What is Rarepair Month?
From May 1-27, this event is dedicated not only to unpopular and rarer type of ships, but to any rare pair platonic/romantic!
As doing daily challenges may not possible for some, I am including weekly challenges!
Each week has a theme, and you can use that however you want to! You can replace a day’s theme with a weekly theme, write one fic per weekly theme each week, center a theme around the challenges, anything you want! How you complete this challenge is up to you!

Games I No Longer Play Due to Bad Fanbases
So this is a short list (yet long blog) of games that I used to like but no longer play or have any interest in due to issues like bad fanbases. Let me just say that, knowing about just how toxic the Danganronpa fandom can be sometimes, I don’t want to lose my love for that series knowing that some people in the fandom can be untrustworthy or just have different opinions from my own. I’m gonna try my best and explain why I stopped playing these games that I’ll mention.
UPDATE: So a lot of stuff mentioned here isn't really about toxicity in these fandoms, it's more like expression my opinions about these games since I've always had a minority opinion about them, and the fact that no one ever understood how I felt is what caused me to lose interest in them. I hope I didn't confuse anyone.
Devil May Cry and Resident Evil
So the reason I’m mentioning two games first is because this actually regards Capcom. Out of the two games mentioned, one of them is a game that doesn’t really have a bad fanbase, and that’s Devil May Cry. Resident Evil on the other hand has some issues, things like the live-action film series, Resident Evil 6, and a bunch of spinoffs.
The only games in that series I ever did enjoy looking back on them are Resident Evil 4 & 5. However, I stopped playing them since I’ve become fed up with the series popularity and the fact that people were oblivious to things like the badness of the live-action film series. I actually stopped playing Resident Evil right around the time I learned about Resident Evil 6 when it was still being made and could tell just from the trailer that the game didn’t look that good. I’ve been told that there is a lot of hate surrounding that game, but I still don’t have a clear picture as to what it is people hate about it. I just hate it because I remember reading somewhere that Resident Evil 5 was gonna be the series finale and was perfectly fine with it and found it pointless for Capcom to make Resident Evil 6.
Devil May Cry on the other hand, was the series that got me into the beat ‘em up/hack ‘n slash genres in gaming. Despite the very few titles, I still tried to enjoy it while ignoring the toxicity from some of Capcom’s other games. But unfortunately, that toxicity became worse when I started to suspect that Capcom was selling out. It’s hard to try and look back on it, but basically in the last decade, I didn’t like any of the new games Capcom was releasing, and I was becoming fed up with some of the crossover games they were releasing. Examples include:
The crossover with Tekken and Street Fighter
Mega Man’s appearance in Super Smash Bros.
Akuma’s appearance in Tekken 7
The crossover with Ace Attorney and Professor Layton
The appearance of Street Fighter’s Ryu in Super Smash Bros. became the final straw for me as I was dissatisfied with Street Fighter 4 and thought that it was a piece of shit game. Looking back on it, I still didn’t get what the hype was about Street Fighter and thought that compared to my favorite fighting games like Tekken, KOF, and Soul Calibur, everything about Street Fighter 4, from gameplay to opening theme song, just didn’t make me think it was a game worth obsessing, and the upcoming releases for the updated versions (i.e. SSF4 and UST4) just didn’t feel right for me. Basically, since Ryu’s appearance in Smash Bros, I decided to stop playing Devil May Cry because it didn’t feel right to still enjoy it if I wasn’t going to like the other Capcom games the majority was obsessing over, and to this day, I still haven’t played Tekken 7 because I knew that the appearance of Akuma was gonna ruin it for me.
Getting back to Resident Evil, there’s a lot of hate surrounding the film series and although the series is over, it’s unfortunate that the Resident Evil movies don’t have Razzie nominees. I’m of course talking about the Golden Raspberry Awards, that award ceremony that gives awards to the worst movies of the year, pretty much the opposite of the Academy Awards. More to the point, the Resident Evil movies don’t have Razzie nominees, not even for worst sequel. The badness of that film series is somewhere in between the badness of Uwe Boll and Michael Bay movies, and at least their movies get Razzies nominees. So at the time, I found it unfair that Hollywood kept making more Resident Evil movies and the Razzies were more interested in nominating mixed-received movies for categories like worst picture.
Likewise, the popularity and toxicity for Capcom games like Street Fighter and Resident Evil was just too obnoxious for me to handle and it was enough to make me lose interest in Devil May Cry, as well as not play games that have Capcom characters as guest characters (e.g. Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros.). In fact, there’s times where I’m annoyed by the toxicity of memes related to Ace Attorney and the Capcom Vs series. Knowing that my opinion about Street Fighter is negative, these memes are just pretty stupid, because my opinion about Street Fighter 4 is bound to come back to mind.
Guilty Gear
So Guilty Gear used to be one of my favorite anime games and one of my favorite fighting games. There are two big reasons as to why I stopped playing it, one of them has to do with the popularity of some of Arc System Works’ other games, while the other does kinda have to do with the series’ fanbase.
First off, it was bothering me that there were times that Guilty Gear was being treated as underrated compared to not only Blazblue, but also compared to other kinds of popular anime games like Danganronpa. I’m gonna admit that I’m in the minority that prefers Guilty Gear over Blazblue, and it was bothering me that Blazblue was getting all the things games like Danganronpa were getting but Guilty Gear wasn’t, an obvious example is an anime adaptation. Danganronpa aside, other great anime games like Senran Kagura, Neptunia, Persona 5, and Disgaea all have anime adaptations, but Guilty Gear doesn’t and yet Blazblue got one. Let me just say that I didn’t think Blazblue was as cool looking or as interesting compared to Guilty Gear, and it was bothering me that things like Guilty Gear having a lack of an anime adaptation made me think that people saw Guilty Gear as underrated even though it came out before Blazblue.
Here’s something else that makes Guilty Gear look underrated. There’s a Round 1 arcade at a mall I like to go to that has a lineup of 2D Japanese fighting games. Out of the games they have, they have all the Blazblue games, but they don’t have the Guilty Gear Xrd games. In fact, compared to how the arcade also came with games like KOF, Street Fighter, and Persona 4 Arena, I found it unfair that they included Blazblue but they didn’t include Guilty Gear. It almost made me feel sorry for Guilty Gear.
Moreover, the popularity of Granblue Fantasy only made it worse for me. That game also made Guilty Gear look underrated and it too got an anime adaptation, and the fact that it’s an RPG/gacha game and not a fighting game only made it worse for me to hate the game. In truth, I didn’t see anything special about that game and not only thought it was uninteresting, but the title didn’t sound original enough to convince me. Literally, it felt like they put no effort into coming up with a good or original title, Granblue Fantasy fell flat for me. Of course, I stopped playing Guilty Gear years before Granblue Fantasy came out, so I was more upset about Guilty Gear being underrated compared to Blazblue, and the popularity for Granblue Fantasy was enough to actually make me feel sorry for Guilty Gear.
But another thing that got me to stop playing Guilty Gear has to do with fan favorite characters. Not Dizzy, but that cross-dressing nun Bridget. Not only is Bridget overrated, but his popularity just feels really toxic. It was like, whenever I tried searching for Guilty Gear stuff in the fandom, Bridget was a character fans would reference for the majority. It felt like there were times where Bridget fans would ruin the things that Guilty Gear is really all about, things like awesome rock music, awesome stage designs, references to classic rock music, and some of the other more interesting character designs. To me, it felt like Bridget fans were trying to get people to think that he’s what Guilty Gear is all about, and it was just so annoying because not only did I find Bridget uninteresting, but it was more like everyone was obsessing him all because of the fact that he’s a fucking cross-dresser.
You’re free to call me a hypocrite for saying that about Bridget. I will admit that I do like the Danganronpa character Chihiro Fujisaki. I’d rather not admit that I fell for his trap since I found Chihiro to be cute, especially when he blushes, but at the time I got into Danganronpa, I did my best to avoid Chihiro out of concern that he had the same kind of obnoxious fans as Bridget due to being a cross-dressing male. But unlike Bridget, I’m actually over the whole Chihiro gender debate. His reason for dressing like a girl is more emotional since bullying is involved, compared to Bridget’s reason which is more idiotic, not to mention that Chihiro isn’t as overrated compared to characters like Nagito, Ibuki, and Kokichi who have some toxic fans that are almost as toxic as Bridget fans. In fact, Bridget’s popularity is more on par with Astolfo from the Fate series and his fans are equally as annoying.
A minor thing, but it was also bothering me that when it came to seeing Guilty Gear Xrd content, everyone was playing the game in Japanese. No one ever bothered to play the game with the English dub. It bothered me because it gave me the impression that people could think the game doesn’t have an English dub or the game does have an English dub but with terrible voice actors. I will admit that at the time Xrd SIGN came out, I did play the game in Japanese out of concern that the game’s English dub didn’t include professional voice actors, like the ones in Danganronpa. At the time, what came to mind was the spinoff KOF game, KOF: Maximum Impact. That game has a really bad English dub to the point that no one would be familiar with their names. Let me just say that there is some positive reception to that game, but the game's bad English dub and the lack of an option to use the Japanese dub (especially in the PS2 version) makes it almost impossible to play (the Xbox version fixes this by including the option to use the Japanese dub). If I remember right, in IGN’s review of the game, they thought that the game’s English dub was “piss poor”. When I realized that the English dub for Guilty Gear Xrd has professional voice actors, I did try to take more notice of it, but felt left out because everyone played the game in Japanese almost as if they thought the game had a bad English dub.
So to summarize, these are the reasons why I stopped playing Guilty Gear. I thought that Bridget had toxic fans, there were times where Guilty Gear felt underrated compared to Blazblue, and no one played the Xrd games in English. There are actually times where I do miss playing this series, especially with how even more underrated Granblue Fantasy made it, making me feel almost sorry for Guilty Gear. The only thing about Guilty Gear I can’t let go of is it’s awesome music. I think out of the character themes from the Xrd games, the themes for Sol, Millia, and Poketim (I forget how to spell his name) are my favorites and still like to rock out to them. But the other issues here make it impossible for me to try and go back and play the series.
Super Smash Bros.
I have some little info from people who’ve admitted that the Smash Bros fandom is toxic, but let me tell you what got me to stop playing this series. Plain simple, I got fed up with having to see third-party characters take the spotlight. Not only the official ones, but the memes for the unofficial ones made it more annoying for me to handle. The fact that the latest Smash Bros games are focussing more on third-party and not first-party characters felt toxic for me for two reasons. One, they were characters from games I didn’t enjoy, and two, it felt like Smash Bros wasn’t what it used to be back when the series was exclusive to Nintendo only games.
At the time SSB4 came out on the 3DS and Wii U, I did in fact play the game on the 3DS but only for like a week. I stopped due to suspicion that Capcom character Mega Man suddenly became the overrated fan favorite. Let me just say that Mega Man is a Capcom series I’m not into, and out of the SSB4 newcomers when the game came out in 2014, I was more hype about Pac-Man being playable, especially knowing that Namco had some involvement with the game’s development, so I wanted to believe that Pac-Man would make a great guest character. The fact that Capcom games like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Ace Attorney have toxic fanbases didn’t really give me any hype or interest for Mega Man, and the announcement of Street Fighter’s Ryu as a DLC character only made me want to hate Capcom for selling ou. Worst of all, the announcement of that Cloud guy from Final Fantasy was the last thing I needed to throw my copy of SSB4 in the trash and flame the game. Not only did I not enjoy Final Fantasy 7, but it didn’t feel right for Smash Bros to include that game partly because it came out on the PlayStation, so I’m on the side that believes that Smash Bros should only be limited to characters from games that have an importance to Nintendo’s history. Final Fantasy 7 had no importance with Nintendo’s history, and frankly, I failed to see what made the game so great, and the games popularity especially in online journalism made it so annoying for me to try to ignore it. Seriously, journalists never shut up about that game and the Final Fantasy series in general. I’ve played better.
Even with the release of Super Smash Bros on the Switch, the third-party characters from that game were enough to convince me to delete my save data for the other games in the series because these characters and their fans have destroyed Super Smash Bros for me. Some of them actually are characters from games that I thought were good choices because I admit that I actually like those games better. I would’ve loved to play Super Smash Bros as characters from Castlevania, heck, I wouldn’t mind at all playing Smash Bros with Terry Bogard from KOF. But having to deal with characters from games that I don’t enjoy such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest is enough to convince me to not play the game at all. And unfortunately, I’ve never met anyone who’s admitted that they’ve done the same thing as me, that they’ve stopped playing Super Smash Bros all because they didn’t like the choice of third-party characters and their popularity in both the fandom and the memes.
Assassin’s Creed
It’s not really the Assassin’s Creed fandom that got me to stop playing this, but it’s the Assassin’s Creed series in general. I’m on the side that says the Assassin’s Creed series just isn’t the same as it was ever since AC Unity came out and yet everyone still enjoys the series. It’s like this, Assassin’s Creed games after Unity just don’t feel like they’re gonna bring back certain things from the Desmond Miles saga. There’s obviously a lot of things about Assassin’s Creed from things like story and gameplay that get me thinking that it’s not the best series to introduce to someone who loves gaming.
It’s hard to put into words really. There’s lots of things about Assassin’s Creed that don’t make it perfect, things like broken gameplay and unexplained story stuff. Yet, everyone loves the series and are just oblivious to all the big flaws. One thing that has been bothering me about this series is that to this day, Ubisoft has yet to announce a game entitled “Assassin’s Creed 5”. The fact that games since Unity don’t have numbers in the title and the lack of references to characters from the Desmond Miles saga gives me the impression that they aren’t official games but are more like spinoffs. I know that the series does have some spinoffs, it just bothers me that Ubisoft isn’t gonna make a game called “Assassin’s Creed 5”.
And don’t even get me started on the Assassin’s Creed movie. I knew just from the trailer that it was gonna be a bad movie and the fact that the film is rated PG-13, as opposed to the series being rated M, only made it worse. Just because Assassin’s Creed has things like open-world gameplay, historical figures as supporting characters, and is a game where you kill people doesn’t mean it’s the best game series. There’s lots of things about this series I feel like people often overlook such as the ancient human race and its moments of broken gameplay. I don’t think the movie mentioned anything about the ancient humans, almost as if they were unimportant.
I’m gonna admit that I actually think that Far Cry is the better series. One other thing about Assassin’s Creed that bothers me is that Ubisoft tries to sell it as if it were a stealth-action game. Compared to the stealth gameplay in Far Cry, as well as Metal Gear Solid, or even Sly Cooper, the stealth gameplay in Assassin’s Creed is sometimes unfair, especially when you’re doing a mission that requires you to not get caught or it’s game over. At least Far Cry makes things fair by letting you play the game as a regular first-person shooter, so stealth is totally optional. Not to mention, Far Cry sequels stay true by including numbers in the titles. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out that they’re gonna make Far Cry 7, just as I wouldn't be surprised that they're not gonna make Assassin's Creed 5.
Overall, the fact that I accepted Far Cry as being better than Assassin’s Creed was the last thing I needed to say to myself that Assassin’s Creed is not the best series ever and is not as good as it used to be. Even if I played the latest installment, I’ll probably think that it’s not as good as the Ezio trilogy, which I’ve already lost interest in. It just bothers me to go online and see sites promoting the next installment in Assassin’s Creed even though I’m gonna be thinking that AC is not the best game series and the new games aren’t gonna be that good and I have no reason to play them. And did I mention that Assassin’s Creed sometimes feels like a broken mess?
In Conclusion
So to go over almost everything:
I stopped playing Devil May Cry because I was fed up with the popularity of Capcom’s other games that I didn’t like
I stopped playing Guilty Gear because people were treating it as underrated, everyone loves Bridget, and people barely played the games in English
I stopped playing Super Smash Bros because third-party characters and their memes ruined the series
I stopped playing Assassin’s Creed because the new games don’t look good to me, I prefer Far Cry, and no one else feels the same as i do
There are times where I’ll admit that I do miss playing them, but because of all of these flaws they have, there’s no point in going back to play them. As a Danganronpa fan, I honestly don’t want something similar to happen with my love for it, even after getting a better understanding just how toxic the fandom can be sometimes. Maybe I’ll blog about what got me into Danganronpa some other time.

At one time, I was a prolific writer, now I’m a busy commentator who flings an idea now and then when people seek me out. The one thing that did not change in either role was that I could not work on more than two projects at the same time -possibly three-otherwise, they would begin to influence each other. Perhaps I have a limited attention span.
Today, I opened my in-box to no less then ten of your potential projects, and at least four WIP.
That was today. In actuality, I believe that you have about seven WIP that have been active in the last ten days. I want to know a few things about both the ability and the methodology for managing this many projects.
First, I want to note that while all the WIP & finished projects are of the same Fandom, essentially, that is all they have in common. We have potential TV episodes, AU, OC, Angst, Hope, Illness and so forth. No easy bridges for immediate crossovers.
So what is the trick?
Do you keep each fic logged into your head so that you can pick them up at any moment? Do keep the detailed outlines close at hand, so you can review before you begin?
I can imagine that working on one fic my possibly inspire ideas for another WIP, or do all others remain outside your scope when actively writing? Do you ever conflate multiple WIP (bleed characteristics from one fic to another)
Do the 5X a character did this or that always begin as a group concept, or have you ever looked at prompts a say, “Hey! These ideas all share a them” and decide to combine them.
Finally, one of my absolute favorite collections of yours was the NighThrawn fics. At some point you broke them up up. Were they created originally to be a related collection?
I hope I’m not distracting the creative machine, too much!
Ooh!! No worries, I'm not doing anything creative at the moment 😆 I'm annoying my brother by practicing Louis Armstrong songs over his silent films. (Ain't Misbehavin'....fits really well with Sangue Bleu...somehow).
Um, let's see. I'd say that some days a fic really gets you. The long one I just wrote on Sunday, the 18K oneshot about a political prisoner coming home from the war and making friends with an "enemy" kid -- that's the sort of idea that comes at the right time, when you're in just the right mood, and you can breeze through it in just a few hours. It's like the stars align and everything goes perfect.
But most of the time I just really want to write and I like to have a full stable of ideas to choose from. Like, it's easier if you can just pull up a list, scan through it, and pick one. You can write 1K, and then when you get sick of it, you can pick a different idea and keep going. Spit out another 1K, switch ideas, do another...
I don't keep them logged in my head, I 100% forget all about them as soon as I switch to a different fic 💀 The only reason I get anything done is because Google Docs always suggests your most recent documents to you when you open it up in the morning. As soon as it stops suggesting a doc I basically forget about it forever. I definitely need the outlines to refresh my memory, and I've sometimes had to stop working on fics because I wrote my outline down in two different spots and can't find it or remember where I was going. Very bad memory for that stuff.
Hmm, as for conflating multiple WIPs, or ideas bleeding over, definitely yeah. Sometimes a seed will be planted in WIP 1, develop a little in WIP 2, get more interesting in WIP 3, and then become fully realized in WIP 4. To go back to the political prisoner fic, you've seen how that works. It's like:
What if this character was a political prisoner, and he got rescued, and then later he moved back to his hometown and met--
Oh shit BUT WHAT IF that traumatic incident I mentioned in Chapter 2 actually also involved Character B!
OOH and then what if Character A and B were both rescued by C--
Wait a second back to Idea 1, what if B and his wife were there at the end, and they--
OOH WAIT I really want to write that idea with the kid, back in his hometown, let me just--
Hey hang on a second I could totally finish Idea 1
And why have I never addressed A's abandonment issues? I'll mention that right now, in Fic #1, but I really need to add it to Idea #4 and write that as its own oneshot...
And for now, 6/7 are written, so that's not a bad record. I hope to do the last one soon. It was the same with Thrawn fics, you'd be halfway through a oneshot with a set plot when you suddenly think of a cool touch that you'd love to explore more, so you finish that fic and immediately start another one, where you go really in-depth. Or you think, "I would love it if this horrible whumpy trauma happened, but I really can't justify it with this plot. I should construct a whole DIFFERENT plot so I can write this scene!"
Hmm. I don't think I've actually done a 5 Times fic that started out as separate ficlets. I wish I did that more. It would work better. Usually, I come up with the 5 Times title and then wrack my brains trying to contrive six entirely different scenarios that are still interesting to read.
For the NightThrawn fics -- well, I got really into Thrawn/Pellaeon, but I didn't feel totally at ease with their voices and personalities. So I had a word generator spit out 30 prompts for me, and I wrote one quick and easy Thrawn/Pellaeon fic per day for a whole month. A little while later I realized how few NightThrawn fics there were, and it really upset me because NightThrawn was THE pairing for me after reading Thrawn 2017. I was totally flabbergasted that people shipped him with Eli! So I applied the same treatment, I grabbed a list of 15 random words and started writing. 15, not 30, because I had to prioritize a collab with NadiaYar. (Well, I mean, I love writing with Nadia. Any collab with her takes priority over whatever random time-waster I'm fiddling with for fun XD)
I think I originally posted them as separate ficlets -- then changed my mind and re-uploaded them as a single multichapter collection. And changed my mind again, and re-uploaded them all as separate ficlets XD Back then, too, I was always juggling WIPs. I remember the 30-day Prawn ficlets were coming out at the same time as Signal Lost // Contact Regained, so every day I was writing about 1K for Prawn and then racing to SLCR to complete my daily chapter and maintain my posting schedule. That got really frantic toward the end. I had a good head start but I ended up taking a month or two off SLCR entirely before I regained interest and wrote the ending.
OK I think that's all XD Thanks for asking, I'm really glad to see the Asker's Studio is back. It was a really bright moment for the Thrawn fandom imo and you made a lot of fic writers happy with questions like this. Your brand of insightful commentary and questioning isn't common in fandom these days -- and I'm sure it was NEVER "common", but even less so now, as fandom becomes more mainstream. So thanks again, and I can't wait to see who else you asked, and read their answers.

I try to/mean to then it goes past a few days and I wonder if people really want a reply from me. Then it feels like it’s too long, that I’ve missed the timeframe for it to be reasonable.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably In Darkness one of the many Torchwood fics that I wrote.
The ending lines being:
Because if living forever is a terrifying thought, then living forever and losing himself in the process is beyond terrifying. It's something that Jack isn't sure there's a word to describe the sheer horror of it.
Huddling against Ianto, Jack supposes that at least he's got all the time in the universe to come up with one.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Maybe New Horizons Canon Divergent SongXiao in the CQL setting (I tend to write novel setting)
The decision to help a small village threatened by a vicious yaoguai brings with it danger and upsetting news that Xiao Xingchen never expected to receive. With the news comes a choice, one that will change the course of both Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan’s lives in ways that neither of them expect.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, the occasional annoying/odd comment - like asking me to use US spelling grammar or to re-write in past tense as they didn’t like present tense, or leaving a ‘sadly unfinished’ bookmark in a completed big bang fic
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, not so much in recent fandoms - but I have ideas, but Torchwood and Primeval it was a bigger part of it. Most of it had a strong kink element. Generally with the focus being on trust
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Occasionally. The most ridiculous has to be Hex, Mainframe and the Temporal Trouser Error.
Discworld, Torchwood and Primeval. A conversation across time and space between Hex and Mainframe, two sentient computers.

Not that I’m aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I’m aware of, that is to say if anyone had they’ve not told me.

Yes, as part of a fic writing challenge event, Out of Dark Places, written with Harkpad.

Honestly I have many ships in every fandom I’ve been in. Although Jack/Ianto will always hold as special place, because it was that ship that really brought me into fandom circles.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Probably the ridiculously ambitious alternative 4 season of Torchwood, which used my fic Secrets and Hope as a bridge between series 3 and hypothetical series 4.
13 fic ‘episodes’ which were a mix of creature of the week and had an overarching plot behind it all, using the Rift and Bilis Manger. It was all plotted out, and some ‘episodes’ partially written - but the whole thing would have been something like 300k-400k
16. What are your writing strengths?
Honestly, I don’t know. People have said that I’m good at getting inside characters’ heads.

Too many thoughts and description and not enough action, probably.

I can’t write well enough in another language to attempt it.

An unlikely case fic crossover between Shetland and Rivers of London, written with fondness for the times I spent working on an archaeological dig in Shetland 23 years ago.
The theft of three Pictish stone carvings from a museum in London lead Peter and Nightingale to Shetland. The reason for the theft is clear: The stones are ancient storage devices for magical energy. Who took them and why is a lot less so. That Shetland has its own mythology and magics which are far closer to that of Scandinavia than London doesn't help matters.
Between the lack of information, the cold and wet January weather and Nightingale's cold, Peter can't help but wish they were back in London.

Chapter 1- Adore You (Verse 1)

The minute I walk into the kitchen, I know I’m fucked.
She’s sitting there on one of my bar stools, at my island counter, eating my strawberries straight out of the plastic container. I say “my” because I’m still in denial that I have to share this shit-hole with anyone. Especially her.
When I put the ad up online, I was skint and desperate. I would’ve taken anyone short of a serial killer, really, but I was hoping for normal. Or at the very least, boring. It’s just my luck that the only person who responded to the ad was someone so insufferable.
We were civil with each other for all of a day. Three weeks had me almost driven to moving out. Me. Moving out of my own damn apartment because even that is easier than living with Jude Duarte.
That’s when corona hit, so I guess I’m stuck.
It’s been a fortnight of isolation. Putting up with her unmitigated bullshit. Her ceaseless presence and mulish disposition. Our constant butting heads.
On a good day, I give myself over to the ashen taste of resignation. On the bad ones, I want to throw myself down the stairs just so I can spend the night in hospital.
Anyways, I’m fucked because my wretched flatmate is sitting there in her baggy black sweatpants and oversized hoodie. Her knees are tucked up to her chest, giving me a plain view of those stupid rainbow socks she’s always wearing. Her hair is a mess on top of her head. Everything about her sets off a tick in my jaw.
Except the way she eats strawberries.
Her full pink lips wrap around one now and—fucking hell. I swear my cock twitches. When she sinks her teeth in, those lips come away red-stained and glistening. A line of juice dribbles down her chin as she chews. Then, she pops the stem into her mouth and eats that, too.
I find myself imagining her on her knees, strawberry lips wrapped around something else of mine. The way the back of her throat would feel as I ram into her mouth—
I blink. My lip curls. I need coffee, and maybe a cold shower.
The former is closest, so I stop standing in the doorway like the twat that I am, and walk into the kitchen. Thankfully, she’s got earphones in and is so immersed in whatever the fuck she does on her laptop all day that she hasn’t noticed my blatant ogling.
If she notices me at all, she doesn’t acknowledge it.
Good. It’s better this way. The less we talk the less we end up screaming at each other. It’s only happened twice. The neighbors came round both times.
I pull a mug and the instant coffee down from a shelf.
It irks me. Just last night, I was standing in this very spot, doing everything in my power not to lose my shit after finding a pile of her dirty dishes in the sink. For the third time this week. She always says “they’re soaking”, and I always end up doing them later anyway, because I can’t stand the mess.
She does things like that a lot. Dishes and crumbs and wrappers. Stealing my food. A week ago I found a pizza crust jammed in between the cushions of the sofa. She denies all accountability, of course.
Not to mention, she sets her alarms for the ass crack of dawn. She’s such a heavy sleeper that I’m invariably wide awake well before she is, listening to the incessant shrill of her phone through the walls as she hits snooze, over and over.
I’m certainly not without my faults, of course. I know she hates me just as much as I hate her. She’s told me as much. Which is why I’m miffed that suddenly, without any warning, I want to fuck her into the kitchen counter.
There’s a spoon in the drying rack and I use it to stir my coffee.
Nicasia hated me, I think to myself. She loved me once, but she hated me for a while before she did anything about it. Then, I stop. Because I don’t want to uncork that bottle today. Point is, maybe it’s not completely out of left field. To want someone right when they’re giving you the very least of their attention.
I tap the spoon against the lip of my mug. Usually, I’d retreat back to my bedroom at this point. Instead, I throw the spoon in the sink and turn around to lean against the counter.
She’s still sitting at the island, honed in on her computer. I can hear the thin, metallic wail of a guitar coming from her earphones. She bobs her head slightly to the beat.
It’s not as if she isn’t attractive. In her own, unique way.
She’s strong. If I didn’t hear her pummeling that blasted punching bag she’s got hanging in her room every night, I’d have known she boxed just by the way she looks. She’s got a fighter’s build about her. It lives in her shoulders, in the barrel of her chest. As if every line of her was made bold and unyielding. With intention.
Again, I have to stop my own wandering thoughts. I’m starting to wonder if maybe my dead end job that has me editing bad romance novels for a living is starting to go to my head.
It pays the bills until it doesn’t. And then it rots my brain. Maybe I should quit.
Still, I tell myself it’s the quarantine talking. That if I wasn’t trapped in here with her, I wouldn’t find anything about her attractive. That I’d probably be willing to whore myself out for one cigarette right about now. And I don’t even smoke.
But then she looks up at me, mid-bite. Those honey-brown eyes are wild. They threaten to cut straight through me. She squints, accusatory. Chews her bite, slow. Swallows.
My mouth goes dry as the fucking Sahara.
“What are you staring at?” she demands, glare blazing.
Apparently, I’m in the mood to walk that fire, because I take a sip of my coffee and say, smug as I can, “You.”
Sometimes, it’s better to be completely honest with Jude. The truth always seems to appall her far more than any lie ever could. As if she expects everyone to be deceiving. Or maybe it’s just that my truths are so outrageous to her that she doesn’t believe them.
I wouldn’t blame her there. I can hardly admit to this truth, myself. Whether she believes me or not, though, it gets under her skin.
“Right,” she scoffs. “Is it because I’m pretty? Is it because you like me so much?” She bats her lashes at me, mocking. I am stunned by the fact that, for a moment, I wish it was real. That I’d gladly lose myself in that look if it came from her eyes in earnest.
Then I shake my head. I sound like the biggest shit-for-brains. It’ll take more than a few eyelash flutters to make me surrender.
“Oh, no,” I say, trying to match her taunting tone, “I don’t like you. I adore you.”
That makes Jude roll her eyes. “Please,” she says. “You’re probably plotting ways to stick me in my sleep or something. Fucking psychopath.”
It’s that last part that makes me take a step toward the island, lean forward to rest my elbows on the counter so I’m nearly in her space. She doesn’t draw back. Just gives me a scathing look from over the top of her screen.
“If I’m ever depraved enough to stick you,” I tell her, smirking, “I guarantee you won’t be sleeping, love.” Which may come off as anything from perverted to downright murderous, but I don’t care. The face she makes is worth it.
It’s all jaw dropped, vicious gaze, blush creeping into her cheeks like red smoke. I’ve never challenged her before. It makes her look at me like she despises me. Like the only thing she’ll ever do is despise me. I don’t know why that eggs me on, but it does.
“Would you look at that,” I hum, “You’ve got the face about right, too.”
Her nostrils flare. Jaw sets. There’s a lovely shade of puce coming up on her already heated cheeks. She’s absolutely livid, and I can taste it in the air between us. It’s like static on my tongue.
That’s when something cold and slimy hits me dead between the eyes. Jude’s half-eaten strawberry plops to the counter. I’m so surprised I almost laugh.
“You’re disgusting,” she says with as much derision as I feel coursing through me.
Part of me wants to give into that anger. Sling a string of curses at her. Throw the strawberry right back in her face. Those things won’t annoy her half as much as what I actually do.
Keeping an unbothered expression, I pluck the strawberry off the countertop and pop it right into my mouth. Stem and all. I lick my fingers for good measure. All while keeping direct eye contact with the little menace sitting across from me. Her gaze flits to my lips. So I swipe my tongue over them. She blinks.
“Delicious,” I say.
She looks just the right amount of scandalised for me to straighten, take my coffee back up in one hand, and saunter out of the kitchen. I don’t say anything about the strawberries. Or how stealing isn’t a very good exercise in courtesy.
We’ve never been courteous with one another, anyway.
When I’m back in my room I lean against the closed door and scrub a hand over my face. My heartbeat is raging since I did not.
Sometimes, I think the irritating things she does are all on purpose. Just to get under my skin. I rarely give her the satisfaction of knowing it works, but I don’t like letting her trample all over me, either. It gives me an oily feeling. Like I’m back to being under someone else’s thumb, and I hate it.
But that—whatever that was—felt more like fighting back than I ever thought I’d have the balls to do. I feel more alive now than I’ve felt in months.
Maybe that makes me a bastard. C’est la fucking vie.
I start shucking off my clothes, throwing them into the hamper in the corner, one by one. My bedroom is mercifully en suite. If I wanted to, I could live in here for days at a time without leaving.
I don’t know why I ever bother.
I go into the bathroom and turn on the shower. As I stand there under the cold stream, I think about how dangerous it is, this game I’ve entered. Flirting with Jude to get a rise out of her is one thing. That’s clear cut. A direct retaliation.
It’s another thing entirely if part of why I’m doing it is to take the edge off of my own perversions. I mean, what kind of sick fuck has sex fantasies about someone they hate? Someone they’re stuck in isolation with, twenty-four-seven, for the foreseeable future? Someone who hates their guts, too, and could probably easily take them out if it came to physical blows?
I guess that sick fuck would be me.
It’s a fine line to walk but there’s no turning back. I’ve already begun.

It's the year 2021 and you're obsessed with The Karate Kid. How are you feeling?
Deadasss weird as fuck, my dude. Like...out of all the things I could’ve predicted happening in our lord’s year 2021, it definitely was NOT getting hyperfixated on a hammy gay ship with a punk and a nerd from a goddamn karate soap opera. And yet...here we are??? I will never understand hyperfixations, my guy. But I’ve met a lot of really cool people in this fandom, so I can’t really complain.
Did you grow up with TKK or are you new to the series?
I have never seen a single Karate Kid movie in my entire life. When I was a kid, it looked kinda dumb so I never got into it XD But then I saw my roommate watching Cobra Kai on Youtube Red one day (he has every streaming service known to man) and I was hooked. And...here I am!
We gotta do the basics. Favorite character:
Literally EVERYONE except for Kreese, Yasmine, Kyler, and Tory, sorry stans
Okay but if we gotta pick, Johnny Lawrence is my Problematic Fave. Also I love my boy Daniel, he’s trying his best!!! And Amanda LaRusso, we stan a queen!!!
Among the kids, definitely Miguel, with Demetri as a close second. I also love Sam, Aisha, Moon, and Hawk (pre- and post-Bastardization Arc, anyways XD)!

Yes it’s Eli/Demetri because DUH, every interaction they have is so fucking gay and Eli fucking saved him!!! And came back to him!!! And how Demetri was willing to forgive him for everything at the drop of a hat because he always had faith there was still good in his best friend??? That’s TRUE LOVE motherfuckers. Please let them kiss in Season 4. I will sell you all of my limbs.
Sam/Miguel is a close second because they’re cute as shit and it’s just so lovely to see two people so unapologetically smitten with each other. They are in LOVE, and I will RIOT if they break up again!!! Keep Sam and Miguel together 2k21!!!
Underrated character:
SAMANTHA LARUSSO!!! The amount of hate my girl gets for acting like a normal teenager and fucking up occasionally JUST like the rest of the cast makes me want to start punching things. She cares SO MUCH about her friends!!! And she loves the shit out of Miguel!!! She hasn’t always been the best friend but you know what??? Neither has Hawk, and we still forgave his ass!!! Also LET HER BE FEMININE but also kick utter ass, my god!!! Femininity should not be synonymous with being weak, y’all!
ALSO DEMETRI, like yes, he likes to complain and occasionally run his mouth, but guess what else he likes to do??? Never give up on the love of his life his best friend Eli Moskowitz and refuse to lose faith in him no matter how much of a little shit he’s become, and I for one think that’s very badass of him. Also the way he takes care of Eli pre-Cobra Kai in his own snarky bastard way makes me absolutely Weak and needs more appreciation. Like the dude has charisma and COULD have probably made other friends and left Eli behind if he wanted, but did he??? No, he wants the weepy loser with the lip scar in the polo shirts and dorky sweaters and will protect him as much as his wimpy ass is able!!!
Underrated ship (don’t say therapy, lol):
Among the adults, Daniel/Amanda!!! Like maybe I just don’t watch that much tv, but it seems kinda rare to me to see a happily married hetero couple, and it’s just nice to see a married couple who genuinely love each other and where there’s not like...lingering resentment or some shit. I feel like this ship gets overshadowed by Lawrusso a lot (which like--okay, fair!!! Daniel and Johnny do have a ridiculous amount of chemistry, and the gay undertones are undeniable, so I get it), and it makes me kinda sad. I do love Lawrusso, but I don’t like when Amanda has to get her heart broke for it to happen, you feel?
Among the kids, honestly YasMoon. Like I really love the idea of Yasmine trying to better herself because of Moon’s influence on her and because Moon like...inspires her to be a better person, I guess? With their pretty strong friendship, it just makes more sense to me for Yasmine to get a redemption arc through Moon than through Demetri. ALSO girls DO often pull the whole “mean girl” shtick to cover up being closeted lesbians, and Moon IS canonically bi, so it could work!!! I just think this one could be a really interesting Friends to Lovers take, and could make a really nice coming-out arc for Yas.
And MoonPiper too, honestly!!! Like they only got 5 seconds of screentime so I understand WHY it’s underrated, but I still love what we DID get and loved that there was a canon gay ship (even if only for 1 scene lmao). I’m really excited to potentially see more of them in Season 4!!! Please, I’m begging!!!
Wax On, Wax Off or Sweep the Leg?
Sweep the Leg because it will always be deeply hilarious to me how Demetri took note of the first move Eli ever used on him and spent presumably weeks perfecting it OUT OF SPITE just to get him back with it at the soccer game MONTHS later. Just goes to show how OBSESSED Demetri is with Eli and their little karate rivalry which is just NOT straight, I’m sorry
Which of Daniel’s dumb little outfits is your favorite?
There’s something so funny about this pretentious little fuck walking around in fancy suits once he becomes a #SuccessfulBusinessman, and still occasionally trying to do karate in a full-ass suit (take THAT, Tom Cole’s boba!!!) I’m also a big fan of how he looks in his gi with his little headband. Still killing that look as a 40-50-something!!!

Tbh I have still never seen a single Karate Kid movie (they took them off of Netflix, RIP), so...I don’t really care if they bring anyone else back??? You know what would be fucking funny as hell would be an It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia crossover. Allow me to elaborate:
~The Gang goes to LA on vacation during the height of the Karate Dojo Wars. They literally can get barely anything done without all these goddamn karate-fighting teenagers getting in the way.
~They are all very annoyed by this. Even the most obscure of tourist attractions is eventually intercepted by karate fights.
~Mac tries to join Cobra Kai because he sees all this karate fighting on, and wants to unquestionably prove both his badassery and masculinity. Both Johnny and Kreese are like “Wtf are you doing here? Aren’t you like 30?”
~Mac gets a planet-sized crush on Johnny after all of 5 minutes and endlessly gushes to the gang about him. The gang mercilessly roast him about this and about how much of a pathetic loser with his life together in no way whatsoever Johnny sounds like. They proceed to have exactly 0 self awareness about this.
~The Waitress is in town visiting family or something, and Charlie is stalking her, as per usual. However, every time he’s about to go up and talk to her, a pack of battling Miyagi-Dos and Cobra Kais throwing punches and kicks everywhere blocks his path. One times, Mac is among one of these packs and Charlie is like “???? He didn’t get kicked out of that teen karate dojo yet???”
~Seeing how much the Kids These Days seem to like fighting, Charlie drops by a local high school to try and sell Fight Milk to the kids doing karate. Only Kyler and Brucks buy into it, and subsequently get the entire West Valley High wrestling team sick. Charlie is inevitably arrested, as Counselor Blatt thinks he’s selling the kids drugs.
~Dennis makes a plan to have sex with every hot chick he can in Los Angeles. He meets Ali on a dating app post-divorce, and inevitably tries to bang her. It doesn’t work.
~Frank crashes the rental car, and inevitably the gang ends up at one of Daniel’s dealerships. Dee quickly takes a liking to Daniel and is like “Watch, assholes--Imma homewreck this guy’s marriage.” She starts frequenting the dealerships to attempt to flirt with Daniel, until one day she walks in on him having sex with Johnny in a back room and she’s like “Is that the guy from Mac’s goddamn dojo?!?!”
~Dennis, of course, tries to sleep with Amanda. Amanda is not having it, and rebukes him in the most snarky, Amanda-esque way possible. Dennis is just like “Oh not AGAIN--the women in this goddamn diva city have too high of standards!”
~Later on, the gang is at the beach and Dennis spots the blonde lady he went out on an ill-fate date with, and decides to give it another shot--that is, until he sees her go up and kiss another woman and he’s like “IS THAT THE LADY FROM THE CAR DEALERSHIP??? STUPID-KARATE-KICK-COMMERCIAL’S WIFE?!? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.”
~Dee complains to Dennis about her lack of luck getting laid, and Dennis is just like “Oh come ON, is everyone in Los Angeles gay???” Smash cut to Hawk and Demetri having sex, Moon and Piper making out, Bert and Nate holding hands, Chris and Mitch doing oral, and Amanda, Ali, and Carmen having a threesome.
~Frank tries to scam Kreese into buying cheaply-made karate equipment for his dojo. The gang ends up having to leave LA because Kreese is quite literally plotting all of their murders.

Requests that don't specify will be answered with a bulleted list or possibly a short paragraph. There may be times I'm willing to fill some requests but not others due to time constraints, but that doesn't mean I won't ever fill them!
Fandom requests involving AUs and crossovers are welcome (ex: "Headcanons of how yandere Naruto in a wild west AU?" or "Headcanons about what would happen if yandere Ten and yandere Crowley fell for the same person?"), as are original requests based on existing media (ex: "Can I get headcanons about a popular girl type who has a Breakfast Club experience and ends up going yandere for the criminal?" or "Can you write a drabble about a yandere whose story is like this music video?").
Q: What characters do you write for?
A: I'll write for any character that I am familiar with, with a few exceptions for characters I'm aware of but uncomfortable with. To get started, here's a list of fandoms that I have a solid handle on!

As I implied above, I am also happy to write for original characters. Whether that means you telling me about your own OCs, or me creating my own characters for you down the line, either is great.
I will NOT be writing RPF or RPS. I do not approve of real person shipping and real person fiction makes me uncomfortable - if that's what you're looking for, there are a huge number of other blogs that will cater to your needs directly. Which leads me into...
Prohibited Requests, and Non-Yandere Content
Q: Will you fill every request you get?
A: I'll fill requests that interest me and that I feel comfortable posting, and that will probably be most of them! I am really excited to get started. But I still reserve the right to refuse a prompt - I'm writing for free, so no one is entitled to have their ask filled. If I choose to deny your prompt, I will answer privately and, if the issue is with content, update the blog so it's made clear that the type of prompt is not taken.
Q: What is and isn't allowed to be requested?
A: To be honest, most stuff is allowed and some stuff isn't. There's a lot of ground to cover here, so I've divided it based on the nature of the concern.
Q: Do you accept NSFW/SFW requests?
A: I'll do NS and SFW work, but I've got more experience with SFW content. This doesn't mean I do it exclusively, just that I won't think to go NS unless you mention it. Specify for NS and it'll be included happily!
Q: Do you accept violent requests?
Violence against non-SO characters and dub-con is okay always, as is situational or over-the-top violence, even murder, involving SOs (ex: "the yandere and their darling are soldiers on opposite sides of the war" or "the yandere saws off their darling's legs so they have to carry them everywhere").
However, there is some tricky area with violent fantasies. If I think the content strays too close to serious physical domestic abuse, then I'll likely deny the request. This is partially why I prefer requests that get violent to focus on non-SO targets, so if it doesn't matter to you, that's almost guaranteed to get a response.
Non-con I can mention and discuss in headcanon posts and possibly prompt lists, but I will not be writing drabbles or scenarios for non-con prompts.
Q: Do you accept kink requests?
A: It will depend on the type and whether I feel morally and psychologically comfortable with it. For example, hypnosis, size kink, gender stuffing, BDSM, roleplay, etc., are all currently accepted because they don't seem to affect me in a negative way. I am willing to do ships for cousins and step family, as well. However, I will not under any circumstances deal with r*ceplay, p*dophilia, fetishizing of trans people or people of color, or inc*stplay, and I will not be doing ship work for anyone more closely related than cousins, including but not limited to siblings, parents (blood or adopted), or aunts and uncles. None of this is negotiable. I am willing to consider AUs where two characters aren't family, or non romantic yandere behavior between family, but even then, the request's on thin ice. Anything super unhygienic or illness related is probably something I won't be interested in not as a rule or for moral reasons but just because it can exacerbate my anxiety and OCD. I also do not fill prompts related to minors at all, be it explicit/adult/sexual content or otherwise. Requests for characters who are minors will have them aged up unless otherwise specified - in which case you will promptly be blocked.
Q: Can I request a dark imagine that is not yandere related?
A: Of course! Just make sure to be specific about what you want from it.
Q: Can I request a ship or character imagine that isn't yandere or dark?
A: Yes, though I won't promise it'll be what you're looking for. I fall towards horror, thriller, and angst when I write, regardless of my intentions.
Q: Can I request something that's not ship or character imagine related?
A: Sure, I'd be honored, but again, I don't promise to fulfill every request. This blog is intended to be stress relief, self indulgence.
How to Make a Request
Q: How do I contact you for requests?
A: Asks, messages, replies on my original posts, and even more casual things like tagging me in yandere or writing related posts are all great ways to interact with me!
Q: When do you accept requests?
A: Requests will be opened or closed depending on how busy I am and whether I'm caught up on them.
Currently, requests are closed. However, I've decided that requests are reopened on my days off. The days should be listed in my bio.
Q: Do you accept anonymous requests?
A: Yes, I do! I also will not publish asks from users unless the user specifically clarifies that they are okay with it, just in case the user sent the ask from their blog on accident. User asks that aren't specified as safe to publish will be responded to privately when the request is filled.
Q: How will I know my request is filled?
A: As stated above, anonymous asks and user asks clarified as safe to publish will be published with a response. User asks without any clarification will be responded to privately. Anonymous asks asking for privacy for any reason will not be published. Messages will also get a reply. Users who send requests that are kept private will not be tagged unless you ask me to. Users with published asks will always be tagged in the final post, but it is totally okay to ask me to change or erase the tag! Other than this, checking for posts is up to the requester.
Other Kinds of Interaction
Q: Is there anyone who you don't want interacting with your blog?
A: Anyone complicit in nazism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia, pedophilia/MAPs, or any other politicized violence against a people is uneqivocally not welcome to engage with my work. I also have a zero tolerance policy for true crime fans who support or absolve serial killers. Please respect this - anyone who doesn't will be blocked. Anyone who pushes the issue will be reported.
Q: What about kink or otherkin blogs?
A: Honestly, I don't know much about either community. As of now, I'm fine with interaction. I'd ask that I not receive any kin related requests, because I am not familiar with the concept, community, and issues accompanying. Kinks can be requested but as stated above, are not guaranteed to be filled. Please don't bring discourse or discourse related requests here. I am not equipped to or interested in getting involved. If that changes, I have a main and other side blogs. This blog will never be a place for it.
Q: Are you okay if we interact with you or send you asks and messages that aren't requests?
A: Absolutely! I would love to talk with you. I am always interested in discussing any of the topics covered on this blog, or anything else for that matter! I pride myself on trying to be not just nice, but kind, and hopefully that comes through in every interaction. However, I'll expect the same courtesy from anyone who'd reach out to me, or use my posts to communicate to others for that matter. Anyone who doesn't will be, you guessed it, blocked. Anyone who pursues it further, yeah, will be reported.
Q: You have a lot of rules about requests and interaction, but you don't seem to post much and you aren't very active. Is this all just awkward and formal overkill, or is there a point?
A: I've explained all of this clearly, in as an accessible way as I can think of, because I want to eliminate the potential for drama, confusion, and other misunderstandings.
Online communities tend to be chock-full of plenty and I do not, nor does anyone who visits, need another reason to be tired. I'm not detailing all of this upfront because I expect to be very popular, or because I like listening to myself talk for paragraphs on end. I don't want a theoretical lack of information to be used to hurt either myself or others, though some of it shouldn't have to be spelled out in the first place.
But considering how ridiculously easy it is to misinterpret each other online, and how much of a disadvantage neuroatypical people like myself are when things are left just implicit rather than made what you could argue as exhaustingly explicit, I figured a crazy FAQ was a small price to pay for a peaceful environment.
TLDR: it certainly might be overkill, but that doesn't mean there is no point to it.
Q: What should requesters and followers call you anyways?
A: I'm fine with my username. If you're going for a different vibe, Red or Darlings sounds nice too. If you can come up with something catchier, feel free to try!

Absolutely no promise regarding the quality of the fic, I was a baby. But it's a neat bit of history to compare my old writing to how I write my comedy now!
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story:
On AO3, based on kudos, comments, and hits: Strange in a Strange Land. I'm quite fond of this crossover (LOTR/Doctor Strange) and I'm working on the last chapter now.
On fanfiction.net: My magnum opus, Pirates of the Ring. 45 chapters, 200k words, 7 years, and dozens of rewrites as I grew as I writer (especially the first 15 chapters). It was my first fanfic and it will always have a special place in my heart. This story still gets hits, which astounds me. But as you can see I have a thing for crossovers.
Favorite Story You Wrote: Asking me to choose my favorites between my children is horrendous. But for now, I believe that honor will have to go to Within the Shadows (MCU) due to the fact that it just wrote itself. I somehow regurgitated 16,000 words in about a week. I've never written that fast in my life.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: Hmm I haven't really been nervous to post anything since I was a teenager posting on a strict Tolkien fanfic site, well over a decade ago. But I've not written non-con, smut, or anything that may be more "nerve wrecking". I'll read most anything but I tend to keep teen and below for my stories.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: Usually with great difficulty. It's not uncommon for the title to be one of the last parts I finish in a story. Titles come from lines within a story (A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies), are inspired by songs (Dawn of Red Skies), or are rather straight and to the point (Strange in a Strange Land). One title that came almost immediately was "The Opening" because I knew there was going to be a chess theme throughout the story to match the "Endgame" title. Chapter titles in Dawn of Red Skies were all taken from quotes surrounding red, while in my untitled WIP are all from soundtrack titles of the two pieces being crossed over. So yeah, a lot of variety.
Do You Outline: Depends on the length of the story! For one shots, not usually. My outlines for stories less than 10 chapters long are pretty loose and informal and tend to have chunks of text in between notes. Anything over 10 chapters in the past for me (which was 3 fics, one never completed) were heavily outlined, though not necessarily in chronological order. One reason I know my pseudo!villain Stephen story is going to take for freaking ever is because the outline I have for it right now is 3 pages long and nowhere near complete. I truly have no idea when it will see the light of day. Hopefully before the second DS film :P
How many of your stories are…
Complete: 30 over 16 years (with a hiatus for 6 of those years)
In-Progress: 3; one discontinued, one that will need to be entirely rewritten if I ever want to try an epic for LOTR again, and then the last chapter for the DS/LOTR crossover.

Strange/Sherlock crossover: About 70% complete.

Question Time
@grundyscribbling has sent eleven exciting questions for my answering pleasure. Let’s do this.
1. What hobby do you do that might surprise people?
I really enjoy karaoke. I have my own karaoke set-up, which includes lights, a fog machine, and obviously the equipment for the actual karaoke. Because I started back in the CD days, I have continued to amass my collection on CD. I have over 3,000 unique songs with the performance rights in my collection, and I seek out the unusual (like, having an entire disk of Erasure songs). I also own whatever Playstation produces that’s karaoke-based, and I have played through The Voice video game many times. (And I always win.) I have even hosted karaoke parties at the college, and once I even hosted karaoke on a boat.
2. What are you writing/drawing/creating right now that isn’t ready to share but you would love to tell people about (in even a vague sort of way)?
I have already started the sequel to The Cottage of Lost Gay. I have an outline for it. If someone wants spoilers, let me know, I’ll share (it’s a google doc, subject to change).
I will put an excerpt under a cut at the end of this.
3. What’s your favorite non-fictional animal?

4. You can take a 48 hour vacation anywhere in the world. Time, money, and distance are no impediment. Where are you going?

They are friends as long as they don’t climb on me.

This one’s working out pretty good so far, but I’m also fond of the Klingon homeworld, Q'onoS (known to the Federation as Kronos). I am so fond of it that I was allowed in High School Senior English to write my final research paper on Q'onoS instead of some country of Earth, as the assignment officially stated.

“Do you have a minute to talk?”
Fingon took a shaky breath and pulled the blanket closer around himself. “I suppose, I might. Perhaps.” He looked to the open door of the bathing chamber. Maedhros was whistling a tune while he rested in the warm water. “I should--”
“Servants. Remember? They can do it.” Feanor snapped his fingers and one of the ushers entered from the hallway. “See to it that my son is aware of his husband’s whereabouts. We will be in the East Lounge.” The usher bowed and took up a silent position at the door. “Come.”
Fingon swept the blue blanket over his shoulder like a shawl and followed his uncle down the hallway. “Is there a reason we cannot talk in the bedroom?”
“Yes,” said Feanor, but he would not expound on that. It was only when he opened the door and Fingon saw his father sitting in the alcove of the window reading a book that he realized what was going on. “I do not think this is the right time for us to talk,” whispered Fingon to his uncle.
“You need to talk sometime.” Feanor gave Fingon a little push into the room, and shut the door behind them. Feanor pulled a wooden chair across the floor and set it just a few feet from his brother. “What are you reading?” he asked as he sat down on it backwards.
“Why are you in here?”
Feanor smiled, looked at his nails, and then suddenly snatched the book away from Fingolfin. “The mating rituals of deep sea mollusks. I am not sure if I am more surprised that this exists or that you are reading it.” Feanor tossed the book onto a table further away from Fingolfin while Fingon sat on a high-backed chair. “Alright. Your son is here. You need to talk.”
Fingolfin looked at the floor. “Good evening.”
Feanor sighed and rolled his eyes. “He is your son. Fruit of your loins. Look at him, dammit.”
Fingon frowned at the second sentence, but fought not to interrupt. When his father did look across the room at him, Fingon forced a smile. Fingolfin smiled back, but then his head started to droop again.
“We are not going to have a lot of time for this,” warned Feanor. “Either Father or one of the servants will pass by soon, and wonder about the closed door.”
“Time for what?” asked Fingon.
Fingolfin shook his head at his older brother. “I do not see how it will help to discuss something that happened so long ago that has no bearing on the present.”
“Because you need to heal, and he needs to hear it.” Feanor scratched the back of his neck. “And if you do not tell him, I will.”
“You were not even there!” warned Fingolfin.
“Father told me enough.”
The discussion ceased and the brothers stared at each other. “Can I go back to my room?” asked Fingon.
“I will tell him,” promised Feanor.
Fingolfin’s shoulders slumped and he rubbed his head. “You are only going to make things worse.”
“I think your mother-in-law did that already.” Feanor pushed his hair away from his face. “Did you know that your father--”
“Shut up!”
Feanor arched a brow. “Do you even realize that I am not saying this to shame you, but to help him?” Feanor thrust a hand in Fingon’s direction. “He needs you! He needs to hear this! He needs to understand where some of how you act comes from!”

1. What’s the weirdest thing you were ever inspired by for one of your WIPs?
Most of my story inspirations are super out there. I’ve been inspired by taking a history test, this video of Sebastian Stan, cool body paint art, the blue colander in my kitchen, Hubble’s Law, and this song, to name a few.
2. Do any of your OCs have famous face claims? If so, who are they?
I don’t really like doing face claims for my characters. I like people to imagine what they look like themselves. (Also, I never have one set appearance for anyone. Everyone’s looks are constantly changing until the final draft. And even then, I interpret them differently depending on how I’m reading the story at the time.)
Harry reminds me of Ming-Na Wen, though.
3. What’s your favourite season and why?
FALL. Or Autumn, whatever. The colors, the crunchy leaves, the scarves, the sweaters, the coziness. When it’s just cool enough to bust out my sweater collection and my boots. I live in the desert and fall is my favorite month of the year.
4. Do you have any superstitions?
My mom won’t throw away pictures (and as a result, I won’t, either). Don’t keep fortune cookie fortunes in the car. Spill salt, throw it over your shoulder (not because Devil things, but for Reasons). Knock on wood (if no wood is available, I use my head). The “Scottish Play” theatre thing. Respect the ghost light and the theatre ghosts. No whistling in the theatre. Actually, most of mine are theatre-based now that I think about it...
Most of my friends kiss the roof of their car when they go through a yellow light.
5. Rural, suburbs, city, in which do you live and which do you most often write about?
I live in a city! I don’t enjoy this city too much, though. Hopefully I’ll be moving to an even bigger city soon! This is an interesting question because my stories are often set in single locations, like single rooms and fire escapes and stuff. I think it’s an even split between rural towns and cities.
6. What’s your favourite book series?
The Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher! And The Gentleman’s Guide / Montague Siblings duology!
7. Is there a book/series that ever left you intensely disappointed? (Or one that left you pleasantly surprised?)
Most of what I read in college, HA. The only book I remember putting down was Replay by Sharon Creech. I was like 10 when I tried to read it.
The most a book has surprised me is The Secret Loves of Geek Girls. I thought it’d be a cool look at fandom and stuff, but NOPE, surprise, it’s a nonfiction collection by a bunch of badass ladies in the geek industry (comics, movies, fanfic, writers, tv, etc.) about love and life. It’s AMAZING. Please, for the love of all that is holy, go read it. I recommend it to everyone. There are three anthologies and they’re all amazing.

8. What’s one of the weirdest/funniest out of context lines from your WIPs?

I could make you an itemized list sorted by the level of weeping, but I won’t. Instead, here’s a short list of tear-jerkers off the top of my head:
The first ten minutes of P.S. I Love You. Yes, I know it’s the happy part.
Recently, a few episodes of One Day At A Time (#SAVEODAAT).
The animated short film One Small Step (saw this one with a friend in theatres. We both bawled openly in public).
One or two episodes of the new Queer Eye.
Big Fish
[there are so many that it’s getting hard for me to remember individual cries]
The plane episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. You know the ones. Ugh.
The last episode of the first campaign of Critical Role - oh my God thank the heavens my roommate was out that night I was a mess. And episode 44. And any episode that has really emotional bits (you know the ones).
The end of The Adventure Zone. Oh MAN.

10. What movies or books or shows do you think are criminally underrated?
Galavant! It’s so GOOD. I really like Babyface, which is a movie from the 1930s, so I dunno how underrated it is. The Magicians show is really good, too. The White Queen. Rat Queens. I follow a bunch of webcomics, too! They’re all amazing:
Heartstopper. Jamie. Autophobia. Miss Abbott and the Doctor. Wilde Life. Patrik the Vampire. Heart of Gold. Novae. The Glass Scientists. Finding Home. Magical Boy. Long Exposure.
11. Which fictional character would you like to steal borrow from any world for a crossover with your own WIP?
Felicity Montague would have a ball with my setting. Oh, man. Medical science and magic at the same time? A playground. I’d like to see how Harry Dresden handles himself, too. That’d be entertaining.
