Gallavich music band AU

different bands, different genres, same scene. /short story below/

Mickey plays guitar in the Milkovich family band: Mickey - electric guitar, backing vocals Mandy - vocals, keyboards Iggy - bass guitar Colin - drums, percussion

Ian sings with another band. Suddenly appearance on stage and charmed everyone at first sight.

And of course, at one of the after-concert parties, Mandy meets Ian.

Ian's band was pissing Mickey off because they had to perform on the same stage even though they were in different genres.

For Mickey, Ian is a one-hit wonder. For Ian, he's just trying to move on and find himself. So one day Ian will disappear from the scene as suddenly as he appeared, and Mickey will be satisfied that he was right.

…until he realised that he missed the redhead.

"You never asked," Mickey said, showing Franny how to play on her new keyboard. She sat in between his legs on the couch as she watched him showing her Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

"Does that really count as 'playing piano'?" Carl joked.

Mickey looked at him with a raised eyebrow before breaking into a beautiful and complicated rendition. When it was over he noticed everyone's stunned reactions. Ian stared in shock, like he was seeing him for the first time.

"My mom taught me."

Frannie looked up at him with a smile. "I don't think I'll ever play that good."

"Gotta get those little Franny-fingers strong. Then you will."

Listening to my Mickey playlist again, what are some songs u associate with some of the characters or show?

Honestly Dean, you should never not be listening to your Mickey playlist.. Micklist?

This is such a good ask. I spend way too much time walking whilst listening to music and daydreaming, it's where so many of my head canons come from! So I associate a lot of songs with Shameless as a whole and with my favourite characters.

I'm gonna go ahead and share some that I associate with Shameless as a whole and then my fave characters :)

Shameless:

I know they actually played this during an episode? Maybe after Monica's funeral? I can't remember the exact episode. I got super obsessed with the song whilst I was travelling Australia last year and I used to imagine them playing it at the party after the Gallavich wedding.

I don't know if I have as much of an explanation for this one. It just really gives me shameless vibes. Maybe about Frank saying he thinks everyone should party more in life? Also it kinda reminds me of Lip? Plus I had a weird reoccurring day dream for a while of Gallavich sneaking into a Green Day concert.

Don't know if this really needs an explanation, they'd defo always play this at Gallagher parties!

Mickey:

Harness your hopes on just one person because you know a harness is only made for one?! ARE YOU KIDDING?! A personal head canon for me is Mickey being demiromantic. I also identify this way. I've never really fancied anyone off the bat, I have to really know them first and I feel like Mick is this way. It's probably not what the song is about but that line just hits. Plus, I've said it before and I'll say it again - I think Mick loves this song.

Need I explain?

After reading CG, this will always be Mickey coded.

Ian:

I don't really know how to explain this one. It just screams Ian to me. But like so many Frank Ocean songs are Gallavich coded.

I just can't seem to explain why songs remind me of Ian. It just does okay.

This is a sadder pick but it reminds me of Ian during season 4/5. He was so ahead of the curve but he had his independence and drive taken from him for a while because of his bipolar. This also works as a Lip song!

I didn't wanna leave Ian on a sad note so he can have another Taylor song. I imagine this for him during season 3 when he's so obviously in love with Mick (and its summer) and Mick is finding it harder to express his feelings.

Mandy:

What band/artist surprises you the most on your frequently listened to artists? I have no idea why the fuck Alanis Morissette continues to pop up on my random, also Maroon 5. At least I can say Taylor Swift pops up on my frequents 'cause I share my profile & people listen to her music. But the other two? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Why? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Favourite line from a song (or one you have been thinking about lately? One of my all time favorite songwriters is Jarvis Cocker. He has a way of turning a phrase that I find absolutely captivating.

In the song, "Seductive Barry," he wrote: "I will light your cigarette with a star that has fallen from the sky." Which is not a new phrase, but the way he uses it within the context of the song makes it ✨ special. ✨

Okay let’s talk fandom music:

Fave band or song you’ve discovered from a Fan Fic? I think the one that's stuck with my the most has been "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" the Daniel Duke version of the song originally done by The Proclaimers. It was used in AllThatMatters' fic The Ghost of You and Me.

Fave Fanfic Playlist? I like clicking on to playlist to see what's on them, but I can't think of any memorable ones right now. I think for me I have clearer memories of songs that are attached to a specific moment in a storyline or that are suggested as a play-along during a chapter.

Fave Gallavich song? "Pink+ White," by Frank Ocean.

Do you listen to music recommended by the writer or an included playlist? If there is a song that is recommended in the beginning notes, I will listen to it while I'm reading or before I am reading if I am using the screen reader while I'm driving. I don't always get a chance to listen to everything, but I do like to hear a song or two in order to get into the atmosphere the writer's trying to create.

random married gallavich headcanons (that nobody asked for)

they both have very different music tastes, but will listen to whatever the other one puts on

ian has a more diverse music taste and listens to: justin timberlake/nsync (iykyk), the white stripes, the black eyed peas, radiohead, jeff buckley, the smashing pumpkins, lana del rey (sorry you can’t change my mind), tyler the creator, and lady gaga (IN SECRET)

mickey doesn’t have as diverse music taste, and listens to: tool, christian death, limp bizkit, my chemical romance, alice in chains, rage against the machine, eminem, nirvana, the smashing pumpkins, black sabbath, and also lady gaga (DEFINITELY IN SECRET ONLY IAN KNOWS AND IT WILL STAY THAT WAY)

out of the two of them, ian gets sick more often but is stubborn about it, and whenever mickey does get sick he starts off stubborn but then just gets clingy, whiny, needy, and overall annoying, but ian still loves him even if he is a big baby

mickey is the better cook (surpisingly enough to ian) and often tries to incorporate whatever ian grows in his garden into their food

a year later once their lease is up, they buy a small, cheap, southside house and move in there and they are both more happy

it took a lot of convincing by tami, but eventually they were allowed to babysit fred and lip’s child #2 (i hc it’s a girl named fuckin’ beatrice or something after tami’s mom but idk)

ian likes dc and star wars movies, and mickey likes marvel (he has no opinion on star wars but he referred to han solo as hot once)

at their wedding, there was a reserved seat for monica, with a photo of her printed out on it (i heard this from someone else idk who and i saw this at a wedding once)

the alibi ends up becoming a cop bar which makes mickey EXTREMELY unhappy

ian bartended at the alibi multiple times since he has already been a bartender and whenever he did mickey tried to get free drinks

they end up having some contact with yevgeny because they both still talk with svetlana

mickey came with ian to monica’s grave once and later asked why the tombstone was cracked, when ian told him about the store he promptly texted carl and applauded him

eventually mickey gets along with lip, but refuses to admit that he does to ian

nobody asked me to do these but i will do more

just finished reading Cooperative Gameplay by @gallavichy which is a must for the shameless/gallavich fandom I suppose, and fuck! that was good.

and I'm just. so happy to be able to read such a good work by someone so passionate about their craft. I mean, Gray did so much research to properly describe videogames and how ged and university application work and mental ilness and places and tourist points and the most banal things too, and their mannerisms! the way every fucking twitter user ian follows has a consistent personality throughout all the fucking +240k words its insane! she included the clothes they were wearing and made whole playlists for a fanfic, that's so fucking nice.

it's just so nice to feel how much she was into it, you know? more than a great writing and story and characters, it was so nice to read cause there was so much feeling to it, all the time. makes me feel warm inside. smiled so big reading it and cried too! i just had to put it out here.
