I keep seeing this same thing over and over again where people try to divide up the "good trans people" and the "bad trans people". Useally by trying to claim that the bad group is some combination of over represented or giving the group a bad name. And like, there's always something very racist about what's considered good and bad, specifically conflating trans people with traits the west considers eastern.
"Good" transmascs are defined by having facial hair and body hair, having traditionally masculine body types, have extremely western interests and ways of dressing, etc. And the "bad" transmascs are stereotyped as being too slender and hairless, and for wanting to look like anime boys or Kpop idols, and for being somehow both sexless and perverted, etc. Like, there's a very clear trend here with these truscumy posts.
Same goes for transfems. Where "bad transfems" are seen as being obsessed with looking like anime girls, being too into computers, being flat chested and childlike, and being horny in a submissive way.
There's a very clear trend where every trait members of the queer community consider negative in other queer people match up with negative stereotypes the west has about eastasian people. It's why you hear "you can't transition into an anime boy" coming from people who in the past we would call truscum, when fandoms like Dr. Who or Hazbin Hotel which also have a lot of transmasc fans and twinkish characters get ignored by them. It's why the standards for what they consider passing are always bodies that look white and dress very western. It's why femboys are seen as gross and perverted, while drag queens are seen as wholesome and marketable, they're both crossdressing performers, but one has Anglo-Australian origins while the other has Japanese origins, which is why you'll never see a library with femboy story hour.
Just like how people who enforce the gender binary may be bioessentialists, but will also claim being male or female is something one can fail at, the same goes for white supremacy; whiteness is seen as something white people can fail at. So even if the "bad trans people" in question are white, what they're being scolded for is ultimately that they're failing at whiteness, and because whiteness is tied to gender roles they're failing at masculinity or femininity.
Every trait trans people say makes other trans people "one of the bad ones" is just an orientalist stereotype. This truscumish behavior that's getting more and more popular isn't happening in a void.
I saw a post that basically said how Pansy being perceived as East Asian is problematic, and reinforces racist stereotypes. Personally, I do see her as East Asian descent, specifically South Korean, in the same way I see Harry as half Indian because of James, and Hermione as black...
I don't get what the massive problem is with projecting colour onto characters with little to none description on skin colour whatsoever. Isn't fleshing them out like this and envisioning them as poc far more inclusive and progressive as opposed to everyone being whiter than a sheet of paper?
I want to learn to draw more diverse skin colors than my generic light brown eastasian skin tone(like srsly I can't even draw white ppl.how does that even work and why are they orange) I noticed your art is really nice- do you have any tips?
erm tbh i do not have any tips on my mind bc i dont know what im doing most of the time uh lemme think.
for skin tones i mostly use a skin tone palette and adjust colors with tone curve until it looks alright.
i have to remind myself a lot not to pressure myself to do art bc it makes drawing harder to do and it's easier to burn yourself out that way. just do what and when when you wanna
my third tip draw less white people >:)!!!!!!! unwhite them even muahahah
I think it's really funny how in the forgotten realms Faerûn is vaguely European all over with no particular region corresponding to any real part of Europe whereas Kara-Tur has one-to-one fantasy version of every major Eastasian ethnic group
Hi! this reminds me a lot actually of the social dynamic a few years back when it was all the rage to punch nazis. hell im all for it, if you arent fighting for your beliefs you dont have any in the first place. but what we got was WOMEN mainly sharing videos of dorks like richard spencer getting sucker punched and his attacker high tailin it out of there. the problem is to all actual men, no matter who recieves a sucker punch it registeres as low immediately, women dont get this, and niether if im honest do a large portion of nonwhite/east asian people they just dont see the big deal in hitting an opponent unawares. guys like andrew tate, and sean strickland only seem based to women and nonwhite/eastasian men, but to white and east asian men their behavior is seen as low and transparently so.
@12.30 Eldridge The synagogue tour was fun and informative, the tour guide shared particularly interesting trivia about the history, origin and renovation of the synagogue.... including the floor boards that were undulated due to the constant weight of the people in the synagogue , the anecdote regarding the curtain rods in for the upper floor segregated for women is also funny... the prints on the ground floor, the kiki smith designed blue glass window with stars... the videos from the early 19oos...and the pics from restorations.
It was one if those rare curated tours of a religious place that draw complete attention of the participants ... was almost like a cultural history tour, appreciated it...
Since I had time before the next activity, i wandered around synagogue. It was surrounded by eastasian shops and eateries... i bought dried rice cakes and mochi...and very reasonablely priced
The candid conversation about racism scheduled in the evening again did not materialised...
