imma be controversial

the hate on Taylor for being times most influential person is very politically based and in my opinion it’s wrong.

I find it weird as an adult people wait for celebrities and influencers to talk on political topics because? Well they aren’t really qualified and it doesn’t really change anything but please fans.

the people that we should listen to are politicians. Yes Palestine needs help but like? Taylor swift speaking out won’t change what’s happening there because they need a person in POWER to speak up.

in my mind the hate centered on her winning is crazy. Men are saying she should get ra*ed getting THOUSANDS of likes, people slut shaming her wishing she’d die… it’s horrible.

One of my biggest issues with that critique is that the Person of The Year is picked months in advance and parts of the interview for the profile were done prior to October 7. I didn’t see anything about people wanting Palestinian journalists being to be named when the shortlist was released on Monday. It’s like people are asking for the TIME journalists and editor board to time travel and make their decision. Even if they did pick something dealing with Palestine, they’d probably choose the IDF or Netanyahu given how Western media is still primarily supporting Israel even though they’re blatantly committing genocide. The work that Palestinian journalists are doing is brave, courageous and devastating, and unfortunately most of western media is refusing to show their work and bring attention to it when they should be.

I don’t know when or why we decided that we need to hear and know every single celebrity’s stance on every big political issue, especially when they most likely know nothing about it and are making a statement for the sake of optics. I agree with you anon and that the people we should care about knowing their stance is the elected officials who actually make decisions and have influence over these situations. I literally don’t think Taylor Swift making an Instagram story or post is going to change any politician’s minds or actually end any of the conflict; it won’t have any actual effect beside being a statement. Have the statements from any of the other hundreds of celebrities done anything to change the minds of politicians or impact policy?

People getting annoyed or mad at Taylor for something that isn’t in her control is seemingly becoming common place. I’m not sure there would be as much backlash if the title had gone to one of the world leaders on the shortlist, I’m sure there would be different kinds of backlash though. TIME picks the person or group based on the influence, positive or negative, that they had around the world during the year and as I said earlier, the western media only started paying attention to what was happening to the Palestinian people on October 7th and the days following.

They were all some level of intoxicated except for Spy who had to drive them back to base (though I think Demo, Medic and Scout were the most drunk ones or just the drunk ones period, they just can't hold their liquor)

i am taking your little blurb and squirreling it away to my stash of headcanons, because i LOVE thinking about Foul Legacy's pretty glowing eye. it definitely glows in the dark, he has better night vision than humans do (which makes for some terrifying moments if you encounter him in the hallway at night, just a single shining eye staring at you) and whenever he sees you, he perks up and his eye glows visibly brighter along with the soft light coming from his sparkling wings

for some reason i feel like Childe already knows morse code, maybe because the Fatui usually have to take ships to different nations, so Foul Legacy is actually the one who nudges you towards learning it! morse code definitely helps when he desperately needs to tell you something in words, his crystalline eye blinking on and off as you do your best to translate, and if you get it right he coos happily and snuggles his face into your hands, leaning into your palms until you relent and scratch behind his horns. plus, it makes for a very handy and quiet communication method that not many other people (unless they're sailors) can understand (Zhongli has asked why you were holding back laughter at multiple occasions... you don't have the heart to tell him it's because Foul Legacy was mimicking his long speeches in morse code behind him)

I loved it when everyone used to talk in the tags! I still do it sometimes but I've noticed a lot of people get annoyed by it lately (probably due to people from other platforms coming to tumblr and just not being used to the experience? I see similarities with things like liking a lot of someone's posts too) and I get worried I'm gonna ruin someone's day lmao tags used to be so much fun to go through I would spend hours just looking through reblogs just to see what people were saying even if half of them were just excited nonsense. I hope people start getting comfortable doing it again I think that would bring back some of the fun tumblr used to have!

yes it definitely seems as tho ppl would write stories in the tags back then!! you can see a difference now for sure :/

but honestly tho friend you should put whatever you want in the tags! i used to feel self conscious and try to make my tags seem “cool” haha but honestly just being yourself and saying what’s on your mind in that very moment is literally the best. there’s no right etiquette for how to reblog things so don’t focus so much on if others get annoyed! poopy for them! i think in terms of being a context creator here tho i think if ppl are new and are coming to tumblr reblogging things really is the best way to help others. i know twt and insta thrive on likes but obviously it doesn’t work like that on good ol tumbly so that i can see why likes are more frowned upon than reblogs!

God this fandom is insane lol. I made a post the other day about negativity in the fandom and today my dash is flooded with "well sooorryyy if SOME of us arent mindlessly happy about this SLAP IN THE FACE of a fake sequel!!! we're allOWed to have FEelings and opINions that arent sunshine and rainbows!!!"

Which, yes, duh. But I really hope my post didn't spark these rants

Bcoz truthfully I was talking about the franchise as a whole and how lately it seems like no one has ANYTHING good to say about ANY part of the franchise which, while you're obviously free to have and voice your negative opinions, is nevertheless disappointing to see when you just wanna come on your Descendants blog and have a lighthearted good time

Think about how tiny this fandom is now. Aside from a few (talented and appreciated) creators, we really don't get a lot of new content. Do you want to scare off potential new artists, authors, or gifmakers from this fandom bcoz you haven't been able to think of a single positive thing to say about the franchise in god-only-knows how long??

Not saying people can't be upset about things in the franchise. Just saying if you can't find ANY joy in it, maybe take a step back?? I don't think that's too controversial a statement to make. But that's just my opinion!
