notice how Seward said, "I am entering this on Lucy's phonograph" - that means, most likely, while everyone else was having breakfast/lunch yesterday - Quincey, Van Helsing, and the maids - could all hear Seward through the thin walls doing their voices.
imagining one of the maids going tsk-tsk, sipping her tea, and muttering with a sigh, "Bachelors..."
Us, reading Dracula (1897): “Oh hey, here comes a new character! Dude has a hundred abbreviations after his name too. Bet he’ll be an interesting addition to the cast--”
Every Director: “There is only one cure for the ailments caused by the suave and enigmatic undead seduction-man Count Coolname. And that is the knowledge and awesome (practically-solo!!) power of Dr. Van Coolername. And some other guys, I guess”
"Come, we must see and act. Devils or no devils, or all the devils at once, it matters not; we fight him all the same," is such a raw and powerful line.
I'm just sorry it was declared because Lucy took another turn for the worse. Thanks, in part, to her mother who thought she was helping. Madam, you are not a medical professional. Please, do not touch anything.
Somehow Re:Dracula has made the polycule even more believable to me then before. I was fully onboard with it last year but this year I'm even more on board with it.
Jonathan and his wife Mina and Mina’s girlfriend Lucy and Lucy’s husband Arthur and their boyfriends Quincey and Jack and Jack’s sugar daddy Van Helsing-
I'm down with a bad cold but I really wanted to draw this after it came to me in a vision. I even tried to mimick the art style of the comic the OG reaction image is from. Hope it's as funny as my illness-plauged brain thought it was
The idea of Van Helsing not only attending the same university as Henry Jekyll, and Hastie Lanyon, but also being good friends with them is something that is so wild, so scary, yet so funny to me.
Because there is the very real possibility of Van Helsing contacting Jekyll, and simply telling him his theories regarding Lucy's supernatural condition. Since on J&H it's established that Jekyll does believe in the supernatural, but you know in a very mad science way.
I can't even imagine the kind of gothic disaster that could happen if doctor Henry "morality can be a mask if you try!" Jekyll went to the Westenra household with Van Helsing as "help" for Lucy.
[ID: Edited stills from the show Parks and Recreation of April Ludgate introducing her boyfriend and her boyfriend's boyfriend, made to be a meme about Dracula. The edited captions across multiple images read, "This is my girlfriend Mina, and this is Mina's girlfriend, Lucy. And this is Lucy's boyfriend, Arthur. And this is Arthur's boyfriend, Quincey, and this is Quincey's boyfriend, Jack, and this is Jack's boyfriend, Dr. Van Helsing." / End ID]
Dr. VH: *kicks down the door and falls flat on his ass*
The Count: *looks up with red eyes and bloody teeth, throws Mina aside, and springs at our heroes*
Dr. VH: *waggles an envelope containing one (1) cracker* No! Bad vampire! Bad!!
The Count: What is that, anthrax?
Dr. VH: It is The Host!
Harem Hooligans: *proudly hold out their crucifixes like Care Bears pushing out their tummies*
The Count: Jewelry and Jesus Cheezits?! Fuck this-- BAT! *sudden darkness, Quincey gets the lights and, like bad dinner theater, now The Count is NoWhErE tO bE sEeEeEn*
Van Helsing: Thank goodness Mina is no longer involved with this Dracula business! All this scary stink and icky rats and dusty dirt would be too much for her to handle. Isn’t that right?
Jack at maximum teacher’s pet: Of course, Professor :)
Jonathan, white-knuckling it through trying to convince himself going against his every instinct in wanting to just talk to Mina is Good, Actually: Yes :)
Mina, pale and tired, clenching her jaw to keep from mentioning any tears, fears, frustrations or suspiciously familiar nightmares that would upset anyone and/or further distance herself from the goings-on: Yes :)
Jonathan is out hunting down Dracula's safe-house; Arthur and Quincey are adopting and raising a menagerie of animals (terriers and horses); Dr. Van Helsing is looking up holistic vampire remedies in a library; Seward's favorite patient appears to be dead; and Mina is looking worse for wear with everyone still thinking it's because she's emotional and not at all vampire related.
It’s hereeee! It has arrived! My hardback proof copy of the Dracula Daily Sketch Collection! My housemate spotted a few text issues to fix on the back cover, but otherwise it looks so gooood! My tiny Art Child!
Hoping to get a paperback proof sorted next, then onto seeing how best to sell them!
