Right, this will probably be one of the most wank-inducing polls ever, but I just gotta do it.
Personal opinion and explanation (kinda) under the cut.
Here it comes:
Why do I ask?
Well, to me it seems pretty clear Jensen seems ok with Misha getting his 15 minutes and acting what was important to him, but does not want to get dragged into it.
He has become more fan positive, but with the occssional foot in mouth and mocking.
I keep seeing takes like 'if Jensen has any say in the revival, Destiel will be fully canon' and I absolutely do not see it this way from what I've witnessed.
Dean is Jensen's most popular character and I feel what Jensen likes most about him apart from emotional depth and the hero thing is that Dean is 'cool' in old people terms. (Jensen is 'old people' kinda compared to some of his fan base).
He f.e. loved the purgatory storyline mostly because he got a rad new jacket and weapons.
He said so himself in an interview.
He wants Dean to be in the spotlight being awesome.
And yes, this will absolutely sound homophobic, but I think that Jensen feels Dean being openly bi would 'ruin' the character for some of his fans.
That doesn't mean Jensen himself is homophobic, he is an actor and interacts positively with queer people, but he has an outdated mindset (most likely due to how he was raised).
I know he played a bisexual character once, but nobody outside of his hartcore fanbase remembers that and he did not act it out on screen. It was all lip service and mostly about Marilyn anyways (talking about 'Blonde' here).
And then it never happened again.
In 'The Boys' he was so painfully straight it almost did not fit the show.
So I simply don't think it would fit his 'portfolio' (he is often type-cast anyways) in his eyes.
Then in 'The Winchesters' Cas wasn't even mentioned. It was all about nostalgia. And Jensen easily could have slipped in a neutral acknowledgement.
So, let me know what you think and why.
Also, no, again, I don't want to imply Jensen's homophobic, he is just socialized in a certain way and has an age where he grew up with 'gay jokes' being peak comedy.
This is all subjective speculation, I do not know that man personally, so I'm aware I have no actual clue like the most of us.
I'm just interested in how people come to completely different conclusions.

Re: Take Me To Church in response to anon-- a take by someone who first heard it a bit After it came out at the age of 20, was concerned it was overhyped, and on listening had to admit that it was in fact good. (Also disclaimer, I've got less context about like, Irish/English history and stuff than OP so uhhhh sorry this is just gonna be my own personal vibecheck)
Tw: sex mention.
A lot of my feelings on the song are more related to this bit: Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins, and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death and revolve around a. Possibly more sexual interpretation, so take that as you will (I was horny at 20 what can I say)
Okay first off let's talk about Why Church Is Horny. Religion and sex are both things that people often have a lot of feelings about. Christians specifically have even more feelings about sex, usually because they're saying it's bad. However, from a Catholic perspective, there's often a LOT of erotic imagery and stuff going on behind the scenes. See: lactating Jesus, saints' mysticism (for instance, Theresa of Avila, Catherine of Siena), and honestly just general medieval saints… people were SO horny for God. Plus, from an anti-sex Christian perspective, stuff still gets horny more often than you'd think. Milton was a Puritan, and that doesn't stop Paradise Lost from having originated Sexy Satan as a trope. All of which boils down to, coming from Christian, English-speaking cultural context a lot of your feelings about sex and religion, both of which carry enough baggage on their own, become intertwined.
So. All of that means you get the invocation of Christian stuff in the Bedroom anyway--lots of people say stuff like 'oh god' during sex, for instance. Think about the popularity too of the sexy nun trope, or even Destiel. A lot of people find desecration of the (Christian) holy, hot as shit, though it remains taboo.
For that reason! "Take Me To Church" being a song about sex?? About a woman referred to as a "lover," not a wife? Sex as worship? Get all those cultural hotbuttons pinged. (And that's just the first line we're looking at.)
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies Hoo boy. So, again, worship = sex? That's a lot as seen above. Invoking the dog imagery as part of deference to a woman also gets into stuff about gender roles, taboos, and the breaking thereof. There's a lot to unpack here-- deference of a man to a woman, of an animal to the holy, the admission that it is a shrine of lies, and tied into all that is the implied desire and consent to do these things. That's sexy!
I'll tell you my sins, and you can sharpen your knife Shame is a strong feeling-- one that comes up a lot when we look at this religion/sex network. Telling of sins evokes the Catholic sacrament of confession. And then we get to the knife. I don't know how to explain my interpretation of this without getting real kinky so uh, let's just say that pain and blood can have significant associations with both Christianity and sexuality, and the use of the knife thing in this context brings in Yet Another hot-button thing.
Offer me that deathless death I always just interpret this as euphemism for an orgasm. But! That's not to belittle it. Could a deathless death also be an assumption to heaven? In the context of the previous line(s), it takes on so many alternate connotations it's insane. Has he been stabbed for his sins? (That carried penetration imagery with it fyi.) Has he been forgiven his sins and gets to go to heaven? Or is it sexual release? With the ambiguity the song leaves, all three are possible, keeping up all those threads of violence/pain, shame, ecstasy, sex, divinity, submission… there's A LOT here.
Anyway I'm gonna stop there cuz this is too long. I don't even like this song THAT much, I'm just here to explain why people do.
OH YEAH AND PS: ADD TO ALL OF THIS THE SHAME/RELIGION/SEX FEELINGS AND ASSOCIATIONS CAUSED BY THE LISTENER BEING QUEER okay bye
I loved reading your interpretation! Thanks for the breakdown!

I'm a little confused what you meant when you said that hellers overestimate how much of the fandom they makeup but then not having Dean reciprocate wouldn't go over well. Those statements seem kind of contradictory. Why wouldn't it go over well if it's only going to make a small portion mad?
that's a good question. it is kind of confusing, but let me see if i can explain what i mean.
so, a sentiment i often see expressed in fandom is that the network/execs/show missed out on destiel dollars— meaning if they had pulled the trigger on destiel, they would've been able to make so much money and it would've increased viewership and con attendance and merch would be flying off the shelves, etc and i... just don't think that's true? i think there is a solid chance if they had pulled the trigger on destiel circa s12-13 (which is when i think it was most likely to have happened), viewership would've largely remained the same or gone down (at least initially. idk how it would've looked in the long run because i think that largely would've depended on how the story shook out).
but with castiel's confession, they sort of have pulled the trigger on destiel (or at least loaded the gun) and in doing so they've put themselves in a tight spot. i think they could've ended the show without ever having addressed it in any explicit way (no confession, just more of the same ambiguity) and it would've been fine. any future continuation could go on much the same way. but that's not where we're at. they've posed a question that necessitates an answer and while i don't think destiel is necessarily lucrative, i think flat out nixing it does harm them, especially at this point. which means the only option is to confirm it. dean has to reciprocate. they've written a story where there is no other option.
if you're going to acknowledge the elephant in the room, you have to acknowledge that it is in fact an elephant. you have to acknowledge that dean hasn't had a real viable female love interest since s6 and that the last person that could even remotely be considered a female love interest reaffirmed destiel more than it negated it. you have to acknowledge that dean built a family that doesn't look like a traditional nuclear family and he was happy with it and why. you have to acknowledge that you've written a man who has had subtextual romantic and sexual relationships with various men. all of these things could have stayed unacknowledged but they chose to point it out with cas' confession, so they have to acknowledge it.
from a storytelling perspective, i just don't see how they go forward in any satisfying way without dean reciprocating. from a cultural standpoint, i think cas' confession and destiel in general has made too much of an impact in the world of fandom for them to shoot it down. they blazed a trail whether they meant to or not. i think, given the state of the world and our sociopolitical situation, that it would be nothing short of cruel to not follow through on it and i think most of the people involved in the creative process of making supernatural know that. and i think that not following through with it on the original show is one thing. you're still catering to a general audience. but a continuation should be a love letter to the fans who've been keeping the porch light on for you and i think that crowd skews neutral to positive when it comes destiel.

Okay, maybe the Ackleses can conquer the industry with their understanding of PR. How did HBO senior executives decide that they could fix people's reactions to mediocre shows by using sock accounts to argue with people on Twitter? To make it even stupider, they also ticked off the poor underling they assigned the job, so much that he threw it into a court case over working conditions at the company. LMAO at these overpaid clowns.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/hbo-chief-casey-bloys-fake-twitter-accounts-1235634912/
Link. You mean social media can be used as a weapon?  You don't say?!
Like, is anyone really surprised?   My former colleagues were more mad that Boyd couldn’t be assed to make his own fake Twitter account but had to tell an underling to do it.  But I was, come on, most companies have a staffer or two doing sneaky social media things like this, pushing their narrative.  Hello, ever been on the Apple TV online discourse?  Apple has some good shows, but online discourse would make you think that they were already way out ahead of golden era HBO.   No doubt there are some dedicated Apple fans, but I find it hard to believe that level of devotion was natural.  And you know Amazon Prime does this, as they're the most desperate to have a cultural impactful show.
At least Mittens ran his own secret legendary Pierre Delecto account.
Why this was news is because Bloys isn’t some newly jumped-up exec or business major in tv flailing with failing products. He’s a veteran producer who’s been extremely successful at HBO for a decade plus. Why is he so thin skinned and defensive? Why does he care so much when he’s been so successful?  While his excuse-explanation is having too much time on his hand during Covid sounds eye rolling, there is a grain of truth.  Remember when I said here and here that what previously didn't bother executives were bothering them during the pandemic lockdown.  It was why Misha suddenly scrambled to say (unprompted) three times that he and Jared got along and it was the fault of J2 fans for tainting his reputation, not because of his army of minions who lost what's left of their singe braincell over not getting canon-Destiel like he ambiguously promised for over a decade.
An assistant named Sully Temori, who is now suing HBO for wrongful termination, was given the task in June 2020 to write responses troll with  X account of Kelly Shepherd, a so-called mom and herbalist from Texas with 4 followers.  The troll targeted critics for being a middle aged white man who was “shitting on a show about women” i.e. The Nevers. Gee, those words sound familiar, right?  It's 80% of what SJW say online whenever they come across something they don't like and can't handle different opinions.
HBO is best TV brand with the most number of Emmy wins (just ignore that HBO has the most number of members in the TV academy).  So like in the article, people were surprised that a successful veteran executive would do this.  Except you see it all the time: celebrities, accomplished directors, and athletes going nuts on twitter replying to random accounts with 8 followers, "No @BigDickTerry6969, You're the one who SUCKS!!!".
One of my nieces is in the industry and doing well enough that she said if she ever gets famous enough, she will use some of the money to put guardrails in place to keep her from googling herself or reading twitter threads about her.  She also wants me to act like an addiction-recovery sponsor that she can call in the middle of the night with, "We just dropped a new episode and I really just want to know what people think, that's fine right? I just want honest feedback.".  And I will be, "No, you don't, you have to resist that urge. I want you to go outside and look stars, okay?"
Honestly, reading about Boyd's antics was like reading John Grisham's The Pelican Brief and The Firm and getting to the Big Bad reveal and end up having Big Disappointment staring back at you. Tom Cruise at least improved the movie adaptation of The Firm.

What I find really annoying is that the “I’m all three” tweet spread so fast half in response to fans being so desperate for him to say something that nullified the “I was a young, good-looking, white, heterosexual man” quote from a week and a 1/2 before it. JUST like now. He’s trying to acknowledge his own privilege, and most of his own fans can’t stand to hear it, and still claim to respect his privacy while stalking alma’s account to try to get more data to back up their bias.
I assume since you are sending me an ask you also likely follow me so you'll know I do enjoy cockles a lot. HOWEVER, the lengths some people will go to 'prove' that Misha & Jensen are involved is frankly ridiculous. And the Alma thing is one of the most ridiculous out of the bunch imo. And tbh people calling any of it hard proof is just... not ideal. We will never know what goes in between these men and to me that is part of the fun ngl. I just went on a tangent here just to say that I have a hunch that those fans would probably not be kind to Misha even if he up and decided to date a guy that is not Jensen. And tbh I cannot be mad at them, because deep down I know that most of Cockles' appeal, to me at least, is due to never getting closure re Destiel.
With Misha it's always good to keep in mind that that man will say words recreationally. So both of those statements you are talking about are equally true and equally bullshit. Or were true at some point in time and then they weren't. It's always ambiguous with him and that is what qualifies him as queer, to me.
I totally agree that he always tries to acknowledge his privileges and tbh he is doing a better job of that than what you'd think looking at some of the replies he gets on twitter.

HBOnatural gimme the deets
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OKAY SO
I'm basically taking the transcripts and whittling each season down into 12 chapters (episodes) and making everything more intense/horror driven. Essentially a tightening of the narrative and finding the core driving force of each season and structuring the story to maximize the impact. Special spotlight on The Boys' trauma and all the weird, seedy things they likely would have done living the lifestyle they did. Making them more morally ambiguous, etc.
I've only gotten partway through the pilot as far as writing goes but below are my personal headcanons about the fic.
+ TRUE MIDWEST GOTHIC and southern gothic vibes
+ it starts out as weirdchesters but is very much destiel
+ Sam has a scar on his cheek from the fire
+ Dean has “your name” tattooed on his ass and wins an astounding amount of money by telling people “i have your name tattooed on my ass” and coaxes them into betting him to drop his pants. He gets hit only about 20% of the time.
+ Dean’s a speed freak but has pot plants hidden in nearly every national forest in the lower 48. Sam will roll with Dean on his birthday but otherwise sticks to pot or coke if someone offers. And the demon blood later of course. Dean flirts with Heroin after Hell but Cas puts the literal fear of God into him.
+ Oh Cas is T. E. R. R. I. F. Y. I. N. G. like sure he’s in a human vessel but he gives everyone the creeps as if they can sense he is other somehow. He kills people indiscriminately at first. Like a waitress comes to ask for their drink order and he smites her for interrupting. Dean is half horrified half annoyed like WILL YOU QUIT MURDERING EVERYONE THAT TRIES TO TALK TO ME WHILE YOURE TALKING TO ME??? (Which should have been his first clue honestly but even HBO!dean is dense at first)
+ Dean fucks every woman he possibly can because he may have a minor sex addiction (really he’s just touch starved) and it annoys the hell outta Sam in the early days. Especially when he brings them back to the room and essentially forces Sam to watch. He starts openly experimenting with men after his demon deal because who gives a shit anymore anyhow. He quits for the most part after Cas arrives because Cas just keeps killing them afterward.

previous anon is very close to getting it but unfortunately will never get there because they want to fuck Jensen Ackles so badly. anyway the reason Jackles keeps offering alternative interprétations of the confession - it's ambiguous it's heavenly it's brotherly blabla is because he's uncomfortable with gay love which makes him, you guessed it, homophobic
that and my genuine opinion is he may not hate destiel as much as ppl say, BUT, BUT, if it suits his career more to puppet the network and do damage control by making sure it stays ambiguous, even if it hurts lgbt ppl in the process, he does not care at all (certainly not enough to examine his own biases) bc he’s not a genuine ally he’s a rich white dude. full stop

StackedNatural Day 177: 5x22, 9x22, 10x22
StackedNatural Masterpost: [x]
May 13, 2022
5x22: Swan Song
Written by: Eric Kripke
Directed by: Steve Boyum
Original air date: May 13, 2010
Plot Synopsis:
With the Apocalypse looming, Sam and Dean realize they are out of options and make heart-breaking decisions that will change their lives forever.
Features:
The history of the Impala, the Devil in Detroit, Sam saying “yes”, Stull Cemetery, Cas flinging an angelic molotov cocktail and then being atomized, lego in air vents and army men in ashtrays, Lucifer and Michael in the Cage, Cas taking charge of Heaven, Peace or Freedom, Dean’s “happy ending”.
My Thoughts:
Honestly, this is still a great episode. It highlights a lot of the changes that came about in late seasons in some unfortunately unflattering light (I do love a lot of things about the late seasons, I promise!).
Mostly I love Lucifer’s relationship with both Sam and Michael. I really like the twisted kindness and mockery of family that Lucifer tries to offer Sam, and I like it because it’s ambiguous whether or not Lucifer himself believes it. It’s clear that Michael and Lucifer care about each other and have been forced into this position by God and fate. The tragedy is a lot more tragic if they loved one another. It makes Lucifer and Apocalypse World Michael flying around on wires punching each other look pretty stupid.
I was watching with Lyall and we did spend a lot of time laughing at Chuck saying that endings were hard in light of the trainwreck of the actual series finale. Same with him saying that nothing really ends, given the state of the fandom a year and a half after the conclusion of the series, and the terrible-sounding prequel being picked up.
Honestly, even though season 4 and 5 are probably my overall favourites, this would have been a real bummer of a series finale. In both versions, no one gets to be happy.
Notable Lines:
“You know, watching out for you... it's kinda been my job, you know? But more than that, it's... it's kinda who I am.”
“I see it all – how odd you always felt, how... out of place in that... family of yours. And why shouldn't you have? They were foster care – at best. I'm your real family.”
“Cas, are you God?”
Laura’s (completely subjective) Episode Rating: 9.8
IMdB Rating: 9.7
9x22: Stairway to Heaven
Written by: Andrew Dabb
Directed by: Guy Norman Bee
Original air date: May 13, 2014
Plot Synopsis:
Angels are committing suicide in Castiel's name. Sam and Dean try to find out why.
Features:
Angels hanging out in ice cream shops, Agent Spears and Aguilera, the Cas love fest, Cas’ cult, the effects of the Mark of Cain, Tessa the would-be suicide-bomber, Cas’ pop culture knowledge, movie traps, skyping the Scribe of God, giving up your army for one guy.
My Thoughts:
I watched the episodes in reverse order today, so bear with me in comparing this one to The Prisoner below.
Even though both of these episodes were written by Dabb, this one is better. The escalation of the Mark of Cain is way more effective at showing Dean’s deteriorating condition than it is in season 10, because here it causes him to attack potential allies and ignore rational suggestions to keep the Blade close.
One thing I did really dislike about this episode was the absorption of Reapers into the Angels. They were originally neutral creatures and aligning them with Heaven messes up the lore in a big way, and takes away a lot of what was interesting about them in the first place.
This episode is heavy on the Destiel queerbait in the best way. I had forgotten how even in context, Metatron’s line about Cas being “in love… with humanity” was so obviously meant to be about Dean specifically. Nothing in any of the scenes prior referenced Cas’ relationship with humanity in general - they were all about the Winchesters in particular, especially Dean, considering how he gives up his army to protect him.
Really though, the most Destiel thing about this episode is how Dean ranges from annoying to downright homicidal with everyone but the second he sits down with Cas at the end he’s all sweetness and smiles.
Notable Lines:
“You play the hero, but underneath the hype, you're a killer with oceans of blood on his hands.”
“He’s in love. With humanity.”
“Cas, you just gave up an entire army for one guy.”
“You really believe we three will be enough?” “We always have been.”
Laura’s (completely subjective) Episode Rating: 8.7
IMdB Rating: 8.4
10x22: The Prisoner
Written by: Andrew Dabb
Directed by: Thomas J. Wright
Original air date: May 13, 2015
Plot Synopsis:
Dean takes matters into his own hands regarding Stynes; Sam attempts to come to terms with his decision.
Features:
Charlie’s hunter’s funeral, Dean hunting the Stynes, Dean getting arrested, Sam’s trap for Crowley, Dean as Crowley’s weak point,
My Thoughts:
The problem with this episode is that like 2 or 3 scenes kick ass and the rest of it I was extremely bored by. I think there were better ways to remind us how cool Charlie was that didn’t involve a sappy montage set to sad country music.
Sam failed at killing Crowley because for a guy on a timeline, he was too busy monologuing to do the sensible thing and cut his throat with the knife while he was incapacitated. You’d think that after a decade of being the one that uses villain monologue time to devise an escape plan, he would know better. The best part of that scene was Crowley’s turn after digging the bullet out, but everything before that just had me metaphorically baning my head against the wall for Sam’s poor tactics.
I understand the idea of Dean’s plot being escalating violence and brutality, but it doesn’t hit emotionally because as he escalates in violence, the people he hurts are also escalating in villainy. I don’t actually care if he attacks dirty cops or guys who threatened Claire. I’m cheering him on as he kills a family of cartoonishly evil, murderous, sadistic psychopaths who openly control huge swaths of territory. Even killing the kid, though more effective on that front, kind of makes sense because he doesn’t have the context that we have for the kid’s morality. He came home to find the Bunker invaded, everything tossed around, and this guy presumably taking part in the burning of all his belongings. I don’t think it was moral, but it was understandable.
The only turn that really works is the one with Cas, because we know the emotional ties and the love that exists between them, and because of the parallels it has to Goodbye Stranger. Admittedly, that scene rules, especially with Dean’s theme playing on slow strings instead of typical fight music.
Notable Lines:
“From here on, I want you to know that the only reason you're alive is because I allowed it.”
“Maybe you could fight the Mark for years. Maybe centuries, like Cain did. But you cannot fight it forever. And when you finally turn, and you will turn... Sam, and everyone you know, everyone you love... they could be long dead. Everyone except me. I'm the one who will have to watch you murder the world.”
Laura’s (completely subjective) Episode Rating: 7.6
IMdB Rating: 9.1
In Conclusion: Magic solutions always come at a price.

Since literally NONE of us are even close to being at peace with the finale STILL, I think we can all agree here.
Make it make sense.
The entire show is literally about saving people and hunting things, solving cases and fighting big bads. There is nothing more out of character, out of plot, out of the central theme than the entire finale episode. Based off of ALL the canon SPN lore, none of it makes sense.
Supposedly it’s been 5 months since 15x19, and we’re all supposed to believe neither of them have been trying to get Cas back???? (They were literally offering to kill each other to get Cas back via Chuck but didn’t even mention it to new God aka their collective kid?)
A-they know how to summon someone from the Empty (via s14 Lucifer), B-they have some of Cas’ blood to use for it, C-Jack knows the spell, D- Jack IS God. E- Jack brings Cas back anyway and we’re supposed to believe Cas doesn’t go to the bunker ASAP?!? Cas? Bleed for the Winchesters since s4 Cas? That guy. Just noped for 5 months?? Lies. Blasphemy.
Next we have Dean’s stupid death (which sends the worst possible message to mentally ill fans btdubs but anyway…)
A-if Cas is alive and well, you want us to believe he wouldn’t have swooshed right to the dying love of his life?!? B- this is not the first time we’ve been in this situation this is basically the 15th time and they legit raised God almighty but we’re supposed to think Sam wouldn’t call out to Jack or ANY angel?? Sam. Sam Winchester. No. C- Dean suddenly believes in fate and “supposed to be” now? After not at all, strongly against, for 15 years?? Really??
Legit all of Sam’s life looked empty, hollow, and overall sad. He lost everyone he loved most and has to live decades alone. Sam may have gotten the worst ending of all. (Second to Kevin)
Canonically ALL of Heaven looked fake. Like I’ve said it before but so much of what they used mirrors the djinn dream and the beautiful room from s4. So much of it from the saturation to the brand of beer. But the writer’s and cast are swearing up, right, down and sideways that this is the real heaven & ending. Why set it up like that then??? Firm believer that the real heaven that Cas helped build would be closer to Rocky’s than *that*.
Dean’s reactions in Heaven also zero sense. A-seeing og Bobby for the first time since s7 and they don’t even hug each other?? That’s his dad. How were they not more excited to see each other?? B- “Cas helped” and you want us to fully believe Dean isn’t shocked by that? Not a tad miffed? 5 months and he’s def been mourning most of that time and I’m betting some praying occurred. Zero follow up questions? There’s NO way. A *wing flap*and a “hello, Dean” is ALL we needed. C- heaven time goes differently but he was just with Sam, why would he want to see him first over every one else that’s already IN heaven. (Yes there are ways around covid that they could have pulled it off, ✨technology) D- this man spent his ENTIRE life inside the Impala. Yes, he loves Baby. Yes, she would be in his heaven. But that man wanted to go to the beach! He wanted his own place. His own bar. We’re supposed to believe he wanted to go for a drive first and foremost? No. And just leave Bobby after a 2min convo?! No.
There’s probably more but I just can’t wrap my head around any of the finale at all. I don’t understand how any one considered it good. The acting was good. It was emotional. But we simply did not watch the same show the same way if they’re not enraged by how much it got horribly wrong. If one day in the future they come out with whatever reboot and they’re like L-O-L the finale wasn’t “real” and it was bad on purpose THEN it’ll make sense. But i think that’s genuinely why none of us can move on. Cause WTF WAS THAT?!?

Lets talk about the Bare Minimum
Okay guys, obviously there is a huge divide here among those of us that are super positive and excited and those of you that are really doubtful the finale will give us anything remotely worthwhile. So lets break this down okay? Perhaps it can get us all on a fairly level playing field?
What is the absolute bare minimum the Supernatural Finale can give us to satisfy us?
Everyone will have different ideas of course, but if we dismiss all our wildest dreams and high expectations and consider the fact that yes, this is still Supernatural and they do tend to run on a mix of batshit crazy, profound and poetic beauty, and things seemingly falling into place so perfectly it was clearly 100% accidental (eg: The Monster at the End of this Book) then we should probably try to find a centre point. A point that we can use to gauge how the episode will fair overall.
So what is the bare minimum?
Castiel returns
This is it. This should be the bare minimum we should expect in order to make this finale meaningful.
If we are given nothing else, Cas returning should be enough for us to nod and say “okay Supernatural. You tried. You got him back. He was there for the finale. That’s the main thing.”
If Castiel isn’t back and the finale is just Sam and Dean driving around looking for generic MOTW hunts like in Season 1 in some sort of bronly wet dream, that would be a massive anticlimax and miserable way to end the series. It will be the worst ending of a show since GoT.
BUT we know Misha filmed 20. I will hear no more to the alternative. Misha filming 20 is and always has been a fundamental FACT.
So Castiel returns. Bare minimum met? Right? Of course there are caveats to that key point.
Castiel returning in flashback form only, or as a memory or dream, whilst the actual Castiel still remains in the Empty is NOT an acceptable option. If the show takes this route, this is still below the bare minimum. This would be deemed a failure in my opinion just as if the finale is just Sam and Dean being bros on the road.
What really needs to happen for the bare minimum to be met, is for Castiel to be rescued from the Empty. Whether that is by Jack, by Dean, or by himself or some other means, Castiel must return from the Empty to fix the only actual loose end not tied up in 15x19. We should also finally get the Empty being sent back to sleep, because having just binge watched episodes 12-18 all in one week, let me tell you, the amount of times it is repeated that the Empty desperately wants to go back to sleep is a LOT. From what I have been told, the Empty isn’t even mentioned in 19, so that is the only plot point actually still hanging over the series.
Of course, had Castiel not confessed his “homosexual feelings of love” for Dean in 15x18, then at this point I would have said that the bare minimum I needed was for Cas to be saved, and for Dean to give him a heartfelt hug and a look of love and to say “lets go home” off into a future where we know the story ends with Dean and Cas together in an ambiguous relationship. (Honestly, for a long time, this is the ending I thought we would get).
But Dabb and Bobo have written themselves into a very specific corner.
Castiel’s confession was not ambiguous. Because of this, the big question hanging over the final ever episode of the longest running genre show on TV, isn’t about whether the heroes will stop the big bad, it isn’t whether or not they will live or die, nope, it’s whether the lead male character will reciprocate romantic love for his “equally male” (Note - I’m talking in terms of mainstream here don’t @ me) best friend. The big question Supernatural has gone and put to its audience is “is Dean Winchester also in love with Castiel and therefore, is he also queer?”
This is an unpresedented situation that the show has put itself in.
Because of this, the bare minimum is no longer just Castiel being saved. It’s also Dean answering that question that the show has put to us.
Castiel must be saved, and the love confession must be addressed. These things are the key points going into this final episode. If either of them are glossed over in any way, the show would have fundamentally failed it’s audience, its characters, it’s cast, and everyone involved in it. Given how optimistic and happy everyone who works on the show seems to be currently, I highly doubt that is the case.
So. Castiel must be saved, and the confession must be addressed. Do we accept Dean rejecting Cas?
There is I suppose, a very slim chance that this could happen. If the Network let their own homophobia get to them (before you come @ me, no I don’t consider the CW’s many young attractive lesbian characters to let them off the hook for years of avoiding any non stereotypical queer men. IT’S TOTALLY DIFFERENT) then they may have greenlighted Cas’s queerness whilst refusing to do the same for Dean. They may consider simply saving Castiel and therefore #resurrectingyourgays as enough to satisfy the queer viewers, even though Castiel’s love was not returned. Perhaps in the final episode we will get a flashforward to years down the line and Cas has got over Dean and is living it up with another man? It’s possible right?
It would also cause utter outrage in the fanbase. Dabb and Bobo are far more savvy than fandom gives them credit for. I personally think that had the network said no to Dean reciprocating Castiel’s love, then Dabb and Bobo would have kept it ambiguous, and simply strongly implied that they end up together in an ending like the one I always thought we would get when my hopes for Destiel were at a low point.
So Dean reciprocating Castiel’s love also falls under the bare minimum requirements for the episode to be a success.
How they go about showing Dean reciprocating Cas’s feelings I don’t know. Do I absolutely need a kiss? No. It’s not a bare minimum requirement. Anything beyond Dean simply telling Cas he loves him back and Cas smiling at him is a bonus. Perhaps they could show it the way they showed Jesse and Cesar in 11x19. Through affection and care, but no actual kisses.
Whilst I personally believe we will get a kiss, it’s not a bare minimum, and if we don’t get one I will still be satisfied so long as we get all of the following:
Castiel is saved from the Empty
Dean reciprocates his love
Dean and Cas end up together (whether that be to live lives together on Earth, or both go out fighting and reunite in heaven together. Whatever the case, they must end up together)
My 3rd point here is the only other bare minimum requirement I need to not feel like they have screwed it up. I don’t care whether Dean and Cas end the show alive or dead. What I DO care is that regardless of where they end up, be it Earth, Heaven, or even Purgaytory, they are together. They must end the series together.
There are of course many other things I want. I want Cas to give up his grace (by choice) and become a human (I really wanna see him in Winchester plaid at least once!). I want to see them slow dancing like Garth and Bess did in 15x10. I want Sam to reunite with Eileen and also get a happy ending. I hope they get to keep the damn dog too. Ideally, I want a soft epilogue, because these boys are good people, and they’ve suffered enough. Whatever else may happen though, so long as those bare minimum requirements are met, I will consider the ending a resounding success.
Personally, I don’t think I’m asking for much.

So part of the reason it's worse than SPN is because at the very least there was acknowledgment that it wasn't all in your head. SG literally did a water downed version of the Korrasami ending while putting SOOOOO much emphasis on the word friend. It would have been better if one of them acknowledged it and it wasn't reciprocated because then there's at least tht validation that you weren't making it up. You weren't just seeing what you wanted to see. And while everyone that's not viewing everything through a heterosexual gaze could see the subtext, at the end of the day the show went out of its way to make the fans seem delusional and the ending onlu served to bolster that.
On top of that they started playing Landslide, which anyone that was around during Glee, knows that that song holds tremendous meaning for the gay women, it was the little bit of acknowledgement for Brittana before they became canon. So to couple that lack of acknowledgement with the overemphasis on friendship and then that song, it's definitely in my book as the worst queer bait. I'm 30, I've seen a lot of it in my day and this one was especially egregious.
Please don't take this as downplaying what they did with SPN, because that was atrocious. Just giving a little context.
I definitely take your point that having SOME canonical acknowledgement of it counts for a lot. And to be fair to Supernatural, they did do that. It was horrifically unsatisfying for a wide variety of reasons, but they did technically 'go there.'
(Although, now there is a weird attempt by number of parties involved with SPN to retcon it into being platonic or ambiguous. So just understand - people (including people involved with the show) will still call you a delusional shipper even AFTER they put in an explicit love confession. There is literally no escaping that. No matter how concrete it seems, people will still do their very utmost to de-queer it)
But here's where I would still argue SPN keeps its #1 title in this arena (and I will very much grant, the following analysis IS subjective and based on my personal criteria for evaluating something like this):
1) Supernatural was just ON for a much longer time than Supergirl, and Lena Luthor wasn't even a character until season 2. That queerbait lasted 5 seasons and 96 episodes. Supernatural was on for 12 seasons that included Castiel, he appeared in 148 episodes, and he was part of the narrative for over 260 episodes. In other words, Supernatural fans were strung along for a much longer span of time (both in terms of calendar years and in terms of story-content).
2) Supernatural also I think takes the cake for nature of narrative they constructed around Destiel. I've seen a number of queerbaits in my day, and a lot of them primarily manifest as a strong, romantically coded intimacy between the two characters. The writers use stereotypical romantic tropes with the characters, there are running textual ~jokes~ that suggest they have a romantic dynamic, the two characters simply have a bond that seems deeper than a typical friendship. I've seen this in a number of pairings - Johnlock, House/Wilson, Rizzoli/Isles, SwanQueen, etc.
And Supernatural has that in excess, don't get me wrong. But I need to emphasize something here that is very literal and not hyperbole: in the canon of Supernatural, Castiel's love for Dean is literally holding up their whole cosmic universe. Literally.
It's hard to summarize how this is so succinctly, but basically, God is the final antagonist within Supernatural and he eventually explains he's been trying to end Sam and Dean's story by having one of them kill the other one. He keeps trying to make this happen but it never quite works, and so the story keeps going and going.
And the reason it doesn't work is because Castiel defies Heaven and God (due to his love for Dean) which throws the story off track, and God never manages to get it back on track again.
In the canon of Supernatural, God has been writing the Sam & Dean story over and over and over and over again, trying to get it perfect. Each version happens in 1 universe, and there have been thousands of versions/drafts/universes. And in every other version he writes, one of the brothers kills the other, which brings the story to a close (and ends that universe).
Eventually God explains that in all those other universes where the story happened as he planned, Castiel never rebels for Dean. He continues to be loyal to heaven. The ONLY universe where Sam & Dean avoid the fate God has chosen for them is the one where Castiel falls in love with Dean, and defies God for him. Which keeps their universe intact.
This is a canonical part of Supernatural's story and mythology.
~*~
I get how frustrating it is for two same gender characters to be written in such a strongly romantic way and to get no acknowledgement or satisfaction from it. I've had that experience a number of times and it is always agonizing.
But Supernatural CANONIZED textually that Cas's gay love for Dean was more powerful than God and the only thing keeping their universe from collapsing.
For this reason (IMO) Supernatural remains in its own category when it comes to the narrative significance of the same gender romance they STILL refuse to even name as such, unequivocally.

hey this is gonna sound weird but I got back into spn VERY RECENTLY and I want to draw something for Nov 5th (used to do spn fanart way back in the day) but I haven't seen a bunch of the eps from the last few seasons (post S11). I don't have time to rewatch them all before the 5th, do you have a list of eps I should prioritize? Also I'm open to concepts/ideas for the art, I'm good at realism mostly. thank u sooooo much for ur help but also I blame u and the hellers in general for pulling me back in so the art is gonna be dedicated to u guys
hey, that's awesome!! i'm very glad you're back!! here's some episodes you might want to cram in before nov. 5th, from s12 onward! bolded are, in my opinion, essential in terms of understanding either the plot or the fandom (’C’ for ‘cule as in desticule) but of course i’ll advise that you read the plot summaries for any eps you can’t watch, including those that aren’t listed!!
s12e1 — keep calm and carry on : first ep of the season, i assume this would be easiest to start with so you can recall s11, and also just so you can get the gist of where the season will be headed. [PLOT]
s12e8 — LOTUS : introduces you to kelly kline. it's not my favorite and it's a bucklemming ep but plot-wise it might be important to know who kelly is, though tbh you can just read the synopsis and you should be fine. [PLOT]
s12e10 — lily sunder has some regrets : just a genuinely great episode! lots of cas background info and dean/cas moments [C]
s12e12 — stuck in the middle with you : davy perez ep!! cas says i love you!! sorta plot-heavy i GUESS? but if you want destiel angst then this is for you. it's mostly about the angst. [C]
s12e19 — the future : really important in terms of jack [PLOT]
s12e23 — all along the watchtower : season finale in which Very Significant things happen. s13 picks up right from where this leaves off. beginning of the widower arc. [PLOT, C]
s13e1 — lost and found : again, first ep of s13, lots of destiel angst (beautiful beautiful angst. the jacting joices....superb) [PLOT, C]
s13e4 — the big empty : cas!!! answers the question of what happened to him. [PLOT]
gonna go ahead and mention here that in order to watch s13e6 you should probably watch, like. the last ten minutes of s13e5, because again, ep 6 picks up right where ep 5 leaves off.
s13e6 — tombstone : destiel must-watch and end of the widower arc. also significant in terms of jack's development [PLOT, C]
s13e10 — wayward sisters : read the synopsis of ep 9 beforehand though if you want to get a background on kaia. [PLOT, C]
s13e16 — scoobynatural : 'nuff said. [C]
s13e19 — funeralia : not necessary but there’s a good amt. of rowena and cas in this ep so <3 [C]
s13e23 — let the good times roll : season finale, lots of stuff happens plot-wise [PLOT]
s14e1— stranger in a strange land : “i thought you two were joined at the—you know. everything.” really a slow ep tbh, but read the synopsis [C]
s14e3 — the scar : dean is back! there is a scene bt dean/cas in which the score makes me lose my goddamn mind. [PLOT, C]
s14e4 — mint condition : not essential, but a favorite. you’ll especially want to watch it if you’re a dean girl (gn) [C]
s14e7 — unhuman nature : again not necessary, but good jack development/jack scenes with his family [C]
s14e8 — byzantium : VERY important plot wise, re: cas and jack. [PLOT, C]
s14e10 — nihilism : so good. so very very good. also, pamela barnes. [PLOT, C]
do not watch s14e13 lebanon. i repeat, disregard lebanon.
s14e14 — ouroboros : again, one of my faves. gay motw, and v cute scene between dean and cas (: also, rowena!!! [C]
s14e17 — game night : the plot in this ep bleeds through onto the divorce arc of season 15. the ending is...ambiguous, but you can either watch 14x18 or find out what happens in the summary of that ep [PLOT]
s14e20 — moriah : again, a season finale. eps 18-20 really hinge on the events of 14x17, so all you really need to know is that they’re all v upset about [redacted redacted], which happens in ep 17. [PLOT]
s15e3 — the rupture : what i consider to be part one of three re: the divorce arc. also we’ve got a good smattering of characters and it’s important for plot reasons [PLOT, C]
s15e6 — golden time : part 2 of 3 in divorce arc. definite angst, lots of cas, and lots of eileen ((: [PLOT, C]
s15e9 — the trap : now, ofc this is part 3 of 3 in the divorce arc, and while it may be a great dean/cas ep, i must say it’s also one of my favorite sam episodes. sorry, but you really can’t skip this one!! [PLOT, C]
s15e10 — the heroes' journey : one of my favorite episodes, but it's garth-centric and you can really read all you need to know via episode summary but still. the implications of this ep haunt me. why lamp. [C]
s15e17 — unity : lots of god-stuff happening, and it leads into 15x18 [PLOT, C]
s15e18 — despair : the last episode of spn!! [PLOT, C]
so, added up, that’s 4 essential eps in season 12, 4 essential eps in season 13, 4 essential eps in season 14, and 5 essential eps in season 15. grand total of 17 eps across all four seasons! (which is less than one full season of the show)
quick run down in case you need a TL;DR:
season 12: episodes 1, 10, 19 and 23
season 13: episodes 1, 6, 10, and 23
season 14: episodes 3, 8, 10, and 17
season 15: episodes 3, 6, 9, 17, and 18
now, if you need to narrow it down even further, i’d prioritize the eps that are labeled “[PLOT, C]” (12 eps) as those are important plot-wise and also for references w/i the fandom. good luck, i hope this helped!!

If you’re Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, or Jared Padalecki.
STOP.
Read this post.
Dear J2M,
This is an open letter for you three written by a couple of unhappy passionate fans.
We write this to you because we know at least one of you has a secret Stan account and creeps on the destiel hashtag from time to time. Don’t lie. (Ahem. Misha Collins. Looking at you, Sir.)
With the subtle hints and possibility of a revival, us here at BarrenHeart (Bee and Jay) have some thoughts on what we think a reboot/continuation/revival would look like if it was done well.
Note: we don’t speak for the whole fandom(obviously). And we don’t even speak for all of the Cas/destiel fans. This is from our observation of the fandom after 15x18 and the finale, plus our own opinions.
Here are our demands suggestions for the potential revival.
--Castiel--
First things first. Castiel is brought back.
And by that, we mean he is either shown to be rescued from the empty, Jack rescues him from the empty, or by some other means, that man is not left there to suffer for all of eternity.
Castiel is a lead character.
Not a guest star, not “and Misha Collins.” No. Misha Collins gets to be in every d*mn episode. He is an equal lead alongside Dean and Sam. Which leads into the next point.
Castiel gets his own storyline.
It can be connected to Dean in some way, but he needs his own arc, y’all. Don't care what that is, but he IS his own character. So, some form of personal growth or whatever needs to happen. He is a badass and deserves a good storyline. Also…
Give this M-- F-- (mother father) his wings back!
Yes, he died without ever having his wings return to their full power. Like? We know he was nerfed so he wouldn't overpower Sam and Dean. Prove to us that he can be a fully powered badass and still work alongside Sam and Dean. No need to get rid of that.
Human!Cas does not mean pathetic Cas.
There is a divide on whether Castiel should stay an angel. Personally, we like human Cas. However, human Cas was shafted in the series. If you make him human in any way, shape, or form, he’s gonna still have to be a badass. Don’t whimp him!
He can be a good hunter/pretend FBI agent just like Sam and Dean!
So, make him one! Let him do more cases. On his own. With other people. With Sam. With Dean. He can fight without powers, too.
Give him love!
For the love of freaking Jack, let that man know he is loved by people. Not even mentioning anything romantic, he still needs platonic love y’all. Let Sam say it, let Jack say it. Let anyone in his family tell him that he is loved. Not once in this series did Cas hear that anyone loved him. So, fix it!
New style, anyone?
Cas needs other clothes! Please now. The black trenchcoat we never saw in-show? Boss. Cas in a black leather jacket? Coolness. Hunter plaid? Do it.
Confession Resolution
Speaking of love, come to some conclusion please about him and Dean. Give a resolution somehow, somewhere. We personally don’t really care how it’s done, but there needs to be something said here. You cannot just drop a confession there and just leave like it never happened. So, talk about it.
Adding this, I swear, if this is bros only, you WILL lose Cas fans. So, think about what you’re doing.
--Sam--
Sam is important!
Now, personally we have a soft spot for Sam. His character arc in Season 1-5 was great. Demon blood, powerful Sam was amazing. So, don’t sideline Sam. Seriously. We are gonna say in an unpopular way (as if this post isn’t already unpopular to some), but Sam got sidelined real hard in the last few seasons of the show. Now, was that what Jared wanted? Don’t know. But, Sam needs his own storyline too that isn’t just revolved around Dean. Figure it out.
Witch!Sam
Speaking of which, let this man be powerful. Sam is best when he has powers. Sorry but also not. He has been given all of Rowena’s (who is arguably the best witch around) spell books and decides to not really do much with it? No. He’s becoming a BAMF witch. Full-out, no word spells and shit. End point.
Sam in Charge
He’s not just a baby brother. He’s a grown man. Give him room to grow. Allow him to be a leader. Let him lead a group of hunters, witches, a whole team of people! He’s strong on his own, too. He's a big boy. Prove it.
He should fall in love.
Like, get married and all that. It’s a part of his arc, so keep it there. No blurry wife, my god! Personally it should be Eileen. She’s a badass. They also have a lot in common! Holy hell. They make a good team. So, keep that suggestion in mind.
Let him have the hero’s journey.
We want a good ending that shows growth for this character! He saw himself as a freak with powers, so…maybe he can use his powers now in a way that in empowering instead? Let him have an ending that doesn't just return to the beginning. Let him have gone through all of this changed for the better.
Don't be creepy.
Still keep the brotherly bond with Dean, but don’t make it weird, y’all. Don’t. Please.
Sam as a dad.
He can have a kid. But, Dean Jr? Eh. You might want to reconsider some other (Bobby) possibilities.
--Dean--
Now, with Dean, I wanna make this clear.
DO NOT K word THIS MAN.
This man here has dealt with unbelievable trauma, suicidal thoughts and even almost died by suicide in the show (okay, it was for another reason, but still!) He dies way too many times in this show. It’s not new anymore. Perhaps, when the show was newer, death might have been a bittersweet ending. But, now. It’s tarnished. It happened too much and the message of “carry on” got tainted to mean “there is only peace when you die.” That’s not okay.
Resolve his issues!
He has so much pain and trauma. Let him seek help. Let your audience know that it’s okay to process these emotions. Let him heal. He deserves it.
Dean’s internal struggles
This is piggybacking a little off of point two, but Dean has a lot of things he needs to figure out. We feel like his journey is more internal. While processing his trauma, he needs to learn that it's okay to be himself. This could include things about himself that he feels ashamed of or scared to admit. Things he may have repressed or suppressed over time. No more hiding who he is or brushing it off or making jokes. Be your true self, Dean. It's time.
Dean’s still important, of course
That said, Dean should still be integral to the overall narrative of the plot. Of course he's gonna go head to head with the Big Bad of the season/limited series, but he really should focus on what's inside first before he can take this monster down.
The Bro bond
No more dependent/unhealthy bond with Sam. Of course they are family and brothers, and will always be close. That's perfectly fine. However, its important to note that Dean was Sam’s mom/Dad most of his whole life. And, well, that never came to a resolution. Please let Dean resolve this issue. Sam is grown and older now, and even though Dean will always feel protective of him as his Big brother, Dean shouldn't feel like his life only revolves around taking care of Sam. There is more to Dean and his life.
Dean is complex
Also, Dean is not only about cars, burgers, and pie. It's like some of the writers forgot this. There are so many things/interests of Dean’s that are really cool and add to the complexity of his character. Keep those things.
He needs to resolve his issue with Jack.
He never said sorry to the kid. Not once after telling Sam that Jack wasn't family. He needs to tell Jack he is loved.
Speaking of which, Dean needs to tell Cas he loves him.
Okay. Who knows if you will make destiel reciprocal at this point.
Do we think Dean would have reciprocated based on context clues and what we have seen in the show? Yes.
Do we think this love is romantic? Yes.
Do we think you'll actually fully make it canon in a reboot/continuation? Eh.
Regardless, Dean loves Cas, so make it known.
Other demands considerations.
‘The found family’ needs to not be forgotten.
All the friends that were made along the way need to be included. What happened with Garth was great, actually. Do more of that. And by that, we mean include Jody and Donna. What are the girls doing now? Wayward sisters anyone? Bring Kevin back. Don't leave him to roam the earth all along like that. Either make him human again like Eileen or send him to rest in Heaven.
Where’s Eileen?
Hello??? Where? Tell us she made it back.
Claire
No idea if you can get Kathryn Newton back, but it would be cool at least for one episode. Please. Kaia? Resolve her storyline.
Also, Charlie.
Wtf happened? That was not resolved. We love Felicia Day. Charlie’s friendship with Dean is amazing. She deserves a few episodes.
Crowley!
Seriously. What happened to Mark was super disappointing. You gotta bring him back. His death wasn't great. Bring him back and give him his damn line already!
Jack!
I'm not fully on the Baby!Jack train, but he does deserve a normal life. He's three years old technically. He had no normal life whatsoever. He deserves that. So, give him that.
More Rowena please!
That's it. She's awesome.
Have a wedding.
No, really. Someone's gotta get married. Our pick: Sam and Eileen. Charlie is also a good contender for having a wedding with her partner, too. So there. Weddings are happy. We want a happy ending.
I will reiterate. Team free will lives. That's it.
Okay. Now, moving on to the next part of this. The elephant in the room. The thing a lot of us actually want from this, but frankly, we aren't sure if you'll do it.
Explicit Destiel.
If you've read this far J2M, then you're probably wondering when this was going to be addressed. So, here are the stipulations on destiel.
Go big or go home.
Yep. We said it. Make it explicit, full out, no ambiguity.
Honestly, you might be thinking what you could do to make it explicitly canon? Well, since there were tons of people who still think Cas’ love confession was just a platonic exchange between two bros (like wtf? How?), you're gonna have to spell it out for people.
But, some things that we may perceive as romantic, some people may not.
--Like, holding hands could be considered platonic between two men to some people.
--Cheek kissing could also be considered platonic to some people.
Not to say we need Jensen and Misha doing full on *** scenes to prove anything, but something more than a hand hold. Okay? Okay.
What we’re saying is basically, you're gonna have to kiss. On the lips. Yep.
So...I guess you'll have to figure out how you want to do that.
On when to make it canon:
You can decide if it makes sense to make it canon towards the beginning or towards the end. Honestly, there could be an argument for either. If it's made canon earlier, you could prove there can be a relationship alongside the main storyline. If you wait until the end, you'll leave fans wondering if you'll actually do it. But, the kiss being the major event of the finale could be worth it. Whichever you do, remember there are upsides and downsides to both.
Other other considerations:
Just realize who your fanbase is now. We’ve grown and changed. Like Becky, your fans have gone through a huge change in what they want from the show. Is the fandom all on the same page? Nope. Will they ever be? No.
You will not please everyone. That's a given. But, a lot of fans want to see the show wrap up in a better way than what we got. Destiel fans aside, the finale was not great overall. There are plenty of negative finale reviews that have nothing to do with destiel.
On top of that, society is changing. Slowly. The attitudes in regards to lgbtq media is quite different than before. You have the chance to make history. Really. If you make this canon, that will be a part of your legacy. You'll hit the news. I mean, 15x18 wasn't even the finale and it trended #1 that day.
We suggest that if you do decide to make it canon, it’s meaningful and you take the time to do it right.
So, consider your fans. Consider the part of the fandom that trended your show over the election. Consider the fans that trended a fictional wedding on Valentine's Day. Consider Misha/Cas fans who felt slighted. Consider your LGBTQA + fans. Just, think about what the reboot could achieve. What it could mean to a lot of people.
As always, we just want happiness and peace when we are done.
Thanks for reading Misha J2M.
Sincerely,
Bee 🐝 and Jay 🐦

Destiel meta writers who said the writing team was purposefully crafting the romance as queer coded to dodge corporate radar, with increasing material on the textual level turned out to be right. That the writers are pro-Destiel and trying to tell that love story as far as they could push it. We were right.
FFS do people need a truck to fall on their heads.
How is this still a point of wank, how are there still blogs that try to dress up as “nice” still running with “oh those Destiel shippers are such liars and such a cult, Destiel isn’t R E A L” how is this even still a thing and that’s what some people think is the....sane corner?? Uh ok.
Destiel is canon, that’s the upshot, despite any corporate attempt to stifle it, and the only ambiguity left is the exact same building blocks laid down for Cas are very loudly there for Dean and the only thing missing is the Dean mic drop to match Cas’s and the only reason Dean didn’t get to speak is a baffling abrupt awkard bad plotsoup mess of a series finale that devastated and hurt a majority of the fandom across character lanes, ship lanes, and factions who don’t get along, where several seasons of arcing was thrown away and several marginalized characters dropped off a cliff, and two romantic bonds that were A-plots snapped into thin air. Because that’s not suspicious at all. Keep telling yourself shippers are just a cult because you can’t deal with how canon Destiel is. Even in that mess of a series finale, someone at the show made sure to leave the door open for us. I don’t like the series finale, I’m not praising it, but they made sure we knew Cas was in heaven, remade heaven for Dean, and showed Dean’s smile, and all you need for the lightbulb go on here is context of all that came before, and 15.18, and the MASSIVE DANGLING UNRESOLVED PLOT POINT. It’s not adequate, I’m not even going to try to say it’s adequate, but it is there in canon, the promise of what we know would happen next. That is writers room intent.
Destiel is mutually requited canon.
Instead of grudgewanking at marginalized fans, try adding 2 + 2 to get 4.
DESTIEL IS CANON, DEAL WITH IT.
