You really mean to tell me that just because Ben and Mal completely lift the barrier it’s going to erase like 20 years of villain rage?
Gil even said TO BEN that Gaston wishes he could finish what he started by killing Beast. (Paraphrased)
Do they really think the villains are going to be like “oh how nice! I’m not angry anymore! La di da! 🥰🥰” after being forced to live in squalor for 20 years?
Not to mention I’m pretty sure there are some VK’s who liked it on the Isle, that liked the lawlessness of it. The ones who did take after their parents.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Gaston twins for example. I haven’t read the books, but looking on the Wikia has me believing that they kinda enjoyed the Isle.
I read a post on here that mentioned the Rotten Four randomly no longer hating their parents and how that’s bullshit and that also got me thinking- are they 100% sure that none of the parents might… idk retaliate against their kids who turned on them?
Idk I have more thoughts on it but I don’t have time to put them all down today.
TLDR; Ben and Mal lifting the entire barrier was a bad idea and I think it was stupid

Not a ask, but please do a rant on Lonnie's inconsistent family.
Tumblr media
Okay, so we all know that her parents are Mulan and Li Shang. So why the fuck is disney so werid about her dad being Li Shang?
Like in some areas, it will just list her fucking mom and not her dad. Which makes no sense since the other characters who's parents are both known always have both of them listed. Yet disney keeps being werid and dumb and just doesn't put his name down.
Like I know the sequels aren't canon but A) everyone ignores that rule and B) they were practically together at the end of the first Mulan movie. He showed up to her house looking for her. They were all over eachother looking at eachother with doe eyes. They were basically together.
Everyone knows it. And their older kid is literally named Li Shang Jr (which is a stupid ass name considering there are way too many juniors running around and since I heard it's apparently disrespectful in their culture to name a child after their parents).
So why do they act so fricking werid about it?
Also why aren't her grandparents and great grandma not mentioned? Why isn't Mushu and Crikee and little brother mentioned? Because as far as I'm aware they weren't?
And also apparently Mulan and Shang's 3 war buddies haven't met Lonnie? Apparently She hasn't met the child of Yao? Like, yeah, no. I don't buy that. They survived a war together and continued to work together. They cross dressed together. And those who cross dress together stick together.
Lonnie's family situation in descendants is just werid and frustrating in general. Then again I guess that's what fanfiction is for. To straighten out frustrating things like this. Still frustrating though.

even if i didnt love botw as much as i do, totk drives me nuts bc, similarly to pokemon, this series is so SO SO full of potential, they have so many games they can pull from, theres so many themes, characters and worldbuilding thats just left to rot, you dont need to connect anything with a chain to old titles, you dont need to bring back any things that already had their ending, but PLEASE harness at least a fraction of all this!!!! and they just refuse to do it beyond shallow references
totk jsut drives it all home to me, bc this isnt just the next game in the franchise, but a DIRECT SEQUEL no 10 years apart from botw, yet they cant even, they REFUSE to even keep the continuity with its OWN lore it established in botw together, and that, i think, is what truly makes me so insane (derogatory) about totk
it PROVES they do not care, they dont care to build on anything of the lore of old titles beyond references in form of amiibos or whatever, they dont even care to make a sequel to their most successful game in the franchise coherent with its own lore
botw established a captivating detailed world full of potential, while lacking in active storytelling, it had environmental storytelling, characters and ideas that were the perfect ground to build on-
and then they do away with it bc idk .. they want you to build mechs and make videos of it that go viral and thats all they care about or something
shiekah tech? forget that existed character being the character you know? act as if you are seeing them for the first time just like they are lame story? dont think about that just be distracted by the epic presentation of it lore the previous title established? forget that, all that matters is what is here and now beloved character from old games beign brought back? hes a new guy and has no background and no lore and just sits waiting for you at the end to have a flashy fight with references from old titles and their lore? just here for nostalgie bait, dont you remember? you LOVE this series, now give me 70 bucks for a glorified DLC that ruins what you loved about the series and makes you realize that nothign matters and nothing is interesting anymore
you are supposed to take it all at face value, to not think about anything, to see a character say something and just go with it, and forget it the second its over, be distracted by good music and pretty visuals, but dont think about, dont think about anything but what is directly said to you like you have no critical thinking skills, forget there was a game before this one, only the one you play matters, empty your skull and dont let yourself feel anything but what the game tells you to feel
if they dont even care to make the sequel to their most successful game actually build on the previous title, dont even care to keep their continuity of two games supposedly directly happening one after the other in tact- maybe they never cared, and all the meaning we thought we saw them build into their games was all accidental and meaningless
and that is absolutely soul crushing for fans like me to discover
its a game. its not a story, its not a world, its not themes, its not characters, its not lore. its a product made to make you pay money, not to make you think about anything.
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#i know it sounds silly to say this game makes me mad bc its so clearly a game#but do you get what i mean??#and the worst part is#they dont even keep the lore said in the SAME GAME in line#the people in hateno where links HOUSE used to be that is now ZELDAS not remembering him#the children acting like they dont know him#where has link been?#did zelda put him into the forest and just let him live with the boars?#even so the house is here so link must have been here to buy it-#but no forget that#its somethign that happened in botw and that never actually happened or mattered remember?#to have balloons and rocktes and people with WINGS in this world but none of them going up to the sky islands everyone is obsessed about`?#well its for YOU to play around with with meaningless rewards not for the NPCs living in this world#the godly goat guy and the hylian priestress directly saying zelda is their distant descendant to her and then#not show nor say not even hint at them having any offspring and then both die a stupid meaningless death to try and make you feel something#“doing the dragon transformation robs you of your soul forever and you will never return”#*returns via deus ex machina without even letting the player take any part in it but by -getting to the end tm-*#also i HATE how totk constantly dangles set ups in front of you#only to NOT follow up on them#the intro giving you a taste of what you might expect for- NOPE zelda is gone immediately its jsut botw but worse again lol#zelda getting the hang of her time powers so she might return to her time on her ow- NOPE dragon lol her powers are irrelevant actually#impa being the only one you can tell about zelda being a dragon and her going oh no im gonna search for a way to bring her back- LOL NOPE#its solves itself and you dont even do anything for it and just watch a cutscene#oh no link lost his arm and its beyond repair- LOL NOPE have your arm back like it was freshly made no matter how few of the light things-#you actually got- the things that where supposedly to battle back the thing destroying your arm#also howt he game gives you endless busy work without any good reward#krogs - mayoi signa - poes - scematics - lightroots - sign guy

How i feel about Umas new design but its copy pasted from the discord
yes to the braids and hat, hell no to the rest of the outfit
she looks like a doll, not uma
its just, super overdesigned, like u(Ash on discord) said, they're trying to go back to D2 without understanding what made the D2 outfits so good, the pirates had lots of design to them but they were never overdesigned, theres just so much going on in this new outfit that it feels like a big blur of brown and teal, nothings drawing my eye nothings catching my attention, its a boring doll design at most and and an overdesigned costume at the least
they also dont understand how the first 3 movie outfits were made, they were made woth intricate details that made the outfits feel, well, like the characters. These designers dont get that, they take a color pallet ans then slap the main motif on the character and call it a day, they dont think 'why does this character dress this way' or 'why is this their color pallet' so everything feels so flat and fake
plus they domt get why umas color is teal, shes not based off her moms main colors of purple and black, so they gave her thr color of her moms eye shadow, so Uma is teal and or turquoise, so thats her color pallet, and brown is her complimentary color so shes paired with brown and gold

Damon was incredibly protective and loving of Bonnie and ended up being her soulmate in the books, and the tvd writers thought “Hm, let’s make him a complete asshole to her throughout the entire show and hurt her at every given opportunity.” They took one look at how Stefan and Bonnie’s friendship was progressing throughout S1-S2 and decided to completely retcon it and started having him disregard her the same way everyone else did. You see, none of the main male characters were allowed to have actual meaningful connections with her because god forbid Bonnie be considered a potential love interest for them and not their self inserts. Damon can’t even tell Bonnie he loves her without them making sure to include “The same way Elena loved you.”
It’s the same reason why they didn’t have Bonnie attend the Mikaelson ball even though her being there made more sense than Matt or Caroline attending since the literal hostess was going to be siphoning her bloodline’s magic. She couldn’t be seen dressed up in a pretty gown like the other girls and dance with any of the male characters because again, god forbid Bonnie be held in the same regard as the other girls and ever thought of as a potential love interest for anyone besides throw away characters. It’s the same with Bonnie not interacting with any of the Mikaelson’s outside of her protecting the MFG from them. There are numerous connections between the Mikaelson’s and the Bennetts. Ayana Bennett was Esther’s mentor and seemed to be incredibly close to all her children. Abby desiccated Mikael, Esther wanted to use the Bennett Bloodline. Yet, not once are these connections explored. These could have potentially been some of the best storylines in the show, but that would have required the writers to not be prejudice and have biases towards certain characters.
But all this begs the question…if you’re going to make a character black or a poc so you can meet the diversity requirements, yet still neglect their character and use them as nothing but a shield to your white characters, then what is the point? Because I have no doubt that if they kept Bonnie’s race the same, she would have gotten the same opportunities as the other girls and wouldn’t be seen as just a mule. She would have still been poorly written, not debating that, but she would have been treated entirely differently by the writers and the fans.

jafar raised jay to be slippery and selfish but jay knew there was strength in numbers and decided to trust and love and hope despite everything else. and he protects these people that he finds, the only things his father can’t take from him, his own treasure he guards like the lion’s head at the cave of wonders.
he’s the last one out, there to watch their backs, as close to them all as their own shadows. he’s their third eye, always hyper-vigilant, always on the look out. he knows when to start a fight, and when it’s best to leave it alone. it’s nearly always best to leave it alone. he wrangles them all back in, keeping them safe so they don’t have to worry about injuries or repercussions or consequences. his job is to keep them safe, and keep them alive.
and yet, in auradon, with no brawls or street fights or leering parents or turf wars or rivals or enemies, what is there to protect them from? passive aggressive comments? pastels? afternoon tea? what is a guard dog with nothing to guard? jay has built his entire life, his entire self, around servitude. if it’s not his father, it’s his gang, always the helping hand and the shoulder to cry on (metaphorically, of course) and the reassuring presence. without any of that, he is nothing.
he is the thief that gives. the boy desperate to hold on to his only sense of purpose. it’s all he knows: give enough away and they might let you stick around. chameleonic, knowing exactly who to be where and when. the charmer, the heartthrob, the villain, the protector, the liar, the snake, the attacker. anything you need. he can be anything at all, as effortless as breathing.

thinking about percy jackson and peter parker
what if peter was never bitten by a spider? what if he was the son of arachne, and the only reason he's never had a run in with monsters is because his mother, herself, was a monster? a child of a monster who becomes a hero.
even if he made it to camp, how would that work with being spiderman? there would be no cabin to claim him, no god to pray to - he's smart enough to be an Athena kid, but the athena kids get agitated and wary just from being a few feet away from him, and they send off the smallest tingle in his spidersense. nobody considers he could be the kid of a monster, not a demigod in definition, but still mythical.
how would the other kids react? he's a child of a monster, and they all have traits from their godly parent. was peter destined to be a monster? sins of the mother, nature vs nurture and all that?
idk. just read The File by denimbeans (ao3) and now my brain is running on fumes. just interesting to me

Not to like simp for Jod like a devotee or anything but what if the permeability thing was Humanity leeching it’s cruelty and indifference into Jod that made him The Worst and now Alecto is the one that holds Jod’s purity and morality like Nona did before she remembers. Nona was Pure Jod.

Low key I hate how Chad (and pretty much every character except for a small handful except for Mal) became a comic relief character with absolutely no depth to him.
They could have done so much with him. They could have made him an intensely complicated character but nooooooo they had to go with the “whiny fuckboy who cries every time a hair is out of place” model.
Chad in the first movie? He was setting up to actually be a kinda cool character. Yeah, he was a massive douche, but picture it!
He was raised completely opposite to Cinderella. She wanted her baby boy to never want for anything like she did- he never had to do chores(not even homework!), never even had to ask for things. All he had to do was say he wanted it and his parents made sure he got it. So he turned into a spoiled, entitled brat who thought everyone owed him something.
Then he met the VK’s who gave him a huge reality check. Life wasn’t as easy as he thought it was and good/evil was more complicated than he was raised to believe. Did I expect him to 100% be their bestie after the first movie? Absolutely not, he still likely would hold biases and stereotypes but he at least would be slightly better. (Definitely still a prick but I digress).
Even Descendants 2 Chad wasn’t terrible, but I still think that was the beginning on the end of a potentially cool character. They were setting up for him maybe turning on his head and becoming the villain of D3– I remember when the teaser trailer came out and everyone suspected Chad would turn evil. It only made sense.
But noooo he didn’t learn anything and instead just became a whiny crybaby who hides every time things get tough, even though he has shown already he has smarts enough to manipulate situations to his advantage. Example: in the first movie when he manages to get Evie in trouble for just having her mirror in chemistry even though she wasn’t even using it.
He was smart enough to put it together: she’s the daughter of the Evil Queen, she has a piece of the magic mirror, they probably think she couldn’t naturally have the smarts to be good at chemistry on her own due to growing up on the Isle and who her mother is. So, logic kicks in: he claims she’s cheating. And he knows that because he is Cinderellas son? They’ll automatically believe him over her.
He could have been such an interesting character if they hadn’t made him comic relief. Chad in Descendants 2 was still a tolerable character, just slightly more annoying, while in D3 I cringed every time he was on screen. His character just had less and less depth each movie and I hated what he turned into.
And please don’t get me started on Chad in The Royal Wedding movie. Oh dear god please don’t. I hated it. Oh god. It was awful.
TLDR; They did Chad (and many other characters) extra dirty and I’m not happy about it.

I call bullshit. There is no way the number of royal students is that small and you know why?!
Here is the list of known royals:
1. Anxelin (daughter of Rapunzal and Flynn).
2. Aziz (son of Jasmine and Aladdin).
3. Ben (The literal king).
4. Arabella (Ariel's niece).
5. Ruby (daughter of Rapunzal and Flynn).
6. Chad charming (son of Cinderella and Kit Charming)
7. Audrey Rose (daughter of Aurora and Philip).
8. Chloe Charming (Chad's sister).
9 Ariana rose (cousin of Audrey).
10. Artie Pendragon (son of Arthur Pendragon).
Yes, it's including two deleted characters but I don't believe in deleted characters when it comes to books. And no, it doesn't include Ebie because of what Audrey said about the Evil queen having no royal status.
This list is 5 short of the number they listed and it doesn't even cover half of the damn princesses and princes' kids and grandkids.
And Coach Jenkins said in d1 that the team was a ton of princes to Jay. Why the hell would he say that if the team only had 2 or 3 princes (does Aziz count as a prince? I know he's royalty but what is his title?) That makes no sense.
So yeah, I call total bullshit on the number of royalty attending Auardon being only 15.
And why would you even count the number of royals to begin with and not the total amount of students you have? Why is it important thay they're royalty. Man, this makes no sense.
And on an unrelated note... why is there a teacher to student to fairy ratio?! How many fairies are at the school?
Edit: okay so Artie doesn't attend auardon prep so that's 9 but still.

Man, I know particle accelerators are a relatively common thing to exist, but I still can't get over the fact that they're so fuckin sci-fi in both concept and appearance, and that I've looked at one up close
I don't pretend to understand shit about high end science, but it does fascinate me. Back in highschool on our way back from doing multi-day community service work in bumfuck nowhere Minnesota, we stopped by an out of service mine that partially served as a tour site on how mines used to function, and on much lower levels served as particle acceleration/dark matter testing.
I truly can't describe the emotional journey experienced over the several hours of of getting into an 18th century vibe rickety ass iron elevator with an open front, and descending over two thousand feet beneath the earth past countless yawning maws of vacant mine shafts, having a tour largely in the dark explaining the grueling experience and mortality rate of working the mines, then descending further and walking into a cavern sporting the largest pieces of technology I've ever seen that look like some shit straight out of Star Trek, getting a spiel about dark matter, and then after having my mind blown at 17, traveling back up the terrifying elevator to emerge into a fucking gift shop

Can someone please explain to me how Disney’s Descendants had Hades (before he was revealed to be Mal’s father) going from looking like this in the cartoon shorts:
Tumblr media
Extremely accurate to his original design. No fire hair since I guess he’s supposed to look more “normal and human-like” but at least the hair style suits him. Looks like a slicked back, sleazy business man hairdo lol.
To frickin this?:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks NOTHING like his original design (not even with the hair) and hardly acts like the original Hades (he acts and dresses like a washed up rock star rather than a sleazy, bitter used car salesman, I could tell they tried to make up for it with him being all sarcastic and sassy, but it didn’t have the same effect the original Hades had).
So bizarre to me lmao. I mean, I know the original Hades is hard to replicate since his facial structure borderlines inhuman, but c’mon. I’ve seen the live actors at Disneyworld and Disneyland and I’ve seen cosplayers that do a better Hades than this. I know this is basically a big ol “modern fairytale au” of the Disney universe so everyone looks fairly human, but I mean, if you can’t look like Hades then at least ACT like Hades, y’know?
But then again, I’m not surprised because a lot of the original villains in the Descendants series were ooc. Like Cruella was no longer this snobbish woman who loves all things fashion. She was basically insane. Talking to a fake dog plushie and acting crazy while also having a huge fear/hatred of dogs. Maleficent was no longer the mistress of all evil, very regal and refined, and scared you out of your wits with one look from her. She was turned into this silly, quirky Broadway singing villainess that was obsessed with power. So…yeah, as I said, doesn’t surprise me that Hades’ personality changed in the movie series. But still as a Hades simp, I would’ve really liked to see Hades portrayed accurately.

another thing that i hate about the ROR designs is that for all the young villains-they all look-modern-everyone is designed to be in the same era when thats not the case! if Chloe and Red go back in the past when their parents/the villains were teens-it should be like-the 80s at the very LEAST!!! like half of those fukin villains shouldnt be in school together anyway becuase HADES IS A 1000+ YEAR OLD GOD FROM THE OLD GREEK AGE, Maleficent is like-from the middle ages!!!! they shouldn't be teens together, and oh FG WAS AN OLD LADY WHEN SHE MET CINDERELLAAAAA at the very least, if you're going to put time travel in a movie, DESIGN UR OUTFITS APPROPRIATELY. the teen villains all look like teens of the 2020s! they should look, older than that!

As a certified Springtrap simp, which backstory for William do you prefer: one where he was a good dad driven mad maybe by jealousy or the loss of his youngest child, or one where he was always an abusive narcisist that cared for nobody but himself?
i feel like the, "im evil so i must also abuse my creations and/or children" has been really overdone. like idk im just tired of seeing it personally. and the whole "haha!!! im craaaazy!!" thing we get in the comics also rubs me the wrong way b/c. thats not. how he's portrayed in the games at all. esp hearing him in sister location he feels like he would be a calm sort of madness. he seems like a rational guy. he doesnt talk like that. he doesnt act like that. it seems really contradictory
i feel like him being a good dad (or at the least caring deeply for his children) gives him more urgency and like,,,,makes sense w/what we're given. it aligns the most w/the theories we have asta why he started killing etc. i also just enjoy the tragedy of it. he started out as a good guy w/good intentions and then was twisted inta something unrecognizable b/c he was so focused on tryin ta reach his goal. personally my hc is that he was jelly of henry and then the death of crying child tipped him over the edge and started his whole killing thing. imo its better than, "hee hoo i was evil FOREVER!! im PURE evil and have always been EVIL!!!" like. okay. wheres the subsistence?? give him depth dammit
why would he build a robot for his daughter if he didnt love her. why would he tell crying child he would put him back together if he didnt love him (not really cemented as something he said, but i mean who else would say it?? certainly not michael he was a boy. i think as a fandom we assume its heavily implied). it makes the afton kid's deaths so much more impactful. the prospect of this man losing pieces of his life bit by bit and being driven insane by it is enthralling
i love a good chaotic descent. i love thinking abt him being consumed w/a need ta revive his own son becoming obsessed w/life and death as a result. oh the irony of loving your own kid so much you would take others children away from them, knowing how losing your own felt. and the twisting of emotions as he sees his son michael someone who he would've died for, try ta stop him. b/c hes not understanding, they need ta b together again. thats all hes tryin ta do. get his family back tagether. and all these fucking obstacles are in the way of his only goal. and the manifestation of hatred of his own son b/c of this. b/c hes getting in his way. like, talk abt juicy. i want that man ruined. it just adds a layer of psychological torture that i just adore. william fucking ruined everything. he ruined his own happy family, he ruined his own life, and if he actually mourns that? chefs kiss.
my thought is, why even have him have a family in the first place if they're just there ta demonstrate he's evil? seeing the afton family purely as a plot device, we already know afton killed kids. one can assume a person who kills kids is a bad person (maybe? see this is where the juiciness comes in w/him caring for his children. is it really bad from his perspective if hes trying ta save his kid? or is it noble?) so we dont need ta b demonstrated ta that hes a bad person again. if hes just pure evil from the get go it doesnt make sense ta me ta have the afton kids be prominent in the story (besides michael, but even then he could probably be replaced by one of the victims family members) when you could illustrate the same point by focusing on the kids hes killed and their families. why do the afton kids matter if he treats all children the same. why are we focusing so much on the afton family and what appear ta b major story beats in their story, especially since the children he has killed do not get as fleshed out as the aftons do. i feel like if his family wasnt important ta him we wouldnt hear abt it at all. you could achieve the same message by making him single and childless.
do u kno how many stories there are of "Righteous Child Of A Horrible Guy Who Hates Everything, Even Their Own Family, Goes Out Ta Stop Their Parent And Save The Day" there are? its b/c its too easy!!! its too easy for u ta assume that a character is the worst and has been the worst forever!!! its too easy ta assume that an evil character would abuse their family!!! its too easy ta assume an evil character wouldn't have traits besides jealousy, hatred and narcissism!!!!
