Leo watches as you sit beside him, arms thrown out behind you to support you as your legs sprawled out in front of you with your head thrown back in peaceful bliss just enjoying the rare peacefulness and calm at Camp Half Blood. With the mid-July heat reaching soaring temperature, activities had been cancelled for the safety of the campers, it had only been a week earlier most of them ended up with heat stroke after a fully day of activities and Will had insisted it not happen again the infirmary was overrun with ill campers and he may have lost his mind in the chaos as there wasn’t enough well trained healer lefts in the Apollo cabin, yourself included as your gifts lay more on the side of archery and the arts.
Which left the campers free to do what they wanted, most had opted to stay in the shade of their cabins or had enlisted the help of the Hecate cabin who were providing enchanted fans that would help campers stay cool. There were only really three cabins who were found out in heat, the Hephaestus cabin who was used to the heat from the armoury, the Poseidon cabin (which was only Percy at the minute as Tyson got called back down to their father armoury) who opted for staying in the water all day to avoid the scorching heat, and the Apollo cabin who were lounging about various parts of the camp enjoying the sunshine while they could.
So while Leo was supposed to be working away in the armoury, or in bunker 9, you found a spot on the beach to relax the day away. Leo had seen you on his way to bunker 9 and just couldn’t help himself but join you for a little while, after all it had been a long time since the two of you were able to be alone with Chiron and Mr D really cracking down on two campers of the opposite sex being alone together after one of the Aphrodite kids and Ares kids were caught in a compromising position a few weeks before.
While you could go to bunker 9 for a little privacy, you had been so busy this summer with teaching archery and taking care of the newest additions to the Apollo cabin, a sweet little 6 year old girl called Abigail, who had attached herself to your hip the moment she arrived at the start of summer, and Leo was busy working away in bunker 9 on his newest contraption or else he was deep in the armoury helping his siblings come up with new weapon ideas.
So you only really saw each other during lunch and dinner and the end of night sing-a-longs where you wrap yourself up in Leo’s arms and you tell each other about your day but it wasn’t enough. You missed him, missed his touch, his sweet words, and the way he lit your body up like a circuit board with just a single touch, and he missed you as well. Missed your sweet smile and angelic words, missed how your touch made him feel alive, as if every nerve in his body was designed to respond to your touch. So, of course he was going to relish in any moment alone with you that he could get, including right now.
“You’re staring.”
Your voice breaks Leo out of his trance, the teasing lilt and small smirk spreading on your lips causing him to roll his eyes affectionately while a smile spreads across his lips, he thought he was being sneaky as he came up beside you but of course you knew he was there you always seemed to know when he was around. “It’s hard not to mi corazon.”
You look simply ethereal with your hair drawn back out of your face and the sun glistening off the light sheen of sweat that had gathered on your skin. How could you not? You were the child of the sun god himself and you were most certainly in your element with the summer rays shimmering against your exposed skin.
You dip your head forward and turn to the side to look at Leo, eyes full of love and affection as they trail over your figure clad in a pair of shorts and your orange Camp Half Blood shirt which you had tied up with at the front with a hair tie to try and alleviate some of the discomfort caused by the heat while also exposing as much skin as you could to the sun. You let out a scoff at his words and roll your eyes at him, “I am sweating like a pig Leo, my hair is a frizzy mess because of the mixture of heat and humidity. I am a certified mess right now.”
“You are still the most beautiful person on this planet”
This time you snort at him, “Careful don’t let the Drew hear you, she’d have heart failure,” He just laughs as he reaches out to you and gently pushes you down onto the sand by your shoulder, following suit so he was hovering over you and placing his hands by your head to support himself as he leans down and places a gentle kiss to your lips.
You melt into the kiss, your hands reaching up to wrap around Leo’s neck and tangle themselves through the little baby curls at the base of his neck. The kiss is soft and sweet at first, you’re just relishing the feeling of being in each others arms of being able to kiss each other without an audience around but it quickly turns a little more heated as you get greedy and tug on Leo’s curls.
He groans at the motion, allowing you to slip your tongue into his mouth and deepen the kiss, absolutely desperate to have every little bit of himself he was willing to give in that moment. Leo indulges you, allowing you to swirl your tongue around his before he takes control and forces your tongue back into your mouth, opting to bite down on your lip which draws a soft whimper from your lips and electricity to course through your entire body to where you wanted Leo the most.
Knowing what you want, Leo is quick to adjust himself so that now his knee was in between your legs pressing against you in the most delicious way. You whine at the contact, a small breathy moan leaving your lips that is doing nothing to calm the raging boner that Leo is now sporting, and Leo pulls back to chuckle against your lips, “My sweet little sunshine girl, already so desperate for me.”
Leo words cause even more heat to spread through your body and you have to do everything in your power to stop yourself grinding against his knee, so instead to distract yourself you pull Leo back down to your lips and tangle your hands in his hair, giving a light tug every now and then that causes beautiful moans to slip through Leo’s lips.
You were so greedy for Leo that you would have kept going and let him take you right there on the beach but the sound of voices causes the two of you to break apart before you can get too heated, some of which you recognise as being your siblings from the Apollo cabin (Will included) who seemed to have decided now was the perfect time for a quick swim. You let out a gentle ’fuck’, annoyed that they had interrupted your time with Leo, and Leo just chuckles as he takes a hand to gently run down your jawline so he could cup your check and press a quick peck against your lips before he stands up and offers you a hand, an enticing smirk on his face.
“What do you say we sneak off to bunker 9 sunshine? Hmm?”
You’re quick to take his hand and he pulls you up into his chest, where you pull him down by his shirt for another quick kiss just before your siblings arrive at the beach, “That sounds absolutely perfect.”
Leo is quick to start pulling you in the direction of bunker 9, offering a quick nod of his head to your siblings (apart from darling little Abigail who was spending the day with Lacy at the Aphrodite cabin) who are all giving you knowing looks and smirks with Will shouting after you to “make safe choices”, causing you to flip him off with a smile as Leo laughs.

i have a request!!! you should write a daughter of apollo x leo valdez fic but based on espresso by sabrina carpenter (idk i feel like that song gives children of apollo vibes!) it'd be leo obsessed with the apollo girl (like him being absolutely obsessed with her, having the biggest crush on her possible, he constantly thinks about her, him being an absolute loser bf) and finally getting the courage to ask her out on a date or something like that.
“she’s like a shot of espresso…”

“is it that sweet? I guess so…..”
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ - ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Leo was sure he was going crazy.
He always had a pretty big amount of silly crushes on girls, but with you? It was getting way too serious. Of course, you're beautiful, incredibly kind, and too generous for your own good, and you treated him well, but that isn't enough reason to make him lose sleep; at least that's what he thought.
And he was extremely wrong. Being in your presence was the equivalent of being bathed in the sunlight, and gods, he felt like a prisoner who hadn't seen the sun in years.
He's completely obsessed with you; he just needs the courage to verbalize that, but being honest, Leo felt like a coward at the moment.
While being lost in his thoughts (the thoughts being the pretty daughter of Apollo that never leaves his mind), the boy finally falls asleep.
Leo doesn't mind waking up if that means spending the day with the people he loves, so after getting ready for the day, he searches for you.
And he found you, talking with a much younger camper, helping him. You're smiling like it's the best day of your life, and Leo could swear that you're almost glowing.
The boy makes its way to you the same moment you finish talking to the kid, now having your full attention on Hephaestus' son.
"Leo! Good morning!" Your voice to him had the same effect as listening to his favorite music, it made him happy in ways he couldn't explain, even if his life depended on it.
"Yn! Good morning!" He mimics you, not in a bad way, just a teasing one. You roll your eyes in fake annoyance.
"Sooo, did you sleep well, Valdez?" You ask, seeming really interested in the answer, but he knows that you're like that for everything, being extremely kind.
"Not really, would be better if I dreamed about you," you laugh amusingly.
"You say that every day, y'know?"
"I know, I say because it's true. " You can't help but blush a little. You're used to Leo flirting with you, but it never gets past that, so you just learned to joke back.
"Hilarious, Valdez... fortunately, I slept very well today, and I'm more excited than normal! I think it's because it's so sunny today, that's awesome, was thinking about going to the lake later. I can't waste such a pretty day like this one painting inside my cabin..."
"Unfortunately, I'll be in the bunker today, I have lots of things to do."
"What? No! You're coming with me, you can't waste this wonderful day either!" You grab his hands, walking toward the lake.
Leo could swear he would pass out at that moment. He couldn't even think about denying your offer, he would prefer dying to doing that.
After a few seconds, you guys get to the lake.
"Look how pretty it is! You have to go swimming with me, it’s a need.”
"Look, sunshine, water and fire don't get along so well, so I might skip that one" he says, apologetic. You frown, thinking.
"We don't need to go swimming, we can just talk, i really don't care." You smile lovingly at him.
"I don't want to ruin your day! There are many people that can go with you, you'll find someone better to do that." He's so oblivious that it's getting concerning.
"I want to spend time with you, Valdez. I don't mind if it's swimming or just talking, I want to, you know..be with you."
"Oh." He's acting like a loser, he can't think straight anymore and is blushing like crazy, but who cares?
"Oh?" You tease him, smiling.
"Yeah, we can. Just talk, I'm happy with that. " His smile was so genuine that made your heart melt.
That's when you realize you're still holding his hand, and you don't want to change that. You can feel he notices too.
Something just snapped in his head, now it’s the time, now or never, right?
"Yn? Can I tell you something?" He says it in a quiet tone, and you just nod.
"When I'm around you, it's like constantly drinking a shot of espresso, it's like being bathed in sunlight, you're incredibly energetic and enthusiastic, and i just can't get enough of you, you're my sunrise and daylight....all I'm saying is, gods, I very much love you more than just friends" You're surprised, really surprised, so surprised that you can't even speak for a moment, which just makes Leo even more nervous.
"Please say something...like, anything, a no it's better than silence because it’s less-“ Before he yaps again, you interrupt him:
"I like you too." The boy almost squeals of pure excitement.
"Seriously? Oh gods, oh gods. What?" He's so happy, it's so sincere, so soft, it's amazing, you can feel your heart beating so fast, and you don't even care; seeing him like this because of you is the best feeling you ever felt.
Then you see that one look, meant just for you, it's like time has frozen, and you're both thinking the same thing. Then, like all the stars aligned, you kissed him

Anyone But You
Leo Valdez x Reader
6k words
TW: implied sexual content
When you’re trapped on a magical flying boat with 7 other people, there’s somethings that you definitely don’t want to happen, like getting caught after making out with your best friend who you may or may not be in love with, you also don’t want them to overhear you to say it meant nothing. AKA I watched Anyone but you this weekend because I’m in love with Sydney Sweeney and all I could think about is the amount of drama that would’ve happened if this was a teen flick. Like no adults (or Annabeth) to think things through, the drama would be unmatched. Soooo yeah and I know this doesn’t fully fit into the actual plot of the books and it doesn’t really follow the plot of the movie either but canon be damned. I’m gonna just make things up sorry.
Y/N’s POV:
They were friends, that was it. Sure Leo Valdez was cute, and yeah maybe he had this way of smiling at you that made it impossible not to blush, and of course his jokes were hilarious, despite you being the only one laughing most of the time, but it didn’t mean anything. At least not at first, but on a boat filled with couples, by default you spent most of your time with Leo, at first you were sort of forced into it, but eventually you sought him out when you were bored. His non stop talking was sure to fill the silence that you found suffocating. Eventually you two became joint at the hip, everyone could see it, but it's not like you two were ever truly alone with one another, especially after Percy and Annabeth’s little “falling asleep talking the the stables” incident when you first set sail. Coach Hedge spent more time patrolling for indecent activity between the crew than he did for monsters. Still, your moments with Leo managed to keep you up at night, you woke up with a smile on your face every time. That was of course until everything went wrong.
Percy and Annabeth were gone, lost in the depths of Tartarus and as you rushed to try and save them, there was a constant cloud of doubt and stress covering the ship. The only saving grace was the departure of Coach Hedge, Nico, and Reyna as the set off across the world to deliver the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood. Not that you disliked having the later two around, it just made it simpler to not have so many people on a small ship, and as for Coach Hedge, it didn’t take long for the couples to start spending a night together with no fear of an angry satyr with a baseball bat intruding. Slowly but surely everybody seemed to be bunking with someone else at night, not just the couples, you often found yourself sleeping over with Hazel and Piper or falling asleep on Frank or Leo’s floor while hanging out. The only persons room you didn’t find you self in was Jason’s and that’s because the boy was always up at 4 am no matter what time he went to sleep, and you weren’t crazy enough to be awake at such an ungodly hour.It was obvious though, that nobody wanted to be alone, especially now the the crew’s size had shrunk significantly. That’s how you found yourself in Leo’s room late one afternoon, nobody besides Jason could stand being on the ships deck for too long do to the storm brewing meaning you needed a way to occupy your time. Everyone seemed a bit on edge that day, but you figured Leo could make you laugh and probably would be alone working on some project anyways. You were right, slowly as the day moved on, talking turned into something more, at least that’s what the cluster of hickeys that painted your neck implied. You hadn’t thought too much about it when you were in the heat of the moment, but now, laying in Leo’s arms as the sun began to rise, you were panicking. Before you could even think about what you were doings, you had already gathered your belongings, doing your best to make yourself presentable before sneaking out and back to your own bunk.
You thought you had gotten away with it too, styling your hair in a braid an throwing on a oversize sweatshirt, you didn’t think anyone would notice, but over course Piper did. The very first thing she did when you emerged from your room was call you out.
“Looks like someone had a fun night”
“I have no clue what you’re talking about Pipes,” You tried your best to sound oblivious but it wasn’t working.
‘‘Right, so you didn’t spend the night in Leo’s room and come out covered in. Hi-“ She was cut off by you shoving your hand over her mouth just as Frank turned the corner to head into his room.
“Do I even want to know,” He laughed as he looked at you both.
“No, bye Frank” You said way too quickly to not be suspicious before dragging Piper into her room and closing the door behind you.
“Spill” She commanded.
It left you wondering for a moment if she had used her charmspeak on you because it was like you couldn’t get the words out fast enough, desperate to tell someone about how you felt. It was more than just something physical, Leo was your best friend, your confidant, last night almost seemed to be too good to be true, with you talking for hours about everything under the sun. You told Piper about how you felt after, about how you snuck out first thing in the morning, panicked about what to do and what to say, about how all you could think about the entire time the two of you had been in her room talking, is what you were going to say when you saw Leo on deck later.
“So what you’re telling me is that instead of telling Leo you’re in love with him you snuck out and didn’t say anything. You just left him alone in his bed.”
“I never said I was in love with Leo, I just-“
She cut you off, “No Y/N you didn’t say it, but it's pretty damn obvious. So?”
“So what?”
“Are you going to tell him?” She asked
“I can’t do that! What if he doesn’t feel the same, what if it-“
“Y/n I swear if you don’t get your ass over to his room right now and tell him I’m going to do it myself”
“Is that an option? Because I’m totally okay with that”
“Y/n GO”
So you went, and as you approached Leo’s door you saw it was cracked open and could hear 2 voices coming from inside, Hazel’s and Leo’s.
Leo’s POV
Last night changed everything, for the first time in his life, Leo wasn’t the odd man out. For the first time in his life, Leo felt like things were going right, the girl he’d been in love with for weeks was in his bed, in his arms, and yet the most exciting part by far was the way she smiled, the way she blushed whenever he made a joke, Y/N was perfect. Everything was perfect, until he woke up and she was gone. At first he sat there wondering what he did wrong, maybe he should go find her, or maybe give her space. It wasn’t like there was a manual out there for what to do after hooking up with your best friend who you’re secretly in love with and she snuck out on you. So instead he found the next best thing, after a quick iris message Hazel was in his room in no time at all. So Leo told her everything, well not everything, she was still pretty naive in a lot of ways, and he was pretty sure some of the 21st century occurrences would’ve given the girl an aneurysm. But Hazel listen to every word of the slightly abridged version of events and came to the simplest conclusion.
“So you’re in love with Y/n” She stated quite directly.
“In LOVE with Y/N? No not at all” He didn’t even know why he said it.
“Okay but you talked all night and kissed and said everything is different? How can you say you’re not in love” She asked, she seemed genuinely confused, but so did Leo to be fair.
“Look all of this is new to me, and I don’t really do the whole love and relationships thing” He tried to say it in a way that seemed cool like some sort of playboy, it wasn’t working.
“Okay but you like her right”
He thought about it for a minute before answering, the thought of being in love was enough to make his stomach churn with anxiety, romance was uncharted territory. There were too many feelings, too many moving peices that were out of his control. Sure Y/n was basically his entire world, some days he could’ve sworn he woke up just to see her, but at the same time she left so quickly without even saying goodbye, what if he was overthinking what happened last night. So he let his insecurities take over, and his hurt fueled the words the came out of his mouth.
“Honestly Hazel, I think I was just bored, I mean Y/N was there. Besides I don’t do love, Y/ns great and all but, its never going to happen between us”
“Are you sure about that” Hazel was shocked
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my entire life” And for a brief moment Leo could’ve sworn he heard footsteps in the hall outside his room .
“I don’t know Leo, maybe she just left because she was nervous”
“Nervous? Nervous about what? I was nervous too, but I didn’t leave, I stayed.”
“Why did you stay though?”
“Because,” He hesitated, “ Because I thought maybe we could be together, that she loved me too”
“Then maybe you need to tell her that, she deserves to know”
Y/N’s POV
“Honestly Hazel, I think I was just bored, I mean Y/N was there. Besides I don’t do love, Y/ns great and all but, its never going to happen between us” Leo’s words hit Y/N like a punch to the gut. Maybe he didn’t mean it. Hazel seemed to be thinking the same thing.
“Are you sure about that” Hazel said almost too quietly to hear despite the open door.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my entire life”
That was all it took for y/n to run away, trying your best to be silent knowing you were probably failing. You did your best to hold it together, with each step closer to your room however the tears seemed to flow harder. How could you have been so stupid. Y/N thought that maybe Leo felt the same, even Piper had agreed, if they were both wrong, Y/N must be damn near delusional. It was moments like these where Y/N missed Annabeth more than ever, she would’ve been straight to the point doing some analysis of the situation and determining the best way for Y/N to move on. Hell it was moments like this where Y/N wished Coached Hedge was running around with a baseball bat and could’ve prevented this from ever happening in the first place.
You made it to your room slamming the door behind you, the impact shook the room, causing a picture frame that had been hung on the wall to fall the the ground shattering in a hundred tiny pieces. You couldn’t even be bothered to clean it up instead you sat down on the floor and cried. Y/n’s body shook with sobs and realized why they called it heartbreak. Just like the picture frame on the ground he heart felt like a piece of glass that had been broken beyond repair.
Y/n didn’t know how long she had been sitting there, maybe 10 minutes or ten hours but you did know you had no tears left to cry. Your lips were dry, your eyes were lined with red, and your head was aching. You had enough medical training from your time living in cabin 7 to know you should probably get some water and try to eat something, but you just didn’t have the energy so you kept sitting there. It felt like eternity later when there was a knock on the door. Y/N wasn’t sure if she said come in or if Frank out of worry took it upon himself to open the door unprompted, but there he was looking at the sniffling mess of a girl sitting on the floor surrounded by broken glass. He had a plate of food in his hand, vegetarian enchiladas, it was Leo’s night to make dinner. Without a word, Frank set down the plate and started cleaning up the glass. When he finished that he looked at Y/N who still hadn’t said a word to him, he wasn’t sure exactly what to do or why she was upset but he knew that this was going to be someone else’s problem so he got Piper.
When Piper got to Y/N’s room a few minutes later not much had changed. Y/N still sat on her floor but unlike Frank, Piper knew what the look on y/n’s face meant and what had caused her tears.
“Don’t tell me he turned you down” She said softly wrapping y/n in a hug as she sat on the ground next to you.
“I didn’t give him that chance to say it to my face not after what he told Hazel”
“What do you mean? What did he say to Hazel?” She questioned
“He said it was never going to happen between us, he said he was sure about it.”
“Oh honey, I’m so sorry. I shouldn't have told you to go over there. He’s such a jerk. You didn’t deserve that.”
“Just don’t tell anyone, please” You said softly. It was bad enough you looked like an idiot, it would be worse if everyone knew Leo Valdez had rejected you after everything that had happened. “Promise me.”
Maybe it was just the overwhelming emotions you were feeling, but you didn’t even notice that Piper never responded.
1 Week Later
Everyone was on edge, petty fights and disagreements became blowouts far too often, and more than ever it felt like the 6 of you left on the ship would rip each other's throats out if given the chance. Y/N and Leo weren’t immune, it was probably worse for you two since he couldn’t take the hint you wanted nothing to do with him. You’d been trying your best to avoid him whenever possible but he continued to seek your attention, as if he had any right to talk to you after everything. While Leo didn’t seem to take the hint, everybody else seemed to pick up on what was happening. Piper had talked to Jason about what happened, after all it only seemed fair he knew since the 4 of you had gone on your first quest together and he was the only one who didn’t know the story but she had sworn him to secrecy. What Y/N didn’t know however, was that everyone but her seemed to be talking about her relationship issues.
Frank thought he had put two and two together after seeing y/n crying and seeing Leo act like more of a love struck idiot than normal, but what he didn’t understand is why Y/N would be upset that Leo liked her. Sure Leo was basically the most annoying person to ever exist second only to Octavian, maybe, but Y/n very clearly liked him so it didn’t make sense. At least not until he talked to Hazel and Piper one afternoon as they made a pit stop in a small town to get some groceries.
“Maybe I’m just dumb, but why is Y/N avoiding Leo? I thought she liked him and he clearly likes her back” Frank asked.
“Look they’re both my friends and I’m not taking sides here, but just because he had a sudden change of heart doesn’t mean she automatically has to forgive him,” for someone who wasn’t picking sides, Piper was being pretty clear how she felt.
“Forgive him for what?” Hazel looked lost
“What do you mean change of heart?” Frank asked
“Look Y/N asked me not to talk about it she feels awful enough as is without everybody knowing what Leo said” Piper said looking slightly torn, she didn’t want to betray y/ns trust but its not like she promised her anything.
“Okay but it's not like I’m going to go to Y/n and ask her about it, I’m just trying to figure out what happened. One moment she’s laughing with you in the hallway Piper, and the next she’s crying and ignoring Leo whenever he tries to talk to her,” Frank explained, “from where im standing it makes no sense, she’s clearly liked him for weeks, but now that he is trying to get with her she just pretends he doesn’t exist.”
“No I’m sorry but that is so not what’s happening” Piper said all worries about betraying Y/N seemed to disappear pretty quick, “I don’t know why Leo all of a sudden is all over Y/n considering he told Hazel there was no way he’d every date Y/n”
“Wait, he told Y/N about our conversation?” Hazel looked more confused than ever, “because if they talked about it, then she knows he’s in love with her, he admitted it right after he said that , he was just scared she left without saying anything because she didn’t like him.”
“Wait so he does like her” Now Piper was confused.
“So they both like each other? I was right, but this still doesnt explain why Y/n is all mad at him then.” Frank looked a little too pleased with himself for someone who still had no clue what was happening.
“Of course he likes her, I mean he’s totally in love with her,” Hazel acted like this was the ost obvious thing in the world, “but I’m with Frank here, if she likes him too I don’t get why she’s mad.”
“Because she went to go talk to him and heard him say it was never going to happen between them, and she just left” Piper stated
“Which means when I went to Y/N’s room and she was crying its because she didn’t hear the rest of the conversation” Frank said
“And Leo took my advice to tell her he loves her, but” Hazel continued
“She won't listen to him because she’s upset” Piper finished
“So, what do we do?” Frank was asking the important questions.
“I mean we should probably let them handle this on their own right?” Hazel, sweet innocent Hazel couldn’t be more wrong.
“No, we have to set them up,” Piper looked at hazel who clearly disagreed, “and before you say anything, think about it, we need the two of them on their best behavior if we are gonna save Percy and Annabeth and what better way to make them get along than if they’re getting it on”
“Getting it on?” Hazel asked
Frank looked panicked. “What Piper means is we need them to date, or at least be willing to be in the same room with one another.”
“And how are we going to do that,” Hazel asked.
“Easy, divide and conquer” Frank said
When Hazel, Frank, and Piper got back to the ship, things were worse than when they had left. It seems Leo had given up on trying to talk to Y/N, instead he had resorted to leaving when ever she walked in the room, and at one point at lease according to Jason, while fighting a monster who had gotten on board, the two were so busy arguing they almost killed each other instead. This could only mean one thing, they were going to need more help to set the two up so Jason was enlisted in the plan. It started simple at first, Seats were taken strategically at the table forcing Y/n and Leo to sit either directly next to each other or across from one another. It didn’t make for a pleasant dining experience to say the least. For the first few meals most of the dinner conversation went from bad to worse.
“Can you pass the salt” Y/N asked, the shaker was right in front of Leo, and while she’d rather not talk to him, her mama would’ve killed her for not using her manners at the dinner table.
Nobody moved. The silence was thick, it was salt for gods sake, one of them could just pass it over, but it was right in front of Leo and he wasn’t moving.
“Leo, can you pass y/n the salt” Hazel whispered, may he just hadn’t heard her.
“Oh she was asking me,” his voice was dripping with sarcasm, “I thought we weren’t speaking.”
“Yeah well if we aren’t talking you may as well just shut up and pass the salt” Y/N’s voice was laced with venom.
“What’s your problem” Leo practically jumped out of his chair.
“Me? I don’t have a problem”
“Oh please it looks like you have plenty of them”
“Okay, that’s enough you two” Jason tried to intervene before it went too far, it had been the same conversation for the past 3 meals and it never ended well, “Leo could you just give her the salt.”
“That depends, is she just going to use it then disappear?”
“Leo-“ Jason warned”
“Fine take it, whatever makes you happy right Y/N” He didn’t wait to hear ehr response before storming off.
Clearly they needed to try harder than that. So that night Piper, Frank, Hazel, and Jason devised a second part of the plan. If the root of the issue was Leo thinking Y/N didn’t like him and that’s why she was ignoring him, and Y/N overheard the conversation where Leo insisted he wouldn’t date her, then it was up to everyone else to subtly tell let the two know just how wrong they got things. The plan was mostly Jason’s idea, but he was definitely right. Piper was almost annoyed she didn’t think of it sooner, especially considering her mom was the goddess of love and all that. So they set into action, Frank and Piper would patrol the deck while Leo was steering the ship and talk about how Y/N is clearly just upset because she thinks Leo doesn’t like her just loud enough that he would overhear, Jason would have Y/n help him make dinner and be a bit more direct asking her what’s happening between her and Leo and do his best to push her into talking to him. Hazel was the final step, if nobody could get them to make up she would do her best to guilt trip them into speaking, she wasn’t sure how yet but she’d come up with something should the need arise.
Leo’s POV
Steering the ship late at night got boring, sure one of the others gladly would’ve taken over if he asked, but none of them quite understood how to operate the whole ship, well no one except Annabeth. Besides he wasn’t getting much sleep nowadays anywhere, maybe it was the impending war with Gaea, or the fact that his best friend hated him, but he was up all night all the time. If he was going to be awake he may as well be productive. So he steered the ship, checking the radar on occasion and talking festus when things got a bit too quiet. He knew Piper and Frank were on patrol and would eventually make their way in to talk to him, but until them Leo was left alone with his thoughts. He didn’t have any clue what he did to Y/N but he knew she had no reason to be ignoring him after she left him alone that night. Plus, he tried talking to her more than once to tell her how he felt, but she wouldn’t even give her the time of day so really she was the problem. Clearly that night together meant nothing to her so he decided it would mean nothing to him. He no longer loved Y/N. It would be much simpler that way. At least that’s what he told himself as the exhaustion started setting in.
“Look Piper, I know I’m not Leo’s biggest fan or anything but I don’t understand why Y/N just tell him how she feels” Franks voice broke through the steady beeping of machinery as they walked down the hall.
“It’s because she overheard him talking to Hazel and now she thinks he doesn’t like her which is ridiculous”
Y/N overheard him talking to Hazel? That couldn’t be right, she’d left and he didn’t see her all day. He thought back to that morning as he talked to Hazel when it clicked, he swore he had heard footsteps, it must have been Y/N.
“I get that, but why didn’t she just talk to Leo”
‘Frank, you’re the one who found her crying that night, she probably felt terrible and didn’t want to get hurt but talking to him again. We all know she isn’t the best at emotions.” Piper’s voice sounded weird.
“Yeah well neither is Leo.” That wasn't weird especially coming from Frank, but still he didn’t need to say it like that, “ But its pretty obvious to everyone but Y/N that he is head over heels in love with her. Maybe he just needs to give it one more shot, you know, talk to her alone and apologize for what she overheard and explain the full story. If he tells her he’s sorry and just explains he was worried she’d reject him, she would definitely forgive him and they could just live happily ever after.”
“Either way until one of them decides to be the bigger person and talk to the other, we’re in for a long ride.”
It was settled, as much as he would never admit this publicly, Frank was right. He needed to talk to y/n and he needed to do it now before she could hate him anymore. He put festus into autopilot and did his best to pretend he didn’t overhear Piper and Frank talking.
“Hey Leo, didn’t know you were still up” Piper said casually
“Of course, someone’s gotta keep this ship moving if were going to get to Percy and Annabeth in time” Leo forced a laugh, he didn’t really have time to stand here chatting
“Well we will be here all night if you need anything,” Piper offered
“Actually I have to run down to the boiler room for a few minutes if one of you wouldn’t mind keeping and eye on the radar, we don’t really have time to deal with any monster attacks right now”
“Yeah you got it bro, and hey dinner is in like 5 minutes try not to come back covered in grease or Hazel may kill you” Frank said with a smile
Leo didn’t even have time to think about how weird Frank was acting, like seriously when had Frank ever referred to anyone let alone Leo as bro. Still Leo was already on his way down the stairs to the living quarters, he needed to talk to y/n.
Y/N’s POV
Y/N was just about ready to go hide in her room for the next 3-5 business days, or at least until they reach the doors of death, whichever ever came first. She was exhausted, physically and emotionally exhausted. When she wasn’t patrolling or trying to come up with some sort of plan to save the entire world, she was arguing with Leo, and when she wasn’t arguing with Leo she was thinking about him. Actually she thought about him basically 24/7 but she didn’t want to think about that too much. Leo was a condescending little jerk, and he didn’t deserve the space he held in her mind, now if only her brain would get the memo. All Y/n wanted was a distraction. If she were back at Camp Half-Blood right now it would be easy to get her mind off Leo. She would just curl up with a book or do target practice with Will, heck she’d even volunteer for extra shifts in the med bay if it meant getting her mind off things, but abroad the Argo II the only distractions they ever seemed to get were monster attack and Y/N really did want one of those. So she settled on taking a nap. All she had to do was curl up under her blankets and at least until dinner she wouldn’t have to think about Leo and his stupid, adorable, obnoxious face. So that’s what she did it felt like she’d only been asleep for a few minutes when there was a pounding at her door. Y/n walked over to open it, surprised to see Jason there of all people.
“I need your help” He said looking but panicked.
“Yeah of course, what’s wrong” Y/n was concerned, it wasn’t like Jason to ask for help and she was the last person he’d come to normally. It was weird, something must be seriously wrong.
“I was making dinner and I burned basically everything and I mean you can’t even eat it and we only have like 20 minutes till dinner I need your help.”
“Can’t someone else help? I’m a terrible cook.” Y/N insisted, it wasn’t that she was all that terrible, it was just not something she really enjoyed doing. Baking on the other hand was her favorite.
”I can’t ask Hazel she made dinner the last 2 nights, Piper has never cooked a day in her life unless you count cereal, and Frank is Frank, he’d say yes because he’s too nice but he’d be miserable. Plus he’s already on patrol right now so it wouldn’t be fair to pull him off to help me cook.”
“Fine, I’ll help but you have to help me make breakfast tomorrow then”
”Deal” He was quick to agree.
So Y/n and Jason made their way down to the kitchen, there wasn’t any evidence of burned food but Y/N figured Jason had already gotten rid of it. The two of them worked side by side to make up a pasta dish that hopefully looked like it was the original plan. It was actually pretty nice, Jason’s no Y/N hadn’t had time to hang out in a while and it was nice to catch up. They talked about all sorts of things, what they wanted to do after the quest was over, their favorite movies, and Y/n least favorite topic as of late, Leo. Jason was good Y/N would give him that much. Despite her managing to avoid the topic so far he was able to sneak it in when they were talking about their favorite foods on the ship.
”I mean your breakfast sandwiches are killer Y/n but i really think Leo’s the best chef here” Jason laughed hoping Y/N wouldn’t snap at him for mentioning Leo’s name.
”I hate that you’re right” Y/n admitted, looking rather annoyed at herself for doing so.
”What happened between you anyways? It’s like all of a sudden someone flipped a switch and you went from loving each other to hating each other, did he do something because I’ll kill him.” Okay Jason was definitely being weird, he wasn’t normally one to but into peoples lives.
”I have no clue what you’re talk about.”
“Don’t lie, you guys were fine and now you can’t be in the same room without screaming at one another, so clearly something happened.” Jason insisted, Y/N just didn’t understand why he wouldn’t just drop it.
”Jason, seriously its fine,” it wasn’t fine.
”Look you’re both my friends, and I know all of us being trapped here can get intense sometimes, but he likes you and you like him. Maybe you should just talk it out.”
“And we are done here, I’m going to my room to clean up before dinner. I'll see you in 5.” And with that Y/n walked away effectively ending the conversation.
Gods, she should’ve known something was up. Since when had Jason ever wanted to talk about feelings, he was plotting something. Scratch that, Piper was probably the one plotting something since nobody else would be able to get Jason involved. Besides, he didn’t know anything, Leo didn’t like her and it was like nobody besides Y/N could get the hint and move on. She closed the door to her room before quickly changing out of her current clothes. Just as she was tying up her hair there was another knock at the door.
”Hey Y/n dinner is in like 2 minutes wanna walk up with me?” Hazel asked.
”I’m changing right now so just go without me”
There was no response, y/n continued to tie her hair up when there was another knock.
”Hazel I said go without me”
”Um, its not Hazel, can I come in and talk to you for a second?”
Leo. This is just what she needed, she could probably just say no and head up to dinner now right? Besides anything he had to say he could say in front of everybody else at this point. It wasn’t like everybody wasn’t up in her business anyway. She debated what to do for another minute when Leo’s voice rang out again.
”Y/N? Please I know you’re in there” He said it with a slight laugh, almost involuntarily she smiled, its like he knew she was trying to figure out how to escape the room without talking to him.
There was only one thing she could do at this point, so Y/N opened the door.
There was a palpable tension in the room. Leo shuffled in awkwardly unsure what he should be doing, is this the sort of conversation you have sitting or standing. Should he keep the door open? Maybe he should close it, the walls on the ship were pretty thin so if y/n decided to murder Leo someone would probably hear it. No he’d keep it open, that way if things went south he could just run away.
”What do you want Valdez,” Okay straight to the point, clearly this was going to be harder than Leo originally thought.
“I’m sorry.” Gods that wasn’t what he wanted to say, well it was, but he had so much more to say and he couldn’t find the words.
“Okay if that’s all then I’m going to go grab dinner”
“No that’s not what I meant,” Leo said quickly
“So you’re not sorry? Great talk Leo” Y/N began to push her way to the door.
“Y/n stop.” His voice seemed to echo in the room, y/n froze and turned around to face him. “Please Y/n, I need you to hear me out and when I’m done you can chose to hate me if that’s what you want but first i need you to listen, promise me you’ll listen.”
“I- I promise” Y/N had never seen Leo like this, he looked worried, upset, gods when she looked at him its like she could see all the sleepless nights engraved in his eyes.
“I’m terrible at apologies, I normally just make a joke and laugh it off but I’m not joking about this, I need you to know I’m 100% serious with what I’m about to say,” He looked at you as if waiting for you to shut him down, to break your promise instead you just nodded. “That night we spent together was basically the best night of my entire life and I was really happy because I’ve been in love with you for ages, basically since the first day I laid eyes on you. And when you disappeared without saying anything I panicked. I thought maybe it didn’t mean anything to you, I thought maybe you regretted it so I talked to Hazel. And I know I said some awful things, I said that I would never date you but I was lying, I was just hurt and trying to pretend I wasn’t. Gods Y/N I’d give the world to take it back but I can’t, and that’s what you overheard, me being an asshole because my feelings got hurt.
“And I know you had no reason to stick around but if you did you would know that i also told Hazel I was in love with you, not was am, I am in love with you. And I didn’t know you overheard me, Hazel told me I needed to talk to you so that’s why I kept trying and I wouldn’t leave you alone, and clearly you were mad at me but i didn’t know why at the time, and I know i was jerk to you and I can’t undo that but I’m hoping you’ll forgive me. Gods, I’m such an idiot and I should-“
Gods the boy could ramble forever if you’d let him, but you didn't have time for that. Instead you cut him off by kissing him.
”Wait, so does this mean you forgive me?” Leo asked
”What do you think” You laughed leaning in to kiss him again.
”Well I want to think yes, but I’m pretty sure we’ve established thinking is not my strong suit”
“I forgive you Leo.” His face lit up, “and I’m sorry too, my feelings were hurt and I didn’t give you a chance to explain anything, and you should know I only left because I was worried, I mean what do you say to your best friend after-“
“after you blurred the lines of your friendship and haven’t figured out what comes next?” He finished for you with a laugh.
“yeah”
“We really should get better at this whole talking thing, it would probably save us a lot of trouble.” He smiled, taking you into his arms.
“Speaking of trouble we should probably make our way up to dinner before one of them comes down here.” You smile and start pulling him to the door.
Okay so I know that about halfway through I started writing she/her instead of you but in my defense I stayed up all night writing this and also I’m literally just a girl.

hii i was wondering if you could make a leo valdez x child of apollo!reader
just like where the other apollo kids are overprotective and leo trying to convince them to let them date reader
i can definitely do this
-------------------------------
you weren't the youngest of your siblings by a long shot
not anymore
but the older ones still felt a duty to you from when you were only seven and came to camp
sometimes it was sweet
when they let you take point in capture the flag so they could focus on protecting you rather than getting the flag themselves
you have a vivid memory of being hoisted on the oldest brother's shoulders when you were ten and being paraded around camp when the apollo cabin won for the first time in months
sometimes though
their protectiveness was a pain in your ass
leo was unbelievably cute
so cute
so funny and smart and he honestly seemed to adore you
but every time you tried to go talk to him just the two of you
a darling sibling of yours would swoop in and take you by the arm
saying something about strategy or target practice
eventually you called a cabin meeting
'i think you all know why you're here'
they protested, saying they had no idea! what do you mean! they're innocent!
'uh huh, so you don't remember killing any attempt i make at spending time with my boyfriend?'
the oldest brother, jordan, sighed, resting his hands on your shoulders
'look, you're our baby! even if you're one of the oldest, we worry!'
even you had to admit, through your irritation, it was sweet
'alright, look, how about you meet leo?'
every face lit up
'no no no, not all of you'
sad faces
'just some of you, i promise you he's super sweet and you'll like him!'
which is how you ended up with leo sitting in the apollo cabin on a chair
they may as well have put a spotlight on the poor boy
you were sitting next to him, hand in his
jordan stepped up
'so, what makes you think you can date our sibling, huh?'
leo visibly swallowed
'uh, i-i care about them, a lot, and isn't it their decision anyway?'
jordan scoffed
'that's not what we're talking about, answer the question better'
leo was flushed a dark red
you squeezed his hand reassuringly
leo shot you a small smile and stood up
'okay, first of all this is insane, you realise this?'
every single sibling nodded their head
'okay good, just checkin'. okay, the fact that this is their decision is core to my argument, so just let me make it. if they decide to date me, doesn't that speak to my character? they are intelligent, wise, careful, they know that if i fuck up they have an entire cabin that will absolutely kick my ass in every concievable way- would they want to date me if they didn't think i was worth it?'
you were grinning madly, even some siblings were considering
leo continued
'sure, i may be a moron sometimes but i'm smart enough to realise what an amazing person they are, don't you trust their judgement? i trust that if they're unhappy or uncomfortable or anything, they will tell me'
he looked over to you
'and i am very aware that they can kick my ass themselves if it comes to it'
you nodded, smiling
'it's true, we've proved it'
jordan, as the leader of this interrogation, stepped forward, arms crossed
there was a tense silence for a moment before he relaxed, putting his hands in his pockets
'yeah, okay. you're right, i do trust them'
he winked at you
'don't know if i can attest to their smarts but-'
he turned back to leo
'-you seem prepared to accept the consequences if you should cause them any kind of pain'
leo held his hand out to shake
'yes sir'
jordan shook his hand
'now get out of my cabin'
leo saluted, pressed a quick kiss to your cheek and darted out the cabin
'so? we good?' you asked
you were swarmed by your siblings, practically gushing over leo
jordan ruffled your hair
'all good, kid'
-------------------------------------
i hope you enjoyed, thank you for requesting!

chapter eighteen | a dream is a wish your heart makes
percy jackson x fem reader
Tumblr media
Talking to Annabeth once during the summer, when you’d been thinking four times as hard as you usually did, she told you things you hadn’t known before.
Children of Athena were born from the thoughts of the goddess. You weren’t born like normal children were—the knowledge of which made you literally scream over the phone. You were simply thought up, and into existence. This meant most children were claimed at birth. Some, like you, knew of their mother. They knew what they were (or at least that they were different), and upon arrival to camp would find it easy to be sorted into their cabin.
You hadn’t had a clue. Your dad never explained it (though for a guy always invested in insurance claims and telephone calls, you weren’t surprised). But you couldn’t help feeling left out. Your mother gave her other children signs. Annabeth was scared of spiders (the same way you were), but Athena had guided Annabeth to Luke and Thalia. Cora had heard her mother’s voice in her head telling her to run. You had traipsed through life of your own accord, standing up for yourself and doing what you had to. There had been no guidance there. At times, looking back, you guessed maybe you hadn’t felt totally alone in things. But that was as far as it went. Your claiming at camp was the first sign of recognition that she must have been watching at some point.
Your dad wasn’t the outwardly loving kind. In terms of affection, you’d get a phone call now and again in Yancy, or an email with a smiley face at the end. You appreciated it. You took it as it came. That didn’t mean there wasn’t a void that didn’t need some kind of filler. Your heart was drying out, bones screaming for some kind of something.
And then along came Percy.
And everything began to change.
It was just that sometimes, you wondered where your guidance from your mother was. You almost craved it the way an addict craved drugs.
Which was why when you set your sights on the kids in the corridor, and you heard a woman’s whisper in your head, a shiver ran up your spine, and you spun.
Turn around.
You jumped viciously, walking backward into the kids and pushing them behind you. Dr. Thorn waited at the end of the corridor watching; you’d thought he was distracted, but apparently your plan hadn’t worked well enough.
Survival instincts had been a crucial part of many events in your life.
And they were strong right now.
Your body buzzed with demigod instincts, ready to fight. You pulled your knife from your jacket. You’d chosen it for its hold, and the shininess of its bronze-like colour. If you could distract him, and get the kids out of the way, your best bet would be to aim straight for the heart. The weapon was so sharp the point hurt just to look at, and your aiming skills had progressed insanely.
You had no doubt you could pull this off.
“Um,” Bianca shook behind you. “What do we do now?”
“We fight!” Nico exclaimed. You watched Thorn closely, not paying much attention to Nico. “My Zeus card—”
“Be serious, Nico!”
“You guys run through those doors,” you mumbled. You felt shifting behind you, so you turned to watch the kids take off.
You never would be able to fully explain what it felt like to be slammed against a wall, knocking all the oxygen from your lungs. It almost happened like a blackout, so quick you couldn’t even understand at first that nothing had been in place to put you there. You yelped, body smarting. Bianca and Nico had stopped, looking back at you for guidance, and the doors they’d been running for slammed closed. Pain exploded in your shoulder, clogging up your throat, squeezing your intestines into nausea. You swiped the air with your dagger, but nothing was there. Just the feeling of a cold, heavy hand pushing on the front of your body, keeping you in place.
Bianca looked at you in horror, and then to Thorn. You wished you could tell her it would be okay, but feared if you opened your mouth now the only thing to come out with be vomit.
You shoved forward in an attempt to dislodge the foot-long black spike that struck through your jacket and pinned you in place. An awful burning was taking place across your shoulder, beginning to run down your arm, hot and painful.
Dr. Thorn moved before you could see him. He was closer now, and Nico and Bianca were huddled together not far away. Bianca had Nico at her front, arms protectively over his shoulder and crossed at his chest. Thorn still looked human, but his face was ghoulish, something from a halloween horror.
“Thank you for coming out of the gym,” he said crispy. His voice had a slight French accent. ”I hate middle school dances.”
Your right mind screamed what, been to a few? But your survival mind said ABSNDKFNEKDKL!!!
You kept silent as he grew closer. Your arm tingled horribly, the sensation of pins and needles if the pins and needles were really jabbing in to your skin.
WHIIIISH! A second projectile shot from somewhere behind Dr. Thorn. He didn’t appear to move. It was as if someone invisible were standing behind him, throwing knives. In the dark hallway behind him, you searched for something that would tell you what was going on.
Bianca suddenly screamed, a shrill, cold scream, and you dreaded the worst. You turned your head—she’d moved next to you, and the thing had hit the wall just centimetres from her head.
“All three of you will come with me,” Dr. Thorn said. “Quietly. Obediently. If you make a single noise, if you call out for help or try to fight, I will show you just how accurately I can throw.”
You really didn’t want to let the kids know you weren’t doing so great. But Bianca looked at you and her eyes went so round you thought they might pop out of her head.
You chastised yourself mentally, nauseously.
Oooo, well done, idiot. Yeah, let’s run off without the others. You’re so smart. Definitely a child of Athena.
You walked down the halls, and wondered how on earth you were going to get somebody to help you. You’d come pretty much defenceless, you were hurt, and nobody knew where you’d gone. The four of you walked and walked, and you were beginning to grow desperate.
Until a whistle caught your attention.
Thorn stopped instantly and turned like he was about to proclaim the worst news on earth. Except he looked positively murderous.
“Which one of you was that?”
You shook your head. Your stomach spun. “Not me. I feel like I’m dying.”
“My poison causes pain, not death. Now move.”
He turned and began leading you outside.
The path he lead you down was snow-leaden and slippery. Some sort of instincts made you want to reach out and take Nico’s arm; he slipped over and Bianca pulled him up right away, before Thorn could notice. But vomit was in your mouth now, and you couldn’t move your arm. It turned heavy, a weight, and hot like you were leaning on a heat lamp, still being jabbed by invisible pins. You couldn’t have lifted your arm if you tried.
The path was dimly lit with old-fashioned lamps, casting a golden glow, and making the snow glitter. It would have pretty, you wished it was pretty. But truth was you were most likely walking to your death lest your friends came to the rescue. And, looking behind you, seeing nothing but dark woodlands, the chances were looking slim.
“There is a clearing ahead,” Thorn announced. “We will summon your ride.”
You blinked. “What ride?” you tried to be brave, but really there was acid running up your oesophagus. “Where are you taking us?”
“Silence, you insufferable girl!”
“Don’t talk to her that way!” Nico’s voice quivered, small and childish. He was clearly very scared. But brave.
Thorn made a growling noise. It sounded anything but human. Anything you tried now would be an attempt in vain. With your arm now turning numb and heavier, unable to move it, and two kids in front of you in your care, you began to let yourself panic. At first it was easy to hide your fear, but nobody had so much as followed you out here.
You had led these kids right to their deaths.
“Halt.”
In front of you was the edge of a cliff. It was jagged and uneven toward the end. Waves crashing and roaring could be heard. It smelled of sea salt and seaweed.
Thorn pushed you first, a firm hand between your shoulders. Only then, after turning numb, did you feel an awful prickling feeling, the worst feeling you’d ever felt, across your upper body. You looked at your hand, something you’d only just thought of:
It was purple. Your hand was purple and swelling, and if your hand was, so was the rest of your arm.
You gagged.
Bianca gazed at you, looking concerned. You wanted to laugh. The roles were reversed here.
“You okay?” She asked.
You nodded. Barely.
“What is he?”
You blew air from your cheeks. Your hair whipped every which way. “Honestly--”
“I’m scared,” Nico mumbled. Your heart ached.
“Stop talking!” Thorn bellowed. The three of you shut up. “Face me.”
You never had liked taking orders. Being told what to do and just doing it was not in your nature. Everything in you yelled fight back!!!
You glanced to the side. Waves still roared.
“I dare you, daughter of Athena,” Thorn drawled. “Save yourself.”
How did he know?...
“What did he call you?”
“It’s an extremely long story, dude.”
“I would kill you before you even reached the water,” Thorn continued. “You do not know who I am, do you?”
Were you supposed to?
Something whizzed past your ear--another missile-thing. It flew so close that you jumped, and right into its line. It caught your ear as it passed, and you were left trying to hold down the next set of vomit.
But something distracted you very, very quickly: a tail. A tail.
You’re shitting me.
“Unfortunately, Thorn said, “you are wanted alive, if possible. Otherwise you would already be dead.”
“Who wants us?” Bianca demanded. “Because if you think you'll get a ransom, you're wrong. We don't have any family. Nico and I...” Her voice broke a little. “We've got no one but each other.”
“Aww,” Dr. Thorn said. “Do not worry, little brats. You will be meeting my employer soon enough. Then you will have a brand-new family.”
Employer? You racked your brain for the only person you figured could be behind this form of kidnapping. The only demigod who had turned, who wanted monsters at his side.
“Luke Castellan,” you realised. “You work for Luke, don’t you?”
“You have no idea what is happening, daughter of Athena. I will let the General enlighten you. You are going to do him a great service tonight. He is looking forward to meeting you.”
Horror filled you. Those words could mean anything. You had to fight back somehow. You physically couldn’t...
It started with your attitude.
“The General?” you mimicked in a terrible, off-putting French accent. “Oh, so scary. Just explain, already.”
“I think he will enjoy killing you, first,” he tilted his head. Goosebumps ran up your spine. “He does not have want for those who defy.”
In the distance, you could hear the turning of a helicopter and wondered just where the hell this guy planned on taking you. It hit you, all of a sudden, the determination to look after these kids. Strong in your heart. Your eyes didn’t move from Thorn. And his eyes didn’t move off of you.
“Where are you taking us?” Nico asked.
“You should be honoured, my boy.  You will have the opportunity to be a part of a great army, just like that silly game you play with cards and dolls.”
“They’re not dolls! They’re figurines!” Nico spat. “And you can take your great army and sho--”
“Now, now,” Dr. Thorn warned. “You will change your mind about joining us, my boy. And if you do not, well...there are other uses for half-bloods. We have many monstrous mouths to feed. The Great Stirring is underway.”
The Great Stirring? Your first thought was a pot of homemade soup, and your dad’s wooden cooking spoon engraved with World’s Worst Cook! But figured now was not the time.
It did, however, help you to keep it in mind.
“What does that mean?”
“The stirring of monsters.” Dr. Thorn smiled evilly. “The worst of them, the most powerful, are now waking. Monsters that have not been seen in thousands of years. They will cause death and destruction the likes of which mortals have never known. And soon we shall have the most important monster of all—the one that shall bring about the downfall of Olympus!”
“Alright,” Bianca whispered. “He’s totally nuts.”
Anything to calm her nerves. “He’s totally on drugs. Probably Class A’s.”
“Class A’s?” She frowned heavily. You felt your expression change, though you could not put a proper name to how you were feeling. Maybe confused? Who didn’t know what Class A’s were? Surely in a military school setting, these children had been taught about drugs? Hell, you knew what they were even before school.
Something was wrong.
And the need to run was getting stronger.
“Listen,” you whispered. You eyed Thorn carefully; he was looking out at the sea, for something. “When I say go, we jump, alright?”
Bianca’s eyes went wide. “What?” she laughed under her breath. “Great. You’re nuts, too.”
You didn’t have any chance to argue with her.
A sudden force plowed into you, knocking you down hard. Your arm was in so much pain that the increased flare of it stopped any sound coming out of your mouth. Bianca fell on to you, injured side, and Nico on top of her, like a car pileup.
But the distraction turned Thorn towards you three, giving what seemed to be Thalia and Percy the chance to attack him. You’d say for certain, but the pain was so blinding with Bianca pushing on you to stand that your head swam, inner voice and thoughts diminished instantly.
So what was the alarming thing to bring you back to your senses?
The way Dr. Thorn’s arm changed from a limb to bright orange, huge paw. A tiger’s paw. It slashed at Thalia while Percy swung his sword with an anger you’d never seen before. He caught the back of Thorn, and he let out a yell of pure fury. He swatted Percy backward, and he hit a tree. But Percy had gotten him, and black blood dripped quickly to the snow.
Dr. Thorn launched another volley of missiles at Thalia. Ahh, you thought. That was how he did it.
He had a tail—a leathery, scorpion-like tail that bristled with spikes at the tip. The missiles deflected off Thalia’s shield, Aegis, but the force of the impact knocked Thalia down.
Grover sprang forward. He put his reed pipes to his lips and began to play—a frantic jig that sounded like something pirates would dance to. Grass broke through the snow. Within seconds, rope-thick weeds were wrapping around Dr. Thorn's legs, entangling him.
Dr. Thorn roared and began to change. He grew larger until he was in his true form—his face still human, but his body that of a huge lion. His leathery, spiky tail whipped deadly thorns in all directions.
“A manticore!” Annabeth said. You hadn’t seen her appear, so out of it. Her invisibility hat lay next to you on the ground. With one hand, you tried to stand, slowly.
“Who are you people?” Bianca di Angelo demanded. “And what is that?”
“An absolute bitch,” you groaned, finally standing.
“A manticore!” Nico gasped. “He’s got three thousand attack power!”
Thalia was still fighting Thorn, in a back-and-forth match that seemed to go on. A figure behind Thorn, by the trees, caught your attention. Percy, you realised, almost forgetting that he was there.
While Thorn was distracted.
In your weary state, arm feeling like it was no longer a part of your body, you didn’t recognise what was happening until it did. Percy sprinted over to you, almost sliding off the edge of the cliff. You practically collapsed on him, hating yourself for this.
“Hey, let me see. Dude, I swear if you don’t give me your arm.”
“Can’t even feel it at this point,” you mumbled. Percy grabbed you and with your good hand you swatted at him.
“Oh. Oh. Ew. Dude. What are your thoughts on limb loss?”
“Don’t say that!”
“It’s blue!”
Thalia seemed to be yelling at Thorn. The Di Angelos looked terribly alarmed. Thorn was shooting spikes this way and that, and Grover was desperately trying something. At your side, Annabeth patiently (if not a tad worriedly) tried to take to the kids.
Behind you, the sound of the helicopter was much, much louder. Your hair began to blow violently, and then you knew: it was right there.
Annabeth yelled. Thalia was on the ground, defeated, watching dazedly. Grover lay, eyes closed, in the snow. Thorn prepared to shoot. And Percy dropped you instantly. Your knees hit stones.
Percy skidded to his own knees when you did, in front of Thalia, shield raised.
Thorn laughed cruelly. “You are defeated, half-bloods. Give in.”
He went to strike.
A hunting horn blew and rang in your ears. Everyone fell silent, watching; waiting. Thorn turned his head slowly in the direction of the horn.
“No. It can’t be--”
His sentence was cut short when something shot toward him like a streak of moonlight. A glowing silver arrow sprouted from Dr. Thorn's shoulder. He staggered backward, wailing in agony.
Your hair whipped about, knees smarting. The helicopter lights lit up the area.
“Curse you!” Thorn cried. He unleashed his spikes, dozens of them at once, into the woods where the arrow had come from, but just as fast, silvery arrows shot back in reply. It almost looked like the arrows had intercepted the thorns in mid-air and sliced them in two. You watched, captivated. No one, not even Apollo's kids at camp, could shoot with that much accuracy.
The manticore pulled the arrow out of his shoulder with a howl of pain. His breathing was heavy. Percy swiped his sword, but Thorn wasn’t so taken aback as to be unaware of his surroundings. He knocked Percy aside.
“The Hunters!” Annabeth called, amazed.
Finally, you felt. Someone’s here to save us all.
“Permission to kill, my lady?” About a dozen girls came from the woods, armed with silver, heavy-looking but slim bows and arrows, all glinting and shiny. This one girl at the front held her weapon at the ready, armed well on Thorn.
When you first started out at camp, the idea of killing anything was wildly disgusting. Now, though?
Kill him. Get it over with.
“This is not fair! Direct interference! It is against the Ancient Laws!” Thorn roared.
“Not so,” a girl who looked younger than you spoke confidently but coolly. She had bright auburn hair and fair skin, bright eyes. “The hunting of all wild beasts is within my sphere. And you, foul creature, are a wild beast. Zoe, permission to kill.”
Thorn growled. “If I cannot take one alive, I will take them dead!”
It happened before you saw it coming. Thorn leapt at you, and you both tumbled in the snow. He was so much bigger than you, and with your arm the way it was, you could nothing but try to pry him off you with your free hand, kicking violently. You screamed and he yelled, spit flying. You were so close to the edge of the cliff. Your heart dropped.
The others around you screamed and shouted.
Thorn was thrown off course. You lay on your front, hands flat in front of you, holding yourself up as much as you could while gasping for breath, as someone was on his back. Annabeth.
Her blonde braids whipped her face, but it didn’t put her off. She jabbed Thorn with a knife, and he let out the most unhuman sound ever heard.
“Get back, half-blood! Get out of the line of fire!”
“Fire!” Zoe ordered.
“No!” Percy.
Arrows flew. They caught Thorn in the chest, and one in the back of the neck, missing Annabeth by inches. He turned terrifyingly fast, visibly angry, growling. “This is not the end, Huntress! You shall pay!”
And, at the edge of the cliff, Thorn fell backward off of it, plummeting to the sea and rocks. You heard a scream--was it you? You’d reached your hand out at some point.
Annabeth went with him.
Thalia and Percy Grover rushed to the edge, too close.
Above you, a boom sounded. Looking up, all you were witness to was a flock of black birds flying off, the helicopter gone.
And then there was silence.
The one called Zoe spoke first. “You,” she seethed.
You managed to roll over, sitting up. Your pants were soaked with snow.
Your fault. Your eyes drifted to Percy still sat at the edge, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape, just watching the water below. Your fault.
“Zoe Nightshade,” Thalia’s voice shook with anger. “Perfect timing, as usual.”
Zoe scanned the rest of you. “Five half-bloods and a satyr, my lady.”
“Ah, yes,” the younger girl said. Her own silvery eyes scanned the scene. “Some of Chiron’s campers, I see.”
“Annabeth!” Percy yelled over the edge. “You have to let us save her!”
“I’m sorry, Percy Jackson, but your friend is beyond help.”
Percy tried to get to his feet, face like thunder, but two of the Hunter girls held him down. Thalia watched Zoe with anger in every inch of her body.
And that was when you noticed Grover. Your attention drawn solely to him. He was walking to you, mouth twisted sadly. He knelt beside you.
“You okay?”
You barely nodded.
“Can I?...”
You wanted to say no. Having people start touching you was not on the agenda. But, like Percy had said, your hand was frozen-blue, veins pronounced and purple now. And Grover just wanted to help.
You’d never much liked Grover. But things like these, kindness like this despite the past, put things into perspective. In the end, you were all fighting the same thing, working together.
So, you could still feel iffy about him (and not even have to have him as a friend) but any help now would be beneficial for you.
You said yes. Grover helped you to pull off your coat and sweater, leaving you in your tee. The wind bit your skin. As far as you could see, the poison had spread to your chest.
You didn’t have a choice in the embarrassing thing to happen next:
Your eyes rolled back.
And you fell unconscious.
The sun warmed your skin. It wasn’t unusual for Australia, but considering the thermometer on the wall above the television told you it was into the hundreds, you were surprised you didn’t feel hotter.
“Your dad’s pretty cool.”
You jumped. Something nagged in the back of your mind.
“Yeah, he’s alright. Has his moments.” You answered without having to think, like it just came to you.
Turning your head to the side, you were surprised but also not to see an older boy lying on the opposite sofa, legs stretched and ankles crossed over the armrest. Sunlight passed through the mirrored wind chime in the window and sparkled lighter dots across his face, drifting this way and that gently with the wind from the fan on the wall.
His jaw was so sharp you swore it would have been able to cut your hand if you touched it. And his skin was so bronze, tanner than you knew somehow it had been for a while. His shirt rode up. Your stomach fluttered at the sight, and the boy grinned cheekily. You knew that smile.
Percy’s black hair was a mess, like he’d ran his hands through it. And those goddamn eyes, as bright as they could get, almost shone green. His arms settled behind his head, and some soft, calm Lofi music played from the radio on the black-tinted glass table between you both.
“I-uh—” you had to swallow before you choked on your words. “We should go to the beach before it gets too late.”
When you looked down on autopilot, able to feel everything like it was real life, your shirt slipped down, like you’d pulled it up a little beforehand. A loose, almost see-through white with tiny embroidered flowers in soft yellows and greens.
“I love you.”
Your breath caught in your throat. You blinked at the edge of the sofa, unable to move.
“Do you not always?” You weakly retorted, in an effort to not let on to how affected you were by his words.
You didn’t have time for his answer to reach you.
Because you woke up.
And everything came back.

New Flame - Leo Valde x FemReader Part 1
this is gonna be a series so like if you want a part 2 <3
here's part 2
Also it's Leo Valdex x fem reader
warnings - spoilers for HOO and TOA (no smut yet but maybe later in the series)
Hope you enjoy!!!
You'd only been at camp for two months. Yet everyone around you felt like family. Almost everyone was really nice to you. Super supportive when you got upset because you haven't been claimed yet. Annabeth and Piper kept telling you it was gonna happen any day now. But everyday passed and still, no sign appeared above your head. No people welcomed you into their cabin, so you still had to sleep on the big house's fold-out couch. Though your days were filled with archery lessons, sword fighting skills, and taking care of the pegasi, you still found time to let the overwhelming feeling of abandonment wash over you in terrible waves of hurt. But on one fateful morning you were awoken to the sounds of shouting and scampering feet shuffling outside.
"What is going on" you mumbled to yourself, quickly getting changed into your orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt and ripped Jean shorts. You opened the door and walked out to the porch of the big house just in time to see a giant mechanical dragon land on the far hill. Upon the dragon sat two people. One was a stunningly beautiful girl. She had caramel colored hair that made her bright green eyes shine against her honey colored skin. The other person sitting on the dragon was a boy. He appeared to be Hispanic, with curly black hair and warm brown eyes. He jumped down from the mechanical dragon and held out a hand to the green eyed girl. He smiled up at her and your heart fluttered. His smile was wide, showing off his dimples. His smile worked its way into his eyes and you knew in that moment, that he was In love, with the goddess-like girl. Somehow you could tell. You walked over and pushed through the crowd of people gathering around the dragon to find Piper. One of your closest friends since arriving at camp.
"What's going on? Who is that?" You asked her.
"Leo. He was a part of the prophecy of seven. We thought he was dead." She replied, tears brimming her eyes. You'd heard of this prophecy before. It had happened right before you got to camp. It was a terrible war between the demigods and the earth goddess, Gaea. The demigods had won but many were lost to Gaea and her army. The prefe y of seven was the biggest thing since the great prophecy and you guessed this guy, Leo, meant a lot to people. You could tell why. Just by looking at him your heart did little flip flops inside your chest.
"Leo Valdez," some people from the crowd shouted.
"The one and only" he said, smirking. Then out from the crowd raced Percy Jackson, Jason Grace, Annabeth and Piper. They all tackled him in a hug. And once they pulled apart Piper hit Leo in the arm, hard.
"What was that for!" He shouted, rubbing his upper arm.
"For making us think you were dead, dumbass" she counted smiling.
"Well," he started to say but Leo was cut off by Percy.
"Calypso" he said, directing attention to the girl who'd come with Leo.
"Percy," she said, "good to see you again." They smiled at each other and Percy gripped Annabeth's hand. You could tell there was some tension between the two. Whatever history they had, though, you had no idea about.
"Alright everybody" Jason shouted, "line up In front of Leo"
"Why?" Some people from the crowd asked.
"So you can get payback. This is the line to punch Leo Valdez" he announced and everyone scrambled to get In line.Leo laughed and sighed,
"it's only fair" Soon enough a line with almost every camper in it formed in front of him. You stood off to the side staring at the boy who was getting pummeled with punches, until Piper wrapped her arm around yours, drawing you into line.
"What are you doing Piper" you asked
"Come on y/n live a little"
"But I have no reason to punch him. I've never even met him"
"Well you're about too, and once you do" she sighed "you'll definitely want to punch him." Finally it was your turn. Piper went first.
"Hey you already went" Leo said
"Yeah, so?" Piper said and proceeded to punch him once more. Then it was your turn. You walked up to him and instead of punching him, like Piper suggested, you stuck out your hand.
"My name's y/n" you said and he shook your hand cautiously. When he hand touched yours a shiver of warmth went through your body. His hand was really warm. Not like uncomfortable sweaty palms, but a comforting warmth, like a comforting fire in the middle of winter. He smiled at you.
"Leo" he said, and you nodded
"Yeah I heard" and he chuckled. You walked off to stand next to Piper, hoping your cheeks weren't as flushed as they felt. And suddenly Piper gasped.
"y/n, look '' she pointed above your head. Right there floating in a silver hue was a beautiful swooping dove. You looked down at your clothing and saw that they had been replaced with a flowing Greek toga. Your face spread into a grin, you had finally been claimed. Your mother was Aphrodite. But as you looked around you realized that no one had noticed your sudden transformation. All they were paying attention to was Leo Valdez. The most important moment of your life and no one but Piper had noticed. Now you realized, you had a pretty good reason to punch Leo.

— nosebleed 。:゚headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
who is here: percy jackson, jason grace, frank zhang, leo valdez & apollo/lester
warnings: mentions of nosebleeds, swearing
a/n: It just occurred to me, I'm sorry, I just got a nosebleed and I'm my own muse.
Percy:
You are talking to your wonderful boyfriend about things about the sea and a drop of blood literally falls from your nose, Percy is literally asking if you are okay, if you want water.
Out of nerves, he starts to tell when his nose bled, and he almost exterminated to the world as if you had not been there.
“PERCY, I WAS THERE, FUCK PASS ME PAPER.” you scream, stopping drops of blood with your hands
And he runs to the bathroom for it.
Jason:
This man is very thoughtful, he is literally the first to realize that a drop of blood is about to come out of your nose.
“Honey” he calls you and the drop falls.
But he is a cautious man, and he takes paper out of his pocket. He cleans you and checks that you are okay.
“Do you feel bad?” he asks you for like the tenth time.
“Calm down, I'm fine,” you reply for the tenth time.
Still, Jason controls the air in your direction to cool you down.
and gives you kisses on your knuckles
Frank:
Frank doesn't let you react, he's already picked you up and is taking you to Apollo's cabin (if you're at camp)
or anywhere with doctors or nurses who can check you out.
He runs like his life depends on it (because for him, it does)
“frank, honey it's just a nosebleed”
“HEMORRHAGE” He screams like it's the end of the world and he ends up running even faster.
When they tell him you'll be fine, he continues checking on you for the rest of the afternoon.
Leo:
When you notice the blood touching your lip, you immediately stand up and make sure with your hand that it doesn't fall or dirty your clothes.
Leo looks at you and looks for a handkerchief, screaming and spinning around, then the idiot realizes that he literally has a magic belt and takes a handkerchief out of there.
When you are cleaning yourself, you feel wet tissues on your forehead and neck.
“It's because of the heat!” Leo says and as he gives you a nervous smile.
“I wish I could be Jack Frost right now” sure you smile at him, and he looks very confident, but he's really worried.
After a while, Leo's anxiety becomes even more apparent. “Are you stressed?”
“Leo, I'm fine” and he nods
but changes your tissues whenever they need more fresh water.
Apollo / Lester:
He is literally shouting and waving his hands.
then remember that he is the god of healing
He laughs lightly and does his magical things on you.
"You need a break" he says with a deep frown.
super god doctor mode activated
"yes yes" you say while he makes a tourniquet for your nose.
He taps you on the nose and kisses you on the cheek.
he knows that no one can take better care of you.

Leo Valdez x Son of Zeus!Male Reader Reader
"Hey, Leo." I said as he tried to scare me by hugging me from the back.
"Hello, Mi Amor. How are you?" I blushed at the name, he does everytime. I don't know why but it's cute, and it's him.
"Better now that you're here." I said, sighing, as I leaned into him and he held tighter knowing today was stressful... Because that was my usual response when the day was stressful.
"Well how about we go cuddle? Yeah?" He said playing my hair. I smiled and agreed to because it always calmed me down.
"Hey, Mi Amor, you're shaking, what's wrong?" He asked, anyone could tell he was concerned but I was afraid to answer, I didn't know and I also didn't know how he'd react if he got that answer.
"I-I don't know." I answered weakly coming in tighter.
"Shh, it's okay. Maybe you should take a nap." He cooed.
"I'm not tired, I just need cuddles." I said and he strocked my hair gently.
"ok, how about we do that and then we go do something? Ya?" He asked gently.
"of course," I answered.
"ok, but first, let's fully calm down." He said stroking my hair. I started to calm down and just lied in his arms for a half hour until I fully called down, it was dinner by then so we got up and left.
It was night now, and the middle of November. It was cold in my cabin and I knew I'd probably die in there.
"Hey? Do you want me to stay in there with you to keep you warm?" Leo asked me, of course I wouldn't deny it. He knew I wanted it and he knows me well enough to know I'm not exactly keen on asking for cuddling, or any help for that matter, so he tends to offer it.
"Of course you can, because I love you and it's freezing in there." I answered chuckling and shivering. Leo brought me over to the bed and lied down.
"I love you." I mumbled as I lied on his chest. I always mumbled when I was cuddling and I don't know why.
"I love you to, Mi Amor." He said as I noticed his body starting to heat up so I cuddled closer to him and held him tight. He did the same thing back. He started singing in Spanish and I was asleep in a couple of minutes. Just before I fell asleep, I heard Leo say 'Goodnight, Mi Amor.' before kissing my forehead.

omg hi !! about your leo valdez post I was thinking that a good song would be "love story"
My best friend helped me write this because I was stuck stuck but I loved the prompt and saw so much potential so I couldn't just not do it so shoutout to them fr ❤️
Love Story
Tumblr media
You were nervous. It was now winter break, and you were going home to visit your mortal family. This wasn't what you were nervous about, you loved them and you were excited to see them. The part you were nervous about was Leo. He was supposed to be going with you, staying with your family for the break. And your family hated Leo.
You didn't know why they felt this way, but you knew that when you had proposed the idea of Leo staying with you, they had turned up their noses. They had said yes, wanting you to be happy, but it was clear that Leo wasn't exactly welcome.
You had tried to warn him and apologize for whatever they might say or do, but he just smiled. "No sweat, corazón," he had said. "I can make anyone like me." Yeah... right.
The first week of winter break was... awkward. You'd spend time with Leo, but he wasn't allowed in your room. He would sleep in the guest room and you'd have meals together, but they were always tense. Your family grilled him with questions, but no matter what he said, he just didn't earn any points with them.
It wouldn't be until Christmas Day, when a horribly-timed chimera would attack your family's home, that Leo would gain their approval. It was 6:37pm, and you were just about to sit down for Christmas dinner, when it burst through the living room window, shattering it and causing your half-siblings to scream.
Thankfully, you and Leo were able to keep its focus away from your mortal family, but unfortunately, that meant it was focused on you. You and Leo fought side by side, him pulling item after item out of his toolbelt and setting traps, while you used your fanciest footwork and your (weapon of choice) training at camp to keep it sufficiently distracted.
It worked well for a bit, but one missed step can mean a lot in battle. You had stepped a bit too close to the beast, and one of its lion paws smacked you back, hard. You went flying backwards into the wall, hitting your head and slumping down to the ground.
You couldn't breathe.
You knew that you had to get up, you needed to help Leo kill this thing and protect your family, but you couldn't breathe or move, and your head was swimming.
What Leo saw was his partner, who he loved more than anything, get thrown against the wall. He saw you lying motionless on the floor, the chimera stalking towards you, its mouths salivating. He began to panic before jumping into action.
He jumped on its back, delaying its journey to you, but was ultimately thrown off. He became desperate and leaped in front of you, summoning fire to cook the sucker. Unfortunately, the chimera had the same idea. Fortunately, however, Leo was fireproof. The chimera was not. With one last bleat-roar, the monster turned to dust and crumbled to the carpet.
Immediately, Leo came over to you to see if you were alright. He helped you sit up and held your face in his hands, asking a million questions that you could only answer one at a time.
"I'm okay, Leo, really. You saved my life, thank you." He blushed a deep crimson but smiled. "Hey, I'm your super-awesome flame-throwing boyfriend. It's my job, mi rosa."
You were about to reply when your family came in from the doorway. "That was... what just happened?" Your step-parent looked confused. Your mortal parent just looked distressed. "Are you alright, y/n? What was it this time?"
Leo helped you off the floor and you faced your family. "Chimera, and I'm okay, thanks to Leo."
Your (mom/step mom) hurried over to Leo, grabbing his face in his hands before kissing his cheeks several times. "Thank you, Leo. You saved our y/n's life." She smiled at him before letting go of his face and hugging you tight. "Nah, it's nothing. I'd do anything for them." Leo blushed deeper, if that were possible.
Your (dad/step dad) made his way to the both of you, hugging you before patting Leo's shoulder. "You alright, kid?" Leo nodded, absolutely awestruck. He was talking to Leo! And there was no disgust in his eyes!
Sure, Christmas dinner had been a disaster, but Leo had gotten your parents' approval out of it, so he took it as a win.
~
The two of you still had to get the monster dust out of the carpet, though.
