Before there was Xavian, the sweet-and-spicy bodyguard space elf... there was Five. An equally smart but deadly gargoyle-like alien just trying to get the F off the planet so he can be left alone in peace.
He gets more than he bargains for, of course, when he crash lands in the Netherlands and meets Sanne.
Parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but as an author, I definitely do. Stroopwafels & Starlight's Five and We Own the Stars's Xavian are two of my favorite MMCs I've written!
If you read and enjoyed We Own the Stars, then I highly recommend moving straight into Stroopwafels & Starlight.

Something I haven't mentioned in the past because it never comes up in the plot itself is that yes, this book is still inherently queer, because Five is pansexual! If you're cute, have a cute personality, then you're game to him.
Sanne, on the other hand, is straight. No one has asked me about her, but I figured I'd mention it anyway hahaha.
I’m looking for the book community but I don’t think it’s as big on here?? Is anyone on book tumblr? (Bookblr? Booklr? What’s it called?) Send help and an instruction manual!
I’m obsessed with fantasy romance books and I just wanna talk about them a lot
Have you added Spells of Tarot & Tragedy to your TBR?
An urban fantasy dark romance book with spice that doesn’t overtake the plot about a young woman searching for her place in the world without her family, finding and choosing her own along the way in her friends. Intrigue, mystery, and thrill all come to bring you a book that dives in a secret underground magic world where not everyone can be trusted.
"The book has seen immediate success in 2023, debuting as a number one New York Times bestselling novel. Readers love the irreverent fantasy world and the witty characters trying to make a living in a villain’s evil lair. Sure, the villain equips the lair with a top-notch break room, HR, and healthcare, but there are still the trappings of a villain’s daily activities, reminding employees they work for a bad guy. If you, too, can’t get enough of this world, read on for eight funny, romantic, and fantastical books like Assistant to the Villain!
The following books like Assistant to the Villain give readers who are eagerly awaiting book two something to read in the meantime. They are a combination of fantasy romance books that have a dash of action, romance, and comedy to keep any Hannah Nicole Maehrer fan happy. I am head over heels for the odd little subgenre myself, so I guarantee these books like Assistant to the Villain will hit the spot."

Synopsis:
War cannot be ignored...
It creeps into all aspects of life even when those in charge deem it best to disregard its existence and keep their people in ignorance. The Kingdom of Ignis is no exception. As its Princess, Moira's life centered around mundane worries; such as picking what outfit to wear out of the hundreds, avoiding her lessons, and hanging out with her Scarlets.
But that all changes on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, when the walls surrounding the Five Kingdoms are breached and she pulls a wounded soldier up through her shadow.
Swept up in the rippling consequence, Moira must mend burned bridges and awakening the latent gift within in order to prove herself worthy of the knowledge and responsibilities worthy of her title.
To celebrate my upcoming m/m merman romance, Scales Like Stars, I got some beautiful art commissioned by artist Mon Reyes. Please check them out.
Liam and Kade have never looked so gorgeous before. I'm completely in awe. If you want the full image, which includes some interesting anatomy, ARC readers will be getting it in their inboxes later this month! If you want a chance at a free ebook of Scales and some very NSFW art, sign up before I close them!
When I first read this book, it wasn’t my favorite because I was expecting it to be this epic sapphic romance, and it is so so much more than that. There’s a phenomenal world based in Indian culture, and it’s so incredibly unique with its magic and its characters. All of the characters have nuance and complexities, and the religions that play into it all are just so unique. It ALSO has a beautifully done sapphic romance between a princess and her maidservant who may or may not be more than a maidservant, and the progression of that relationship felt so natural. So if you want a book with
👩❤️💋👩 Two unique stubborn, fierce women falling in love (THE LONGING THEY FEEL FOR EACH OTHER IS UNMATCHED AND MY HEART ACHES WITH IT)
🏰 High political intrigue
🌚 Morally grey characters
🔔Different religions that look nothing like Christianity, and the gods that use mortals like toys
⚔️ War is coming!! And the stakes are higher than mortal nations
then read the Burning Kingdoms for those strong feminist vibes and epic fantasy world
❝ Someone with edges rough enough to understand me but soft enough to bring a little brightness into my ‘dreary hermit life.’ ❞

🦇 After she's trapped in a tower by the emperor who conquered her home, Daella is eager to escape, even if it means making a deal with her capture. In exchange for her freedom, she must journey to the mysterious Isle of Fable to track down dragons and the dangerous beings that wield their magic. After a storm separates her from the ship and crew, Daella finds herself on the wrong island. Rivelin, a grumpy, handsome elven blacksmith, gives her shelter in exchange for a favor. Though they clash heads over the flames of his forge, Daella begins to experience something she hasn't in too long: a sense of belonging. Can she find a new home on the Isles, or will Rivelin's secrets tear them apart?

💜 Daella is a fierce, snarky, yet entirely misunderstood half-orc mercenary with a reputation that far precedes her. Rivelin is just as fierce, namely, when it comes to protecting the island he now calls home. The witty banter and snark in their initial interactions add to the rising tension between them. The fantasy elements (the magic of the Isles, emperor's cursed ice that allows him to manipulate Daella, and the varying fae creatures) are never heavy components in the story. More than once, I forget it was a romantasy (which is a good thing, as it allows us to focus on the characters, their flaws, and motivations). The prose is vivid, inviting readers into a beautiful, welcoming community. The story is heartwarming, presents minimal danger, and is a cozy read perfect for all.
🦇 The story ends with a HEA that feels rushed and out of place. Most disappointing was the lack of worldbuilding. It sounds like Daella's people had a lot of culture and history, but since it was mostly wiped out, we learn little about it. Dragon magic plays a big part in the story, too, but again, the details are lacking. Even the villain is distant, though their threat to kill Daella hangs over her head. The spice also felt like it came out of nowhere after chapters of snark and sass. The romance IS a slow burn, but the transition to smut (and I say smut, not romance, on purpose) is abrupt. That being said, Daella and Rivelin are adorable together (once they get their nonsense together), but that third act is disappointing and lacking.
🦇 Recommended for anyone looking for a cozy yet spice romantasy. Perfect for fans of Legends & Lattes (there's a bit more action in this one).
