Day 30 (day 3,329)
Today was Haylan’s no good, very bad, terribly rotten day. Did I wake up? It’s hard to say, because I kept snoozing and was in a fog of fatigue all day. It lasted ALL DAY. Perhaps the physical and mental fatigue had finally caught up to me after 30 days on the road and a lot of hiking. Maybe my body just couldn’t handle whatever was going on inside and checked out. Added with not sleeping well, I was a hollow vessel all day, and seriously grumpy, to boot. This trip wouldn’t be at all possible if it weren’t for finally, after more than 2 years of searching, finding a prescription that works for me. I’ve received the news that I may not be able to be on it much longer though, so let’s hope the rest of the trip goes better than today.
Tumblr media
We had talked about going kayaking this morning since we had been hiking a lot, and my arms needed the work out, but we found out the only kayak/canoe rentals are at the lodge, which is a 4 mile hike in and out. I did not have that in me, and even if I did, we could hike it and they may not have any available for Husband to go without me. Plans had to change.
Tumblr media
We drove to Cascade Pass, a dirt road with access to snowy, alpine areas, and Hidden Falls Rd, a beautiful forest drive, but didn’t do anything at either trailhead since they were packed beyond imagination, and I wasn’t remotely capable of hiking today. I could barely walk to the bathroom. Glad we didn’t do the hike to the kayaks.
Tumblr media
I fell asleep a few times in the car. My head was splitting, and my neck could barely hold my head up. A thoracic pain that appears sometimes for hours, sometimes for months, nagged my back shoulder blade area. My kneecaps were sore, pains plagued my abdomen, my lower back’s arthritis was rearing its fiery head, and the cartilage loss in my feet felt like I was walking in shoes with nail insoles. Basically, this sucked.
Tumblr media
We sat at the visitor center awhile replanning out trip. I love that a place like North Cascades exists, but I felt very trapped here as someone who has a limited ability. We had the rest of the week here and I can’t kayak, I can’t hike, I’ve done the overlooks, lazed by a lake, and feel like I’m trapped in a paradise I can’t explore, and you know what they say, “Never tease a weasel or pull it by its tail”. Husband was gracious and understood, and it was his idea to switch gears and do something entirely different.
Tumblr media
At this visitor center, I earned my Junior Angler badge. I dedicate this badge to Josh P. Thanks for supporting my fundraiser and for always keeping open arms for us. You have always showed us aloha, and I will always remember spending time with your beautiful Siamese cat with the gold tooth, because who can forget a Siamese cat with a gold tooth?? I hope we will get to live on the same island again one day.
We had a fire that night, and not wanting to waste the day, we decided to make a rainforest/vintage dress photo shoot in the woods. Because, why not? It may have been hard physically, but it certainly made me feel better about my major FOMO (fear of missing out). So, Ladies and Gentlemen, I end this post with my favorite shots. Enjoy my vanity!

Something I haven’t heard anyone mention about episode 3 is that Clarisse was also eligible to be on the quest. Like, the director made a very conscious choice to show her and only her in the same frame as Annabeth when Percy chose her. If Percy wanted someone he thought he’d never be friends with, it would make sense for him to chose Clarisse. I think the only reason he chose Annabeth over her is because Clarisse seemed way more likely to betray him, friend or not. Like he thought he and Annabeth would never be friends, but he knew that it would be so much worse if Clarisse was there.

When you have a story idea that you really like but its premise has a problematic point that has, like, implications that are cruel and unfair to its target audience, and like this could easily be fixed by just changing one detail about the main character that wouldn't even affect the plot much like it could be done so easily BUT that one detail is really important to you because the MC is based entirely on personal experience and the horror iw based around some of your own childhood fears pertaining to the setting, so taking away this element of the character would make you not love the idea anymore and not want to write it BUT how fucking arrogant can you be to think it's more important that you get to creatively express yourself than it is to not hurt a child who reads it what kind of argument is that? if you don't want to write it without the implications then how about you just don't write it not like you finish anything anyways EXCEPT -hurt who???- motherfucker no one is going to read this no one is ever going to read this you think this is going to demoralize some hospitalized kid with cancer how would it it's not like it's going to be published no one reads your original work and no one cares but you so you might as well write it the way it means most to you AND LASTLY well if no one is ever going to read it why would I bother writing it

I have this idea for an au where Hades couldn't protect Nico and Bianca completely, so they got seriously injured when Zeus attacked them and their mother.
Since Hades couldn't let Zeus know that they were alive, he asked Hecate to heal them. She did her best, but healing isn't her expertise so both Nico and Bianca have been crippled in some way after the attack.
Nico is limp in one leg and he reacts badly to sudden light. (Thankfully Will gets that and always warns him if he's going to glow). Nico also experiences chronic pains and headaches, especially when the memories of his mother's death resurfaces. (It also doesn't help he's been mauled by werewolves. )
He uses a cane and sometimes, when he is in too much pain, he uses a wheelchair.
Bianca isn't as badly hurt as Nico, since she was right by Hades when the attack happened. After Hecate's healing, Bianca finds that she is deaf in one ear (burst eardrum from sound of thunder) and she can't fully stretch three of the fingers in her right hand.
She learns to use her left hand more, so she is ambidextrous. The lawyer (Fury) gets her a hearing aid when she starts school.
Bianca reacts very badly to loud sounds, which means that school is a nightmare. It was pretty hard for her to use a bow and arrow at first. A lot of other archers at camp and within the Hunters with similar problems helped her to better adjust herself so that she didn't experience so much pain while using her weapon.
Back when they were in school, Bianca had needed to get in a lot of arguments with school faculty so that they could accommodate Nico a little more. If Nico couldn't focus in class, because of pain or headaches, Bianca would ask his teachers about his work and then she'd teach to him at night in a quiet environment.
Now that they are at camp, Nico, Bianca and a lot of other disabled campers talk to Chiron about making the camp more accommodating to campers with disabilities. (It's a work in progress)

Before the pandemic, I could afford $433 rent + $200 phone + $100 credit card + $50 cat care + $50 gas + $300 food a month on 8 hours a week $12.50/hr.
Now I work 23 hrs a week and get $14.28/hr and can barely get groceries, gas, cat care, toiletries, other necessities, and I'm about to be, BY DEFINITION, HOMELESS...
But no, my store manager has to make enough to maintain enough ancreage for a god damned orchard.
My ex, who is a Team Lead, gets a large bonus. Can consider buying a PS5, pay 600 in rent, eat out, go on trips, buy fucking trading cards, etc...
And almost %50 of Wal-Mart associates are on food stamps.
I. Will. Be. Homeless..... and the Store Manager is building an orchard.

❤ Version 7.0 Fleuralia Save File ❤
Tumblr media
Download link down below (please read entire post before installing)
This save file uses all EP’s, GP’s (not Journey to Batuu), SP’s and most of the kits (Country Kitchen, Blooming Rooms, Incheon Arrivals, Retro Fit, Industrial loft, Moonlight Chic, Little Campers, Pastel Pop, Everyday Clutter, Bathroom Clutter, Simtimates Collection, First Fits, Desert Luxe, Modern Luxe, Poolside Splash, Book Nook, Basement treasures, Greenhouse Haven, Pastel Pop and Bust the Dust).
What’s new in this update?:
Chestnut Ridge and Tomarang have been completely redone, added multiple new lots, updated other lots and provided make-overs for the households.
Added new households (when living in world; with jobs, friends, preferences etc).
Added rental lots in multiple other worlds outside of Tomarang (Brindleton Bay, Henford-on-Bagley, Britechester and more).
Spooky Fall Festival has been moved to Chestnut Ridge (bigger with haunted house ride). The old lot in Brindleton Bay has been changed into a cemetery.
Current Status of Worlds:
Finished worlds: Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Newcrest, Magnolia Promenade, Windenburg, San Myshuno, Forgotten Hollow, Brindleton Bay, Del Sol Valley, StrangerVille, Glimmerbrook, Sulani, Britechester , Evergreen Harbor, Mt. Komorebi, Henford-on-Bagley, Tartosa, Moonwood Mill, Copperdale, San Sequoia, Chestnut Ridge (NEW!) and Tomarang (NEW!).
Finished vacation worlds: Granite Falls and Selvadorada.
Finihed other lots: Hospital, Science Lab and the Police Station.
To be updated: the Magic Realm, will either be included in a future update or on the gallery (OriginID: fleuralia)
What do you get with this save?:
For my save file all lots are either completely new builds (almost all) or renovations, ofcourse created by me. Exceptions: I have added the official builds for the releases of the Paranormal SP by Dr Ashley and the Dream Home Decorator GP by Deligracy to this save, since I thought they deserved a spot. These two are therefore not my own creations, credits are given in the description to Dr Ashley and Deligracy. Mt. Komorebi, Henford-on-Bagley, Tartosa, Moonwood Mill, Copperdale, San Sequoia and Chestnut Ridge lots are largely created by GameChangers. Most lots have gotten smaller updates, others are completely new builds by me.
All the townies had make-overs plus I added new families to spice it up a bit. Some of the townies are made by other creators, who are given credits in the description of the household. All the townies in the different worlds have a story, some include sentiments and adjusted relationships to the story.
Added plenty of community lots to give your Sims something to do (YAY!). Almost every world has one restaurant, but it also includes festivals that represent the four seasons (park lots) and a fully functional shopping street in Magnolia Promenade (toy store, bridal store and more).
I have added rental lots so you can go on vacation in more worlds. For example in Sulani, Willow Creek and Windenburg.
Other details:
As mentioned at the beginning, this save uses almost all packs (except Journey to Batuu and some kits). This means that if you download it without owning or installing most of the packs a lot of objects will disappear from the save, but if you are not bothered by this you can still download and play in it.
I disabled the autonomous fame gain and neigborhood action plan voting/environmental changes, you enable them again in the pack settings menu.
I would love to add some households in this save created by all of you! Add your household under the hashtag #fleuraliatownies in The Sims 4 Gallery, you can add a storyline and world in the description but thats not obligatory. If I respond on your creation it means that I have incorporated it in the save for the next update.
Sadly every game update comes with a lot of bugs. I suggest before reporting problems in the save to me, to check on forums if its related to a general bug/glitch or to mods (if you use them).
Questions and supportive feedback are always welcome, you can reach me here via a comment on this post, an ask or through a DM 😁
How to make it work in your game:
Download the save file from the link below.
Drag it in your saves folder under: PC/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves.
Change the numbers if you already have a save with the same name.
It should now show up in your game as: Fleuralia Save Version 7.0.
DOWNLOAD (SFS) / Alternate (GD)
!!Don’t re-upload or claim as your own!!
Future updates will follow after each pack release (if it includes a world). The time the update will be uploaded after each release depends on how much I have to change and on my work schedule around that time.
Last but not least, enjoy and till next time! XX

capture the flag - leo valdez
Request: nope Pairing:  leo valdez x apollo!reader Summary:  during capture the flag, no one gets stuck in leo's traps and he wants to find out why Warnings:  none Word count:  800 A/N: this has been sitting in my drafts for a while and now that I'm back in my pjo era time to finish it! enjoy :)
capture the flag is always fun. it's a nice way for people to train together while it feels like a game. even though sometimes people get too competitive.
it gives leo the chance to litter the forest with traps, and to test new inventions. of course, he could test them in the bunker or on his friends. but this is the real deal. no one knows where the traps are, how many there are. it's the perfect conditions to test them.
he's made a new batch of them but for some reason none of the traps work.
whenever he goes to check on them, they're all disabled. no one's activated them, or he would have found a fellow camper near one.
and leo is absolutely sure he activated them. they didn't blow up so there's nothing wrong with them.
and yet they're disabled.
rather than trying to capture the flag, he decides to hide in the bushes near one of his traps to see what - or who - is disabling them.
he listens to the sounds of the woods around him and pulls stuff out of his tool bel two mindlessly build little machines.
after a while, he spots movement out of the corner of his eye.
whoever it is moves quietly and gracefully. so definitely not an ares kid, leo concludes.
the person slowly walks over to leo's trap, careful where they put their feet down on the forrest floor.
leo watches as they walk around the trap, examining it. he shifts to get a better look at who it is.
he frowns slightly. he would have expected someone from the hermes cabin. maybe piper because he's spent a lot of time trying to explain his machines to her.
but he didn't expect it to be a daughter of apollo.
to be fair, leo thought the apollo cabin didn't know anything about traps or machines in general. their skills were mostly archery, medicine and music. not traps built by a hephaestus kid.
leo's eyes follow your hand movements as you carefully prod around the trap. surely you wouldn't be able to- and you disabled it.
smiling to yourself, you straighten your back and us your foot to slide the now useless trap aside.
when you turn around, you hear leaves rustle behind you.
instinctively, you knock an arrow on your bow and turn on your heel.
you are met by leo, who is frantically waving his hands in front of his face.
'don't shoot, don't shoot! I come in peace!' he yells.
you lower your bow. 'leo! gods, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!'
'that's alright.' says leo, lowering his hands. 'I was the one hiding behind you.'
you frown. 'why were you hiding anyway? usually you like to be in the middle of the action.' you say.
'can't help the fact people start fighting over me wherever I go.' says leo, making you chuckle.
'yeah, right, valdez. as if anyone could come near you with the amount of traps you're setting.' you say.
'speaking of which.' says leo, walking over to his trap and picking it up to examine it. 'how did you know where the kill switch was on this?'
you shrug. 'that's a tactical secret I can't reveal.' you say. 'for future capture the flag purposes.'
'or you just got lucky.'
'23 times?'
'yeah, that seems unlikely.'
you smile. 'there's a window in the roof of bunker nine.' you say. 'it's actually a two way mirror. it doesn't let any light through. gives me a perfect view of your workspace, though.'
'so the tactical secret is spying.' says leo.
'can't win if you don't play a little dirty every now and then. plus it's cool to see all the stuff you create.'
you shoulder your bow. 'good luck activating all of the traps again.' you say. 'I need to get back to my cabin.'
you start to walk toward the noise your fellow campers are making, to see if your team is winning and how you can help.
'hey!'
you turn around to see leo is still standing in the clearing with the trap in his hands.
'if you want to, I could show you how to make these? then you will be able to do more than just disable them.' he says.
you smile at him, you've always liked leo.
but you are surprised, you know leo is kind of protective of bunker 9 and usually only Hephaestus kids go inside. it must be a huge deal for someone from another cabin to be invited into the bunker.
and Leo wants you here.
'sure.' you say. 'I'd like that. but first we have to steal your flag.'
'oh no, you won't.' says leo.
with one last smile, you disappear into the woods, leaving leo to reactivate his trap before coming after you.
A/N: If you want to request something, make sure to read my house rulesHere’s the list of characters I write for. Everything that I have written can be found on my masterlist. Please don’t repost my work, as I spend much time and effort on it!! Thank you for reading! Much love, Marit/Max

Is anyone else very impressed with how Rick Riordan basically tricked Disney into publishing books with very LGBT+ characters which sort of seems like something Disney tries to hide. (Hide meaning only tiny glimpses that they can hide easily)
What I mean by “tricking”
The Lightning Thief. Simple. All the kids are assumed cis white and straight. Only really inclusive in the way that they have learning disabilities and messy family life. And it stays that way, maybe adding some side characters that are POC, (Beckendorf being described as black but there’s not much interaction with him until The Demigod Files and Last Olympian. Maybe you could say Nico and Bianca are Italian immigrants.
Then you get to Heroes of Olympus, where out of the 7 in Great Prophecy only 3 are white, (you got Piper being Native American, Hazel is Black, Leo is Latino and Frank is Chinese-Canadian) but most are still assumed straight. Until you get Nico’s reveal in House of Hades (if I remember right)
But then….oh boy.
Trials of Apollo.
Apollo is the main character and canonically bisexual, talking about several past lovers some male some female. Even stating one of his campers mortal parent is also her father. There is a cannon gay couple. There’s a cannon old lesbian couple.
Magnus Chase
Practically cannon gay couple (one deaf), Muslim character, pan character, trans gender fluid.
Now we are getting a book that stars a gay couple.
Rick basically said to Disney, “look at these! Harmless adventure stories. Look. Locked in? Okay! POC and LGBT+ can’t say no to me now I’m selling too many books. If I go to someone else I’ll just be making them money.
I just find it very funny, but I also credit Rick with exposing me to a lot of it. Before I read these books I hadn’t seen too much of this stuff in other media.
(Also adding how in Daughter of the Deep the main character gets her period in the middle of the book and it’s treated as normal.)

WIBTA if I bought my friends Dollar Tree gifts for our annual gift exchange at summer camp? I (27, nonbinary) have three other friends (26, 25 and 23) who are used to getting gifts for our annual gift exchange.
We exchange gifts every time we meet up again at the summer camp for disabled campers that we go to. They get mad if I don't make gifts. However, due to two new health conditions and a busy life as well as a limited budget, this year, I was thinking of buying them dollar tree gifts.
The gifts would fit each friends personality. Thread for the crafter, fidget for the friend who loves fidgetz, book for the bookish friend.
One of the friends in the group doesnt do gift exchanges as she also has a limited budget and I am tired of seeing that friend feel left out so I am wondering if we can do things a bit differently this year.
A few months ago, i brought up that idea and it was immediately shut down
So i was thinking of doing Dollar Tree items instead.

APOLLO CHILDREN HCS !!
When they walk they're perfectly on beat
ALL of them can rap Hamitlon perfectly
Their cabin is filled with pride flags, binders, etc to make the campers feel safe and welcomed
They all have an annual day to watch the flowers outside their cabin bloom
Whenever someone comes out as queer, they make a little gift basket full of the flag's color themed stuff
ALL their eyes have that "sparkle" in them, that makes it hard to say no to
Most Apollo children are extroverts, but for the ones that are introverts, they recharge by laying out in the sun
They host art nights, where the entire camp paints rocks for a rock garden
For Apollo kids with disabilities like EDS that make healing actually A LOT slower than what even normal people have, they tend to be medics a lot more.
Them and then Demeter/Persephone children (I forgot if Persephone had children) make flower crowns to gift the new campers

That's fair. But, yeah, the movie addition of Grover's crutches were one of the best things that came out of them, and I love that it's a popular idea!
Also, I always thought of Chiron as someone with a disability (hc of mine I had since I started reading PJO), but I don't remember the show giving him one canonically in the show, if you don't mind me asking, what was their reasoning (for lack of a better word)?
I'd suspect the writers-side reasoning was in part due to an old criticism of the series, where the only character with a wheelchair wasn't disabled, it was just part of his disguise (which is part of why we got the random new camper in Tower of Nero mentioned in passing who uses a wheelchair - and why we get next to zero actual information on him besides his name and that he uses a wheelchair, because essentially all he exists as is a response to that criticism).
So in the show rather than just having the wheelchair, which a very iconic part of Chiron's character, just be a prop/part of his disguise or rather than trying to remove it entirely, they went the route of incorporating some of his mythology into an explanation as to why he uses it. Mythologically-speaking, Chiron is often written as either being killed or permanently injured by getting shot in the leg, or otherwise struck with an arrow (possibly poisoned) in the foot/leg/hoof/etc. In the show it's very subtle and they never acknowledge it explicitly, but when he's not in his wheelchair one of his horse legs has a splint on it and he's subtly limping, implying that he does genuinely require a mobility device and is disabled. It's been confirmed in behind-the-scenes stuff and on social media that this was intentional and a reference to those myths as one of the new additions in the show. I personally do like it as an addition and I think it was a good way to address that criticism, but I do wish we got some in-show acknowledgement of it, similarly to how the show is severely lacking in acknowledgement of disability in general (adhd/dyslexia, etc).
