Since I've talked about almost all the other important parts during my reread, I didn't want to forget the sealed god's test.
It's just... So good I'm not even sure where to start. Like, this is a moment where Cale really shines.
Cale. Rok Soo, which we're told means 'to always grow green, even in winter'.
And we see that in this test.
The sealed god throws him into one of the worst moments of his life, expressly to make him despair.
Instead, Cale takes that moment and uses it to rewrite the past, and erase all his regrets.
This is where we really get to see what post-apocalyptic Korea was like. And over and over again we learn how badly things went then, even as Cale makes sure it doesn't happen like that again.
We also see some of his years of experience, and maturity. Especially with how he handles Park Jin Tae, who was a bully and a tyrant - and also died in Cale's first life, fighting to save everyone in the shelter.
You can see what we've seen all along. Cale doesn't judge leaders by the petty stuff. He judges them on how well they take care of their people.
This is also where Cale, Choi Han, and Alberu really become an amazing trio.
Choi Han, who bargains a large chunk of his life away (just the time he'd be alone, as he ties the length of his life to Raons) in order to join Cale in his test.
And Alberu, who the Sun God helps possess a monster called the Dark Tiger when his real body is sleeping.
Those three are so tight knit now, it's beautiful. Real ride or die friends.
Especially when you remember where they all started.
It's also, as always, a time where you have to pay attention to the subtleties. This is Cale's past, and he's focused on making sure everyone survives... But Choi Han and especially Alberu can see the desperation, the struggle, and the near starvation of all the survivors. Alberu has a couple of moments when he's out of the test and giving updates to their friends, and you see him struggling. Because Cale asked him not to overly stress them (the kids especially) and basically say it's fine... And Alberu's like 'how can I tell them that?!?'
And then, naturally, there's Choi Jung Soo and Lee Soo Hyuk.
Younger versions, and not the ones Cale knew. But still, we get to learn more about his earlier found family.
We also see things going on back at home. Since his physical body is still there, his friends have to rescue him.
And we see how they're able to perform, even without Cale to call the shots.
We especially see how well Raon has grown, as he makes important decisions on how to find the monster statues.
Even more importantly, we have this at the end.
– Do you really think that this moment is the end of despair?
Cale looked down at the rose gold lights burning in his hands.
He opened his mouth to speak.
‘Is this moment the end of despair? No. Absolutely not.’
“This is just the beginning of the despair in this world.”
It was just the beginning.
Despair would reveal itself in many different forms in this world from now on.
“But people have hope now.”
After about a year since the world had turned into a mess…
The people who had always lost, struggled, and barely managed to survive will be victorious for the first time.
They would destroy this despair known as an unranked monster.
The sealed god who had been silent for a moment asked as if he was sneering at Cale.
– Do you have hope as well?
It seemed to be implying that Cale was someone who could not have hope.
That was how it sounded to Cale.
Cale slowly shook his head.
“No.”
He did not have hope.
However…
“I have certainty.”
Cale needed something more certain than hope. Finally, he had gotten it.
“This place will draw a different future than my past. I’m certain of it.”
He was certain that more people would survive than in his past.
He was certain that they would have better lives.
That was not speculation. Although it was a future that was yet to come, Cale believed it to be the truth.
In fact, Cale wanted to be the one to finish the first step toward that certainty.
The burning rose gold thunderbolts moved away from Cale’s hands.
He started to speak again.
“This is the first time I’m saying this to a god.”
Toward the silent sealed god…
To the god who had tried to give him despair…
Cale said the following.
“Thanks.”
He really meant it.
“My memories didn’t end in despair thanks to you.”
It's not that he defeated despair. That despair will no longer exist.
But there's hope, and he is certain that the future will be better.
And even more so - he is grateful that he had this chance to change his memories.
He took this thing that was supposed to break him, and used it to fix himself instead.

Why Him? Why Not Me?
Summary: In which OG novel Choi Han is jealous of a different timeline's Choi Han's life. Especially of his family and benefactor, Cale Henituse.
Warnings: Some spoilers for the novel (beyond the current point in the manhwa) and some angst as if the novel didn't give me enough
Choi Han is no hero.
Unlike the manhwas and novels out there, he was just a normal person.
Not a returnee or a genius or a reincarnator or a transmigrator.
But here he is, in a world full of unknown.
It's dark, scary, and lonely.
So when he finally finds people after so long, he rejoiced and latched onto that hope.
Only for it to be destroyed so quickly, and brutally.
So he sought revenge.
He fought for justice.
But the organization, no, the White Star was tougher and smarter than he expected.
He was outclassed in everything, magic, swordsmanship, and power.
Choi Han was simply not strong enough to protect his family from the leader of the secret organization. The leader that killed his family and possibly millions of other innocents as well.
He failed.
He failed.
He failed.
How he wished he could just go back in time so he could properly prepare against such a disaster known as the White Star.
But everything was too late.
(This was not a manhwa or a novel)
Everyone he loved has died.
His home was burned to the ground.
Even the crown prince, Alberu Crossman, was defeated and forced to submission.
In such a desperate and perilous situation, what should he, the hero of the Roan Kingdom do?
Pursue.
Get revenge.
When he does, the world is on fire.
It's a bloody mess.
It infuriates him.
He'd gotten so strong for what?
Then, he hears the God of Death, that infuriating bastard. Telling him of lies and of fairy tales that simply don't exist.
The God of Death pitied him.
What is a pity in this ruined world?
But then the hero sees.
He sees Rosalyn.
He sees Lock.
He sees Ron and Beacrox Molan.
He sees Alberu Crossman.
And he sees himself.
He sees himself, smiling.
Smiling at a redhead that Choi Han had long gotten rid of.
Cale Henituse.
Why?
Why?
Why?
His mind was filled with questions, before emotions.
Grief, regret, envy, jealousy, and fury.
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why him?
Fury overtook him.
He stepped out of the portal and grabbed Cale Henituse by his neck.
"Choi Han?! What are you- there are two Choi Hans?!"
The hero sees people he never seen before.
"Human!"
He sees dragons.
"Young Master Cale!"
He sees dark elves and elves.
"Cale!"
He sees believers of the Sun God and a necromancer.
He sees the Whale Tribe and the Tiger Tribe.
"Let go of Cale-nim." Through his anger, the hero saw himself of this timeline. He saw a different sword pointed at him.
The hero, Choi Han, gritted his teeth and then roared in anguish and self-pity.
"In another timeline, you are happy. And that person who made you happy, is a person named Cale Henituse."
"Cale Henituse! Why-"
"Let go, you bastard." The redhead unexpectedly bit back.
Dragon Fear? No, it was different.
Nonetheless, the hero has been pushed aside.
Ironically, the hero stood before himself of this timeline, someone who has not covered himself from head to toe with the blood of his allies, someone who has not dug his own despair, and someone who has not stained the world with his rage.
Oh God of Death, is this a punishment? The hero thought with the last bits of his rationality, which was stored deeply within him.
Where he has to see another world full of friendship and happiness he cannot get?
"Choi Han." He looked at Cale Henituse with a conflicted expression on his face. He growled back but the other didn't flinch at all.
"Why him? I lost everything. So why? Why does he!" The hero pointed his sword at himself of another timeline, the one who gets to be happy, who gets to have everything he doesn't have.
"Why does he gets to be happy?"
When the other didn't say anything, the hero grabbed Cale by the collar. For some reason, this Cale Henituse was not afraid, in fact, he raised a hand to stop the others.
Even so, the hero wasn't grateful for such a gesture.
"Why didn't you exist in my life? Why were you so useless in my life!?" For some unknown reason, his cheeks were wet.
A rough hand pulled them apart.
"Don't touch Cale-nim."
It's unfair.
"Choi Han." Cale Henituse stopped the Choi Han from this timeline from interfering. Instead, Cale simply looked at him with a conflicted expression.
If he had Cale Henituse in his timeline, would his allies live?
Would he be happy too?
"Why him? Why not me?"
Then, the God of Death whispered in his ear.
And the hero could only see his tears fall, as he too, collapsed to the floor. He feels himself growing tired, senseless, and lifeless as his vision slowly fades.
"Choi Han!"
When the last thing the hero saw was vibrant red hair, the hero Choi Han could only smile bitterly.
He grabbed Cale Henituse's hand tightly and watched the other yell his name with desperation.
How nice would it be to be in this world and be by his side?
How nice would it be if he was in this timeline?
How nice would it be to be happy?
Once again, the hero curses and wishes for the first time in a long time.
Let me be him, let me be happy by his side.
But he can't.
Because he's not the Choi Han from this timeline.
He's nothing more than a foreigner, an intruder, with an useless title of a hero on his head.
A fallen hero doesn't deserve happiness.
And the hero, Choi Han, falls.

We need love fact:
So I said before that Cale can sleep anywhere when he is around his Oldest Brother RokSoo or Choi Han right? I like to think that after the battle is over and there is nothing left, Cale will just lump over and Choi Han catch him, help him on his back while RokSoo walks side to side with Choi Han to discuss work. Cale knows his Oldest brother will summarize it for him. RokSoo knows his younger brother will not sleep if he knows there is still work so he decided to let Cale sleep first.
Ron often offers them both a Glass of Lemonade after Cale or Rok Soo did sacrificial things or overworked themself. Ron saw Cale as Puppy and Rok Soo as a kitten. They can be Wolf and Tiger from time, but still his little puppy and kitten.
Raon has older brother potential toward Cale than Cale. He will stop Cale from drinking too much(After he knows that Wine isn't good for health)
After knowing Choi Han's identity, Cale often calls him Ahjussi to annoy Choi Han. From time to time, Choi Han grown affectionate toward that nickname, but never let Cale know.
RokSoo can see it and think how weird Choi Han is.
Alberu looked deadpan at his Dongsaeng because he knows his dongsaeng had grown affectionate to call him Hyung too despite sometime RokSoo acting like he just said it for the Crown Prince's offering
Cale, the person who is jealous of everyone free to express emotion since he had bottled all his feeling, grown attacked by the Dark Elf Alberu.
Alberu who know this also support Cale too.

Second TCF NRC dorms post! This time it'll be Alberu/Alver (and also disorganized).
Honestly, Alberu could also fit into any and all the NRC dorms. He's a great leader that cares about both his people and the state of his kingdom. He doesn't want his kingdom to just be good, he wants it to be great, one of the best on the continent. (Heartslabyul, Diasomnia)
He's persistent and determined to succeed even if he doesn't have many resources, as seen in the humiliation test (no new clothes, no support from his father, people in the castle actively trying to sabatoge him, etc). He stays calm and collected even when worried and puts on a brave face to reassure others and intimidate his enemies. (Savanaclaw, Octavinelle, Ignihyde)
He's not afraid to use others for his benefit and uses his glib tongue all the time to make deals and get what he wants (even if it requires paying many many many golden plaques to Cale). Even his shiny, blond haired, blue eyed disguise is a tool to trick the entire kingdom into thinking he's not a Dark Elf. (Octavinelle, Scarabia)
He's both physically and mentally strong. He's combined magic with his skills as a swordsman, he wields Taerang skillfully and easily, and we know from the humiliation test that before he made Choi Han his instructor, he trained himself in swordsmanship and learned everything he could about politics to make up for his father's neglect. He didn't have to do all that, he could've settled for less, but he didn't. He went above and beyond to not only survive but thrive in the unfortunate conditions set for him. And! His mind and strategic skills are basically on par with Cale's (think back, how many times has the novel remarked on them being similar people? How many times has Alberu remarked that Cale is the one person to really understand him? How many times has Alberu immediately caught on to what Cale was planning and responded accordingly?) Alberu is probably one of the most strategic, resourceful, and adaptable characters in the novel aside from Cale. Besides all that, need I mention that Alberu adjusted quickly to controlling a huge monster, the Dark Tiger, in SGT!Korea? Or the fact that he was even in an entirely new world and was completely unphased??? He didn't even panic, just introduced himself and was annoyed at being told to roar later on (but still did it. (Scarabia)
So it looks like Alberu could also be the Avatar of the dorms, buuuut if I had to narrow it down, I would personally choose Savanaclaw, Octavinelle, or Scarabia.
TLDR:Alberu is the second Avatar, take your pick on which dorm suits him best

Ch 570
Oh man, the dark tiger possession scene is so much funnier than I thought it would be. Like KimRok Soo is trying to negotiate a deal and unwittingly looking cool and crazy to bystanders, and then Alberu posses the Dark Tiger and just introduces himself throwing KRS into major confusion. From his POV it’s probably like really impactful, but I’m just thinking wat it looks like to us (which kinda took me out of reading it but we). KRS is showing off in a way, and being like a munchkin lead, but then Alberu comes and technically ruins his plan. Alberu kinda got payback for all the times KRS!Cale killed the tension with truth bombs or surprise plans
