As promised, I'm starting (late) autumn studying challenge by @myhoneststudyblr !

Doing long but quite repetitive and easy finnish homework but they say overlearning leads informations to long-term memory, so I'm not complaining.

On 2nd photo there is a printed calendar created by @darkmacademia. I absolutely love her calendars and am excited every month to print another one. Rly recommend! 🧡

1. What is your favourite thing about autumn?

I love how the temperature is cooling down a bit after hot summer and I can wear all these cozy autumn sweaters. Also autumn walks! There is nothing like going for a walk through the forest or park when leaves are changing colors and air is so brisk.

day 2/326 of studying

My Anatomy I and Histology I midterm tests are over and I scored highly enough on both of them. We also had a surprise simulacrum for Thorax I in the morgue with 40 pieces to identify, 30 seconds each. At the end, because my professor is really cool, we had a chance to review each one and I took a lot of pics. There you have, 13, it's the superior left rib facet of a thoracic vertebrae.

The beautiful calendar I'm using was made by @darkmacademia . It's so gorgeous that it distracts me from all the due dates that gets closer each passing day.

Hello all! This is my studyblr introduction post so you all can get to know me a little better!

About me ✨

My name’s Samantha

I’m in my first year of college, second semester.

I’m double majoring in Anthropology and Geography. My focus in anthro is archaeology and indigenous American studies, and I’m doing a comprehensive concentration in Geography (GIS, Food + Agriculture, City Development + Justice).

I am also minoring in Italian! Feel free to chat with me in either English or Italian.

My interests 🍃

I am incredibly passionate about Archaeology! I started college as an Astrophysics major, but after a minor existential crisis about what I wanted to do with my life, I decided to take an Introduction to Archaeology course. Instantly, I fell in love with the field (shoutout to Laurie Wilkie for changing my whole life trajectory) – it combines my passions for science, the humanities, and understanding the deeper meanings and stories behind the material culture that humans produce (whether it be grand Roman cities or garbage in Australia).

I work in an archaeology lab! Currently I am sorting through literally millions of potsherds dated from about 1000-1450 A.D. Mississippian culture, and we are about to move onto lithics. We are inputting them into a database, and prepping them for research!

Continuing on the archaeology track – I’m particularly interested in decolonization methods and theory in archaeology and migration anthropology. My goal is to do research in Central America/Southwestern United States.

My personal hero is Jason De León, a cultural anthropologist who created the Undocumented Migration Project and is an overall badass.

I am incredibly interested in social justice – particularly in the form of boycotts! I love learning about boycotts, participating in them, and I've been curating a plan to start my own soon.

I love music! I’ve played guitar for about 6 years now, I was a percussionist throughout my high school years, and I mess around on my keyboard very unprofessionally. Some of my favorite artists are Johnny Cash, FLETCHER, Childish Gambino, Glass Animals, Chase Atlantic, and I LOVE me some Santana.

Languages are another passion of mine! I studied French for five years, am currently studying Italian, and plan to continue learning languages for as long as I live.

Subjects I enjoy learning about: anthropology, history, geography, sociology, astronomy, literature, & politics

I love coffee, impressionist art, sci-fi shows, collecting records & books, being a horrible plant mother, and candles.

Why I created my studyblr 🌙

I created this studyblr to keep myself motivated throughout this strange COVID world, meet other studyblrs, and escape to a very aesthetically pleasing world every once in a while!
