Ian loves working out and finds swimming laps in their apartment complex pool a great way to do that

Mickey relaxes on the pool chairs, beer in hand, watching his husband “put on a good show”

Post-canon headcanon that the first time Ian has to go for a long weekend away without Mickey (brothers trip or something) he’s anxious to get home because Mickey’s been a bit ~~weird~~ on the phone while Ian’s been away, ending the phone calls too quickly and stuff.

And then he gets home to his husband sitting too still on the couch and Ian’s like “what did u do this weekend” “……nothing…” and Ian knows immediately something’s up and just when he’s about to ask more he hears barking from another room. And mickeys just like 😳

And then all of a sudden Ian’s being jumped on by a giant excited ball of fur and he’s just like “… oh what did u do”

And mickeys just like “she was sleeping under the tracks Ian I couldn’t just leave her there it’s cold and she was hungry look at her she clearly hasn’t been eating properly! And u should’ve seen the shelter nearby it was miserable she would’ve hated it there!”

And Ian knows that right now is not a good time because they’re expanding the business and there’s so much going on and they’re already so busy… but he takes one look at his husbands pleading face and knows that this dog is not going anywhere

And at first Ian’s like fine but ur taking care of her and she sleeps in a crate “but Ian-” “she’s not sleeping in the bed Mickey”

BUT then he becomes the epitome of ‘dad and the dog he didn’t want’ and he insists on buying her the expensive name brand food because “she doesn’t like the other stuff mick it upsets her stomach” and the expensive dog shampoo bc “she’s more comfortable when we use this stuff mick” even tho mickeys like she was sleeping on the streets and eating trash when I found her but ok

Then Mickey gets home late one night after helping Sandy with something to find his husband already in bed and Mickeys side of the bed is taken up by some familiar fur. Mickey laughs as he gets ready for bed “she’s not sleeping in the bed Mickey” he mocks

“shut up. get in here” Ian mumbles sleepily and Mickey just laughs as he slots himself into bed between his husband and the dog

and mickey milkovich is wooed by his inability to shut the fuck up

so i tweeted this and i wanted to write a short something based on that

ficlet: to the sound of ian's voice

The quietness, the silence was too dense, too heavy, too thick. He could hear his own thoughts, his own heartbeat and Ian's calmed breath. He missed the familiar feeling of being surrounded by chaos, by loud noises. That was what he knew, he grew up in chaos. But he was trying, his eyes were closed and he was trying to fall asleep.

"Mick" Ian's voice shattered the silence, Mickey refused to open his eyes "I know you're awake"

"I'm not" he answered and he could feel Ian giving him an exasperated look so he opened one eye, smiled at him and when Ian laughed softly he closed it again.

"But are you listening?" Mickey nodded, the sheets moved next to him and suddenly Ian's warmth was closer.

And it felt safe, familiar, right in a place that didn't feel like that. At least not yet.

"I was thinking that we could go to some thrift shop and see if we find some furniture" he said "it might be cheaper and I don't know, maybe more original, you know?"

Ian's voice was somehow a peace that didn't feel too quiet and heavy, it was a peace that calmed Mickey, that made him stop hearing his own heartbeat, his own thoughts. He focused on Ian's voice and wondered why Ian felt like he would never be the peace their married life seemed to need.

"Yeah, sounds good" he agreed, his own voice sounding too soft and almost fading away.

Ian frowned but then his lips draw another a smile, wide and fond that Mickey couldn't see.

"Are you falling asleep to the sound of my voice?" he asked, his tone lower and softer.

"Keep talking" Mickey's sleepy voice answered him

Ian smiled, kissed his husband's cheek and continued talking. And when Mickey fell asleep, he looked at him for a brief second and thought that maybe he wasn't peace, but he was the peaceful chaos that Mickey needed.

i, for one, love every post and headcanon i see about mickey wearing a little chain, a little necklace with an "I" charm on it, or some variation of this, but... let me flip it for a minute.

ian wearing a thin gold chain with a small, circle shaped pendant on the end with the letter M engraved into it. mickey gave it to him last christmas, and even though he felt absolutely ridiculous even thinking about giving it to him, let alone going into a store and actually purchasing it with real money, ian's reaction when he opened the little velvet box was worth it. mickey helped him put it on that morning, and ian hasn't taken it off since.

he sleeps with it on, showers with it on, works out in the gym and does laps in the pool with it on. half the time ian forgets it's there, this lightweight gold chain he barely even feels, and the other half of the time he toys with the pendant, sliding it back and forth, making sure it lays flat on his chest, M side up. people ask him about it all the time, confused because neither Ian nor Gallagher start with the letter M, and ian beams at every chance he gets to talk about his husband.

someone asked him once if it was some kind of power play for mickey, pseudo-branding ian with his initial sitting between his husband's collarbones. ian laughed him off, rolled his eyes at the use of branding, and told him in great detail about the full name tattoo etched into mickey's chest.

ian doesn't care about that shit. he'd get mickey's full government name tattooed onto his forehead if he didn't think his husband would murder him for it. he's down that bad for him. ten years later and he still feels like he's fifteen some days, with butterflies in his stomach and too many emotions in the space between his ribs. he loves mickey, and he wants the whole world to know.

so, the wedding ring and the M necklace will have to do. for now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that Mickey got out of prison shortly after Ian. But! Imagine us getting a scene in S10 of Ian visiting Mickey in prison and showing he's actually committed to Mickey this time and will wait however long it takes for him to get out. In the S1 visit, Ian's all smitten and Mickey acts indifferent. In the S6 visit, Mickey is in love and Ian acts indifferent. A S10 visit could have been so good, like third time's the charm. Ian all excited and going to visit Mickey. Mickey relieved when he sees Ian showed and kept his promise, that he really does want Mickey even when he has the choice of anyone else in the world who isn't stuck in prison. THEY BOTH HAVE THEIR HAND ON THE GLASS AND ARE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER WITH HEART-EYES! I just like wish we got this.

ok so i have a sad artist!mickey headcanon and i’m sharing it with the hope that it will make other people just as sad as it makes me. post 4x12 when ian is depressed in bed and sleeping, he’s so still that mickey, who has no clue what to do, decides to use him as a model and draws his sleeping figure. ian finds the drawings years later but doesn’t remember the story behind them.

Chaos Gallavich Headcanon time:

In season 11, the first conflict Ian and Mickey have is Mickey spending all the money they got when they got married, leaving Ian to find a shoebox full of IOUs and be very pissed off.

And to me, this is such a logical conflict for them that I actually appreciate as their first in a marriage. Finances! Though they are both low class, same neighborhood, etc. They handle money very differently, and its been part of the show the whole time, but we get to see it come to a head in the final season.

So we see a lot of the Gallagher money struggles in the show. We see how they work odd jobs and all pitch in to make ends meet and squirrel away extra money for the winter months when it seems random jobs are harder to come by or bills get more expensive or Christmas or whatever. The Gallaghers work as a unit when it comes to money.

Looking at Ian specifically, we see how his Gallagher-giving mentality expanded to Mandy and Mickey and anyone he considers family. He puts money in Mickey's commissary, raises money for Mandy's abortion, and even in his mania when he is the most in need of help himself, he figures out a way to make money to support Mickey, his wife, and his child.

And even later, when Ian has a good job and most of the Gallaghers are financially getting by and he's had enough extra money to start saving, he gives it to mickey. All of it.

On the flip side, though we don't get the kind of insight into the Milkoviches that we do with the Gallaghers when it comes to finances, Mickey seems to be more impulsive and selfish with money.

The Milkoviches don't strike me as a group to honestly fork over everything they have. Most likely, they don't even split profits easily over jobs. I do think quick math comes naturally to Mickey, but I also think he learned young to count the money he's worth, and he's owed.

The problem arises when he has money or access to money. He drops multiple bills on the bisquick when he doesn't need to, spends the money frivolously until it's all gone, and he moves on to the next con. We always see Mickey working and trying to make money, and yet where is it? I don't think he's capable of squirreling away, of saving, of thinking long term with his money.

That's why when he sees their wedding money sitting in a box not being used, he just starts spending it. And he leaves IOUs because in his mind he'll make that money back and more with the next scheme. And he's not really proven wrong.

Anyway, I feel like I could talk for ages about their financial literacy and how it impacts their relationship but the writers decided it'd only last a few epsiodes and they'd focus on questioning their desire for monogamy so... 🙃

the thing about ian is that he and mickey will fuck so nasty, and he'll still call it "making love." mickey will be starfished on the bed, drenched in sweat and staring at the ceiling with his eyes all huge like he just accidentally bore witness to the birth of the universe after whatever depraved act ian just committed upon him, and ian will be next to him like "i love getting to make love with you 🥰 that was so nice 🥰 i love you"

i fully headcanon that after mickey went to prison and the mexico, ian smokes his brand of cigarettes to remember what he smelt/tasted like whenever he misses him

any gallavich headcanons?

Hi, anon! Yes, I've got one or two headcanons. 😁

Domesticity ends up suiting them. They become one of those gross couples that is so in tune with each other and the space they live in that they can move around each other without even thinking about it. They do this while bickering like the old married couple we all know they are.

Their text log is basically just Ian saying something and Mickey replying with 🖕

They've got a plan of attack for when Ian feels too manic or depressed. For Ian, it's a med adjustment chart. For Mickey, it's a list of dos and don'ts that they know work as he helps to take care of Ian.

They take turns picking date night. Usually that means going out on Ian's nights and staying in on Mickey's.

Ian picks up Mickey's habit of rubbing his eyebrow with his thumb. Mickey thinks it's hilarious.

They renew their vows for their tenth wedding anniversary.

Mickey milkovich talks in his sleep

but it’s more like threatens in his sleep

so Ian wakes up to his husband angrily mumbling to his pillow that he’s gonna “gut this bitch” and “stab you, you fucking fuck”

Another Post-Canon headcanon I have:

Mickey starts looking at getting more tattoos. He finds an artist he likes and over time he builds up a sleeve of sorts. He starts liking tattoos that are stereotypically feminine (eg a rose or something) and he has to grapple with all the toxic masculinity he got from Terry to get those. He ends up sort of designing a tattoo that’s a rose & dagger or something because he likes to draw.

He likes it so he sort of starts co designing his next tattoos with the artist. He doesn’t have the patience to be an actual tattoo artist but he likes drawing different designs & sketches.

Ian loves Mickey’s drawings and there’s one that he particularly loves so for their anniversary Ian gets a tattoo of it on his chest and surprises Mickey with it

ever since i saw this scene, i have decided that it is actually canon that Ian has to be touching Mickey in some way like all the time

Ian comes downstairs to Mickey making coffee? he immediately makes his way over, draping his arms around his shoulders.

in the kitchen with the other Gallaghers? Ian has to squeeze his shoulder as he walks past.

at the dinner table? His leg is is rested against Mickey's under the table.

passing by him as he leaves the bathroom in the mornings and Mickey takes it over? a quick pat to his shoulder or chest is necessary

when he wakes up for his morning run and Mickey is still sleeping? a quick soothing rub through his tuft of black hair and a quick peck to his temple is a must.

Ian feels slightly anxious or notices Mickey feeling anxious while they're in public together? a quick squeeze to the forearm or leg is a requirement!

mickey is the same way, he's just more of an in-private type of person. but ian? must touch husband at all times

you know maybe when ian talked being scared of not feeling the same thrill again with new person wasn't talking about the "dangerous" part but about being surprised and fall even more in love wih that person cause of that like that surprised party that mickey threw for their anniversary and i'm not putting that as an example because it was a surprise party, I'm mentioning it because ian didn't expect it, he didn't expect mickey to be that romantic, he didn't expect mickey to throw a party with their wedding as the theme (decorations, music), he didn't expect that because he knows mickey and thought he wouldn't do something like that or he ever did that would be in a very particular way, a very mickey way. and he didn't expect it not because he didn't think he hadn't that in him but because he grew up with mickey and that man that is now married to him was once a closeted teenager that didn't know how to deal with emotions and didn't allow himself to kiss the guy he liked. but then mickey did that, ian discovered a new part of him after 10 years and he was so happy, excited and in love with that man that his only words had to be that he loved him.

Ian makes Mickey watch Harry Potter and Mickey makes Ian watch Hunger Games
