He also kinda works as a mercenary and odd job doer extraordinaire.

MY NERD AND HOW I MET LIV! He loves books, was a half vampire and had a Thrush familiar that could shape change into a deep gnome, named Carrion. Roman was the only true neutral person in the party and it led to some interesting occasions of “why are you doing that?!” because murder hobos.

Also for Dystopia Rising, I was finding Birds to be to warm *his costume required full skin coverage* So I started to play this strapping man. He is technically a sentient undead. >.> but also a MD doctor!

no-sleep 1x09rewatch ramble-essay (all content warnings for the episode apply here)

i was just like. oh i’ll watch a feel-good episode of gossip girl! s1 thanksgiving ep is great isn’t it! blairenate family feels!!! ruflyson love triangle drama!!! vdw siblings AND humphrey siblings hanging out!!! dan’s “see you later waldorf” *salutes & closes the cab door* !!!

& like. yes i DID remember serena’s whole not being sober on thanksgiving thing, and yes i DID remember blair’s ED relapse - which is heavy, but eating disorder content isn’t particularly triggering for me personally (i find it kind of cathartic, if we’re being honest) BUT . i somehow forgot. that THIS was the episode which has howard’s suicide attempt?? and now i have some of the most painful nate feels in the world.

blah blah blah, leight’s acting brought me to tears, which probably doesn’t sound like a very big deal but sort of is, for a variety of reasons (watching things doesn’t usually make me cry, it’s happened maybe a single-digit number of times before + also just my blair feels in general --> she’s a really interesting character but i don’t find her AS relatable as i do dan, or nate, or vanessa, or maybe even serena at times --> so i usually do have a bit of a disconnect re: watching her, which i really do not have for like. dan, for instance.)

i just cannot divorce that very cute outfit blair wears with her ED relapse - which brings me to the next point, which is that blair is maybe THE only character ever for whom her clothing choices and her plotlines are so interwoven in my head (lemon yellow shirt and funky little hat is her mean bridesmaids competitive game day, yellow-&-orange dress is her choose chuck over dan moment, genderqueer plaid skirt and grey shirt is her “dan loves me for me” moment, white shirt with the pink flowers is her get owned by nelly yuki moment, etc etc)... the only other time i noticed outfits is derena cotillion, but that’s just because i LOVE derena cotillion, and date matching shirts, but that’s because i am tuned into all things date and couldn’t possibly tell you what those outfits actually symbolise, with the exception of dan’s pink flannel shirt from when he’s holding milo. or any of the outfits from 2x06 because that is my episode hands down. oh hey would you look at that, i do actually form associations. but you gotta believe me on this, blair’s the one it happens most naturally for, which is very strange. i think it’s because her outfits are always Statements in a way that the other characters never do, except for jenny, who is a fashion designer, so it’s Different for her. what am i trying to say.

oh yeah another iconic outfit is serena’s golden jacket and bright blue pants to the morgue to identify what might be chuck’s corpse. she literally dressed like she was going clubbing and i respect her so much for that.

anyway. gosh. nate just - getting gaslit by his mom, getting reprimanded by his dad for telling his mom to stop being rude/petty... howard was like “don’t fight my fights for me” but nate wasn’t even doing that?? he was just asking his mom Not to be rude, and the fact that nate got told off at the end of that interaction... uh. it shows a lot about the archibald family unit in general and just. how nate is sort of treated as ... i don’t have the right word, but my brain is like “second class citizen”... which is absolutely NOT the right concept for nate but like. he is treated like he is Less a part of the family than his parents are....... RIGHT until one of them (or both of them!) fuck up in a big way and it’s down to nate to fix their mess. i haven’t read “adult children of emotionally immature parents” but from whatever i’ve heard about it, i think nate could do with reading it. or not. maybe it’d just make him sadder.

and fuck - nate’s whole talk with his dad and his dad telling nate that he doesn’t know how he can go on, etc etc... idk what to say or where to draw the line but i have really complicated howard & nate feelings. i really truly think anne was the worse parent (not like it’s a competition of course) and i sometimes seriously wonder if maybe howard archibald had a more supportive life partner, maybe he wouldn’t have ended up being ~like that~ to nate (doesn’t justify anything of course). anyway nate’s sitting by the hospital bed and his dad is denying his suicide attempt at first and nate’s just like, no, stop. this is also making me think now of nate sitting by serena’s hospital bed after tripp, and nate possibly sitting by blair’s hospital bed some point pre-series (eating disorders are serious and i really do think, esp with eleanor being eleanor, that it must’ve gotten pretty bad for blair before she got help - which. sorry. i know, it’s sad but i’m just putting together pre-existing implications.) all i’m saying is some point in the future i wouldn’t be surprised if nate’s just. uncomfortable in hospitals and unable to piece together why. oh yikes i just remembered blair’s miscarriage. at which point do hospitals become overly suffocating for natie, remind him of his own helplessness, etc... because i really think they would. anyway.

anne archibald chills me because she is such an accurate representation of a very specific kind of mother and. i hate it for nate obviously but i struggle to remember a time i’ve seen a tv mom who i can 100% relate to so hard. as in. fuck. worded that wrong. whose SON i can relate to so hard. ouch. this may be a moot point because i don’t watch much tv, but honestly anne & nate is just. a Lot. in a way that is significant to Me, specifically. this is part of my pet peeve (not enough to fight with anybody don’t worry) when people make edits about mothers & daughters, as if what was happening between nate & anne, somehow didn’t have the same complications - i honestly think there’s some solid eleanor & blair/ anne & nate parallels to be drawn. and we’ve been over this somewhere else, but lily & serena / rufus & dan / rufus & jenny definitely have a lot of the same specific issues (parent projecting on child, etc.) again - everyone engages w the show differently, im ready to admit that like... maybe 65% of my problems with the ‘mothers & daughters’ reading probably stem from gender dysphoria, lol. but whatever.

i have feelings about dan & alison, too... i really do think dan was closer to his mom than to his dad for majority of his childhood, and this ep really cements it. anyway. i don’t have any more words and i’m tired. and i might just watch derena cotillion episode because . derena cotillion episode my beloved...

wait wait before i forget. venn diagram of humphrey family & van der bilt family & playing american football. i know this has come up before but like. here we go i;m thinking about it again. both dan and nate have been competitively thrown in the grass by a family member in the name of sports. no wonder nate chose dan over chuck in 2x06 (i would put a tone indicator but even i can’t tell if this is /gen or /j)
