Hiya! 👩🏾‍💻💗

I made a coding infographic/slideshow for anyone getting into coding and are stuck! I'm seeing a lot of new codeblr blogs coming up recently and they're all beginners and I have been getting a lot of asks which basically all ask "I'm new to coding, how do I start?", so I decided to make this at 1am in the morning real quick! 🥲😭

wrote my first "hello, world" in assembly today :]

i used to never ever think i was capable of programming in anything remotely close to machine code. the fact that now i have, and that i actually understand what is going on here, even in this simple code, is huge for me. i'm so proud of myself!!!

hi studyblr!

my name's yara (she/her), im 19, and im a second year computer science student from the US.

i've been a lurker on here for years at this point, but since i've largely quit all other social media ive been craving engagement from this app. so im hoping to get to posting my own content on here and engaging a bit more with the studyblr community!

some of my hobbies and interests:

listening to music - i am huge alt/indie music fan. some of my fav artists are paramore, björk, charli xcx, and phoebe bridgers, but im always keeping up with current releases and looking for new stuff

reading

journaling

visual art - ive been experimenting with digital art lately, but my heart lies with traditional mediums tbh

currently studying Japanese in college, so expect some japanese study content!

i do a lot of tutoring work on the side, and i especially like to work with underprivileged kids - educational inequality is an issue very close to my heart

currently im on winter break, so im studying in preparation for the next semester. it's not something i normally do, but i want to take a course on AI next semester so im taking an udemy course on object oriented programming which will (hopefully) prepare me for that. and i need to keep up with my japanese as well.

How to learn: HTML | Resources ✨

I have come back with a new resource I've made! This time about how to learn HTML! I'm starting from the basics right now and working my way up of 'how to learn' info resources!😅

I've made a HTML resource in the past (one | two) but this one is a bit more detailed and has tips of how I studied HTML. I use HTML on the daily so though I would share my knowledge with more people. Again, just like my previous resource "Starting your coding journey", this is more targeted towards absolute beginners or for people who want to learn how to customise their Tumblr blog/Neocite! 👩🏾‍💻

Damn starting my first computer science class and i feel isolated from my peers. I feel like everyone knows whats going on and i dont :( and im seeing people that ive had classes with and theyll just wave to me and idk if i have the rapport to talk to them.

The projects’ overview

POGOBot - A cute chatbot using HTML/CSS/JS/jQuery, maybe React.js(?), JS libraries and some free APIs.

Reason for this project: I want to work more on using APIs, jQuery and CSS media queries.

A bunch of C# console apps - Create a repo with a bunch of C# console applications, maybe 10.

Reason for this project: Basically a refresher on my C#, even working on my C# OOP topics' knowledge.

Create a CSS framework from scratch - self-explanatory really.

Reason for this project: Saw a bunch of kids online create one and was curious about how to make one so I want to make a project of doing so.

Create a chrome browser extension - self-explanatory again. Want to make a pop-up menu type of browser extension.

Reason for this project: Was curious one night and watched a youtube video on how to make one - looks simple but still has the 'challenge' element to it so want to create one.
