HEY, A REALLY GOOD FRIEND ASKED ME TO SHARE THIS! We've worked together on a lot of films and projects and now their cousin is trying to fund their own film!
"My name is Rez Redacted, I am a queer transmasc Filipino filmmaker in the Seattle area and have little to no representation of myself in the stories I would watch on the big screen, so for this project, I'm taking it upon myself to give Filipinos like me a chance to see ourselves completely. This includes having a full Filipino main principle cast and attempting to have the best 2010s realism with miniDV footage. Of course, like any broke college kid in this country, I just need help funding this big gay dream."
I'd super love if anyone has any spare dollars to throw at this project. I can 100% vouch for it. It's only got FIVE DAYS LEFT as of February 25th, 2024! If you can't donate, I'd really love a share. Please help support southeast asian filmmakers!

"Hindi ka sundalo, Goyo. Isa kang...aso."
Tumblr media
"You're not a soldier, Goyo. You are a dog."
Got inspired by one of my favorite scenes in the movie! Can I just say, he had no soul behind those eyes in that scene. It was haunting.
Btw, his portrayal in the film gave me Hawks vibes. 20s, cocky, bird name, and larger than life? Haha

EXPENSIVE CANDY
Now ko lang napanuod Expensive Candy, and it was comforting for me, IDK. Ang ganda ng ending, ng simula, ang ganda at ang linaw ng pagpapakitana, it’s just a phase, a part of their lives but not their whole lives.
Tumblr media
Super relatable siya in a way na pinakita sa movie that we makebaddecisions, that there are things that will not work for us , and that there are people, and experiences that a r e only meant to teach us a lesson.
Tumblr media
It shows us that in life, we will face multiple phases, but we are capable of moving forward, taking with us the wisdoms we go tfrom every phase.

Hyacinth from the short film Black Rainbow is a mood
Tumblr media
Hyacinth and her little brother Itan ride on a wagon driven by a carabao across the mountains somewhere in rural Zambales. Hyacinth looks nonchalantly at Itan who takes a good long look at the surroundings. Both of them are Sambal — one of several Aeta (black people indigenous to the Philippines) groups living and protecting their ancestral lands in central Luzon.
to elaborate:
she was asked in class for a color of the rainbow and she answered “black” and even defended her answer
what does she want to be when she grows up? “a goddess”
literally the most accessible physical help to learning the computer that her little brother can get, and she gladly takes it on, with a stick
demands that her brother make his prayer to Apo Namalyari a bit more specific
I'm not Aeta ok but as an annoying older sister I understand
honestly if you saw this short you will love both of them
I hope she and her people doing ok in real life, at least in little ways because the fight for these mountains never stopped with granting titles

Kampon: Filipino movie review
All in all, the biggest problem with Kampon was that it was not a one-of-a-kind story that would shock viewers. It did not even deliver on cheap scares if that was what it was after. The monster design was like a weird mod of Lord of the Rings' Gollum but
Not knowing what to feel after an hour and a half of sitting through a horror movie is either a good sign or a bad one. In the case or Kampon, it’s most definitely the latter. Synopsis: Ex-cop Clark Martinez (Derek Ramsay) quits being a police officer after a mysterious traumatic incident. Elsewhere, a desperate brother takes his ailing sister to a faith healer to bring her back from the dead.…
