Ivy never talked about how she got her powers, many assumed she gained her powers because of some type of experiment injecting many plant-based poisons.
If asked directly, she will say it's from her father.
In the same way she can do some eldritch things and manipulate plants, her father can do better.
In other words, Poison Ivy is Undergrowth's daughter.

Batman Freaky Femme Fatales - A Thought
(I made a post about this on my side tumblr and then deleted it without properly copying it so I could post it here.)
But one thing I will probably never see but really like is if there was a Batman movie where the Femme Fatales are sexy but also really FREAKY.
And by FREAKY I mean the freaky awesomeness of Danny De Vito's grotesque yet memorable version of the Penguin. The makeup, the sewers, the actual penguins, the live fish, the Biting of Noses!!
Don't get me wrong, the 80s/90s Batman movies had their faults. But I will never forget Michelle Pfeiffer's Selena Kyle lying dead and twitching as cats lick and bite on her bloody, lifeless fingers.
Let's take this freaky energy and go even FARTHER.
What if Selena Kyle was always the Weird Cat Lady of the apartment complex (they think it's strange for a lady her age but at least the rats are finally gone). What if her fellow tenants don't bat an eye at 50 cats visiting her apartment window the night of her transformation? But what they don't see is Selena in an eye-less trance shoveling raw fish into her mouth a la Tom Hardy in Venom.
What if Catwoman looks like a slinky Leather Dominatrix from afar, or even up close. But her victims don't just get whiplashes and scratches, they also have jugular bites from canine teeth that would put Dracula to shame?
Imagine Batman has his first fight with her and discovers that her teeth are sharp as razors, and they glisten when she grins in the moonlight. He watches her claws grow and retract because, surprise, they are her actual Fingernails!
What if Bruce Wayne struggles to kiss his girlfriend Selena because he secretly witnessed Catwoman catch a live rat with that same mouth? What if Selena secretly hopes that Bruce Wayne sleeps upside-down and eats moths for an evening snack?
What if Poison Ivy was Literally a Cryptid? What if she is the patron saint of Gotham City's most Rejected Creatures. Rats, pigeons, ravens, flies, and cockroaches visit her in swarms when they discover this new source of sustenance. They are starving, she feeds them, she eats them.
What if she is a Venus-human-trap? She looks like a forest nymph, she lures you into a false sense of security. Then the instant you are no longer useful or friendly to her, she becomes something Different. She becomes something Else. You are shrieking and crying and begging for mercy as she feeds your flesh to her Unfathomable Self.
What if Batman and Alfred, when discussing strategies to take on Poison Ivy, have to recall their understanding of Lovecraftian themes? What if Batman has the same kind of harrowing battle as a protagonist in a Junji Ito story? What if Batman has to stop Poison Ivy not only to save Gotham but also because he knows every time she allows her Ego to die it lasts a little longer than before?
Long story short, I really would love someone to make a version of Batman femme Fatales to be just a little more off, maybe just a little more strange than they usually are.
Because I promise, they will still be quite sexy, at least to me.
(Post Script: In this scenario, Batman is NOT a creature. I think it's funny if he is just a Human-Man with Human-Man training and this surprises EVERYONE he fights.)

DC's Terrors Through Time (2022) Readthrough
In the spirit of Halloween, I believe it is time to crack open one of DC holiday specials. It is time for DC’s Terror Through Time.
The book starts with a Phantom Stranger Story written by Paul Levitz and art by Raul Fernandez. This is basically a story showing Phantom Stranger fighting all types of ghouls and goblins on Halloween. And that’s it. A very mid story to start the book off with.
The comic then goes to a Super-Sons story by Sholly Fisch with art by Luciano Vecchio. Now this is a fun story. Superboy (Jon Kent) and Robin (Damian Wayne) decide to go trick-or-treating together and wear each other costumes. The pair go to various locations throughout the DC Universe to get candy, but none of the superheroes are there. So, they go to the Hall of Justice where The Justice League are captured by some demons who escaped from hell for Halloween night. The Super-Sons have to distract the demons until the spell that will send them to hell kicks in.
The next story is Gotham City Sirens story with plot and art by Peter V. Nguyen. The story starts in Hawaii in 1995 (there is no reason for it to be 1995, except for a bad joke Harley makes) with Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy meeting up. The trio discover that animals are going missing/dying. To solve this mystery, the girls go out to the jungles of the big island.
When they get to center of island, they discover the island god Pueo and the marching dead. And he tries to attack the girls, blaming man of the sickness on the island. But when they calm down a little, the Sirens realizes that it is the cats causing a disturbance on the isle. The god makes a deal with Catwoman to get the felines out of Hawaii or else Pueo will take more extreme measures.
Nguyen has a very distinct style that won’t be for everyone. This is a story where art will make or break it for you.
Then the book tells a story with classic DC supernatural force Swamp Thing. It is written by Zac Thompson with art by Andy McDonald. And this is a post-nuclear apocalypse story. Two people are gathering food out in the swamp when a two-headed gator monster attacks them. Swamp Thing arrives and manages to stall the creature until the pair escape. Many years later, the girl comes back to swamp and is attacked by the swamp monster, but this time Swamp Thing manages to kill it. A very simple, but well-enough told story for the season.
We go to the old school with JSA story by Charles Skaggs and Tom Mandrake. This takes place in 1944, and the JSA are afraid that the Nazis will get a power mystical artifact. However, the group is too late because the artifact is already active, releasing all types of horrors. The team is split up to face challenges from the supernatural horrors alone, but Dr. Midnight arrives to assist in freeing the rest of the team. Before the JSA can stop this menace, they have to awaken Dr. Fate to break the spell. The JSA wins the day and it the terror is over… OR IS IT?
The book then gets a little cosmic with a Green Lanterns story by Jeremy Haun and art by Juan Doe. In the far-out year of 2447, a pair of lanterns explore an empty sector of space. The two come across a large creepy tower. When they enter the Lanterns come across mysterious chanting and sacrifices being made. But weird insect-like creatures attack the pair. They fight off the bugs, but they fail to stop the sacrifice. An eldritch creature almost escapes but a Lantern sacrifices himself to stop it. However, before surviving Lantern can get breath, she is alerted to 6 more signatures matching the creature that attacked them.
A very good use of the concept of Green Lanterns without using characters modern readers might expect. Touches on the emptiness that space can hold. A real highlight of this anthology.
We lose the dawn of man with the rise of Etrigan with story by Matthew Levine and art by Jorge Corona. We start in the medieval ages in a village where kids are going missing. Luckily a wandering Jason Blood comes to town to stop this demon. He manages to go to the lair of the demon. Blood releases Etrigan to fight the demon. Etrigan saves the kids and buries the demon under rubble. The demon alerts Etrigan he will be back in several centuries, assuming Blood would be dead by then. However, Jason Blood does not play like most mortals and arrives to finally slay the demon. A fun story but nothing special.
The anthology ends with a tale by the most famous creators, Tim Seeley writing and Kelley Jones on art. They tell a Damian Wayne and Deadman story together. And yup, it is a banger of a story, with amazing creepy art by Jones.
It opens on Deadman haunting Wayne Manor, and he gets stabbed by Damain with a silver spoon. Brand came to warn Batman that a vengeance demon is after him. But in a twist, when the demon attacks, it goes after Damain: the boy who killed him. Deadman and Robin try to fight the demon, but only succeed when Deadman when something more powerful claimed his soul. Damain thinks Deadman was bluffing, but the truth is something evil has chosen Robin to do its will.
Overall, this anthology was a fun read. It was a bad choice to start off with its weakest story (The Phantom Stranger), but this has many strong stories in it (Both Damian ones, the future Green Lantern). Overall, while not scary, the comic makes for a fun reading experience.

Siv: Was born (created?) with 6 fingers on her right hand, which Eobard had removed so that she'd be as normal-passing as possible, despite it being unneccesary.
Jay: Implanted a series of chips into his non-dominant hand in order to be able to control his wheelchair remotely using only hand signals
Cassandra: still only uses Facebook like some kind of grandmother
Hailey: Cannot be in proximity to Siv when she's in eldritch mode for too long because Siv's eldritch powers make it difficult for her to maintain her physical form.
Arya: Claims they have difficulty both reading and writing human languages, but they're actually just dyslexic
Ember: Has two teacup chihuahuas, named Gucci and Prada, that they carry around in a tiny pink handbag. Prada and Gucci pictured below-
Gina: Would have made valedictorian if she hadn't died at the end of the school year
Esme: Started her career as a model at 15, much to Eobard's disapproval.
Cat: Is wanted by the governments of 14 different countries for her hacktivism
Kyle: Has four bullet scars in his back from a particularly nasty situation in which he was helping an abuse victim escape her boyfriend. Needless to say, the shitty ex got electrocuted.
Max: Found out Siv was alive because they took the same pole dance class because he wanted to be able to give Kyle a very special birthday present
Eric: Spent most of his childhood and young adulthood under Apartheid, and has significant trauma from it, leading to him being very protective of his children
Jacob: Met Eric while on a study abroad trip to South Africa in college
Khalil: Watched his uncle disintegrate himself by overloading on magic and that's why he fears using his own
Antonio: Once killed 4 cops by telekinetically shattering the glass of several skyscrapers around him, and subconsciously creating a tornado of broken glass to protect himself
Reggie: Accidentally caused a week of panic for her parents when she tried to shadow travel for the first time and ended up getting stuck in the shadow realm, leading to her parents believing she had been kidnapped
Ameerah: Has been the victim of "Millenials and Gen Z can't read cursive" because the bank teller at a bank she wanted to rob couldn't read "This is a robbery".
Rania: Torched Eobard's lab after finding out what he had done, before confronting him. It was definitely a nice surprise for him to come back to, all of his life's work and research reduced to ashes.
Meredith: Built the text-to-speech/speech-to-text system that she uses to compensate for her deafness at the age of 8.
Kelsie: Has been mistaken for Poison Ivy due to her plant-based powers, despite Poison Ivy being literally GREEN.
Cory: Has a highly successful TikTok account where she posts about Decora-kei fashion, which is her primary source of income.
Director Hawke: Killed her daughter when she found out what she was doing, because she considered her a "deviant-sympathizer", whatever that's supposed to mean.
Torryn: Has both meta-powers (psychometry/seeing an object's past by touching it), and magic abilities, though they're quite weak, considering that his closest Witch ancestor was his 3rd great-grandfather.
Onnie: Despite being an extremely powerful speedster, she prefers to drive places, because most of her clothes are extremely expensive, and she doesn't want them to be destroyed.
Pippa: Goes through a villain arc because she is so sick of being walked all over due to her kind and forgiving nature (also a bit of Negative Speed Force corruption via Onnie might have a part to play in it)
Jessi: Has a net worth of nearly a billion dollars, from both legal activities (her music career) and illegal activities (being a mob boss)
Hyun-Ki: Is a classically trained countertenor, and can hit an A6 on a good day (plenty of warmup and sleep, lots of water, etc). However, he primarily uses his lower register to sing because he got bullied in high school for his voice.
Marie: Had her least favorite coworker assimilated because she was fed up with him constantly insinuating that she was a traitor or spy because she's half Romulan and got in deep trouble for that (it was totally worth it)
Liah: Was almost the first Cardassian Bollywood star, but chickened out and joined Starfleet because she hated the attention. She still occasionally performs for her coworkers.
Qiara: Learned how to harness starlight in order to supplement her own energy reserves because her powers are significantly weaker than the average Q
Soraya: Can't stand Ferengi, since they're always really creepy to her despite her being a starship captain.
Thalia: Spent 3 months institutionalized after killing her Master to save her squad, due to reckless choices including stealing and crashing the Chancellor's speeder on a whim
Reyna: Matchmade her former Master and the guy that her stepmom tried to force her to marry
Athena: Is still somewhat illiterate due to only learning to read when she was in her mid/late teens and managed to get her doctorate in biology by transferring all her textbooks onto audio files
Laila: Is a massive tea snob. Don't give her some crappy bargain tea, she will in fact kill you for that.
Pyrrha: Had to be taught how to swear due to her extremely controlled upbringing. A stormtrooper who said "heck" in front of her was subject to execution.
Aldrich: Speaks like the protagonist of a Bronte romance, due to being British and being turned during the Regency Era.
Samira: Her father, who is an Imam, was surprisingly supportive of her desire to marry a vampire, and married them in secret, because he would rather his daughter have a forbidden romance than be miserable because she couldn't marry the person she loved.
Matt: His joints are in worse shape than they probably should be, because his stepfather is EXTREMELY traditional and believes he can just macho his EDS away, putting him through intense training.
Vanessa: Is quite literally invulnerable (at least for the next few years) due to all the changes that Venator St. James did to her with his experiments, and needing time for her original DNA to reassert itself.
Dolores: Got a job at the Red Cross and had her fangs filed down so she could pass in normal society as human. She feeds on the rejected and expired blood bags, i.e. the donor had a bloodborne illness or it expired or something.
Sohelia: Despite her vampire heritage meaning that she would be naturally more vulnerable to sunlight, thanks to *melanin* from her mom's side, she's surprisingly resistant, and is only as vulnerable as your average Northern European person (aka steps in a sunbeam and gets a bad burn)
Victorie: Occasionally creeps people out with her usage of modern slang, which she technically shouldn't know because she's been isolating herself for 200 years, but knows because of her ability to dreamwalk
Kayla: Was fully conscious while committing all the atrocities that HYDRA forced her to do after capturing her post-CATWS, due to them forgoing the brainwashing and instead choosing to control her via an implanted chip
Dori: Is usually seen as unnaturally pretty/handsome (depending on which form they're in) because they used their shapeshifting abilities to rid themselves of any perceived flaws.

Daisy, Lilith, & Venus in Outlaws Headcanons
This is going to be so much fun

Lilith and Daisy join at the same time because besties and Venus is the last to join
Their recruitment basically went like
Daisy: This is my friend Lilith and she's amazing with tech :D!
Lilith: Daisy is great at patching people up
Jason: Okay Lilith's in charge of technology and security and Daisy is our medic and a sometimes field agent
Venus: I'm married to Kyle and he asked me to join because there needs to be an even number of girls
Jason: Field agent
They would soon realize it was both a blessing and a curse to leave someone like Lilith in charge of both tech and security
Lilith is so unserious on comms. Like she's already pretty silly, but being in charge of their communications has really brought out her inner menace
She will bring up the most embarrassing shit at the most inconvenient of times for no reason other than to troll
"I know what Jason and Summer did in the break room" "Lilith, NO-"
Has Jason microchipped not in an abusive way (*glares at Gotham War!Bruce*) but in a funny way. Like "I literally cannot afford for you to get lost because you're tech illiterate" way
As for Daisy, she's the Nurse Joy of the team. She has intermediate medical knowledge and uses her powers to create medicines and remedies
Venus has experience with being on teams: the Star Sapphires, Trifecta, etc so the crackhead energy of the Outlaws is nothing to her
These three are the most terrifying members for different reasons
A lot of people outside the Outlaws don't know that Lilith is basically a Fallen Angel so if someone manages to get past their security by some stroke of luck, then horrors beyond their comprehension await them
Not to mention Lilith has an expansive knowledge of black magic and the dark arts as a whole
Let's not forget the part where Lilith can also just possess the entire Outlaws computer system and become a techno eldritch horror
When Daisy does get called out to the field, she'd get underestimated a lot because a lot of people would chalk her up to being baby Poison Ivy
That is until she actually uses her powers and they realize that hers are grotesque eldritch horrors (Daisy's Persephone slay as Summer says)
Let's say, hypothetically, that Venus still has the SS power ring. Venus's powers as a Star Saphire are unique because her sincere love for her life and others fuels the rings power to the max
One of her powers is crystallization, turning anything she comes in contact with into pure space crystal. This is scary for a number of reasons
If she's going by Boombox at the point she joins the Outlaws then it's even more scary because Boomin' Bot is a mix between Baymax, an Iron Man suit, Pat Dugan's S.T.R.I.P.E mech, Spiderbot, and an Eva unit from NGE all in one

Adventures in Writing DC Fanfictions: Writing My Own Batman.
One of the things I did with my Batman story is make my main character have a physical disability (Cerebral Palsy.) and go from there. Why? Because it makes his fights all the more creative. Sure, it's a milder form of Cerebral Palsy, but it still makes me think in ways to make this Batman unique from other depictions.
He has the toolkit from Bruce, he has all the gadgets and most of the skills, but he has that constant physical weakness. He shouldn't have been Robin or anywhere NEAR the Cowl but here he is.
There's a lot of self doubt and even self hatred with this Batman. The idea of Batman working alone is almost an indictment on how Bruce still thinks he should've worked alone. In this case my Batman struggles with what he learned from Bruce, his father.
Having him with his disability makes how he takes down the criminals in Gotham even more interesting because he knows he can't brute force his way through every encounter, so what did I do?
Took a little inspiration from an old radio program called 'The Shadow'. Where the main character uses different tactics like throwing his voice or some other misdirection to throw his foes into sheer fear.
But then there's the idea from Overly Sarcastic Productions where Red said, "If you can't imagine your Batman comforting a child, then you just wrote the Punisher in a funny hat."
Now, initially, I made my Batman a very angry, enraged boy lashing out because he lost someone very important. But there's moments of genuine sincerity and kindness from him that come out.
There’s also a sense that this isn’t voluntary and my Batman sees the cowl as his responsibility to uphold.
His Gotham City is a mix between the real and the gothic horrors. The Rogues he fights are very real depictions of broken people.
But then there’s the old Arkham Asylum where horrifying things happened there and manifested it as a ‘Bat Demon’.
Or the pseudo eldritch Poison Ivy who was inspired by Bramble: The Mountain King and The Green Knight.
But then there’s Mr. Freeze and Calendar Girl who are both broken by the systems that they were in. Or a Scarecrow that wields his Fear Toxins like a stage effect because he’s a musician.
My Batman faces these people in different ways to his father, Bruce. He sees them as people that were broken or used to further some goal or motive beyond their control.

I am Batman Part 4
Alright so- Justice League.
In my personal Batman Canon, Dick is about 14 (and Bruce/Bryce is 27) when the JL forms or at least, Batman and Superman first team up. (Plus uhhh I think Damian is conceived here. In this AU, it's Ra's who has been watching Batman find out that Batman is human and then stealing some DNA.)
There's always a MILLION reasons why they team up so fuck it, let's go with alien invasion.
Shapeshifters. Martians? I like legit watched ONE old cartoon for ten minutes with Manhunter and that's the reason.
Or whoever attacked them?
...yeah no shapeshifting aliens invading it is.
Manhunter approaches Superman first and then Wonder Woman. They begin hunting for others to help. It's Green Arrow and Flash who bring up Batman, the spirit in Gotham. they aren't sure if it'll work, but they need to try.
Bryce would like it known she doesn't like this. But she does come to them as the bat, creeping behind them, silent as a grave to growl and hiss at them. Talon cackles from a streetlight as Batgirl, named by the media, laughs her high laugh from a billboard.
"What do you want?" the shadow asks the heroes. "We have nothing for you here..."
Because it's true. The rogues that Batman fights are Penguin still, the man in and out of jail, with Riddler appearing alongside Condiment King and Kiteman. Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze have also appeared, though Poison Ivy seems more invested in convincing Batman to join her in her goals. Mr. Freeze just wonders how many of the spirits died due to illness. Bryce knows more will come soon.
She just doesn't know when. (this is my canon for Batman. 'safe' rogues were appearing first, then we get the really dangerous ones. Poison ivy is dangerous as fuck, but I prefer the headcanon she isn't as bad as some others.)
"We need your help, if you can." it's explained and then... for some reason... they think she is a spirit. She doesn't understand. She really doesn't- how can they not? Doesn't Manhunter read minds? What's going on. But they need to focus first.
Batman appears with the others, fighting off aliens. The few media drones who catch the battle hear the hissing of the Spirit, the entity, as it growls and snaps. It is GOTHAM and even the crime in the city stalls, watching with baited breath.
Bryce would like it known that she is NOT a fan of fighting shapeshifting aliens. She does it, but fuck is it bad. She's also you know, worried why no one sees through her.
They win though, with some help from Batgirl. Barbara isn't Oracle, but her genius knows little match (a young boy with a camera who watches the news with squinted eyes outclasses her, but it is only by a small amount). They win, and in the end the Justice League is formed.
They still end up with all their snazzy things and stuff cause the government, Clark's Alien tech, Diana's riches, Bryce's more liquid money and Green Arrow's money helps.
Bryce presses at the group, wondering why no one notices anything. Why they don't react to her. She even goes to Metropolis to see if Clark can recognize her. He doesn't. (And if it leads to a one night stand, well she does it for bragging rights and the chance to see how that stamina affects him). It is here she learns the truth:
They all fully believe Batman is a bunch of souls formed by Gotham. there are all sorts of questions how he can leave Gotham that Batman slaps a: magic and cause world needs me to on. They accept it.
There is a bunch of research about the phenomenon, as Bryce tries to understand how it works.
Also, like while this happens Dick ends up forming the Teen Titans at age fifteen and suddenly Bryce is dealing with baby superheroes and also parenting with the other JL members who have sidekicks.
"Talon is a child. He may be a spirit but..."
"Oh no, we get it." "Wait, you guys eat?"
It's fun. But back to the weirdness. As I said, it's either magic or Gotham.
I actually like Eldritch horror Gotham more then 'magic Bryce' so fuck it. Gotham has a personification who tracks down Bryce to explain shit. Said personification ends up basically living on the farm and keeps leading Bryce to more riches in the underground caves in Gotham. Which awesome, more money- how the fuck did no one FIND THIS SHIT GOTHAM?
... Gotham is a wine aunt and enabler for all of Bryce's children and flirts with Alfred.
Gotham protects Bryce and helps shift her aura and prevent people from going into her head. Gotham protects Dick and Barbara to as time goes on. At times as well, a shift of a wall, a loose floorboard, an easy to each gargoyle saves them each time. The family is thankful.
Gotham is still an enabler though.
Times goes on, and suddenly Bryce is dealing with more teenage bullshit. Talon convinces the titans he can have sex/kiss people and suddenly he's dating Starfire, and Batgirl is upset and Batman wants a drink please.
Dick finds himself banished to chop wood or clean the coop a few times. Bryce doesn't care WHAT you do Dick, just don't do it where someone sees and complains to her.
Then he breaks up with Starfire before dating Kid Flash. Bryce wants a refund on teenagers. Alfred laughs at her and Gotham teaches Dick places to hide.
However, Dick breaks up with KF for the reason he breaks up with Starfire: he will never tell them who he is.
Bryce watches as Barbara finally makes a move she's been slowly wanting to for a while. It's cute.
Bryce does have to get a hose a few times though, and now both are cleaning the barn. You break the rules of NOT doing that in the public areas of the house and you get punished.
Dick is seventeen when Bryce finds a young boy stealing tires. Not her tires, but some tires.
She isn't surprised to know who it is.
