Been spending my free time watching/reading JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. Finished the pre-Stand order, and it is pretty good. Joesph is just a joy.

Well, whatever that Beavis and Butthead sketch that SNL just did, it did the hardest thing for me to do an episode: call it quits there and catch up in the morning.
Just a staggering amount of incompetence in one sketch both writing wise and performance-wise (Mikey, Heidi, Chloe, and Kenan: you have all been there for 5+ years, you should not be breaking for this dumb sketch.) Sorry Ryan Gosling and Chris Stapleton.

SNL needs to time things out better, so we get at least 3 sketches in the back half, but tonight's episode is the best one since October. Just fun having Kristen's vibes back, and I hope the show manages to carry that energy on for next week Ryan Gosling episode. Excited to see cut-for-times later.
Very nice use of Dismukes and JAJ tonight. (But use Longfellow, show! He is a star! Should not be shutout of episodes!)
This is either number 2 or 3 of S49 depending on how I feel in the morning.

Raye is a great musical guest with her jazzy vibes. Great choice SNL/Kristen Wiig!

The good news is that at the halfway point, this Kristen Wiig episode of SNL will probably get in the Top 5 of the season. The monologue was a fun subversion of SNL 5-Timers Club and how often people join.
The bad news is that it is relying a lot on guest stars like Matt Damon, Will Forte (who is doing his best to make up for the sins of his SNL episode), and John Hamm.
The best sketch with the current cast was the Jumanji sketch with Andrew Dismukes. Heidi tried her best to make her secretary character work.

SNL Season 49 15/20 episodes
And the backhalf of the Ramy episode let me down. 5/10 night... and it is probably one of the better episodes of this season. At least I will remember that Marcello immigrant dad sketch/monologue.
Bowen, Heidi, Ego, and Sarah are just being crushed by the SNL machine and people like Longfellow, Kenan, and Molly are getting scraps.
With 75% percent of the season done, my current Top5 of Season 49 of SNL:
Nate Bargatze
Timothee Chalamet
Adam Driver (and that is based 100% on his performance)
Sydney Sweeney (which was okay)
And I guess...Bad Bunny (which isn't a great episode, but there is no other SNL like it)
Anyone of these episodes (expect Nate's) can easily lose their spot with basic fun episode. I'm just tired of just okay to mediocre SNL. Show needs a reboot of some sort.

Halfway point of SNL: Really enjoying Ramy and the relaxed vibes that he is bringing to SNL. Nice to have so many Muslim point-of-view bits during Easter weekend. Immigrant dads is the best Marcello piece of the season.
In the bad: writing is still a little rough (ala the cat coach sketch/ PDD), they did a repeat sketch (but at least they did a repeat of the Quinta gameshow), the pacing is still awful, and they did AN EASTER TRUMP COLD OPEN FAKE-OUT FOR THE 3RD YEAR IN A ROW.
(Also, personal preference, not a Travis Scott guy).

Welp, that was terrible episode of SNL. Uhhhh, might get .5/5 from me, cause while I can name episodes that are worse than this one, there aren't many.
Brolin was a kinda creepy throughout the night. The saving "grace" was Andrew, but he has done better. Show probably needs to stop using Heidi so much, cause she bombing since the show got through winter break.
Bottom 10 season of SNL!

When we get the first musical performance at 12:20 something has gone wrong with the timing of SNL. And when the show doesn't have a back half (should be 4 sketches, but I will settle for 3), it makes for a poor viewing experience!
Ariana Grande is still a delight to have the show.

Congrats to Josh Brolin for summarizing my relationship with SNL right now.
Surrender to the discomfort!

That Sydney Sweeney such is pretty. I hope that I get a better takeaway from SNL tonight.

The theme of the night's SNL is that the Shane Gillis is a prick of the highest order. He natural douche-energy is actively tanking the sketches.
And it is a shame because otherwise the sketch writing is the strongest that it has been in a while.

The sketch writing this week has been great and it is a shame that Shane Gillis is such an asshole. He is hurting the comedy so much with his presence.

God damn it, the sketches so far have actually been good. Ego-lead a great preacher sketch, and the boys did some rock solid pretape work with Rock-Bottom Kings which did some gambling ad satire.
I am so annoyed that the monologue was so bad.

I wanted to give this episode a fair shake, but uh, that "your gay" bit in the monologue is not going to do it for me. Just F-You Gillis, and Lorne having him on the show. It's going to be rough one.

Did not think SNL would do a Bill Brasky-style sketch about the modern Republican party, but to the person that made that decision: well done.
Best political satire in a while.
