Because, dear fandom, they have not been set up as just best friends. Intentional or not, the way they have been cinematically filmed and edited, the way they have been written, and the way they have been acted scream romantic/sexual chemistry.

You want to watch meaningful male friendships? Go watch Psych, a show that portrays a best friendship with no romantic or sexual elements and does so quite beautifully.

Go watch Shawn and Gus and then compare them to Buck and Eddie.

I can respect the Tevan shippers who prefer Tommy over Eddie. That’s a matter of opinion. What is a matter of fact is the queer, homoerotic subtext that has been injected into this show between Buck and Eddie.

there is something interesting about the way eddie says "really?" when buck comes out to him. he is not JUST taken back, maybe even hurt bc buck felt like he needed to lie. but there is more. its a dissapointment in his voice; like "you are out? and dating a guy? i thought if we ever did this i wouldnt be left behind". i mean this is the same man who only got with marisol bc buck was with natalia and he wanted the "magic" too. he even said he clicked with tommy like buck with natalia so its still lingering and he made it part of this playful queercoded friendship they have. now there he is, doing the thing again, the thing that never worked, trying, dating for real, ana all over again and there is buck telling him, out of nowhere, im queer. and im with the guy you thought i was jealous of. what you think? and he cant believe it. they had something in common and now the distance is there, between them. not bc buck is queer but bc HE cant be; he doesnt get to come out and be accepted. before he couldnt feel the way he feels about buck for multiple reasons and now its worst because he could and he cant. he doesnt get to. nothings gonna change between them. he is gonna call his ex nun motherly girlfriend and keep trying. i feel so much for eddie damn

As a bisexual who is incredibly excited about Buck's story this season and can relate to a lot of it, i want to say something that i can't believe some people will find controversial: Eddie has been queercoded JUST AS MUCH as Buck has this ENTIRE time. And saying you don't care about buddie happening is kinda insinuating you don't care about Eddie getting is own queer storyline and getting thrugh his catholic guilt to find his own freedom. I am SO HAPPY that buck is bisexual and free and i am loving his storyline, but Eddie deserves this freedom too. Anyone who suffered thrugh Supernatural knows that Eddie being straight is just as queerbating as it would have been if Buck stayed straight too and not advocating for that rappresentation is unfair. I am not an older gay man who has been repressing his true self with years worth of catholic guilt and loveless relationships with women, and i cannot imagine how hard that must be. But i know for a fact it's a real thing that many people go thrugh and is a story worth telling, and Eddie is the perfect character to convay the reality of that experience. Why are some people settling? Bucks bisexuality is an incredible victory worth celebrating, and i understand how starved for rapresentation we are as a community, i really do. But we need and should ask for what is right and true to the story instead of getting a little something and immediatly giving up
