Comfort eating may bring short-term gains but is detrimental to our emotional well-being as well as our physical health. It interferes with the processing of our feelings, which is the only way to really move them, while overloading the digestive system, creating problems throughout the body. To avoid comfort eating, practice eating with awareness. Apply principles of mindfulness to the business of eating. Mindful eating begins even before the process of cooking. Plan your meals and shop for the groceries in advance. You can always have a treat food (not entire meal) that you like and relish it thoroughly. When having food, be aware of every morsel you hold and eat. Take time to complete your meal in not less than 15 minutes. 15 minutes is what the body takes to understand if it is full or not. Parties, and especially parties you enjoy. There is no need to torture yourself and stay away from all the good food. Enjoy in moderation! * * 2. When you are super stressed. This might be the absolute worst time, your hormones change when you are stressed, not in favor of fat loss. This can only add more to the stress you already have. Try to eat around maintenance. * 3. On holiday. Enjoy all the new foods you get to try. Maybe try intermittent fasting to consume fewer calories why still enjoying the local foods. * 4. The holidays, do I even have to explain this one? * 5. Your birthday, the one day in the year where your loved ones celebrate that you are in their lives! Don't torture yourself and enjoy that slice of cake! * * 6. So when should you diet? First of all when these situations are not going on.
