Bug Like An Angel

A short Leon S Kennedy X Chris Redfield one-shot. Leon is falling into a deep depression after his run in Spain, and finds himself lonely at a bar trying to numb the pain. Something better comes along.

Leon stared down at the empty glass, his vision swimming. His head ached, his limbs were heavy and yet...

"Another round!" He called to the barkeep. He was sweating underneath his jacket, skin sticky from something more than just the heat.

Whiskey on the rocks. It burnt going down, and made him even hotter once it was inside. Leon gripped the glass as if it were a lifeboat. As if it were all he had.

Images of Krauser, Luis, Mike, Martin--so many people he lost--began to flash through his head. Even the people that were alive felt unreachable. Ada, with her soft curves and easy smile and ice-cold deception, Sherry's watery blue eyes and determination through the worst of circumstances, Claire's attitude and leather and sense of justice, the way Ashley always seemed to make him smile. They felt so far away. Untouchable. He was alone.

The drink was all he had indeed.

There's a bug like an angel,

Stuck to the bottom

Of my glass, with a little bit left.

As I got older

I learned I'm a drinker,

Sometimes a drink feels like family....

"Hey there, buddy." A strong voice said, slipping in next to Leon. The DSO agent didn't even look up. The voice stalled for a moment, and Leon couldn't help but feel the large presence. Everything in the room seemed to gravitate toward the man next to him.

Or maybe he was just really, really fucking drunk.

A gentle hand on his arm. It felt like a hundred pound weight. Like it was going to crush him. Leon slowly looked up and met eyes with the guy bothering him. The gears in his head slowly turned, and then there was the flash of recognition that made him dizzy. Chris Redfield. He met him after the whole shindig in Spain, when he gave the Kennedy Report. Claire's brother. Him and a few guys from the BSAA had taken him out for drinks. It was a good night...nothing like this, drowning in whiskey and gin all by himself.

"Haven't seen you in awhile." Chris said, voice upbeat but his eyes gleaming with concern. "Just happened to stop in here with some of my men and noticed you. Think you could use some company?"

Leon still felt sore from Spain. It had been months. The pain wasn't going away. It made him stiff and bitter. Only drinking seemed to make it abate, if only for a few hours. "No." He slurred, Chris' edges blurring. "I'm fine."

Chris grimaced. "You don't look fine, Kennedy." He suddenly disappeared, and Leon stared blankly down at his empty glass. It should have been full again by now, no? He was loud enough... Did someone cut him off? Irritation spiked.

A few moments later, Chris returned with a plastic cup. He held it out to Leon. The DSO agent stared down at the cup and pointed with one finger, the word loose. "Liquor?"

"No, it's water. You need to sober up, Leon." He pushed the cup closer, a little bit sloshing over the rim. "I got lemon in it and everything, man."

"I'll pass." Leon shuddered when Chris used his first name. It was involuntary, echoing the way Krauser said his name when he killed him and...

The rim of the cup was pressed to his lips. "Wha--"

Chris tilted the cup, letting water flow into Leon's mouth when he spoke. He blubbered on it for just a moment, then swallowed without even thinking. The lemon was refreshing. He began gulping it down, the coolness a welcome contrast to the heat from the whiskey.

Family...

....

Chris was silent, just tilting the cup and letting Leon have his fill. He had dealt with men in places like Leon was in before. Broken. Hurting. Just seeking respite. Hell, he'd been there himself. Probably would be one day again, counting on his line of work.

A little bit of clarity came back into Leon's eyes and Chris smiled. "Attaboy," He said warmly to the younger man. "You'll be alright. I got some sliders on the way too." He pulled the cup from his lips, lingering for a moment on the way the little drops of water that clung to Leon's stubble shimmered in the low light.

"Why do you give a shit?" Leon asked bluntly. "Nobody...nobody except Hunnigan has... Checked... After everything... Raccoon City..."

Chris frowned. Poor guy. He really was drunk off his ass. He heard a lot about Leon from his sister, and it was a whole lot different from what he was seeing.

"Because I know what it's like." Chris reached a hand out and placed it on Leon's shoulder. The smaller man startled, then eased back down. "A neverending nightmare, right? If we have to live through this shit, we might as well look out for each other."

A tray of sliders was slid onto their table by a waitress, dripping gooey cheese and still steaming. Chris smiled at the way Leon's eyes laser-focused onto the food. He did look like he had lost some weight in the months since the Kennedy Report.

"Nobody else will, yeah? So eat up."

Leon reached across the table and grabbed a slider, stuffing the entire thing into his mouth at once, most of it falling back to the table. He was clumsy, almost silly in his movements, but once the food hit his stomach he could feel himself sobering up, at least a little.

"Thanks." Leon said. "I don't have much to say but..." His eyebrows rose as Chris effortlessly engulfed a slider all at once. "How the hell does your mouth open that wide?"

"Practice." Chris grinned, speaking through a mouthful of meat and cheese.

Leon blushed despite himself. Fuck. Still off my game... I didn't expect to see anyone here tonight... And yet, he couldn't deny that he was feeling better. More steady. It hit him how alone he'd been since being released from the hospital after his mission and delivering the Kennedy Report.

"Yeah?" Leon said, grinning. "I bet I can fit two."

Chris actually guffawed in disbelief. "Yeah, okay. You couldn't even get one down without spilling it all over the place."

"I wasn't trying." Leon countered.

"If you can do two, I can do three." Chris learned at him, shit eating grin plastered across his face.

"What are you, bro, a snake?"

"Ugh, don't talk to me about snakes... Now why don't we make it a bet?"

....

Leon and Chris stood outside the bar roughly an hour later, the former much more light on his feet. The stickness and heaviness seemed to be gone, the slur in his words disappeared. Chris was pleased, and despite coming over to help the guy out, he had actually had a good time.

"So you really killed this fucking B.O.W. with only eggs?" Chris laughed in disbelief.

"They wouldn't let me put it in the report because they thought it was bullshit!" Leon exclaimed. "But yeah, the bastard was severely allergic to eggs, even after he mutated. The worst part was just trying to nail the aim."

"Taking down a giant man-eating monster with eggs. Holy shit. That's Agent Kennedy for you." Chris couldn't stifle a laugh. "I have to ask though...why did you have so many eggs?"

Leon blushed. It was cute. "I was on the field for a long time and got hungry. So I just picked them up in the village as I went."

Chris cocked an eyebrow.

"I didn't waste time! I had them raw." Leon said hurriedly, almost embarrassed. The blush deepened. Ah. So he cared what I thought of him.

"Not weird to me." Chris shrugged. "I pop a couple eggs into my smoothies every now and then. They help." He flexed one of his biceps, keenly aware of how tight his simple black t-shirt was. He was also keenly aware of Leon's eyes darting away before sliding up his arm and across his chest, then back up to his face.

Chris was tempted to hit the younger man with my eyes are up here but decided against it. He seemed skittish and stiff after his run against Saddler, and Chris didn't want to jinx this.

In fact, he wanted to see Leon more often. Just to check up on him and discuss missions of course.

Leon felt Chris' hand glide over the small of his back. It sent a warmth up his spine, but it was a heat worlds different from drunkenness. Maybe just as addictive though.

Still not completely sober, Leon leaned into the touch as Chris walked with him to his apartment. Chris didn't move his hand, and for a few moments, Leon felt content for the first time in a long time.

"Steady there?" Chris asked, and Leon could swear he heard the cockiness in his voice.

"Yeah. Still a little woozy." Leon played it cool as they approached the gate to his building. "This is it. Nothing special." He stalled, thinking of inviting Chris in with him. He hadn't been with a man since Jack, but...

No. Not again. He wouldn't get close to someone just for them to...to...

"Are you free next Friday?" Chris asked, dopey smile on his face. "My partner Jill will be on a mission of her own, my men and I've got nothing to do... We were thinking of maybe playing some sports together. I used to do football back in school."

"I can tell." Leon said, immediately regretting it. "Ah...sure. I could use something to pump my blood."

"I thought so." Chris flashed a thumbs up. "I'll come get you. Afternoon, okay?"

"Okay..." Leon felt confused. And flustered.

"It's a promise. Don't break it!" Chris waved as he turned away. "See you then!"

Leon watched him walk away. "See you..."

Maybe things could get better again.

Shuichi-Haibara's Shadows 4

OPENING

Let's start the dish 🍽

March 3 is Hinamatsuri in Japan, Families with daughters will display beautiful despicable dolls, which means dispel disaster and eliminate misfortune, and wish their daughters to grow up healthy and happy, but that's a normal life. While Shiho's situation was special, her parents weren't around, and she was trapped in the organization. Even in Japan, there is not necessarily someone else around who will buy dolls for her, arrange dolls for her, relieve disaster for her, and wish her happiness and well-being.

In this chapter I don't know why her sister threw away the doll just because she remembered her parents, she can give the doll to her younger sister, doesn't she know that her younger sister never even plays with dolls and doesn't even know her parents, she doesn't even give her a mirror left by her mother?.

Something crossed my mind again about her is everyone said she was killed because she wanted to get her sister out of the organization. Then “why did she suddenly wanted to get her sister out of the organization, when she didn't know what her sister was doing, and didn't know anything about the organization ?”.

Then “why did she want to get her sister out when Akai had left the organization?. Why didn't she ask Akai for help when he was still in the organization, instead she kept hidden Akai's identity until Akai himself revealed everything to her?”. Let's just say she planned the robbery for 2 years to free her sister, if she asked the FBI for help, she wouldn't have to commit the robbery, and could get the FBI protection program.

Then, if she planned the robbery, 2 years after Akai left, back to the previous question “why did she suddenly wanted to get her sister out of the organization, when she didn't know what her sister was doing, and didn't know anything about the organization ?”. Don't say it's because of Gin-Sherry’s relationship. She doesn't even know Gin's character.

If P.S is about the drugs, why did she tell Akai who hasn't even contacted her in 2 years?. Why not just tell her sister?. I have no idea about P.S. This might be your reference. I really don't understand her actions. Her actions were completely unthinkable with logic. Her character really had a lot of errors that couldn't be explained by logic.

Actually, There's a theory from Chinese fans about X turning black, it's a bit acceptable by logic, and the funny thing is that the one who made the theory was Akai Shuichi's fans, but I'm not going to talk about it, I don't want to be attacked by spies. So, you can analyzes about it yourself, or you can find that theory yourself. Maybe this can be a topic of your discussion.📝

Next,

Dealing with Mizunashi Rena: Mizunashi Rena sacrificed her life to return to the organization that suspected her of being undercover, and Shuichi promised to protect Eisuke Hondo by the FBI (personal protection only for his little girl 🤭)

Subaru’s first attention went straight to Sonoko, the brown haired girl. This panda-eyed man is obsessed with the brown-haired girl.

Subaru is very narcissistic, and like to tease the girls. Subaru straight guessed Sonoko liked him, and he knew he was a handsome guy who could bring girls to their knees. On the other hand he doesn't even notice Akemi's feelings because his eyes are always on a brown haired girl.

Subaru told Sonoko to call the police, because this case had nothing to do with him. If this case had to do with Ai, he would probably run straight there. He is really double standard 😏

Ran steps in to save the kidnapped President Daita. Shinichi is worried about the kidnappers' accomplices. He was very nervous and worried. At that moment, there was only one thought in his mind:

Does he need a reason to protect Ran? Definitely not...

It is the mood and feeling of protecting someone even at the cost of one's own life.

When Conan was kidnapped, Subaru insisted on going with Ai, he didn't want Ai to act rashly just to save Conan like she did in the full moon chapter, Subaru always had worries for her. Then Subaru said his spell to Ai "Don't show that expression"

So, I still doubt when Amuro discovers Ai's identity, will he possibly protect Ai?. Amuro loves his country so much, while Sherry in Amuro's eyes is still a criminal. If you want Amuro to protect Ai, he must first know the truth about Miyano Shiho. Will this appear in the next movie?.

Jodie, did you know your ex-boyfriend keeps monitoring the little girl next door.😅

I hope she can move on and find a good man. At the beginning, I liked her interactions with Haibara, sadly her character becomes collapsed.

Maybe Jodie could be with Iori or Camel. Rare CP

Based on the Aoyama formula. Will Momiji also have the same fate as Jodie?

In this chapter Shuichi shoots with one hand (right hand is always in the trouser pocket), but the animation team who can't really understand Aoyama's intentions change it by shooting with both hands, and then a few years later, Aoyama borrows the mouths of Vermouth and Bourbon to reminisce and complain. In the Scarlet Chapter. Akai is a guy who always puts his hands in his pockets (so even if he gets burned, his fingerprints can be collected.) Aoyama slaps the animation team in the face.

At the end of the Scarlet Chapter, the detective boys come to see Subaru to answer the Professor's quiz. Subaru showed his voice changer and didn't hide it, and left the curry for them to eat. Both Jodie and Camel couldn't answer the Professor's quiz. Sadly, The FBI members become collapsed. 😥

In a similar case 17 years ago, Subaru brought the pot to the Professor's house again. If there is only Ai and the Professor, it is nikujaga the special love dish, and if there are children he brings curry. I realize, Subaru is very flirty, he loves to seduce Ai.

Subaru saw Conan and Ai whisper, he showed a jealous face. He eats “Boya’s vinegar”. 😅

Shukichi asks Shuichi to protect his future sister-in-law, Yumi, but it turns out that Yumi doesn't really need protection. So, there's only one person who really needs special protection. As usual FBI double standard. 🤭

Subaru knew Ai was still scared and didn't want to leave the house. So, he came to accompany Ai and the children at home. Subaru was very happy.

Plus couple clothes again.

Sera started to annoy Ai, and Subaru saw Ai feeling uncomfortable. So, he straight took action so that his sister wouldn’t come to the Professor's house again and disturb Ai. Sera must know that her favorite brother always defends his little girl and doesn't help his sister and mother at all. His mother couldn't even leave the hotel to go to work.

Sera is a strong girl, she takes care of the household alone. She keeps looking for a drug for her mother alone, her eldest brother is busy flirting with his little girl, her second brother is busy being a taiko celebrity and preparing his wedding, and her father didn't come home for hundreds of centuries.

Sera, good luck, I wish for your happiness 🌹

Conan told Subaru to protect Ai because Wakasa kept staring at Ai, Subaru of course gladly accepted it. Subaru wanted to keep Wakasa away from Ai, but Ai drag her and was very attentive to her in front of him. Poor you, Subaru, your love rival isn’t Conan but Wakasa. 😅

tagged by @honeychiles - five drinks to get to know me!

1) cold water - the essentials first. it HAS to be cold. like, i will drink room temperature or even lukewarm water if i need to be hydrated that badly, but i’m a cold drinks girlie in general, and with water tbh the colder the better. i will also just eat ice cubes

2) iced latte with almond milk - i never used to like coffee until i went to a vietnamese bakery with some friends (shoutout @adelatur) and was told i simply HAD to try the iced coffee. and what do you know... so i started making iced coffees at home, with regular milk instead of condensed, because for exciting medical reasons i should not consume that much sugar on a regular basis. and then a pandemic happened... smash cut to 3 years later and i need a cup of coffee every day to survive and also it turns out i am mildly lactose intolerant. fun!

3) absinthe - this is corny i guess but i really do love this stuff. when i was in undergrad me and my friends used to go to this ~absinthe salon~ near campus a bunch; it was pretentious and steampunkish but it introduced me to anise flavours in a way that didn’t make me want to vom (fuck licorice forever), and i guess i have absinthe to thank for my love of fennel and also for making me a spirits girl, someone who just genuinely loves the taste of alcohol. also this one time i got mega fucked up on absinthe cocktails from a combination bookshop-bar-jazz club with @rovibronic and i think i will never know true drunken bliss until i find a place that does those again. honourable mentions in the alcohol category to sherry, tequila, and gin, but absinthe is my ride or die.

4) fun seltzers - since i moved to the states it’s harder to find stuff like san pellegrino limonatas, my fun sparkling fruit drink of choice, but i’ve gotten really into these like canned seltzers with quirky flavours, like lemon-thyme or lime-rose-hibiscus or elderflower or CACTUS. they are not always good and the process involves a bit of trial and error but that’s also part of the fun. for the record the lime-rose-hibiscus one is my big fave but i’ve completely forgotten the brand. just... don’t waste your money on spindrift unless you’re desperate. (and there are san pellegrino fun seltzers out there every now and then, too.)

5) mango juice - usually if i’m craving Fruit In Liquid Form i’d just get orange juice but my local supermarket has a lot of fun imported stuff, mostly from mexico (i have to restrain myself around the jarritos display lol) but also stuff like apricot nectar from belgium and, love of my life, mango juice from egypt. i’ve never done crack but i imagine BEST brand mango juice is something you would say “is like crack” if you had done crack, you know? you can get like a little bottle which i will drink in under 30 seconds, or a big 2L-ish bottle that i will valiantly attempt to make last over three days, and both are equally blissful and satisfying to me.
