i want to talk about the birthday party and what felix's costume actually means to me. my first impression was that he was just too cool to put in any effort especially in his own home, that's just the felix way, he doesn't try, right? but as ive been suffering from saltburn brainrot this entire time I've now realised that felix LOVES fancy dress, he loves to dress up, he's silly and boyish and whimsical like that. he dresses up for christmas runs, he wears a very detailed outfit in the fancy dress flashbacks, he's absolutely ridiculous and loving it when he celebrates oliver after exams.

then the truth about oliver comes out. felix is so devastated he cannot be bothered in the slightest to do a thing he clearly loves. but he still has to make an appearance. he still has to pretend that oliver is his friend. a thing you have to know about felix is he would rather die than make a scene. he will comply with the unspoken rules at saltburn but he will not be enjoying it at all. i truly don't believe he thought he was an angel or a god or a romantic figure in that moment at all.

he was a stupid boy that had his heart broken and fished out a pair of cheap, spray painted wings and just wanted to get through the rest of the night.

interestingly enough the costume designer had some similar things in mind:

"did he have another costume planned? maybe he did."

Welcome to Mystery Inc. known for solving all your spooky problems with a side of Squaaaaaaad shenanigans 👻

How it went down: Rebi declared she wanted to be a ghost the minute she understood what Spooooooky Day was (you have to shiver when you say it if you want her to giggle). Q pulled up his notes doc with a running list of family costume ideas and decided the Scooby Doo theme would be perfect with the addition of a tiny ghost. Bailey and Lyric got to work on the looks and choreography. Q and Legend were in charge of production, camera work and dog training.

On the day of the shoot, B might have whispered the words baby and four loud enough for Rebi to hear and pull out her best "you all should be scared of me" performance. Q was too hyped about his blonde wig and proud of the commitment his squad showed. Lyree was stressed but ready for her directorial debut. Legz yelled Unique, ooops Action! and the rest was magic.
