i've developed some interesting methods of handling having a relationship with my mother who made my childhood/teen years misery and committed more than a little abuse.
as an adult, we have a very different dynamic, her daughters (sister and i) have confronted her with a lot of her bullshit and the things she both did and enabled. for some she has been sorrowful and even sometimes apologetic. she's a better mother to me now than she ever was when i most needed one. so i'll never actually trust her again, and she'll never be much deeper than surface level in my life, but we have something mostly good now, and on my terms.
however, she is very definitely one of those "i don't remember it that way" and "i did the best i could" mothers in a lot of areas, and has also always been the type to (probably unconsciously) emotionally manipulate the people she's hurt into catering to her hurt feelings about it instead.
over the years i've learned to get really comfortable with just not indulging it.
is she having a bad day, seems sad and upset? i'll give her a hug, try to make her laugh. if she throws broad hints it's a surge of hurt feelings about having driven one of her children to cut her off? well i'm just gonna stand there and not acknowledge or entertain it.
"well, apparently i was a bad mother" or shit like that? i'm just gonna look at her for a second, and i might either shrug or even nod, but i'm not saying a damn thing. i'm not awkwardly, uncomfortably, painfully contorting to her guilt trip nonsense. i'm not apologizing or trying to soothe her or reassure her or minimize it.
like, yeah. you really were. you know it, glad to hear it. we've definitely had that talk.
best kindness, most generosity i can offer her in times like that is not maintaining eye contact to bluntly tell her "yeah, you were." she can go ahead and feel bad about it.
it's not on me to make her feel less bad. she should feel bad. and i am definitely not someone she gets to seek comfort from about it.
hopefully someday she'll inch past just "poor me, i'm so sad and angsty about it" towards, like, examining the whys and acknowledging what she actually did wrong and work actively to be be better. in a few places, some of that has happened.
but that's her work. her job and responsibility. she can do that shit on her own time.
i say all this to offer a shoulder of solidarity to others like me. if you maintain a complicated relationship as an adult with the parent who hurt you and did you wrong as a child, that is okay. you get to choose how and if to thread that needle.
but you don't have to accommodate emotional manipulation and guilt trip garbage. stonewall it. walk away if you need to. don't apologize. don't try to make it better. that's not on you and it doesn't have to be. it's okay.

this situation reminds me of smth that happened in my city in australia (legal age is 18 for drinking/clubbing). an underage girl got into a club with a fake id. a 19yo boy hooked up w her at the club and they went back to his place and had sex. it came out she was underage, and he was labelled a predator temporarily on social media - but, to him, she was in a place that required identification of being of the legal age to be granted access for entry. the bouncers failed at noticing it was a fake, but this boy had no reason to believe otherwise but got labelled as a predator. and although i am not saying that underage people don’t drink, or that it still isn’t abnormal to ask someone’s age despite thinking they’re of legal age (in general convo/banter), but it also isn’t the requirement to ask age in a scenario where, by all means, legal identification checking had occurred i.e., them drinking at the official, carded after party the night prior to the night in question. i can’t say that george shouldn’t have checked, or asked, or whatever, but i also can’t help but think people are mislaying judgement on people in situations wherein they truly believe they’re with people of a legal drinking age. and we can all say assumptions aren’t good enough, which I Get, but we can’t also deny that playing 20 questions in a situation that comes with non-vocalised cues (such as everyone being of a legal drinking age while actively drunk) is always necessary, esp as nothing sexual in nature occurred.
Yeah while I do think that verifying ages is a good rule of thumb, that is because I have seen it go very wrong before. Other people haven't, and have no reason to believe a person is lying about their age. So I understand why george didn't suspect that they had people lying about being able to drink in their room, it makes sense.
And for people to paint that as him being intentionally malicious or preying on young girls is absolutely crazy because if I was drinking at a bar/party/etc. and other adult people around me were drinking, I would assume everyone is of legal age to drink because thats how the law works. Especially considering he initially thought they came straight from a high-security event.

Hanako VS The World
Nuance and critical thinking are two things that are very important when it comes to analyzing a character, especially when they’re written to be and portrayed as morally ambiguous. Along with that, main relationships aren’t always good or healthy. Bias is always taken towards a main character or fan-favorite, and that can lead to a very big lack of the aforementioned nuance and critical thinking. What does that matter? Well I’ll tell you what!
Tumblr media
When it comes to fan bias no other character gets mischaracterized, excused, or completely misunderstood more than Hanako when it comes to the Tbhk fandom as a whole. And I think that it’s important to -I don’t know- understand the title character of the manga at least a little, because understanding him can really help with understanding everything else. So here’s that.
Selfishness
To start off, Hanako is very similar to the rest of the cast, in the sense that he is extremely selfish. Selfishness as a whole isn’t always malicious, in the cases of Kou and Yashiro that should be pretty obvious. With Aoi & Akane their selfishness manifests into parasitic and mutually destructive behaviors. And someone like Teru it’s selfishness caused by forced maturity and obligation, causing him to isolate and only trust himself and his ideals. Hanako comparatively is selfish for unidentified reasons, but it’s to be assumed it stems from Amane. Amane being depicted as lonely, self-interested, and generally antisocial, but all of this behavior isn’t dangerous is it? In the hands of someone like Amane, who is just a child, he can’t do anything outrageous (other than murder). Hanako on the other hand is capable of a lot, and with such capabilities, he does almost everything in his own self-interest and to the detriment of those around him.
Severance
Back to comparing characters, the fact that Teru and Akane’s interaction is shown right next to Nene and Hanako’s I think is a good point for comparing self interest. Teru throughout the boundary doesn’t tell Akane that Aoi isn’t returning, Aoi knows this (assumedly), Akane doesn’t, and Teru doesn’t tell him until they go past the point of no return. This isn’t entirely a selfish act on Teru’s part, Akane most likely would’ve died had he been told and stayed back, and Aoi didn’t say anything either. But it is still that, selfish. But see Hanako’s side in the same chapter, he doesn’t tell Nene anything either, he specifically doesn’t assure her that he isn’t disappearing permanently, he instead intentionally misleads her into thinking the opposite. And it’s not the first time he’s done something like this before either.
Everything for you for me
In the Picture Perfect arc, he forces Nene into a fake reality (along with Kou but he’s not important right now) and tries to make her stay. He pretends to not know what’s happening, and only breaks once he knows the illusion is fully broken, and then he just kidnaps her. If this really were an act of love or respect for Nene, He wouldn’t have been so forceful, he does everything in his power to make sure she doesn’t leave. And when he’s finally convinced, he switches to a different idea. When Nene said she wanted to live forever, Hanako instead of realizing Nene didn’t want unwanted help, he then went on to sacrifice her best friend so she could live. As he says himself, he values Nene over Aoi, which -and I can’t believe people think it is- is the most non romantic and messed up thing he could’ve done. He wants what he wants for Nene, not what she wants for herself, and that should show people that he does most everything in his own self interest.
Now, is he doing it maliciously or is he just doing what he thinks is best. Both, but that’s not exactly an excuse. He refuses to change, doing the same thing over and over again, always taking his beliefs seriously and disregarding what anyone else has to say because he thinks he knows best.
Tumblr media
Ending notes
This isn’t to say Hanako is a bad character, he’s incredibly well written and it does take a little stepping back to first realize his actions are flawed. But taking that step is incredibly important when it comes to understanding Tbhk as a whole. Every character is flawed, every character does good and bad things, and understanding and not justifying the bad just because you like them is baseline for liking a character completely. Tbhk is also a comedy! And I actually do enjoy a good chunk of Hanako outside the drama, he is the title character, so you kindof have to find some part of him to like so you don’t drop it completely. And just remember I’m not a genius and this all just me saying whatever shit I think, I’m not a foolproof source of toilet knowledge, I’m just a guy who reads sometimes.
Idk how to end this uuhhhh ninja out *kickflip

sculpting chisel
yandere! sculptor headcanons
Tumblr media
content warnings: implied forced relationship, obsessiveness, honestly really tame
in honor of miss galatea winning most votes for ds!! this isn’t proof read and kind of bad… also istg, i cannot navigate tumblr for the life of me; this app has me in shambles and in tears, always.
— yan! sculptor who is, smitten. you’ve charmed her endlessly, and she is absolutely captivated by you. as much as you are her muse, you are also her inspiration, and although she enjoys capturing your beauty and your beauty alone; she can’t help but want to sculpt a creation that resembles the both of you. it warms her heart greatly, and whether or not you like her statues matters little to her because she’ll show you them anyway (but she does expect some level of praise in return).
— yan! sculptor who lives in her head, daydreaming of you. if her darling happens to be a survivor, you really must’ve caught her eye. perhaps on a whim, she’s used to playing against the same survivors, but a new addition to the roster? how peculiar, and, enticing. you’ve piqued her curiosity, and if you think you can get away with stealing her attention just like that, then you’re sorely mistaken. she chased you down the entire match, though most of it was her simply following you and seeing how you behave–– observing your features, saving them in her mind for a later date; all while you attempt to dodge her statues.
— yan! sculptor who can’t help but sigh, disappointed whenever she enters a match and notices you are nowhere to be found in the survivor’s lobby. she waits patiently for the day she gets to meet you again, and when she does, she’s elated beyond belief. her mind is lonely without you, her heart even more-so, and her artistic motivation is s depleted. know that as soon as she sees you are sitting on one of the waiting chairs, she will use whatever means necessary to win the match. as much as galatea wishes to visit you during the standby session, she also wants to surprise you, it’s been an awfully long time since she’s last seen you, hasn’t it? may as well make it special.
— yan! sculptor who plays the game as naturally as possible, though she must admit, your mere presence makes her heart race, and her statues are less calculated this time around. when you eventually reveal yourself — whether it be through rescuing a fellow survivor, decoding nearby, or simply moving across the map in her general vicinity — she will immediately change targets. galatea is determined as ever, partially to show off (she’s quite good at playing the game, isn’t she?) and partially because she wants you to pay attention to her. by the time she downs you, she’ll give you an unreadable smile (you’ve not a clue whether or not she’s intentionally being malicious, but her next actions read otherwise) because she’ll switch traits, placing three peepers down in front of you while you’re incapacitated.
— yan! sculptor who leaves you by your lonesome — as much as it pains her to leave just as the opportunity to be with you arises — she still has your fellow teammates to take care of. by the time you’ve used self-heal and gotten up, she’ll chisel over to you via hieroglyphic graveyard and bombard you with statues, and you’ll find yourself back on your knees and incapacitated once again in mere seconds. galatea’s mind is occupied with how she will approach you once she’s done eliminating your teammates. it’s not that she’s particularly nervous, she’s just content with watching you, but she figures it will be unpleasant for the two of you to sit in silence (especially knowing you’re bleeding out). the thought of making small-talk with you crosses her mind as she sets the final survivor on the rocket chair, and she hears them being sent back to the manor while she wheels her way over to you. try as you may to crawl away, but she’ll find you before you completely bleed out.
— yan! scultpor who finally has the time to meet with you alone. as galatea stands before you, you notice she’s still chiseling away despite the fact she’s summoned no statues. there is little time for the two of you to converse, but she utilizes that time wisely; asking all about you. what is your name? what is your occupation? why are you at the manor? it’s quite rare for galatea to initiate conversations, but just this once, for you. she may appear like she doesn’t care about your responses, or that she’s more focused on her sculpting, but she listens to every word you have to say. your voice is engraved in her mind, and before you’re able to bleed out, she’ll extend her hand out to you, revealing the statue she had been chiseling. is it really that surprising that it’s you? don’t worry, she’ll make an even prettier one soon; one that’s grand, that captures all your details and features down to a T. she surrenders before you can bleed out.
— yan! sculptor who spends all her time in the courtyard with you after that match. galatea has you reluctant to leave the safety of your chambers these days, but you can’t stay cooped up in your room forever now can you? if her darling happens to be a hunter, you’re likely to have been a resident of the manor long before her. maybe you’re the first to greet her, or maybe you teach her the ropes of hunting, whatever it is, you’ve got her locked in. it is truly easier this way, she gets to spend more time with you. as a hunter, galatea would be less bold; she won’t need to approach you like how she would a survivor darling simply because she knows when she gets to see you again. she would definitely find patterns in your schedule, or at least study your routine enough to the point where she believes you’re becoming predictable. galatea would somehow always manage to find you in your downtime, though play it off and jest, “fufu… what a coincidence. it seems we always meet each other,” (she pre-planned this interaction three days ago).
— yan! sculptor who often beckons you into her study. she wishes to spend time with you, even if the two of you say nothing, basking in your presence is good enough. it keeps her mind at ease, and she sculpts much finer and nicer works when you’re around. galatea enjoys having tea with you, an afternoon event you would often partake in with the bloody queen and the photographer–– but no longer now, now that you have galatea. you have this gallantry to you, something galatea admires, and it shows when you set a cloth over the small coffee table and serve her tea. the majority of the time with her is spent in silence or scarce small-talk, but usually the sound of her humming is enough. at times like this, you may find her staring at you, but with her eyes pitch black and face expressionless, you can never tell what she’s thinking. galatea never shy’s away when you two make eye contact like this, actually, her corners of her lips tug upward into a sweet grin because all she’s thinking about is how lovely you look sitting still.
— yan! sculptor who adores seeing you dress up. miss nightingale gifts skins and costumes sparingly, so to see you in such lavish and nice clothing (though she would not mind if it was anything less) warms her heart. galatea believes you look wonderful in anything though, as she’s sculpted all variations of you that one could imagine; even your worn-clothes outfit. there is little she can do with helping you dress but she assists in whatever way she can, and although she isn’t the nervous type, her fingers tremble and her face heats up as she zips up your garments. as much as galatea loves to tamper with your hair and face, she would enjoy it much more if you were the one styling her. naturally, her hair is messy, tangled and even matted down, to have you brush it would be heavenly. and to have you clean her stained eyeshadow would be a dream, oh to wipe her smudged lipstick and apply it right. it’s a shame you don’t have matching outfits, she doesn’t see why not, especially with those two survivors — the patient and psychologist — having multiple sets together. but she does what she can, and will attempt to match with you with what she has, perhaps one day miss nightingale may be kind enough to offer you two costumes from the same essence, or better yet, a true set of matching outfits.
— yan! sculptor who asks about how your matches went whilst you were away. the truth is, galatea was spectating them, all of them. but she wishes to hear your opinion first, before she demolishes the survivors you played against that is. regardless of whether you had won, tied, or lost who knows how many times, she will definitely remember whom you played against; and she will definitely be giving them a hard time the next chance she gets to play against any of them. her spite will increase tenfold if you went friendly for them, though she won’t take her bitterness out on you, no, of course not. galatea is many things, but jealous? don’t make her laugh… but perhaps she does feel a little disheartened seeing you show such compassion and to the survivors of all things, your generosity really precedes you. if your sessions ended mainly with wins and/or ties, she will want to spend quality time with you, perhaps in the courtyard or on a picnic–– you can tell her all about the matches over tea and horderves. if your sessions ended mainly with ties/losses, she will want to patch you up if you’ve received any injuries or such. it hurts her heart to have to see you in such a frail state, especially considering her own physical appearance, and it makes her all the more vengeful when it’s her turn to play in a match again.
— yan! sculptor who is hesitant to play duo hunters with you simply for the fact she cannot stand to see you taking flare gun hits for her, let alone stuns in general. although the two of you would make quite the team, as she believes both your abilities are quite enough on their own, her temper may get the better of her in duo hunters. the eight survivors are a headache, and despite the fact she knows it is more efficient for you and her to chase different people, she will find herself gravitating back towards the area you’re in to merely check on you. galatea is determined to perform well in front of you — she usually performs well regardless of if you’re there or not — and if not to impress you, than to satiate her ever growing nerves that the survivors are getting on. but all the flare gun shots and stuns mean nothing in the end, in fact it’s all worth it when you congratulate her after sending the last survivor back to the manor; it’s truly what keeps her sane in this game-mode. and maybe if she does well enough, she can ask for a kiss instead.

Do you support proshippers, cause if so then 😬.
People generally do not take this as an answer but I do want to say it because some people do care.
But I don't. Because I do not support either side and assigning me to either side does not reflect my views.
I actively oppose the conversation and the way is formatted and I intentionally do not engage.
I am neither a ProShipper or an Antishipper. And describing me as either would be describing me wrong. Why?
Because it's not a cut and dry issue.
It's not like Pro-life and Pro-choice where the question is simply 'Should abortion be legal'?
The shipping argument is asking if a RANGE of topics ranging from abusive relationships or negative depictions of mental illness to literal CP are okay - all under one question.
Asking me this is like asking "Hey do you support people that age up Damien Wayne in fics *cough*(and also people who write horribly dangerous things like graphic sexual assault for their own dark amusement..those people too)*cough*"
Like...the question to begin with is flawed.
With a question formatted like that - there is absolutely no way to have a healthier clear conversation that makes sense or accurately displays anyone's views.
The conversation itself is to vague and too broad to offer any type of fruitful conversation whatsoever. And I stand on that.
Like, I'd say at least half of the takes I see from either side I think are wrong, ridiculous, or based on vague arguments that just don't make sense.
I'm Not a Pro-Shipper cause there is some weird shit out there I'm not attaching myself to. Because some people out there are deranged, and malicious, and this is the internet.
I'm NOT an Anti-Shipper because there are a LOT of fucked up things that do wind up in media that tell a specific story - and there's also shit in the conversation that just doesn't fucking matter.
If you're writing about a character who went through CSA and your goal is to show a story about someone who lives with that trauma? Great. I'm for that so long as you do your research and do it respectfully
If you're writing out the SCENES???? AT LENGTH?? Go somewhere. Preferably a jail cell but somewhere that's not here.
If you're aging up a character and headcanon-ing what they'd be like in the future for shipping purposes - or you're shipping characters with no in-universe confirmed age. I couldn't care less.
If I don't wanna read it, I won't support it. I won't give it kudos or views. It's got nothing to do with me.
If you're writing things that are openly racist or openly sexualizing a character you are clearly writing as a child - absolutely fucking not. Anime men I'm looking at you.
And if you write black characters involved in raceplay count your mfing days.
It's not a cut and dry issue, so to ask me to define myself in one word on a topic of dozens of different genres isn't going to give you a clear picture of my views.
You are more likely to get a more clearer answer if you ask me about that specific genre and topic.
I am vocally and clearly on neither side and opposed to a conversation that is narrow and often ends in miscommunication.
There's always going to be a Pro-Shipper or Anti-Shipper out there that I deeply disagree with.
I refuse to engage and support a conversation that lumps together very serious issues with very asinine things and then expects me to answer in one word at threat of harassment (not you in specific, but very realistically in general).
I am a person of complex opinions. You see my blog. You really expect me of all people to be able to describe myself in one word?
Maybe in the terms of "Pro-Life" vs Pro-Choice (I'm Pro-Choice obviously) But in this conversation I cannot do it. I am very firmly neither.
I hope that answer your question, and since I feel like this should be said - especially with the fandom we're in - I'm happy to answer your question.
Like I said, a lot of people just won't take this as an answer. And that's fine. But I said what I said.
If you engage in this conversation and you think I agree you, you're wrong. If you engage and you think I disagree with you, you're wrong. Cause I am simply sitting here in silence, writing my silly little analysis and looking pretty, and will continue to do so.
Now if you'll excuse me, there's a photo of Hobie that I need to stare at.

So um. Hi. Thats a LOT of followers so I wanted to doodle this thing for it, thank you so much for the support!! I want to talk about some things under the cut so feel free to read if you're interested!
So, first things first. I appreciate everyone who's followed me for Spamton posting and other stuff!! Though I also want everyone to know that I post mainly:
Spamton OCs
Spamton
Mario
Pokemon
Just general OC stuff(???)
If you dont like these things then you're free to unfollow! I dont want a bunch of people mass following me for Spamton and then be jumpscared by Spamton OCs.. dvwbtnbbt
This is my doodle account! All of my art eventually goes here, but if you only want to see polished / finished pieces, follow @battermesh !
Also. I get.. kind of nervous when I see a lot of people following me?? So sometimes I just stop posting for a while until things "settle" (mostly bc of social anxiety). I tend to be ok after a while but because of past experiences I just try to chill out and remember that people Choose to follow me. In actuality I can sometimes get pretty embarrassed over my own OCs so I mostly just post fanart on here with the occasional Spamton OC, and rarely other OCs.
Just some other disclaimer things before I forget:
My memory is pretty bad and my motivation is also sometimes equally bad. I love getting asks but I often forget to answer them, and when I do, I have to be in the right headspace to reply to them. I don't intentionally ignore them!
If youre rude / weird to me or my OCs, or sexualize either me or my OCs, I am instantly blocking you. My bar is a bit high for the first two things because sometimes I can't really tell if something is malicious or not, but when its clearly obvious with the intent to hurt, I will not hesitate to block. I mainly block bots / accounts without icons because I can't tell if theyre bots. I also block accounts that just make me generally uncomfortable, including accounts that post fetish content / sexualize stuff. If you sexualize any art I make I will block you no hesitation. My art is not meant for that and it never will be. It will never be for people like that. Im generally okay with jokes but when it gets creepy thats enough for a block.
I'm sorry that this is kind of long but I've been wanting to make a post about this for a while!! I'm genuinely so happy that people like my content, especially things that people could consider "cringe" and "embarrassing", like fan OCs. It always surprises me that people like my characters at all, and it really warms my heart to know that people are just.. allowed to make whatever they want and post whatever they want without worrying about like. Idk. Being put in a cringe compilation on youtube and laughed at. This is why I like Tumblr the most- I don't think I'd ever trust something like Twitter or Instagram enough to put my more personal art there. Tumblr feels like home to me, and I'm genuinely so glad that people here like my stuff. It makes me really happy / comfortable. 🥺🥺
Genuinely thank you all so much

Who do you think of the boys 'deserves' yui the most or fits with yui best?
thank you anon! now this is an interesting question because who deserves yui the most and who fits with yui the best are different things. and i have two different answers which i’ll explain below. under the tag will be general spoilers for all the games.
who deserves yui the most?
azusa. definitely azusa. of all the guys, i’d say he’s the only one who has never had any malicious intent. all the other characters have, at one point or another, believed they were better than yui and/or wanted to see her suffer simply for her to suffer. because they wanted to watch her in pain for their enjoyment.
now, azusa was never really like this. sure, he’s kinda creepy at first. and he does hurt yui, that’s true, but his reasoning is because he likes pain and he enjoys it, and he wants to make yui feel GOOD, so he hurts her. he’s unable to relate to her not wanting pain due to his childhood trauma. and obviously that’s not an excuse for hurting her, but i think it’s better than the others because his intentions WERE good. none of the other guys hurt or humiliated her because they wanted her to feel good. they did it to hurt her.
azusa also never really insulted or demeaned yui. most of the other guys, some more than others, very intentionally put yui down just to make themselves feel better (again, childhood trauma caused this, but they still did it). i feel like azusa is the only character who ever saw himself as equal to yui.
as the games progress, azusa obviously has his downfalls and he continues hurting others (lost eden, especially) but he always apologises. azusa is generally very good at recognising when his actions have hurt others and this is one of the reasons i think azusa stands out from the others. he always tries to make things right when he messes up and when he does, he shows very obvious remorse (crying, for example, which he does a lot) which again, the others don’t really do.
Tumblr media
so yeah, i think azusa deserves yui the most. is he my FAVOURITE ship dynamic with yui? no.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
who fits with yui the best?
ayato. i know. ayato? he’s an asshole. unlike azusa, he’s very obviously hurt yui for his own enjoyment, put her down and humiliated her, and in general was not good to her for the whole of HDB, most of MB and he falls back into those bad patterns in LE again.
but there’s just... something about their dynamic which i love. ayato spent his entire childhood being put down, called worthless, never thinking he was good enough. and he grows up as a narcissist because of it, deep down he’s vulnerable as shit.
and i think the one thing ayato needed in his life was someone the opposite of that. someone who saw good in him even when he was a piece of shit. someone who stuck by his side, was always there for him no matter what, and repeatedly told him he’s not bad. the moment for me where i really realised ayato and yui were meant to be was in ayato’s lost eden when yui finds ayato in the rain after reiji was mean to him. and she hugs him, tells him he’s a worthy king. and you know what? he cries. my man deadass cries.
Tumblr media
there’s other scenes too. like, ayato’s chaos lineage is great. when he apologises to her for how he acted when he didn’t have his memories. and for someone who comes across as quite emotionally immature, ayato is fucking good at heart-felt apologies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then when he tells her he can do anything as long as he’s with her? gah. i was sobbing.
Tumblr media
and in MB after story, he goes to university for her! ayato would do anything for yui. and i mean, all of them would, but i just feel like ayato and yui are meant for each other. he’s goofy, he’s a dork, he’s stupid, he just wants attention, and yui will give him that. he needed someone with such a good heart to soothe his broken heart.
Tumblr media
honestly the development ayato makes from more blood, through dark fate, then to lost eden is my favourite development. and how yui brings him closer to his brothers too. aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. she always looks so happy around him too and the fact they can make each other smile like that...
Tumblr media
i just love ayayui. they’re perfect.

https://www.tumblr.com/janemorris/729013196299567104 can we go full supermarket sweep on jailbird im sso hungry
Yes. We can. but im putting it under a cut because its going to be so long + im taking out the questions i already did
glance: At first glance, what stands out most about your OC's appearance? What's their distinguishing feature?
THE HAIR. jailbird's hair is a defining feature. i actually made a little list of jailbird's most prominent features recently.
Tumblr media
i still think the hair is probably his most defining feature, though it's pretty similar to glory's. i still think their silhouettes are distinct, though -- glory's hair is more coily, jb's is a little looser.
face: Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?
still got baby fat. when he grows up, it's a little more angular, especially in the chin area, but he's always kind of got soft cheeks. he's got kind of a perma-scowl going on most of the time. when he does smile it's usually kind of malicious in nature. he has braces.
stature: What's your OC's body type? How tall are they? Do they wear clothing to accentuate their look or do they try to mask it?
skinny. skiiiiiiinny. jailbird isn't really malnourished, though he could probably stand to eat a little better, but he is scrawny. very gangly. every time i draw him i think his proportions lead people to believe he's much taller than he actually is: at the start of the story, he's about 5'1, and by the end he's about 5'4. in the epilogue, his adult height is roughly 5'7. his civvy clothing is intentionally pretty baggy and layered to give the impression of more meat on his bones.
motion: How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?
jailbird is extremely flexible. think somewhere between a contortionist and a gymnast. he tends to move very quickly and always seems like he's in a hurry.
stillness: How does your OC act while still? Are they fidgety? Do they have any common gestures or tics? Does their clothing affect how they hold themselves while at rest?
jailbird is actually very good at sitting still. he has no problems with it. he can sit unmoving for as long as it takes, but only if he's doing it of his own volition. if you ask him to sit still, he gets huffy about it.
canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?
jailbird has his ears pierced. i'm struggling to think of any tattoos he might want as an adult. he gets a WHOLE LOT OF SCARS during his time as a supervillain, the most notable of which is A MASSIVE SCAR ON HIS ABDOMENT from when he gets impaled on his own harpoon. Best birthday ever!
night: What does your OC wear to sleep? Do they have a favorite pair of PJs, or are they more the birthday suit type?
silk pajama set. monogrammed. Actually im laughing really hard at the image of him getting them monogrammed with "JV" because thats probably not what his "actual" initials are
day: What does your OC wear on a normal day? Why do they default to those clothes? Do they wear similar things, or do they change it up?
i've noted this in his character sheet:
Tumblr media
generally, any t-shirt over any turtleneck, bonus points if red yellow black and white. this is really consistent in most if not all art of him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can even see it in haircut! red outline is apron, blue is shirt, green is turtleneck.
Tumblr media
as a fun design note, the school colors were intentionally chosen to oppose he and eugene's natural red motifs. something about institutional repression of individualism... i can't remember my exact justification for it, but i know it was something like that.
formal: What's your OC's formal look? Do they like dressing up? Do they have different looks for different occasions?
jailbird's not a huge fan of fancy events. he gets dragged to them sometimes but otherwise wants to avoid the public eye. i'd say the most you'll get him in aside from his school uniform is a t-shirt, slacks, and a blazer.
informal: What's your OC's lazy-day look? How do they like to dress when they're winding down?
he's wearing it in haircut:
Tumblr media
bunny socks are a feature that i outlined kind of as a joke while drafting haircut, but i liked the idea so much that they stuck around. anyway, it's his usual upper half with a pair of sweatpants or just loose cotton pants.
outerwear: What's your OC's outerwear situation? Jacket, sweater, cloak? What sort of weather do they deal with most and how do they protect themselves?
depends on the season. most of the time he'll forgo it. in the winter he gets what he's wearing in this picture:
Tumblr media
(he's the one in the middle complaining.) he gets cold easily.
footwear: What does your OC wear on their feet?
combat boots or converse sneakers. when in costume he has those big knee high platforms. scary!
road: What does your OC wear while traveling? Do they have high-quality equipment, or are they making do? What does their gear look like?
jailbird doesn't really travel that much! if he did, he'd way overpack and use the most expensive equipment known to man. it would piss everyone off.
armor: What kind of armor does your OC wear? Is it well kept? Bonus: where does it come from? Is there a story behind it?
jailbird has padding under his suit. it's supposed to be at least somewhat bulletproof, though that's only on the chest and head. he learns after the "harpoon to the gut" incident why full body armor is likely a good idea. he also has elbow pads and the mask functions as a helmet.
arms: Does your OC have any weapons? What weapons do they carry, and how do they wear them when they're not fighting?
oh yes. Ohhh yes. one of my favorite jailbird gimmicks is his bottomless pouches -- he can store almost anything that will fit through the opening in them. however, he has only a rudimentary ability to control what he pulls out. the more he uses an item, the easier it is to find which is why his harpoon gun is easy and why it fits -- it's huge, but it's relatively narrow and can fit into the biggest pouch on his side, and it's his favorite weapon, so it's no problem.
Tumblr media
roots: Is your OC's look inspired by any specific style of clothing or fashion trend? What are the roots and/or inspiration for their look?
not really? he's sort of loosely inspired by mall goth fashion, but that's more to do with color schemes than anything else. if i had to assign an actual aesthetic to specifically his way of dress, i guess it would be skater culture. which is funny, because he's not the skater of the team! eugene is! and eugene's aesthetics are based more on grunge and punk!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
texture: Does your OC favor any specific kinds of cloth or textures? Is there anything they can't wear or don't like? What sort of fabrics do they prefer?
jailbird prefers his clothing to be baggier and looser. his costume is built for agility and speed, so he's willing to sacrifice comfort for function. his mental state is also in a pretty different place when it comes to civs vs costume.
wardrobe: How big is your character's wardrobe? Do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? Are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?
pretty big. i don't think jailbird buys new clothes very often, and he's really good at sewing and repairs. i think the only thing he probably has to get taken in or buy replacements of are his shoes. everything else he can usually fix on his own.
makeup: Does your OC wear makeup? How often? What kind? Why do they wear makeup, and do they like it?
yes, all the time. jailbird always has some level of black eyeliner and eyeshadow on. it's heavier in costume, blacking out the space around his eyes, but he wears it all the time. he just likes the way it looks.
favorite: Does your OC have a favorite article of clothing or accessory? What is it? What's the meaning behind it? Do they wear it all the time or do they wear it sparingly to keep it safe?
the magen david eugene gives him quickly becomes very important to him. aside from that, it's his fingerless gloves. never seen without them.
change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?
nope. not really, at least. in the epilogue, he's old enough to grow facial hair, and he starts wearing short sleeves. and grows his hair out some. but he's still the same old jailbird. he feels neutrally about it.
alternate: What would your OC's alternate universe look be? If they're a fantasy character, what's their modern look? If they're sci-fi, what's their fantasy look? What AU would you want to see your OC in, and how would they dress themself? Bonus: Prompt an AU!
i've mentioned before the concept of the vey in tremont, which are a type of superhero predestined to die a violent, brutal death usually as a result of their own powers or hubris. when initially writing the basic concepts of new blood, especially for the characters, i considered making jailbird vey, and then decided against it for a number of reasons (mostly because i felt that in jailbird's case, it would lean too heavily into capital punishment), but it's sort of stuck with me ever since. i think it would be a lot of the same, except as soon as jailbird realized he was vey, he would construct and detonate a nuclear bomb.
if i had to put him in any other genre, i think he'd be funny in high fantasy. specifically in any kind of dnd setting. oh man. he'd be the world's most annoying warlock.
while i was typing this, you sent me this message:
Tumblr media
and i need it to be known that he would absolutely be like that chris fleming bit about how the stranger things cast are going to convince jimmy fallon to deface an orphanage.

im sorry about anons being shitty to you again :/ but i really appreciate you sharing stuff like that- the actual harm endos have caused, but without generalising it as all endos. there's a tendency for pro-endo folks to just kinda ignore all the harm endos have and still do cause, and anti-endos making it out to be all endos and always intentionally malicious. i'm really glad you're able to still be rational about it.
i really hate endo spaces because misinformation like that runs rampant and there's little to no attempts to stop it, it really seems like they're just making things up...
i'm sorry that stuff happened to you, and that you ended up in those spaces. i hope youre doing well now. i really appreciate you talking about it, even if just to highlight how endos and endo-typical misinformation can harm people.
Thank you. It’s very nice to have someone comment on all that. It really messed me up. I’m going on a vacation today - literally leaving in about 40 minutes or so - and it’ll be 4 and a half hours in a car. I have horrific car anxiety now, so much so that I regularly scream and have panic attacks while in the passenger seat because a car 5 lengths away braked.
It’s. A lot. My partner thankfully has helped me calm down a lot, but that was an incredibly traumatic experience for me.
Regardless, I’ve got friends on both sides of the debate. Not everyone is malicious, not everyone is evil - actually, I firmly believe that the majority of people on both sides are well meaning and only human. It’s a vocal minority who is the fucking awful ones, and generalizing both communities to match that vocal minority is wrong.
I’m in better spaces now. Spaces dedicated to debunking claims, or recovery in general. Shout out to Survivors Network (my second home at this point), the Debunking Server (my endo friends need some love), the Rings&Alexandrites server (I’m sorry I’m such a lurker), and especially the SiM server (y’all are really magic to me). You’ve made me feel safe to be a system online and it helps a lot.

Comet headcanons!
He was a problem child, somewhat like Fox but more obnoxious about it. None of his batchmates would be his friends. Instead of adapting, he became a frustrated, isolated adolescent.
He’s keen about the sciences, especially astronomy. He carved cosmic symbols on his training armor (and his bunk) until he perfected the one that would inspire his name. His ambition of working full-time in space was foiled when he was placed in the army track (nothing malicious here, but he took it personally).
His assignment to the 104th doesn’t start well. He’s a replacement gunner for one of Captain Dire’s walker crews—a poor fit, and the chip on his shoulder makes it worse. His beleaguered sergeant, Martin, tries everything from teambuilding to discipline, but with little effect.
Compassion saves him from a world of pain. Knowing Commander Wolffe has been screening his troops for malcontents, Martin presents Comet’s case. Wolffe sees an echo of Fox in the troubled young trooper and decides to take him under his wing.
For his remediation, he’s made an unofficial aide. At first he’s appalled, but then he realizes it’s not special treatment—Wolffe runs him ragged, involving him in everything from the humblest chores to the hairiest situations (e.g. “R2 Come Home”).
Taken aback by his commander’s intentionality, he doesn’t resist, and gradually a quiet transformation occurs. His love language is quality time; during the many exhausting, drawn-out days of working together, Wolffe becomes like a paternal older brother to him, someone well-respected and worth making proud. The desired outcome pans out: with a newfound motivation to behave, he improves on all fronts.
At the appropriate time, Wolffe returns him to the ranks, putting him in Sinker’s squad to keep tabs on him. He still has some baggage, but his integration is made more difficult by Sinker himself, who regards his wayward tendencies as dangerous for the squad. It takes a brawl to get them on the same page and start working toward cooperation (and later friendship).
On that note, his social skills (or lack thereof) are put through the wringer by his new squad. This time, he makes an effort to find his place among them, and he succeeds, even as his outspoken nature reemerges. Thanks to them, he gives hair dye a try (I stole this look from someone I spotted at work; my art doesn’t do it justice, but it’s handsome with curly hair).
He earns the rank of corporal fairly and through hard work; no one begrudges him. Wolffe and Sinker collaborate to continue drawing out his potential (e.g. letting him lead the squad in “Padawan Lost”).
He’s always the first to volunteer whenever Wolffe needs a second man with him on a mission; his devotion to the commander exceeds even his loyalty to the Republic.
He isn’t particularly close to General Plo, nor does he revere him quite like some. Instead, he possesses the frank, detached respect that most troopers exhibit toward Jedi.

I think most people think all gaslighting is malicious but it doesn't need to be. Gaslighting (especially when it's cultural) can be done unconsciously or unintentionally, or perhaps even intentionally with an awareness of impacting the other person but not realising that the impact is harmful.
For example - when you try to express an unpopular opinion but it's just dismissed or people behave like they can't understand how or why you could possibly think that, even when you try to explain. Imo ppl often react like that because they don't WANT to put in the effort to understand or deal with the discomfort of a new/unusual idea. They probably don't mean to criticise your intellectual capabilities but if it happens for long enough or often enough, it's easy to begin thinking "I must be dumb/stupid, I must have bad taste, etc."
Another example is when you're trying to get your point across but the other person disagrees with you by addressing everything else except the key point you're making. For example, with the Carlos situation, if someone says "I dislike his s4 plotline cz it doesn't fit properly with the earlier seasons", the general response (not including you in this) is "oh but it's totally possible for someone of his background to do what he did". Um yeah, but that wasn't the point? The point was that the show messed up the execution of a perfectly plausible storyline. But the execution is never addressed generally, instead the discussion is repeatedly directed to the motivations of the character. Which leads to the feeling of "am I shouting into the void? can ppl not hear me? am I stupid for thinking this when most others don't even think the problem exists? etc etc"
Sorry to go off on a rant about this in your inbox. But if always drives me up the wall when people get offended about words like "consent" and "gaslighting" being used, just because they don't realise that there's levels to those concepts.
I think that you're right, there certainly are levels. And some of the things you described could fall under the larger umbrella of the term depending on the specific circumstances. I think people get their hackles up pretty quick tho because gaslighting is a very specific term. It describes a method of emotional abuse where someone's sense of reality is repeatedly called into question in order to gain psychological power over them. It is manipulation with the intent of making them completely vulnerable to their abuser because they can't trust their own mind anymore. And The Internet™ (sweeping generalization, I know) seems to have somewhat decided it is actually a catch-all term that applies to things like any time someone said something that doesn't reflect your perspective or whenever someone disagreed with you and didn't immediately acquiesce when you demanded they change their mind. So people are, understandably, going to be pretty instantly offended if you accuse them of intentional emotional abuse when what you really mean is "you're kind of being a dick."
There is all kinds of dickish behaviour that doesn't qualify as gaslighting, like being dismissive or being unnecessarily rude or arguing with a point someone wasn't making (people do this to me all the time on here so I feel you on that one. The whole "I like mozzarella cheese" "oh so you HATE CHEDDAR???" phenomenon. It is endlessly frustrating when someone is putting words into your mouth and getting mad at you for something you didn't say. It is an unkind and lazy and bad faith way to interact with someone. But that doesn't necessarily make it gaslighting.) Things go both ways, too. People are allowed to just straight up disagree with you and not be interested in taking the time to understand your position. Like it would be nice if they were willing to hear you out and be open to a different perspective, but you aren't entitled to demand that they do so and they aren't being abusive if they don't want to, especially over something as ultimately inconsequential as a difference in fictional character interpretation. People can just say 'I don't agree' or 'I don't see it that way' and move on. Idk. I see what you're saying, I honestly do. And I can see how that would be super frustrating and lead to not a very nice fandom experience. But it's just really complicated.

Naturally, I am seeing posts from people who think that electoralism will work in this age against the anti-abortionists and that Biden/the Dems are still better than the Republicans. It is as myopic as ever.
I'ma start with how the Dems are culpable:
Ruth Bader Ginsberg was ancient when Obama took office. She had two years to step down and allow him to appoint another Justice, but did not. It's a known issue that the Presidency and the Congress change hands frequently (it's a pendulum), so this was gross irresponsibility.
While people are quick to bring up that Clinton warned us about Trump being anti-abortion (which he himself said, so it was unnecessary), her running mate was also anti-abortion.
There has been next to no effort to make abortion rights specified in law. We've relied on Roe v. Wade this entire time, but overturning rulings is something politicians always talk about doing. The above, about how Clinton "warned" us about Trump? She didn't: the Republicans have run on doing everything to remove abortion rights for longer than I have been alive. Using scare tactics demanding you vote for someone (especially someone with nearly identical policies to their opponent) because of doom-saying is not activism, especially when you have political power. Edit: What effort has been generally consists of worrying about what the Republicans will do when it is clear that Democrat control is slipping, with votes that go nowhere -- like the Women's Health Protection Act debacle, stymied by designated enemy Joe Manchin. The time for passing such legislation is when the pro-abortion party has a stronghold, not when it's preparing to cede power to the opposition. And yet, here we are, long after Obama's first two years with unequivocal Democrat control of Congress, not having any sort of substantive abortion legislation in place.
Are we going to forget Biden's role in helping to appoint conservative Justices? Saying he did so due to incompetence (as is often the case when defending him about Clarence Thomas) is not a defense: you want neither malice nor incompetence in your elected officials. And he has a long, repetitive history of taking conservative positions and helping conservative measures, including appointing Supreme Court Justices.
But the bigger issue is this electoralism crap. The Supreme Court is, as people have long pointed out, not a democratic institution -- by design. (I'm not going to go into the merits or problems with democratic and anti-democratic institutions here. It's a neutral statement.) Talking about electoralism when you have a body that is appointed for life by a presidency that is known to change hands frequently (and confirmed by a congress that does the same) and which routinely votes in ways that do not reflect popular opinion is out of touch; doing so when they have just overturned an extremely popular ruling is either demented or intentionally, maliciously ignorant.
Pro-abortion rights people are not going to win a permanent victory through electoralism.
The same is true of every other major issue facing the Left, from the ongoing, worsening border crisis no one's talking about anymore to the escalating forever war to environmental collapse. I mean, Hell, those three alone Biden has made worse and the Dems are still treating him as the supposed "best we can do".
This isn't even getting into how the country has been an oligarchy for decades now. This is just about the Dems being incapable of defending the positions their constituents want (though that itself is an illustration of our oligarchy).
No, the only solution at this point is violence.
But I've said that for a while now. Maybe this time people will heed that call.

VPN Compatibility with Spotify
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are becoming increasingly popular as individuals seek to protect their online privacy and enhance their digital security. However, when it comes to using a VPN with music streaming services like Spotify, compatibility can sometimes be a concern.
Fortunately, most reputable VPN providers are compatible with Spotify, allowing users to access and enjoy their favorite music content without any restrictions. By connecting to a VPN server, users can mask their IP address and encrypt their internet traffic, making it difficult for third parties to track their online activities. This added layer of security can be especially useful when accessing Spotify from public Wi-Fi networks or in countries where the service may be restricted.
One of the main advantages of using a VPN with Spotify is the ability to bypass geo-blocks and access region-locked content. By connecting to a server in a different country, users can unlock a whole new world of music, discovering playlists and songs that may not be available in their own region.
It is important to note that while using a VPN with Spotify is generally safe and legal, users should always adhere to Spotify's terms of service to avoid any potential account issues. Additionally, it is recommended to choose a reliable VPN provider with fast servers to ensure a seamless streaming experience.
In conclusion, VPN compatibility with Spotify opens up a world of possibilities for music enthusiasts looking to enhance their listening experience while also prioritizing their online privacy and security. By choosing the right VPN service, users can enjoy unrestricted access to their favorite tunes anytime, anywhere.
VPN Effectiveness on Spotify Streaming
Title: Maximizing Your Spotify Streaming Experience with VPNs
In the digital age, streaming platforms like Spotify have revolutionized the way we consume music, offering vast libraries of songs at our fingertips. However, geo-restrictions and content limitations can sometimes hinder the full potential of these platforms. This is where Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) come into play, offering a solution to unlock the full spectrum of Spotify's offerings regardless of your location.
One of the primary benefits of using a VPN for Spotify streaming is bypassing geographical restrictions. Certain songs or albums may be unavailable in your region due to licensing agreements or censorship laws. By connecting to a VPN server located in a country where the desired content is accessible, you can effectively circumvent these restrictions and enjoy a broader selection of music.
Moreover, VPNs can enhance the security and privacy of your streaming activities. By encrypting your internet connection, VPNs shield your data from potential eavesdroppers, including your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and malicious third parties. This ensures that your listening habits remain private and protected from prying eyes.
Additionally, VPNs can mitigate the impact of bandwidth throttling imposed by ISPs. Some internet providers may intentionally slow down your connection when streaming services are detected, leading to buffering issues and degraded audio quality. By using a VPN, you can disguise your streaming traffic, making it more difficult for ISPs to throttle your connection and thus ensuring a smoother Spotify experience.
However, it's essential to choose a reliable and reputable VPN provider to maximize the effectiveness of your Spotify streaming. Look for VPNs with robust encryption protocols, a wide range of server locations, and a no-logs policy to safeguard your privacy and ensure seamless access to Spotify's extensive music library.
In conclusion, VPNs offer a practical solution for unlocking geo-restricted content, enhancing privacy, and overcoming bandwidth limitations when streaming music on Spotify. By leveraging the capabilities of VPN technology, music enthusiasts can enjoy an uninterrupted and unrestricted listening experience wherever they are in the world.
VPN Limitations with Spotify Access
Title: Understanding VPN Limitations with Spotify Access
In an era where online privacy is paramount, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) have emerged as go-to tools for safeguarding digital identities and accessing geo-restricted content. However, when it comes to streaming services like Spotify, VPNs often encounter limitations that can hinder seamless access.
One of the primary hurdles faced by VPN users attempting to access Spotify is the platform's robust detection mechanisms. Spotify employs sophisticated methods to identify and block VPN traffic, primarily to enforce licensing agreements and regional restrictions. When a user connects to Spotify through a VPN, the service can detect the VPN's IP address, which may be flagged as suspicious or unauthorized. Consequently, Spotify may restrict or completely block access to the platform, leaving users frustrated.
Moreover, VPNs themselves may pose technical challenges that impact the streaming experience on Spotify. VPNs route internet traffic through servers located in different regions, potentially causing delays or buffering issues due to increased latency. Additionally, some VPN providers may throttle bandwidth or impose data caps, further compromising streaming quality and user experience.
Furthermore, while VPNs offer anonymity and encryption, these features can conflict with Spotify's terms of service. Spotify may interpret VPN usage as a violation of its policies, leading to account suspensions or bans.
Despite these limitations, some users continue to employ VPNs to access Spotify for various reasons, including bypassing regional restrictions and protecting their privacy. However, it's essential to acknowledge and understand the risks and challenges associated with using VPNs for streaming purposes.
In conclusion, while VPNs provide a layer of privacy and security, they are not foolproof solutions for accessing Spotify and may encounter limitations due to the platform's detection methods and technical constraints. Users should weigh the benefits against the potential drawbacks before relying on VPNs for Spotify access.
VPN Performance on Spotify Platforms
When it comes to streaming music on Spotify, VPN performance can play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless listening experience. VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks, are commonly used by users to enhance their online privacy and security. However, using a VPN on Spotify platforms can sometimes impact the overall performance.
One of the main ways VPNs can affect Spotify performance is through throttling internet speed. VPNs encrypt internet traffic, which can lead to slower connection speeds. This may result in buffering issues and longer loading times when streaming music on Spotify. Choosing a VPN provider that offers fast connection speeds and reliable servers can help mitigate these performance issues.
Additionally, some VPNs may struggle to bypass geo-blocks on Spotify. Geo-blocking is a technology used by streaming platforms to restrict access to content based on the user's location. If a VPN server is unable to effectively mask your IP address and location, you may encounter difficulties accessing certain songs or playlists on Spotify.
To improve VPN performance on Spotify platforms, users can consider selecting servers that are closer to their physical location. This can help reduce latency and improve connection speeds while streaming music. It is also important to regularly update the VPN software to ensure optimal performance and security features.
In conclusion, while VPNs are valuable tools for enhancing online privacy, users should be mindful of their impact on Spotify performance. By selecting a reputable VPN provider and optimizing server choices, users can enjoy uninterrupted music streaming on Spotify while maintaining their privacy online.
VPN and Region-Restricted Spotify Content
Internet users worldwide face region restrictions when trying to access content on various online platforms, including Spotify. Fortunately, using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can help bypass these limitations and unlock region-restricted Spotify content.
A VPN works by rerouting your internet connection through a server in a different location, masking your actual IP address and making it appear as though you are accessing the internet from the VPN server's location. This allows you to access region-restricted content on Spotify and other websites that may be blocked in your country.
To access region-restricted Spotify content using a VPN, follow these steps:
Choose a reputable VPN provider with servers in the region where the Spotify content is available.
Install the VPN app on your device and connect to a server in the desired location.
Open the Spotify app or website and enjoy unrestricted access to geo-blocked content.
It is important to note that while using a VPN to access region-restricted Spotify content is possible, it may violate Spotify's terms of service. Users should proceed with caution and understand the potential risks involved.
In conclusion, a VPN can be a useful tool for accessing region-restricted Spotify content and enjoying a more diverse music library. However, users should use VPN services responsibly and respect the copyright and licensing agreements of online platforms like Spotify.

When AI Poisons AI: The Risks of Building AI on AI-Generated Contents
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/when-ai-poisons-ai-the-risks-of-building-ai-on-ai-generated-contents/
When AI Poisons AI: The Risks of Building AI on AI-Generated Contents
As generative AI technology advances, there’s been a significant increase in AI-generated content. This content often fills the gap when data is scarce or diversifies the training material for AI models, sometimes without full recognition of its implications. While this expansion enriches the AI development landscape with varied datasets, it also introduces the risk of data contamination. The repercussions of such contamination—data poisoning, model collapse, and the creation of echo chambers—pose subtle yet significant threats to the integrity of AI systems. These threats could potentially result in critical errors, from incorrect medical diagnoses to unreliable financial advice or security vulnerabilities. This article seeks to shed light on the impact of AI-generated data on model training and explore potential strategies to mitigate these challenges.
Generative AI: Dual Edges of Innovation and Deception
The widespread availability of generative AI tools has proven to be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it has opened new avenues for creativity and problem-solving.  On the other hand, it has also led to challenges, including the misuse of AI-generated content by individuals with harmful intentions. Whether it’s creating deepfake videos that distort the truth or generating deceptive texts, these technologies have the capacity to spread false information, encourage cyberbullying, and facilitate phishing schemes.
Beyond these widely recognized dangers, AI-generated contents pose a subtle yet profound challenge to the integrity of AI systems.  Similar to how misinformation can cloud human judgment, AI-generated data can distort the ‘thought processes’ of AI, leading to flawed decisions, biases, or even unintentional information leaks. This becomes particularly critical in sectors like healthcare, finance, and autonomous driving, where the stakes are high, and errors could have serious consequences. Mention below are some of these vulnerabilities:
Data Poisoning
Data poisoning represents a significant threat to AI systems, wherein malicious actors intentionally use generative AI to corrupt the training datasets of AI models with false or misleading information. Their objective is to undermine the model’s learning process by manipulating it with deceptive or damaging content. This form of attack is distinct from other adversarial tactics as it focuses on corrupting the model during its training phase rather than manipulating its outputs during inference. The consequences of such manipulations can be severe, leading to AI systems making inaccurate decisions, demonstrating bias, or becoming more vulnerable to subsequent attacks. The impact of these attacks is especially alarming in critical fields such as healthcare, finance, and national security, where they can result in severe repercussions like incorrect medical diagnoses, flawed financial advice, or compromises in security.
Model Collapse
However, its not always the case that issues with datasets arise from malicious intent. Sometimes, developers might unknowingly introduce inaccuracies. This often happens when developers use datasets available online for training their AI models, without recognizing that the datasets include AI-generated content. Consequently, AI models trained on a blend of real and synthetic data may develop a tendency to favor the patterns found in the synthetic data. This situation, known as model collapse, can lead to undermine the performance of AI models on real-world data.
Echo Chambers and Degradation of Content Quality
In addition to model collapse, when AI models are trained on data that carries certain biases or viewpoints, they tend to produce content that reinforces these perspectives. Over time, this can narrow the diversity of information and opinions AI systems produce, limiting the potential for critical thinking and exposure to diverse viewpoints among users. This effect is commonly described as the creation of echo chambers.
Moreover, the proliferation of AI-generated content risks a decline in the overall quality of information. As AI systems are tasked with producing content at scale, there’s a tendency for the generated material to become repetitive, superficial, or lacking in depth. This can dilute the value of digital content and make it harder for users to find insightful and accurate information.
Implementing Preventative Measures
To safeguard AI models from the pitfalls of AI-generated content, a strategic approach to maintaining data integrity is essential. Some of key ingredients of such an approach are highlighted below:
Robust Data Verification: This step entails implementation of stringent processes to validate the accuracy, relevance, and quality of the data, filtering out harmful AI-generated content before it reaches AI models.
Anomaly Detection Algorithms: This involves using specialized machine learning algorithms designed to detect outliers to automatically identify and remove corrupted or biased data.
Diverse Training Data: This phrase deals with assembling training datasets from a wide array of sources to diminish the model’s susceptibility to poisoned content and improve its generalization capability.
Continuous Monitoring and Updating: This requires regularly monitoring AI models for signs of compromise and refresh the training data continually to counter new threats.

Looking Forward
As AI becomes more integrated into society, the importance of maintaining the integrity of information is increasingly becoming important. Addressing the complexities of AI-generated content, especially for AI systems, necessitates a careful approach, blending the adoption of generative AI best practices with the advancement of data integrity mechanisms, anomaly detection, and explainable AI techniques. Such measures aim to enhance the security, transparency, and accountability of AI systems. There is also a need for regulatory frameworks and ethical guidelines to ensure the responsible use of AI. Efforts like the European Union’s AI Act are notable for setting guidelines on how AI should function in a clear, accountable, and unbiased way.
The Bottom Line
As generative AI continues to evolve, its capabilities to enrich and complicate the digital landscape grow. While AI-generated content offers vast opportunities for innovation and creativity, it also presents significant challenges to the integrity and reliability of AI systems themselves. From the risks of data poisoning and model collapse to the creation of echo chambers and the degradation of content quality, the consequences of relying too heavily on AI-generated data are multifaceted. These challenges underscore the urgency of implementing robust preventative measures, such as stringent data verification, anomaly detection, and ethical AI practices. Additionally, the “black box” nature of AI necessitates a push towards greater transparency and understanding of AI processes. As we navigate the complexities of building AI on AI-generated content, a balanced approach that prioritizes data integrity, security, and ethical considerations will be crucial in shaping the future of generative AI in a responsible and beneficial manner.

Securing Your Device: Understanding the Risks of Public Charging Stations
Tumblr media
A Word of Caution on Public Charging
Public spaces have become convenient with amenities such as USB charging stations for phones, tablets, and other electronic devices. However, this convenience may come at a significant risk. The FBI has issued a warning against using these charging points due to potential exposure to harmful software.
The Hidden Danger: Juice Jacking
Convenience often blinds us to potential dangers, especially when our devices are on the brink of dying out. The anxiety of seeing your battery life dwindle can make public charging stations seem like a lifesaver. But the hidden risk is real and has a name: “juice jacking.” The term, coined in 2011, refers to the vulnerability of these stations and the potential for malicious software to be transmitted through them.
More Than Just Power: The Data Transmission Threat
The cord used to power your phone has another function: data transmission. Whenever you connect your phone to another device, like a computer, using this cord, data transfer occurs. So, while you might think you’re just charging your phone at a public station, you could unknowingly be sharing your data with others.
The Extent of the Risk
What can someone with malicious intent get from your device if the charging port is compromised? The simple and chilling answer is: a lot. This could range from personal communication such as emails and text messages to photos and even contact lists.
A Timely Reminder
Authorities constantly remind the public about the importance of cybersecurity. The FBI’s recent warning is a general reminder for everyone, especially travelers, to stay safe and vigilant about where and how they charge their devices.
The FCC’s Take
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also chimed in on the issue, noting that a corrupted charging port could allow a malicious actor to either lock a device or extract personal data and passwords.
A Deeper Dive into the Tactics
Malicious tactics can be even more sinister. There have been instances where criminals intentionally leave infected cables plugged into charging stations. Alarmingly, there have also been cases of such compromised cables being distributed as promotional gifts.
Safeguarding Your Device
So, how do we protect ourselves from such threats?
Carry your own charger and cord: Wherever you go, carry your charging equipment with you. The best practice is to use an electrical outlet instead of a public USB station1.
Stay informed: Keep yourself updated on the latest in cybersecurity threats and how to protect yourself.
Be mindful: Always think twice before plugging your device into a public charging station. If you’re running low on battery, consider if it’s worth the risk.

Leo woman and pisces man
Pisces men with Leo women often begin a relationship built on intrigue. It is not uncommon for the Pisces man to be absolutely sucked in by the charm and grace of his Leo woman or she may be attracted to his compassion and the peaceful anchor her Pisces man becomes. Regardless of how this blissful pairing begins, there are real challenges ahead for them both in the long term. There is a great risk but greater reward for those couples who can survive the first few tempests and firestorms, so it is not worth abandoning at first glance. While Pisces and Leo are certainly not two peas in a pod, a very real opportunity still exists for them to have the ideal loving relationship they have always dreamed of. Developing a full understanding of conflicting traits and innate needs can help them find compatibility and better prepare them for troubles before they arrive.
Leo woman and pisces man
Basic Compatibility
At her core, a Leo woman embodies grace and generosity while enjoying being the center of attention in every meaning of the phrase. The compassionate nature of Pisces men is evident in his prominent friendliness and desire to help all who are in need. Of course, these specific traits mesh very well together – after all, who would ever expect issues with two signs which are so naturally giving? Looking further into the innate characteristics is where the true problems lie. For starters, Pisces are selfless people-pleasers who practically live to make others smile and be happy. Leos by nature are much more self-centered and loved to be adored, worshiped and always found faultless. Without a strong partner sign to draw the line or call her on her faults, the Leo woman is in danger of becoming insufferably egotistical. Her Pisces man will often abide by her needs and desires without question, letting the problem grow and rationalizing his feel-good actions as little white lies to spare bad feelings. Eventually, when he can take no more, all will fall apart.
The passiveness of Pisces men is both a blessing and a curse. It does offer some balance in a relationship with a sign that refuses to take second place, but it is prone to allowing problems to fester. On the positive side, both Leo women and Pisces men are built for romance and sex, with intimacy likely being the strongest point of their relationship. With Leo’s creativity and the artistic nature of Pisces, hobbies and general interests may overlap increasing the overall enjoyment for both. Pisces men are very emotional creatures, and while Leo women are not particularly malicious, it is easy to unintentionally trample his emotions as she chases her own dreams and desires. Leos, in general, are almost never intentionally cruel, but arrogance and self-serving behavior can cut just as deep, especially for an easily hurt Pisces man.

Love And Relationships
The fish and the lioness are passionate, compassionate, and loyal – leading to powerful bonds that are hard to break until one side truly gets fed up. While it may seem like an endearing quality, it assuredly means breakups will be nasty as neither is inclined to end it before rock bottom anger or pain. In friendship, getting a Pisces man to feel secure enough to spill his heart to you is no easy feat. He is well aware of his emotional sensitivities and does his very best not to be hurt and discarded as he likely has been many times before. He is naturally a loner, and this effect will become clear in both platonic and intimate relationships. Leo women are much more social and outgoing, extensively depending on friends, lovers, and even strangers to provide the attention and ego boost that is the lifeblood of any Leo. Fortunately, these social differences don’t have a substantial negative impact on the relationship unless she went into it assuming she’d consistently have an adventuring partner at her side.
Those in an intimate relationship with a Leo woman must meet her high expectations for focus on her. When rebuffed by anyone, she may fall back to her mate for reassurance that she is still the queen she knows she is. She doesn’t want him to fight her battles or be confrontational; she just wants comfort knowing she is still queen to someone. Pisces men are ideal for providing this soothing comfort, rebuilding any broken parts of her spirit, and sending her back out onto the world’s stage she adores so much. However passive he may be, he will always have her side, a value which endears him to her.
As far as sexual intimacy goes, Leo women and Pisces men really are the best of both worlds. Pisces are kings at romance, taking great pride in mastering what makes their lover smile and fall in love again and again. Leos are innately very sexual creatures. In fact, bad sex is often a deal breaker for any long term relationship with a Leo woman. With passionate, lusty sex coming from her side and romantic, sensual loving from his, sex is always an enjoyable adventure. A difference in styles means neither will get bored, as the lioness will take charge to achieve her desires. In the bedroom, there is no downside to this pairing and may well be the strongest advantage they have outside of genuinely being kind people.
Working Together
It’s smooth sailing for this pair, working together or apart. As mentioned previously, if one were to describe a Leo woman as a leader, it would be gracious and kind. When in charge, she will not intentionally use her position or power to abuse for her own gain. Even as a bit of an attention or glory seeker, she still holds true to her values. She will function well alone and in a group but is more liable to slip into laziness in the latter. Pisces is extremely helpful and excels in a team environment, but his selfless nature invites him to be easily manipulated into doing work for the lazy. In power, he is as kind, helpful, and just as his Leo woman is, but lacks any drive to draw attention to himself. His wisdom and intuitiveness may propel his rise to leadership even if he is entirely uncomfortable with leading at all.
A relationship between Leo women and Pisces men may be a bit rough and tumble, but with hard work and each respecting their partner’s traits, it can be successful. The majority of their positive values truly align, and the adventurous drive of the lioness keeps the pairing brimming with excitement. Pisces men are true slaves to their emotions, causing the highs to be far sweeter and the lows more bitter. Luckily, the stability of a Leo woman can keep him safely out of those negative extremes, and he will consistently acknowledge her efforts which is important to her. There will be ups and downs, but communication and honesty can make this relationship both unforgettable and unbreakable.
