Nearly Christmas few companies are looking to hire. and yesterday we had a HUGE Vet bill as the poor guy is sick Pancreatitis they think A vet bill that would set me back with a job a month. I put it on the Credit card but... trying to do what I can while still job hunting. Yep looking for money but in return if you send a tip, send a question. about Silicone casting, trapunto stitch, airbrushing, fiberglass, armoring, Kimono's, dyeing... and I'll post information on the techniques. I'm also a photographer of 30 years so questions to those are also open. Hey, it’s mod nat again. My last living grandparent is terminally ill and I’d like to visit her for her birthday, and have her meet my partner of more than 8 years for the first time. My grandma has idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which she’s had diagnosed for about 3 years. (Life expectancy with PF is 3-5 years on average.) I only was able to for the first time in roughly 10 years last fall due to my being no contact with my parents (+ rest of family by extension) from 2014-2021.

We need to fundraise for transportation to the greater Tkaronto/Toronto area from so-called “Ottawa” where I live. Both my partner and I are disabled and on social assistance, so can’t otherwise afford transportation.

Me at 3 1/2, playing with plasticene with my grandfather. I wouldn’t have had access to this photo, or any from my childhood, if you folks hadn’t helped me fundraise to get to my grandpa’s funeral back in 2021. It means a lot and I thank you.

Breakdown of funds needed:

~$80 CAD for transport there (we’re getting a ride part of the way there through my sibling)

~$100 CAD for transport the way back

$??? CAD for lodging (I don’t know the amount but want to reimburse the person covering it for me)

Helping would mean me getting to talk to a grandparent as my real self, when I wasn’t able to before, despite coming out as trans a dozen years ago.

I think sometimes how yall talk about miss powers is weird like the nonstop hate and always calling her a bitch. Rubs me the wrong way, like she is an interesting character who had brought an interesting challenge to wordgirl concerning critical thinking as well as teaching the lesson of how it can be dangerous to blindly trust authority figures or even becoming a follower to someone because they seem skilled/talented

That's one thing that's always bothered me, is how we can acknowledge the misogynistic tropes concerning ships like tobecky, which need to be acknowledged. However misogynistic mindsets continue on in the Fandom concerning a few female characters, I've seen people have unreasonable hate towards Miss Powers, Claire McCalister, and even Violet.

And it makes me sad :(. Instead of playing with the character and their traits, interactions, and function in the story someone people just villianize them and it is so sad.

So I’m currently trying to make the maths department look nicer because the displays haven’t been replaced in years and are falling apart and torn, a lot of this is coming out of my own budget because technically we don’t need displays but I’ve already started printing my women in stem stuff to go up and I’ve made a history of mathematics board.

If any if you have any good posters of memes or anything to do with maths please send it my way :) I’ll ask the creator for permission to put them up. on Thursdays strike I’m also going to have SEN kids with me making maths posters and decorations so any math crafts ideas would be amazing :)

i honestly believe in my heart that STEM education suffers from the lack of shop/home ec type classes. You know what I use math for more than anything else? sewing. all those useless transformations of shapes are things i use to change pattern sizes and figure out how big a piece needs to be if I want a different seam allowance.

cooking is just chemistry. building a chair requires some level of understanding physics. growing your own vegetable garden involves half the stuff you should be learning in biology. all of those provide much better understanding of a principle than an infinite number of “Julie is building a backyard fence” story problems could ever hope to
