level 90 at last!
so! about black mage
i've been thinking how to describe playing black mage, and i think the simile i used this morning in chat works well enough:
black mage feels like trying to run with a pot full of boiling water in my hands. with other jobs i feel light and agile, but black mage plays like how seeing emet selch as solus run would feel. look at that guy go. i didn't know spines could do that! you can hear his knees crunch, also
mechanically, it's really not nearly as bad as i feared it to be, even though i don't think i'd managed to figure out a decent rotation myself on the first or even third try so, thank you internet people for the guides!
anyway, the boiling pot wheezing trot sensation is not unique to it, though it is the most noticeable of all the casting classes i've played. i'd say rdm>summoner>whm>>blm in increasing awkwardness
so, while i acknowledge that blm is an optimizer's paradise to get the Biggest Booms, probably, playing it feels like it's almost fighting against the game instead of flowing with it and due to that it's just not very enjoyable, for me. it's got the same inflexible rotation that makes dragoon my least played class despite it being very canon for mitr'a
and from a physical perspective my fingers are not very precise on the keyboard, so i tend to fuck up the routine by accident quite often and then i have to correct it or start over and eeeehhhhhh. and my can't-remember-to-click-despair situation. dunno what the problem is with that one, to be quite honest. brain said no i guess :( that one's on me

the good:
aforementioned big damages, when i manage to keep the rotation on track. sadly not as much of a plus for me, personally, but it's relevant still
against one enemy, getting immersed in the rotation can be pretty fun, until the 5 aoes come, the boss leaves the arena, and i sigh deeply while creakily running around, not casting
lasso spell goes brrr. it's got a very funny sound effect, in my heart
the 'return to leylines' spell is also great. i've used it mostly to instantly dodge when there's more than 2 sequential aoes. you can play around with these two spells
shoutout to the simplified job gauge for letting you actually understand anything about it. sure it's 3.5 things to keep track of, but for 2 of them you get informed about their readiness with convenient sounds and flashing borders so whatever

the bad:
moving feels heavy, even when using the instant cast abilities. i keep lagging behind the group even in normal content, and sometimes clicking the right person to yeet to can be a bit hard in alliances or wall to walls. this class needs to do some cardio
clicking fire IV 3 times, then 1 fire I then fire IV 3 more times is. very boring. sorry. rotation 40 years long and rigid like the brutalism. the funnest parts are the thunder procs and the ice phase before going back to fire and the occasional instant cast. oh you sneezed and misclicked and dropped your fire badge thingies on the floor? sorry idiot you get to start over from the top, but sadder this time
this one i only noticed here at the end, but i feel it's very important, maybe more than the rotation: the best and biggest animations it has are the ones for the ice spells, which you use the least. xenoglossy, foul and flare are also good. amplifier, manafont and triple cast feel nice and dramatic to use. paradox i just got but it's also nice with the color mix. the rest i don't even remember, had to go cast them on a dummy. it's fireballs and fire columns it's all fireballs! the blm animations have a lot of boom but they need more heft, if that makes sense? more flying shit going from you to the target, shit shrapneling from the target, rings of fire, fiery eldritch runes, anything. if rdm can shoot 50 explosive roses at a guy for some reason and drk can summon shields of runes, blm can do something fancy also. casting a finisher skill called 'despair' should look like i'm sucking their souls out through a straw
also more casting positions. summoner has a lot and they're pretty different! they got floating symbols and shit. blm has 'slightly crouched' and 'staff held high' in variation 1 and 2, and that's about it from what i can tell besides the selfbuff ones. add some evil runes at least. the paradox wide armed one (i think you float a little?) is a good addition though
anyway, final verdict: it's a good class, but it's very rigid and inflexible to get Big Damages, which is not an exciting exchange, for me. i prefer to be nimble and do less damage but have a more varied and forgiving rng based rotation. also more utility skills! i miss peloton or having a group shield or heal, or even rdm's rez; makes me feel actually useful instead of being just a giant cone hat that produces flamethrower on command. i don't think i'll play it too often, i'm afraid, even though it's a perfectly alright class, and i'm sure i'll get better with time
HOWEVER. if dawntrail allows blm to throw meteorites outside of lbs i might reconsider. they can be small! even magical molotov cocktails if we must. but i want physical flamming objects to hit my enemies and i want to see the animations do that with some flair. just ole fire and spite booms and a couple icicles is not enough. i want to flatten them

Some great news: character creation is finally 100% done
The UI itself is like 90% done, I'm not sure what the ideal layout for the character page should be so I'm leaving it until I get inspired. But all of the other menu tabs are finished. I would love to translate the settings and saves tabs into proper passages rather than popups, but it isn't my number one priority right now.
I'm currently thinking out how to communicate rolls, both in showing the difficulty ahead of time and showing the dice afterwards. I've been considering a sort of unobstrusive approach to communicating difficulty- an option that leads to a roll will feature the icon for the skill it uses alongside two dice, and the combined total of those dice represents the difficulty threshold. So if somebody would prefer to ignore it, they can.
I want the reveal of your roll, on the other hand, to be big and iconic. Ideally some kind of animation, where the result is an actual reveal, just like rolling real dice. I want it to really feel like playing a tabletop game, y'know? However, I don't want to do any super fancy 3d animations. Just something simple, like the dice "rotating" on the y or x axis to before settling on one face, or even just rotating in a circle in 2d before fading into the final result. Maybe even make the dice "roll" until you click them, and then they fall into place and reveal your result. Fun stuff. I may be able to find some way to code it such that the screen the dice roll is on is always the same screen before leading you to the next passage, so I don't have to reuse code. Huzzah!
Anyway, this means that the introductory story is being written in full force! I've of course already written (and re-written) plenty of it, but now's the time I start adding it all into the game and writing more. I'm not sure how long this intro part will be, but it should be relatively short- then the player is able to roam the city, and the first main stories can be written. Exciting!

Basics of Blender building

I have received a lot of messages about how I build scenes in Blender, so this post will be a quick rundown of my building process. There are quite a few steps, so I apologize if I miss anything. Feel free to message if you have more questions!
1. Import a .dae

I always like to start by importing a random .dae of your sim for reference, just to make sure everything will be built to the correct size and height. If things appear a solid grey or not the proper texture, make sure you have the viewport shading in the top right set to the second to last setting(material preview). Click, hold and drag the scroll button on your mouse to rotate the viewing angle, and hold with shift to move up and down.
2. Start with the front door/entrance.

I most always place the front door first and build off it or position the camera where I want & build within the camera view. Press S to resize, clicking the scroll button to resize along the axis. Press G to move, and R to rotate. 
In order to add furniture/decor items, you will need to export the mesh of that object from Sims4Studio. It will export from there as a new Blender file, which you can then open in Blender, and then simply export it as an .obj file. The .obj can then be imported to the scene your building. Remember where you got it from so you can give credit for these meshes!
3. Join separated meshes.

Sometimes objects will be made up a multiple meshes, which can make it harder to move the object as a whole, so joining meshes will come in handy. Just select everything you want to join, and either right click and choose join, or press Ctrl+J. 
4. Add plane mesh for walls.

The easiest thing to use to construct the floors and walls of your scene is the plane mesh. Cubes can also work for walls, but are hard to add windows to.
5. Add textures.

To add the texture of your floor/walls, we go to the right side menu and select the material prosperities tab second from the bottom. Next click the yellow dot beside ‘Base color’ and select ‘Image texture’ from the pop-up menu. Now you’ll be able to open the image of the texture you want(I almost always just use Google to find textures). 
6. Creating shine/reflections.

In that same Material properties tab, you can also create a shine on your floors if you want some nice smooth marble or something. Just adjust both the metallic and roughness sliders to get the level of reflectiveness you want. Lowering them both to zero will create a perfect mirror.
7. Copy & paste multiple planes to expand floor.

Once you’re happy with the texture, use Ctrl+C to copy that plane mesh, and then Ctrl+V to paste. Copying more than one at a time makes the process of placing the floor much faster. You can also join all these meshes too to make one large mesh for the floor. 
8. Use the object properties for a perfect 90 degree angle.

Add a new plane mesh to start building the walls. Select the object properties tab(the orange square icon) and change the Y and Z to 90 degrees which will rotate the plane perfectly upright. 
9. Position the walls.

Resize your wall planes and place them as you want next to the door. You can add a texture to the wall the same way you did for the floor, or you can click the white box by the ‘Base color’ which will bring up the color wheel for you to customize a paint color. 
10. Creating transparent windows in shading.

Now in addition to walls and floors, you probably want some windows too. For this we switch to the Shading page at the very top. Select the plane mesh you want for your window(if no nodes first appear, just click NEW to make a new material). 
11. Add appropriate nodes.

Next we need to add in 2 nodes; a mix shader and a transparent BSDF. The order you add them doesn’t matter, only where you place them.
12. Connect the nodes.

The mix shader should be dropped in right between the principled BSDF and the material output nodes, and the transparent BSDF can go just below it. Then you’ll need to connect the dots as show in the photo above; principled BSDF to the lowest ‘shader’ on mixed shader, then the middle ‘shader’ to the transparent BSDF.
13. Switch the blend mode.

Lastly, go back to the material properties tab on the right, and find the blend mode drop-down menu. If you don’t see it under the settings section, check the viewport display section. Switch from opaque to alpha blend. You should see the plane become some-what clear. Adjust the metallic and the roughness sliders to create the level of translucence you wish. 
I hope this tutorial will help! Blender skills, like any other new skill, will take a lot of practice & patience, so just keep experimenting and tinkering. In addition, keep in mind the larger of a scene you build, the bigger the Blend file which can become very laggy & requires a lot of processing power. Happy building! :)

Tech’s Day at the Library
Summary: Tech’s day off - he decides to explore the local archive
A/N: Hello lovelies,
This is a fluffy piece for our beloved Tech, I realized I may have not been giving him proper attention, hopefully this corrects it a little.  Plus I’m thinking of incorporating a version of this story into the Reunion fic I’ve written, let me know your thoughts, on that.  Once again, thank you guys for the love!
Warnings:  Flirting, and kissing.  Other than that, none that I can think of, unless you have an issue with books and library.  However, if I do miss any, let me know.

“What are you going to do with your day off, Tech?” Omega had always seen the younger clone, sticking with his brothers, even on off days from bounty hunting, but today, he had put aside his armour, he wore some civvie clothes, and had even changed his goggles to wear some spectacles that Cid had someone make for him, a sort of graduation present for all the work they had done.  She had given Hunter a brand new bandana, Wrecker was given a new explosive tool kit, Omega was given her own mini dejarik game console to fine tune her skills.  
“There’s an archive building 9.5 kilometers from our current location.  I noticed the building three weeks ago when we were exploring the city. I haven’t had a chance to spend time examining the building or what it archives.  Today, I decided to take advantage of our day off and spend all day there.”
“Is that way you are taking ration bars with you and a lot of water?” Wrecker asked from the cockpit
“It is indeed.  If there is flimsi materials, they tend to collect a lot of dust, which makes one very thirsty.  Best to be prepared.”
“Have fun” shouted Hunter, “don’t come back too late.”
“Yes, Hunter”
“Tech” Hunter’s tone was warning, “seriously, I know what you’re like when you get into a research project.  I want you back on this ship by no later than 2300 hours, is that understood?”
“Yes, Hunter”
“Do you have your comm?”
“Yes, Hunter”
“Do you have your blaster?”
“Yes, Hunter”
“Am I irritating you yet?”
“Yes, Hunter.  Wait … what?”
Hunter, Omega and even Wrecker’s booming laughter echoed through the ship, Echo came from his bunk rubbing the sleep out of his eye, “who is being so loud, on our day off?”
“Tech is” Wrecker shouted, Tech simply rolled his eyes at his brother and walked out of the ship.  Tech stepped off the ramp and took in a deep breath, this was the first time in a long time, he would be able to indulge in something he always wanted to, whenever they were on Coruscant, he longed to spend hours in the Jedi archives.  Unfortunately, he didn’t get much of a chance, really he wasn’t close with any of the Jedis in order to take him, and now those archives were lost to anyone who wasn’t under the influence of the Emperor, and even then reading those archives, learning the history that was stored there wasn’t of any importance to the chipped clones. 
“Bye Tech, we love you!” shouted Echo from the door of the ramp waving at his brother, “Play nice with the other kids!”, Wrecker, Hunter, Echo and Omega were all dying laughing on the ramp.  Tech looked at them through narrowed eyes, he motioned to them a signal that in no way could be doubted as to his annoyance, which made the four standing on the ramp laugh even harder. 
Tech was determined to get away from the ship as fast as his legs could carry him, and thankfully being a taller clone, meant his stride length allowed him to cover more ground, faster.   It didn’t take long for Tech to arrive at the archive building, he viewed it carefully from the outside first, it seemed slightly worn down, almost as though the inhabitants of the planet couldn’t be bothered to appreciate the history and knowledge that lay beyond the doors. 
He was practically bouncing on his heels when his hand hovered over the archive’s entrance, he was so excited to walk in, a day at the library just him, no Wrecker being loud inevitably getting him kicked out, no Hunter looking for exits, and constantly being overstimulated by the amount of people reading, turning pages and the amount of dust collected, no Omega asking questions endlessly, which he didn’t mind, in fact he enjoyed her questions, it gave him an opportunity to flex his knowledge, just not when he was trying to learn something new.  No Echo, who tried to be enthusiastic for his brother, but inevitably became bored and would fall asleep in the chair beside him, snoring loud enough to echo through the halls.  No Crosshair … no Crosshair, actually Crosshair was one of his only brothers who enjoyed the archives as much as he did, no one was allowed to talk, therefore no one would ask him questions or try to converse with him needlessly.  Crosshair, would often find a book about the history of snipers for that planet, or different type of rifles used, different modifications made by famous snipers throughout the universe.  He and Tech would be the only ones who could spend an entire day in the archives, and thoroughly enjoy the complete silence between the two.
As he stepped into the archive hall, he realized how much he really missed Crosshair, especially when Tech saw the three levels, and endless rows of flimsies on the shelves, it was as far as the eye could see.  Crosshair would have loved it, he would have taken the highest position available, and be surrounded by the history of the planet.  The outside may have left something to be desired, but the inside was phenomenal, there were desks stationed in the centre of the room three desks across, and about 15 rows down, in total there were 45 desks, each desk could seat four, there were also two lamps per desk.  The bookshelves were made of sturdy Kashyyyk wood, Tech could almost smell the wood from where he stood.  The ceiling had a skylight that spanned the whole centre of the room, providing able light.  The tiles were marbled intricately and of Nabooian design, the railings on the second and third floor were of the same construction of the tiles, but denser providing security and safety to those up top. 
“Can I help you?” Tech was pulled from his musings of the amazing structure, but a shy timid voice.  
“This is my first time here” was all he said while keeping his eyes fixed on the archive before him, he had been on this planet for months and he never knew this was here, he scolded himself internally for not taking advantage. 
“Is there something in particular you’re looking for?” the timid voice asked.

This wasn’t my job, last time I checked I was an analyst, a nerd behind the desk.  Just because I technically could have a double O status, and had been asked by M more than once to become a double O didn’t mean I actually enjoyed running through MI6 right now, to deal with an escaped person of interest.  Not to mention, just because I had an idea as to where they may had been heading again, doesn’t mean I wanted to be the one to deal with this.  
I gave up wanting to be an agent a long time ago, but yet here I was fighting for my life, in a stairwell that frankly needed an upgrade, and a clean, really they needed to figure out what that horrible smell was … wait … never mind the smell was coming from the man I was fighting.  
I had to focus, I just needed to bide some time until my reinforcements arrived, I threw my body against the assailant, trying to prevent his escape, unleashing punches again and again to their torso.  I aimed for their ribs, maybe if I could inflict enough damage even if they got away from me, it would slow them down enough for my team to get them.  
When the alarm sounded, I thought this couldn’t be real, but then when I got the notification, I knew I had to act.  I looked the assailant in the eyes, their eyes were cold, dark, menacing, it conveyed one message it was either them or me.  I had every reason to fight, to keep London safe, and it had to do with a pair of blue eyes, that when they held mine made the world feel safer, happier, better.  For those pair of blue eyes, I would make sure London was kept safe. 
“Down here” I heard an echoing voice from above, they were nearly here.  My backup.  My team.  
The assailant rushed me, grabbing my arm, however, while they did that, I tangled my legs with theirs, wrapped my other arm around them, if they wanted my arm, I’d give them both.  We were close to the edge of the stairs.  I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and threw my body and theirs down the steps we tumbled over one another for what felt like an eternity.  As we twisted, I felt a bone snap in my arm; I went to scream, only for the assailant to headbutt me as we lay on the landing.  My good arm and legs kept a tight hold on the assailant, I could hear footsteps reaching us, I tried to stay awake, tried to keep aware of my surroundings.  
“Hold it!” Came someone’s voice through the fog.
I remember seeing outlines of bodies, shapes, hands, and then darkness.

“Welcome back” 
My head was hurting, I could barely open my eyes, my whole body felt like it was hit by a dump truck.  I let out a moan of pain, turning my head slightly to the voice.  
“You know” the voice continued, “I believe the call was to apprehend the suspect until backup arrived, not to take them on, until you were battered and bruised.”
“James, I know you think you’re hilarious, but you really need to shut it.” I let out barely awake, just knowing his voice was causing the pain in my head to feel ten times worse. 
“Sorry” he whispered, I felt the bed dip beside me, I could barely see an outline of him sitting there.  I closed my eyes again, when I felt his hand brush away some of my hair.  
“What are you doing?” I mumbled out
“Making sure, your bandaid is holding” was all he said as he pulled his hand back.  
“Well, look who’s back from the dead?  How is she old dog?” 
“Eve, love you, but shhhh” I held up a shaky finger to my mouth.
“She seems okay, was already telling me to shut it” Bond turned his head to look at Eve, “Well look at you, don’t you look absolutely gorgeous.  Did we have a date, I was unaware of?”
“You wish we had a date”
“Yes, I do” Bond couldn’t help the smirk that appeared on his lips, as his eyes slowly took in Moneypenny’s form from her toes all the way to the top of her head. 
“If you two are going to flirt, can you please take it somewhere else, I’m feeling nauseous enough as it is” Eve, God love her, was a sweetheart, but she also knew about my crush on the certain 007 agent and made a point of reminding me, how much of a coward I was at every opportunity.
“Yeah, that’s called a concussion, sweetheart” Eve let out, “Good news is that you are good to go home.  According to the doctor who took care of you, he’s just giving a report to M, right now.”

It was six months after the death of Fives, I made the ultimate decision and left the GAR, faked my death and started working at the cantina on Barab, I just couldn't justify being in this war anymore, seeing clones dying all the time for someone else’s war, fighting in a war that wasn’t theirs, it was senseless.
Working at the cantina wasn't like working as a spy and assassin for the GAR, but it was peaceful for the most part, if you ignore the drunkards and the drunken rambles at the end of the night, but mostly peaceful.
It was going great, that was until a very specific clone walked into the cantina.  A clone that was dark and broody, had a tattoo on half his face, and wearing a red bandana, if the tattoo didn’t draw attention, the red bandana certainly would have, but I guess when half the patrons are drunk out of their minds, no one was really going to pay any sort of attention.
It's okay, be cool, play it cool, although I've never met this particular clone, I heard the stories from Rex.  Rex told me all about him, Sergeant Hunter and his Clone Force 99 team, or Bad Batch as he called them, when he went to rescue Echo.  
I remember when Rex showed up at my door on Barab, tears were streaming down his face, as soon as I opened the door, Rex collapsed in my arms.  He was beside himself, he couldn't get over the fact he left him there, he left Echo, and to see what the separatist had done to Echo, what they turned him into, Rex couldn’t forgive himself, it took some time, we spent hours talking but eventually Rex was able to be okay enough to continue on.
When Fives first arrived from the Citadel mission, he had found me in my quarters on the GAR base, I knew.  I knew the minute I saw Fives’ face, he was inconsolable, he had lost his best friend, his batchmate, his brother, the one person in the entire universe that knew him better then he knew himself. 
I remember spending days holding Fives, trying my best to be there for him, I had to be the strong one, he wouldn’t have as much time off as I did, and he needed to be okay before going back out to the front lines.  I pulled myself together for both Fives and Echo, even though I had lost the love of my life, I knew I had to be there for Echo's brother, I would have time to grieve later.
If Hunter was walking through my doors, that meant Echo wasn't far behind, I tried to subtly look around the cantina, I couldn’t let Echo see me here, although my face may have aged, I was still recognisable.  
Rex told me, he didn't reveal to Echo anything about me, in fact he said he hadn’t told him much about what he had missed, but then again Echo didn't ask.  I couldn't reach out, everyone thought I was dead, and if he had mentioned to someone that I wasn’t or that I had faked my death, not that I didn’t trust Echo, I just couldn’t take the risk.  I convinced myself it was better this way, that eventually he would understand, but would he really?  He already lost so much to the separatist, was I any better in making him think he lost one more thing that connected him to humanity?  To think he lost my love?  Please oh maker, please don't let Echo come in. 
I watched as Hunter walked over to one of the waiters, 'calm yourself, just breathe, you've lied before, this is just another op, just another mission', and who knows maybe he won’t come to talk to you, you're the bartender people come and ask about drinks, they don’t come to have a chat with you, not usually anyways. I was busy attending to another patron, keeping myself out of Hunter’s view, maybe if I was too busy he wouldn't come to me, maybe he would go and ask someone else.
"Excuse me?" Hunter's voice cut through my thoughts like a sharpened vibroblade, he had snuck up to the counter and was now standing to the side of me, before directing my attention to him I quickly scanned the room, no new people.
'Okay, remember it's a mission and breathe, remember Rex said he had heightened senses', "Yes, sir” my voice was calm, my nerves and heart beat were all calm, “what can I get you?" I gave him my best bartender smile.
"I was told that you're the person to ask, see I'm... I'm looking for a friend"
"We're all looking for friends, sometimes people are happy if it's just for an hour, sometimes for a night and sometimes longer"
"Huh?"
"This is a cantina, the friends you are probably seeking are next door” I motioned to the building next door that had those types of services, “the only thing I can offer is a drink"
"No!” Hunter’s face was horrified, “No, that's not what I meant. I'm looking for a specific friend"
"Oh a specific friend, well who is this friend?”
“I don’t know”
“You don’t know?”
“No”
“Well, I mean if you offer a description, I could tell you at least if I've seen them, maybe they passed by in the days or weeks before"

“Just ask her”
“I can’t”
“Echo, if you chicken out someone else will ask her, and then you’ll miss your chance”
“I know Fives, I just” Echo watched from across the mess hall at the new officer that had joined the 501st, all the guys heard, as soon as they had all the troopers casually made their way to the bridge nonchalantly introducing themselves to her. It also didn’t help that she was beyond gorgeous.
Hardcase, Jesse, almost all the guys were trying to find a way into her heart. She was pleasant enough, but never gave them an inch. She gave a simple smile, treated them with dignity, and remained friendly, but she never flirted back despite their efforts. Something Echo had noticed the times he was called to the bridge.
“Well, if you keep staring at her, it’s gonna turn creepy”
“I know, Fives! I … She … What … UGH!” Echo turned back to his food, yet his appetite was gone, since she walked into his life, everything seemed different. Food, air, colours, everything was dull, lifeless, Echo couldn’t take it anymore and pushed himself away from the table.
“Where you going, vod?” Fives called out
“For a walk, I’ll see you back at the barracks.”
“Echo, you haven’t touch…”
I didn’t hear the rest of what Fives was yelling, I just needed to get away from the mess hall, from the way those guys were flirting with her. There weren’t too many places on board the Resolute that were completely empty or that you could find a quiet place to think. I wandered around the halls for a while before deciding to head off to one of the closed hangars, a few were currently under repairs from the last time we encountered the Separatists. As I walked into the hangar, I noticed how everything looked abandoned, the scorch marks from the fire and explosions were gone.
I walked to the edge of the hangar and sat down with my legs hanging over. It was quiet, a lot better than the mess hall and away from all the giggles. I sat there for almost half an hour when I heard the door slide behind him.
I didn’t bother turning, I knew who it would be.
“How did you find me?”
There was no response, which was odd, Fives, never failed to fill a silence. The lack of response really puzzled me, I turned to call out Fives.
“Why are you being…” It wasn’t Fives, instead there was a very non-Fives looking person there, I kept my eyes focused on the eyes boring into my very soul.
“I’m … uh …”
“Hi” I offered
She offered a small smile, and a tiny wave, “Hi,” neither of us said anything.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt”
“It’s okay, would you care to sit?” I motioned to the space beside me, she simply nodded, and sat on the edge. Her face looked hesitant.
“You okay?”
“Never sat dangling my feet from a ledge in space before, it’s a bit unnerving”

I asked my boyfriend to find me a workout routine since I’m pretty bad at finding good workout stuff on my own.
He found me Pilates. 
I cannot begin to describe my experience with it. There was nothing that did not grate. I hated the fluttery flutteriness of fluttering arms around my body. I hated the assumption that I can lift my legs up to 90 degrees when I’m on my back and the fact that I was left doing the difficult exercises because I cannot fucking bend. But it’s still not fun-challenging, it’s just a fucking unpleasant challenge in which I’m supposed to flutter like a fucking deranged butterfly. 
Then the slow rolling. Like, fuck your slow everything. Fuck it with a thousand lightning rods. Also, fuck the trainer with the fucking soothing words.
Look. Working out has never felt good to me. Some people are like, “Oh, exercising, this feels nice!” Not me. I experience a mood drop. I get to feel like crap. I get to feel like all the crap. But I was hoping an intense workout would be enough to pull me through. Because I’m not a happy person in general and I do things, often, when I hate the hell out of it and my life. It’s not new. It also means that when I’m depressed, working out is a surefire way to become more depressed, but whatever, not the point now.
But intense? that is not Pilates. Pilates is about as intense as pickled cabbage on a rotating stick moving at one rotation per minute, but your face is in the way of that cabbage and you’re just keeping it there for some reason.
By the middle of that workout, I was ready to murder. I wanted to rip throats out. I wanted to see blood pouring and light fading away from my enemies’ eyes. 
“But what’s wrong with Pilates?” he asked. 
“I hate it,” I said, foaming at the mouth. 
“What do you want to get?”
“STRENGTH!” I nearly shouted. It’s a worthy goal. “And a bit of stamina.” I added, as an afterthought, because oh yeah, that’s useful.
“You can’t just go strength and stamina, it’s not an RPG,” he said. “You have to think about what muscles you want to train. You should go find a personal trainer to work this out for you in a personalized routine.”
How the fuck. Did we get there. Is he trying to persuade me to never work out again? Let’s face it: there is a snowball’s chance in hell I will go talk to a trainer. I hardly talk to shop assistants if I can help it. I do not know how to find one, and if I did, I would not go there. All I was looking for was some fucking youtube videos.
“Then what’s your problem with Pilates?”
And I know a lot of people love that shit, but seriously. That is not proper workout for someone who feels like offing themselves or their enemies every time they try exercising.

Get Rid Of Back Pain By Reading This Piece
When it comes to back pain, the intensity of symptoms can range anywhere from dull and tolerable to acute, agonizing pain. The condition can also affect the upper, middle, or lower section of the back or even all three areas. Fortunately, the advice in this article will offer insight into the nature of this condition. You should alternate your legs every thirty seconds, and this will help ensure an equal and balanced muscle growth in your back and legs for the support that you need. Lay down with your knees at a 90 degree angle to your hips. This is a comfortable position that reduces the stress on the back. The fact is, though, that any position you find tolerable is likely just fine, provided that you do not twist the spine. To help prevent back pain, have adequate back support when lounging. Furniture isn't always designed with this in mind, so remember to use good posture and back support when sitting and reclining. For shoulder internal rotation pain treatment , give your lower back a little support by placing a rolled up towel in the small of your back. Start a diet to lower your weight if you are 10 pounds heavier than you want. Your gravity center shifts when you carry extra weight, especially if that weight is in your abdomen. This shift puts strain on your lower back, and will cause long term back pain. Heat has also been found to be an effective way to relieve back problems, especially lower back pain. Heat therapy, such as heating pads, wraps or baths are inespensive and easy to do. It's best to alternate back and forth between ice and heat therapy to get the best results. Back pain comes in many forms. Make sure you know exactly what type of pain you are trying to relieve. Did you lift something wrong or twist the wrong way? Or are you just getting old? Each different type of pain will need different methodologies. Over-the-counter products do work wonders for back pain, and one of the best you can get is a sports injury product called Icy Hot. This hot-and-cold treatment cream is really inexpensive and can be used for a wide assortment of muscle-related issues. If you have muscle-related back pain, this cream may help. There are many people who suffer from back pain in silence because they feel as though it is something to be embarrassed about. There is no shame in having pain and it doesn't mean that you are old as there are lots of causes that can lead to this problem. In order to help reduce your back pain, try to eat a diet higher in potassium. Food items like bananas are great for your muscles. Potassium is a vital mineral that your body needs, and athletes have used potassium to keep from cramping for hundreds of years. It can certainly help to alleviate back pain. Many women and some men who frequently cross their legs, deal with back pain and cannot understand why. Crossing and/or locking your legs is a very unnatural position for your back, so try to avoid crossing legs to prevent back pain. Allow your legs to stay in front of you naturally to ease muscle strain and to keep proper alignment. When you are lifting heavy objects, always lift at the knee. Home Front, Mission 15: Phil & Zoe’s Cinderella Story
Once Upon a Workout

PHIL CHEESEMAN: Hello, ci-ti-zens, and welcome back to Radio Lock-In. I know last time it was Radio Phil, but since Zoe’s contributing via ROFFLEnet from the kennel where she's riding out the zombie horde, this felt a bit more apt. Also less likely to end in my having to fend off an attack by a pack of trained murder cats. Not that that's something I worry about late at night or anything. [laughs]
Anyway, it's time to start your warm-ups. Running on the spot, bit of stretching, whatever floats your boat. Oh, um, and uh, grab a yoga mat or um, large towel. You're going to be needing them. Because today, Radio Lock-In has a special treat: your very own Phil and Zoe-style fairy tale, with music breaks, ministry workouts, and a few minor updates to one of Ye Olde classic tales.
Uh, why fairy tales, you may ask? Well, obviously Zoe's a fan, what with all the talking cartoon animals in the Disney versions. But um, I just find them comforting. Have done since I was a kid. They're simple. Good wins, evil is vanquished, love is eternal, and magic is real. Well, I don't know about you, but all that sounds really good right now.
So without further ado, drum roll please! [taps hands rapidly on knees and makes a cymbal crash sound with his mouth] Cinderella! Or as Zoe calls it, the one with the posh outfits and the horse mice and in need of a rewrite from someone who has a better sense of women's shoe sizes.
But before we get to that, we'll start our story the way Cinderella starts hers: cleaning while wishing she was at a ball. Grab the nearest household item you can find and dance away while I play an appropriately jaunty tune. Ready? Dance!

PHIL CHEESEMAN: Wonderful! Now to catch you up, as our tale opens, everyone's looking forward to a lavish royal ball in the kingdom of... whatever it's called. But Cinderella can't go. Instead of dancing, her stepmother forces her to constantly tidy up.
I'll be honest, this sounds a lot like what I did as an excuse to get out of school discos. Well, at least until I learned a few slick dance moves from Daniel “Snake Leg” Simons. And uh, no, Zoe, I will not be showing you the patented Simons kick and slither. Luckily, Cinderella has her own snake legs: a fairy godmother who will whisk her away to the ball with some special fairy dust magic.
We'll be helping the fairy godmother out by distributing magic dust of our own with a few uppercuts! Get into a magic stance. Boxing stance, really, but we're in a story here. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, your knees slightly bent, fists up as if you're holding tight to a handful of fairy dust. Now you're ready for your magic uppercut. Rotate your body towards the arm in front and punch upwards with your back fist. Magic! Now rotate back to your starting position and you're ready for your next uppercut of magic.
I'd say it'll take about one minute to get Cinderella ready for the ball, so get to uppercutting. Start now. 15 seconds in. The dirty rags have transformed into a dress. Halfway there. The old pumpkin has become a magic carriage. Switch legs so that your other one is in front and keep the magic coming. Only 15 seconds left to go. The mice are horses now! All she needs are magic shoes! Let's turn those everyday shoes into glass slippers.
All done! Time to admire your handiwork. Feel free to keep doing magic uppercuts during this song or just twirl around as you do your own imaginary transformation.

PHIL CHEESEMAN: Now fully transformed, Cinderella heads to the ball, which I'd call a glamorous spectacle of light and gold and at least four different types of hors-doeuvres, but Zoe considers to be probably pretty boring, what with all the ball gowns and lack of a proper DJ.
Yeah, I'm fairly sure our Zoe always spent a lot of her youth in roller discos and is probably holding our imaginary ball to unreasonably high standards. But in honor of her anti-ball sentiments, we'll do some wall sits, just like the bored ball-goers.
For this, you'll need a wall that you can stand in front of. Stand with your back to the wall and lean back until your back is pressed against it, but you're still standing upright. Adjust your feet so that they’re shoulder-width apart and about a step in front of the wall, then slide your back down the wall until your thighs and calves make 90 degree angles with your back, head, and backside still against the wall.
We're gonna stay like that for 60 seconds, if we can, starting now. 15 seconds in. Why Zolinda, so lovely to see you here this evening. Halfway done. I know, such a boring ball. I'm too tired to even eat these delicious cheese canapes. Just 15 seconds to go. At least the prince is looking well. Maybe he'll meet his bride tonight, who decides to turn to a parliamentary system of rule! And done.
Stand back up and shake out those legs. A mysterious stranger has just entered the ballroom. Spoiler, it's Cinderella. All right, Cinderellas, I'll play an entrance song and you can do your best glass slippered red carpet walk, or another round of wall sits if you'd like. I'm gonna have some of those imaginary canapes. They imaginary sound imaginary delicious.

PHIL CHEESEMAN: And we're back. Just in time. Cinderella is now in the middle of an exciting tango with the prince, who wants to know more about her. Uh, naturally, per Zoe, they take the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation about ruling a kingdom in a way that allows for the voice of the people to be heard, gender equality, and whether avocado is a fruit, all while dipping and sashaying.
But uh, just as Cinderella is coming up with the excellent idea to test avocados’ fruitiness by putting it on toast, the clock begins to strike midnight. [a bell chimes twice] Once it hits 12 AM, all of that fairy magic will disappear, so Cinderella has to make a run for it.
That means it's time for high knees. Run in place, bringing your knees up with each step as if you're running back to your carriage before the clock strikes midnight. Let's go, starting now. 15 seconds in. You've made it out the front door of the palace, expertly dodging the guards. Halfway there. Uh, you're at the top of the longest flight of stairs ever. Head to the bottom. Only 15 seconds left to go. You've made it down the stairs, leaving a glass slipper behind in the process. That's okay, your carriage is just ahead. Made it! Now it's time to head home and pretend you've been cleaning all night. Practice looking casual yet hard-working during this next song.

PHIL CHEESEMAN: We're almost to the end of our tale. It's the next day and no one suspects that Cinderella was the previous evening's it girl, the talk of the town, the belle of the, well, ball. The prince, who Zoe notes foolishly left his glasses off while dancing and therefore couldn't see the face of the woman he fell for, is searching for her by trying to fit the glass slipper on everyone he sees. Uh, according to Zoe, that is only the fifth worst way to pick a potential mate, but she says she will not reveal one through four except to say that one of them involves lime jelly and exactly 16 eels.
And with that somewhat discomforting thought, let's help our prince out with some knee folds. They're just like lifting your foot for a shoe fitting. More or less, anyway. Start by lying down on your back. Grab your yoga mat or towel to put underneath you so you've got something comfortable to lie on. Now bring your knees up so that they’re bent and the soles of your feet are flat on the floor and your toes are pointing straight forward. Your arms should be by your sides, your shoulders relaxed and chest open. [sighs] Relaxing right?
Now as you inhale, use your abdominal muscles to lift your right leg off the floor while keeping your hips against the ground. Keep your knees bent and lift your leg until your thigh is at a 90 degrees angle from your body and your lower leg is parallel with the floor. They call this table position because, well, it looks like your lower legs are the top of a table. Now exhale as you lower your leg back down to the floor. Now do the same with your left leg, and continue alternating for the next minute.
Go! These aren't meant to be fast kicks. Keep the movement slow and controlled. Imagine someone trying endless shoes on your feet. 15 seconds in, but all the feet that the glass slipper has been tried on are too wide! Keep going. Halfway through, and now the feet are too narrow! 15 seconds of feet left to try. You're almost there. Done. That's it, that's the one. You've found Cinderella! And now you deserve a break. Shoe fitting and storytelling are both hard work. I'll put on a nice cooldown song so you can stretch out your muscles from all that fairy taling.

PHIL CHEESEMAN: And that's the story of a very active Cinderella. Fun! I almost forgot we were exercising. And Zoe says it went off more or less without a hitch, even if I did leave off a detailed epilogue about Cinderella teaming up with the fairy godmother to create a magical haute couture fashion line. Uh, she says half the fun of fairy tales is that they're so simple that you get to add your own spin to it, make the story your own. Works for me, as long as we still get to throw in a happily ever after. I miss those.

[laughs] I definitely feel like I can relate to someone who spends half her life trapped in a tower and is rapidly growing a very distressing amount of hair. These stories have lasted hundreds of years, through war and disease and love and zombies, and if they can keep going, so can we.

You weren’t exactly aware of the trip to campus. Your legs felt like they would buckle with any given step. You were aware of exactly one thing though, the constant cool touch of Taehyung’s hand.  He walked beside you, palm on your hot neck as you both just appeared as some college student’s strolling.  You weren’t even sure what he was doing, but his cold hand was too comfortable for you to ask. 
You both ran into Alex as Taehyung stopped you before giving you back your bag at the doors to the building your lecture was taking place in. You weakly waved at her as Taehyung touched your forehead again with the tips of his fingers, pushing a comfortable amount of pressure to try and almost relieve your headache. 
“You look awful!” Alex cried as you just groaned as she came up beside you and started rubbing your back through your hoodie.  Her touch was nothing like the alien’s in front of you.  Alex looked at Taehyung. “She fought with you to come today, huh?”

“You should’ve stayed home. You’re swaying!” It’s true. You did have a hard time finding proper balance.  It’s like you could feel the rotation of the earth beneath your feet.  “Look, if I take notes for you, will you go home? It’s an open lecture so I can sit in. My classes don’t start until 10, so I can afford to sit in on yours. I just came to study in the library, but I can change my plans.” 
You tried to weakly shake your head.  Your plan was to get into the lecture hall, copy the words you saw, wobble home and sleep it all off.  If you had the notes, that’s all that mattered. You didn’t need to understand them right now, you could study it all in the future when you were coherent. But, you didn’t want Alex sitting in for you. 
“You don’t care about space,” you told her. True, Alex wasn’t as passionate about the stars and planets and cosmos as you were, but she’d be willing to go through the lecture. It was only and hour and a half. 
“90 minutes won’t kill me, Y/n. Please, just go home.”  Taehyung’s brow shot up at Alex’s tone. She was normally so loud and boisterous. It was odd seeing her face contort in worry as her voice dropped.  You practically hung off her side as she held your back.  
Was this comradery? Was your friend caring for you? Was your weak energy always capable of pulling sympathy from other humans? That's when he noticed that your energy had stopped fluctuating and started to drop.  
Your eyes lidded as your head started to fall.  Your knees finally buckling as you slipped from Alex’s side.  She yelped, as you started to fall, world blurring.  You were expecting a harsh connection to the pavement with your knees- but didn’t get one.  
Taehyung knew your consciousness was about to shut down as he lunged to grab under your arms and support your limp, feverish body. His arms under your own as your knees were bent and feet hardly holding your weight, you slumped against his chest as you heard Alex panic behind you. He instinctively moved to hold his hand over your neck once again, the cool touch once more relaxing you. 
“Holy shit, you’re not going to that lecture,” Alex finalized.  You wanted to protest before giving up on the idea completely- your mouth and mind just weren’t cooperating with each other it seemed. “Taehyung, you’ll take her home and I’ll take her stuff and sit in at her class.” She took your bag from your shoulder as she then helped Taehyung move you against his back before he lifted you up. 
Your legs on either side of his hips as his hands held under your thighs. Your arms hung over his shoulders as your cheek rested on his neck. Your eyes were lidded as you felt just so hot. Taehyung saw your hair over his shoulder and almost winced at how your body was almost on fire- his alien skin able to feel it even beyond your clothing. 
Alex rubbed your back before she was shooing you both off and rushing inside to catch your lecture for you.  You tried to make a mental note about repaying her later somehow. The trip from campus to home on Taehyung’s back was a blur and you could vaguely remember him putting you on your bed in your room.  
“Sorry ‘bout this,” you slurred as Taehyung finished rolling you off his back and onto your mattress.  Your voice was a whisper, but luckily he had an impeccable sense of hearing. “Thank you, Taehyung,” you finished as you missed his body jolt as you held his cold hand for just a short moment before finally falling asleep.

oh 😳 i just bought a proper sonic electric toothbrush for the first time (i've been using vibrating toothbrushes for years and before that it was manuals with the occasional rotating head electric) and i get what all the fuss is about now. my mouth didn't foam up so much, the timer helped me avoid dissociation, i didn't gag when i was brushing my tongue, and my teeth feel pristine. it's... it's amazing. i can't believe how much better this is. i think this just cleared up like 90% of why i hate brushing my teeth. fucking wow! 😳 i'm shook.

When did Louis Tomlinson perform JHO? I performed it a few times, it comes out off the top of me head 2017. My first performance was at the XF and I hadn’t done a solo performance on me own and the XF was always a big performance for us as a band so was good to be back and do that on my own was both exciting and nerve-wrecking.

Maybe you have answered this before, but what are you favorite video game controllers? Also, of you were to design the perfect one, what features would it have?
My favorite controller is the Dualshock 2, used with the Playstation 2. I had a Playstation-to-USB Adapter for my PC and it became the controller I used for all PC games that let me use one.

If Sony could make a controller that’s just the DS2 with good analog triggers, it would be the perfect controller.
The way I see it is like this: Sony made a decent controller for the original Playstation. It was the first one to really embrace the idea of “grips” that your palms wrap around. This form factor went on to become the defacto standard for most controllers going forward.

It’s basically just a better version of the SNES controller, which was already the best controller of its era.
Sony innovated a second time with the introduction of twin analog sticks, something else that became the defacto standard in the industry. And for my money, Sony’s placement is still the best. I prefer symmetrical analog sticks, because it feels more comfortable on the thumbs when switching back and forth between the d-pad and the stick. The d-pad is already always where it originally was, and Sony put the sticks in the place where they’d make the most sense.

This is part of the reason why I think the Xbox controller has universally been saddled with poor d-pads. Regardless of the actual technology inside an Xbox d-pad, it’s not a natural position for your thumb to rest.

To use the d-pad on an Xbox controller, you have to rotate your thumb almost 90 degrees to the right and push inwards, below the analog stick. On all axis, the d-pad is underneath the stick, making it less comfortable to use on all fronts. On a standard d-pad (NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, etc.) your thumb is pointing upwards, and you rock it back and forth, left to right, to move your character left and right.
On an Xbox controller, your thumb is pointing outwards when using a d-pad, requiring a different motion. You kind of push your thumb out (or up) to move to the right, and in (down) to move left. That’s on top of having to physically have your thumb resting further inward on the controller in general. It’s kind of awkward.
I’m sure some people will say that I’m using the Xbox 360 controller as an example, and that the Xbox One d-pad is better now, but I don’t think that really matters. For me, the legacy looks like this:

The Dualshock feels like taking a good controller and adding new standards to make it better, whereas the Xbox controller feels like taking a bad controller and smoothing out its rough edges until its less awful.
Which is a bummer, because Microsoft being such a dominating force with the Xbox 360 means that a lot of people think the Xbox controller configuration is the “correct” one. Even Nintendo uses it now:

(But then, Nintendo’s been kind of dropping the ball on ergonomics for a while now…)
The only thing I’d say in closing is that Sony actually changed the form factor for the Dualshock 4 and I don’t like it as much. There’s a reason I specifically point out the Dualshock 2, and that’s because it’s before the Playstation 3′s mushy analog triggers and before the Playstation 4′s dumb (and nearly useless) track pad.
But it’s not just the track pad. Getting rid of start and select was a bad idea for both Xbox and Playstation alike. The “Share” and “Options” buttons on the PS4 are also really uncomfortable to hit because they’re squeezed in to that tiny little spot next to the touch surface.
The Dualshock 4 also has smaller analog caps and taller sticks, which was hard to adjust to as I found it made my thumbs get really tired, really fast. The face buttons also feel weird and sticky sometimes in a way I don’t like, and there’s sharp plastic ridges all over the controller – there’s some on the outside edges of the L and R bumpers, and at there’s more along the bottom edge of the analog triggers underneath the controller, which is where the rest of my fingers usually rest. These sharp ridges tend to make my fingers sore, especially the ones under the triggers.
Like I said at the start of this ask, if Sony made a Dualshock 2 with proper (read: Xbox-style) analog triggers, it would be my perfect controller.
