Hi! For Isabela and Alma prompts how about Isabela telling Alma she doesn't want to marry Mariano?
Ask and ye shall receive 💕
Tumblr media
"Such a perfect match and so good for the Encanto."
"Such a fine young man with our perfect Isabela will bring a new generation of magical blessings, and make both of our families stronger."
"The perfect gentleman for our perfect young lady."
Isabela could recite it all. She could copy Abuela's exact tone of voice if she wished. If she dared.
For so long, she'd smiled and nodded. She'd played along and agreed, parroting Abuela; "So perfect. He's so sweet. So wonderful. Everything will be perfect."
It was always on the tip of her tongue to say, "Abuela, I don't love him. I can't do this. I don't want to do this. I think you like him more than I do. Please, let's not go ahead."
She hadn't dared. Abuela was happy. The family was happy. The village was happy.
Isabela had told herself that was all she needed. How could she possibly break her poor grandmother's heart? Her abuela, who loved her so dearly, who was so excited for her...But Abuela was excited about a fantasy that simply didn't exist.
And Abuela was trying to be different now. She had apologised to everyone, she'd promised to stop holding on so tight. She apologised to Isabela for yelling and saying she was out of control. Abuela had even hesitantly asked her about all the stuff she'd grown before the Miracle went out.
Isabela was different too. For the first time ever, she was taking the time to find out who she was. She tried new things; she felt freer than she ever had before.
But among all the changes, there was one loose thread: Mariano Guzman.
Poor, sweet, air-headed, gentlemanly Mariano. She couldn't keep lying anymore.
She'd already told her parents that morning, but she insisted on telling Abuela herself, turning down their offers to help. All the same, Isa knew that Julieta and Agustín would be in ear-shot, ready to jump in if things went south. Isabela hoped they wouldn't. She hoped Abuela would listen to her this time.
"Abuela?" Isabela stood before her, her heart pounding. "I have something to tell you."
"Yes, amor?" Abuela smiled expectantly. Love and pride were in her gaze as always, shining like stars. Were those twin lights about to go out forever?
Isabela steadied her nerves and took a deep breath. Be brave, she told herself. You need to be brave. Tell the truth.
She looked Abuela straight in the eye.
"I don't want to marry Mariano."

No cracks, no breaks, no mistakes, no pressure💪❤️
Tumblr media
I think most of us can collectively agree surface pressure is an absolute bop that also emotionally ripped you apart. Anyways here’s luisa! I’ve wanted to draw her for a while now but kept on giving up aha. Anyways this is encanto screenshot redraws part 2!! I feel like I never really talk about luisa as a character but I LOVE HER 🫶🫶 the way she was constantly trying to protect her little sister in this song and then trying to be strong for everyone else :( in the tale of three sisters book I really loved how they portrayed her! fun fact the “I need you scene” luisa thought antonio wanted her help because people always say they need her to do stuff😭 also can we talk about how these townspeople have been making this girl do their labour for HOW MANY YEARS??? like she’s only 19 during the movie and having to move the church every week because these people are SO LAZY! I loved her dynamic with mirabel in the rare glimpses we got of it but I would love to know how her relationship is with isabela, does she also envy her because she doesn’t have all the responsibilities of the town other than flowers? like is it an unspoken thing whereas mirabel makes her jealousy VERY obvious lmaoo. I just find it so sad how luisa spends more time doing work than hanging out with her sisters like how I would kill to see what their dynamic was when they were all younger. Anyways luisa is always left out you guys (and myself) need to appreciate her more also her design makes me SO HAPPY and the fact little girls have this strong sensitive buff woman to look up to makes my heart soar🫶
LIVE LAUGH LOVE LUISA MADRIGAL 💪

10, 28, 35, 52 for the DA ask game!
[ask game]
Hi!! Thank you for the ask :)
10. Share a pic of your favorite OC from any DA game.
Ok I'm cheating a little and making this my fave screenshot of an OC instead of a screenshot of my fave OC lol, cos i got the t-pose (or ig a-pose) glitch with Ari, and walking around Skyhold like this game me a good laugh
Tumblr media
28. Inquisitor’s feelings on being the Herald of Andraste?
June: Hates it so much. Being pushed into a religious position is *exactly* what she escaped from from her family, and now it is being done again on an even greater scale. She vehemently denies being the Herald, but up until HLTA there was a tiny part of her wondering if it could be true, which frankly just made it worse (finding out that she was right about the Andraste thing not being real was a huge weight off her shoulders)
Ari: He does not believe in Andraste and consequently does not believe in being the Herald one bit, and isn't thrilled about being called such. And while he does not actively support it, he is well aware that denying it would neither work nor help, so he begrudgingly lets it slide.
35. Who do you want to see return in the next game?
MM there's a bunch of characters who'd be cool to see imo! Most of the DA2 cast are the first that come to mind, for different reasons; Fenris has business in Tevinter plus the whole wolf theming, Merrill has her eluvian business going on (which i think could be super interesting if she was brought in), Isabela gets around a lot and could easily be included imo (i've seen a post abt the possibility of having her ship as a home base for the next protag and i would love that so much), Anders is more unlikely i suppose but having him and Justice turn up again could be v cool. Sebastian and Aveline have less reason to be there probably but depending on how they stood with Hawke and the Inquisition they could turn up. And we already know Varric is gonna be there xd
Otherwise, i'd love to see Connor or Feynriel again! Especially Feynriel, him being a dreamer and all, and with him possibly having gone to Tevinter to study magic. And Valta!! For obvious Dwarf Lore related reasons. And/Or whoever was named Orzammar's king in DAO! I wanna know how Orzammar is doing pretty please...
Would be nice to maybe see Bull and his chargers again, or Sera! Because i love them and bc they are mercs and a red jenny respectively which means they Get Involved In Stuff and if they dont at least get a cameo i am going to be very sad.
... that got longer than expected lmaoo, sorry x'D
52. Favorite non-Player Character headcanons?
Ouhh there's so so many good headcanons...... but ofc when i need them i can't think of any |'D

Tumblr media
Margot Mudbug
game: the ender scrolls v: skyrim
race + class: orc, warrior (werewolf)
pronouns + sexuality: she/they, pansexual
romance: marcina (oc below)
appearance: margot looks how they do in game, except taller, more muscular and they have a messy mullet.
personality: warm and loyal, margot wil do anything to help anyone (sometimes when they dont deserve it). she has a tendency to put other people's needs before their own, and can also be seen as too needy. although not great with criticisms, margot is great with people and will be there for anyone - especially those society has turned their back on.
Tumblr media
Marcina Sailam
game: the ender scrolls v: skyrim
race + class: dark elf, rogue + magic user (vampire)
pronouns + sexuality: they/them, bisexual
romance: margot (oc above)
appearance: marcina looks the same as they do in game, except their hair is very long and sraggly and their vampire teeth are slightly more prominent.
personality: being so quick-witted and willing to share their negative opinions on anything, marcina is difficult to get along with. they can be insensitive and arguementative and are prone to lying. but in truth they are just lost soul trying to find their place in the world, and trying to get people to see them as more than they think they are.
if you would like to know more about my dragon age ocs please have a look at the carrd i made about them! :)

Dragon Age development insights and highlights from Bioware: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development
Some really tasty factoids here.
Tumblr media
Cut for length.
Dragon Age: Origins
The continent of Thedas was at one point going to be named Pelledia, a name initially floated by James Ohlen
“Qunari” was a temporary name that ended up unintentionally sticking, much like “Thedas”
Mary Kirby wrote the Landsmeet. To this day, nobody understands how it works, except possibly her. If she’s “really really drunk” she can explain how it works. There’s as many words in it as Sten’s entire conversations put together
Concept art for Thedosian art - as in in-world art - draws heavily on Renaissance-era portraiture, the Art Nouveau movement, religious styles and media like stained glass, and favorite pieces from the golden age of illustrations in the early 20th century
Andrastianism in-world (art-wise) is depicted in wildly different methods depending on who in-world made the art in question. “One religion, 3 different lenses”. There’s the Chantry take, the Orlesian take and the Fereldan take; each with its own different interpretations, different mediums and different stories
The stained glass images were drawn by Nick Thornborrow for DAI, to decorate religious spaces in that game “and beyond”
irl Viking art influenced Ferelden
Greek and Italian art influenced Orlais
The book also had other insights into and anecdotes from the development of DAO, but I’ve transcribed them recently as they’re essentially the stories DG has recently been relating on the awesome Summerfall Studios DAO playthrough Twitch streams. (On those streams he provides dev commentary while Liam Esler plays through DA. The ones with DG are currently once every two weeks. Check them out! Here’s a calendar where you can check when the next one is) Instead of repeating myself I’ll just provide the link to the first transcript. From there you can navigate to the subsequent parts. Note these streams are ongoing. At this point I will also point you to a related post which is cliff notes of the Dragon Age chapter in Jason Schreier’s book Blood Sweat and Pixels.
Dragon Age II
DAO had the longest development period in BioWare history. In contrast DA2 had the shortest
Initially DA2 was going to be an expansion to DAO. A few months in EA said “Yeah, expansions like these don’t sell very well, so let’s make it a sequel.” So it suddenly became DA2 and they had to make it even bigger, although they still only had 1.5 years of time in which to do this
Production of DA2 officially lasted only 9 months, and at the time the team was still supporting live content for DAO! They finished development that January after the design team crunched all the way through the holiday period that year. Then it went to cert 9 times
The limited time they had is why the story takes place mostly in and around 1 city, and over 7 years (so it was temporal, rather than over physical distance, because a more expansive world would have taken more irl time to make)
They had no time to review even the main plot. Mike Laidlaw pitched the idea of 3 stories taking place at different points in the PC’s life, tied together by Varric’s recollections of events. DG rolled with this and made 1 presentation on the idea. This presentation was then approved and off they went
As they were writing DG realized that there was going to be no oversight and that everything was going to be a ‘first draft’. “Because nobody had time.” He sat down with the writers and said “Look, here’s the conditions we’re working under. A lot of what we’re putting out is gonna be raw. We’re not going to get the editing we need. We’re not going to get the kind of iteration we need. So I’m going to trust you all to do your best work.”
Looking back, DG has mixed feelings on DA2. “A lot of corners were cut. The public perception was that it was smaller than DAO. That’s a sin on its own.”
Despite this he thinks DA2 has some of the best writing in the series, especially character-wise. The DA2 chars are his favorite
The pace with which production progressed may in some ways have helped. “When we do a lot of revision, we often file away [as in buff off] some of the good writing as well. Somehow DA2′s whirlwind process resulted in some really good writing”
The pace meant chars landed on the writers in various stages of completion. For example Isabela was fairly defined due to appearing in DAO. In contrast Varric at the start was just that single piece of widely-shown concept art
Varric was conceived as a storyteller not a fighter. His skills are talking and bullshitting. Hence the question became, so what does this guy do in combat? The direction was to make him as different as possible to Oghren, so not a warrior. He couldn’t be a dual-wielding rogue in order to differentiate him from Bela. But you can’t really picture this guy with a bow. “For a dwarf, it would probably be a crossbow. We didn’t have crossbows, or we only had crossbows for the darkspawn. And they were part of the models. We didn’t have a separate crossbow that was equip-able by the chars. They had to like, crop one off a darkspawn and remodel it. And that became Bianca” (quote: Mary Kirby)
“Dwarven mages are exceedingly rare.” [???]
If DAO was a classic fantasy painting, DA2 was a screenshot from a Kurosawa film or a northern Renaissance painting. (Here Matt Rhodes was commenting on art style)
John Epler: “In any one of our games, there’s a 95% chance that if you turn the camera away from what it’s looking at, you’ll see all kinds of janky stuff. The moment we know the camera is no longer facing someone, we no longer care what happens to them. We will teleport people around. We will jump people around. We will literally have someone walk off screen and then we will shift them 1000 meters down, because we’re fixing some bug.” John also talked about this camera stuff in a recent charity Twitch stream for Gamers For Groceries. There’s a writeup of that stream here
Designing Kirkwall pushed concept artists to the limits of visual storytelling, because it has a long history that they wanted to be present. It was once the hub of Tevinter’s slave empire, so it needed to look brutal and harsh, but it also then needed to feel reclaimed, evolved, and with elements of contemporary Free Marches culture
The initial plan was for DA titles to be distinguished by subtitles not numbers, so that each experience could stand on its own rather than feel like a sequel or continuation. (My note: New PCs in each entry make sense then when you consider this and other factoids we know like how DA is the story of the world not of any one PC). Later, DA2′s name was made DA2 in a bid to more clearly connect the game to its predecessor. For DAI they returned to the original naming convention. (My note: so I’d reckon they’d be continuing the subtitle naming convention for DA4)
DA2 was initially code-named “Nug Storm”, strictly internally
The Cancelled DA2 Expansion - Exalted March
This was a precursor to DAI
It was meant to bridge the gap between DA2 and DAI
It focused on the fallout from Kirkwall’s explosion, with Cory serving as the villain
Meredith’s red lyrium statue was basically going to infest Kirkwall and it would end up [with what would end up] the red templars taking over Kirkwall and essentially being Cory’s army
To stop him Hawke would have recruited various factions, including Bela’s Felicisima Armada and the Qunari at Estwatch, forcing Hawke to split loyalties and risk relationships in the process
It was meant to bring DA2′s story to an end and end in Varric’s death. DG was very happy with this because all of DA2 is Varric’s tale. The expansion was supposed to start at the moment Cassandra’s interrogation of him ended in the present. “And we finished off the story with Varric having this heroic death.” It tied things up and would have broken many fan hearts, something BioWare writers notoriously enjoy. But between a transition to the new Frostbite engine and the scope of DAI, the decision was made to cancel EM, work any hard-to-lose concepts into DAI, and in the process save Varric’s life. DG has talked about the Varric dying thing before
Concept art for EM explored new areas previously not depicted in the DA universe, with costumes that reflected next steps for familiar chars. Varric was going to war, what would he have worn? With Anders, if he survived DA2, the plan was to present a redeemed Warden
A char that vaguely resembled Sera in DAI was first concepted for EM. This fact was mentioned near this concept art (see the female elf) and this concept art of Bethany with the blond bob
The writers sketched out plans to end it with Hawke having the option to marry their LI. This included alternate ceremonies for party members like Bethany and Sebastian if the player opted not to wed. There was even a wedding dress made for Hawke. This asset made it into DAI (Sera and Cullen’s weddings in Trespasser). The dress can also be seen in DAI during an ambient NPC wedding after completing a chain of war table missions
The destruction of a Chantry was explored in concept art as it might have happened in EM. This idea ended up carrying over to the beginning of DAI. (My note: Lol, the idea that DA2 could have had 2 Chantries being destroyed in it 😆)
World of Thedas
Sheryl Chee and Mary Kirby started with “a disgusting little dish called fluffy mackerel pudding”. In the middle of DAO’s busy dev period one of them (they can’t remember who) found a recipe online for this, scanned in from a 70s cookbook. “I don’t understand why it was fluffy. Why would you want fluffy mackerel pudding?” MK says. “We loved it so much we included it in a DAO codex.”
This led them to create more food for Thedas, full recipes included, like a Fereldan turnip and barley stew from MK and SC’s Starkhaven fish and egg pie. The fish pie became Sebastian’s favorite. “To me it made sense for it to be fish pie because a lot of the Free Marches are on the coast”, SC says, “It was something that was popular in medieval times, so I thought, let’s make a fish pie! I looked at medieval recipes and I concocted a fish pie which I fed to my partner, and he was like ‘This is not terrible’”
For WoT the whole studio was asked to contribute family recipes which might have a place in Thedas. SC adapted these to fit in one Thedosian culture or another, including a beloved banana bread that localization producer Melanie Fleming would regularly bake to keep the DA team motivated. “Melanie’s banana bread got us through Inquisition”
DAI
It says part of DAI takes place in or near the border with Nevarra [???]
This game was aimed to be bigger than DA2 and even DAO in every conceivable way
The first hour had to do a lot of heavy lifting, tying together the events of DAO and DA2 while introducing a new PC, new followers etc in the aftermath of the big attack. DG rewrote it 7 times then Lukas Kristjanson did 2 more passes
DG: “Our problem is always that our endings are so important, but we leave them to last, when we have no time. I kept pushing on DAI: ‘Can we work on the ending now? Can we work on the ending now? Can we do it early on?’ Because I knew exactly what it was going to be. But despite the fact that it kept getting scheduled, whenever the schedule started falling behind, it kept getting pushed back... so, of course, it got left til last again.”
“The reveal of the story’s real antagonist, Solas, a follower until the end, when he betrayed the player”. “Solas’ story remains a main thread in Inquisition’s long-awaited follow-up” [these aren’t DG quotes, just bits of general text]
Over the course of development they had 8 full-time writers and 4 editors working on it. Other writers joined later to help wrangle what ended up being close to 1 million words of dialogue and unspoken text. While many teams moved to a more open concept style of work for DAI, the writers remained tucked away in their own room, a choice DG says was necessary, given how much they talked. All the talking had a purpose ofc as if someone hit a bump or wall in their writing they would open the problem up to the room
As writing on a project like DAI progresses, the writers grow punchier and weirder things make it into the game. This is especially the case towards the end of a project (they get tired, burned out)
Banter and codexes require less ‘buy-in’ (DG has talked about this concept a few times on the Twitch streams) from other designers. DG liked to leave banter for last as a reward because it was fun. Banter begins as lists of topics for 2 followers to discuss. These may progress over time or be one off exchanges. One banter script can balloon to well over 10k words. “The banter was always huge because we were always like, laughing, and really at that point, our fields of fucks were rather barren, so we would just do whatever”
The bog unicorn happened pretty much by accident. It was designed by Matt Rhodes and was one of his fav things to design. They needed horse variations and he had already designed an undead variant which was a bog mummy [bog body]. irl these are preserved in a much different way to traditional mummies. When someone dies in a bog their skin turns black and raisin-like. The examples we know of tend to have bright red hair for whatever reason. It’s a very striking look and MR wanted to do a horse version of this as he thought it’d be neat. 5 mins before the review meeting for it he had a big ‘Aha!’ moment, quickly looked up a rusty old Viking sword, and photoshopped it through its skull like that was how it died. “And I was like, ‘I just made a unicorn. Alright, in it goes!’” It got approved. “So we built the thing. It fit. It told a little story”
With the irl Inquisition longsword, one of the objects they tested its cleaving ability on was a plush version of Leliana’s nug Schmooples
The concept art team explored a wide variety of visuals for the Inquisitor’s signature mark. It needed to look powerful and raw but couldn’t look like a horrific wound. In some cases, as cool as the idea looked on paper, they just weren’t technically feasible, especially as they had to be able to fit on any number of different bodies
Bug report: “Endlessly spawning mounts! At one point during development, Inquisitors could summon a new horse every time they whistled, allowing them to amass a near infinite number of eager steeds that faithfully followed them across Thedas. “You could go charging across levels and they’d all gallop behind you,” Jen Cheverie says, “It was beautiful.” Trotting into town became an epic horse siege as a tidal wave of mounts enveloped the streets. Jen called it her Army of Ponies”
The giants came from DA Week, an internal period when devs can pursue different individual creative projects that in some way benefit DA. They also had a board game from one of these that they were going to put in but they didn’t have time. It’s referenced though. It was dwarven chess
Josie’s outfit is made of gold silk and patterned velvet, with leather at her waist. She carries “an ornate ledger” and she has “an ornamented collar sitting around her neck, finished by a brilliant red ruby, like a drop of Antivan wine in a sunbeam”
Iron Bull’s armor is leather. His loose pantaloons and leather boots give him agility to charge
On DAI in particular, concept artists took special care to make sure costumes would be realistic, at least in a practical ‘this obeys the laws of physics and textiles’ sense. “While on Inquisition, we thought about cosplay from a concept art perspective. Given how incredible a lot of [cosplays] are, I now am not worried about them. In fact in some cases in the future I want to throw them curveballs like, ‘All right, you clever bastards. Let’s see if you can do this!’”
2 geese that nested on the office building and had chicks were named Ganders and Arishonk (it wasn’t known who was the mom or the dad). Other possible names were Carver Honke, Bethany Honke, Urdnot Pecks, Quackwall, Cassandra Pentagoose, the Iron Bill, Shepbird, Garroose, Admiral Quackett, Scout Honking, HChick-47 and Darth Malgoose
Bug report: “The surprising adventures of Ser Noodles!” DAI was the first time the series had a mount feature, meaning this had a lot of bugs. A lot of the teams’ favorite bugs were to do with the mounts. There was a period of time where the Inquisitor’s horse seemed to lose all bone and muscle in its legs. They had a week or so where all quadruped legs were broken. It was a bit noticeable in things like nugs and other small beasties but the horse was insanely obvious. “The first time we summoned the horse [for this] and started running around, the entire QA exploration room just exploded with laughter.” Its legs flapped around like cooked fettucine, leading testers to lovingly nickname it Ser Noodles. At galloping speeds the legs almost looked like helicopter blades, especially when footage was set to classic pieces such as Wagner’s Flight of the Valkyries
For DAI the artists were asked questions like “What would Morrigan wear to a formal ball? Can Cassandra pull off a jaunty hat?”
On DAI storyboarding became the norm. John Epler: “Cinematic design for the longest time was the Wild West. It was ‘here’s a bunch of content, now do it however you want’, which resulted in some successes and some failures.” Storyboarding gave designers a consistent visual blueprint based on ideas from designers, writers and concept artists
Quote from a storyboard by Nick Thornborrow (the Inquisitor going into the party at the end of basegame sequence): “Until Corypheus revealed himself they could not see the single hand behind the chaos. A magister and a darkspawn combined. The ultimate evil. So evil. Eviler than puppy-killers and egg farts combined.”
A general note on concept art:
In the early stages of any project, before the concept artists are aware of any writing, they like to just draw what they think cool story moments could be. It’s not unusual for the team to then be inspired by these and fold them into the game as the project progresses

>be me >today i will make a height chart for my da protags and their love interests >okay maybe ill make it an outfit and color reference too >well i dont want it to be too boring to look at >draw this
so here we are with all my sweet little ladies and their lis :]!!! from left to right: cassie cousland, marian hawke and anders, aoife lavellan and cullen, rhiannon tabris and alistair, cecelia hawke and fenris, melly cadash and sera
LOTS of extra stuff under the cut!!!
lovely da protag templates are from marian churchland!
Tumblr media
dear sweet cassie, partaker in the forbidden non-romantic alistair marriage that the game never knows how to acknowledge. very much the definition of gaslight gatekeep girlboss. and by that i mean a genuinely bad person in the sense that she tends to toy with peoples feelings. had an extremely public affair with anders during the events of awakening. It takes a good 5 years for her and alistairs marriage to be anything even approaching functional. extremely savvy, ambitious, and charismatic; a great politician and an extremely effective ruler. morrigan is her closest friend in the world (yes i know i never had her in my party. thats because im bad at video games and needed a healer.) and they’re like sisters.
Tumblr media
my default hawke. 6′2, buff as shit, slept her way through half of her friends before finally settling with anders. she’s a blood mage and her first use of blood magic was during a particularly nasty fight where she got speared through the stomach. she carves herself up for mana; anders puts her back together. does things in anger and impulse and then regrets them (see: giving isabela to the arishok, never reconciling with carver after leandras death). mean if you dont know her, intensely protective if you do, but takes betrayal extremely poorly. constantly taking action, even if it doesn’t turn out very well; she is physically incapable of being a bystander. her and anders are my fave da couple ever... ask me about my post da2 hcs <3 theyre happy and have a daughter named bethany :] she punched cullen in the mouth at the end of da2 so hard that it left that scar.
Tumblr media
literally is there anything like your first dai playthrough being an elf. aoife is... remarkably well realized in my brain for a character who’s life began as my friend chanting “goth elf! goth elf! goth elf!” over my shoulder while i was in character creator. very affable and friendly, but extremely politically adept with a capability for subterfuge that even she isn’t fully comfortable with. huge history buff. solas was like a big brother to her and her faith was extremely important to her so trespasser was crushing. very curious, especially about magic; definitely learned some blood magic from hawke after hearing dorian and solas talk about it. dorian is her closest platonic friend, but cullen is her rock. as in he is literally so normal compared to everything else that happens to her and she loves him for it. also her and hawke are friends and a scenario that lives rent free in my mind is them hanging out while anders and cullen attempt to kill each other in increasingly looney toons-esque ways in the background. she turned out remarkably pretty for an inquisitor... look at her
Tumblr media
....and that’s it for my canon timeline. onto the secondary timeline!

DEAR SWEET RHIANNON. 4′8 powerhouse with a sword longer than she is tall. i first played rhiannon with a friend who was very new to rpgs and she picked all of the mean dialogue options because she thought they were funny, which led to me discovering that alistair reacts oddly and kind of hilariously well to being made fun of by a female warden pre-duncan dying. rhiannon is fun in that she literally gives no shits about conflict avoidance; if you start something with her, she’ll see it through. disliked alistair on principle and poked fun at him when they first met, but after the events at ostagar bonded to him extremely strongly. very close to him pretty much at the exclusion of all her other companions. extremely strong willed, laughs loud and smiles wide, no real concept of subterfuge except for when she’s hiding her own pain, generally goes in the path of least resistance if it gets to her goal faster. #1 arl eamon hater. she looks pretty different when i draw her compared to how she looked ingame but this screenshot of her doing the like. dead deer tinder profile pic pose is extremely powerful

cecelia is the truest tragic hawke that i’ve played (rip cecelia. you had the misfortune to exist in the warden alistair timeline). lost carver, lost bethany in the deep roads, lost her mother, believes that fenris has left her. act 2; a real rough ride for cecelia. aside from all the tragedy, she’s tough as nails, direct, and extremely blunt. very cautious in combat, even more so since she lost both carver and bethany. plans upon plans upon plans and prefers to strike unseen and unheard from the shadows. DEEPLY in love with fenris, best friends with isabela and merrill. aware of anders affection for her and keeps some distance for both their sakes; after the chantry explosion she helps him fake his own death on the condition that she never sees him again. when terrible things are not constantly happening she has a very dry wit, part of the reason her and fenris get along so well. too many bad things happen to her for someone with such nice thighs and such a stylish cape. her save file had some weird bugs with companion like.... staring???? in weird directions???

the absolute energy here. she also turned out very pretty in inquisition.

melly is easily my most powerful da oc. not in terms of in-universe power (although sword and board reaver is like. unkillable.) but in the sense that she is a catholic (read: andrastian) mid-40′s widowed mobster milf. she’s very close to cassandra and vivienne and consults them for advice before she goes to her actual advisors. even she was surprised by her relationship with sera; she finds sera’s unique sense of humor very charming and really likes pulling silly pranks with her as a reprieve from her everyday life. when she’s not with sera, she tends to be very pragmatic and logical when making decisions for the inquisition and has a very defined sense of purpose. she takes her role as both as the inquisitor and the herald of andraste very seriously. she’s very warm and soothing to be around during off hours and random inquisition members will often drift towards her for life advice. first draft of her and sera in this drawing had sera wearing this

Dragon Age: Inquisition, day 5.
Back to Haven to make the rounds before I do In Your Heart Shall Burn.
I made Iron Bull put a shirt on. I’m so sorry, Bull. I can make you a fancy Shokra-taar later once I’ve got good materials for it, if you want to have your nipples out.
Cole, did you just try to wingman for Cullen? Bless.
Got Deft Hands, Fine Tools. WHOOOOOO.
Oh, there you are, babies. Thank you for finally showing up. This is way more deepstalkers and spiders than Anchoret really wanted to be soloing.
...of course it’s Blackwall who makes the “do elves just call it “root””  joke. Really, Blackwall, right in front of the (very Dalish) Herald?
Right, I shouldn’t put this off anymore, let’s get on with In Your Heart Shall Burn.
Putting Cassandra, Varric, and Vivienne in the party, because...it seems like a good idea at the time, I guess?
Look, I can’t not smile at the post-Breach-closing celebration scene.
...are Cassandra’s pants always that color, or is it the armor I gave her? Those brown and yellow stripes are...rather bold.
Oh, hello there, Dorian. It’s good to see you. This is certainly a very Dorian introduction.
Well, I didn’t manage to save all the townspeople, but I got closer than usual!
Aww, Cullen, Dorian, you’ll like each other before too long, you’ll see.
Fiona? Oh no. :(
Hello again, Corypheus. You’re very stretchy.
YEET
Sn*w. :/ (It’s a four-letter word, you know.)
The chorale scene is a weird one—I can’t not smile, but I also have to avert my eyes for most of it. Kind of like the romance cutscenes in DAO, now that I think about it. Anyway, that’s a good match for the ambivalent feelings Anchoret is having about this whole business.
Huh, Solas says some things about the orb to a Lavellan.
The investiture scene is so much more emotional with an Inquisitor who’s genuinely friends with Cassandra. (I might’ve thought romancing Cullen would add something to it, but no, it’s Cassandra who’s really the motive force here.)
Thanks for the teleport into the bedroom, Solas, now let’s get our girl out of the beige pajamas. And into another color of pajamas, at the very least...nah, I think the white and red leathers will do for this one.
My first instinct was to hand Denam over to the Templars, but Anchoret has felt rather...conscripty so far. Conscription it is!
...everyone disliked that. Except for Blackwall, because of course he’d approve.
Well, I found Vivienne’s balcony. We’ll see how well I remember the way there once Vivienne is actually there to occupy it.
Anchoret is having some complicated feelings about Dorian, who in her eyes is constantly ping-ponging between genuine goodness and saying some serious Cringe Dimension shit.
Right, time to make the rounds and get everyone’s cut scenes so they move off to their regular stations and I can actually find them again.
Blackwall, dear, please take Anchoret’s admonishment to not get yourself killed in the spirit it was intended. You’re...friendly acquaintances, at least. She’d really rather you not.
It really is extremely Blackwall to meet “don’t die” with disapproval, though.
Right, there’s Varric. And it’s time to put my fingers to some sliders.
I refuse to take screenshots of what Taran and Pavey looked like in this game. I refuse. I don’t want to remember. But I’ve got multiple screenshots of Gabran to reference, and goddammit, I’m going to make him look at least slightly like himself.
*sigh* This’ll have to do. Close-ish, though the right hair wasn’t available, and I can’t quite get some of the facial angles the way I want them.
...he still looks wrong, especially with all the scowling he’s doing. I give up.
OK, Hawke’s Varric impression is pretty great.
...oh no. Poor Isabela. I’m going to make her very sad, aren’t I.
I know I was saying I needed to go hunting to get some hides, but how many goddamn bears am I going to encounter on this one sweep through the Hinterlands?
Anyway. I should be asleep, so I’ll head somewhere more interesting tomorrow.

Because @simper-fi asked for screenshots from my fenders WIP, and since it’s 90k words and counting, I really wanted to share. Taken from chapter 5! This is all @juicywizards fault.
Image description under the cut!
[ID: Three screenshots from a google doc. The text reads: “In a rare display of exhaustion, Fenris has stabbed his greatsword into the ground and is leaning on it, breathing heavily. Anders quickens his pace towards them. Hawke’s mabari comes barking up to Fenris’ side, and Anders catches a rare private smile tilt Fenris’ lips for a moment as he scratches the ugly thing’s massive head. It whines and wags its tail, and Anders makes his feet fall a little heavier. The smile falls from Fenris’ face, and Anders tries to ignore what that does to his heart.
“Need any healing?” He asks, wiggling his fingers. Fenris’ eyes narrow, giving the mana around his hands a critical gaze. It had taken some time for Anders to realise the elf wasn’t glaring at him because of the magic in itself: he was assessing for himself how much of Anders’ energy he had left to spare. Anders still wasn’t quite sure he believed it, but he poured a little extra energy into the display anyway.
After a moment, Fenris nods. “Healing would be appreciated.” Anders doesn’t need him to ask twice, he steps forward, falling into the meditative task of taking inventory of Fenris’ injuries and healing what he can. Whilst he works, Fenris glances up at Hawke and Isabela, who have begun the grisly task of butchering their kill. Satisfied their attention is diverted, Fenris looks back to Anders. “Do you have any of your - ah - the potions for my -,” he hesitates, flushing, and Anders grins at him whilst he coaxes a rib into knitting back together beneath his fingers.
“Oh! You mean Golddust.”
Fenris snorts, and Anders doesn’t try to fight the smile that rises when he does so. He is a very handsome man when he smiles, and Anders refuses to pretend that he doesn’t like it. “I’m not calling it that.” Anders thinks anyone who didn’t know the elf better, himself included up until the last few weeks, would read his words as blunt at best. He can hear the humour in them now, and he understands a little better what Hawke had meant every time she’d asked them to try and listen to the man in front of him, instead of judging him for his quick temper.
Anders cocks his hip, and Fenris raises his eyebrows. “Third pouch on the left.”
Fenris’ mouth curls into a very small smile. “You cannot remove them yourself?”
Anders doesn’t stop his work, moving to Fenris’ other side and wondering how far he’d get by insisting the man got marginally better armour if he insisted on breaking this many ribs every time they left the city. “I could, but that would increase the length of time your ribs are broken. I know we’re not exactly friends, but I choose to believe that standing a little closer to me is marginally preferable to that.”
Fenris hums, deftly unhooking the pouch at his belt (and isn’t that a promising line of thought: Fenris’ deft fingers doing things to his belt) popping open a bottle and drinking it. Anders tries very hard not to be distracted by the long line of his throat as he swallows. Fenris finishes, and sighs. The potion is fast-acting but not immediate, and now Anders is looking for it, he can see the tension of pain in the stiffness of his body, the careful way he holds himself. Once he’s drunk, Fenris rolls the stem of the bottle between his fingers. “We could be.” He says, softly.
Anders frowns a little, moving to stand behind him and carefully examining his back. “What?”
Fenris’ hand curls around the bottle, and he turns to look over his shoulder at Anders. His eyes are mossy and green, and his hair is white as the moon on a clear night. “We could be friends.” He pauses, and looks down and away. Anders doesn’t quite realise that he’s stopped moving. It doesn’t seem to matter. Fenris clears his throat. “I would like it, if we were.”
Anders lets out a long, deep breath, and looks at the beautiful man in front of him.
“Yeah. Me too.” “ End ID]

Dragon Age Questions
I wasn’t tagged for this or anything, but I saw @danaduchy do this and thought it was neat, so I figured I’d do my own.
This feels like it has good potential as a tag meme, so I’ll go ahead and tag a few folks that I think might be interested. @rogue-lavellan @fallout-and-dragon-age @feeshies @dancing-flamingo-pirates @vulpestwinkulta @life-is-no-sugarlicking I’m not really sure how many of my mutuals are Dragon Age fans, but if anyone else wants to do this as well, have at it fellas!!! Go wild! (maybe tag me so I can see! I love hearing about others’ DA experiences!)
01) Favourite game of the series?
As much as I love DAO and DA2, I’m gonna have to say Inquisition, because it’s one of the few games where I put off the ending. I got to that Wicked Grace scene, and it just really dawned on me that I was near the end, I ended up putting the game down for about a week because I really wasn’t ready for it to be over. So yeah.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
A few of the blogs I followed for their Mass Effect content posted (and still post) about Dragon Age fairly often, so I’d heard of it and seen stuff about it, but for whatever reason I only really had a passing interest in wanting to play it. I guess I just thought I didn’t have time to get into something new?? My brother is also a Bioware fan, and he’d gotten some money for his birthday, so he ended up buying DAO, but he went to bed while it installed and my sleep schedule was messed up, so I ended up playing it before he did lol. whoops?
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
About 1.5 times? I’ve played through the whole trilogy once, I’ve started a second playthrough with some more mods, but I’m still on Origins for my 2nd playthrough. Any other “playthroughs” that I’ve started have basically just been replaying the intros of the games to get decent screenshots of some of my OCs and get a better idea of what they’ll look like.
04) Favourite race to play as?
I know this feels incredibly basic, but I like playing as an elf. I don’t really have a reason, I just kind of default to elves in just about any fantasy RPG. I also enjoyed playing as a Qunari (from what little I’ve played of that race so far) and I look forward to doing a proper run of Inquisition with my Adaar.
05) Favourite class?
Mage and Rogue. I haven’t really given Warrior a proper try yet, but it tends to feel a bit clunky.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
I try to play differently as much as I can. I’m trying to make a point of having my 2nd run be fairly opposite to my 1st playthrough. But I really just cannot commit to some of the more purely evil options.
Like, there’s strategic choices I’ve had my characters make, like killing Connor to save everyone in Redcliffe, or allowing the Anvil of The Void to be used because Ferelden needs as strong an army as possible, or conscripting the Templars for their expertise in combating weird fade stuff, but there’s still some choices that I absolutely refuse to make (siding with Meredith, or executing Alistair, for example).
So for those choices, I just have a “Worst Case Scenario” world state on the Dragon Age Keep website.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
DAO: I kind of played favourites with Leliana and Alistair, switching out Morrigan and Wynne. But I’ve gotten better being fair with my 2nd run, and I actually really like taking Sten this time around.
DAA: I’m actually pretty even with them all, but my favourite combos were Anders, Nathaniel, Oghren, and Justice, Sigrun, and Velanna. Next time, for lore reasons, I guess I should take Anders and Justice together as much as possible
DA2: Aveline, Merrill, and Isabela. The girl squad(tm). Also Varric.
DAI: I’d like to think I was fair with my party selections, but Solas was there a lot. So was Varric. And Iron Bull, love him.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
To be honest, for most of them, I went in blind and made up stuff about them later. It’s only been on my 2nd playthrough here that I’ve put some more forethought into my characters. (Like how my Amell has a good mind for strategy and risk assessment, or my Adaar is afraid of bears and was born on a boat crossing the Waking Sea). But in order from most to least developed I would say; Kieshara Tabris, Tamara Amell, Ilmanith Adaar, Valyhra Lavellan, Reuben Hawke, Juliana Hawke, Myrtle Trevelyan, Jerindeth Aeducan, Nellassan Andras, Mihya Nolahari.
09) Favourite romance?
DAO: Leliana. One of the few times I’ve legit crushed on a fictional character. Like, she compliments your hair, and she awkwardly flirts back and I just- wow, love her!
DA2: I really liked Isabela’s romance, but I accidentally locked myself out of it or the game glitched and I ended up with Merrill instead? Which is fine, she’s cute too! I’m gonna try romancing Fenris next, wish me luck!
DAI: Cullen. I just??? Love him?? Like, he’s attractive sure, but also relatable? I dunno, maybe I just bonded with his character over struggles with trauma/addiction/mental health. It feels like a story of growth and acceptance  and moving on, and I really love that about his romance tbh.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I’ve read a few of the comics at least (The ones with Alistair, Varric, and Isabela) I’ve also started on Magekiller, but I haven’t picked it up in a while because I’ve been preoccupied.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
Honestly, I really loved the Silent Grove series. Though it did bug me a bit that it relied so heavily on Alistair being the king of Ferelden. I guess I can always just handwave his involvement in the story as “official Grey Warden business” when placing it in the context of my 2nd world state.
12) Favourite DLCs?
DAO: I’d probably say Awakening. Shame they haven’t really expanded on a lot of the concepts it introduced though :/
DA2: Legacy, really gave me those ancient mystery/cosmic horror vibes.
DAI: The Descent was a fun one, kinda for the same reasons I enjoyed Legacy to be honest.
13) Things that annoy you.
Across all three games, there’s stuff like plot-holes and loose threads that have been left untied (so far), but as for other things that annoy me, I dislike most of game mechanics in Inquisition because they’re so different from the other games.
Instead of using the Tab key to highlight every point of interest in the area, you gotta use echolocation or whatever the hell that radar ping is. And unless you have 7.5 headphones, you’re left just guessing wildly where the thing is you’re searching for.
You can’t interact with anything that’s more than 3 feet away from your character, so you have to manually walk right up to things instead of just clicking on the door at the far end of a room and letting the AI handle it.
Gotta pull up the map every 5 seconds because they replaced the minimap with a compass, and I don’t know where the fuck I am going! Oh hey, the thing I need is right there, oh nope there’s a mountain in the way. Gee, would have been nice to know that ahead of time!!!
I cannot tell my save games apart at all, so when I have to go back a save or two, I have to make a wild guess based on date and time, how long it’s been played for, and the general area it gives you. No more custom thumbnail to show you exactly where you were, can’t name your saves. ugh.
Hopefully they fix some of these things in DA4, but hey at least I can finally make my character jump!
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden, it’s got that fantasy-grunge aesthetic that I love; grey stones, browns and green everywhere but not in a lush-jungle way, colder weather, fur cloaks and steel. It’s like Skyrim, with less vikings (well, except for the Avvar tribes).
I like Orlais’ aesthetic too, with the ridiculously fancy decor everywhere, but living there would basically just be like Game Of Thrones; Thedas Edition. Trust nobody, anyone and everyone could be ready to kill you if you get in their way.
15) Templars or mages?
Personally? Mages. I think they deserve to be free. I should clarify; free from towers and cages, not free from responsibility. After all, their abilities can potentially become dangerous if not treated with healthy caution and care.
The only game I can really see myself siding with the Templars intentionally is in Inquisition, and even then I still plan to disband them. I accidentally sided with the Templars in my first run of Origins because I couldn’t figure out the Litany of Adralla and the mages died as a result :(
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
I feel like most of them definitely co-exist in the same universe. However, I view the different playthroughs as alternate timelines, with my 1st playthrough being my “canon” timeline. That being said, I’m still working out the placement and fates of my other OCs in the different timelines though.
The only characters that I’m fairly sure don’t/couldn’t exist in the same universe are my Hawke’s because they’re from different ethnic backgrounds, with Juliana being of Antivan heritage, and Reuben has some Rivaini blood in him.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
For my first playthrough, as a dumb nerd joke, I named the dog “Dogmeat”. I changed it later to Pariel, but Kieshara calls him “Parry”. She also had the Ranger spec, and she named those animals too: Tilly was the spider, Vessa was the wolf, and the bear’s name was Oursin (Leliana might have helped with that last one when asked what the French Orlesian word for bear was. Kieshara thought it was funny). They didn’t respond to the names, because they weren’t really “pets” per se, but it helped Kieshara to organize them in her head.
Tamara named the dog Marco. There’s no interesting story there, she just liked the name.
The Hawke’s family dog is either Gaius (for Juliana) or Chester (for Reuben)
Valyhra had a horse named Ilrian, who sadly perished during the Assault on Haven. She later received a Hart as a gift from her Clan and the City of Wycome as thanks for the Inquisition’s aid, she named her Melothra. And of course, there’s Pepper, the mabari hound that she and Cullen adopted together.
Ilmanith has a Mountain Dracolisk that she named Ozurak. Overall, she’s never been especially fond of animals, but she’s unusually protective towards her Dracolisk.
18) Have you installed any mods?
A lot honestly. Mostly cosmetic mods, like hair or improved textures. As well as a few gameplay ones (like one that lets you bring the dog as a 5th member of the party in DAO, or another one that makes the combat not slow as hell also for DAO). Also, I use a mod that lets you complete the war table missions instantly, thank the maker. I can’t remember them all right now, maybe I’ll make a list later.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Kieshara wasn’t too keen on the idea. To start with, she absolutely did not trust Duncan when he arrived. Having grown up uneducated in an isolated community, she’d never really heard of the Grey Wardens. All she knew was that humans who showed up in the Alienage wearing armour and carrying weapons had bad intentions more often than not. She’d seen templars, city guards, mercenaries, it rarely ended well. She eventually warmed to the idea during the week-long journey from Denerim to Ostagar, as Duncan revealed what little information he could, putting Kieshara through a brief crash course of the Grey Warden’s history.
For Tamara, it was almost too good to be true. Life in the Circle Tower was a bit dull at best, and life-threatening at worst. So Tamara often found her escape in the many books that could be found in the tower’s library, especially historical documents and non-fiction. She enjoyed the accounts of the Grey Wardens most, thinking them to be a very brave organization to face something as menacing sounding as the darkspawn. So a chance to leave Kinloch Hold and join the ranks of the heroes she’d read about? It was a dream come true. Well, almost, except for the whole childhood friend becoming a blood mage apostate part.
There was nothing about Jerindeth’s situation that was ideal, with Trian dead, and Bhelen using Jerindeth as a scapegoat, and being tossed to the Deep Roads and left at the mercy of the darkspawn or whatever horrors awaited them there. But they had a grudging respect for the Grey Wardens, and it was either follow Duncan or die in the Deep Roads (imagine what a horrible shock it was to them when they eventually learned that most Grey Wardens ended up going to the Deep Roads to die anyhow)
20) Hawke’s personality?
For Juliana; She was mostly diplomatic, but she cracked jokes every now and then. Cover the pain and fear with humour I guess?
For Reuben; I imagine he’s gonna be mostly humorous/sarcastic, maybe gradually adding a bit more fire and rage when things start going to shit.
21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?
I barely even made armour for myself, honestly. I don’t tend to explore the crafting element much in games. At most, I think I crafted a magic-bladed sword, modified a few weapons and armour, but apart from that I only really used the tinting option, because some of the default colour schemes and materials are ugly as hell.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Kieshara has many regrets, but the one that haunts her most were the events at Kinloch Hold. She found the templars’ attitude towards the mages despicable, it reminded her of how herself and the other elves were treated back in Denerim. When Cullen told her to slay any remaining mages in the upper level of the tower, Kieshara refused his pleas. These were living people, she couldn’t simply kill them. But when she got up there, she froze. Facing abominations was one thing, but actually seeing them created before her eyes deeply disturbed her, and in her terror she couldn’t hear Wynne shouting at her to activate the Litany of Adralla. By the time she got her focus back, it was too late to save any of them.
Tamara doesn’t really have a whole lot that she would change. The Blight was growing fast. If she hadn’t made the tough calls, there might not have been a country left to save. Though, she does wish that maybe she had kept a closer eye on her friend Jowan. Ironically, she herself ended up turning to blood magic in the last few months of the 5th Blight, but she was never so careless as he had been, and she certainly would never have poisoned someone for money.
Juliana would have tried to save Bethany. Her and Bethany were usually in sync when it came to fighting and training together, but the one time Juliana slipped up, Bethany paid for it with her life. However, Juliana has no regrets about leaving Carver at home, even if he ended up joining the Templars.
Reuben’s biggest regret is that he didn’t keep a closer eye on those around him. Maybe if he’d kept a more keen eye, he could have foresaw some of the more horrible things before they’d happened; like all the betrayals and murders.
If Valyhra were to go back and change things, she would probably be just a bit more rude to people who turned out to not deserve her kindness. That’s really about it.
There really isn’t much that Ilmanith would change, except maybe she would have dropped the tough lady act for a bit and gotten medical attention, amputating her hand instead of letting the Anchor fester and grow for 2 years past its usefulness. It surely would have made matters easier on Dagna, only having to design a hand instead of a full arm replacement.
I can’t really think of anything for my other OCs right now.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
Not really? I usually try my best to take what canon gives me and work within that, maybe bending a few things here and there when needed. I have a few headcanons that are maybe a bit unconventional, but most of the time there’s nothing in canon that explicitly says I’m wrong lol
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone?
The only one of my Dragon Age OCs that I intentionally based on a person would be Myrtle Trevelyan. I based her appearance (and maybe some aspects of her personality??) off of this alt model that I’ve low-key been crushing on for the past month and a bit or so. Any other OCs likeness to real people is purely coincidental (which makes trying to do those Face Claim memes I was tagged in especially difficult)
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud. It was a fairly easy decision honestly, given that Juliana Hawke met him for a whole 30 seconds in DA2 while the Qunari were attacking the city and he just skipped out. My 2nd playthrough won’t be as easy of a choice though, because I’ll likely have to choose between Alistair or Reuben Hawke and I’m just...not sure. Thankfully that decision is a whole 2 games away at this point lol.
26) Favourite mount?
Anything goes, really. There aren’t actually a lot of maps where I liked using the mounts?? The only map where I used the mount fairly often was...one of the desert ones I think? I found most of the maps were perfectly fine to travel by foot, because they had a lot of ups and downs, things to climb, things to go explore inside of. Can’t really do a lot of that easily when you’re riding on a horse/elk/dracolisk/giant nug. So I usually just went without a mount unless I was feeling particularly impatient.

Note
For the DA asks: 4, 5, and 6... and all the numbers ending in 4. :D Pls.
I… got halfway through this one… went to switch tabs… and my computer lagged and made me close out of it. I lost it all.
Makers breath. Ellster, Imma need a hug after this.
What was your first Warden (gender/class/race/personality)?
Female human rogue. She wanted to be active and responsible, to be equal. She could grudgingly see Papa Cousland’s points but when she backed down it was only to find another way around him. Problems with authority, sees something and wants to get it done. You’ll never see moss on her but smiles were kind of rare too, probably why Alistair was so good with her.
What was your first Hawke like (gender/class/temperament)?
Female rogue. (Sensing a pattern?) Hawke baby is so sarcastic and salty as the Dead Sea. Varric floats by on her sarcasm going “Paint me like one of your Orlesian girls.” Sometimes she can’t turn it off. She has a definite underdog soft spot but despite being a rogue she HATES lying. Isabela and Anders are definitely on her shit list, which sucked for Hawke cause Isa was one of her best friends. They sorta worked it out, though Hawke never let her live it down, but we don’t talk about Anders. She hates mages, templars, AND the Chantry. Thinks the sane ones are few and far between but isn’t sure how to help them so long as the corrupted system remains in play.
First Inquisitor (gender/class/race/personality)?
(boots up DAI to check) Ah, a female human rogue. I don’t have a type at all. Aleese was a sweetheart who had to really rely on her friends to not get overwhelmed. I having a feeling there’s a small part that never really healed after seeing everything she had to and it gives her moments where she’s just so sad. Cassandra, Cullen, and Dorian were her closest friends. (Totally headcanon sleepovers with Dorian where he keeps ragging her fashion sense and a pillow fights ensues).
And now for the 4s.
14) Favorite DA:O party combo?
Morrigan, Wynne, Shale. Wreck face while Wynne keeps us all alive.
24) Favorite main-story quest from DA:I?
The one where Haven falls, to be honest. I love how you have to save everyone and its timed. I love love love the chance to sass Coryphenuts to his face despite the situation. Like… the brass big ones on this Inquisitor, man.
34) Least favorite character?
Sebastian. Love his voice. He’s also pretty. Can’t effing stand him as a person.
Wait. No.
Bianca. Give me one shot and she’s dead. So dead.
44) One romance you just can’t stand/doesn’t make sense/etc?
Sebastians. Chaste marriage? To that hot Hawke? Who is THAT in love with this trainwreck of a Chantry? *disgusted noise* And oh my Maker, the dialogue is so simpering it’s sickening. (It gives Carver mucho bonus props for me tho when he’s all “Well, whenever it’s over” no faith in Sebastard)
54) Fluffiest headcanon ever?
Whenever Hawke gets tired of Varric paying too much attention to his letters, she’ll overdramatically flop down into his lap and he’ll give her back and head rubs with this little smile cause he knows it makes her doze off and he just adores the content look on her face when she does. Then he’ll use her back as a table to finish his letters and roll over to snuggle once he’s done. (Really… anything Varric and Hawke is so fluffy it makes me tear up and my chest ache.)
64) Favorite achievement?
The achievement for defeating the Arishok. That fight is just the best. It’s so terrible it’s amazing, especially if you’re playing an archer.
74) Do you take screenshots in any DA games?
I would if I could figure out how. (Halp?)
84) Favorite cosplay(er)?
I don’t know many cosplayers… but I loved my personal Bilbo Baggins cosplay and my friend Erik has gone viral several times over with his Fallout 4 cosplay. He does the guy who tells you about settlements. (Can you tell I know nothing about Fallout?)
94) Have you ever made any DA-themed crafts (clothes, toys, etc)?
Nope. I’m still learning how to get into more artsy things tho cause I wanna start making my own cosplays. I might consider doing some as decent practise tho.

Thought I should do bios for all my Dragon Age OCs so here we go, here are the world state 1 people. Other world state people appearing at some point in future, probably.
Therlia Surana
Tumblr media
(Have a dollmaker, since I’m not quite happy with any of my Origins screenshots)
Therlia was my first Warden, from back when I knew very little about this game and how much angst she was in for. (Consequently she romanced Alistair, tried to do the Ultimate Sacrifice, and ended up having him die for her. I cried for like an hour.) She’s in an almost continuous state of despair because Thedas is awful, especially if you’re an elf and a mage.
Origins feels a lot like a prologue for her, after Alistair’s death, she left Ferelden to try to move on accompanied by Zevran. The two of them are best friends who travel round Thedas fighting templars, Crows, slavers, and generally fighting for freedom for their people. And have accidentally adopted five kids while doing so, Kas, Bri, Robin, Veena and Torano. They’re usually wanted by at least six organisations at any one time. While she romanced Alistair in-game, Therlia’s polyamorous and was upset about having to choose between him and Leliana. Post-Origins, she eventually ends up in relationships with Anders and Briala. She’s also had casual sex with various other characters.
I’d quite like to make her my protagonist again in DA4, although who knows if that would actually work yet. I’m theoretically in the process of replaying her in Origins, but got stuck because I don’t know whether to exhaust companion dialogue options in Lothering like in her first playthrough, or play better than that. This playthrough, I’m making her a mostly-primal spells Arcane Warrior. And she’s always learned blood magic in Awakening because fuck the Chantry.
Lucy Hawke (Hawke Amell?)
Tumblr media
My first Hawke, who doesn’t like the name Lucy, is only called that so I can differentiate her from my other Hawkes, and would much rather go by Hawke Amell. We’ll see if that happens. She’s a purple mage Hawke who tends to use humour to cover up any actual emotion, such as distress over her sister’s death. Or her brother’s death. Or her mother’s death.
She romances Isabela, although they have a mid-game break up after Night Terrors, due to Hawke taking out her fears of losing everyone she loves on Bela, and Bela sucking at emotions even more than Hawke. They get back together in Act 3, and become pirates together post-game. Lucy Hawke is very pro-mage, wholeheartedly supports Anders blowing up the Chantry, and would high five him for it if that was a thing in Thedas.
Kasiara Lavellan
Tumblr media
(Look the only have good quality screenshots of her in Trespasser, and in most of those she either has her mouth open or is wearing the nutcracker outfit. I’ve already posted the one good Trespasser screenshot of her here at least twice.)
Kas started off as one of the baby Crows Therlia and Zevran adopted, and because I liked her and wanted a chance to play her, I ended up making her my Inquisitor in that worldstate. As a Crow, Kas was forced to kill her only friend at the age of eight, and is still really messed up from that. She despises the Crows, although still enjoys using the assassin skill set, and daggers are her special interest.
Kas romances Sera, although her closest relationship is with Cole because wow I may have created Kas before knowing anything about Cole, but I could not have made a more perfect companion for her if I’d tried. They’re both stabby autistic cinnamon rolls who try to do the best for everyone, and believe in each other so much and help each other realise they’re good people, despite having killed innocents in their pasts. Plus Kas is primarily non verbal, and having a best friend who can read your thoughts and speaks the way you think is incredibly helpful. Sera and Cole end up getting on a lot better later in her game, because let them be friends damn it.
I kept her connection to Clan Lavellan by making her biological parents part of it, before they left to live in Antiva City. Kas enjoyed spending time with the clan because it helped her connect to her Dalish heritage. I accidentally got them killed in my Inquisition playthrough, and kept that because it fit with Kas’ story. The death of her clan is the point where she hands all Inquisition decisions over to Cole, on the reasoning that a spirit of compassion is more likely to know what’s best for everyone than she is, since she’s already made too many mistakes.
Veena
Tumblr media
(Just pretend that she has elf ears)
Veena was originally a perfectly innocent, if slightly abrasive, mage kid with a Fade obsession, who Therlia and Zev also adopted. After going to Skyhold to help her sister, she becomes best friends with Solas from nerding about the Fade with him. She totally fails to become friends with anyone else (except maybe sometimes Dorian), because she’s an asshole who thinks people who disagree with her are idiots. She believes elves as just better than humans, and mage elves are just better than non-mage elves, and the ancient elves were just better than modern day elves. Because of this last belief, she refuses to fight the Sentinels in What Pride Had Wrought, even when they’re attacking her, because they’re better than she is. And anyway that’s when I realised I’d accidentally created a villain.
Veena spends a lot of time feeling unwanted. She spends a lot of Inquisition wishing she’d been the one to get the anchor (Kas, meanwhile, hates having it) and being jealous of Cole being best friends with her two best friends. After Solas refuses to let her help tear down the Veil , she runs away into the Crossroads because she can’t face her family when she knows they’ll be trying to stop him and really not be okay with her wanting to help.
Veena drank from the Well of Sorrows and will probably eventually be able to persuade Solas to let her help, so I’m looking forward a lot to seeing what I can do with her in DA4. I’m hoping that she, Solas, Kas and Cole get a dramatic face-off where they all have to try not to hug each other because Friends. I’m worrying that I’m going to have to kill her.
Robin Surana
Tumblr media
Robin is another of Therlia and Zevran’s kids, and the only human of the group. Despite never having been a Circle mage, he joined the rebel mages because he’s a massive fan of Fiona. He’s a lot more easy going than the rest of his siblings, but is still happy to enthusiastically cheer on Fiona in fights with Vivienne. Robin occasionally accompanies Kas in the field, but generally stays at Skyhold with the rest of the rebel mages.
Bri Surana
Tumblr media
(Elf ears. Totally.)
Bri was adopted at the same time as Kas, and from the same cell of Crows. Xie later develops magic, and really enjoys being able to distract enemies with flashy spells, before sneaking round behind to backstab them. Bri’s incredibly cheerful and friendly and loves juggling dangerous objects, like fireballs or daggers or grenades of bees. Xie and Torano leave Thedas to look for a cure to the Calling, along with Therlia, Zevran and Shale.
Torano Arainai
Tumblr media
(I rly need  to make a better Torano sim, but until then, here’s a dollmaker.)
Torano’s the youngest of Therlia and Zev’s kids. (He’s only 18 in Trespasser he’s a BABY and I can’t deal with it.) He was a House Arainai Crow and idolises Zevran for how he managed to escape and is now working to bring them the Crows. Torano spends his time perfecting his Sexy Hair Toss and Brooding. He is definitely just Aloof and Mysterious and not just very shy, shut up.
