Spinel is totally the kind of person that would sympathize and feel bad for Steven if she were to ever find out how much he truly has suffered in the past during his childhood. If Steven were to ever tell someone like her all the awful and traumatic things that happened to him in the original Steven Universe series, she would probably even cry.

I COMPLETELY AGREE. Spinel already has really strong feelings for him in Future, and literally just by ONE facial expression he makes, she instantly tells he's not 'okay'.

She may not know why, but she knows he's upset about something. So instantly, she stops what she's doing and gets a bit more serious.

Because of this one interaction, as well as multiple other times in this episode, I agree with this ask - Spinel would absolutely sympathise with Steven, no matter what about. Even if its just his past with White, she can see something's upsetting him - so what if she found out about his messed up past?

Well, she cried in "I Am My Monster" when Steven corrupted. One of my BIGGEST wishes for Steven Universe Future was that these two could sit down and actually talk to each other. We hardly ever see Steven and Spinel interacting when there's no danger or peril going on. I just wish these two could talk about Pink, about being 'left behind', about understanding each others' pain.

And I agree, they would cry. It's Steven Universe, of course they're going to cry!!! XD

But whenever I think about this possible 'episode', I always see it ending with a hug. I've said it before and I'll say it again, gosh dammit, THESE TWO NEED TO HUG. PLATONICALLY OR ROMANTICALLY I DON'T CARE, I WANT THEM TO HUG!!! Out of EVERYONE in the show, these two are the ones who need to hug the most!!! (and that's why I love the back cover of the Steven Universe Movie concept art book so much...)

And, my dear friends, this is why I'm making Partners In Crime. Not because I'm one artist who wants to make a whole comic about my favourite characters of my favourite show...

just because i want these two characters to finally talk and hug.

Because dammit, they deserve it.

If We Were Villains wrecked me...I spoiled myself long ago. I had known of James's fate. But nothing could have prepared me for Oliver's grief. Ugly cried for him.

Oliver Marks is amazing. He reminds me of Elrond from lotr. Reading him, I could not help but remember Tolkien's description of Elrond- "As kind as summer," (Tolkien, The Hobbit).

So lovable. Oliver, the side-kick shines over every hero. Incorrigibly dense and unbelievably forgiving.

He had my heart the moment when he jumped into the lake to retrieve Richard's body. Not once does he levy the weight of his trauma over anyone else (God I love him so much).

Oliver, who not once is bound by the hubris of a main character. He who, without a complaint takes the role of a custodian.

Definitely going in for a second read.

What makes me crazy about the Nightmares chapter/episode is that Marcille doesn’t just see Laios as a dog, she sees him as Dustrag. He’s Dustrag, his childhood dog.
