The Enneagram Types at a Pool Party
Type One: Probably laying out with big sunglasses on talking about how they could have decorated the pool better than the host did.
Type Two: Definitely made snack trays and brought them, giving everyone juice boxes, etc. They are also taking a LOT of pictures and talking their friends’ ears off. Type Three: Almost definitely the host of the pool party. Spends a lot of the time laying out; talks a lot about how much they spent on the pool, how beautiful it is, etc.
Type Four: Pretending they are in a movie while they lay out and stare off into the distance, occasionally dipping their feet into the pool. Type Five: Either stayed inside or, if they do decide to come outside, they are sitting in the shade on their computer or reading a book. Type Six: Making sure everyone has sunscreen on. Definitely had a checklist and is freaking out if they forgot to bring something.
Type Seven: Jumping off the diving board, going down the slide, doing flips, literally just acting like little pool heathens the entire time they are there. Little wild people. Type Eight: They might be laying out and are the person to yell at you if you tip their float. Has shoved at least three people into the pool. 50/50 chance they jump into the pool like the seven has been. Type Nine: Probably was laying out in a chair and fell asleep, they are absolutely getting sunburnt as shit and they know it, they don’t care they are just tired.

IPKKND Enneagram: Arnav Singh Raizada
Enneagram Type: 8 (The Challenger)
Tumblr media
The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational
Arnav is strongly influenced by his basic type, with minimal wing influences from 7 and 9. Hence, I classify him as a pure Type 8, also called The Challenger or The Protector.
All gifs in this post are NOT by me, they're made by the these amazing people - @loveubarunsobti @phati-sari @jalebi-weds-bluetooth @arziaisfrench (also individually credited below each gif)
(if any of the folks above wish to have their gifs taken off this post, pls let me know, I'll do that!)
Here are some fun facts about type 8s. Tell me if it sounds familiar.
Basic Fear: Being controlled or harmed by others
Basic Desire: To protect themselves (to be in control of their own destiny)
At their best: Self- mastering, they use their strength to improve others' lives, becoming heroic, magnanimous, and inspiring. Caring, generous, and highly competent.
At their worst: Vengeful, ruthless, dictatorial, destructive, emotionally shut off. Use any means, including blackmail or violence, to get obedience from those around them, and recklessly over extend themselves in pursuit of their goals.
(Sidenote: I didn't paraphrase any of this...its taken verbatim from various sites...did the IPK makers refer to Enneagram type 8 when writing Arnav??? lol)
Understanding Arnav's Core Personality as an 8
Tumblr media
As their name suggests, 8s love challenges. This is where they shine, this is what they enjoy. Arnav completely embodies this - he thrives when he is fighting to prove himself, loves setting challenges for others, and admires those who manage to compete at his level. I mean, this is basically the entirety of Arshi's courtship lmao.
Another one of Arnav's most 8-esque qualities is that he is a tremendously charismatic leader with a natural tendency towards taking charge and the innate ability to inspire people to follow him. 8s act quickly and decisively in stressful situations, seeking out logical, practical solutions, and taking charge of dealing with troubles. Hence, they often become the rock to cling on to in tough times. They are willing to take the heat for unpopular decisions that they judge to be right. Full of natural confidence, resourceful thinking and common sense, they strive to use their abilities to take care of everyone dependent on them. If they are the head of a family, fairly looking after everyone's needs is important to them. All of this is why he is the Raizada HBIC when he has like 5 elders in line before him. It's not just about the fact that he is AR Designs CEO/billionaire. The Raizadas implicitly trust him to take the right decisions for them because he has proved to be a worthy leader in crisis periods.
At the same time, a source of great annoyance for his family is another of his classic type 8 qualities - 8s do not fear public opinions and can easily defy disapproval if necessary. They will refuse to give in to social conventions that do not suit them, with zero shame or fear of consequences, which can seem inspiring, intimidating, or even infuriating, depending on where you stand lol.
Also like a typical 8, he is extremely ambitious and has impressive willpower which drives him to set, and usually achieve, big goals for himself. Be it his professional ambitions (successful) or his idiotic commitment to fighting his feelings for Khushi (vv unsuccesful; try again next time).
Arnav's shares both of the core fears of an 8. First, he fears being harmed by others. This doesn't imply Arnav is a coward who runs from a physical fight...the opposite. In fact, 8s have tremendous physical endurance, to the point where they are often harmfully negligent of their own health. Arnav has shown this trait repeatedly - the hot tea incident, the multiple times he fainted due to neglect etc etc. So Arnav's fear of harm is not about physical blows but more to do with emotional harm, specifically betrayal or abandonment. 8s absolutely hate the idea of being emotionally dependent on any one and often construct strong emotional armours to push people away and hide their paradoxical inner emotional vulnerability. Ummm...yeah. The turning his head away to hide his face any time a conversation with Anjali (or later Khushi) enters remotely emotional territory. How he makes it a point of pride that Arnav Singh Raizada NEVER says "sorry" or "happy birthday". And of course, the MANY times the extent of his passion towards Khushi freaks him out and he responds by pushing her away by any means possible.
Their second fear is that 8s are terrified of giving any one any power over them - be it social, psychological, sexual or physical. No matter what their sphere of life, retaining and increasing their power is extremely important to them. And Arnav is absolutely obsessed with power and control especially in the romantic/sexual/emotional realm. The most obvious example of this, of course, is how he seeks out romantic relationships that allow him to be minimally emotionally engaged, and where he has much of the control. After the first break up with Lavanya, his indifferent reaction may seem cold and almost cruel to us (and Khushi lol) but from his perspective, that's exactly his ideal relationship - where he remains totally unaffected by being dumped and his heart isn't involved at all. And then OF COURSE his entire relationship with Khushi is defined by this fear. So many of his actions in the show are motivated by a deep fear of the sheer intensity of what Khushi, the girl he is supposed to look down on/ignore/hate, makes him feel.
Tumblr media
He is triggered as all hell whenever Khushi proves her totally unconscious power over him (physical or emotional). Such as Diwali when the feelings he has for her almost made him cheat, an action that is abhorrent to him and he is staggered, HORRIFIED by this fact. How does he react? By doing his DAMNDEST to re-exert a measure of control over the situation. The tremendous anger he feels there comes from a place of absolute fear at his loss of control because of the Khushi feelings. Her questions about the poolside moment and the payal highlight to him just how much power she has over him and how close she is to discovering it. And he launches his campaign of trying to "win" over those feelings, trying to erase them and revert to a position of absolute indifference to her and control over himself and his surroundings. Trying to double down on his commitment to the "safe" relationship with Lavanya, one that doesn't threaten his emotional safety one bit, that keeps his heart safe and sound locked away in a dungeon somewhere. Its an absolutely classic type 8 move to pursue a course of action that is not only harmful to others, but also to your own self and in opposition to your other priorities, just so you can prove a point to yourself about control control control. He does NOT believe in marriage or want to be married, certainly not to Lavanya; he doesn't want to be rude to and hurt Khushi and doing so hurts him also; he feels pain when she thinks badly of him or cries due to him - YET - he commits to this very course. He chooses to prioritize his ego, his need for control, over all other considerations, including his own happiness and peace of mind. While on this trip, the utmost need in his mind is to prove that those feelings for Khushi DO NOT control him, even if that means he keeps making choices that are deeply emotionally painful for him and everyone around him.
And if he can't erase or control the feelings, well, at the very least, NO ONE, least of all Khushi, the dangerous wielder of that scary power, should know any thing about them. That's why he does everything to push her away, down to hurling at her that IT DIDN'T MEAN ANYTHING. The gentleman doth protest too much.
This reading can be applied to so many of Arnav's actions, especially some of the cruellest ways he lashes out at Khushi when she has done nothing (at that moment) to really earn it. Like during the contract marriage, he is tortured by the fact that no matter how hard he tries, how much he intellectually loathes her, emotionally, he still feels concern for her. She betrayed him! The worst happened - his worst fear came true - he gave someone power over him and they used it to hurt him emotionally - and he can't even escape the cycle of pain, he has to live in it, every day he has to content with the fact that he harbours intense feelings that keep growing against his will for this traitorous person. It is a nightmare situation for an 8.
The more she starts affecting his mental, emotional and physical reactions in ways that shock him, the more triggered he gets and the more he either pushes her away or pulls her into toxic power games. This is his classic pattern from early on in their whatever-ship, from the increasingly unhinged office challenges post the red sari scene, to the farak padta hai games, to forcing her to marry him, to the entirety of the contract marriage.
It's also because of these core fears that 8s dislike any type of manipulative or lying behaviour. They do not appreciate being made a fool of or being emotionally blackmailed and will immediately be extremely suspicious of any outsider who attempts such things with them. The reason is that they ARE very vulnerable to emotional manipulation from loved ones - so they want to ensure they don't let people in who would take advantage of this weakness.
Arnav as a Stressed/Unhealthy 8
After the first Lavanya break up, Khushi hits a little too close to the truth when she asks Arnav "did you ever even love her at all? are you that heartless?" and Arnav's responds (in essence) "yes, I am heartless, and everything that has happened proved me right. love is a stupid illision and causes nothing but pain, we're better off without it". This is a CLASSIC unhealthy 8 that is totally blocked in his ability to love. Because love requires vulnerability and giving the other person power over you, which contradicts their basic drive for emotional autonomy. An unhealthy 8 is dominated by their core fears and that stops them from experiencing or expressing love in a healthy way.
Tumblr media
An 8's hard working and ambitious nature, combined with their emotionally distant tendencies makes them prone to being workaholics and emotionally negligent. This can lead to dissatisfaction and complaints of neglect amongst loved ones. We saw Anjali complain about this multiple times, but it really hits home with Khushi post the kidnapping. After calling her the biggest mistake of his life, all he had to do was say sorry, I love you, I want to stay married to you forever, and Khushi would have forgiven and forgotten everything in an instant. His silence on the matter combined with his emotionally distant/volatile actions fans her insecurities to the point that she first attempts to, and then leaves. This breach is eventually healed only when they are able to have an honest, emotionally vulnerable communication about the nature of his feelings for her and their marriage (this is what the pearl necklace scene is supposed to be - there wasn't much verbal conversation but you know what I mean lol).
The funny thing is, underneath all that emotional coldness, 8s have a potent fear of rejection and abandonment. Subsequently, they are sensitive to any such indicators of dissatisfaction in loved ones. They hate to feel that a loved one is dissatisfied with them or misunderstanding them. This kicks in their fear that they have lost control of the situation - they may be about to be rejected and can do nothing about it. When in an unhealthy space, where they are still ruled by their core fears, they often react by resorting to bullying behaviours to assert their dominance and control over the situation. Even once Arnav, to a degree, accepts his feelings for Khushi, he still choses to woo her through "challenges" (the 24 hour track), blackmail (Buaji's house rent) and threats (I'll pick you up and take you with me if needed Khushi!). It's still extremely difficult for him to be emotionally vulnerable and communicative and leave himself open to being rejected. He prefers power games and challenges. He wants all the cards to always be in his hands.
Stressed 8s often become secretive, fearful, and guarded in their behaviours. The most terrifying thing an 8 can imagine is not merely to be cheated in love - it's to be cheated in love and then have that loved one mockingly laugh at their "victory" over them. I think Arnav does fear confronting Khushi about Shyam because, among other reasons, he can't face it if she also does a turn face like Shyam and starts a villain monologue laughing at him. He definitely knows they had some kind of flirtationship during the Payash wedding and he now believes that was her manipulating him in order to distract him - and it would be torturous to hear this confirmed from her mouth.
It's not just in the love/romance arena that Arnav's unhealthy 8 traits manifest. The Arnav we see in the beginning might be tremendously successful but he isn't exactly a mature, evolved professional. His extreme egoistic behaviour is proof of this. 8s often build up their ego as a defence against the world, becoming extremely sensitive to "slights" to their authority or self-respect. Combative and intimidating to anyone they perceive as a threat, they can become increasingly hard-hearted and cruel in a quest to retain power and "win" against threats. This is ASR at his worst.
Arnav's Journey to a Healthy 8
Khushi's love for him AND his love for her, plays a huge role in Arnav's journey to healing. 8s feel most content and secure when a loved one knows them, and accepts them unconditionally, as they are, no qualification or complaints; they are happiest with a partner, and a family, that has an instinctive understanding of their actions, their feelings, their motivations, without them having to say any of it out loud.
Tumblr media
This is why Khushi's words "I know (that you love me) (you don't have to say it)" - both after he apologizes and before they consummate their relationship - hold so much meaning, and affect him so deeply. This is the assurance that he craves, someone who innately just gets him.
Tumblr media
Arnav's decision making process on his second wedding day truly embody the moves of a healing 8. Healthy 8s who have overcome their deepest fears, can recognize their paranoia for what it is. They move towards devaluing the importance of "power" and "control" especially in their personal life and make a conscious choice to prioritize real needs (their own and others) over their ego or their fears. Arnav choses love over hatred, hope over fear, and that's an 8 stepping into their best self.
Evolved 8s are open-hearted and caring; they channel the best of their abilities to become passionate yet generous, resourceful yet empathetic, and authoritative yet honourable; a true leader worth following.
Wings - 7 or 9?
Like I said earlier, I classify Arnav as a purer type 8 with minimal influence of his wings. However, between the two, I would say he has a greater influence of his "9" wing than "7" wing.
The 7 wing adds a taste for experiencing life to the fullest and a gregarious, extroverted, risk-taking side to an 8s personality. I considered 8w7 for Arnav because I do think he has a taste for the finer things in life, he has a powerful charismatic aura, and is comfortable with taking risks; but ultimately I discounted it because I don't think any one in their right mind could call him "extroverted" or "gregarious" in the slightest. I also don't think he is experience-oriented like a 8w7 would be, his ambitions are more concerned with his own business, his family, and his power, not with "living life to the fullest".
The 9 wing too does not appear to be a great fit at first glance - 9s are pretty much the opposite of 8s, being peaceful, conflict-avoidant and complacent. These aren't words I associate with ASR lol. Yet, this is what I chose ultimately. The 9 wing supposedly adds a soothing, family-oriented effect to the dominating and wilful 8 personality. Arnav is definitely very family-oriented. Additionally unhealthy 8w9s often exhibit an almost scary duality - a calm, gentle nature with loved ones and then an aggressive mode when faced with threats, at work, etc. ASR/Chotte/Arnavji. Rakshas/Rajkumar. And remember Khushi's comically shocked face when she saw ASR-at-home avatar for the first time?
Early days office Arnav reminds me a lot of 8w9s. 8w9s often combine indifference with aggression, often employing cold, depersonalized violence to exert control over others. Behind their calm and seemingly emotionless demeanour hides an explosive and unpredictable temper. Check and check.
Tumblr media
Consider the name of the 8w9: The Bear. Aggressive and scary to outsiders, cuddly with their loved ones. Firm and decisive, but also measured and cooperative. Isn't that Arnav? Especially the Arnav we are left with at the end of the show? I believe Arnav started out a strong 8 with a slight 9 wing influence, but as he matured over time, his natural tendency for the 9 wing also developed in a healthy manner, and he became calmer, more accommodating, more openly loving.

The Community vs ESTJ
intuitive bias, stereotypes and bad understanding of Si
Note before starting: Please dont take any of the things im going to be saying from this point onward personal (especially if you have used these arguments before.
Introduction
-Hello there guys this is another rant post I dont do this usually but I have to get this off my chest because it's been irking me allot for a while and its been bugging me more recently. But the general dislike for ESTJs in the community has been something thats always been prevalent and doesnt seem to be stopping any time soon. Obviously a good chunk of it comes from intuitive bias however another big section of it comes from misinformation and stereotypes. So I'll try to address most of these and see if there is some truth to them.
Note: Most of these stereotypes are usually applied to ESTJ not any other Si user outside of them.
one of the first things you'll hear people talk about when referring to Si (Mostly with ESTJs for some reason) is that its a function that tends to make other judgy and closed minded in worst cases ive seen people link straight up bigotry to it and its just wow...So lets brig Carl Jungs definition of Si
“We could say that introverted sensation transmits an image which does not so much reproduce the object as spread over it the patina of age-old subjective experience and the shimmer of events still unborn. The bare sense impression develops in-depth, reaching into the past and future, while extraverted sensation seizes on the momentary existence of things open to the light of day.”
There is no mention of conformity, bigotry and tradition in any of his work on introverted sensing. So No Si isnt traditions in any form. IF anything I would say traditions fit somewhere on Fi due to emotional attachment best example of this would be Blair Waldorf’s obsession spending Holidays together it's all about that emotional attachment. Ive often notice the confltaion of these two functions and often ends up in weird results like people saying that X character must be an Si user do to Trauma...yeah ummm No thats not what Si is at all. People have end up reducing Si into the “memory function” and it has ended up creating a big discrepancy in typing. Characters who don't have an eye for detail or interested in meticulous process get typed as Si users solely based on that they used past obtained information or knowledge...Like do these people not know that EVERY TYPE USES PAST OBTAINED INFORMATION ITS A THING EVERY HUMAN DOES.
And not only its that its based on pure misinformation and just bad understanding of MBTI and just plain human functioning but these people will throw the “you're intuitive bias” to you if you disagree with their typing while saying things like “ Si because they don't want to change” or ‘they are immature/stuck up or shallow” ,“they are too close minded to be an intuitive” and the list goes on. This is why some peoples typing is literally all mean girls in media typed as ESTJ and it's all because of arguments like this. Im sorry but intuitive bias isn't typing X as an intuitive but typing a character because they superior in some way to a sensor based on stereotype; and you are doing just that by using these arguments.
Conclusion
Just stop using the same stereotypes over and over again cuz when people notice a patter on your typology it gets weird and trying to prove you aren't trope typing is gonna be hard. Si is arguably one of the easiest functions to understand to put it simply si that it's a subjective function that takes in sensory aspects and creates a meticulous (detailed) step by step process for problem solving.
Final Note: Next Series is Steven Universe and I might be doing another rant post about the infantilization of ESFP.

Coriolanus Snow is enneagram 3 sp/so, I said it.
I might have forgotten some details in TBOSAS but I found out some people typed him as Enneagram 8?
He didn't step into a situation and immediately take charge or intimidate people like Enneagram 8 usually do, he didn't command the room either. He cared a lot about his image and the Snow name, concerned about showing the right image of the Snow family and doing his part as a Snow. He was also quite detached from his human traits like empathy in his pursuit of success and security, always thinking about what he could gain from a particular decision he made — that currency or 'quid pro quo' mindset is very Enneagram 3. He was focused on climbing the ranks. He got closer to people with power, authority and influences; like the insane doctor despite knowing the woman was dangerous, and Sejanus' parents, and his 'friends'. This is why he liked Lucy Gray at first, because she attracted the attention of the audience, i.e. influence. He smiled and pretended while working his way to the top. He's so enneagram 3, the worst kind, of course.
I haven't thought about his MBTI but I found out people also typed him as INTJ. I mean.... if that's true, INTJ enneagram 8 would not budge like he did, they would not play the game. INTJs are stubborn about doing things their way, INTJs are not always aware of social dynamic like Coryo did, plus they lack loyalty to traditions or the established rules of the social game. INTJ enneagram 3 however? They would adapt and play the game, while disagreeing with it at the same time and changing it slowly to fit their needs as they go. Which Coryo did. Well, he might not disagree with the Hunger Games but he didn't exactly agree with everything that was going on (at first) either, he just didn't fight against it like Sejanus did. He insulted people in his monologue but he still played the game, he made changes in the Hunger Games too.

I firmly believe that things like enneagram, MBTI,astrology etc. are tools that are meant for self development, they are something that can induce greater empathy, more tolerance in you, give you a broader perspective. These tools are not meant for enforcing stereotypes like portraying certain types as immoral psychopaths, hard hearted robots and then certain types as angels or Messiah; People aren't really two dimensional like that. Just because you struggle with rational thinking or social skills as an effect of belonging to a certain type doesn't mean you have to stay that way till you die. Putting people in a box won't get us anywhere, it limits our potential, makes us close minded. Instead, these tools are are supposed to make you open minded by showing you that there is no only one true, right way of looking at or doing things, that each type plays an integral & equally important role in our society, its supposed to tell you your weakness & strengths so your can better yourself and become a more well rounded person

i did a lil research for ur blorbo kitty bc i love him
TOMIKO'S MBTI :3
i personally think that Tomiko is an ISFJ with about 60% judging and 40% perceiving
some of the reasons why i think Tomiko is an ISFJ:
- a common stress trigger for an ISFJ is repeated and harsh criticism, which honestly made me think of Tomiko and his mom
- ISFJs are often driven by personal connections and a desire to please and while they don't seek recognition, they thrive on it. Without it, they may feel underappreciated and a little worthless (kinda reminds of Tomiko and his mom again )
- ISFJs often put other's needs before their own, and they would go out of their way to make others feel loved and supported. (kinda reminds me of Tomiko and Leo💖)
- also bc Leo is an ESTP and ESTP x ISFJ is one of my favourite parings, and ESTPs and ISFJs are basically soulmates according to what i have read :)
Tomiko is not really a stereotypical ISFJ so ye. also i think Tomiko may be a type 2 with wing 3 for his enneagram but i dun know much about ennagram soooo ye
sryy for bothering you with a long ask oops :')
I'm mostly just really impressed with how you formatted this lol
and, yea! that sounds a lot like him!! I'm glad I communicated my little cat idiot well enough that he can be understood so well haha. author intent and reader comprehension win babeyyyyyy!!!!

Enneagram Type 3
An overview of an enneagram type. Not an expert. May change later.
___
Center: Heart/Image/Shame
Other triads: Competent, Assertive, Attachment
Basic motivation: To be successful, be admirable
Basic fear: Being a worthless failure
Wings: 3w2, 3w4
Disintegration/Stress: 9
Integration/Growth: 6
___
Traits
- Strengths -
Hard working
Ambitious, doesn't give up easily
Supportive and encouraging
Adaptable
Confident
- Weaknesses -
Deceptive, very image conscious
Needs to be impressive all the time
Can be arrogant
Narcissistic
Detached from their feelings; does not understand their own heart
___
Wings
- 3w2 -
With 2's need to be loved, a 3w2 is often very charming and likeable. They can shift their image and personality to suit the preferences of others. Is good at making others feel seen and valued.
- 3w4 -
The 4 wing makes the 3 core more introverted, usually. A 3w4 is more focused on work and success, always working towards their goals. They have a push and pull of wanting to put a perfect front while valuing authenticity.
___
Disintegration: 9
Disintegration to 9 causes a 3 to slow down and become passive. Their ambitious nature is dead and they often give up on doing anything. Even if they are still keeping busy, these tasks will not spark any life into them. They will not bother to accomplish much, only needing to numb themselves with distractions.
Integration: 6
Integrating to 6 shifts a 3's competitive mindset to a more cooperative one. Becomes more considerate and more of a team-player. They learn to become more comfortable with who they are instead of wearing a mask all the time. They learn to be vulnerable.
___
Subtypes of 3
- Sp 3 -
The least stereotypical 3 subtype. This subtype tries to avoid their vanity. Usually the most workaholic subtype, tries very hard to reach success and build the life they want. They want to be genuine in what they do and how they present themselves, not just do and have things just for the sake of it (e.g wanting a nice car bc it shows they worked for it, not to show they're rich and cool).
- Sx 3 -
More focused on their relationships (family, friends, and partners usually). They want to help others be successful, are very supportive; basically like to be people's personal cheerleaders. If their close ones are successful then they too consider themselves successful. Having this sort of power can allow them to have some control over others. They want to seem perfect and valuable to close ones, so they will shape themselves to fit their expectations and preferences.
- So 3 -
Probably the most typical 3. Often an outgoing and charming type that can network with anyone. They care about social hierarchy and power, they want to be influential. They enjoy the spotlight and work hard to cultivate an admirable, successful image to impress others.

In a recent ask you said "Being artistic and sensitive is not 4". Can you please similarly say what's something people constantly get mixed up about each dominant function? Like I constantly see Fi doms described as artistic and sensitive, but is it really an IxFP thing or just a general human trait? Also: I wish you the best on your new ventures and thank you for all the work you've done for the typology community, you'll be missed 💐
Hmm.
Fe-dom: [stereotype] "unselfish." While EFJs usually care about their larger impact and reputation, they are not nicer to people or less selfish than any other type -- they can be selfish and want their way. It varies between EFJs. You will meet a lovely one who is so sweet and words things so carefully to avoid hurting your feelings and lets you "be," and then meet an EFJ who pushes their values off on you, and thinks that they can say whatever they want and it's all "okay" even if it's hurtful to you.
Fi-dom: [stereotype] "selfish." Yes, Fi-dom is self-centered, as in, their sense of everything is centered in their inner lens, but this does not make all of them exhibit what society calls "selfish behavior." The stereotypes about IFPs not being considerate of others are erroneous and cause many IFPs to mistype; IFPs can spend a lot of time and effort being a "safe space" for other people, and trying not to hurt their feelings (because they wouldn't want their own feelings hurt). As with the above, you may meet an IFP who is highly considerate of you and your feelings, or you may meet one who says what they think, without concern for whether it will offend you or not.
Te-dom: [stereotype] "workaholic." Yes, ETJs love to get things done, they are highly organized and motivated individuals, but the workaholic trope comes from very specific Enneagram combinations rather than is standard for all ETJs. Many of them know when to go out with friends, go home, etc. Another stereotype is not caring about people -- they care a lot, it's just that their brand of helping their loved ones tends to center around how to find solutions, as opposed to just crying with someone. As with the above examples, you will find an ETJ who cares a lot about their employees and does not want to fire anyone, and finds workarounds to keep them on staff even though it is costing their bottom line, or you will find one who only cares about the bottom line.
Ti-dom: [stereotype] "obnoxious, argumentative, hair-splitting." Not every Ti-dom is "Sherlock." Many of them just want to do their own thing, and for things to make sense. And not all of them are inventors or mechanics, either. Some of them are artists, actors, or writers. They can and do understand how things 'work' and want to make sense of them in their own mind, but not all of them are gifted in innovation or technology or in building an airplane from scratch. Some of them will be obnoxious and hammer people for their bad logic, but others don't see the point in trying to change your mind.
Se-dom: [stereotype] "party animal, shopaholic, unfaithful." Yes, they are energetic and outgoing and can do a lot in a day, but not all of them enjoy excess socializing, care about their wardrobe, or can't keep a relationship going due to a roving eye. Se is about hands-on learning and opportunism, seeing a good thing and going after it, rather than a certain set of expected behaviors. Some ESPs will work at things (including relationships) and others will "skip out."
Si-dom: [stereotype] "remembers everything." No, they only recall what is of specific interest to them, such as their favorite author's books or hairstyles from the 1950s. They don't have better memories than anyone else for generic facts and daily remembrances. Another stereotype is having no interest in trying new things -- wrong, some of them hate new things and some of them want as many experiences as possible to build their collection of memories or internal experiences.
Ne-dom: [stereotype] "can theorize about anything on the spot." Yes, if it interests them, but if it doesn't, they won't generate any ideas related to it. They are not automatic idea-machines, they need something to bounce off of and inspire their creativity. If they deprive themselves of those things (books, movies, music, etc), then their creativity can get stifled. They also don't have a thousand ideas in their mind all the time; rather, once they start working on and thinking about something, ideas "occur to them" along the way. Some ENPs have way more of a busy mind than others (7s).
Ni-dom: [stereotype] "mastermind." Not all Ni-doms have a life plan or know what they want ten years down the road, but all of them have a future focus, tend to get strong impressions and/or instincts about where life (theirs or yours) is headed, and they trust their insights. But they are not all evil masterminds who plan things down to the smallest detail; their mind is more impressionistic than that. And yet, there will be occasional "genius" INJs who do just that.

Mistyping on MBTI
Introduction
The purpose of this post is to understand what are mistyping and how they happen. I’ll explain some of the patterns ive noticed when it comes to some of the mistypings as well as some of examples ive I personally disagree with. Please dont take any of this as a personal insult if any of these examples I give are things you've done in the past or the typings I disagree with are your own.
Case #1Misunderstanding Functions
-What I refer to by the misunderstanding of functions I mean it's the general purpose of the function and how does this function work and perceive reality. I understand that functions can be complicated and Carl Jung’s definition of Ni can be convoluted and confusing (sometimes just plain vague) however I do think that typing people/characters  needs at least allot of backing up with your knowledge of functions. Usually the misunderstanding I see with each functions comes out in these ways.
Si- Memories/Any form of previously obtained knowledge
Se-Impulsiveness and Aggression
Fi-Sensitivy and Emotionality
Fe-Caring
Ti- Thinking in any capacity
Te-Rudeness
Ne- Quirks and Quips
Ni- just knowing stuff
Tumblr media
Ex-Sasuke Uchiha (ISFP)- Sasuke is often typed as an INTJ due to his preference for Ni-Fi HOWEVER when it comes to how he perceives reality and his way to deal with conflict its pretty clear he is an Fi dom. There is this misconception of Fi=Sensitivity and Emotionality. However this couldn't  be farther from the truth. Fi is simply preferring your Core Values and desire over the other. His goal was always Fi related NOT Ni related.
Case#3 Simplification of Functions
Following the last case this is usually the more common one I see when it comes to mistyping usually people will flatten functions or just straight up default to god awful stereotypes of each type when it comes to typing them. You'll often see people “Trope Type” certain charcaters. Most of their arguments revolve around the aesthetic of the character and then their functions. Which is why those peoples typing will usually look like this.
ESXJ-Mean Girl and stuck up
ISXJ-Boring ones
ESXP-Immature,Dumb or straight up substance abuse
ISXP-Edgy
XNTP-Quips and Quirks but always the smartest
XNFJ-Kind Humanitarian
XNFP-Sentimental mess
XNTJ-Villain
Tumblr media
Ex-Naruto Uzumaki (EXFP)I know I previously typed him as an ENFP however I've been thinking of the relation of his Se-Ni throughout the show and I might change my typing. However thus far every single Se dom argument I read for Naruto reads like this “ Well he is immature” “he is impulsive and reckless” “ can't be an Ne dom because Intuitive=smart and Sensor=Dumb” sometimes they don't say this word for word but their arguments boil down to this. And I find it quite frustrating cuz those same people look at you straight in the eye and say that you're intuitive bias, even tho they are the ones defaulting to stereotypes.
Case #4 Positioning of Functions
Character development in MBTI is more complex than character development in Enneagram. Depending on the movie/tv show the character might either develop their inferior function or their tert function. Which is why understanding the position and model you are using for MBTI and be consistent using it. The position of function is important because they are what defined the person and how they approach data management. Also certain characters might have preference for their tert function rather than their aux functions. Some Characters just use their stack in a very balanced way.
Tumblr media
Ex- Sokka (ESTJ)- He is often typed as an ENTP due to his exaggerated use of Ne in the later seasons. To me at least he is an ESTJ with a preference for TeNe. Sokka never really uses NeTi in the first book. His priority came in form of TeSi (Organizing the environment with a solid metric and detailed positioning of others). His development came in the form of his Ne not Fi. To the point he ends of sticking to it in Book 2 and Book 3.
Case #4 Character Traits=/=Cognitive Preferences/Perception
Often people conflate how a character/person acts instead of how they think and proceed with conflict. MBTI isnt really a personality theory but rather and understanding of your cognitive process and preference. It's based on how you perceive reality and how you make decisions based on your dominant function. If anything enneagram would be closer to an actual personality test.
Tumblr media
Ex- Amy March (ESFP)- I took such a long time to come to this typing because similarly to Naruto people only talked about how she was an annoying immature child. However her monologue points to her stresses and how she must stick to her SeTe rather than SeFi due to how the environment is working and suppressing women in that era.
Case #5 Just making things up
This is the most common one I see when people type characters, they usually just make things up. Sometimes there isn't any contextual evidence on what they are talking about and will mostly differ to broad and vague statements that hold no wait or aren't represented in the narrative. Sometimes they'll just take things out of context and will just go with them and end up convincing people even if their argument is 95% fabricated stuff and the 5% is misunderstanding on their part.
Tumblr media
Ex-Ada Wong (IXTJ)  Ada Wong’s Ti is non existent and no one online has ever written an argument where I there is enough evidence on what they are saying. Ada isnt a person who is interested in analytical process and internal understanding. Even character development comes from XiFi not Fe. Sorry but liking Leon but not really isnt a good argument for low Fe. Her development isnt about understanding the emotional state of the other or in relation to the other but rather the self. Even OG Resident Evil its stated that she struggles with her own values and emotional state . It's almost as if their argument hinges on ISTP=Spy characters.
Case #6 Misogyny (yeah...we are going there).
Often in typology you'll notice a dichotomy between Female characters vs Male characters. You'll notice that female characters are twice as likely to get typed as Feelers even when they dont show much usage of any feeling function. Often the arguments I see its in reference to either showing the character struggling emotionally or reacting in some way to something bad happening in their life. But when male characters such as Homelander and Patrick Bateman who have multiple emotional outburst in their runs but most people type them as Te doms. While Female characters that have emotional outburst such as Asuka and Jennifer Harding (Both Te doms) both get typed as ESFP because=SeFi=angry and emotional. It often happens in cases such as Bakugo who gets typed as an ESTP but if a female character does the same thing she gets typed as an ESFP. Im not calling you a misygonist  if you typed any of this characters like this I just think that you should reconsider your typology process.
Ex-There are allot of these so I just gonna point to a few
Tumblr media
Alice Liddle (INTP) - Being typed as an INFP but very clear her struggle is between Ti-Si and understanding her Fe.
Tumblr media
Nancy Wheeler (ESTJ)- Being nice=/=Fe she has always preferred TeSi (organizing and structuring things in step by step processes) Over using Fe.
Tumblr media
Madison Montgomery (ESTP)- Her character is pure SeTi and her struggle with her Fe is shown in both S3 and S8.
Tumblr media
Yenneffer (INTJ)- NiFi reaching the ideal self is her goal also her Te is very on your face.
Part 2 will focus on the enneagram
Please dont take any of this as an attack its an analysis on things ive seen and read if you are gonna disagree please be civil.

Note
gerri for the headcannons
characterization headcanons: gerri fields
Tumblr media
character flaws
overly idealistic, easily swayed, slightly impatient
childhood
she had a good childhood. her family was always interested in their community and school events and involved in gerri’s personal life. but because of how social and active her parents have always been within their large circle of connections, gerri’s childhood led her to crave a more personal type of one-on-one intimacy in her future
cleaning habits
she is surprisingly organized; her room is never a huge mess and she always knows where things are, picks up after you when you’re hanging out together
cooking habits
adds a bunch of extra ingredients to her instant ramen and considers it something she specializes in, interested in becoming a better cook, always shares her food
coping mechanisms
she’s a sensitive person with a very big heart, so i’d say when she’s upset she likes to externalize her feelings, playing loud music and ranting, always feels better after a good cry and sometimes does prefer to be distracted from her problems. she doesn’t cope alone, and prefers to be with you throughout any distressing moments
eating habits
has a certain aversion towards very healthy food as some kind of subtle rebellion against her parents’ annoying pestering about her diet. she would decide against having certain foods if she knows it’s the kind of dish her parents would try forcing her to eat
enneagram personality type
6w7. i believe 7w8 may seem likely for her, but i think she is really reliant on her relationships and attachments with people rather than being more of a thrill person, and hates disloyalty and dishonesty because of her strong opinions on close relationships. i would say someone who fantasizes a lot about a potential love interest and who is a bit blind to the fact that he isn’t even completely interested in her seems more 6w7, as a 7w8 would likely become bored with a lack of reciprocation
myer-briggs personality type
she is kind of the stereotype ESFP best friend
hobbies
playing the guitar for one, of course. she’s also involved in some kind of sport like volleyball or basketball that she’s actually really good at, and you always encourage her to continue with her practices, especially with how self-deprecating she can be. i also kind of see her picking up crocheting, making little things for you and hats and gloves for a christmas gift
humor
vulgar and sarcastic
insecurities
because she’s a person who’s really involved in the present, gerri may have a hard time imagining her future or finding any worth in her talents. she is easily annoyed whenever her parents ask her what she plans on doing with her degree or what she hopes to do after graduation. it takes someone she has patience for who knows and loves her enough to help her pave a future for herself in her mind and tell her that she isn’t as incapable and stuck as she feels she is sometimes
lazy day
she finds every chance to spend time with others, and lazy days are often spent indoors with you, listening to music and lounging around watching something and ordering out
pets
would probably find it gross when dogs lick her, thinks cats are bitchy and fish are boring, so she honestly wouldn’t know what to do with a pet at first. but she would soon find herself super obsessed with the dog her family gets. would take it on long walks often. her parents have to tell her to stop feeding it pieces of her dinner
secrets
she’s secretly super into something really nerdy — perhaps has the whole harry potter book collection which she’s reread a few times? she never openly admits it because she thinks it’s such a dorky thing to be into

hi moot! i heard you're into typology? i'm actually quite interested in the field of psychology and mbti types seems like an interesting and nice way to start.. what can you tell me about typology just off the top of your head?
well, i can tell you that it's a rabbit hole that will steal your sleep, sanity, and peace of mind ?
kidding.... (not) (you have been warned.)
i don't really study it anymore but here are important general things to know:
- mbti memes/media are inaccurate (you're not an intj just bc you like coffee and hate people, etc.) so don't let the stereotypes throw you off
- it's very normal to have mbti crisises and discover that you're a whole different mbti to what you originally thought
- the community is confusing and biased 😭
:)
btw you're right about mbti types being the easiest way to get into typology! i reccomend learning all the mbti types + what their cognitive functions are first, and then thinking about which one you fit the most :)
i guess tests are okay too, but do stay away from 16personalities.com bc it's shamed pretty bad in the community for being stereotypical and inaccurate (which is true) even though the avatars it made are very iconic ✮
after i reccomend studying enneagrams, but we'll talk abt that when we get there
goodluck and feel free to ask any other typology questions (but dont ask me to type u bc im really not that much of an expert T-T) 🫡
