Things Were Done [List Edition]
I had to context switch between so many things today but they all had my brain going at the consistent tone of "AAAAAAAAAH 😱" for 8 hours straight and now I have a headache 😫
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Self Care Things 💅
Took my vitamins
Went to an eng department social
Did my physiotherapy exercises
Did some laundry*
Went for a walk
Software Engineer Things 👠
Dropped more useless indexes
Peer-reviewed code (5x)
Ramped up on upcoming project**
Wrote some code***
Learning Things 🤡
Basically carried the entire Cognitive Psych group assignment
Resolved to finish my meals more often and drink more water, unlike today, which was absolute chaos
*- I didn't finish. There's still a (slightly smaller) pile of laundry that needs to be folded. 🥴
**- I may regret volunteering for this one, but the assignment was inevitable given that no one else is available, so it's better that I take initiative and learn something, right?
***- Did not get very far as I have to negotiate a workaround with product team that can fit within our timeline, which is still under discussion...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
💌: Yes, I took my Getting My Life Together format and slapped my Things Were Done title on it because if there's one thing I believe, it's that you don't need to have your shit together in order to get shit done 😤

Plan to Get Shit Done straight after school drop off was immediately derailed by compulsory cat cuddles.

Then the silent judgement as Shit started to Get Done

Sorry Miss Hiss but you have put me behind schedule. You, and not me posting crap on tumblr.

95/100.
One of those days where I'm feeling overwhelmed by chores and don't know where to start. You ever have those days? You feel kind of paralyzed and end up doing nothing, right? I'm finding what helps me is to start in the corner of the kitchen with dishes and go from there.
First, I clear off my drying rack area:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wasn't bad today, just a couple of things. The mug stays there; it's what I put cutlery in to dry. The yogurt container is for compost.
Next, I have to finish filling up my dishwasher and running it.
Tumblr media
I got a new countertop mini-dishwasher recently because my old dishwasher stopped working and I couldn't keep up with hand-washing. The old dishwasher is pretty old--over 15 years old, probably. I didn't think it was worth getting repaired. However, I wasn't sure I wanted a new full-size dishwasher to replace it. My eldest child just went off to university this year and my youngest child is only with me part-time. The rest of the time I'm by myself. Do I really need a full-size dishwasher for 1.5 people? Also, I'm really thinking ahead to possibly downsizing at some point. Plus, I didn't want to deal with having to get a plumber to install a new unit at this time. So, I decided to try this cute little thing. It was on sale. (I can't remember the price off the top of my head, I think it came to about $300 CAD including taxes and shipping?) Jury is still out on whether it was a good buy. It's VERY small. But I knew it would be mainly for dishes and cutlery, not pots and pans. I'm okay with hand-washing a few things, just needed a little extra helping hand so I wasn't drowning in dishes every day. So from that standpoint, it's fulfilling its purpose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lol, I know the before and after pics look the same but I DID squeeze a few more things into the dishwasher. What's left is mostly things that just need to be rinsed out: my Turkish coffee pot and French press, a pot I steamed veggies in, a takeout container that will go in the trash.
In clearing off the stovetop I discovered I still had about a half cup of coffee left in the French press. Woohoo! Yay me! ☕
In the sink I have: a cat food tin and a meat tray (the brown stuff is just coffee grounds). These go in recycling but I like to wash things out before putting in the recycling bin so that things don't get stinky in there because a) stinky recycling is 🤢 and b) it won't attract raccoons and rats that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I have to take a break from dishes for a minute to deal with laundry. I had put this laundry outside to dry the other day but I want to run it through air fluff in the dryer to suck out lint and soften the fabric up a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That big box with what looks like a little doorway is what the mini-dishwasher came in. My cat loves it! His own personal little fort. 😆 I guess I'm keeping it for now.
Here he is enjoying his privacy:
Tumblr media
Ok, back to the kitchen, I have a pot roast I wanted to put in the crockpot for dinner. Hopefully it's not too late!
Oops! I forgot about the max 10 photos per post. Stay tuned for my next post if you want to see the pot roast!

June Goals 2022 | Monthly Goals
So, May was busy.  With family visiting towards the end of the month, it was quite the race to get the work finished on our house before they arrived.  Shockingly, it got done!  Our house is looking awesome, family came, lots of events and activities were undertaken and then we got a week of recovery from all the people-ing 😀  Overall, a busy and enjoyable month. Last Month’s Goals Let’s look at…

BEST. ALARM. TONE. EVER (I think, I need to put it through some decent use yet)
One of the tactics I mentioned in previous post is to set alarms throughout the day to check in that I am on task/on track with the day's to do list and goals (and not rambling on the internet/Extremely Online - guilty as charged 😅🚔) Rambling is all well and good sometimes (and may help one get things off their chest), but a girl needs to also be able to Get Things Done now and then
This was suggested to me by my current HIP* and at first I was like (in my head) "psh, as if that'll do anything. I'll just ignore it like my brain has apparently learnt to do with all my other alarms 🤡" - but then I realized it for the genius it is, because it doesn't have to be the same alarm tone as my usual meds alarms (I don't really use morning wake up alarms bc I wake up every morning before 5am anyway) and nap wake-up alarms.
Also can i just say i am loving this new thing I've started doing just today of using the heck out of asterisk notes?? Though with how I coded my blog throughout the years I'm not sure if tags are even visible outside of the dashboard
This song works great for me cos it's just so straight up in a funny way. If I have any kind of energy to spare I kind wanna roast myself for not getting my shit done lol. Until nap/zombie time cos then Shit definitely Ain't Gettin' Done (life on antipsychotics amirite fellow neurodivergents/psychotics)
And with that it's meds breakfast time please excuse me

9/100.
So here's a new thing I'm going to try. I'm going to revisit every post from my first round of 100 days and delete each one as I process them. Firstly, because I think it's a good idea to go back and review your past self and the progress (if any) you've made. Maybe there are some useful insights to be gained. Secondly, because the posts in this blog are mainly a type of to-do list that served their purpose in the moment and do not need to live on forever on the Internet.
I've already deleted my very first post in which I introduced myself (middle-aged single mother of two; hi, nice to meet you, welcome to my 100 Days of Productivity blog) and stream-of-consciousness listed out what to-dos were on my mind. I reiterated the two main to-dos more concisely the following day on my first 1/100 day post. Here's a screenshot:
Tumblr media
So, that first item, patching up the wall behind the fridge? It's been about 9 months or so since I wrote that post and the wall still hasn't been patched up. Why not? Clearly there are obstacles. What are the obstacles? Well, the first obstacle is the patching up part. I need that putty stuff for patching up drywall. I had some in the basement but I looked for it last night and couldn't find it. I think I threw it out some time ago because it was all dried up. I seem to recall asking in my local Buy Nothing group if anyone had some all those months ago but no one did. I'm loathe to buy an entire container of the stuff to only have to use a tiny bit and then have to eventually throw an almost full container out again when it inevitably dries up. I'm a slave to my aversion to contributing to frivolous waste. I think people seem to think it's about the money (even I think that sometimes) but it's deeper than that. What it comes down to is climate anxiety. The holes in my drywall behind my fridge where I removed an overhead cabinet gives me climate anxiety 🤔
Um... Maybe I should just stop into the hardware store today. I need lightbulbs too anyway.
Next, some insights.
Tumblr media
Firstly, the healthy and nourishing food. Jesus, that comes up a lot! Clearly I don't think my diet is very good. We will revisit this.
Secondly, I was complaining about tight hamstrings 9-ish months ago! And now I'm suffering from plantar fasciitis! Related? Absolutely! I ignored my body telling me that it needed some care and attention so it started complaining more loudly so I couldn't ignore it anymore. Lesson: listen to your body, don't ignore it!
Final screenshot:
Tumblr media
"I don't know why I struggle so much with this..." Well, I still don't know, lol. I have begun to wonder whether I have ADHD? I don't really know much about it but I keep seeing memes and adverts that I find relatable and make me go 🤔 "One really productive day and procrastinate for three..." I feel like I definitely have highs and lows of energy. I'm trying to figure out how to work with my energy highs and lows. Almost like a surfer trying to catch a wave. This is still a work in progress. 🏄
So that's my rehashing of my first round of Day 1/100.
Now, for my running to do list. I'm adding a new to-do right at the top. Actually, adding two:
To-do:
Pick up polyfill and light bulbs at hardware store.
Look up "best hamstring stretches".
Take bed cover out of dryer. ✓
Deposit cheque. ✓
Pick up paint primer. ✓
Pick up produce, bread, milk, butter, sandwich stuff. ✓
Recurring:
Do hamstring stretches.
Roll out knots in leg muscle.
Do Sun Salutation x10
Take inhaler
I managed to do four Sun Salutations yesterday. I think maybe 10 is too ambitious?
What's on your list today?
