I find this crusade against the bot spam in the asexual tag(s) a tad silly but like do whatever but can ya'll please chill with the transphobia? I've seen like 5 posts today alone toeing a dangerous line of transmisogyny and like I get it the bots are annoying but you do realize those are stolen images, not real accounts, and they're choosing photos of trans women specifically to bait people/Tumblr into ramping up their transmisogynistic violence, right? We do realize that? And we're gonna agree to not fall for it, right?

So I was looking through Rei's appellations and:

SHU CALLED HIM HIS FRIEND. HE'S STILL ONE OF NATSUME'S BELOVED NII-SAN'S. THEY LOVED HIM SO MUCH, THEY STILL LOVE HIM UNCONDITIONALLY.

Even when Kanata would've drowned himself if not for Chiaki grabbing him, even when Shu was being barely kept alive by a desperate Mika, even when Wataru smiled and tried to reassure them as he calmly walked to his execution, even when Natsume could only cry from the shadows - none of them ever resented him for it.

But Rei resents himself, because he couldn't save them, or Ritsu, or Koga, or anyone he cared about.

And that is why he can't let them be that close - it'll only hurt them more when he lets them down again.

#rei does everything now under the guise of being this wise serene grandfather who knows all the answers #a child who did everything to find his brother a cure only for ritsu to resent him for leaving him scared and vulnerable #a child who tried so hard to lead them and could only react in horror when shu and kanata were executed #a child who so desperately tried to shield natsume from the worst and later realized how much more he hurt watching his nii-san's suffer #a child who watched wataru accept that they couldn't be saved and watched as the least gleam of hope fell in front of his eyes #But he was a child. #talks #dont the dragons feel kind of gendered to you sometimes. like when you look at aurene and soo-won and their roles in the story versus...#well anyway. i cannot find where i read this but i saw it a couple times so dont quote it but something about #how they couldnt imagine vlast achieving elder status and being the type to sit serenely in a cave as our ally #so thats partly why they decided he'd die instead. but like aurene was also a spunky spirited youth so why is #that something that can be imagined with her. not that there arent nuances in personality but like...you know?

my biggest takeaway from star rail so far is that i actually cannot stand paimon. not having an unfunny floating screeching creature with a voice that makes my eardrums want to rupture so they may never experience the sorrow of registering the sound waves she emits is such a breath of fresh air.

#i try so hard not to be a hater but idk what it is #ever since the sumeru archon quest i went from finding her tolerable to muting my sound every time she shrieks on screen #the peace and serenity i experienced during that archon interlude quest when she wasn't there....#then when she reappears it's like a jumpscare #i use JP voice over so her voice is 2% easier on the ears than the EN squeaky toy abomination #but it's still so grating #legit think prolonged exposure to paimon should be a breach of the geneva convention #that shit could break a prisoner faster than waterboarding #lock plays star rail
