"Issue #28: Viscera, Shiny In the Light of Day"
CW: depiction of a semi-graphic animal heart on page 8
This absolute monster of an issue is one I've been incredibly excited to get to for months now. Deepdark is a very important character, as the primary antagonist, and he's finally gotten a real spotlight on him. At this point I'm really just writing original xenofiction too, which is fun. Yeah, this a Warrior cats story, you're getting a deer murder cult and you'll be happy with it.
One thing that I think it important to make clear is that Longest-Claws was not the "leader of Defiance before Deepdark". He was the leader of a group that Deepdark took inspiration from and poached several of its members, but Defiance is entirely Deepdark's creation.
Also, it's nice to finally reveal that Lingonberry is just Deepdark's original name! He took on 'Deepdark' after he killed Longest-Claws. Although they are not separate characters, I'll be tagging posts that refer to Deepdark's past with just 'Lingonberry' so as to not spoil any future readers who may be looking through the tag.
The animals featured in the big panels on page 2 and page 9 are cameos from the PATFW Discord, many of which are Defiance fan-characters. All of the characters and their respective creators will be tagged under the cut.

Hippolyta's baby egg warrior
Years before Diana's birth in the Era of Myths Before Themyscira existed, Hippolyta had found the egg as she was in this temple; she wasn't sure who or why she took it with her. But she did, and she took care of him pretty well. And out came a tiny boy. She and her sister, along with her father, Ares, took care of him. As he got older, Danny started to collect women and girls who weren't treated well and "kidnapped" them to her island. This wasn't how she wanted to build Themyscira! But it worked pretty well. And it had been a good idea to take him with her as the war against the Giants started. Her child was in front of the Gigantomachy! And Daniil/Daniel did pretty well, until his defeat by the Dark Giants. She didn't trust what Hercules told her, but after that, she closed her island to outsiders; the war was won after all. + After weakening the Giants enough that Arion could later finish them off, Danny was pulled into the future. At least what he learned helped in his fights against the ghost in Amity Park.
But it had been a fun adventure, and he hates that stupid seal! Stupid Vlad and wanting to make him his son, and then losing the seal! That is why he ended up in the egg. + Modern time Wonder Woman was captured by a cult that seemed to plan to use her blood for a ritual. And after she escaped and had a few cultists captured with her friends, She had no idea what the captured cultist was talking about as she left to visit her mother. The legend said he was Hippolyta's son; she would know if her mother had another child after all. + In Amity Park Danny noticed the glowing as he fought Skulker and was like, "Not again!" Before he was teleported and away back in an egg, the cult was happy! They summoned the egg; all they have to do is incubate it! And then they have their own warrior! + And as later Hippolyta learned about her egg having been returned by Diana. She and a group of warriors were on the hunt to find the cult and take the egg before it hatched.

The betrayal of red and green alliance is something that is really interesting to me
Like, Green managed to make an alliance with Red (the crazy cult-family team that dies more than anyone and barks at their enemies or even just because they felt like it) because neither of them want Blue (or more specifically Bad) to win because of their bloodthirstiness from the first days.
And it's kinda sad from Red's perspective.
Blue spawn camped them several times on days 1 and 4 so they will kill any member of Blue if given the chance but Green has been kind to them in comparison.
Red lowered their walls around Green members, around ElQuackity who is always trying to win no matter what but is not a genuine threat if you're decent at pvp and is easy to befriend, around Etoiles who will do what he has to do to win but fights with honor and accepts defeat with a "good fight", around Roier who could easily kill them but prefers to banter and have a good time.
Sure, the first few days were a blood bath, but when Jaiden kept getting killed upon respawning on day 4, Roier and Etoiles both went to check in on her. Upon getting there they probably expected her to be frustrated by dying so much but instead found her vibing and actively trying to litter her spawn with her corpses because she thought it would make it more intimidating.
Then Charlie showed up and Roier couldn't talk because he was sick but they started play fighting and Etoiles and Roier gave Jaiden and Charlie pvp training and then Cellbit got there and there was also an admin cat and Red died a lot that day but they had fun and they formed a tentative alliance with Green by trying their hardest to help Green get the win, they lost by a landslide and Blue ended up winning but they had fun.
Then on day 5 Green got their first win of the week and Red wasn't even that salty, Green deserved a win after all, but they would actually try to win on day 6, it's a competition after all and they can't make it too easy for Blue to catch up to them.
Red would rather Green win than Blue, but if Blue was last on the scoreboard or had few members active that day, Red would give it their all to win.
Red hadn't been there since the server opened unlike Blue, most of Red starts late, but they grind like crazy to make sure everyone has enough items to complete their tasks, Red shares everything after all, it's what makes them end up in first and second place when they're actually trying. They are constantly coordinating, constantly talking to each other, they are a family and no one is left behind if they can help it. Honesty and trust are very important to them.
The Red team is made up almost entirely out of roleplayers, but no one can deny that they're all hard workers, so they spend the day grinding the materials they need for the personal quests and the egg tasks and spend a good amount of their day trying and failing to do the hardest task of the day, kill Pac twice. They try and fail and try and fail and they give up to concentrate on fortifying their egg base, they're on first place after all, and Green somehow hasn't caught up to them despite having more team members active that day.
The sky turns red, almost like a sign that they already won, it's the last hour after all, they might not have gotten to kill Pac but Green didn't get their kill either so it doesn't matter.
Bad calls them and makes an offer that they don't take, he is their worst enemy after all, a spawn camper with no honor who bows down people who want an honest stick fight from afar. Bad tells them he has made the same offer to Green and that they didn't take it either, Etoiles is an honorable warrior and as much as he wants to win there's no honor in this, Red knows he won't take the deal even if Bad offers again, Green has as much beef with Bad as they do, so they're not worried even as Foolish gets a message that was most likely meant for Forever that implies they're meeting for something.
The same message shows up three times in quick succession, Forever has killed Bad and Green is now on first place. Green has made a deal with the devil.
Really, they should have seen this coming, you can't really trust anyone here. Their friends have betrayed them.
Except they haven't, not really. Two of their team members have gone behind the others backs to make this deal, Etoiles and Roier weren't told of it and they both like to play fair, they are winning and they don't like it, it's not fair to their Red friends who spent the entire day working just as hard as them to win. This is a cheap win, an underhanded tactic that they do not approve of, and they tell Foolish as time is running out. They can only hope their alliance with Red as a team has not been entirely ruined by this and that Foolish can explain to the rest of Red.
Foolish goes back to the Red call and tries to say something, but gets immediately sidetracked and forgets and starts helping with last minute preparations for the war tomorrow.
Red is salty, of course. Their hard work has gone to waste as they haven't won and haven't earned the immunity totem for their egg. They can't trust anyone outside of their team-cult-family.
They shouldn't have lowered their walls in the first place.

McKenzie Elvin is the love of my life I will only make sure she is happy while we experience life that we missed during the dark periods the i80 i90 corridor came under over the past 10 years while I strived to be CEO of General Motors. McKenzie a cousin from Woodhaven , Mi was kidnapped by her brother of the prison cult that they established in hillybilly Pennsylvania. Complete with every type of rapist and retard you can find from Detroit’s retarded sector, a growing field of retards. We are people that are going to enjoy the rest of life in the happiest place in the world. I will stick my finger in her pussy as we chill around children of all ages in Tomorrowland then make her wear an all day butt plug and eskimo kiss her on Back to The Future at Universal Tokyo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have other McKenzies that want to procreate with this woman that has the ability to fertalize their eggs and build warriors out of their offspring that will conquer at will. My beautiful wives’ special attire required , the head gear being the most important. And i will feed as much milk and honey as they want in the 90 plus degree weather with 80 percent chance to storm everyday.

Converting Mer into Secrets - An Outing with the Buoyant Armigers
The complete collection of the 36 Lessons of Vivec found its way into my possession via Netheles Berom, my personal librarian in Tel Uvirith. No longer wishing to see it upon his shelves, he suggested I deposit it into the trash once I had finished gawking at it. Almost immediately upon reading its words, however, I was met with a curiosity.
Lesson One appeared to detail the process of extracting hidden knowledge and telling one’s fortune via tossing mer into the sea. Seeing the value in such water-soluble wisdom, I decided to pursue this endeavor. Rather than blindly searching for participants, I chose to visit the Stronghold of the Armigers in Molag Mar. This group boasts of its martial prowess, sense of exploration, ways with words, and, apparently, their buoyancy, which is an altogether separate and bold claim — but one which happened to align with my goals.
I propositioned them to join me by fabricating a rumor of a Cult of the Sea-Pest, a secretive cult of necromancers dead-set (ha) on resurrecting an army of slaughterfish. It took very little convincing, and there was an appreciable amount of enthusiasm from these “knights-errant” who would now have something to do. They spent the evening before our departure flexing at each other, polishing their ridiculous glass armor, and crafting subtle-yet-complex verse with which to verbally combat and confound the sea scourge.
I noted that not a single one of them inquired about a boat — a good sign.
We spent four days dredging and wading through the shallows of the Inner Sea, searching for aquatic signs of Cult activity. For four days, the Armigers orated various verses and poems reflecting on the nature of water, animals, Mages, Warriors, Thieves, prophecies, and eggs. They brandished their weapons the entire time, akin to something one might call a warrior-poet, if one were attempting to be insufferable.
This was for naught, of course, (I had already declared these waters Cult-Free weeks prior, the fools) but as it turns out, the Buoyant Armigers behave no differently when left in water, nor did they become endowed with any secret knowledge from their long exposure to the sea.
We eventually left the water and parted ways, each of us dejected and dampened, in our own ways. It is a small comfort, and perhaps a newly-learned secret in its own right, that in the midst of the deluge of falseness, mystery, and deceit that is the Reality Hallucination, I may consider myself exceptionally Buoyant in my ability to remain above it all.

BG3 Fic Prompts
I am once again creating a massive document of fics I want to write, to be updated whenever. This is 50% me keeping track of ideas, 25% giving the fandom ideas if they want to steal, and 25% pure entertainment.
“She looks like she could throw me over her shoulder and carry me to safety.” Six times Karlach carried a party member and one time the whole group returned the favor. Bonus points if carrying her is pre-insulation upgrade so they have to get creative and/or sacrificial about it.
~
Similarly, Karlach/Character of Choice in a Pushing Daisies-esque situation, except on steroids. It’s not just that they can’t touch her, they’ll actively burn themselves if they get too close (so no easy kiss-through-Saran-Wrap solutions). They make it work though through the power of love, magic, and a fuck-ton of stubbornness. Ideas can differ greatly depending on who the partner of choice is. Example: Lae’zel toughing it out while Shadowheart curses and sprints to heal her; Astarion leaning into his flirty cad side: “Gale? Summon me a mage hand so I can slap that ass.”
~
Because the Gale romance bug remains one of my favorite things: angsty fic where he—in true BG3 fashion—misinterprets the most basic, bare-bones decency as love because he’s a) been groomed by a goddess since he was a boy and then abandoned by her in a way that makes him feel completely worthless and b) locked in a tower for a year+ with only his cat for company. Writer’s choice whether this results in Tav rejecting Gale and leaving him with the bittersweet realization that they may not Love him, but they do love him and this helps forward Gale’s recovery. OR
Narrator: Lying awake that night, you think back on your talk with Gale. He looked so handsome in the candlelight, even while devastated by your rejection, and you dwell on how unfortunate it is that you don’t return his romantic feelings.
Hmm…or do you?
Oh dear.
~
That Githyanki egg is going to hatch if it’s the last thing I do, even if it’s only in fic. Cue the absolute chaos of this found family/polycule parenting. You’d think Lae’zel would be some help in this but no. She’s not. She’s really, really not. (Doctor McCoy voice: “I’m a warrior not a creche tender!”) What do they feed the thing? Who gets to decide their name? How young is too young to start teaching them to wield a dagger? Spoilers: Withers is a surprisingly good babysitter and the only one with a braincell to draw on.
Wyll: I want a baby
Astarion: Give me a week. What color?
Tav, walking in with acid burns and a panicked Lae’Zel: You got green
~
More Gale angst because I’m trash: Yeah, yeah literally everyone in this party is hella touch-starved but this boy has a year of isolation on top of a kicked puppy personality hidden under that arrogant bravado. Astarion plays his needs off with charm and a supposed obsession with sex, Wyll and Karlach distract with cheer, Shadowheart and Lae’zel stoically power through… and then there’s Gale who’s going to get teary-eyed at the first clasp of his shoulder. Character of Choice gives him a hug one night and he just breaks. Full on sobbing, hyperventilating, holy-shit-this-is-embarrassing-but-now-that-I’ve-started-I-can’t-stop breakdown that’s exactly what he needs. Halsin might be a good choice for this.
~
Forced Lae’zel / Shadowheart bonding via the specific experience of two abused ex-cult members figuring out what kindness looks like.
Lae’zel: Tchk. I failed our leader in battle and they say only, ‘We’ll try again next time’? If this were a githyanki camp my blood would have dyed their armor red tonight.
Shadowheart: Indeed. The disciples of Lady Shar never would have stood for such indolence. There are no beatings for failing to rise with the sun and no one monitoring our rations. Gale gave me thirds last night!
Lae’zel: Why then do I… prefer this weakness?
Shadowheart: Worse, why do I agree with you?
~
I want to give my companions presents! Six times Tav gives a party member something they love—a githyanki tablet for Lae’zel, good wine for Wyll, etc.—and one time they give Tav something back. Or, alternatively, one time Tav refrains from giving a gift and the recipient ends up appreciating that even more. Example: not letting Shadowheart get ahold of any Dark Justiciar armor.
~
Obligatory “Astarion is insecure about not being able to see his reflection and someone helps him with magic/drawing” fic that I may or may not be working on atm.
~
Equally obligatory The Last Unicorn reference where Asatrion has a rage-driven breakdown, screaming at Tav for not being this selfless hero when he needed them. Everyone ignores the realities that, you know, Tav probably hadn’t even been born yet, because they understand that Astarion just needs to Let It Out. This segues into reassurances that they’ll be there for Astarion in the future. End fic. Sike! Plot twist. The party winds up in the past due to plot shenanigans and are like, “Holy shit. We can rescue Astarion.” Except it turns out they can’t because that would totally fuck with the timeline (idk if that’s actually the case in D&D. I just watch a lot of Doctor Who), but they’re at least able to assist him in some small way/comfort him/give him hope for the next 100+ years. They wind up back in their own time where Astarion suddenly realizes that the absolutely insane, weird-as-balls group he met a century ago and whose kindness he's been leaning his sanity on is his group and there are ~emotions~.
~
Hurt/Comfort Bloodweave fic where Astarion, as the rogue, does the best job of finding (read: stealing) items for Gale to feed on. He’s really good at it, to the point that when they get together he starts to fear that’s the main reason why Gale is ‘bothering’ to stay with him. After all, what the hells else does he have to offer? Especially now that he’s pulling back from sex as a primary incentive? Someone loving Astarion for who he is? Absurd. Someone needing Astarion’s talents to keep themselves fed? That he understands. That’s familiar. Cue Gale cycling through obliviousness (necessary intervention from another party member?), horror, and finally reassurance.
~
Wyll teaches the party to dance one night when they’re all bored. Bonus points if Astarion is insulted af because his moves from two centuries ago aren’t cool anymore. Bonus bonus points if Withers turns out to be really good.
~
Honestly, I feel like we’ve been sleeping on Withers in general. Granted, I haven’t finished the game yet so I’m sure there’s stuff that hasn’t been revealed to me yet, but he’s a skeleton that randomly appears in your camp, makes himself at home, changes reality for you provided you've got the funds, tuts about your love life, and is surprisingly good with kids. There’s so much potential in that.
~
“I hate this place. I want to go to Build a Bear!” Total crack fic featuring the Faerûn equivalent of Build a Bear: a kindly toymaker with lots of simple stuffed animals that he’ll personalize for you with clothes, accessories, embroidery, etc. Karlach has the time of her life (as does everyone else, even if they won’t admit it).

Tried searching for some q!Archivists content on the tag but there's barely anything, so I guess I'll have to become this site's biggest q!Archivists warrior (while also feeding my own delusions).
Brace yourselves.
So! In my hc, Cellbit is polyamorous and he ends up falling in love with and eventually "marrying" Philza during purgatory, their trust in each other has been developing before that due to Philza helping him in his investigations and becoming one of the leaders of the Order, but they only formed a connection after day 1 on Egg Island and all the insanity-inducing bullshit they went through.
Their relationship is a mixture of mentor/pupil and lovers, they playfully call each other Father and Son, but ever since Philza became the leader of the BOLAS?!?? gas mask cult, the title of Father Crow has much more depth attached to it. Philza is practically their God, their saviour in moments of desperation and hopelessness, he'll guide his "children" and protect them from everything that this hellscape THIS ISN'T PURGATORY, THIS IS HELL throws at them.
And then he sees Cellbit. Fierce, unforgiving, sometimes cruel, with the intellect of a genius and such compassion and humanity which would surpass that of even the most God-honoring men and women that he's known, but buried so deep inside his heart after everything that he's been through that he isn't even able to feel empathy anymore. He sees this beautiful, broken shell of a man and takes him under his wings, glueing the little pieces bit by bit with his kindness in the hopes of making him feel whole again, even if he knows that it won't heal the cracks and the scars.
But Cellbit sees Philza too, he sees the once stoic, solitary crow residing atop of the wall, observing the passerbys living their lives while keeping his distance, beggining to protect his newly acquired "flock" with a vice grip on his axe and shield, building a nest that'll shelter each of his children while providing them with anything that they need, whilst also encouraging them to pursue their freedom and take matters into their hands. A loving father, a kind leader, a wonderful man in all aspects.
He's not exactly proud of letting the walls that surround his most vulnerable parts crumble so easily, but he can't bring himself to regret it if Philza's the one swinging the hammer at the bricks.
Don't get me wrong, it's not simply a tale of loving gazes and whispered reassurances, their love is also sick, it blinds them to the outside world and the consequences of their actions, their selfishness is warped into a delusion of compassion and they keep themselves tethering on the edge of insanity (or "freedom", as someone that's part of a cannibalistic doomsday cult may call it).
When they eventually "marry" each other near the end of purgatory (and Roier is informed of their newly formed relationship), Philza gives Cellbit a green leather collar with a gold pendant that has been engraved with his initials, his only words to him are "I would like for you to be mine, even if your heart has already been claimed by someone else", Cellbit accepts and once the rest of team BOLAS?!?? receives the news of their union, Cellbit is refered to as "Mother" in family gatherings and "The Hand of God" when Philza is absent.
The green collar and his wedding ring are his most prized possessions, no one's allowed to touch it if not Philza or himself, which unintentionally resulted in an argument between Cellbit and Roier when the mexican tried to touch his husband's neck and had his wrist held forcefully by the other on pure instinct. If someone from the blue team takes the collar as a "hunting prize" after murdering Cellbit they are ambushed and brutally eaten alive by the frenzied red team members.

*fuses my current hyperfixation with a past hyperfixation to create THE ULTIMATE HYPERFIXATION AU*
Here they are! The turtle boys all done up Hollow Knight style! I would’ve had this out like four days ago but then I decided I wanted to make them all glowy and give them a fun menu character selection screen
Basic rundown of the AU (so far at least):
The Alchemist King, ruler of Hallownest (no points for guessing who that is in the AU), for reasons unknown to all but those closest to him, begins experiments to create mighty Void warriors from the humble bugs of his kingdom
Alchemist King’s initial experiments prove to be unsuccessful, resorts to abducting infant bugs from across the realm to try a different approach in harnessing Void energy
Out of countless test subjects, four prove viable, and two are successfully bonded to the stark white Void Vessel masks
Before the other two can be turned into fully realized Vessels, an attack on the White Palace by cult followers of an ancient and nearly forgotten enemy causes considerable chaos, and in the process all four of the young Vessels are believed to perish
On an entirely unrelated note, it seems the reigning champion of the Coliseum of Fools has decided he would rather not fight anymore, and in retaliation, the Grand Mistress of the Coliseum has thrown him down the cliffs of Kingdom’s edge, all the way down into the forlorn expanse of the Ancient Basin… where he soon stumbles upon four tiny bug children who definitely should not be down there all alone
Shenanigans ensue and lead to a woefully unprepared ex-champion taking four strange bug boys under his wing <3
Oh what havoc will they wreak upon Hallownest? What’s the deal with all this strange fuchsia goop nonsense that’s starting to spread through the Kingdom - and what is slumbering behind the sealed doors of the Black Egg Sanctum, awaiting an opportunity to rise again and take back the lands that once were his?

I think one of the most fucked up Ninjago realizations I've come to after it has been pointed out to me is the fact that Serpentine, if anything, are mammals.
Okay so first off: they have breasts.
Tumblr media
Thanks to Aspheera, it is implied that some female serpentine or female serpentine in more ancient times had breasts, which implies the fact that they use them to breastfeed their offspring milk. Milk is distinctly a mammalian feature.
Second: they sweat.
Tumblr media
Because of Chen's cult needing anacondrai essence to become permenantly them we know that serpentine (or at least the anacondrai) sweat as they use this essence to cool off and also they get sweaty in situations of stress or fear (like when Pythor learned that the anacondrai warriors are coming for him to the cryptarium prison) due to adrenaline most likely. Sweating as a form of temperature control is another exclusively mammalian feature.
Now, this theory might seem to have holes in it at first like the fact that Serpentine don't have any hair, that they're cold-blooded or that they lay eggs to which I have responses:
Not all mammals (like the naked mole rat or plenty of aquatic mammals) have hair and also mammals like pangolins and hedgehogs have hard keratin structures instead of hair.
Tumblr media
There were cold-blooded mammals, the myotragos goat is the most notable example, so warm-bloodedness isn't even a defining mammalian feature as they also share it with birds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monotremes like Echidnas and Platypuses lay eggs despite being mammals.
Tumblr media
Anyways, I'm sorry that I cursed y'all with this knowledge, but I got this curse first through observation and now I have to spread it.

woah thank you for this explanation. the brothel queens part is so vile and disturbing, i doubt theyll include it in the show (though, its seasons away so it really just depends on how they plan on evolving rhaenyras character) but just knowing that alone makes me really question how people can be so vehemently team black and act so morally superior for it.
Yeah, there's a really weird mass-psychosis going on right now in "The House of the Dragon" fandom.
People don't seem to grasp the idea that Rhaenyra will become a monster and is remembered in the books - both "A Song of Ice and Fire" and "Dunk and Egg" series - as an absolute tyrant of which many future Targaryens, including Daenerys and Egg (Aegon V), are ashamed to be her direct descendants.
Tyrion - in the books - gives a TED talk about the failings of Viserys in placating Rhaenyra's sins and transgressions and how it contributed into making her a monster ... and that Cersei was heading down that same road with Joffery if they don't do something about it.
I will bring a caveat that the "Brothel Queen's" incident is pushed off as speculation. However, whether it was true or not, the Realm itself and - most importantly - the people of King's Landing believed it to be absolutely what happened. So much so, that when Daeron is allegedly murdered while on the march to King's Landing to rescue Alicent, the people straight up rise up and riot because they wanted justice for Helaena and Alicent but when the one person - their hero- who could've given it to them was murdered, they all decide to do it themselves.
Tens of thousands of people died storming the Red Keep and the Dragon Pit ... but they didn't care. Cause they wanted Rhaenyra to pay for what they assumed she did to Helaena and Alicent.
Also, non-book readers need to be aware that "Fire & Blood" is wholly Team Black Propaganda based in the fictional circumstances in which it is written. That is during the worst of the madness of King Aerys II - just before Robert's Rebellion. Which means that any anti-Targaryen or anti-Black sentiments would be seen as treasonous and would mean that the Maester writing "Fire & Blood" for VIserys and Daenerys would be burned alive by Wildfire.
Therefore there isn't any nuance to Alicent's prospective. She is an evil-stepmother and pious hypocrite who was getting fucked by Ser Criston Cole in the corner of the yard and had bondage parties where everyone had a turn with her. Aemond is a anarchist psychopath who marries an evil white witch. Helaena is a fat and soft weirdo. Aegon II is a drunk whoring wastrel. And Daeron is barely covered other than he is very valiant and honorable, he loves his mommy a great deal, he's one of the best Battle Commanders in the history of Westeros, and he was a cunning warrior.
Therefore, "The Brothel Queen's" incident in which Alicent and Helaena are gang raped is brushed off as "hearsay" despite both the realm believing it and the person who gave the account of the incident being one of the more reliable sources in the chronicles.
As to what the show will do ... I mean, it depends.
A lot of covering for Rhaenyra and making her seem the progressive girl-boss heroine of "House of the Dragon" came from the heavy handed political bend of Miguel Sponchnik. It was that fuck-head who basically created the mass-psychosis of zealous and cult like Alicent hatred and Rhaenyra worship. He interfered a lot with the writing and set the tone for the series to make the show a feminist message about how men keep powerful women down. Which is a complete contradiction of the source material.
George R.R. Martin has said repeatedly that the story of the "Dance of Dragons" is about how anyone and everyone can be corrupted by power - regardless of gender.
Luckily Sponchnik got shit-canned by Warner Brothers - probably at the behest of the writers who were tired of his personal politics handcuffing them from telling a nuanced story.
I think stuff like Laenor not being murdered and Daeron being left out of the first season was Sponchnik's doing in order to create mass sympathy for Team Black. By making Rhaenyra seem like a progressive heroine with only good kids and righteous tolerance they're trying to put the white hats on Rhaenyra and Team Black.
Meanwhile they left out Daeron - The Jon Snow of "The Dance of Dragons" - and I think if Sponchnik hadn't been fired Daeron wouldn't have appeared at all. Because, he - along with Jace - are the only clear cut heroic figures of the "Dance of Dragons".
He also changed the circumstances of Criston Cole killing Joffery Longmoth'. in the book it's a fair fight during a tourney bout that Ser Joffery takes too far and Criston defends himself accordingly. Meanwhile, in the show, Criston just straight up murders Ser Joffery. Thus, it's Sponchnik dog whistling and manipulating progressive viewers and media into hating Criston for murdering a gay person and - by association - hating Alicent who saves Criston and puts him by her side.
Hopefully now that the dip-shit has been fired, we can get an unencumbered writer's room that can bring out the humanity of the Greens and let the the Blacks have a dark side that evolves into true evil (which they become in the end)

Aegon’s Prophecy and the Starks
(Some theories on how Aegon’s prophecy has impacted the North, and the Starks in particular)
Early Targaryen Dynasty
Question: The modern maesters don’t tend to believe that prophecy works. The reason I say this, is because Aegon sent messages back and forth between himself and Torrhen Stark before Torrhen knelt. It’s specifically mentioned that maesters sent these messages, so why doesn’t Fire & Blood (written by a modern maester) tell us what they said?
Answer: Gyldayn didn’t want to embarrass Aegon and Torrhen by relaying their prophecy talks.
- Throughout the tumultuous Targaryen history, the king-to-heir method of passing on the prophecy was often disrupted. Since the Targaryens kept forgetting their own prophecy, they had to keep being reminded by the Starks. The North Remembers.
- Queen Alysanne decided to travel to the Wall because Alaric Stark told her about the Song of Ice and Fire.
The Dance of the Dragons
- With Aegon’s dream being named the Song of Ice and Fire, the name of the Pact of Ice and Fire cannot be a coincidence.
- The Pact of Ice and Fire may have been in order to give birth to Azor Ahai. Song of Ice and Fire and all that.
- Alternatively, Cregan may have wanted to get some prophetic Targaryen blood into the Stark family, since the Targaryens really seemed to enjoy blowing themselves up every fifteen minutes. Starks, in contrast, have historically been a bit more mellow.
- Cregan Stark supported Rhaenyra during the Dance of the Dragons, because like Viserys, he believed that Azor Ahai would be of Rhaenyra’s line.
- Cregan likely told Aegon III of the prophecy when he was the hand.
Egg’s Unruly Offspring
(This part isn’t about the Starks, but is important nonetheless!)
- Without dragons, the Targaryens couldn’t unite the realm with force alone anymore.
- Aegon V likely heard of the prophecy from Bloodraven, and wanted to unite the realm (while also doing some to help the smallfolk).
- Eggon tried to unite his realm through marriage alliances. Betrothals included: Prince Duncan Targaryen to the daughter of lord Lyonel Baratheon; Prince Jaehaerys to Celia Tully (daughter of the lord of riverrun); Prince Daeron to Olenna Redwine; Princess Shaera to Luthor Tyrell, heir of Highgarden.
- None of the children were willing to follow through with these marriages. Princess Rhaelle was betrothed to the heir of Lyonel Baratheon as consolation, but I don’t doubt that Egg and Betha were considering husband options such as Lannisters, Arryns, and/or Starks.
- Jaehaerys and Shaera marrying each other is especially interesting. They were under the impression that Azor Ahai would be born of their line, and apparently they think one *Special Snowflake Eugenics Warrior* is going to be more helpful than the armies of the realm.
- In a last-ditch attempt to truly unite the realm, Egg tried to hatch dragon eggs at Summerhall. Seven eggs for seven kingdoms (yes I know there’s actually nine kingdoms shut up), at a castle built to celebrate unity. But the magic went wrong, and blood was spent without waking dragons.
Southron Ambitions
The Targaryens are CLEARLY incompetent. They’re essentially an incestuous doomsday cult obsessed with breeding the savior. They’ve destroyed themselves over and over. They’ve united the realm only to tear it apart, bringing fire and blood, with only a couple real lasting improvements. I say this because at some point, the Starks would realize this.
Rickard Stark tried to do what Egg could not; unite the realm through marriage and friendship. He betrothed Brandon Stark to Catelyn Tully. He had Jon Arryn foster Ned with Robert Baratheon, and betrothed Lyanna to Robert.
- He was also probably planning on marrying Ned and Benjen to southern lords.
- All of these alliances to defend the realm, ended up turned the wrong way when Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna.
Robert’s Rebellion
- Brandon, the Stark heir, would’ve known the prophecy. When he heard Lyanna was kidnapped, he went to King’s Landing.
Because, what the hell, Targaryens? Your weirdass incest prophecy cult family has done almost nothing but cause problems since the conquest. You conquered the continent because of your save-the-world-self-insert prophecy. You’ve screwed up the realm time and time again in the name of this prophecy, never actually making progress. And when someone else actually makes progress in building a save-the-world coalition, you sabotage it?
At a certain point, it seems like the prophecy is just an excuse for Targaryens to do whatever they want. It’s an entire family with main character syndrome.
- So Brandon goes to king’s landing, furious at the kidnapping and breaking the betrothal and the sabotage.
Aerys summons Rickard, and you probably know the story of how they died. The son and heir of ice, consumed by fire.
- And so when Rickard and Brandon died, the Starks forgot the prophecy. The North had always remembered the prophecy, but the prophesied heroes made them forget.
- The coalition meant to ally with the Targaryens turned against them, and Robert killed Rhaegar.
A lot of this is probably wrong, but it’s fun to think about!

Mmm don't think I've shared this HC here before: Zelda I Zelda is about the same age as Link, but Zelda II Zelda is 10-20 years older (and for the avoidance of doubt: NOT romantically involved with Link). This comes down to the fact that of all the things AoL!Link (or Hyrule) could have used his wish on, Impa told him to awaken Zelda. Not to save the land, not to stop the Cult of Ganon, just to wake a legendary princess from long, long ago from her magical slumber. And maybe I'm reading into a simplistic Sleeping Beauty-ish plot a bit too much, but there must have been a reason for that, right? Preferably a reason beyond "16-year-old Link marries the 16-year old Zelda who literally just woke up, thus becoming King of Hyrule and fixing everything somehow".
So no: let's instead say that sleeping beauty Zelda, as the rightful successor of the king before her (which is I think canon? Or at least implied?) is the last great ruler of Hyrule who happens to be a tactical genius and received the power/knowledge to control the Palace Guardians that the king before her created. Or something along those lines. Give her some agency. And some life experience. Also that ending scene can be a totally platonic hug if you want it to be. There, I said it.
(Obvious disclaimer: ship and let ship, it's ok if your HC is different to mine.)

ZORA. They're the coolest Zelda race imo. Especially the N64 Majora's Mask version. Swimming would be so much more fun if you could do graceful dolphin dives and also produce magical electricity, then pause to play underwater bone guitar while laying eggs and presumably not having periods. Fish life for me.

Gonna be honest: I'm a fake fan who loves LU fanon (and LoZ canon) way more than the actual comic. But from what I recall, I don't think they've actually fought anything that's talked back yet? That'd be fun.
Not that fights with unintelligent monsters are bad per se, but the Zelda series has a lot of talkative baddies. Ganondorf, obviously, but also Ghirahim, Master Kohga, Veran, Onox, Vaati, Vire, Yuga, Blind, Zant, King Bulblin, Twinrova and more. Volga, Wizzro and Cia from Hyrule Warriors. Sohga from Age of Calamity. And all the sassy Nightmares from Link's Awakening, of course. Hell, wheel out the Moblin King and his cronies.
Idk. If the queer-coded monster isn't snapping out clever quips while they transform into a giant blobby turtle and/or bumblebee, what is even the point?
Thanks for the ask!! 💜

The vision of seeing an alternate timeline where if Bug World No Mercy had come out during the time of Warriors
People would have full on made hybrid bugs between a beetle and butterfly or slug and dragonfly or pillbug and firefly due to cross-species shipping and relationships and making their hypokids and them becoming popular fan OCs with a cult following
Its me.
I am the people.
I made fan kids and fan cross species and hypokids for my favorite dynamics and relationships.
Anyways, where my Queen Mulch and Queen Mother Macerate II fan child? /j /lh
There would have been whole fucking wars about how hybrid bugs aren't realistic in a story where bugs are united under kingdoms, have religion, start wars, have a history of monarchy, and their worlds are physically unrecognizable to the humans and other animals. Then years later there'd be a wave of people going "Hey remember the Bug World hybrid fandom wars, fuck that let's be cringe" and then everybody would make bright artwork of an ant/wasp hybrid with anime hair or something because it was in the 2000s
Gotta point out the fan child thing: It's possible, but not in the way you think. Slugs can actually get themselves pregnant on account that they are both male and female, while Queen Ants can give birth without fertilization- Although the ant would be a male
So you got two realistic ways a kid could come about:
Queen Mulch has the baby herself through what I just mentioned about the slugs
Queen Mother Macerate II has an ant egg, but the ant is a baby boy
Either way, wala there's their baby(ies)

Jaune The Maid
Tumblr media
Jaune alludes to Joan of Arc , who is famous for hearing the voices of the angels, for leading her people towards victory and for dying as a martyr.
So far, this allusion has not played a major role and its references have mostly been easter eggs in volume 1 throughout the Jaunidice's arc. However, I will argue that the set-up is here for it to be perfectly integrated into Jaune's arc. Not only that, but it can easily become the thematic heart of his story.
JAUNE- A JOURNEY THROUGH THE ANIMA
The anima is the archetype of the life itself. (“Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious,” Carl Jung)
According to Jung, the anima is "the inner feminine side of a man". I prefer to define it as one's "opposite self" aka an archetype made of traits we (think we) lack and so look for in a partner. In literature, the anima is used to develop romantic relationships. A character ends up with someone, who complements them and brings out qualities they initially haven't.
Whatever the definition you prefer, the idea of anima is the crux of Jaune's arc. He starts the series as a slave to toxic masculinity:
Jaune: I don’t want help! I don’t want to be the damsel in distress! I want to be the hero!
Still, thanks to Pyrrha's influence he moves past that and starts embracing his "feminine side" more:
Tumblr media
This is Jaune's story in a nutshell. He is a boy, who wants to be a hero, but discovers that to become one, he must accept he is a damsel as well.
In general, the Vale arc sets up a gap between Pyrrha, Jaune and their approaches to heroism.
On the one hand Jaune wants to become a hero to run away from who he is:
Jaune: Cause this is always what I’ve wanted to be! My father, my grandfather, and his father before him were all warriors! They were all heroes! I wanted to be one, too. I was just never good enough.
This is why he symbolically enters Beacon through cheating. He acts as someone he is not.
On the other hand Pyrrha is a hero simply because that is the person she wants and chooses to be:
Red-Haired Woman: I don’t think she would regret her choice, because a Huntress would understand that there really wasn’t a choice to make. And a Huntress is what she always wanted to be.
The choice between being a hero and being herself is never really a choice because being a Huntress is a part of who Pyrrha is. So, her final sacrifice is not really a negation of the self, but a result of who she deep down is.
Since Beacon, Jaune has been struggling to overcome this gap by following into Pyrrha's footsteps.
He keeps integrating with her both physically:
Tumblr media
Blacksmith: That was some fine metal you brought me. Accents the white nicely. Where’d you get it from?
And spiritually:
Tumblr media
Jaune: No. I don’t think I’m healing her. Our Aura heals our bodies. It feels… it feels more like I’m using my Aura to amplify hers!
Nora: Wait, aren’t you worried about running out?
Jaune: Pyrrha once told me I’ve got a lot of it. I still believe her.
This integration leads him to grow, but also forces him to fight the same foes (Cinder) and to face the same challenges and pain (killing Penny). In this way, Jaune is slowly becoming more like Pyrrha and he is acquiring the feminine traits he initially refuses. In other words, he is integrating with his own anima.
This process symbolically goes through 4 phases, known as the Four Stages of the Anima:
Jung distinguished four broad stages of the anima, analogous to levels of the Eros cult described in the late classical period. He personified them as Eve, Helen, Mary and Sophia. [“The Psychology of the Transference,” CW 16, par. 361. ]
Pyrrha is for Jaune the personification of 3 of these stages:
1-"In the first stage, Eve, the anima is indistinguishable from the personal mother. The man cannot function well without a close tie to a woman".
Jaune: Bring it on, Ice Queen! I'll have you know that I have been told that I am a natural born leader!
Weiss: By who? Your mother?
Jaune: A-and Pyrrha!
2-"In the second stage, personified in the historical figure of Helen of Troy, the anima is a collective and ideal sexual image" (“All is dross that is not Helen” – Marlowe).
Tumblr media
3-"The third stage, Mary, manifests in religious feelings and a capacity for lasting relationships."
Tumblr media
Some people fall in love for life Others never get it right Love's fickle when it calls One thing that I know for sure Longer than our lives endure You're my forever fall
This means that even if she is dead, Pyrrha keeps being a key character for Jaune and a big part of his life:
Pyrrha: I want you to know that I’m just happy to be a part of your life. I’ll always be here for you, Jaune.
JAUNE'S ANGEL
Jaune: She should be standing here...
Red-Haired Woman: She is.
Pyrrha will always be at Jaune's side, even if just as an inner voice to guide him. After all, isn't Joan of Arc inspired in her quest by the voices of the angels?
Well, Pyrrha is Jaune's personal angel. Her sacrifice and example guide him throughout his journey. This is why the scene in Lost is so ethereal and yet needs no more elaboration.
Who is the Red Haired Woman? Is she Pyrrha's mother? Is she a manifestation of Pyrrha herself? Is she real? Is she a vision? It does not matter. Thematically, she is Jaune's inner self, that part of him who is forever bonded to Pyrrha (aka his anima :P). She appears to once again guide him and inspire him to be the best possible version of himself.
Pyrrha keeps living through Jaune, who is her legacy and this is why she keeps standing:
Nora: Pyrrha may not be by our side anymore, but we can fight like she is.
Jaune: And in a way... she will be.
4 DEATHS- 4 GIFTS
Pyrrha is Jaune's anima and his inner guide, but where exactly is she leading him? The answer is towards self-actualization. In RWBY this happens through the 4 gifts of the Gods:
Pyrrha: It’s not about why; it’s about knowing. Understanding dark and light helps us manifest our Aura. Everyone has some of both.
All the characters are going through Knowledge, Creation, Destruction and Choice in different ways. When it comes to Jaune, his journey is articulated through the 4 alchemical deaths:
Jaune’s arc is about living Pyrrha’s death over and over again with different scenarios and outcomes. This happens so that in the end he can finally overcome it.
So far, it has happened three times and each time has been in the climax of an important battle.
The Battle of Beacon has him witness powerlessly to Pyrrha’s death (lack of knowledge and passivity).
The Battle of Haven has him saving Weiss (creation).
The Battle of Atlas has him killing Penny (destruction).
What is more, every time Jaune becomes more proactive and conscious of what he is doing.
In Beacon he has no idea of what is happening. He works with little information and things happen to him without him being able to do anything.
In Haven his actions lead to Weiss being in danger, but he manages to save her. That said, he does not do it consciously. He unlocks his Semblance because of emotional stress. It is an unconscious choice and not a conscious one.
In Atlas he makes a specific conscious choice, but it is a choice that is forced on him because of external circumstances. It is also a choice that is meant to challenge and temporally break him.
Every death do far has symbolized one of the gifts. Pyrrha (Knowledge), Weiss (Creation), Penny (Destruction). By going through them he is painfully understanding the Cycle of Life Death and his role in it as well. This fits a character whose main motivation is grief and whose allusion is intertwined with the idea of martyrdom. Jaune is specifically the character that I think will deconstruct/invert this idea. Joan of Arc dies a martyr, while Jaune has to go through others' martyrdoms over and over. He must understand them, accept them and move forward despite the pain.
So, 3 gifts/deaths out and 1 to go. This last death has to be about Choice. Jaune's stance on it needs to convey he has understood the theme fully and that he is choosing who he wants to be. There is only 1 character that can challenge him to choose between Creation and Destruction and who has been a constant in all the climatic deaths so far:
Tumblr media
Cinder is the perpetrator of each death and the one who has been hurting Jaune (and all the others) personally and cruelly. She is also the Maiden of Choice and if she wants her arc to have any kind of positive resolution she must fully understand this idea. Only in this way she can become fit enough to embody it.
However, as for now, she is far far far away from it. She has been ignoring her insecurities and pushing away any chance of positive development. So, can she still grow into a true Maiden? And how does Jaune figure in all of this?
MAIDENS AT HEART
Winter: No, Penny. You were always the real Maiden at heart.
Each arc has so far had 2 Maidens. The first is the titular Maiden, who can create tornados and has flaming eyes. The second is the Maiden at heart, who even without powers understands the theme and what being a Maiden truly means.
Raven and Yang are the 2 Maidens of Knowledge, while Winter and Penny are the 2 Maidens of Creation. Symbolically, they meet in front of a vault at the climax of an arc and the Maiden at heart shows the other who they should aim to become. What is more, usually this meeting calls back an early interaction between the 2 same characters.
Here it's what happens between Yang and Raven:
Yang: Oh, shut up!! You don't know the first thing about strength! You turn your back on people, you run away when things get too hard, you put others in harm's way instead of yourself!! You might be powerful, but that doesn't make you strong.
Raven: Who do you think you are, lecturing me?! Standing there, shaking like a scared little girl?!
Yang: Yeah, I'm scared. But I'm still standing here!
Here comes instead the Winter and Penny's interaction:
Winter: I was just a machine… just… following orders.
Penny: You were my friend.
Winter: Thank you… for trusting me with this. When you’re… gone…
Penny: I won’t be gone, I’ll be part of you.
Yang shows Raven what being strong and smart really looks like. She also proves to her that knowledge does not need to be a cage preventing you from doing the right thing. Their whole conversation in front of the vault also mirrors their previous interaction in the camp. There Raven tries to lecture and to teach Yang, while here she proves to her mother she is already a better person than her.
Penny assures Winter about her humanity and through her sacrifice she affirms the themes of friendship and trust. After having been cared and taught by Winter, she is finally paying the favor back, as shown by her repeating Winter's words about not really being gone verbatim.
So, what about Cinder and Choice? Obviously Cinder's Maiden at heart is Pyrrha.
CINDER AND PYRRHA'S FAILED COMMUNICATION
Tumblr media
Pyrrha: Do you believe in destiny?
Cinder: Yes.
Like the other couples of Maidens, Cinder and Pyrrha meet during the climax of an arc and the Maiden at heart tries to teach the titular Maiden an important truth.
The problem is that Cinder kills Pyrrha before she can fully express what Choice and Destiny are really about. So, in a sense, here Pyrrha fails at communication. This is kind of the main struggle of her arc:
Pyrrha: Tell her exactly what you said. No ridiculous schemes, no pick-up lines. Just... be honest.
Jaune: But what if I-
Pyrrha: Jaune. You can't get it wrong if it's the truth.
Jaune: You're right. Thanks, Pyrrha! Good talk, Ren!
Nora: Practice what you preach, Pyrrha.
What goes in the way of her relationship with Jaune is on her part the inability to fully express what she feels. Moreover, Pyrrha's link to the idea of communication is shown also through 2 other details:
Her weapons - Milò (her spear) and Akuou (her shield) mean respectively to talk and to listen. One needs to both attack and defend to be a balanced fighter. Similarly, one needs to both talk and listen to be in a balanced relationship and to communicate effectively.
The setting of her fight with Cinder - Pyrrha and Cinder's fight happens on the top of Beacon Tower aka a Communication Tower. Pyrrha's sacrifice is born specifically by the necessity to stop the tower from falling, so that communication among countries can be maintained.
Pyrrha loses her weapons in the fight, just like the tower falls and world communication is lost. So, it is really not surprising that even her attempt to get through Cinder fails.
Cinder herself refuses to listen to others and symbolically she is once again the one who gets in the way of World Communication in volume 8, where she damages Amity and refuses Penny's attempt to understand her:
Penny: Why are you doing this? Why serve someone like Salem?
Cinder: I don’t serve anyone. And you wouldn’t either, if you weren't built that way.
So, Pyrrha doesn't manage to reveal her truth to Cinder, who on her part stubbornly keeps closing herself up to others. Still, before the end Cinder needs to learn Pyrrha's lesson.
Luckily, Pyrrha might have failed with Cinder, but her struggle to open up and to grow close to Jaune has resulted in her successfully passing on her teaching to him:
Pyrrha: Do you believe in destiny?
Jaune: Um... I-I don't know. I guess that depends on how you view it.
Pyrrha: When I think of destiny, I don't think of a predetermined fate you can't escape. But rather... some sort of final goal, something you work towards your entire life.
BECOMING A TRUE MAIDEN
To summarize, here is the situation:
Cinder still remembers Pyrrha's words, but she does not understand their meaning
Pyrrha has died apparently for nothing since she could not convey the truth to Cinder
Jaune needs to fully integrate with Pyrrha, his anima, so that he can reach self-actualization and become a true hero like her
There is a very simple way these plotlines and arcs can all come together and that is if Jaune himself becomes Cinder's Maiden at heart. He can be the one showing Cinder what Choice and Maidenhood truly are. It can happen in a scene that mirrors Cinder/Pyrrha, Cinder/Jaune and Pyrrha/Jaune's past interactions.
It would be a meaningful way for Cinder to finally become a true Maiden and to make a defining self-actualizing Choice. This choice will lead to Cinder's death (the 4th and final alchemical death), but will also save the world.
It would give additional meaning to Pyrrha's story by making her instrumental in saving the world, not because of her prowess as a fighter, but through her relationship with Jaune. In the end, her major contribution would be thanks to that young love which was cut short by her premature death and that nobody of the People in ChargeTM considered as important.
Finally, for the story to make Jaune symbolically a "Maiden" would be a fitting crowning moment for his arc. The childish boy who wanted to be a hero and a knight so badly finally realizes his dream... by turning into a sensible and wise Maiden. It would show clearly he has fully integratred with his feminine traits (Pyrrha, his anima) and would pay a neat homage to his allusion.
I mean, isn't Joan of Arc famous as the Maid of Orleans?
