His shirt was gone, Colin was sure of it. He had spent more time searching for the stupid piece of fabric than he’d liked to admit. Where had it gone? Had he misplaced it in his apartment? He wasn’t that messy. Had someone stolen it? Who would steal just a shirt and leave everything else behind?
There was no explanation for Colin why he couldn’t find the damn thing. Not that he didn’t have anything else to wear. He wanted to wear this shirt in particular. It was one of his favorites and – call him superstitious – it was his lucky shirt.
With a huff, he gave up. There was no finding it and he had a feeling that it wouldn’t be found in his apartment either. Not particularly happy at the prospect of having to wear something else, Colin went for his second most valued shirt and pulled it on.
Because running late also wasn’t an option today. Not if he wanted to get on the good side of his band members and keep his wallet from being depleted. He had to buy them drinks for being late one too many times already.
Turned out that all he needed to find his shirt was to leave his apartment. There in the hallway nowhere else than on her.
“Morning Colin,” she called out as he pulled the door closed behind him.
“Morning–” he stopped, startled by her choice of clothing. Funny, that looked exactly like his– wait a minute. Colin squinted trying to figure out if that truly was his shirt and perhaps he also stared a little too long.
“Is that my shirt?” He blurted out, causing her to freeze. Glancing down her own body at the shirt, Colin could see her brows furrow. He walked over to her to inspect the shirt closer.
“That is my shirt,” he confirmed, pulling at the fabric on her stomach, eyeing the fabric, the way it was washed out. Just in the way his shirt was. There was even the small bleach stain when he’d spilled the bottle right into his basket.
As he looked up at her again, fabric absentmindedly rubbing between his fingers, she was puzzled. Colin couldn’t help but grin in amusement.
“Did you steal that from me?”
Watching her become so flustered amused him greatly. He laughed as she started to babble excuses for it, denying all claims of thievery.
“It’s ok. I must have left it in the washer.” “I’ll go change,” she mumbled apologetically but he shook his head.
“No need for that.
It is my favorite shirt though, so maybe give it back once you got your joy out of it?” he mumbled, a crooked smile on his lips.
“I’ll do, promise.”
Nodding he glanced at his watch, cursing that he was now running late. Again.

Colin’s nap was rudely interrupted by a knock on his front door. Once he didn’t answer the first time, it sounded again. With a groan, he released the pillow he’d been hugging to his chest and slowly sat up.
“Come in! It’s open.”
Still busy rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and yawning, he didn’t see her enter his apartment at first.
“You know that’s gotta stop.” “What’s gotta stop?” He asked, standing up and stretching. His bare state of clothing flustered her, as she quickly turned away from him.
“Don’t you have anything to wear?!”
“I’m not naked,” he butted in.
“But not dressed either!” Wanting to indulge her, he grabbed the discarded shorts by the side of his couch and slipped into them.
“Better?” Carefully she looked behind her, peeking at him. She huffed a little, seeing he still lacked a shirt, but decided it was better than nothing.
“Now what were you saying?” Looking at her in question, Colin patiently waited for the answer. It seemed to have been rather dire the way she hadn’t even greeted him. Now however she seemed unable to get the words out.
Her eyes flitted through his space, teeth nibbling at her bottom lip as she contemplated. Then they locked onto something.
“If you keep using my apartment and me to get rid of your nightly companions I want compensation.” She looked at him, crossing her arms before her chest.
Colin spluttered in surprise, the laugh falling from his lips. “Compensation? Do you want me to make you breakfast whenever I come over? Or lunch?”
“No.”
“No? Then uh…” Well, he wasn’t sure what else he could offer her.
“I’m going to take this as payment.” With that, she walked past him and bent down toward his laundry basket, in which his freshly washed shirts rested. He had been too lazy to put them away. As she stood back up she clutched a shirt of his in her hands.
“My shirt?” He asked her.
“Yep.”
If that's what she wanted, Colin wasn’t going to argue. Even if he couldn’t understand why exactly she wanted one of his shirts.
“That’s all?”
His words made her stop and think. Colin started to grin at the way her eyebrows furrowed and her nose scrunched up in concentration. It was cute. She was cute.
“Well, you don’t seem to be able to offer me much otherwise.”
“Ouch,” he winced, grabbing his chest in mock hurt.
“You know I just got paid, let me take you out.”
She looked at him with big eyes.
“I take you out now and you can have as many shirts as you want as long as I have enough to wear too, deal?”
Colin held his hand out for her, waiting on her decision. Chewing her bottom lip she seemed to contemplate the offer. In the end, she nodded and put her hand in his. They shook hands.
“Deal. You can keep hiding in my apartment and I’m allowed to steal your shirts.”
A deal made, she patiently waited for him to shrug on a shirt plus shoes and grab his wallet. Together they walked out of his apartment.
“But why the shirts? No judgment, I’m just curious.” Colin asked as they walked down the stairs together.
“Keeps creepy guys away if they think I’m taken,” she answered with a shrug and a smile.
“Huh,” he mumbled, watching her from the corner of his eye. He knew mayhaps a better solution for that.

Sunlight crept into the room through the cracks in the blinds, illuminating the room sporadically. Pouring over the bed the light cast long lines across the bedding, warming her cheek and arm.
All could have been fantastic on this cozy, beautiful morning had the light not come from the wrong side of the room. This small, lone fact was the reason she couldn’t drift off into sleep once more. Instead, she carefully opened up her eyes, first one and then the other, and peered into the room that was not hers.
It looked familiar. It was, as she noticed the guitar leaning against a chair and a strong, warm pair of arms wrapped around her, that she remembered – or rather realized – where she was.
Colin’s.
Right. They’d been out yesterday evening.
Colin had taken her out, they’d eaten at the promenade and walked through the park to a cheap but excellent cocktail bar. That’s how she ended up in this bed.
Well, she had planned to end up in his living room, lured in by Colin’s offer to let the final part of the evening fade out with the comfort of his couch under her butt, a cool beer in her hand, and perhaps a little drunken serenade with his guitar.
Judging how the guitar remained in its stand, seemingly untouched, they had skipped the serenade and gone straight for the tumble in the sheets.
As she sunk back into the mattress, Colin curled around her back, his breath tickling her bare shoulder, she thought that this was something she could get used to.
Falling back asleep seemed easy at that moment, weren’t it for her stomach grumpily disrupting the – not so early – morning peace.
“Colin, come on!” She whined, pouting at the brunette opposite her. He only grinned, wallet pulled from his pocket as he shook his head.
“Nope. I invited you so I pay.”
“I don’t want to be indebted..”, she muttered quietly, not noticing the frown that momentarily crossed his face.
“Hey, now. Nothing of this ‘being in debt’, you aren’t. But if you so badly want to do something in return you can.”
“I can?”
He nodded at her, thinking hard for a couple of moments. “How about you treat us to breakfast tomorrow morning?”
She snorted quietly but thought about it. “Alright. Hangover breakfast is on me tomorrow morning.”
That memory of the previous evening made her whine quietly. She wasn’t in the slightest mood to get dressed appropriately enough to leave the confines of Colin’s apartment. Leaving the house was too much work.
Hungry she was nonetheless and her annoyingly vocal stomach wouldn’t let her forget it either. Once more it grumbled, gurgling louder than the first time, a steadily growing monster waiting to be fed.
She froze but Colin didn’t rouse in the slightest and so, after waiting a couple more ticks of the clock – there was no way the grump that demanded to be fed could wait any longer – she gradually wiggled out of his grip and climbed from his bed.
Their clothes were strewn in all directions of the room, she wasn’t even sure it was all of them. One however stood out. It was the shirt he had worn the previous evening. And even though she spied her shirt just beside it, it was the former she grabbed and lazily shrugged on.
When Colin awoke two things were out of place. One, he had expected to wake up with company. There was a pang in his chest at the cool and empty sheets ruffled around his waist, clearly used by another body but long left behind.
He’d been so sure that what he understood to be going on between them, what he felt was budding, was mutual. Now he wasn’t so sure anymore. Perhaps he had read into it too much, perhaps he had run ahead at a pace she wouldn’t go.
But then there was the second thing out of place. If he was alone, which he assumed, where was this delicious smell coming from? He couldn’t mope in his disappointment for long, his stomach faster than his brain.
Stumbling out of bed, he grabbed his boxers, discarded at the foot of the bed. Every other clothing forgotten or ignored in favor of finding the source of this heavenly smell.
Even more amazing than the smell of breakfast was the sight before him, as he descended the couple of steps into the main space of his apartment. There he found his fled bed buddy and what a sight to behold she was.
It was simple, her state of dress and style. Hair down, ruffled in the back from their canoodling and sleep following it, barefoot and barely dressed. In fact, as Colin stepped closer – sneaking up on her, as she hadn’t noticed him yet – he observed the single item of clothing she was wearing closer.
“Is that my shirt?” He asked with a grin and a raised brow, leaning against the wall that closed off the kitchen halfway. Her head snapped around, eyes briefly widening as she looked him up and down. Colin’s grin grew, he bit on his lower lip and relished in the way she eyed him.
A low moan slipped past his lips as he got his confirmation, she was wearing his shirt. It triggered something in him, something innate and primal. Not to mention the arousal coursing through his veins at the look, but there was more. He never wanted to see a different sight than her in his shirt.
She shrugged her shoulders, finished with eyeing him up and thinking of a calm but clever answer. “You don’t like it? Want me to take it off?”
Colin growled quietly, his eyes darkening. Pushing off the wall he stalked up to her until they were nose to nose, toes to toes.
“I like it more than I can express, don’t want to see you ever again in anything else.” His words took her breath, a small gasp left her lips as she glanced up at him. There was no doubt in her that he meant every word he said.
“Although I can’t decide if I want you to keep it on so I can savor the look or if I want to rip it off of you right now.”
A shiver ran down her spine, tension coiling in her stomach. It was palpable, the air thick with crackling energy, tiny bolts sizzling between them.
The smell of food and the crackle of the stove brought her back. Clearing her throat she motioned toward the cooking breakfast.
“Food first.”
Colin hummed, coming impossibly closer to her. “Food first, then dessert.” His fingers tugged at the hem of the shirt. With a boyish grin on his lips, he tried to peek down the collar, all the while his fingers contradictory tried to tug the shirt up to get a peek elsewhere.
With a laugh she pushed his hands off, turning back towards the stove and Colin sighed in playful defeat.
Tumblr media
“Come on Shea, don’t be a coward,” Colin murmured under his breath, chin tucked close to his chest as he hopped from one foot to the other in front of his door. “It’s just a shirt.”
Said shirt in his hands felt like it was made out of lead. It wasn’t the material that weighed so much but the implication behind it. Which, in truth, was even more stupid than if in his hand he had a shirt actually made out of lead.
Time had passed since he had last seen her wear his shirt that morning in his kitchen. Time in which the two of them had gone on many more outings – dates they’d agreed to name them – crowned with the agreement of going steady.
And while Colin had gained a girlfriend, he had lost the previous agreement of compensation, her need for cashing in the demand for one of his shirts void. Instead of hiding in her apartment from his flavors of the night, the two of them either woke up together in one of their apartments or met for a shared breakfast.
There was no way Colin would ever want to go back to how it was before, but he did have to admit that he missed having her come in to collect her payment and he missed it even more to see her wear one of his shirts just casually. So he was going to do something about it.
Today.
Right now.
With a sigh and a crack of his neck following the roll of his shoulders, he turned the doorknob and strode out of his apartment. Right across the hallway, past the staircase and to her door, opposite of his.
She was lounging on her sofa, caught up in the depths of a book as Colin sauntered down the four steps into the living space. It was right about then that he stopped as if he had slammed into an invisible wall.
Surprised, he asked, “Is that my shirt?”
Dropping the book into her lap, she looked up at him but all Colin could focus on was the print of the – clearly too big – shirt on her frame. He hadn’t expected to see her wearing a shirt of his. He hadn’t even noticed it was gone.
“What…when did you..” he muttered, scratching the back of his head in bafflement, too dumbfounded to end the train of thought let alone the sentence.
In amusement she snorted at her stunned boyfriend, smiling and feeling a sense of pride and triumph.
“Took you long enough to realize,” she grinned at him, happy how good of a job she had done. It was then she noticed the fabric in his hand, hanging limply at his side.
“Did you steal more of my shirts?”
Instead of answering, she asked her own question. “What’s that?”
Colin’s eyes followed hers, zeroing in on the shirt in his hands. He hadn’t forgotten it, okay he might have, but his reasons were good! Now he raised the newly discovered article of clothing in his hand, his mission coming back to mind.
“I, ugh- I wanted to give you this to..” He sighed, whining at the look of delight on her face, “Stop it!”
“Stop what?”
“Enjoying this so much!” He growled, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. She laughed as Colin stalked towards her. Plopping down on the sofa beside her he contemplated if it was worth it to try to tickle her.
She had a mean kick, a fact he had regrettably learned through firsthand – foot – contact. It was an experience he had no need to relieve a second time.
“I’m sorry, you are just too cute,” she muttered, leaning over to press a kiss to his lips. Colin hummed and chased the softness of her lips.
“Kiss me some more and I might forgive you.” “Forgive me?” She taunted, a brow raised in mock as her eyes glinted with mischief.
“Yeah. That or you can tell me since when you have this and why I haven’t seen you wear it until now.” Her wearing his clothes had an undeniable reaction on Colin. He couldn’t get enough of the sight. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen only second to her beauty when she lay sweaty and naked beneath him.
His words made her roll her eyes, but the smile never faltered. “Colin you obviously haven’t paid close enough attention, I’ve been wearing your shirts nonstop.”
“Really?”
“Yeah really. If you had been not so busy trying to get me naked every chance you get–”
“–I didn’t hear you complaining before!” With another eye roll, she leaned forward and kissed him again, mainly to shut him up.
“As I was saying, I’ve been wearing them fairly regularly. I snuck a shirt or two out of your apartment a couple of times.” Admitting it suddenly made her shy.
Colin however looked at her entirely smitten. His arm wrapped around her, knuckles rubbing the space between her shoulder blades in comfort and to encourage her to continue.
“I like wearing them,” she admitted, chewing on her bottom lip, “they smell like you and that is comforting. And I kinda got used to it.”
Colin’s heart stuttered and swelled with warmth. “I love you.”
The thought, no, the feeling had been lingering in him for a while now but there had never been the right time in his mind to tell her. But right now felt like the perfect time. He could no longer hold this a secret, not when she invoked such vivid feelings in his chest. Colin had never felt so deeply and strongly for anyone.
In surprise she sucked in her breath, the air whistling between her lips. She looked at him with widened eyes. Colin could see the various emotions flit over her eyes, her mind working at lightning speed to process the words. And once they finally did, warmth flooded her expression.
“I love you too,” she whispered softly, breathily.
Tumblr media
Laughter intercrossed the patter of water against tiles and glass. The spray of liquid obscured the two bodies, ripples of steam rose from their feet and swirled upwards between their legs. The warm water softly cascaded down over them, hair soaked and clinging to their bare skin.
A soft giggle escaped her lips at the tickling breath crossing her shoulder. There was the scratch of stubble from Colin’s cheeks grazing her neck mixing into the sensation. He nosed along her shoulder, lips hovering just a breath away.
Yet it was his hands that drew the happy sounds out of her, the little giggles and bigger waves of laughter, and in between the little sighs as well. He was feeling her up, his hands restlessly traveling over the planes of her body, fingertips gently caressing the bare skin. If not for the warm spray of water he’d have reduced her to shivers. Alas, he hadn’t come that far yet.
All of it was slow and languid. They had all the time in the world. The rest of their lives. Now even more so as the matching bands on their hands twinkled in unison in the refracting lights.
Colin took his time, arms wrapped around her, hands softly drawing up and down her sides. He was comfortably draped around her back, herself leaning into the hold, head resting on his shoulder. He couldn’t have been happier.
Focused entirely on the other, on their intimate togetherness, their bodies swayed softly following their natural rhythm, an instinctual dance.
A gasp left her as his lips pressed onto the column of her neck, trailing along to the crossing where her shoulder fused with her collarbone. The gasp turned into a breathless hum, kisses turning to small nibbles and soft strokes on her skin to hungry paws of her flesh.
“Colin,” she hummed into the warm, steam-mottled air, eyes fluttering shut. His traveling hands halted just under the swell of her breast, thumbs drawing over the bottom most part of her curves.
“Yes, my love? My wife.” She felt him grin into the sentence, lips tugging upwards against her skin, emphasized by another nibble, this time at the edge of her jaw, just below her ear.
The term still felt new and unfamiliar but she was certain she’d find a quick liking to it, just as she had found to address him as her husband.
“Room Service is going to be there any moment now.”
“And?”
“Someone’ll need to answer them.”
“Can’t they just leave it outside the room? I’m sure they can wait.” He couldn’t see her brows furrow from his position but he heard the whine coming from deep within her chest.
“But breakfast… my caffeine.”
“You are such an addict,” he laughed against her skin, groping fingers briefly turning to tickle her sides. She squealed, hand reaching back to pinch him into the side making him yelp in surprise.
“If you want to keep your wife happy you better not stand up the room service with our breakfast.”
With a heavy-hearted sigh and droopily hanging shoulders Colin relented. “Alright, alright. You’ll get your breakfast,” he promised her, pressing one last kiss against her temple before his arms slid from her frame.
He was already halfway out of the shower when she called to him once more. As he turned around lips pressed against his, the kiss broken only by the obnoxious knock against their hotel room door.
A short exchange with the friendly hotel employee congratulating him on their wedding later, Colin was wheeling the trolley filled with deliciously smelling breakfast into their hotel room.
“Sweetheart, breakfast is here!”
It took her less than two seconds to open the door of the bathroom and step out. And Colin? He had to do a double take, eyes raking over her form. He had the most gorgeous wife, he was sure of it and right now she looked like a goddess there to bless his life.
His eyes traveled up from her feet over her bare legs to the hem of…
“Is that my shirt?” He asked her, lips forming into a grin. It had become their little game, their inside joke, this one question. One question that had started their journey and let them on the path to happiness.
“Hm, no. It’s my husbands.” She hummed, lips parting in a cheeky grin as her fingers ran along the button facing of his dress shirt. The one he’d worn yesterday during their ceremony and the following celebration.
She’d buttoned only two buttons in front of her chest, barely enough to keep her covered, a teasing amount of skin still peeking through. The ends of the shirt brushed against her upper thighs as she crossed the room.
Colin snorted in amusement, eyes never leaving her. He watched her with hunger in his eyes, a hunger that wasn’t directed at the food in front of him.
“Your husbands?” He asked, crossing his arms.
“Yep. He is the best.”
“He is?”
“Yeah, when he’s not taking forever with breakfast and keeping me from my morning caffeine at least.”
“Hey!” Colin laughed, reaching for her in playful anger. She squealed once more, jumping out of his reach, her laughter mixing with his.
“Okay, I take it back! I take it back, Colin!”
Still, he held her in his arms, hands grabbing her around her waist, the thin fabric of his shirt barely concealing the feel of her beneath his palms. Her arms wrapped around his neck, nimble fingers caressing the short hair at the back of his skull. A lazy grin settled on his lips as he took a long, appreciative look at her.
“You are beautiful,” he told her, leaning forward to capture her lips in another kiss. He’d never get enough of her, how she tasted. And as they parted once more, he glimpsed down, eyes peeking under his dress shirt. Groaning loudly, his hands slipped from her waist.
“Hurry up with your coffee, I’m hungry,” he moaned and she laughed.
“There’s an entire trolley full of food.”
“Not that kind of hungry.”

Colin lay on the couch in misery, the small fan before him blowing sadly through the room. More than moving some of the uncomfortably heated air through the room its power wouldn’t allow. There was no relief from the icky way he felt.
It was hot, it was sticky, it was sweaty.
“When did the repair guy say again he’d be there?” He called out into the house, the effort almost taking too much energy from him as he poked out his tongue.
Even stripped down to his underwear he was barely standing the heat. Anything more simply too hot to wear, he was contemplating losing even the last fickle piece of clothing. Although it wouldn’t do much either.
“Tomorrow!” His wife's call came from somewhere in the house, but Colin was too lazy to track where from more closely.
“Tomorrow better be coming fast.” With a groan, he pushed off the coach, the floor beneath his feet disappointingly warm. More than sluggish steps he couldn’t muster as he trudged towards the kitchen. There he found her standing in front of the fridge.
“Cooling yourself off?” He asked, smirking as she was mostly hidden behind the opened door.
“I’m miserable,” she whined, her head peeking out from behind the door to look at him. Colin’s heart did a salto in his chest, a frown appearing on her lips immediately after.
“I’m sorry baby.” He was wishing he could aid her somehow, make her feel more comfortable. But alas Colin couldn’t even help himself feel more comfortable right now. It made him feel useless, the sensation heavy in his stomach even as he attempted to swallow it down.
She huffed, stepping back and closing the door before the fridge could start to beep. If only she could have it open forever, at least the fridge meant a small moment of alleviation. It was just their luck that the AC unit had to break during the height of summer.
“Colin this is all your fault,” she huffed again, pressing her hands to the small of her back as she swayed on the balls of her feet. Her complaints flew entirely over his head as Colin's eyes – and brain – zeroed in on one thing only. Everything else around him forgotten.
There it was, pulling all attention to it, the rather pronounced bump she was sporting, peeking out between the fabric of her shirt. He couldn’t believe it even now. Pregnant. Soon to be three, their family was going to add another person. She was growing a little him and her in there.
He wanted to fall to his knees and weep whenever the image hit him like it did now. He wanted to worship her, cradle her in his arms, carry her on his hands.
Mesmerized by the view, his fingers itched to touch her belly, to rub his hands all over it. He held back the urge, if only for the fact he knew it would make her feel even hotter than she was. Colin wasn’t about to make it even worse if he couldn’t help soothe her afterward. Then again, even with the AC working she’d been barely above feeling miserable before.
“You’ve almost got it baby. We’re on the last stretch.” It was a fickle reminder, a promise that it would be over sooner rather than later. But even that could only help so much when every minute felt like an eternity and every hour passed slower than the one before.
His eyes stayed focused on the continuously growing bump as she shifted, turning around to him and with her, the fabric around her body shifted too. It caught the edge of his attention, the glimpse of it startled him out of his focus as he eyed it closer for the first time.
“Is that my good dress shirt?” His brow raised in question and surprise. It was nothing new for her to wear his things but mostly she preferred his t-shirts over everything. And adding to it Colin was certain that shirt had been buried in the furthest corner of his wardrobe. He wasn’t even sure if it had seen the light of day since their wedding.
“Yeah,” she shrugged her shoulders, “I’m not going to cook in one of your shirts. It’s too warm and I’m miserable enough already.”
“I’m not complaining,” he snorted happily, now taking his time to eye her up and down.
“You’ll never get tired of ogling me, will you?”
“Nope.” Putting emphasis on the p Colin brightly grinned at her. “Not when you always look so smokin’ hot.” He couldn’t help it, he was fully attracted to her. And she wasn’t making it much easier for him, wearing only cotton panties and a tiny bralette beneath his unbuttoned shirt. Not to mention the changes in her body the pregnancy brought forth were an even bigger turn-on for him.
“Don’t even think of getting turned on right now. It’s too hot for that. If so, you can make do with your hand.” Her disgruntled words made him laugh and nod.
“Come on, I have an idea to cool you down a little.”
“Is it a new, functioning AC unit?” She asked him full of undiluted hope, teeth coming down upon her bottom lip.
“Sorry baby.” He had to disappoint. Putting his hands on her shoulders and softly guiding her towards the living room Colin added, “You gotta make do with the fan until tomorrow. Now go sit down on the couch.”
She looked over her shoulder at him once more, her eyes searching for a cue. At last, she nodded, cutely waddling toward the living room. Colin already knew he’d miss this soon.
“It’s the ice cream man~” Colin’s sing-song voice carried over to her shortly after, her husband stepping into the living room moments later. In one hand he held two glasses, ice cubes sloshing in the liquid content, and in his other hand two packs of ice cream. Her heart leaped at the view of him.
“You’re the best,” she murmured, gladly taking the ice cream from his hand and eagerly ripping the packaging open so she could get a taste of the sinfully cool treat. What had her hum more than the pleasure of the cool creamy sweetness on her lips was the cool press of glass that Colin held against her neck. Any other moment and she would have flinched away, now the groan that left her lips was almost obscene.
“You enjoying yourself?” He asked as he plopped down beside her, a mindful distance away. There was nothing more that she wanted than to cuddle into his side – besides a functioning AC maybe – but it was simply too warm.
“Oh yeah,” she muttered, too busy eating her ice cream to care much for anything else going on around her. So much in fact she pliantly let Colin maneuver her feet into his lap. Expertly he opened his own ice cream with the aid of his teeth.
“You and your skills,” she mused with a raise of her brow, “That’s what got us into this situation in the first place.”
Colin snickered in amusement, shaking his head. He looked at her, eyes glinting in mischief as he took the first lick of his ice cream.
“Nah, I think you’re mistaken. Me not using this skill is what got us into this situation,” he answered cheekily, for a moment forgoing his own restraint to let his hand roam over her swollen middle. His heart always leaped in excitement whenever he felt the life growing there beneath his hand.
His darling wife eyed his hand, rolling her eyes at his words, and decided to enjoy her ice in peace. Colin kept his hand roaming a little more, disappointed when nothing roused beneath his hand and so he joined her in enjoying his ice cream.
Much later, after they’d eaten their ice cream and their glasses were almost empty, some last stubborn ice cubes refusing to melt in them, Colin had slouched down far enough on the couch to have pressed some tickling kisses against the edge of her rips and the swell of her bump.
His glass, which he had mostly kept resting with his wrist on top of her feet, occasionally pressing the chilled glass against them to watch her sigh in relief, gave him an idea.
One eye prying open as his ministrations had stopped, she watched him fish an ice cube out of the class.
A shiver ran down her spine at the ice-cold feel of the translucent cuboid that Colin pressed against her belly. If it weren’t feeling so nice she would scold him. It felt too good and so she instead watched him draw transparent shapes. They laughed in unison as someone at last stirred in her belly, movements and a kick becoming visible under her skin.

Colin felt bone-weary, ready-to-drop-dead tired. Exhaustion oozed from every pore of his being. With his eyes closed the greatest temptation right now was to simply fall asleep reclined on the couch where he sat. Work had been exhausting and while he enjoyed it with every ounce of his being there were moments he’d wished back to the time he’d been a struggling artist. Although if the choice were to arise he’d never actually go through with it. He’d never give up his life as it was, no way he’d ever leave them behind.
His lips curled upwards as he heard the shrill giggles coming closer, the shuffling feet in the hallway. Cracking one eye open, just in time, he watched his wife walk into the living room, their toddler propped on her hip.
With a grin powerful enough to split his face he opened his arms, holding them out in wanton for his baby. She laughed at him, rolling her eyes as he made grabby hands for both. Pointing towards him she diverted their little one's attention. Big blue eyes, the same as his, landed on him. In an instant that tiny little face split beaming, tiny limbs becoming wiggly.
“Alright, alright. You have no patience, just like your dad,” he heard her mutter to their little one in amusement. Both of them wiggled in unison, undivided happiness.
“Watch.”
At first, Colin was confused, unsure what she meant. Quickly his confusion melted away, replaced by wonder and delight. Setting down the toddler, tiny hands securely clasped in her much bigger ones, Colin watched in amazement as plump little feet stumbled toward him. Clumsy yet determined their little one waddled over him, a look of concentration that had Colin’s heart grow exponentially.
And then those tiny hands, previously clasped in his wive’s, landed on his knees, grip surprisingly strong as he was used as a prop to stand. It was then that Colin noticed it.
“Is that my shirt?” he asked in surprise, looking up at his wife. How he’d missed the ginormous piece of fabric hanging from the much smaller frame of their toddler he had no idea. It was hilarious how the shirt swallowed the child almost entirely and it was as they cooed and looked around that he noticed the tie at their back, holding the shirt upon their frame.
Colin snorted in amusement, watching as his wife plopped down beside him on the couch. In turn he leaned forward, hands shooting out to pull the toddler onto his lap in a surprise attack.
“It’s a little big don’t you think?” He teased with a raised brow, fingers tickling the little one. Their shrill laughter was music in his ears. Colin knew he’d never be able to get enough of this. These moments of pure delight, of happiness, and the best memories he’d ever be able to make.
“Only a little,” she agreed in amusement, fingers reaching out to fuss with their little ones' fringe. “Give it a couple of years and that shirt will fit just alright.”
Gasping in disagreement, Colin frowned and pulled the child against his chest, arms tightly wrapped around. His lips curled upwards at the happy giggles, fingers itching for another tickle attack. “How can you say that? No growing up, I won’t allow it!”
This in turn had her laugh and shake her head, “I don’t think that’s how it works Colin.”
For a short moment he looked actually stricken, brows furrowed in contemplation. The grin that spread across his face afterward meant nothing good. Suspicion arose in her as he leaned over to her, nose nuzzling her cheek before he pressed a kiss there.
“Guess we need another one then.”
“Another one?” She asked him in surprise. His eyes twinkled as he nodded, the look had her heart hammer in her chest and a warmth erupt in her stomach.
“Gotta make sure we always have one at that age, so we never run out of those moments.”
Laughter bubbled in her throat, crossing her lips in disbelief, “Let’s focus on one more first. It’s not you who has to endure it all for 9 months, dear husband.”
But Colin didn’t listen, all he heard was one thing. “So that’s a yes?”
“Go sit down I’ll change ‘em,” Colin murmured into her ear, hand softly rubbing across her back as they trudged into their house. She sighed in thanks, first pressing a kiss onto their little one's cheek before Colin received a peck on the lips.
The second she plopped down on the couch, her shoes were off. Relief flooded her agitated toes, glad to be out of the tight confinements of her heels. It didn’t take long for Colin to return, still dressed dapperly as could be. He cleaned up exceptionally well and effortlessly, something she was ever jealous of.
Their little one propped on his arm, he carried the little one holding their favorite toy. In the middle of the living room, he left the child down, which with an almost theatrically plop flopped down on their behind, playing by themselves.
Colin followed shortly after, plopping down equally theatrically beside her on the couch and with a yawn wrapped his arm around her. Happily, she snuggled against his side, head resting on his shoulder.
“It was fun,” she mused. Colin hummed, pressing a kiss onto her crown.
“It was, but also damn exhausting. Suddenly I understand the appeal of a childless wedding. No one can tell me that’s not to give all the poor parents a night off as much as it is for the couple.”
She snorted in agreement. While it had been fun attending their friends' wedding with their little one, it had been just as exhausting.
“How long do you think until they knock out?”
“Could be minutes but could also be another hour or so.”
“Let’s hope for the first,” Colin murmured against her hair, pressing another kiss there as his thumbs caressed her side.
There was no space between them left but that didn’t stop her from trying to snuggle even closer to her husband as she watched their little one play by themselves. As she did, she noticed something. Their little outfit had been replaced by nothing other than…
“Is that your shirt?” Colin beside her started to snicker, she could feel the proud grin practically against her temple.
“Took you long enough to notice,” amusement filled his voice as he taunted her, “You started something there baby.”
“I started it?”
“Yeah, you,” Colin emphasized the words by tapping his finger against her nose, winking at her, “I remember you putting my shirt on them and the rest is history.”
He wasn’t entirely wrong. Ever since their little one would ask to wear the shirt again.
“I wasn’t about to deal with a tantrum by denying our overtired kiddo to wear the shirt instead of their jammies.”
That certainly had been a wise decision. They always could switch it out once they were fast asleep. One more thing Colin had inherited his firstborn. Sleeping like the dead.
“It was either the tee or my dress shirt.” Colin grinned at her as she snorted, shaking her head. “You know I’m pretty sure that’s also thanks to you.”
“Why me again?” She asked, curious about his reasoning. Colin shuffled a little, sinking further down into the plush sofa, and stretched out his legs.
“Well, you basically wore nothing else for like half the pregnancy.”
“I don’t think that’s how genetics work Colin.”
Colin shrugged his shoulders, grinning down at her. He didn’t care if it worked like that or not. It was his explanation and he would stick with it until she had a better one for him.
“You better have some extra ones or you can start saying farewell to them,” she hummed, pressing a kiss to his jaw, which confused and startled him. Turning to watch her, Colin raised both his brows. “What does that mean?”
She smiled at him, softly and in what he liked to call her ‘totally smitten’ way, the way that always made his heartbeat add an extra step. He looked down, watching her finger draw little hearts across his chest as she hummed.
“It means,” with that she grabbed his hand, slowly guiding it towards her middle, “that you’re going to get what you asked for. A little sibling for the kiddo.”

Colin didn’t like this. He didn’t like this at all. He thought you might sit to watch some random sports channel with him, get bored, and beg him for cuddles. But no, here you are, mouth agape as you stare at the shirtless athlete. His eyes squint as he swears there’s drool dripping from the side of your mouth. Colin huffs, “What do you even see in that guy? His abs aren’t even that impressive.”
You blink, a pout growing on your lips as you turn your head to look at him. “What do you mean?” You turn your attention back to the tv and gawk at the handsome man, licking your lips as your eyes drag down his chiselled sweaty body. “He’s like… A god… So, perfect… So beautiful, I mean… Have you ever seen someone with a body like that?” You miss the growl that escapes him, a darkened look in his eyes, not noticing him moving slowly closer to you.
Colin couldn’t take it anymore. He could feel his heart squeezing inside his chest at the thought of you finding another man more attractive than him. The green monster enters his body, making him only see green as you continue to ogle another man. You gasp as Colin grips the back of your neck and turns your head to face him. Your widened eyes meet his lust-filled ones, and a soft whimper escapes you as he crashes his lips into yours. He pushes you down onto the couch, climbing on top of you and pressing his lips harder into you, slipping his tongue inside your mouth. “You’re mine.”
You whimper as he grinds his bulge into your sopping cunt. His lips move against yours as if they're dancing, his tongue dominating yours before he disconnects, pulling away to watch the string of saliva break, and he buries his face into your neck, licking, sucking and biting on it. Colin feels his cock throb from the little whimpers that slip from your lips, and your nails dig into his back as he presses himself harder against you, grunting at the feeling of your damp knickers. “C–Colin… F–feels good, please….” You whine, hand moving up his back and to his hair, running your hands through the silky strands as your back arches.
His lips crash into yours again, hips moving faster against you, and one hand grips your hips while the other cups your cheek. His end approaches quickly, grunts and groans filling the room as rubbing against you feels too good. Your little legs wrap around him, hips moving to chase his movements, your eyes slip close as you fall deeper into his kiss and the bliss of pleasure coming from your core. “You going to cum, baby? Gonna cum in your little knickers, hmm? Gonna cum just from me rubbing against you, such a naughty slut.” You moan, and your eyes roll back as you feel your juices gush out of you, turning red with embarrassment. Colin grunts, looking down to see the wet patch on the front of his undies, feeling his cock twitch. “Jesus, baby. Gonna make me cum like a goddamn teenager.” His pace picks up more, grinding harder into you until he feels thick spurts of cum shoot out of his tip and fill his boxers.
You whine, shivering with pleasure as you watch him cum, biting your lip as you stare at the panting man with half-lidded eyes. Colin’s eyes open, catching yours before smirking. “Think you’ll be watching another man now?” You nod, and he looks at you, shocked.
“If it makes you react like this, I’ll continue to do it.” You giggle.
“Why, you little–” He cuts off as he tickles you, smiling down at you as you burst out into laughter, begging him to stop.

Tired of the Temporary
Summary: You lost your beloved cat, Mavis. Your gorgeous neighbor is there to comfort you, and although you adore him, you don’t want to be another notch. Is he tired of temporary?
Colin Shea x Reader (You)

A/N: As always, thank you so much to @peyton-warren who always cheers me on. I was blocked by my own grief, hopefully this will allow me to continue on.
This is purely a comfort piece for me as I just lost my sweet cat unexpectedly. Colin is one of my comfort characters, so I hope anyone else who needs comfort can find it here 💙
Warnings: Pet death, euthanasia, angst-so much angst, Fluffy ending
It had all happened so fast. You’d just woken up, your sweet cat curled up next to you. She chuffed when you moved, irritated at the interruption to her beauty sleep. Mavis stood up and stretched, her two front paws stretched out in front of her, her back end in the air, yawning wide before she jumped off the bed.
You threw your covers back and made your way to the bathroom, then into the kitchen to feed Mavis who was already standing and meowing at the cabinet where you stored her food. She sat down, looking at you expectantly, and you were pretty sure if she could talk, you’d be getting an earful. You stopped to pat her head, always loving her purr while eating.
You made your way back to the bathroom to shower and get your morning started. This was your one day off this week and you’d made plans to hang out with Colin, your very handsome man whore of a neighbor. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t have feelings for him, the two of you spending more and more time together, but you were also wary. You’d seen the revolving door of women, you didn’t want to be just another one night stand, so you kept your feelings to yourself and your heart out of reach.
You’d just turned off the water, your thoughts running through your mental checklist as you got dressed when you heard Mavis yowl. You quickly threw on your hoodie and jeans, running out to the living room. Your heart dropped when you saw her, unable to stand no matter how hard she tried, her cries alerting you to her excruciating pain.
“Mavis?!” you yelled, dropping to your knees next to her, checking for any obvious signs of trauma or injury. When you got to her hind legs, you immediately noticed the limpness, the temperature cooler than the rest of her body. You knew what this was, she’d thrown a clot called a Saddle Thrombosis, a fancy way of saying a clot that paralyzes.
Time was of the essence, you knew as you scooped her up carefully, cradling her in your arms as you whispered she would be okay. Thankfully you didn’t live too far from the veterinary clinic you worked at, a five minute drive at the most, even shorter as you ran red lights. You pulled to a screeching stop, barely shutting your door as you ran into the clinic, Mavis having gone frightfully still.
You ran past the reception area directly into the back treatment room, calling for the doctor. You placed Mavis on the treatment table and moved to grab the emergency supply kit when the doctor came in, followed by the other two veterinary techs on duty. You pulled out the supplies to place an IV catheter, tearing the tape as you went.
“What happened?” Doctor Yang said as she made her way to the treatment table, gently pulling you back and out of the way so she and the techs could work. You explained everything to her, not even realizing you had started crying until you felt a tear hit your hand, a prequel to the tornado about to rip your world apart.
“I need you to go to a room and let us work,” Yang said gently as she palpated Mavis’ spine to evaluate where she was hurting and where the paralysis began. You knew she was right, you were too close to this, there was nothing you could do while you were blinded by your emotions. You silently left the treatment area and made your way to the waiting room.
After what felt like an eternity, Dr. Yang made her way to the waiting room, her face somber, a face you’d seen many times, the face she made when she had to deliver a terminal diagnosis or heartbreaking news. Yang had gotten only as far as apologizing before you dropped to your knees. You heard a keen wail, not realizing you were hearing yourself.
“I’m so sorry, she isn’t going to make it. You know I will do whatever you want, but you know the odds of her surviving after throwing a clot this large are very slim,” Yang said. “I need to know what you want to do here. If you want us to try, I need to get back there now.” Yang gently squeezed your shoulder, bringing you back to reality. As you stared into her face, looking for any direction, you knew what you needed to do. You told Yang your decision, compassion crossing the woman’s face.
You were led to the euthanasia room to wait for Mavis, your final goodby looming over the horizon. You’d thought about this day for so long, wondering how you would feel, how much it would hurt, wondering if you’d ever be able to love another cat the way you loved her. The door opened as Dr. Yang entered with the two other techs in tow, and the receptionist.
“We closed the clinic,” the receptionist, Julia, told you as her eyes filled with tears. “You need friends, and we need to say goodbye too. We all love Mavis so much.” Everyone nodded in agreement as the new tech, you weren’t too sure of her name, placed Mavis in your lap, wrapped in a warm blanket.
“We already gave her the pre med in the back,” Yang said softly as she flushed the IV with saline. You cried harder, kissing Mavis on the head and telling her over and over how much you loved her, how it was okay for her to go, how you would never forget her while the doc administered the medication to stop the heart. You cried harder, your sobs eching through the room, Yang nodding to confirm she was gone.
Everyone in the room was sobbing, and slowly one by one, they all left until it was just you. You kept holding Mavis, telling her how good she was, telling her over and over how much you loved her. After about an hour, you pushed the button to alert the front desk that you were done and they could come and take Mavis.
You weren’t sure how you made it home, the drive was a blur and done completely by muscle memory. You couldn’t stop crying, your eyes expressing a sorrow you’d never felt before, a piece of your soul ripped from your existence. You weren’t sure how you managed to get into your apartment, your tears streaming endlessly. You kicked off your shoes, not even bothering to change, and went straight to your bed to lay down, pulling your duvet over your head. Your tears dampened your pillow, catching every moment of sorrow.
You weren’t sure when you fell asleep or what woke you up, however you looked around confused wondering if it was all a horrible nightmare. You sat up and looked around, calling for Mavis with all of the hope you could muster, collapsing back into your grief at the realization you wouldn’t be waking up from this nightmare.
You slid even further down your bed, pulling your covers over your head as you sobbed, your heart shattered.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Mavis and you had found each other at very difficult times, you having just lost your mother, Mavis having lost hers also. You’d heard the tiny cries, following the sound to a tiny kitten, hungry and scared.
You took her with you, with the intention of taking her to a shelter as you weren’t sure you had the emotional capacity to care for another living creature, but you’d have to take care of her over the long weekend. You put your tiny friend in your purse, got back into your car to get some supplies.
You stocked up on wet food and kitten milk as she couldn’t have been older than three weeks, along with a litter box, and lots of toys. You heard the tiny cries as you made your way home, and held her as you set up her little spot with a heating pad, litterbox, toys, and blankets. You tried to put her down to make her a bottle, her tiny cries breaking your heart.
After she had her bottle and you did the dirty job of helping her use the bathroom, you put her down on the heating pad and covered her with blankets, moving to your bed, exhausted but sure you wouldn’t sleep. You’d buried your mother today, and now here you were, taking care of a baby kitten, a baby kitten who wouldn’t stop crying.
“Alright, alright little one,” you cooed as you made your way over to her, too exhausted to listen to her cry all night. You scooped her up, wrapped her in two blankets to maintain her body heat, and moved her to the bed with you. You placed her on your chest, her tiny purrs immediately relaxing you. You smiled as you felt her tiny paws making biscuits in the blankets, her purrs getting louder.
“So, you’re stuck with me for a few days,” you told her softly, her purrs seeming to grow in response. “What should we call you? Kitten? Cat? Little one?” You felt her climb up your chest, curling up in your neck under your hair. You pulled the blanket up to cover her, pulling out your phone to find a movie as you felt her breath even out, her purrs slowing.
You decided on a show you had just recently found, Gravity Falls, a supernatural cartoon you wish you’d had growing up. As the twins, Mabel and Dipper popped up, the name came to you, a name you’d always loved: Mavis.
“What do you think, Mavis? Is that your name?” you asked the tiny creature, a tiny chirp followed by a yawn your answer. Mavis it was then. You fell asleep like this, Mavis curled up, in your neck, your phone on your face still playing. It had been days since you last slept, but tonight, you found a comfort you never thought you’d experience again.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The next time you opened your eyes, you heard the TV in your living room playing softly, the scent of your favorite food flooding your senses. You sat up, your head throbbing from the crying, your eyes puffy and sore, and stretched, wrapped your blanket around you and made your way to the living room.
“Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you,” Colin said quietly as he handed you some ibuprofen and water, anticipating your needs before you even thought of it. You gratefully took the medicine, gulping down the water in just a few swallows, not realizing how thirsty you were.
You looked at Colin, his eyes filled with concern and sorrow, and you knew he found out. “Who told you?” you asked, your voice raspy and raw from sobbing as you felt the tears well up again. The last thing you wanted to do was have this gorgeous man look at you the way he was now; you hated anyone seeing you emotional, never wanting to seem weak. With Colin, you didn’t want to stop the thing before it even started.
“I stopped by the clinic to grab Mavis some of her favorite treats and Janice told me,” he said softly as he dropped down next to you on the couch, his arm instantly around your shoulder pulling you to rest your head on his chest, his other arm around you playing with your hair as he whispered softly to you that it was okay, to let it out, and that he wasn’t going anywhere.
As the tears started to slow, you lifted your head and saw Colin shedding tears of his own. You reached up to his face, wiped his tears away, and gently kissed his cheek as the two of you sat quietly in your grief.
“I remember the first time I met her, she was so cranky and mean," Colin said, his hand still softly playing with your hair as his other hand moved soothingly up and down your arm. You chuckled softly as you recalled that day also, your first glimpse of a very naked Colin, heading by your door as you brought some more boxes in from downstairs.
Colin stopped and smiled, covering the good parts with a dish towel while he ate an apple. “Hey, you must be new!” Colin said, pulling the towel up to wipe the corner of his mouth. "I’m Colin, I live right across from you-oh shit.” Colin opened your door and dashed in as you watched with your mouth open.
“Hey!” you yelled as you dropped the box and moved to open your door just as your naked neighbor’s front door opened with an equally naked woman standing in the doorway. You closed your mouth which was catching flies at all of the porn you’d managed to see in the last ten minutes, trying to look everywhere except this woman’s perfect tits. God damn, how was it fair to even look like that? You suddenly felt very self conscious as you stood there in a baggy t-shirt and shorts covered in cat hair, your hair in a messy pile on your head.
“Oh hey,” the woman said as she stood with everything out, very comfortable with her body. You’d kill to look like this woman, but right now, you’d settle for a bra and some shorts. “Have you seen a guy, I think his name is Coleman, Callum, no that’s not right either. Oh! COLIN! That’s his name. Have you seen Colin anywhere?”
“Can’t say that I have, sorry,” you mumbled as you turned and made your way to the front door. You heard the supermodel grumble and retreat back inside. You cleared your throat and balanced the box the best you could while trying to turn the door knob, cursing the rudeness of your uninvited guest, no matter how tight his ass was.
“Whoa, whoa,” you heard Colin say as you heard Mavis hissing at him. “Good cat, kitty, kitten, whatever you prefer, I’m not going to hurt you,” Colin said softly from the corner, the towel covering his dangly bits from your fierce, tiny cat. You watched with amusement as Mavis swatted at the bottom of the towel, growling and hissing again. “Little help?” you heard from a distressed Colin, the entire scene causing you to erupt in laughter.
You walked over to your girl, scooped her up, her body instantly relaxing at your touch. Her purr revved up as you pet her head, telling her she was the absolute best guard cat in the world. You heard Colin grumble and grouse from your couch, finally free to move about. You reminded him of the tiny fact that he had broken into your house, and Mavis was free to protect her territory.
“So…” you awkwardly began, trying to avert your gaze and look at anything besides his bottom half, a slight heat creeping up the back of your neck. “Do you like cheese?” you asked, mentally kicking yourself as soon as the words left your mouth. You were so shy and introverted, small talk was hard for you.
You both heard the door across the hall open and close as Colin’s guest yelled a not so nice goodbye as she left. Colin stood, thanking you for letting him hide, never answering what his favorite cheese was, and made his way across the hall. You went back to unpacking, chastising yourself as you worked, reminding yourself that this is why you didn’t have many friends.
A sudden knock on your door caused you to jump as you were lost in your thoughts, and you were surprised to see Colin standing there with more boxes. You opened the door to let him in, thanking him but reminding him he didn’t need to do this if he had other plans.
“It’s no trouble. It’s my day off and I am going to make friends with your psycho demon cat if it takes all year,” he said, holding out his hand to pet Mavis as she made her way into the living room and sat at your feet. She lulled him in with a false sense of security, hissing and swiping at his hand at the very last second, then cleaning the paw that had touched the offensive object while Colin cursed under his breath. You laughed and handed him a paper towel, your laugh bubbling to the surface of your shy demeanor.
“You don’t know much about cats, do ya?” you chided as you moved to the box of Mavis’ things and grabbed out her favorite catnip treats and toy mouse, and handed them to Colin. “Here, hold this out and let her come to you. Let her sniff you and get used to your scent. Once she accepts you and the treat, go ahead and hand her her favorite toy.”
Colin did exactly as you said, smiling like a little boy on Christmas when Mavis finally ate the treat out of his hand and took her mouse. She played on the floor a little bit defore laying on her back and offering her belly to Colin. Before you could warn him about the belly trap, Mavis grabbed onto his arm with all four paws, bunny kicking his arm with her two back feet, and holding his hand hostage with her front paws while she bit him playfully, not hard enough to break skin.
You laughed at his face of surprise, then laughter as he played with your grumpy little lady. Unbeknownst to you or Mavis, Colin Shea found you fascinating, something he had never felt before, preferring to keep everything casual because it was easier. But at that moment, Colin Shea knew he was in trouble and his life wouldn’t be the same, scared this would destroy him in the end.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
“She wanted to eat you,” you said through your laughter as you moved your head off of Colin’s chest to look up at him, finding his eyes already on yours, his shoulders shaking with laughter at the memory. “Then when she tricked you into thinking you could pat her belly.”
Your laughter stopped as your body was wracked with sobs. “I failed her, I didn’t do enough, I didn’t get her there fast enough,” you said, finally vocalizing your grief, your guilt, your anger. “I should have had them try, I killed her. How could I miss what was happening?” you continued, your breaths becoming shallow as you found it harder and harder to breathe, the oxygen thick with your sorrow.
“Mavis loved you, she knows how much you loved her. You gave her everything.” Colin held you as you cried, trying to soothe your broken heart and soul. “She knew you would have done anything to save her, but she also trusted you to make the most difficult decision if you couldn’t.” Colin let you cry, rocking you back and forth comforting you the best he could.
As you calmed and your tears started to dry, you heard your stomach growl, the smell of your favorite food wafting into the living room. Colin laughed, and you grumbled as you chastised your stomach for embarrassing you.
Colin stood to grab plates for you both, leaving you on the couch, already missing his warmth as you wrapped your blanket tighter around you. You asked how he knew what your favorite food was, completely shocked at his answer.
“You told me last month We were up on the roof, you’d had a bad day, so we set up the inflatable sumo suits and drank between rounds.” Colin said as if his remembering anything you’d said to him was an everyday occurrence. You’d never had anyone really listen to you, no one ever cared enough to listen.
“You remember that?” you asked as you took a bite of the plate Colin set in front of you, your hunger taking over as you realized you hadn’t eaten since yesterday. Colin looked over at you, then back at the television, trying to find something for the two of you to watch.
“Of course I do, I remember everything we talk about.” Colin settled on DareDevil, a show you’d recently started watching together as you introduced him to the MCU. He continued staring at the screen, pretending he didn’t see the soft smile that crossed your face as you continued eating. Once you’d finished, you leaned your head on Colin’s shoulder, and before you knew it, you’d fallen asleep.
Colin looked down, pushing a piece of hair out of your face and tucking it behind your ear, and kissed you softly on the forehead. You smiled and sighed, snuggling even deeper into Colin’s arms, his head resting on yours as he made sure you were covered, falling asleep quickly.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
You opened your eyes, confused for a moment as you weren’t in your bedroom. You felt movement behind you, forgetting that Colin had come over last night. You screamed, falling on the floor when Colin moved his hand around your waist to pull you in closer.
“What the hell?” Colin said as he sat up quickly, sleep written all over his face as he stared at you on the floor. “Are you okay?” he asked, slightly confused as he helped you off the ground. You hopped up, your face and neck hot with embarrassment as you sat back down on the couch, unable to meet Colin’s gaze.
“I’m, I’m fine. So-sorry. I forgot where I was for a second and when you moved you scared me, and I guess I fell….and now I’m rambling.” You shook your head as Colin laughed, completely humiliated by your reaction. Had it really been that long since you’d felt someone touch you? And if you were being utterly honest with yourself, you liked the way Colin felt. His touch made you feel safe enough to cry, to fall asleep, to just be yourself.
“Hey, it’s okay. You fell asleep right after we started the show, not even Matt Murdock could keep you awake.” Colin stood and stretched, turned to use your bathroom, and you couldn’t help yourself, your gaze landing on his perfect ass, one of your favorite sights.
You shook your head, trying to tell yourself Colin didn’t like you in that way, not the way you cared for him. He was your friend, he was there for you during hard times, but you knew his feelings about commitment, you were witness to his many different women. That’s why you kept your distance.
You started some breakfast, eggs, bacon, and toast, for the two of you. You didn’t have work today, your boss had given you the rest of the week and weekend off so you could mourn in private. Colin made his way in, coming behind you to steal a piece of bacon you’d just grabbed.
“Hey! Jerk. I made you some right here!” you grumbled, slapping Colin on the chest as you made your way to the living room with both plates. “Can you grab the hot sauce, utensils, and juice please?” you asked, as you grabbed the remote to start your show all over again.
Colin set all of the requested items down before you had even started the show, having grabbed everything and followed right behind you. Damn it, if he could just let someone stay more than one night, he’d be such a good boyfriend, you thought.
“You’re staring again,” Colin said, his eyes never leaving the screen as Matt and Foggy flashed into view. You dropped your eyes, mortified he had caught you. Again. You were thinking of some reason to have been caught when you heard your phone ringing in the bedroom.
You ran to answer it, tears forming by the end of your conversation. It was your boss calling to let you know Mavis had been a special cat, so she was sent for cremation and was back at the clinic for you to pick up. You thanked your boss, telling her you’d be there to get her shortly. You were so lost in your tears, you hadn’t heard Colin come in and sit beside you on the bed. You immediately leaned in, seeking the warmth and comfort of his embrace and let your tears go.
Colin offered to drive you to the veterinary hospital, which you gratefully accepted. The ride was quiet, and before you knew it, you were parked in front. Colin asked if you wanted him to go in with you, but you declined knowing this was something you needed to do on your own.
You came back to the car a few minutes later, a small urn clutched tightly to your chest, your sobs wracking your entire body. You felt Colin’s hand on your thigh as you drove back, but you were so lost in your head. You weren’t even aware of pulling into the parking lot or even making your way upstairs.
You laid down in bed, Mavis on the nightstand, and pulled the blankets over your head again, your place to hide from the world. You fell into a restless sleep, your dreams plagued with guilt over Mavis and your inability to save her. You woke from a particularly rough nightmare, and threw your blankets off, feeling suffocated under the weight of your feelings.
You dropped to the floor, panting with sweat running down your face mixed with your tears. You heard your door open, but didn’t register Colin was there until he made you look at him to regulate your breathing. Colin was trying to ground you as you were in the middle of an anxiety attack. The ringing in your ears finally softened to a dull noise, your tears finally slowed, and your breathing was back to normal, your breaths in and out matching Colin.
“There you go, that’s it. Keep doing that.” Colin moved beside you, his arm around your shoulder as he kissed your forehead so softly you weren’t even sure you had felt it. Once you’d finally calmed down, you allowed Colin to put you back into bed. He covered you up, then moved to lay behind you as you fell back asleep, safe and warm in his arms.
You woke up to find your bed empty and cold, Colin no longer behind you. You stood up and made your way to the bathroom, stepping into a hot shower and brushing your teeth. Once you finally felt a little human again, you dressed and made your way out to the living room.
You weren’t sure what you were expecting, but you found yourself disappointed when Colin was nowhere to be found. Not that you could blame him, though. You’d broken down in front of him more than once, and if he wasn’t completely sure he wasn’t the commitment type, you would definitely be the one to prove his point.
You grabbed some water and ibuprofen and made your way back to your room. You gulped down the glass along with three pills when you noticed it. The urn was gone. You dropped your glass, not caring when it shattered beneath your feet. You looked all over, only stopping when you heard your front door open.
“Hey, what are you doing awake?” Colin asked as he made his way into your room, takeout bags in his hand. He made his way next to you, stopping when he saw the broken glass on the floor. “Shit, don’t move, let me clean this up.” Colin left, returning with a broom and dustpan.
“Mavis, I can’t find Mavis,” you said as you looked around your room and on the nightstand again. “I know I left her here, I was asleep, you were here and then you weren’t…” you mumbled, rambling as you tried to think of anywhere the urn could have gone.
“I’m sorry about leaving like that, I had something I wanted to surprise you with,” Colin said as he continued sweeping the shards of glass. “I grabbed Mavis, I wanted to sur…”
“Why the hell would you take her?” you yelled, anger rushing over every fiber of your being at what you’d just heard. “You had absolutely no right!”
Colin stopped, startled at the sudden rage in your voice. “I didn’t mean any harm, I wanted to…” You stopped him, fury taking over every rational part of your demeanor.
“You had no right to take her while I was sleeping. What were you thinking? How on earth did you assume this would be a good idea? Just when I start letting my guard down around you, just when I think you’re someone I could absolutely let in, you go and do something like this. Get out.”
“Just let me show you what I am doing,” Colin said as he pulled his phone out to show you something. “You’re going to love it, and I promise to bring Mavis back when I’m done.”
“Just get the fuck out. I don’t want to see it, I don’t want to see you! You betrayed my trust, took the one thing that matters to me right now.” You turned and locked yourself in your bathroom, collapsing onto the floor. Your heart shattered even more, knowing Colin hadn’t meant any harm, yet you unleashed all of your anger and sorrow onto him, keeping him at arm's length.
You waited in the bathroom, eventually falling asleep on the floor, waking only when your back and legs started to cramp up. You stood and moved to your bed, covering your face and head again, not wanting to see the empty nightstand. You also missed the warmth behind you, the strong arms that held you while you cried, but it was better this way.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
You spent the rest of your time off in bed, only leaving it to use the bathroom. You’d been awakened by knocking on your door the first couple of days, but you didn’t answer, choosing to hide away. Eventually the knocking stopped, and you weren’t sure if you were relieved or sad.
Monday came around too quickly, but you forced yourself up and made your way to the bathroom. You showered and dressed, unsure how you were going to make it through this day, but knowing you couldn’t hide any longer.
Your day was a blur, full of routine and muscle memory. You smiled when you had to, laughed when it was expected, and left looking cheerful and happy. You weren’t but you definitely faked it until you made it.
You pulled into your parking spot at home, sitting in your car for a few minutes to let the weight of the day fall away from you, exhausted and emotionally drained. You made your way inside and up the stairs where you saw a small package in front of your door. You stopped as you saw the small urn next to it, and dropped down to get a better look.
The urn was Mavis, and it had a small nameplate and picture of her added to the urn. Next you opened the small box, finding a beautiful necklace which looked like the cosmos swirled with the brightest strip of stars ever seen. You pulled the chain out to get a closer look when you saw the small insert in familiar handwriting.
This is a small charm made from some of Mavis’ ashes, this way you always have her with you. I”m sorry I broke your trust or hurt you, that wasn’t my intent. I just wanted you to have a piece of her always. -Colin
You hung your head in shame, fully realizing just how awful you had been to this man, this man who just wanted to make you happy. You took a deep breath and swallowed your pride as you made your way over to Colin’s door and knocked.
“Colin?” you called, waiting a few seconds before knocking again. “Colin, I know I was horrible to you, please open the door?” You waited again, sighing as you started to turn away before stopping. “I need to say this, and I don’t know if I will have the courage again, so please listen. I am so sorry. I was wrong and mean, I took all of my anger and grief out on you, you didn’t deserve it at all. You were nothing but amazing to me, and I am sorry. This is beautiful, but I can’t accept it. I don’t deserve this.”
“Yes you do,” you heard from behind you. You jumped, turning to see Colin leaning against the wall, his hands in his pockets. He smiled his crooked little smirk, the one that always made your heart race, his bright blue eyes focused on you.
“So, did you hear all of that or do I need to start all over again?” you asked, embarrassment creeping up your neck and face. You weren’t good at this, sharing and apologizing, and you were really hoping he’d heard it all.
“I heard it, and you don’t owe me any apologies. I’m sorry I worried you, I’m sorry I hurt you at all. I just wanted to surprise you with something to see that smile I’ve come to adore so much.” You stared at Colin in shock, not quite believing your ears.
“What do you mean? You don’t adore me, you don’t do relationships, remember?” you said, confusion written all over. You wanted this to be true, there is nothing you wanted more but you knew about his liaisons, and you weren’t going to be just another notch.
“I didn’t, but then I met this really quiet and shy neighbor who let me hide out in her apartment the first time I met her, and from there, I stopped being interested in the temporary.” Colin started walking towards you as he continued. “We started spending a lot of time together and I finally realized what I truly wanted. So, the endless parade of women stopped, and I started spending all of my time with her.”
You looked up, trying to remember the last time you’d seen anyone come out of Colin’s apartment, realizing there hadn’t been a woman in months. “You want me?” you asked, waiting to hear him finally say the words.
“I want you,” Colin said as he grabbed your face and pulled you in for a kiss. This was by far the most amazing kiss you’d ever had, his lips soft and sweet, his tongue gentle as he waited for you to allow him access.
You pulled away, the both of you breathless and flushed. “You’re sure this is what you want?” you asked, your uncertainty taking hold as you looked up at this man, the one you’ve wanted for so long.
“I’ve never been so sure about anything before.” He pulled you into his chest, holding you tightly. As you melted into his touch, you felt his hands move lower until your ass was placed perfectly in his grasp.
“And there he is, there’s the Colin I know,” you said, laughter bubbling up as you smacked his hands away. He looked at you, that sexy sideways smirk on his face.
“Hey, this is all just for you now,” he said as he gestured up and down his body. “I never said anything about being chaste, only that you were now the only victim of my hormones.” You laughed and kissed him again, softly and slowly, fully enjoying your new life.
You would swear you saw and heard fireworks if anyone ever asked, but for once, you finally allowed yourself to live in the moment. You weren’t sure if this would last, but if every day with Colin was like they had been, you were damn sure going to try.

Seeing Blind Ch. 5
Colin Shea x pregnant!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After a one-night stand, you find yourself pregnant. While navigating your pregnancy, the father of your baby seems to have another task at hand.
Warnings: angst, swearing, jealousy, eventual smut, slowish burn, in-depth descriptions/discussions of pregnancy, descriptions of mafia dynamics, Colin is a little shit
A/N: It’s been a minute since I've written; been going through a lot of mental health issues. I'm still working through them. I hope the next few installments of fics I post can make up for the delays. Thanks @eightcevanscentral.

The park is crowded, teeming with people having picnics, walking their dogs, and letting their children run loose along the grass and walkways.
Everyone here seems to be more intimately involved. They hold hands or have their arms slung around their partners in one way or another. If they’re not attached physically, they walk in close proximity to each other.
It makes Colin and Aly stick out. They look like an awkward pair, staying about half an arm’s length from one another as they search for the picnic area where Aly’s next ex is meant to be entertaining a seven-year-old’s party.
“There it is,” Colin points out.
It’s the classic picnic-in-the-park birthday party with bright foil balloons, food everywhere, and kids running amuck with water guns and silly string. Parents are day drinking out in the open, not paying attention to whatever havoc their little monsters were creating.
Colin gulps when he realizes this is in his future. Over-the-top birthday parties for kids who probably won’t remember a single second of it, stupid presents, and mingling with actual adults who know what they’re doing.
He’s way out of his depth. He should’ve known he was punching out of his weight taking you back to his apartment; you were the only woman smart enough to leave before he woke up. His usual targets are the girls who have only a fraction more desperation than he has. It’s why they stay in the morning hoping for something more and what’s led him to running around Boston tracking down his neighbor’s exes.
“Well, there he is,” Aly’s voice comes, jarring him from his thoughts.
He spots a little wooden theater where two homemade farm animal puppets appear to be arguing. The kids burst into laughter while Colin and Aly exchange a look.
As the show comes to a close, it doesn’t get any stranger, but it gives Aly an opportunity to say hello while the kids get cake and watch the birthday celebrant open presents.
To avoid looking like a strange man lingering around a child’s birthday party, Colin makes his way to a tree and sits among the roots. He contemplates his impending fatherhood while people watching from his vantage point.
It’s not just stupidly expensive birthday parties coming. He watches a dad catch his kid mid-fall–it’s that too. He sees another lugging a diaper bag in one hand while his baby flails in his grip, but his hold never falters.
Colin looks at his hands. Can I do that?
At the birthday party, a man mediates a situation between two boys. One boy says something, he looks at the other one. On and on, until the man speaks once more and the boys hug before playing together again.
Will anyone teach him how to do this?
He thinks about his own father; Chief of Police in Salem, a well-respected man who produced two sons who have made a name for themselves in their own rights.
And a third who had no part of his life together, trying to usher a baby into the world with a woman he had a one night stand with.
“Well, that was a disaster,” Aly’s voice jars him from his thoughts, the ideas rattling in his brain before dissipating like smoke.
“Huh?”
“Didn’t get much out of that encounter other than the fact that I remember why we broke up.”
“And…?”
“His puppets creeped me out. Anyway,” Aly pauses as she opens her purse and digs through it. “Here is…twenty, forty, sixty, seventy.”
She hands him the cash and it crumples in his hands.
“You wanna grab a taxi back to the building? I need some wine.”
Colin shakes his head. “No, I’m just gonna head a few blocks that way before I head back.”
“What’s over at ‘a few blocks that way’?”
“Just gotta pick up some stuff,” he says as he shoves the bills in his pocket. “I’ll see ya around.”
She nods and walks on her way to the western entrance of the park.
Putting his hands in his pockets, Colin stands up and begins to walk down the path when a male voice catches his attention.
“Hey, Free Licks.”
Looking up, he finds Mateo, donned in all black with shades perched on his nose. Colin can’t help but note the difference between the two of them again; he was wearing stained jeans and a faded t-shirt.
Colin greets him with a nod. “Detective.”
“What brings you to the park today?”
“Oh, you know, the sunshine, the fresh air.” Colin inhales through his nose obnoxiously.
Mateo raises an eyebrow. “I see. Well, I was here on business from Y/N, but…when I see suspicious activity, I have to follow up on it, you know?”
Colin shakes his head, a little incredulous. “What? She’s got you spying on me?”
“Not you, but a point person. BPD business. There was a drop that was meant to happen. You know anything about that?”
Pursing his lips and raising his brows, Colin gestures “no” again. “Nothing that I’ve seen.”
Mateo reaches into his pocket and hands him his card. “Well, if you see anything, you’ll let me know, right?”
Taking it between his thumb and forefinger, the card nearly falls in his weak grip. Colin doesn’t know what to do with it or why Mateo is giving it to him. “Sure…?”
“Good. See you around, Free Licks.”
- - - - -
“I wasn’t expecting you to actually show up,” you scoff with a smile. “But, while you’re here, you can push the cart.”
You let go and the cart still moves, wheels squeaking as it glides down the aisle and Colin scrambles to get a grip on the handle. When he eventually gets it, he cranes his neck to find you studying the different boxes lining the shelves.
“What are we looking at?”
“Changing tables.”
“Like the ones in ladies’ bathrooms?”
“Not quite, but same idea. Just a space where you can store everything for changing a diaper and keep the baby safe while you’re grabbing stuff.”
“You make it sound like it’s a whole process,” Colin snorts.
You look at him. “You’ve never changed a diaper before in your life, have you?”
He scoffs, lying through his teeth. “Psh, what are you talking about? Of course, I have.”
“It’s okay if you haven’t, you know that right?”
How are you able to see right through him?
It seems his face shows his bewilderment, and you respond to it, “Colin, like I said, I didn’t expect you to do any of this. I still don’t expect a lot from you–not that I don’t welcome this, but because I can do this on my own if I need to.”
He doesn’t reply. Looking at his face, his cheeks look particularly round like a child’s, casting a sort of innocence on him that doesn’t reflect the person you know him as. He’s goofy and charming, things that attracted you to him in the first place that fateful night when all of this started. Along with that, he’s experienced, but you can see there’s a thought rattling in his mind that his mouth won’t say.
“Look, whatever your decisions are for doing this—if you’re trying to prove yourself to someone or if you’re putting expectations on yourself–you can’t let that bother you. I don’t know the extent of what I’m getting myself into. This kid could be like me, or they could be like you. But however they turn out, I’m gonna do my best to make sure they live happily. And that’s all you can do: your best.”
He nods, but you don’t think it’s really getting to him.
“Maybe I can sign us up for a parent coaching class. I’m sure we’d hardly be the first unusual pair of parents a teacher has seen.”
His cheeks turn red first, then his ears. He smiles and nods again. “Yeah…yeah, I think that’s a great idea.”
“It’s a deal.”
You grab his hand and hook your pinky with his.
“Now, while we’re here, can you do me a favor and put that box in the cart?” you ask, pointing to the one you want.
“Yes, ma’am.”
As he does what you request, you bite your lip and blink slowly.
You can feel your non-expectations–the ones you still hold on Colin where he’s welcome to do as he pleases–slowly metamorphosize. There’s a flash of him bathed in the morning sunlight, smiling up at a giggling baby he’s lifting over his head.
“Anything else from this aisle?”
The image is gone in a puff of smoke, trailing in the air before disappearing completely.
You shake your head. “No, but I need to go to the next aisle and look at rocking chairs.”
- - -
Hauling everything to the cashier for check out, your items are ringed up and bagged while you reach for your wallet.
“Oh, here…I have this.”
Colin shoves his hand in his pocket, pulling out some crumpled up bills and awkwardly setting them on the counter. Just by looking at it and the grand total of the items on the counter, you know it’s not enough.
“Colin…it’s okay,” you say, pulling out your card and handing it to the cashier.
As he gathers up the money, you ask where he got it.
“I did a favor for a friend.”
“And they paid you that much money for a favor?”
Grabbing the last bill, he puts it back into his pocket. “Well, she owes me.”
You don’t have time to wonder too much about why he’s being so vague, not with the cashier asking for your signature for the payment and asking if you want to join the store’s rewards program.
With all the items bagged, you and Colin hail a taxi to go back to your apartment. Every once in a while, you consider pressing further, your suspicion a by-product of the analytical mind that got you the position you work in.
Deciding against it, you send Colin on his way and prepare for work tomorrow.
- - - - -
You yawn as you exit your apartment, pivoting back to lock the door behind you.
A flash of blue stuck on your door as it closes behind you catches your eye. When you look at it, you realize it’s a note, probably from one of your neighbors.
The words become clearer as you reach for the note, peeling it off the surface and reading it.
If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stop.
You huff. Rolling your eyes, you stuff it into your canvas bag–your newly-designated lunch bag ever since your appetite grew so that you could “eat for two.”
And prevent yourself from rage-quitting your job out of hunger-fueled anger.
Figuring it’s just the young kid on the second floor playing a prank, you head out to work.
- - -
“Bebitaaaa,” Mateo sings as he enters your cave of computer monitors.
He places a hand on your shoulder to straighten your spine.
“You need to work on your posture,” he remarks.
You scoff. “And you need to pack your own snacks and stop taking from a pregnant lady,” you speak, but are certain he couldn’t hear you over the sound of wrappers crinkling.
“Speaking of you being pregnant, I ran into Colin at the park yesterday..." he trails off. "What’s this?”
“Hmm?”
Your chair swivels as you look at him, finding the note from your door in his hand. “Bebita…where’d you find this?”
“Oh,” you exhale dismissively, “that’s nothing. I found it on my door this morning.”
“And you didn’t think to tell me?”
“Tell you about what? It’s a note. Probably from the little boy upstairs.”
Mateo’s eyes narrow. “How old is that kid?”
“I dunno,” you shrug. “Fourteen?”
“I don’t think fourteen-year-olds play tricks like this.”
“Just because you didn’t because you were a damn genius who went to college at sixteen doesn’t mean other fourteen-year-olds don’t.”
“Bebita, I don’t think you understand this. ‘If you know what’s good for you’? That’s a threat.”
“Mateo, come on, after that it says ‘you’ll stop.’ Stop what? If this is a threat, it’s a pretty empty one.”
“We’re in a dangerous line of work, did you even consider that maybe this is a guy from the mob? Or maybe one of them put the kid up to writing the note to try and hide their scent?”
You roll your eyes, “Knock it off, Mateo. There’s no way they know who I am, much less where I live–”
“You don’t know that, you don’t know what they’re capable of–”
“I know what I’m capable of, and I’m pretty sure my work is completely untraceable.”
He’s quiet for a moment, then grabs your phone from the desk. Unlocking it, he swipes through and taps before showing you the screen. It’s Colin’s contact information. His thumb hovers over the call button.
“Don’t make me do this.”
“Oh my god,” you roll your eyes again, your head lolling back in annoyance as your arms cross. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
He taps the button and he brings the phone to his ear as the call begins.
You hear Colin on the other line. “Hello?”
“Hey, Free Licks.”
“Oh, it’s you.”
You snort and Mateo’s eyes drift up in exasperation. “Yeah, it’s me. I’m calling though because Y/N found a threatening note on her door but doesn’t think it’s a big deal.”
“Wait, what?!”
“Yeah, it said, ‘if you know what’s good for you, you’ll stop.’ I think the mob knows where she lives.”
“You really think they would?” Colin’s concern comes clearly through the speaker.
“I think anything’s possible,” Mateo says pointedly, throwing you a look. “But like I said, she’s pretty confident in her ability to be untraceable.”
“But if the note was on her door…”
Mateo nods slowly, smugly. “You get it.”
“Is she there?”
“Right in front of me.”
“Can I talk to her?”
You take the phone, sticking your tongue out before you speak, “Hey Colin.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about the note when we were texting earlier?”
“Same thing I told Mateo,” you sigh, getting really irritated that you keep having to repeat yourself. “It’s not a big deal, it’s probably nothing.”
“But it was on your door.”
“I’m sure a lot of people find notes on their doors.”
“Not threatening ones!” Colin says into the receiver as Mateo nearly shouts the same thing in front of you.
“God, how do I turn off the surround sound in here?”
“Bebita, you might take this lightly, but I’m not.”
“Yeah…yeah, and neither am I!” Colin tacks on.
“A woman’s life is most endangered when she’s pregnant because that’s the time she’s most likely to get killed.”
You’re shocked Mateo would bring that up to you now, placing a hand on your lower stomach.
“I’m not taking any chances with you, especially with Riona Maher’s arrest at Logan happening earlier this week.”
You swallow, pushing your pride down as you look away from Mateo. You feel like a teenager getting lectured by her father.
“Promise me if you see anything else like this, you’ll tell me right away.”
You don’t reply immediately.
“Promise him,” Colin pleads from the phone.
“Fine, I promise. But only because I’m still pretty sure this is nothing.”
“I’ll take it,” Mateo sighs. “And Colin’s a witness.”
“Thanks for including me.”
Mateo says, “You’re welcome,” as you say goodbye and end the call.
“I’m gonna take this down to forensics and see if they can pull up anything.”
“You’d be wasting time,” you taunt as you turn back to your computer.
“And I’m driving you home tonight and picking you up in the morning.”
“Mateo–”
“Nothing you can do about it, my mind’s made up.”
He shuts the door behind him, leaving you typing away as you shake your head.
I’m the pregnant one, your mind gripes, I should be the one who overreacts to things, not them.

An Unexpected Gain
Epilogue - Seven Months Later
Colin Shea X Female Reader
Previously…
Series Masterlist
A/N: This is my submission @the-slumberparty‘s Week 2 Writing Challenge: Blast From The Past. I know I promised to write an epilogue to this in 2020, and I actually started to write this a year ago, but I hated every version of this that I’d written. I just want to say thanks to @navybrat817 and @darkficsyouneveraskedfor for hosting these challenges and giving me a reason to kick myself in the arse and get myself motivated to get this finished. Maybe one day I will revisit these idiots, but I’m not going to promise anything.
Warnings: All the fluff, brief mention of childbirth but nothing graphic

Once Upon a Time in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, Colin Shea had forgotten why he didn't like hospitals. Maybe it was something to do with cold, bright lights, or the smell... To be honest, he didn't really care any more; what he had witnessed just hours before was pure magic, and he was sure he was going to be in awe of you for the rest of his life. A small part of him wanted to stay with you in the small cocoon of your hospital room forever, but he couldn't wait to get home and begin his new role, raising his son.
The labour had been long and arduous. Unsurprisingly, Colin had been by your side for the entire thing, his support unflinching. When the midwife placed the small, mucus-covered human onto your chest and the baby started bellowing, he didn't think it was this possible to be this happy.
Colin was reluctantly making his way back to the car to fetch your phone charger. Squinting as he stepped into the early morning sunlight, Colin tried to remember how long he had been in that hospital room for. The last couple of days had been like a particularly vivid fever dream, that felt like an eternity and just a few seconds at the same time. Pausing to take in his surroundings, he wondered if the birds in the sky and the nurses making their way home from the night shift knew that the world had changed irreversibly overnight.
-
Rentering the building charger in hand, Colin decided to forgo his morning coffee until he was certain that you and the baby had settled. However, as he strode past the gift shop, something green and fuzzy caught his eye that immediately stopped him in is tracks.
When Colin went into the gift shop and took a further look at the chartreuse creature, he smirked in recognition. Picking up the inanimate amphibian, and looking into it's large yellow eyes, Colin knew that it was coming home with him. He could just imagine the look on your face when he presented you with the cuddly toy, but Colin couldn't think of a more appropriate first buddy for his child.
Sure, despite the inside jokes of frogs, princes and jesters; your relationship was nothing like the pile of fairytale books that was sitting in the nursery. There were definitely some communication issues that needed to be straightened out, especially when you decided to be cohabiters, not neighbours; but the pair of you were now stronger than ever in your new home in North End.
As Colin reached the till, and reached into his pocket for his wallet, his fingers brushed against the velvet box that he had kept on him since he had made a sneaky visit to the jewellery store a few weeks ago. He was not planning on getting down on one knee just yet, but after the way he had found out about the pregnancy, he was too scared to try and hide it at home.
Colin wondered what would happen if he could go back in time to tell his smug past self about how you would quickly become the love of his life, and how he would become a father. While commitment and fatherhood were truly an unexpected gain of the friends with benefits arrangement, he wouldn't have changed any of it for the world.

A Little Kiss Masterlist COMING SOON
Tumblr media
When an ex leaves an unexpected surprise on Colin Shea’s doorstep, he quickly drowns in just what it is he needs to do.  Trying to be everything that his unplanned daughter needs, but he is at a loss, and has no clue on what to do.  And then there was you.  The librarian that hosted children’s hours, and just so happened to be his next door neighbor.  Even though you are resilient to help him, it’s not the baby’s fault that her father is an idiot.

And some dialogue "come on admit it, that was the best nap you ever had."
Thank you for sending this in Amber 🫶🏻💚 I had so much fun writing this. It's a silly little piece, perhaps lacking some consistency or logic but it was so fun to write it and I hope you'll enjoy it.
Best Nap Ever
Why was the key not working? Why wouldn’t her damn house key work and open the door to her apartment? Her patience was already running thinner than the air on top of Mount Everest. The exhaustion she felt in every cell of her body was dragging her down like a drowning person and with it her ability to not lose her temper.
No one wanted to see her lose her marbles over something as silly as not being able to open her door. The least in front of her cute neighbor. Today was not the day where she wanted him to find her crying in front of her door.
“Come on you stupid piece of…” angrily murmuring to herself she tried to shove the key into the lock one more time. She had the right key, she’d made sure of that and the lock and the key were aligned perfectly. There was no reason why she couldn’t unlock the door. If she’d been drunk, yes, then she might have had trouble aligning the key to the keyhole but she was as sober as could be. But the stupid key still wouldn’t go in.
But then the door opened on its own and a body appeared where the door had just been. Slowly she looked up, coming face to face with Colin. Oh. That’s why the stupid key didn't work.
“Everything alright?” Colin leaned against the doorframe with his shoulder and smiled down at her. There was nothing she wanted more than for the ground to open up and swallow her.
“No, yeah…I–” She groaned loudly, throwing her head upwards. Way to go to embarrass herself in front of him. “Sorry. I got confused.”
Colin kept eyeing her, an amused grin on his lips as he looked her up and down. “I could just invite you in next time. No need to try to break in.”
“If you excuse me I’ll just go and die in the corner over there, yeah?” Gripping her keys tight enough that the prongs stung her palm, she turned around to flee into her apartment and die of shame.
Colin's hand shot out, grabbing her around the elbow. “Hey no, I didn’t mean it like that. Don’t go.” His grip was so soft, if she had wanted she could have easily slipped out and scurried away. She didn’t. Instead, she turned her head back to him. “That could have happened to anyone,” he added, noticing her contemplative gnawing on her bottom lip.
“You mean when we first met and you had to introduce yourself to me naked?” Colin laughed as well and nudged her to the side.
“You think so?” There was the hint of a smile looming on her lips as she glanced at him. She had a hard time imagining that he could have made the same mistake. Colin laughed and nodded his head.
“Oh yeah. Remember when I nearly locked myself out of my apartment?” Now the memory of that day truly made her laugh.
“Hey, I had the important bits covered!” He grimaced, adding, “Admittedly with a tea towel but I was decent!” That made her snicker only more. It had certainly been the most memorable way to meet a new neighbor.
She would have loved to talk some more with Colin, but there was still the exhaustion looming over her, now slowly creeping back to wrap around her like a vice. A yawn she couldn’t stifle escaped her mouth. It had her blush and Colin furrow his brows in concern.
“Sorry,” she mumbled, the end of the word awkwardly twisted as a second, quickly following, yawn escaped. “Sorry, I’m really tired if you couldn’t already tell from my bout of confusion with your door.”
“Pulled an all-nighter partying? I didn’t peg you for the party girl.”
“I’m not.” There was the frown etching itself back onto her face, twisting her features into the likeness of a dark rain cloud. “It’s the stupid construction that’s keeping me awake.” She groaned annoyedly, glancing at the opposite side of the hallway where her front door was situated. “I just wish they’d be done soon. Don’t think I slept since they started working. It’s slowly making me go crazy.”
This wasn’t even a joke. As much as she wished it would be. The longer she went without sleeping, the closer she got to becoming an unhinged maniac. Yesterday she’d almost walked out of her apartment without pants on and the day before she’d put sugar in her food instead of salt without noticing it. Not to mention the many moments she’d fallen victim to microsleep. Falling asleep on the shoulder of a random guy in the subway, she’d never felt more embarrassed. Not even when she’d fallen asleep leaning with her forehead against the doors and nearly fell out just two stations later.
“You know, if you want to, you can crash at my place.”
Surprised, she looked at Colin, who was pointing behind him into the depth of his apartment. It must be the lack of sleep that made her hallucinate him looking hopeful. That couldn’t be right.
“Oh, I couldn’t..you don’t have to do this. I’ll be fine. What’re some more days without sleep..” She trailed off at the concern clearly present in his eyes. Colin pushed himself off the doorframe and took a step toward her. “Just say yes,” his voice was low, his eyes boring into hers as his hand came up to trace his knuckles over her cheek. The air got trapped in her lungs, the words – with which she’d wanted to decline once more – stolen from her lips.
Colin didn’t wait for verbal confirmation from her, nor did he wait for her to give him a nod. His hand wrapped around her hand, securely but softly. As he walked backward he pulled her with him. Into his apartment.
The door fell shut behind her, briefly, she looked back at the door before she turned to Colin. He smiled at her softly, guiding her down the steps into his living room the next moment.
“Can’t believe you are making me do this,” she mumbled under her breath, yet still loud enough that he could hear. Loudly and heartily he laughed at, his hand holding his quivering belly.
“You are making it sound like I’m forcing you to clean the grouts with a toothbrush instead of graciously offering up my place for you to sleep.”
“Exactly.” Her dry response made Colin break out in laughter once more. The sound made her heart flutter. She liked to hear him laugh. It was a beautiful sound.
“Come on,” Colin pulled her further along, past the perfectly fine couch and into the small hallway around the corner. Full of determination he dragged her up another pair of half stairs to what she realized was his bedroom.
“Oh no. No no no,” she told him, pressing her heels into the ground to slow him down. Barely. “This is very kind of you but I’m not going to do that.”
“Why not?”
“Because that’s your bed!”
“And?” She looked at him in wonder. Was he serious? He couldn’t be. But as she looked at him there was no doubt in her. He was.
“Listen, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t. I just changed the sheets this morning so it’s fresh and clean. No need to feel bad either. And–” She was ready to open her mouth, another protest on the cusp of her tongue. “–Aaand don’t think to tell me you are taking my bed away from me. First of all, it’s not that late, so I’m not in need to go to bed anytime soon, second of all it’s big enough that we could both fit in there. If you are so concerned I’ll even nap with you.”
Her heart did an unexpected summersault at the offer. Under different circumstances her brain would have been quick enough to answer him, to find a logical reason as to why this was still not okay. But frankly, she was too damn tired for logic and the tiny part of her heart – the one that was totally smitten with him, crushing so badly – was clawing its way to the front and demanding to take over.
“I could use a nap partner,” she mumbled with another yawn splitting her lips. She missed the surprise on Colin’s face, then when she was done yawning he smiled at her all soft and sweet. It made her heart perform an Olympic routine.
“What are we waiting for then?”
Even though she had agreed to everything, between the moment she had done so and the moment she laid down in Colin’s bed some things she couldn’t quite grasp. For example, how she had come to be wearing a shirt of his that was way too big on her and a pair of his shorts.
Neither could she remember how Colin and she ended up laying face to face in the bed, scooting closer and closer until her head rested on his chest and he had his arm draped around her. It was a blur of exhaustion and memories she couldn’t entirely trust.
One thing she knew however was that her sleep-deprived brain had made the best decision of her life.
“Hi,” she heard Colin mumble into the top of her hair after she’d started waking and slowly stirring against him. She smacked her lips together, sighing heartily and hiding her nose in the fabric of his shirt.
“Hi,” she mumbled back, a smile threatening to split her face. She felt well rested but more importantly, she felt giddy.
“You slept well?”
“Mhmm I don’t know. It was okay,” she mused. Colin huffed, it sounded a little like a chuckle too. A loud squeal squeaked passed her lips as his fingers poked into her ribs.
“Come on admit it, that was the best nap you ever had.”
“That’s some mighty big words,” she laughed, squinting up at him.
“They aren’t if it’s the truth,” Colin sing-sang, eyebrows raised. It made her snort, he was trying to goad her into agreeing.
“Mhm, yeah. You are right. It was the best nap I could have had. Could have been better had it been in my bed.”
“Oh, you..” Another loud squeal left her lips as Colin surged down on her, hands on her waist as he began to tickle her. They tangled in the covers until she couldn’t take it anymore. The tickling became too much, her chest hurt from all the laughing and tears stung her eyes.
“Alright, alright. I surrender.”
“Not so easily.”
Gasping, she looked up at him. “You aren’t letting me go?” Colin shook his head.
“Not without any compensation.”
“Compensation you say? Is a date good enough compensation?” He thought about it for a moment. She could see it in his eyes, there was something he was weighing up. Holding himself up above her on his elbows, Colin looked deeply in her eyes.
Slowly he lowered himself down, his eyes slipped down to her lips. It was the softest press of his lips against hers. She could have gotten lost in the sensation had Colin not pulled back.
“A date and I can do this whenever I want.”
“Deal.”

day 29 nipple play with colin shea +18s only kinktober masterlist
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
These were Colin’s least favourite days, your period. No sex for at least for days but you always promised to do whatever for him
You smirked at him as you wrapped your lips around his pebbled nipple making him moan softly, as you gently twisted the other one in between your fingers.
“That’s it baby, nice and easy” he brought his hand down to his cock and began to stroke it gently. “Fuck I love your mouth” he groaned softly.
You shuffled a bit and replaced his hand in his cock with your own, gently stroking as your teeth tugged at his nipple. You moaned around him as his hands, smoothed down your back. He moaned as you picked up the pace and went faster and faster. “That’s it babygirl.. make me cum, i need it”
You nodded and gently bit down on his nipple making him scream as he came. “That it baby!!! fuck yess!!!” Come shot up from his cock, onto his stomach and onto the side of your face. Colin panted softly and helped your head up before turning it and licking up the side where the cum was and kissing you. “mhmm baby that was perfect.. thank you”

It was the middle of the night and neither of you had fallen asleep yet. You’d gotten as far as lying in bed together but tiredness and sleep never found you. Instead, you both laughed and talked as you stared up at the ceiling as if you were star gazing.
Colin was listening as you recounted this story from your time at college. You were animatedly talking gesturing wildly with your hands. He smiled whenever you had to stop for a moment because you were laughing too much at the memory.
He moved his head to the side so he could watch you properly. Watching every mini expression you made as you talked. He loved how expressive you could get when you got excited about something. He could listen to you tell this story a million times and he wouldn’t mind because he would never get bored of hearing you talk. He could feel a swelling sensation in his chest when he looked at you as if his heart was taking up all the space. He realised in that exact moment that not only did he love you, but just how deeply he did.
“Oh,” he muttered.
“What?” You ask confused at his interruption.
“Nothing I just-“ he said quickly shaking his head trying to work out if he should say something.
“Ignore me” he waves it off, telling you to continue.
You chuckle at him before jumping straight back into your story while Colin just continued to listen. Except he wasn’t really listening, his mind stuck on the undeniable fact that he loved you. It was a secret that he wanted to scream from the rooftops. He tried thinking of how to tell you, should he buy you a bunch of flowers? Get his guitar out? He wanted the moment to be perfect.
“Okay, what is it?” You say grabbing his attention once more.
“What is what?” He asks playing innocent.
“You weren’t paying attention” you point out turning to face him.
“Yes I was I promise!” Colin defends holding his hands up.
“No, you weren’t because I just said I had a threesome with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and you didn’t bat an eyelid,” you tell him with a knowing look.
“Okay I’m sorry, I just got distracted for a moment” Colin apologises with a sigh.
“It's okay, what were you thinking about, you had an odd serious look on your face” you ask laying your hand on top of his.
Colin sighed looking down at your hand and turning his over to intertwine his fingers with yours. He then looked back at you watching as your eyes searched his. He remembered the first night you’d met, how you both spent hours talking and laughing with each other. A memory that wasn't too dissimilar to how tonight was playing out. He smiled when he realised there wasn’t a moment more perfect than this one right here.
“I love you” he smiled squeezing your hand gently.
“What?” You whisper in disbelief.
“You’re my best friend and I love you” Colin repeats.
You remain silent for a moment you’re face still one of shock. Colin starts to panic that you don’t feel the same way, was it far too early? Was he about to scare you away? Just as those fears were starting to get the better of him you smiled shifting closer to him and kissing him gently.
“I love you too” you smile resting your forehead against his.

A/N: Part of the "Happy Father's Day" series. Dividers by the fantastic @/firefly-graphics
Tumblr media
Giggles and breathless gasps came from the couch in 6C on which its owner made out with his newest flavor of the day. Teeth collided as lips pressed against each other and tongues swept into the other’s mouth. Hands wandered, tugging at the clothing that hadn’t been shed yet as their bodies shifted against one another.
Colin planned to get to the baseline, another hookup, another woman he would have to hide from in the morning. At least until knocking on his front door alerted him. Fully planning on ignoring it, he concentrated back on his date’s lips. His neighbors knew not to disturb him and even if, they surely would leave on their own if he didn’t respond. But the knocking persisted, getting louder and more insistent.
With a promise to be back in just a minute and lips that chased him as he stood up, he went over to check the door. Upon opening the door he was greeted with an empty hallway. At least he thought it was empty until a noise made him look down. There on his doorstep stood a carrier with a small baby in it. Looking left and right he couldn’t see anyone on the landing and even peeking down into the stairwell there was no one. Had the person who knocked on his door simply vanished?
The baby made a noise that made Colin snap his head back around. Rather alarmed he watched, fearful it would start to cry. The baby didn’t cry, it made another small noise before it yawned. He could watch its eyes fall close, the small thing asleep in mere moments.
Internally he was panicking, he didn’t know what to do with the sleeping baby on his doorstep. To make matters worse from within his apartment his hookup called his name. Without thinking much about it he grabbed the carrier and hurried into the apartment. Hurrying in this case was him tiptoeing as he didn’t dare go any faster, still too scared to disrupt the sleeping child.
“You have to go,” he told the random woman still laying on his couch. She had propped herself up on her elbows and watched him descend the five steps down from the entryway into the heart of the living space. She didn’t react at first, only raising one eyebrow but Colin didn’t pay her much attention. Carelessly he grabbed the discarded dress as it came across his path just after he took the last step. He flung the flimsy cloth in her way, not caring if it landed in her face or on her, or on the floor again.
Much more careful he handled the carrier, there weren’t many spaces in his apartment he deemed safe enough to place it. The floor didn’t seem like a good idea to him. Too much potential to trip or knock it over. Really, the only place available was his kitchen table. The carrier wobbled slightly, his hands held out towards it, but it stayed in place. In the background, he thought to hear the woman pull her clothes back on, loudly complaining about his behavior. Colin didn’t care, he looked around for his phone and when he finally found it he practically dove for it. Wildly pressing buttons he pressed it against his ear.
“I need you to come over. ASAP.” The woman he had wanted to bed not long ago complained again in the background, to which he waved his hand at her and pointed towards the door. He hadn’t had a woman leave his apartment this fast in forever.
Tumblr media
Leaving her apartment after a very unsuspecting but dire-sounding call of help from her neighbor, she witnessed an angry-looking woman storming out of said neighbor’s apartment. It confused her. What had happened that Colin shooed his booty call away? And what could it have to do with his SOS that needed her to come over? She watched the angry and tumultuous retreat of the woman, following her down the steps until she was out of sight but not out of earshot.
The next thing she noticed was the open door, prompting her to step into her neighbor's apartment, at least until she reached the steps. She didn’t want to go any further without his welcome.
“Colin?” she asked into the empty space, no trace of him anywhere. With one hand still on the doorknob, she strained her ears to listen for him.
“Why did you need me to come over so suddenly?” There was no blood and if he had injured himself his date would surely have left in a different manner. Not a moment later Colin slid into the hallway, a finger in front of his lips and loudly shushing her. “I thought Friday evenings were your hookup nights?”, she whispered, even more confused by his weird behavior.
Closing the door behind her and walking down the steps she was eye to eye with her neighbor. His attire made more questions pop up. He was only wearing jeans. No top, no shoes. Colin cringed, his nose scrunching as he rubbed his neck.
“Something uhm interrupted,” he told her, placing his hand at the small of her back and guiding her into his kitchen.
Tumblr media
“Why do you have a baby?” She broke the silence that had settled over them as they stood in front of his kitchen table. The kitchen table on which a baby carrier with a sleeping babe in it stood.
Her brows were furrowed both in confusion and worry. She couldn’t stop eyeing the babe carefully, not entirely believing its existence here. Colin’s place seemed like the last place she would expect to see a baby. He hadn’t stolen a baby, had he?
“That’s the interruption,” he told her, rubbing his neck, eyes constantly flickering towards the baby. He didn’t seem able to hold still at the moment, constantly fidgeting, shuffling his feet, and going from rubbing at his neck to combing his fingers through his hair or even so far as biting on his fingernails.
“The baby rang your doorbell?”, she asked him deadpan, making Colin groan. He shook his head.
“No. But someone did and left the baby there.”
“Who in the world would leave their baby in front of a stranger’s door? Especially up on the sixth floor?” Colin let his head hang with a loud sigh. She glanced over at him, taking in the droop of his shoulders before his movement caught her eye. He slid an envelope over the table, pushing it her way. Raising her eyebrow caused him to whine.
“Just read.” Complying she took the envelope and peeked inside. There was a note in it. Fishing it out and unfolding it, she started to read.
“Shit Colin, this is serious,” she told him, the hand with the letter slowly sinking to her side. He was leaning against his kitchen counter, arms crossed before his chest and chin resting in one palm. He didn’t look at her. She had a bad feeling about this, not only because he refused to look at her.
“I know..” He mumbled quietly, seemingly in thought. Looking back at the baby she had to swallow down a lump. It was no secret to her that he was getting around, she had seen many of his ladies leaving his apartment. He had even searched refuge in her apartment a couple of times. That’s how they first met. But Colin was smart, at least she had thought he was smart enough to keep it wrapped.
“So that’s your…” She couldn’t see it but he nodded.
“Daughter,” he finished her sentence, confirming what she had already read in the note. One of his hookups had fallen pregnant, now she wasn’t able to look after her child anymore so she had dumped it onto him. He was supposed to look after his daughter now. Raise her.
With a loud sigh, she stepped up beside him, leaning against the counter too. Their shoulders touched. Colin finally looked at her while she kept her eyes focused on the baby. She missed the way he eyed her softly and fondly, quickly replaced with guilt and a brief glimpse of sorrow that crossed his face before he too focused back on the baby.
After a while of heavy silence, he spoke again, “You’ve got to help me.” His words made her look back at him, puzzled this time.
“I have no clue how to look after a kid.” She huffed and rolled her eyes.
“You have a nephew. You look after him regularly.”
“That’s different! He is nine. I wasn’t around when he was a baby.”
“Are you asking me to raise this baby with you?” She looked at him, hoping to find denial to her question. Colin only looked at her, hopefully and quietly. Biting her bottom lip she looked away. This was a lot to ask of her. Deep down she wanted to say yes to him without even thinking about it. Something told her this would be the closest thing resembling being with him that she could probably get. A glimpse of what a shared future with Colin Shea would look like. But even if his track record read like that of a manwhore, she had fallen for the charm he possessed and the human side he showed her. The Colin that was hidden beneath the superficial want of getting into one's panties. Focusing her eyes on his ceiling she took a deep breath. She felt a sense of sadness and hurt swirl in the pit of her stomach she couldn’t understand.
“Fine.”
Colin jumped up beside her, whooping and fist pumping the air. Barely started with his celebratory dance he froze mid-movement. Both their eyes jumped towards the table, waiting with bated breath. The baby didn’t budge and they could breathe a sigh of relief. Colin drew her into his arms and pressed a friendly kiss to her head.
“You are the best!”
“Only because I don’t want you to accidentally kill the kid.”
Tumblr media
Frantic knocking and panicked phone calls at the most ungodly hours had become the norm. Now too Colin stood in front of her apartment in the early morning - or what some people would still consider the middle of the night - with his daughter in his arms. He was at his wit's end, the small child didn’t want to stop crying no matter what he had tried.
He kept knocking until the door to his neighbor's apartment opened, revealing a tired, still very sleepy woman. The breath in his throat hitched at her sleep-disheveled sight. She looked cute and had it not been for the baby crying her soul out on his arm, he would have given himself longer to take her in.
Ushering both into the apartment, she was quick to close the door. A noise complaint from some of the other tenants was the last thing they wanted. Almost immediately she took over, grabbing the small child from his arms and pressing her against her chest. One hand laid on the baby’s head, the other propped under her little butt to keep her up. Shushing and swaying did nothing, not even from her. Colin looked exhausted, she noticed. There were deep purplish circles under his eyes, his hair was a mess and he wasn’t wearing a shirt under his jacket.
“What have you tried already?” She asked. It wasn’t the first time he had ended up at her place when the crying didn’t want to cease. They had the routine down to a notch, but normally the little one wasn’t as agitated as she was now.
“Everything!” Colin’s voice was laced with desperation, wobbling even as he felt ready to cry together with the small baby. He felt helpless, not knowing what to do anymore to soothe the baby.
She remembered the first time he called her over when she hadn’t stopped crying. That one had been easy. In the following times, it had steadily become harder as Colin’s own skills had evolved. Now she feared they had reached the point in which she too couldn’t help him with expertise anymore. Thinking hard, she kept swaying and shushing the baby that cried into her neck, tiny hands painfully tightened to fists that clasped her sleepshirt in their grip.
“Have you tried music yet?” Colin stopped in his movements, hands falling from his temples to look at her with big eyes. She could see the fatigue in his eyes, the heaviness with which they drooped. Her lip twitched upward at the hopefulness with which he looked at her right now. He had played for the little baby a lot of times before and she had always seemed to like it.
“Go get your guitar and bring her nest too,” she instructed him, sending him out of the apartment. The way Colin bolted made her chuckle quietly, he nearly tripped up her stairs too. While he was gone she looked down at the baby. Her face was red, wet from tears, and screwed up in an unhappy frown.
“What a silly dad you have. Be nice to him, he is trying his best.”
The baby kept wailing, it couldn’t have been hunger or a poopy diaper that had her this unhappy. Colin had become a pro at feeding and changing her. She was getting to the age at which babies normally started teething, so maybe it was that. Sometimes babies didn’t even need a reason to cry, they just did. She surely remembered the many stories her parents told her about their experiences, which reminded her of something.
Positioning the baby so she was laying in her arms instead of pressed against her chest, she smiled down at the little girl. A soft tap on the tiny nose did make her wailing stop for a moment, but only a short one. While Colin was still away - he certainly took long - she started to softly hum a lullaby her parents had always sung for her when she was little.
Tumblr media
Coming back the first thing Colin noticed was less crying. He slowed down on the threshold and strained his ears. He could still hear wailing but it wasn’t deafeningly loud anymore. Stepping into the living room he looked around and he saw she had migrated toward her bedroom, now walking back and forth in front of her bed. The second thing he noticed was the soft singing. It amazed him, both her beautiful voice and the way she sang to his daughter who was still fussy but not screaming at the top of her lungs anymore.
He felt like an intruder standing there and watching her, even more so when she looked up and their eyes met. Her smile had him smile back at her before he followed her nod towards the bed. He placed the nest on one side of the bed before he sat down and put his guitar on his lap.
Strumming the strings he listened to the melody she sang until he felt confident enough to follow and accompany her voice. With the added acoustic of the guitar, the baby finally calmed down.
It felt almost magical to Colin how fast she calmed down, back at his apartment it had felt like she would never do so. He watched in awe as the small girl looked up at her with those round and innocent eyes, yawning and reaching her hand out towards her. He watched as the baby settled against her shoulder, eyes growing heavy as she was swayed from left to right.
When his daughter was asleep, they put her down in her nest on the bed. Colin allowed himself to relax, feeling the tiredness pull on him. With a sigh she too sank down beside him on the bed, the way her head leaned against his shoulder had him smiling. He set the guitar down, leaning it against the bedpost.
“How did you do that? How did you know it would work?” He asked her, and she shrugged.
“I didn’t.” She shimmied a little, leaning against him as he wrapped his arm around her. “When I was a baby the only thing that put me down was music. She seemed to like it whenever you played. I figured it was worth a try.”
When he looked down at her, the softness in his expression was back. He was quiet, smiling to himself. Carefully he pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear.
“Thank you,” he whispered, causing her to hum. A yawn left her mouth, eyes closing on themselves. It was still early in the morning. Too early for them to be awake. Before he knew it, they both were sinking down on the bed, asleep before their heads even hit the mattress.
Tumblr media
Waking up much later when the sun shone through the windows into the room, she noticed the quiet. Glancing over to the nest the baby was sound asleep. Waking up like this felt like a dream, one in which she could convince herself that this was her life. Her baby and her Colin, she could wake up next to every morning. If only that dream could be reality. Stretching a little, she turned her head around to the body beside her. Colin was already awake and watching her with soft eyes and a dreamy smile. It made her cheeks heat up.
“What are you staring at you weirdo?” He chuckled at the words stumbling out of her mouth.
“Just you,” his words caused her to raise an eyebrow, cheeks still hot. He kept watching her for another moment, his eyes taking in the slightly disheveled hair, the crinkles from sleep, and having her face pressed against the sheets, her eyes still a little droopy and glossy. She could practically see his mind working as he thought about his next words before he pushed himself up onto his elbow. Colin hovered above her and she looked up at him while she lay on her back.
“I was just thinking…,” he trailed off.
“Yeah?” Her prodding made him smile, a hint of embarrassment tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“How nice it would be if this was my life.”
“This is your life, Colin. Are you sure you slept? You sound like the lack of sleep is making you say crazy things,” she asked with a laugh. His words sounded so silly to her.
“Shh.” He pressed his finger on her lips to silence her. “Let me finish.” She nodded silently, his finger still on her lips.
“I was thinking how nice it would be to wake up every morning beside you.” She gulped. Her heart stammered in her chest. She kept staring up at him with bated breath.
“How nice it would be to share this all with you,” he trailed off once again, leaning down and resting his arm across her middle. His eyes mustered her face before he glanced to the side. She followed his view to the nest, “How nice it would be if she was ours.”
Her heart was in her throat; breath and words leaving her at once. His words made her head spin, the meaning behind them overwhelming her. So many things convinced in so few words. Colin’s finger had slipped off her lips when she had turned her head.
“She could be,” she whispered, eyes still focused on the small baby. She stared at the small human with longing.
In the beginning, she had wished for her to never exist, now she felt shameful to have ever considered that. The more she had helped Colin adjust to life with a baby, the more she had fallen in love with the girl, the same way she had with her father. From then on the wishes in her had changed, wishing for the small girl to have been hers.
“Yeah?” Colin gasped. She nodded. The grin that spread on his face from that made her heart leap once more. He leaned over her again, coming closer and whispering against her lips, “I’m going to kiss you now, ok?”
Instead of reacting she was the one to breach the last distance and press their lips together. The kiss ignited a firework in her stomach. Colin’s hand wandered to her waist, softly grabbing and holding her there. Her fingers clutched the front of his jacket, fabric soft under her palms.
A noise had them pull away. Simultaneously they turned their heads to the little darling that had disturbed them with her coo. She was awake, gnawing on her fist and smiling at both of them. The gummy smile made her gasp and pat Colin’s chest.
“I knew it! She is starting to teeth. Oh honey, that has to be so uncomfortable.” Rolling towards the small girl, she rubbed her stomach. For the moment she seemed content, not too bothered with the growing pains. Colin behind her chuckled, she heard and felt him shuffle until his arm slung over her middle and his head came down to rest on her shoulder.
“You meant what you said?” He asked her quietly, watching his girls. Turning back to rest on her back she looked up at him again.
“She may not be mine biologically but I could love her like my own,” glimpsing back at the baby she corrected herself, “I think I already do.”
Colin descended down on her once more, kissing her breathless this time. With his hand on her waist, he pulled her even closer to him. This time they also weren’t interrupted by the baby, instead, it was her phone.
Pulling away with a groan she looked for her phone while Colin chased her lips, trying to get another kiss from her. With a chuckle, she pushed his face from hers and wiggled up to grab her phone. While stopping her alarm she caught a glimpse of the calendar.
“Huh,” she chuckled and looked back at him, “Do you know what day it is today?” He shrugged his shoulders, both hands landing on her waist and pulling her back towards him.
“I don’t care,” he told her, leaning in but she turned her head away. His lips landed on her cheek with a loud smack, one that had her laughing and Colin whining in protest.
“It’s Father’s Day,” she told him. Her phone got thrown back onto the nightstand before she turned around and put her hands on his cheeks.
“Happy Father’s Day,” she told him and pulled his face down for another kiss.

Series master list right here
"Mom, you know I've never met this man before, right?", you said with a slightly worried tone, your mother gives you an exasperated sigh and walked her way over to you, gripping your shoulders.
"Honey please, I just got married, I don't understand why you can't be happy for me this once.", you wrapped your arms around her neck and hugged your mother, she was right, you needed to see the best in this situation right now.
"I'm sorry mom, I am happy for you, it's just a lot to adjust to right now.", You gave your mother a slight smile and pulled away from her.
She gave you a smile back and responded, "oh I think you'll be okay; he has a son around your age, he's adopted but I think you two would like each other."
The smile on your face widened a little bit, your mouth opened once again to speak, but came to an abrupt stop as you saw an unfamiliar man stand behind your mother and give her a slight peck on the head.
Your mother giggled slightly and stepped back to stand by the man, "Honey, this is Andy, Andy this is my daughter.", your mother said as she spilled out your name back to the man beside her.
Andy unwrapped his arm around your mother's shoulder, and walked towards you, opening his arms forward to embrace you in a hug. This caught you off guard because for someone you just met, he seemed to be a little too touchy with you, but you thought nothing more of it, thinking it might just be the way your new stepfather expresses his feelings.
"It is so nice to finally meet you sweetie, I've heard so much about you." Andy said with a wide grin on his face, as he held you a little too tight for your own comfort.
As Andy was speaking to you, nodding your head once in a while at his banter. You heard a voice faintly behind Andy come closer.
"Dad, when will you let Colin come over, I'm fucking dying too actually-who is that?", you looked to see a younger guy with a buzzcut, and light blue eyes come out from behind Andy to get another good look at you.
Andy took a deep breath and gave a slight glare to the boy who shoved past him to you "Johnny, this is-", Andy was quickly stopped in the middle of his introduction when Johnny decided to introduce himself to you first.
"I'm Johnny, Johnny Storm, but you can call me whatever you like sweets", Johnny said with a smug grin as he took a step closer to you, and you instinctively took a step back from the muscular man, mumbling out an "okay.." and you adverted your gaze down to your feet.
It seemed a little rude once you actually processed what you just said, making yourself seem passive and unwelcoming, but for some reason you just felt shy around both of these new men, men that are now a part of your family, men that you are now permanently living with.
Johnny chuckled and continued to try to keep the conversation alive, even though his father stood sternly right behind him. Andy quickly shut down his next spill of flirtatious chatter when he saw how visibly uncomfortable you looked.
"Johnny, this is your new stepsister, don't be disrespectful.", Andy said with a warning, but Johnny just nodded and shrugged him off, giving you a playful wink and walking away with a slight skip, boosting himself over the curve of the driveway.
"Sorry about him, he just never runs out of energy ya know?" Andy says with a slight chuckle at the end. You smiled slightly and gave him a nod of reassurance.
"It's perfectly fine, doesn't bother me." You said quietly before adverting your gaze from him once again.
"Well, if he does, just come tell me and I'll go talk to him, I'd hate it if you felt uncomfortable in any way." Andy said with a slightly sympathetic look on his face.
Your mother took an earful of this moment, and decided to express her love for it "Oh Andy, you're too sweet, we both appreciate whatever you do for us."
Andy smiled brightly, still keeping his eyes glued to you, "Just doing what anyone would do" he responded.
💼
After a long day of moving boxes and making conversation, your social battery seemed to run out completely, wanting nothing more than to lay in bed and finally relax. Except it was only 3 in the afternoon.
With a lot of procrastination, you finally got out of bed and decided to dig through the fridge to find something to drink, making your way to the kitchen, until you heard a knock at the front door.
Thats weird? You weren't expecting anyone, maybe it's just one of those people who give out pamphlets about polar bears for no reason.
Making your way over to the door hesitantly, deciding if you really want to stand in the doorway and talk about how you can stop global warming for 30 minutes, but there also was a chance that it was actually somebody important.
Twisting the knob and opening the door to find a decently attractive man who looked to be around Johnny's age standing patiently. He twisted his head towards you and raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"Well, you're not Johnny." the man said with a slight smile on his face, and you nodded in agreement before responding.
"Um, if you're here for him, I guess you can come in." you responded as you took a step back to let him enter. He chuckled, walking past you to stand next to you as the door shut.
"Thanks sweetheart, I don't think I've met you before, I'm sure I would've remembered a cutie like you", he said playfully as your cheeks heat up slightly at the sudden comment.
"I-um, no we haven't met before, I think Johnny is in his room." You responded quickly before trying to walk away.
"Wait, hold on, I didn't get your name." the man said as he chased after you slightly, and you mumbled out your name slightly, waiting for him to reciprocate the action.
"Oh right, I'm Colin." You nodded once again.
"Nice to meet you, Colin.", deciding to try and end the conversation here so you could continue scavenging for a drink.
"Ok, ok, I can get a hint, I'll see you around sweetheart." He said as he gave you a wink before walking away.
What was weird about that is he kind of acts the same way Johnny does, but maybe that's why they're friends, of course people like other people that are similar to them, you felt stupid once you actually thought about it.
💼
Once you made your way into the kitchen, finally getting one step closer to what you wanted, except Andy was also in the kitchen leaning on the kitchen counter nursing a beer that he put down almost immediately at your presence.
"Honey, you scared me, did you need something?" He said and let out a sigh of relief that it was just you.
"I came to get a drink." You responded simply, just like the rest of you, Boring and simple.
"Of course..but could I talk to you about something honey, I just want to make sure there's no tension between us." He said softly, pushing himself off of the counter and towards you.
You gave Andy a nod of reassurance to continue, settling for a bottle of water as you sat down on the bar stool, right across where Andy was standing.
"I know your shy sweetie, but I want to let you know that you can tell me anything, your mother told me about your father, and I think it's important that you have a man in your life, someone that can take care of you honey, all of your wants and needs." Andy said softly, walking around the counter to stand behind you.
Your eyes widened as he rubbed circles on your back, your mother hasn't mentioned your father in years to you. She knows it's a sensitive subject for you to talk about, you doubt that your mother wouldn't have mentioned that to Andy.
"I-um-I don't really like to talk about my dad." you said with a slight tremble in your voice as you felt your throat get tighter, and your eyes get glassy with tears.
Your father died when you were only 9 but it felt like yesterday to you. Of course, you miss him, but you would rather not talk about it then mourn him every day.
Andy saw your eyes start to water, and your muscles start to tense. He just cooed at you lovingly, his hand moved off your back and moved directly behind you to wrap his arms around your shoulders.
"Oh sweetie, I know it's hard to talk about your feelings, but I want you to trust me, so I can be a good daddy and take care of you, don't you want that?" Andy said quietly while resting his chin on your shoulder.
Lost for words was one thing, you felt dumb, talking to you like a child, but deep down you found it strangely comforting. Andy walked back in front of you and grabbed your chin, tilting your head up softly with his fingers.
"You're my special little girl, I want you to know that honey." Andy added, while stroking your face like it was the most delicate thing in the world.
Trying to avoid eye contact with him was hard because than you couldn't help but feel tears run down your cheeks, maybe you did feel like Andy actually cared about you.
Andy suddenly pulled you closer to his chest while shushing you, pecking the top of your head once in a while. Hearing a faint noise of chatter coming closer to you made your head perk up with warning, you didn't want to anybody to see you cry today, especially over something you should've got over years ago.
"Hey dad I-what happened?" Johnny said as he skipped in the kitchen nosily, Colin standing right beside him, watching the scene unfold in front of him.
Looking from Andy's chest in embarrassment, watching the three men surrounding you, well mostly two in concern. This made more anxiety pump up in your chest and suddenly you darted down the hallway to your bedroom, where you should have stayed all along.
Ignoring the faint calls for your name and shutting the door behind you. Locking it and sliding down against your wall, finally letting all the sobs you've been keeping in until now. Great, now you won't hear the end of it tomorrow. Maybe a new family wasn't such a great idea after all.
A/n: It's been a minute since I posted ya'll, but I also just had a random urge to write a series with four hot men in it. Part two will be coming soon!

Tumblr media
A/N: ahh Colin.. little horny fuck boy, but what happen if you push his limits?.... 213 words
Tumblr media
What had you done? well... he had just gotten home from 3 consecutive shows and just need you to warm his cock, no movement... but you wanted something else. You held the desk in front of you and began gently up and down. Colin gasped and wrapped his hand around your throat. ''What the fuck do you think you're doing brat!'' He pulled you off quick and carried you to the bed, tying your wrists to the head board and pulling your legs apart. ''Now i'll fuck you.. but I wont let you cum'' you gasped ''Colin nooo-FUCK!'' you were cut off when we slammed his hips into you.
''Collllinnnn!!!!'' you whined as he pulled out of you for the 5th time. Both of you groaning at his edging. Your hands were tied above the bed, legs spread open, being held back his knees. ''I told you, be bratty and you'll be punished'' He pushed back into you again, making you arch your back hard. He spanked your ass, making you moan loudly. Colin leaned down and grabbed your chin. ''Apologise and i'll let you cum'' you panted in his face. ''I'm sorry Col, won't be bratty again I promise'' Colin rolls his eyes ''I know that's not true but.. you apologised so fine..'' he begins to rub your clit again. ''Cum! cum now'' You arched your back and came hard around his cock, squirting lightly. Collin groaned and came after you, before laying down beside you and pulling you close to his chest. ''Good girl'' he whispered in your ear, gently stroking your arm.
