Stop constantly writing post-Dracula novels about how the Harkers cheat on each other and divorce and Seward turns into Jack the Ripper and everyone but Dracula was the Real Monster Actually and start writing ones where Jonathan reunites with the crucifix lady and the coachman and they dine together with Mina and their little boy.

Why do you write like you're running out of time?

Had this idea all the way back at the end of last year's Dracula season, and since it's upon us again, decided to draw it! (tagged for spoilers for first time readers)

A piece inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula - a novel I’m pretty sure I’ve read ten times over at this point between a personal love for the spooky and moody, and a thesis I wrote on Gothic Lit.

As downright silly as it can sometimes be ( Harker is an absolute Himbo and you can fight me on that ; mans has one braincell and the survival instinct of a jar of nutella) I hold it dear to my heart. I always thought Mina was a badass; what do you guys think?

I like to think that Jonathan and Mina proposed during a transcription exercise. While dictating something, Jonathan got overwhelmed with love, and noted something like, 'The details of this case are being transcribed by the wonderful Miss Mina Murray, who I very much hope one day, if she would like, and if she feels the same, that is to say, could...do me the honor of becoming Miss Mina Harker?" and/or Mina, in taking notes for Jonathan, asks if he could check the accuracy of what she wrote down, and shows him that at the end of what she dictated, she wrote, "Will you marry me?"

Okay but the homoromanticism of "I am longing to be with you, and by the sea, where we can talk together freely and build our castles in the air."!!

"I'm longing to be with you" and "talk together freely" scream queer energy to me. They can talk together freely and build their castles in the air, hinting at both a long history (children build castles by the sea: Mina is looking forward to what is essentially a very childlike thing; hinting that this might be a simple thing she and Lucy used to do together as girls) and idle hopes for a future together -- because doesn't "building castles in the air" carry some sort of hopeful yet hopeless connotation, something about dreaming about things you know will never be allowed to happen? And doesn't dreaming the impossible together carry the implicit assumption, or hope, that this future, these dreams -- if they do, by some miracle, come true -- can be experienced together?

What should I do to find someone like mina who is practising using a typewriter to stenograph for Jonathan?!

Or someone like Lucy who is so madly in love with Arthur that she mentioned 'I love him' more than 5 times in a letter to Mina?!

how dare adaptations make dracula/mina the ship when first of all, jonathan is the obvious gothic heroine of the book, and second of all mina would put the fear of God in dracula for touching her man. she proposed to him as soon as he woke up from his coma and MARRIED him while he was in the sick bed of a catholic hospital, this girl is Not Normal either
