Summary: Putting yourself to the front, you bluntly ask Colin to marry you, yet his answer is not what you expected. Torn and haunted by his actions, need Colin to clear the doubts in his mind. [ part 1 & part 2 & part 3 ]
Tumblr media
“What has happened?” – Colin asked. You took him by the hand, pulling him away. Out of the house as you didn’t wish to look upon your sister anymore. Colin confused yet obliged followed you without any restrains. Outside you kept tugging Colin along. – “Y/n wait… what is…” – he asked terribly confused, looking over his shoulder back to the house.
You weren’t listening, simply dragging him along as he put you to a stop. Grabbing your shoulder to stop you and turn him to you. – “What am I missing? Has something happened between you and your sister?” – he wanted to know. The moment his eyes met up with yours, it was enough to give you the clearing. – “My sister is right.” – you outed without a warning.
“I never do anything for myself. Always put my own happiness to the side so my sisters can thrive.” – you went on grabbing Colin by his shoulders. – “I have to think of myself.” – you added looking with wide eyes at him. – “So Colin marry me!” – you expressed with a wide smile. Your words stunned Colin. Making him flutter confused with his eyelashes. He then chuckled nervously taking your hands off him, to gently hold in his grip. – “Are… aren’t you rushing things Y/n?”
“Don’t… don’t you like me?” – you asked nervously. – “I…I do…” – Colin responded still trying to normalize what you just said. – “So marry me.” – you insisted upon finally claiming something for you. Colin lowered your hands with a soft sigh. – “That’s not how you…” – he started taking a soft breath. – “I like you Y/n I do, but marriage. It isn’t something to take lightly.” – Colin explained as if he had more experience with it. – “We kissed did we not?” – you let out taking a step back. – “We did.” – he replied looking at the ground. – “Then why won’t you marry me?” – you called out.
“I don’t know!” – Colin shouted back in desperation. Hardly knowing what he felt or wanted. Lip quivering, you slightly shook your head, backing away. – “Y/n…” – Colin said softly. – “I should’ve never…” – you whispered turning around as you wiped your cheek. Walking off trying to keep your head up high. Sobbing loud, you caught yourself falling even deeper. First your sister now Colin.
You didn’t understand why everyone was so against you. Everyone around you turning into people you didn’t recognize. No one to rely on. All becoming one by one strangers to you. Wiping more tears away, you felt your heart go bitter. Not wanting any more of the heartache it was causing you. You rather wanted it to be ripped out then continue to feel it bleed.
Colin returned home with his head low. He entered the Parlor as Benedict looked up with a cheeky smile. – “How was your visit to the Featheringtons?” – he teased with his hand under his chin. – “Forget about it!” – Colin said snappy making Benedict blink stunned. Not the reaction he expected at all. Eloise came moving around the sofa’s to him. – “Has there been more talk about Y/n?” – Eloise gasped concerned.
Colin threw his hand up. – “Not everything is about that woman!” – he replied. – “Somone is prickly.” – Benedict commented chuckling. Colin sighed loud taking his leave. On his way out of the Parlor he almost bumped into Francesca. – “What is with him?” – she asked as Eloise and Benedict both pulled their shoulders up. Colin went straight up to his room, letting himself fall onto his bed. Staring up to the ceiling as he felt the room spin around him. Why didn’t he know?
Mother came home with Phillipa and Prudence. Prudence sighed loud taking off her shoes. She started to rub her feet. Phillipa gave her hand a slap to stop it before sitting with her. – “Penelope! Y/n!” – mother shouted loud. Not a moment later appeared Penelope in the waiting room. Mother looked surprised at Penelope alone. – “Where is your sister?” – she asked. Penelope adverted her gaze. – “With Colin I presume.” – she commented with a sarcastic undertone. – “Bridgerton?” – Phillipa said confused.
“How many Colin’s do you know?” – Penelope answered bitsy. Phillipa moved her shoulders up innocently or too dumbfound. Prudence shook her head with a soft sigh. – “I shall call upon her.” – she said getting back up. – “Why is Y/n with Colin Bridgerton?” – Phillipa asked rubbing her still sore foot. – “I’m hoping doing a better job at courting than you girls.” – Mother insultingly commented. Prudence left, taking the carriage to ride over to the Bridgerton household.
The doorman opened the door, allowing her in. He announced her at the house. Prudence walked into the Parlor, bowing to the Bridgerton’s. – “Prudence… what… what a lovely surprise?” – Violet said slightly confused yet still upholding her manners. – “I’ve come for my sister.” – she answered. The Bridgerton’s looked confused at each other. Prudence picked up on that, feeling a bit foolish now.
“Is… is she not here?” – she asked fumbling with her fingers. – “Penelope said she was with Colin.” – she finished, looking at anywhere but them. The Bridgerton’s all looked at Colin. – “Don’t look at me.” – he answered holding his hands up. Violet looked to Prudence and back to Colin. – “You were at their household were you not?” – she questioned.
“I didn’t leave with Y/n, if that is what you are suggesting mother.” – Colin spoke folding his hands together before him. – “Well she is not at home either…” – Prudence replied softly. – “Has there been anything that would suggest something?” – Prudence asked taking a step forwards. – “No.” – Colin said with a clearance of his throat and looking away.
Violet kept looking at her son, trying to figure out if he knew anything. He wasn’t letting anything loose. – “My apologies Prudence, but your sister is not here. I do hope you find her soon.” -  Violet commented with a small bow. Prudence curtsied back, taking her leave. Hoping you had somehow returned home upon her arrival.
Moving your hands higher over your arms, you pulled your knees closer to your chest. Head down, sobbing quietly underneath the tree’s shadow. Back against it’s bark. Thinking of what you have all done wrong to be treated like this. At first you didn’t want to notice Colin’s kindness towards you. Then you had accepted it as it felt so glorious. To be noticed by someone that only seemed to have eyes for you.
Then it’s all taken away when you had tasted too much from it. Perhaps he only liked you to flirt with. Not seeing marriage material in you, for who would ever marry a Featherington. Sniffing loud, you lifted up your head, seeing that the sun had begun to set. Not a part of you wanted to return home, but you had no options. Staying out here was too dangerous. With a lot of effort, you dragged yourself back to the house.
Mother gasped loud when she saw you pass in the hallway, hurrying over to see it better for herself. – “Where have you been?” – she shouted concerningly. – “To be alone.” – you answered, dragging yourself up the stairs. Mother sighed deep touching her forehead. Finally she was able to head for bed, knowing you were home. The other girls had gone to bed hours ago.
Mother insisting to stay awake till she heard news from you.  The Featherington household grew silent, all gone to sleep. At the Bridgerton house was but one member still awake. Anthony working in the study on some papers. Managing the estate hasn’t always been easy. Kate had gone long to bed, trying to stay by her husband’s side, but she couldn’t keep her eyes open.
Upstairs going down the second floor, in one of the rooms was someone restless. Tossing and turning in their sleep. Breath loud and sharp as they were tormented with flashes of scenario’s. The image of you appearing in their mind. The look in your eyes as he heard himself repeat his words. Colin turned his head restless, trying to say other words, but it was useless. No matter how hard he tried, he kept repeating his words from before over and over.
Each time, his dream settled on your face. Seeing the moment your heart broke over and over again. Tormenting him with each word. Till he no longer could bear it. Colin gasped loud, jumping up from his nightmare. Pressing his palms against his eyes, he hoped it would all be a dream, yet it wasn’t. Turning his head, he saw little time had passed. Knowing he wouldn’t sleep anymore till it was sorted out, he putted on a shirt, going downstairs.
There was a light coming from the study, walking up to it. There was a soft knock on the door, making Anthony lift his head up. – “Yes?” – he said curious watching as the door opened. – “Colin?” – he said startled setting his papers down. Colin walked in, staring lost in front of him. – “What is it?” – Anthony asked gesturing at the chair at the other side of the desk. Colin shuffled more into the room, closing the door behind him. – “I… I… have you ever said anything you regretted?” – he asked his big brother.
Anthony looked puzzled at Colin. – “Has this anything to do with the Featheringtons? Perhaps Y/n Featherington?” – Anthony asked, gesturing at the chair once more. Colin walked up to the chair, grabbing it from behind. – “What happened after you visited them?” – Anthony questioned needing a bit more context. Colin swallowed nervously turning his gaze away. – “I might have been stupid. The stupidest I have ever been.” – he explained still not sitting down. – “What did you say?” – Anthony wanted to know, feeling a bit worried about the possibility’s of his brother’s stupidness.
“I kissed Y/n Featherington.” – he confessed. Anthony’s eyes widened. – “When?” – he called out trying to keep his voice low, but his concern took over. Colin avoided his brother’s stern gaze. – “A ball or two ago…” – he went on, spilling his gut. Anthony could only stare at him in shock. – “Has anyone seen you?” – was Anthony’s next question. – “No!” – Colin blurted out, looking right at his brother.
Then his gaze drifted shyly away. – “Colin!” – Anthony shrieked out in a panic. – “I don’t think so!” – he called back in an equal panic. Anthony sighed loud, sinking back in his chair. Colin swallowed nervously. – “What more have you done?” – Anthony begged to know, hoping he wouldn’t get a heart attack from it. Colin noticed how his brother was looking at her.
“Nothing like that!” – he called out, knowing what he was hinting. He wouldn’t be improper with you like that. – “I’ve… I’ve just been an ass.” – he spoke letting himself fall in the chair with a weary sigh. Anthony folded his hands in front of him on the desk. – “Well go on, it can’t be any worse… or can it?” – Anthony responded hesitant. Colin shook his head then shrugged his shoulders.
“What did you tell her?” – Anthony asked calmly. – “She… she asked me to marry her today.” – Colin confessed with sweaty palms. Anthony’s eyes widened again. – “I… I kind of told her off… in a way…” – he went on. Anthony shook his head with a sigh. – “I can’t stop thinking about what I said.” – Colin moved closer to Anthony’s desk, leaning forwards. – “I could see her heart break through her eyes.” – he felt a bit ashamed of himself.
“Do you like her?” – Anthony asked. – “I do.” – Colin answered without hesitation. – “As more than a friend?” – his brother corrected, finding his answer a bit too easy. Colin adverted his gaze unsure. Anthony sighed again, pinching his nose bridge. – “Don’t be stubborn as me brother. If you love her, let her know before she slips through your fingers. Believe it is not a feeling you wish to feel.” – he spoke referring to the moment he thought Kate would die on him from her horse accident.
Colin groaned soft, moving his hands through his hair. – “It all feels so foggy.” – he spoke. – “Then make it clearer.” – Anthony simply answered. It made Colin lift his head up with wide eyes.

Hi!
If you haven't already written one x fem!reader fic with Colin with the "I miss you" scene from one of the teasers, could you do one then and have him call on her in a few days groveling or smth like that.
Anyway, no pressure to write it
A/N i’ve been fantasising about this since the teaser came out, absolutely I will write this thank you very much for the request!!
Spiteful
“The truth is, I miss you y/n.” He says, towering over me, it makes me scoff and roll my eyes. In truth, there is a part of me that wants to just give in and forget what happened, but the bigger -and more spiteful- part of me isn’t going to let that happen.
“You miss me but you would not court me is that correct?” I snap back, watching as it takes him by surprise and he looks at me confused. “I heard you at the end of last season, at my mama’s ball, saying you would never court Y/F/N.” Now he looks regretful but I’m taking none of it, I’ve had enough of being treated this way by him and the rest of the ton. “I am the laughing stock of entire ton no matter what lengths I take, it just never occurred to me that you, of all people, could be so cruel.” I practically snarl, something I never thought I was capable of, before turning and walking off to my carriage to take me back home.
I spent the next day as expected, waiting around for all of zero suitors to call on me. This season is shaping up to be just as the last, no prospects whatsoever. Looks like I will be a spinster as Cressida always said. I really had hoped to prove her wrong.
I didn’t even bother preparing myself for a potential suitor calling on me the day after, I knew it was pointless. I saw the lines of men pouring out of the houses surrounding mine, the most exciting part of my day was when breakfast was served. What? We have a great cook.
It’s the late afternoon now and I’m playing a game of chess with my papa, I’ve much improved recently and it looks like I might even win this time. Then I’m told I have a visitor, and my mama gets much too overexcited. I insist it is probably just a friend, a suitor would not come this late in the day surely?
Colin Bridgerton. Stood in my hall, looking like a puppy that’s been kicked rather brutally. Perhaps he feels like he has. He asks to take me to promenade and insists that he has brought his own chaperone. Honestly I think he’s acting rather strange. He had his opportunity to stop playing the pitying friend so why didn’t he take it? Why is he here?
He leads me to his carriage and, the gentleman he is, helps me inside. When we’re in the carriage I quickly realise that there is no chaperone. “I know how this looks but I swear I mean nothing untoward.” I level him with a glare, waiting for some kind of explanation for hiding wildly inappropriate behaviour. “I needed to talk to you in private and this was the only way. I- I need to apologise. I was wrong at your mama’s ball, I shouldn’t have been so cruel. It was unfair and- and it wasn’t because I think badly of you.” I raise an eyebrow, wanting to interrupt his ramblings but allowing him to continue. “I spent all of yesterday pacing around trying to figure out why I did it, why did I act that rash and respond the way I did. And I figured it out!” He looks at me almost excitedly. I gesture for him to continue.
“Go on then, why did you say what you did?” I ask flatly.
“Because they were right! Or at least I wanted them to be. Y/n I would be lucky if you allowed me to court you, I just had no idea that that was even what I wanted. The whole summer I was away I was consumed with thoughts of you. Every letter I wrote to you I prayed that you would respond, every day I didn’t receive a letter from you my heart would ache, and I had no idea as to why. Why it felt as though my very soul was missing you, needing you. I tried to ignore it, convincing myself I was merely homesick.” He scoffs at himself, he’s so far forward he’s barely on his seat anymore. “I have never wished to be home the way I have wished to be with you. You took over every part of my life, so much so it was inescapable, and truly, it became addictive.” He stares me dead in the eyes now and takes my hands in his. When did I stop breathing? “I know I have been cruel, I know I am not deserving of your forgiveness, let alone your love, but I beg you. I beg you take pity on me, let me try to make it up to you. I would give you the world if you asked for it, I would grovel at your feet in front of the entire ton if that is what you wished, you’ve become my reason to breathe, my reason to live, my everything. I could not carry on knowing I had hurt you so without paying penance for what I’ve done. Please, allow me to make it up to you.”
A pull in what air I can manage, trying to stop the tears streaming down my eyes. Even the most spiteful parts of my mind do not speak. Only a small part of my mind, one I have pressed down for many a year now whispers, ‘kiss him’. But I won’t, I won’t take that risk. What I do do though, is squeeze his hands gently. I try to muster up some kind of coherent sentence but I don’t think anyone could after that. I nod. “Okay.” He looks almost shocked, as if he didn’t just recite the most beautiful love confession I’ve ever heard to me. “Just, take it slow, okay?” I manage to get out.
He laughs, triumphantly, and squeezes my hand even tighter, thanking me far too much and swearing he will be the best suitor ever known. I believe him.
He does take me promenading, his mama chaperoning. It’s one of the nicest days I have. Now a part of me is really glad that the spiteful part of my mind couldn’t let it go.

ope there goes gravity
a/n: snap back to reality, ope there goes gravity When I tell you I've wanted to re-write this scene yet it's Bridgerton!sis who falls off since 2021
summary: Y/N Bridgerton was not in the gardens at the Trowbridge Ball. She had no idea of what transpired. Yet, somehow, she ends up in the middle of a duel, in an empty park, at dawn. And it's all Daphne's fault.
Tumblr media
Bridgerton House was quiet.
Most of the staff had gone to bed - only Humboldt and Mrs Wilson remained awake, awaiting the return of those in attendance at the Trowbridge Ball.
Y/N Bridgerton - the sixth youngest in the Bridgerton family - was fast asleep in her bed, blankets tucked around her, candle gently flickering in the draft.
As much as she longed for the days when she could spend more time with her elder brothers and dance the night away, she was never a night owl. Y/N was almost always in bed before nine and asleep by eleven.
Everything was quiet in Bridgerton House. Except for a gentle yet frantic knocking on Y/N's bedroom door. It was just loud enough for the young girl to hear and she blearily blinked awake, half wondering if something miraculous had happened at the ball that Daphne simply could not wait to tell her about.
"Yes, I'm coming," Y/N muttered, sliding out of bed and grabbing her shawl. She wrapped her shawl around her as she opened her bedroom door, staring in surprise at the dishevelled state of her eldest sister.
"Daff, what -"
"Anthony is to duel Simon at dawn," Daphne announced, marching into Y/N's bedroom.
Y/N blinked, slowly processing the information. "Pardon me, what?"
Daphne sighed, running a shaking hand through her messy hair. "I kissed Simon."
"You kissed Simon?!"
"Well, I kissed him... and then his hands may have strayed away from where is socially acceptable."
Y/N looked at her sister, frowning ever so slightly. She was certain she knew what Daphne was alluding to - Y/N had talked with her lady's maid about sex and had learnt more than her mother would ever tell her.
"Daff did he..."
"No! Lord, no. I wanted it and it was entirely heat of the moment in the gardens -"
"How does this lead to Anthony duelling the Duke?"
"He found us. In the gardens. And he saw my... breast."
Y/N's mouth fell open. She stared in shock at her sister - the sister who had always followed society's rules, who had always been practically perfect.
"I know, it is bad -"
Y/N snorted, a bubble of laughter escaping her lips. Daphne instantly fell silently, glaring at her.
"Sorry," Y/N said, pressing her hand to her mouth. "I know it's not funny. I just... I am not quite sure how else to react."
"I have made a complete mess of things," Daphne moaned, sitting down on Y/N's bed with a dramatic flop. "I am in such a tangle, Y/N."
"Can I ask you something?" Daphne nodded. "Why did you come to me?" At her sister's confused gaze, Y/N elaborated. "Well, Colin is downstairs, is he not? So, why come to me instead of him? He is probably of more help."
"But he does not understand, fully, the extent of the situation." Daphne inhaled deeply, laying her hand's palm up in her lap. "I was caught, by my oldest brother, in a compromising position. He is now challenging the Duke of Hastings to a duel - a duel that will likely end with one person dead and the other fleeing the country. It will forever ruin two families and their lives. I cannot let that happen."
"Did anyone see you? In the gardens, I mean."
Daphne opened her mouth to immediately answer but found herself pausing. "Cressida. Oh, god, Cressida saw."
"What?"
"She made a snide comment, one that I brushed aside because Simon had just rejected me and a duel had been announced, but she said something about the gardens."
"Daphne, if Cressida saw, no matter the outcome of this duel, the ton will still find out."
"What do we do?" Daphne asked, looking at her younger sister with such helplessness, that Y/N's heart ached.
Y/N walked over to her wardrobe and pulled out a dark blue riding habit, throwing it onto the bed. "We get changed," she said, undoing her hair from its braids, "and we go downstairs and demand Colin takes us to where the duel is to take place."
"You are coming too?"
"Of course," Y/N said as if Daphne had just asked the stupidest question in the world, "I would never leave my sister to stop a duel herself."
Daphne stood up from the bed and flung herself at Y/N, hugging her tightly. "Thank you," she said, sniffing quietly.
"Come on, we can hug later," Y/N told her, giving her a tight squeeze.
Tumblr media
Colin, it turned out, was easily manipulated once told the severity of the situation. Even though he tried to stop Y/N from coming - because, really, did he have to babysit two sisters? - Daphne put her foot down and insisted she came for backup.
What sort of backup a seventenn-year-old girl was going to provide against two grown men and two guns, Y/N wasn't entirely sure. She was simply glad to be involved in the drama for once.
In the early morning, just as the sun began its ascent into the sky, the three Bridgerton's mounted their respective horses and took off for Hyde Park. Daphne urged her horse ahead of everyone's, galloping through the streets.
Y/N knew her sister was blinded by panic and anger. It wasn't hard for her, as a woman, to understand why. No matter what happened in the next few hours, Daphne's life would be changed forever.
As the sun began to rise - just peeking over the edge of the fields - Daphne was leaving Colin behind. They'd entered Hyde Park - which was thankfully empty - and Y/N was struggling to catch her sister up.
In the far distance, she could see five figures standing around a copse of trees - two were slowly walking away from one another.
Daphne, somehow, urged her horse to go even faster.
"Daphne!" Y/N yelled, her words swept away by the wind rushing past her.
Her sister was about to ride straight into the middle of a duel. Y/N wasn't quite sure what she was hoping to achieve - Daphne would end up either getting shot at or end up falling off her horse.
To be fair, Y/N wasn't entirely honest as to what she herself was hoping to achieve by catching up to Daphne. She couldn't simply yank Daphne's horse to a halt and force her to walk into the duel.
They'd almost reached the copse of trees. Y/N could see Simon and Anthony slowly beginning to turn to face one another. Daphne was riding straight between the two trees and Y/N urged her horse to go even faster.
Her horse, seeming to notice her urgency and her fear, pushed itself even harder, eating up the ground beneath it.
Daphne rode into the middle of the duel, yanking her horse up. "Stop!"
Someone fired their gun, the sound echoing out across the empty fields.
Y/N was not sure what happened next. Because one minute she was yanking her horse to a sharp stop, trying to avoid running into Daphne, and the next she was falling, the world spinning and turning around her.
Anthony had Daphne a second too late. He pressed the trigger, firing his bullet at Hastings. His eyes widened as Daphne rode through the duel, her horse skidding to an abrupt halt on the other side. Y/N, however, in an attempt to not ride into her sister, yanked her horse to a stop in the middle of the duel,
As Anthony's gun fired and the sound cracked out through the silent morning.
Horses neighed, rearing up in fear. Anthony watched as his younger sister - the one he'd always had a soft spot for - lost her balance and was de-saddled by her horse.
"Y/N!" Anthony yelled, his eyes widening in absolute horror as his sister fell, her head smacking the solid ground.
He ran towards his sister, vaguely registering Simon catching Daphne's horse by its reins and helping her down. Anthony threw his pistol to the side, falling to his knees beside Y/N as Benedict sprinted over to them, joining Anthony at Y/N's side.
"Sister," Anthony said, his voice laced with panic as his hands roamed over her body, every worst-case scenario running through his head. "Hastings!" He yelled, glancing over his shoulder at the man. "Is she alright?"
"Fine, worry about her!" Daphne yelled back, answering for herself.
"Y/N?" Anthony murmured, leaning down, brushing her hair back from her face. "Sister?"
It felt as if an eternity passed as Anthony waited, watching his sister intently. He let out a gust of air in relief as his sister's eyes flickered open, her gaze foggy as she tried to work out where she was and why she was on the floor.
"Oh, thank God," Anthony said, leaning back.
Y/N sat up, brushing her hair back from her face. She looked up and over at her sister, who was watching with concern but looked in relatively one piece.
"Oh, you alright over there?" Y/N yelled, kneeling on the ground.
"You rode into the duel!" Daphne yelled back, marching over to her.
"I was trying to stop you from getting shot!"
"Clearly, I was fine!"
"Clearly!"
"Ladies!"
The two sisters turned their heads sharply to look at Anthony - who was staring at them both as if they were mad.
"Are you two done?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. They nodded. "Good. Now, what the hell were you thinking?"
"I could not let you kill a man," Daphne said, looking at her brother. "Not when it would cause more harm than good."
"Why did you bring Y/N?"
"I needed someone who would understand my side," Daphne explained. "Besides, we were not unchaperoned."
"What - Colin?!"
"What was I meant to do? They were going to come with or without me."
Anthony looked like he might combust. "Oh dear -"
"I need a moment with the Duke," Daphne said, talking over Anthony as he swore. "Please."
"Daphne, I cannot -"
As Anthony went off, Daphne cast her sister a desperate gaze. Y/N raised her eyebrows, questioning whether what Daphne as asking was strictly necessary. Daphne practically stamped her foot in reply and Y/N huffed.
Their entire silent conversation happened in under ten seconds. Anthony was mid-rant about Hastings and Y/N sighed.
"Oh, I feel really dizzy," Y/N said suddenly, trying to sound genuine.
Y/N stumbled back a step, her back hitting Anthony's chest. Knowing he was directly behind her, Y/N let her legs fold beneath her and Anthony scrambled to catch her.
Daphne gave Y/N the smallest smile before turning to face Simon, grabbing his wrist and pulling him aside.
"Sister, sister, what's wrong?" Anthony asked, his voice frantic.
Benedict knelt down next to Y/N and tilted his head slightly, completely unconvinced of her entire act. He was always able to read her like an open book.
"Sorry, I think I sat up too fast," Y/N replied, pushing herself into a sitting position, and patting Anthony's hand.
"Jesus Christ, Y/N," Anthony muttered, running a hand through his hair. He looked to his left, seeing Daphne talking to the Duke, a hand on his elbow. . "Daff - what are you doing?!"
Daphne turned to him, grimacing slightly. "TheDuke and I are to be married."
That shut Anthony up.
Tumblr media
Y/N was desperately trying not to fall asleep on Colin. Her eyes were ever so heavy and it was getting hard to not close them. Colin glanced at his sister, nudging her foot with his.
"You can go for a nap," he said quietly, not wanting to interrupt their mother, who was mid-flow about wedding preparations.
"No, no, if I do mother will think it weird," Y/N replied. "I rarely nap unless ill."
"Or exhausted."
"Unless I have a reason to be exhausted."
"Just say you stayed up late talking to Daphne about the engagement."
"Which will then lead to her asking me why I acted as if I did not know this morning." Y/N yawned, covering her mouth with her hand. "I shall simply proclaim a headache once she has finished talking and go for a nap afterwards."
"It will be bedtime by then."
"Precisely my point."
Colin rolled his eyes, picking up a biscuit from the tray next to him. "It was incredibly brave what you did this morning."
"Oh, hardly."
"I do not see any of the Featheringtons running into the middle of a duel for their sibling."
"Because they do not like one another," Y/N countered. "I happen to be rather fond of our dear sister."
"Still. You did not have to get involved."
Y/N sighed softly. "What I do not think many men understand is how marriage affects not only the woman involved but the other women in her life. Should Daphne have not ended the duel engaged to the Duke, then myself and all our sisters would have been ruined. I went, to not only protect Daphne but to protect myself and my own future."
Colin looked deep in thought for a moment as he munched on his biscuit, chewing slowly. "Does not make you any less brave," he eventually replied, swallowing. "Knowing you needed to fight for yourself as well as your sister's."
Y/N raised her eyebrows in a swift movement. She slumped against the sofa, clasping her hands on her stomach and closing her eyes. "Somebody has to. Everyone else is too wrapped up in their own damn lives."
She kept her eyes shut after her statement, trying to get a power nap in whilst her mother nagged Daphne about flower arrangements. Colin didn't quite realise Y/N had completely fallen asleep until her head slumped onto his shoulder and he felt her curl up into his side, using him as a pillow.
Colin glanced down at her, trying not to move, the smallest of smiles on his face.
"Now, Y/N, dearest - Colin, is she asleep?"
Colin jumped slightly, startled by his mother's sudden appearance by his right shoulder. "Uh... yes."
"Why is she asleep? She said she slept well last night."
"Ah, well, that might be my fault," Colin lied, "I kept her up telling her all about the ball. She asked and I fear I went on a bit in my description."
Violet didn't look entirely convinced. To be honest, she had had a look of suspicion on her face since that morning - a look all of her elder children were trying to ignore.
"Alright, then. Maybe take her up to her bedroom if she is truly that tired, though, Colin - let her have a decent rest. Now, Daphne, your gown..."
Colin turned away from his mother and looked back down at Y/N - who was still snuggled up into his side. He didn't move. He simply shifted ever so slightly, picked up another biscuit, and bit into it, content to sit there for as long as he had a decent supply of biscuits.

when all i want is you | part two | c.b
pairing: Colin Bridgeton x gn!reader
summary: you and Colin now married spend a day in Italy
warnings: just fluff
word count: 500 ish
a/n: this took an embarrassing amount of time to write but I finally felt like writing so here! This is kinda short, I wanted to keep it happy but might revisit one day. This is also the third day of uploading in a row, will it continue or will I not write for the rest of the year?
requested@helen06dreamer: Hello! Can you please give us a second part at the 'when all u want is you'? Please 🥺
You can find part one here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The smell of fresh bread filled the small room in Italy, they sighed a breath of comfort pulling the bed covers around them as they sat up in bed. Beside them, Colin was still fast asleep, his back bathing in the warm morning air.
Tiptoeing they moved across the room, throwing on a dressing gown and stepping out onto the balcony. Below them most of the local people and tourists were already going about their days. The ring on their left hand glittered in the sunlight.
“I’ll get you a better one once we return to London” Colin said from behind them, he wrapped his arms around their waist and rested his head on their shoulder.
Still holding their hand out they exhaled, “I can’t imagine there ever being a better ring than this”,leaning back in his chest.
The wedding was perfect even if it was just the two of them, the vicar and two local people to bear witness, it was nothing like the rich and lavish weddings the upper circle of London had. But to them both it was the finest wedding anyone living and dead had ever had.
He held his new spouse and rocked them, “what do you say to visiting the Tower of Pisa?”. They turned to face him and kissed his cheek.
“We should bring a picnic, like we would in Hyde park”
Tumblr media
Colin held onto their hand the whole way, growing tighter as the crowds grew. It was truly a beautiful day. Many people, tourists and locals had also chosen that day to visit the Tower of Pisa.
Colin laid the blanket onto the floor and helped them sit down, a smirk rose. “I could get used to this treatment”. Colin kissed them, a rush went through them. The freedom to kiss him without worry was intoxicating.
“Wait until we return to London” he said, laying down with his head in their lap. They went on to play with his brown hair.
“How will we even explain? Both our families would have the news by now.” They said worriedly.
“We’re married now and that can’t be undone. Certainly not after last night” he laughed. They laughed too, playfully hitting his chest.
“We ran away. I was my Aunt's heir and you’re a Bridgeton! The rumours will be impossible to escape” they said.
“So we never return?” He asked.
“Even if we don’t they would just find us” they sighed. He sat up and kissed them again.
“What about a life on the run? We changed our names and live free?”
They raised their eyebrows, “neither of us can live without our comforts. Sallow as it is, I like my life and I don’t want to live anything else”.
He put himself back into their lap, “thank god. I regretted the words the moment I spoke them” he smiled shyly.
“What would life be like then? Back in London” you asked.
“Our own home, we could stay in the summer house” Colin suggested. “Parties every week, tea on the lawn, days in bed without a care in the world”.
“Summer tours each year” you grinned.
“So much to see so much time”.
“And I get to spend it all with you, what could be more perfect?”.

How different dhmis teachers react to you asking them on a date & what they are like as you date them:
I'm bored and hyperfixated and I need words for NaNoWriMo.
cw: some mentions of alcohol (Time Child), obsessive and controlling behavior (Warren), and implied depression (Unemployed Brendon)
Warren the Eagle:
-Warren seems shocked at first, taken aback by your advances when he wasn't even sure you wanted to be his friend. -Hearing this, you feel a bit bad that he hadn't realized you two were friends, but as you say that to him, he starts to panic a little, thinking he's upset you. (And he really REALLY doesn't want you to change your mind) -You pull him into a hug, and it only takes half a millisecond before he is holding you back tight. -"Yes!! Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES!" He holds you tight and you can't quite back away now, so you just melt into the hug, letting him tell you all about how excited he is. -As a boyfriend, he is obsessive and no small amount of jealous. -If you don't really have anyone else, he will happily take up every waking moment you have. -He has major insomnia and may end up watching you sleep, but only when you already know that he's spending the night. -If you do have people you care about and want to spend time with (whether family or friends) when he isn't there, he'll be too afraid of losing you to outright tell you that you can't do it, but he WILL guilt you and if you do happen to fall in love with him, he will get under your skin. -If you get involved with him, its best to involve him. If the people in your life can stand him long enough to get to know him, your relationship will go a lot smoother. -This guy is also a MASSIVE cuddler and very big on public displays of effection.
Colin the Computer:
-Colin was surprised by the question, but it's sort of hard to tell from the way that he responds. -He considers it and for a moment, you think he's going to say no, but really his mind is seven steps ahead and he is looking up places that would be fun to go to, while also not being too awkward for a first date. -When he finally speaks, it's to tell you that he's found live music festival at a park near you. There's dancing and food and it'll be a ton of fun! -You feel your heart swell with joy, your face getting hot. -If you aren't so sure about how well you dance, he is determined to teach you. To him, as long as you're close, any dancing is going to be perfect. -As a boyfriend, he is a lot of fun but rather energetic. -How close you are will determine how much physical contact there will be between you, so don't expect kisses on the first date, unless you have been friends for a good while. -Once you've dated for a while, he will ALWAYS be wanting to hold hands though. -He is SO much fun, if you're an extravert. -He's an introverted extravert, though. So don't worry too much if you aren't, he'll always want to recharge his own batteries at home too.
The Briefcase (Lucky Mo):
-Mo is all business when it comes to dating. He is dating to find someone to marry. Family means a lot, but he doesn't actually want children. -If you're rude to his brother, he is probably going to reject you immediately. -But if you don't encourage his brother or are unmotivated by the concept of working yourself, he's also probably going to reject you as well, though he will always encourage you to 'try harder', even as a friend. -If you have a job (whether or not you actually love it) and try to stay positive for Brendon, Mo will be a very encouraging lover and will want to go on as many dates as possible, as long as it works out around your schedules. -He's a very loyal boyfriend, dependable and encouraging. -He can be boring if you aren't proactive in finding things to do though, so be ready to make most of the choices for movie nights and where you go out to eat etc.
Unemployed Brendon:
-Brendon isn't sure what to say when you ask him out. -He's not used to people who love him for who he IS, rather than who he could be. -Yes, you will probably have to read his novel and if you didn't know it already, it's very sad with a very bittersweet ending. -You'll actually be surprised by how well written it is though and wonder where on Earth he got his inspiration from. He doesn't seem to want to talk about it though. -As a boyfriend, he is a bit of a nervous wreck, especially in the beginning. He doubts himself a lot, his ability, his life choices and most of all… if he is worthy of love at all. -His relationships with his parents are in tatters and his brother just keeps pushing and pushing him to do better. -His brother believes in him and while you can see the love behind it, you can also see the way that the stress of never being good enough wears down on Brendon… -But he loves you a ton, very fast. He's not as obsessive and jealous as Warren is, but he will always want to be around you. -He doesn't intentionally guilt you, but you know he can't help but feel like you're 'embarrassed' by him, if you don't take him places with you. -If you can encourage him to go to therapy, you'd actually have a healthy, loving relationship with Brendon. -You're paying for the therapy though. -And pretty much everything else.
Electracey:
-When you ask 'Tracey on a date, she had sorta been under the assumption you were either already dating or on a date, at the very least. -So she just continues conversing about whatever she had been thinking about, because of COURSE she wants to go on a date with you, silly! -She'll take you on walks through cities or late night parties in the city when everything is lit up, particularly in the summer. -Lots of life and energy comes with Tracey. -She's sort of a combination of Colin and Mo, in that she has all sorts of energy and loves to do things (she also has a great sense of humor), but she is also much less touchy than Colin and working with the electric company, she has a steady income to do just about anything. -The downside to Tracey is that she ALWAYS has energy. -She is extremely outgoing and she is a definite extrovert. -Don't expect 'downtime' with Tracey. She's up and out of the door early for a jog and likes to party hard on weekends. -She's the sort that will invite friends over for dinner on a work night, but the friends don't even show up until 8:00pm and you have to be up at 6:00am. -She's also not particularly tactile, so while she loves kisses and hugs, she's not really going to be holding your hand everywhere, or wrapping her arms around you while waiting for the bus. -Then again, she thinks you're super cool even on days you don't like yourself and she can SHRED on that guitar, so it all equals out, yeah?
Time-Child:
-It's less that you've asked them on a date and more that you found yourself on a date, unsure of where. -You only realize its a date, when T.C. wraps an arm around your waist pulls you into the VIP section of a very loud, very colorful club, introducing you to the bouncer as their date. -It's a TON of fun, but by the end of the night, you're exhausted and ready to go home and T.C. just sort of drops you off and goes back to the club and you're left kinda wondering what happened and why they thought to bring you at all. -They kinda leave you on read for a few weeks, until they show up on a long weekend, wanting to party again. -This is going to keep going until you make yourself less fun to hang out with. Oh well, looks like you're stuck with them!

Baby Makes Three // C.B.
Request: hello and congratulations on 7k followers!! 🥳🥳 could i please request “i didn't want to tell you until i was sure, but... i'm pregnant.“ from the sacred romantic moments prompts for colin bridgerton? thank you so so much!!! 💗💗 - @flowercrowns-goodvibes
A/N: Thank you so much for the request, and for being so patient with me!
Warnings: pregnancy, female reader, mentions of children and babies, female typical titles, established relationship, married couple, lots of fluff - so much fluff, dialogue heavy, a mention of alcohol, humour
Word count: 1063
Tumblr media
There were many words that Colin Bridgerton could use to describe himself: funny, handsome, adventurous. However, the one he uses the most right now is: content.
He’s content in every factor of his life. His family are all happy in their individual ways; his mother filling the role of the adoring and devoted grandmother as if she were made for it, and his siblings carving out their own path for themselves as he did for himself shortly before he met you.
Colin was most content when he was with you. There were no pretences, no falsities. With you, he could be the version of himself that he liked the most, and that was what counted to him.
It was this version of himself that had him stopping at the florist, putting together a bouquet of your favourite flowers that were in bloom. Colin would be the first to admit that he was over heels in love with you. Married for just under a year, Colin’s heart still raced when his eyes landed on you every morning, stupefied at the fact that he gets to spend an eternity by your side. Loving you, holding you, being there for you – a finer purpose he could not find on this earth.
With the finest flowers in all of London in hand, Colin continues his walk back to the home he shares with you. He hadn’t wanted to leave you since you weren’t feeling too well – nauseous and dizzy - but had some pressing matters at his publishers that could not go unattended to. Colin could only be relieved when the matters didn’t take too long to resolve.
His contentment quickly turns to worry as he spies a carriage pulling away from the curb outside of the home he shares with you. Bouquet gripped tightly in his hand, Colin presses forward, all but running to his front door.
The house is silent upon his entry. He drops the flowers onto the entryway table, not giving them a second thought as he takes the stairs two at a time to the bedroom where he knows you’ll be.
Colin refuses to think. He doesn’t want to think of the countless reasons for Dr. Ward’s visit. Colin could only kick himself for leaving you this morning; he should have argued more, but the reassuring kiss you had given him had fooled him into think that you were alright, that nothing was wrong more than an upset stomach that could have a thousand causes.
“Darling?” Colin calls, his tone giving away his concern. “I’ve just seen Dr. Ward leave in his carriage. Is everything okay? Are you okay?”
You greet your beloved husband with a small smile, not missing the worried look in his eye. Coming forward to meet him, you press a hand to his cheek, your thumb across his cheekbone in a comforting motion. “Take a breath, my love. Everything’s fine… I think.”
“You think?”
“It all depends on your reaction if truth be told.”
“I need you to tell me now before my mind starts conjuring up the worst ideas imaginable.”
You take a deep breath, holding the blue-eyed stare of the man you so wholly adore with every fibre of your being. “I didn't want to tell you until I was sure, but... I’m pregnant.”
“Pregnant?” Colin repeats, his legs giving out from under him as he sits back onto the bed. “You’re sure?”
You nod, a hand slipping down to cradle the bottom of your torso. “Very sure. Dr. Ward checked everything twice.”
“But how?” Colin murmurs, more to himself than to you.
“Colin Bridgerton!” You gasp, a laugh escaping you. “If you want the finer details of such an act, you can go and offer the good doctor some whiskey!”
A startled laugh leaves Colin before that laugh turns into something greater. Unadulterated joy seeps through him filling every single nook and cranny until there’s room for no more. “I’m going to be a father!” He crows, rushing to his feet. “I’m going to be a dad.”
“You’re not upset?” You ask somewhat timidly.
“Why on earth would you think I’d be upset?”
You begin to pace back and forth, wringing your fingers together as you start to explain. “We haven’t been married long, Colin. Barely a year. We’d never truly discussed the idea of children; we just knew that they would happen one day. I wasn’t sure whether you wanted to wait a while before we began trying for children, and I didn’t know whether I wanted to simply enjoy my time with you before we needed to start thinking of children.” You take a deep breath, steadying yourself, “But here we are.”
“Here we are,” Colin whispers, mystified as he takes sight of the barely there bump. “We’re going to parents, darling.”
“In five short months, we are.”
“You’re already that far along?”
“So it seems,” You smile, a breathy laugh leaving you as your hand flattens against your stomach. “Do you want to feel?”
“I thought you’d never ask,” Colin states in a single rushed breath, dropping to his knees before you as he gently places a hand to your lower stomach, feeling the small bump that has only just begun to show. “You and me and baby make three,” Colin whispers, his nose pressing to thin fabric of your dress.
Colin pulls away, tears lining his eyes as he takes in the news of the morning. He’s much relieved to see tears shining in your eyes when he gathers the courage to meet your stare. “I never knew I could feel so happy,” Colin whispers, coming to his feet and gathering you in his arms. “I thought I’d reached the peak of my happiness on our wedding day, but here I am, being proven wrong, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
“Oh Colin,” You sniff, hiding your face in his chest. “You always know exactly what to say.”
Colin chuckles. His arms wrap around you tighter; rocking you both slightly from side to side as you press your face into his chest. Colin Bridgerton could use many words to describe himself; content had been the latest and the most accurate to date. However, after the news of the morning, and the feel of the love of his life in his arms, he feels that the word ‘elated’ holds much more significance.

Tired of the Temporary
Summary: You lost your beloved cat, Mavis. Your gorgeous neighbor is there to comfort you, and although you adore him, you don’t want to be another notch. Is he tired of temporary?
Colin Shea x Reader (You)
Word Count: 5,973
Tumblr media
A/N: As always, thank you so much to @peyton-warren who always cheers me on. I was blocked by my own grief, hopefully this will allow me to continue on.
This is purely a comfort piece for me as I just lost my sweet cat unexpectedly. Colin is one of my comfort characters, so I hope anyone else who needs comfort can find it here 💙
Warnings: Pet death, euthanasia, angst-so much angst, Fluffy ending
It had all happened so fast. You’d just woken up, your sweet cat curled up next to you. She chuffed when you moved, irritated at the interruption to her beauty sleep. Mavis stood up and stretched, her two front paws stretched out in front of her, her back end in the air, yawning wide before she jumped off the bed.
You threw your covers back and made your way to the bathroom, then into the kitchen to feed Mavis who was already standing and meowing at the cabinet where you stored her food. She sat down, looking at you expectantly, and you were pretty sure if she could talk, you’d be getting an earful. You stopped to pat her head, always loving her purr while eating.
You made your way back to the bathroom to shower and get your morning started. This was your one day off this week and you’d made plans to hang out with Colin, your very handsome man whore of a neighbor. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t have feelings for him, the two of you spending more and more time together, but you were also wary. You’d seen the revolving door of women, you didn’t want to be just another one night stand, so you kept your feelings to yourself and your heart out of reach.
You’d just turned off the water, your thoughts running through your mental checklist as you got dressed when you heard Mavis yowl. You quickly threw on your hoodie and jeans, running out to the living room. Your heart dropped when you saw her, unable to stand no matter how hard she tried, her cries alerting you to her excruciating pain.
“Mavis?!” you yelled, dropping to your knees next to her, checking for any obvious signs of trauma or injury. When you got to her hind legs, you immediately noticed the limpness, the temperature cooler than the rest of her body. You knew what this was, she’d thrown a clot called a Saddle Thrombosis, a fancy way of saying a clot that paralyzes.
Time was of the essence, you knew as you scooped her up carefully, cradling her in your arms as you whispered she would be okay. Thankfully you didn’t live too far from the veterinary clinic you worked at, a five minute drive at the most, even shorter as you ran red lights. You pulled to a screeching stop, barely shutting your door as you ran into the clinic, Mavis having gone frightfully still.
You ran past the reception area directly into the back treatment room, calling for the doctor. You placed Mavis on the treatment table and moved to grab the emergency supply kit when the doctor came in, followed by the other two veterinary techs on duty. You pulled out the supplies to place an IV catheter, tearing the tape as you went.
“What happened?” Doctor Yang said as she made her way to the treatment table, gently pulling you back and out of the way so she and the techs could work. You explained everything to her, not even realizing you had started crying until you felt a tear hit your hand, a prequel to the tornado about to rip your world apart.
“I need you to go to a room and let us work,” Yang said gently as she palpated Mavis’ spine to evaluate where she was hurting and where the paralysis began. You knew she was right, you were too close to this, there was nothing you could do while you were blinded by your emotions. You silently left the treatment area and made your way to the waiting room.
After what felt like an eternity, Dr. Yang made her way to the waiting room, her face somber, a face you’d seen many times, the face she made when she had to deliver a terminal diagnosis or heartbreaking news. Yang had gotten only as far as apologizing before you dropped to your knees. You heard a keen wail, not realizing you were hearing yourself.
“I’m so sorry, she isn’t going to make it. You know I will do whatever you want, but you know the odds of her surviving after throwing a clot this large are very slim,” Yang said. “I need to know what you want to do here. If you want us to try, I need to get back there now.” Yang gently squeezed your shoulder, bringing you back to reality. As you stared into her face, looking for any direction, you knew what you needed to do. You told Yang your decision, compassion crossing the woman’s face.
You were led to the euthanasia room to wait for Mavis, your final goodby looming over the horizon. You’d thought about this day for so long, wondering how you would feel, how much it would hurt, wondering if you’d ever be able to love another cat the way you loved her. The door opened as Dr. Yang entered with the two other techs in tow, and the receptionist.
“We closed the clinic,” the receptionist, Julia, told you as her eyes filled with tears. “You need friends, and we need to say goodbye too. We all love Mavis so much.” Everyone nodded in agreement as the new tech, you weren’t too sure of her name, placed Mavis in your lap, wrapped in a warm blanket.
“We already gave her the pre med in the back,” Yang said softly as she flushed the IV with saline. You cried harder, kissing Mavis on the head and telling her over and over how much you loved her, how it was okay for her to go, how you would never forget her while the doc administered the medication to stop the heart. You cried harder, your sobs eching through the room, Yang nodding to confirm she was gone.
Everyone in the room was sobbing, and slowly one by one, they all left until it was just you. You kept holding Mavis, telling her how good she was, telling her over and over how much you loved her. After about an hour, you pushed the button to alert the front desk that you were done and they could come and take Mavis.
You weren’t sure how you made it home, the drive was a blur and done completely by muscle memory. You couldn’t stop crying, your eyes expressing a sorrow you’d never felt before, a piece of your soul ripped from your existence. You weren’t sure how you managed to get into your apartment, your tears streaming endlessly. You kicked off your shoes, not even bothering to change, and went straight to your bed to lay down, pulling your duvet over your head. Your tears dampened your pillow, catching every moment of sorrow.
You weren’t sure when you fell asleep or what woke you up, however you looked around confused wondering if it was all a horrible nightmare. You sat up and looked around, calling for Mavis with all of the hope you could muster, collapsing back into your grief at the realization you wouldn’t be waking up from this nightmare.
You slid even further down your bed, pulling your covers over your head as you sobbed, your heart shattered.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Mavis and you had found each other at very difficult times, you having just lost your mother, Mavis having lost hers also. You’d heard the tiny cries, following the sound to a tiny kitten, hungry and scared.
You took her with you, with the intention of taking her to a shelter as you weren’t sure you had the emotional capacity to care for another living creature, but you’d have to take care of her over the long weekend. You put your tiny friend in your purse, got back into your car to get some supplies.
You stocked up on wet food and kitten milk as she couldn’t have been older than three weeks, along with a litter box, and lots of toys. You heard the tiny cries as you made your way home, and held her as you set up her little spot with a heating pad, litterbox, toys, and blankets. You tried to put her down to make her a bottle, her tiny cries breaking your heart.
After she had her bottle and you did the dirty job of helping her use the bathroom, you put her down on the heating pad and covered her with blankets, moving to your bed, exhausted but sure you wouldn’t sleep. You’d buried your mother today, and now here you were, taking care of a baby kitten, a baby kitten who wouldn’t stop crying.
“Alright, alright little one,” you cooed as you made your way over to her, too exhausted to listen to her cry all night. You scooped her up, wrapped her in two blankets to maintain her body heat, and moved her to the bed with you. You placed her on your chest, her tiny purrs immediately relaxing you. You smiled as you felt her tiny paws making biscuits in the blankets, her purrs getting louder.
“So, you’re stuck with me for a few days,” you told her softly, her purrs seeming to grow in response. “What should we call you? Kitten? Cat? Little one?” You felt her climb up your chest, curling up in your neck under your hair. You pulled the blanket up to cover her, pulling out your phone to find a movie as you felt her breath even out, her purrs slowing.
You decided on a show you had just recently found, Gravity Falls, a supernatural cartoon you wish you’d had growing up. As the twins, Mabel and Dipper popped up, the name came to you, a name you’d always loved: Mavis.
“What do you think, Mavis? Is that your name?” you asked the tiny creature, a tiny chirp followed by a yawn your answer. Mavis it was then. You fell asleep like this, Mavis curled up, in your neck, your phone on your face still playing. It had been days since you last slept, but tonight, you found a comfort you never thought you’d experience again.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The next time you opened your eyes, you heard the TV in your living room playing softly, the scent of your favorite food flooding your senses. You sat up, your head throbbing from the crying, your eyes puffy and sore, and stretched, wrapped your blanket around you and made your way to the living room.
“Hey, I didn’t mean to wake you,” Colin said quietly as he handed you some ibuprofen and water, anticipating your needs before you even thought of it. You gratefully took the medicine, gulping down the water in just a few swallows, not realizing how thirsty you were.
You looked at Colin, his eyes filled with concern and sorrow, and you knew he found out. “Who told you?” you asked, your voice raspy and raw from sobbing as you felt the tears well up again. The last thing you wanted to do was have this gorgeous man look at you the way he was now; you hated anyone seeing you emotional, never wanting to seem weak. With Colin, you didn’t want to stop the thing before it even started.
“I stopped by the clinic to grab Mavis some of her favorite treats and Janice told me,” he said softly as he dropped down next to you on the couch, his arm instantly around your shoulder pulling you to rest your head on his chest, his other arm around you playing with your hair as he whispered softly to you that it was okay, to let it out, and that he wasn’t going anywhere.
As the tears started to slow, you lifted your head and saw Colin shedding tears of his own. You reached up to his face, wiped his tears away, and gently kissed his cheek as the two of you sat quietly in your grief.
“I remember the first time I met her, she was so cranky and mean," Colin said, his hand still softly playing with your hair as his other hand moved soothingly up and down your arm. You chuckled softly as you recalled that day also, your first glimpse of a very naked Colin, heading by your door as you brought some more boxes in from downstairs.
Colin stopped and smiled, covering the good parts with a dish towel while he ate an apple. “Hey, you must be new!” Colin said, pulling the towel up to wipe the corner of his mouth. "I’m Colin, I live right across from you-oh shit.” Colin opened your door and dashed in as you watched with your mouth open.
“Hey!” you yelled as you dropped the box and moved to open your door just as your naked neighbor’s front door opened with an equally naked woman standing in the doorway. You closed your mouth which was catching flies at all of the porn you’d managed to see in the last ten minutes, trying to look everywhere except this woman’s perfect tits. God damn, how was it fair to even look like that? You suddenly felt very self conscious as you stood there in a baggy t-shirt and shorts covered in cat hair, your hair in a messy pile on your head.
“Oh hey,” the woman said as she stood with everything out, very comfortable with her body. You’d kill to look like this woman, but right now, you’d settle for a bra and some shorts. “Have you seen a guy, I think his name is Coleman, Callum, no that’s not right either. Oh! COLIN! That’s his name. Have you seen Colin anywhere?”
“Can’t say that I have, sorry,” you mumbled as you turned and made your way to the front door. You heard the supermodel grumble and retreat back inside. You cleared your throat and balanced the box the best you could while trying to turn the door knob, cursing the rudeness of your uninvited guest, no matter how tight his ass was.
“Whoa, whoa,” you heard Colin say as you heard Mavis hissing at him. “Good cat, kitty, kitten, whatever you prefer, I’m not going to hurt you,” Colin said softly from the corner, the towel covering his dangly bits from your fierce, tiny cat. You watched with amusement as Mavis swatted at the bottom of the towel, growling and hissing again. “Little help?” you heard from a distressed Colin, the entire scene causing you to erupt in laughter.
You walked over to your girl, scooped her up, her body instantly relaxing at your touch. Her purr revved up as you pet her head, telling her she was the absolute best guard cat in the world. You heard Colin grumble and grouse from your couch, finally free to move about. You reminded him of the tiny fact that he had broken into your house, and Mavis was free to protect her territory.
“So…” you awkwardly began, trying to avert your gaze and look at anything besides his bottom half, a slight heat creeping up the back of your neck. “Do you like cheese?” you asked, mentally kicking yourself as soon as the words left your mouth. You were so shy and introverted, small talk was hard for you.
You both heard the door across the hall open and close as Colin’s guest yelled a not so nice goodbye as she left. Colin stood, thanking you for letting him hide, never answering what his favorite cheese was, and made his way across the hall. You went back to unpacking, chastising yourself as you worked, reminding yourself that this is why you didn’t have many friends.
A sudden knock on your door caused you to jump as you were lost in your thoughts, and you were surprised to see Colin standing there with more boxes. You opened the door to let him in, thanking him but reminding him he didn’t need to do this if he had other plans.
“It’s no trouble. It’s my day off and I am going to make friends with your psycho demon cat if it takes all year,” he said, holding out his hand to pet Mavis as she made her way into the living room and sat at your feet. She lulled him in with a false sense of security, hissing and swiping at his hand at the very last second, then cleaning the paw that had touched the offensive object while Colin cursed under his breath. You laughed and handed him a paper towel, your laugh bubbling to the surface of your shy demeanor.
“You don’t know much about cats, do ya?” you chided as you moved to the box of Mavis’ things and grabbed out her favorite catnip treats and toy mouse, and handed them to Colin. “Here, hold this out and let her come to you. Let her sniff you and get used to your scent. Once she accepts you and the treat, go ahead and hand her her favorite toy.”
Colin did exactly as you said, smiling like a little boy on Christmas when Mavis finally ate the treat out of his hand and took her mouse. She played on the floor a little bit defore laying on her back and offering her belly to Colin. Before you could warn him about the belly trap, Mavis grabbed onto his arm with all four paws, bunny kicking his arm with her two back feet, and holding his hand hostage with her front paws while she bit him playfully, not hard enough to break skin.
You laughed at his face of surprise, then laughter as he played with your grumpy little lady. Unbeknownst to you or Mavis, Colin Shea found you fascinating, something he had never felt before, preferring to keep everything casual because it was easier. But at that moment, Colin Shea knew he was in trouble and his life wouldn’t be the same, scared this would destroy him in the end.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
“She wanted to eat you,” you said through your laughter as you moved your head off of Colin’s chest to look up at him, finding his eyes already on yours, his shoulders shaking with laughter at the memory. “Then when she tricked you into thinking you could pat her belly.”
Your laughter stopped as your body was wracked with sobs. “I failed her, I didn’t do enough, I didn’t get her there fast enough,” you said, finally vocalizing your grief, your guilt, your anger. “I should have had them try, I killed her. How could I miss what was happening?” you continued, your breaths becoming shallow as you found it harder and harder to breathe, the oxygen thick with your sorrow.
“Mavis loved you, she knows how much you loved her. You gave her everything.” Colin held you as you cried, trying to soothe your broken heart and soul. “She knew you would have done anything to save her, but she also trusted you to make the most difficult decision if you couldn’t.” Colin let you cry, rocking you back and forth comforting you the best he could.
As you calmed and your tears started to dry, you heard your stomach growl, the smell of your favorite food wafting into the living room. Colin laughed, and you grumbled as you chastised your stomach for embarrassing you.
Colin stood to grab plates for you both, leaving you on the couch, already missing his warmth as you wrapped your blanket tighter around you. You asked how he knew what your favorite food was, completely shocked at his answer.
“You told me last month We were up on the roof, you’d had a bad day, so we set up the inflatable sumo suits and drank between rounds.” Colin said as if his remembering anything you’d said to him was an everyday occurrence. You’d never had anyone really listen to you, no one ever cared enough to listen.
“You remember that?” you asked as you took a bite of the plate Colin set in front of you, your hunger taking over as you realized you hadn’t eaten since yesterday. Colin looked over at you, then back at the television, trying to find something for the two of you to watch.
“Of course I do, I remember everything we talk about.” Colin settled on DareDevil, a show you’d recently started watching together as you introduced him to the MCU. He continued staring at the screen, pretending he didn’t see the soft smile that crossed your face as you continued eating. Once you’d finished, you leaned your head on Colin’s shoulder, and before you knew it, you’d fallen asleep.
Colin looked down, pushing a piece of hair out of your face and tucking it behind your ear, and kissed you softly on the forehead. You smiled and sighed, snuggling even deeper into Colin’s arms, his head resting on yours as he made sure you were covered, falling asleep quickly.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
You opened your eyes, confused for a moment as you weren’t in your bedroom. You felt movement behind you, forgetting that Colin had come over last night. You screamed, falling on the floor when Colin moved his hand around your waist to pull you in closer.
“What the hell?” Colin said as he sat up quickly, sleep written all over his face as he stared at you on the floor. “Are you okay?” he asked, slightly confused as he helped you off the ground. You hopped up, your face and neck hot with embarrassment as you sat back down on the couch, unable to meet Colin’s gaze.
“I’m, I’m fine. So-sorry. I forgot where I was for a second and when you moved you scared me, and I guess I fell….and now I’m rambling.” You shook your head as Colin laughed, completely humiliated by your reaction. Had it really been that long since you’d felt someone touch you? And if you were being utterly honest with yourself, you liked the way Colin felt. His touch made you feel safe enough to cry, to fall asleep, to just be yourself.
“Hey, it’s okay. You fell asleep right after we started the show, not even Matt Murdock could keep you awake.” Colin stood and stretched, turned to use your bathroom, and you couldn’t help yourself, your gaze landing on his perfect ass, one of your favorite sights.
You shook your head, trying to tell yourself Colin didn’t like you in that way, not the way you cared for him. He was your friend, he was there for you during hard times, but you knew his feelings about commitment, you were witness to his many different women. That’s why you kept your distance.
You started some breakfast, eggs, bacon, and toast, for the two of you. You didn’t have work today, your boss had given you the rest of the week and weekend off so you could mourn in private. Colin made his way in, coming behind you to steal a piece of bacon you’d just grabbed.
“Hey! Jerk. I made you some right here!” you grumbled, slapping Colin on the chest as you made your way to the living room with both plates. “Can you grab the hot sauce, utensils, and juice please?” you asked, as you grabbed the remote to start your show all over again.
Colin set all of the requested items down before you had even started the show, having grabbed everything and followed right behind you. Damn it, if he could just let someone stay more than one night, he’d be such a good boyfriend, you thought.
“You’re staring again,” Colin said, his eyes never leaving the screen as Matt and Foggy flashed into view. You dropped your eyes, mortified he had caught you. Again. You were thinking of some reason to have been caught when you heard your phone ringing in the bedroom.
You ran to answer it, tears forming by the end of your conversation. It was your boss calling to let you know Mavis had been a special cat, so she was sent for cremation and was back at the clinic for you to pick up. You thanked your boss, telling her you’d be there to get her shortly. You were so lost in your tears, you hadn’t heard Colin come in and sit beside you on the bed. You immediately leaned in, seeking the warmth and comfort of his embrace and let your tears go.
Colin offered to drive you to the veterinary hospital, which you gratefully accepted. The ride was quiet, and before you knew it, you were parked in front. Colin asked if you wanted him to go in with you, but you declined knowing this was something you needed to do on your own.
You came back to the car a few minutes later, a small urn clutched tightly to your chest, your sobs wracking your entire body. You felt Colin’s hand on your thigh as you drove back, but you were so lost in your head. You weren’t even aware of pulling into the parking lot or even making your way upstairs.
You laid down in bed, Mavis on the nightstand, and pulled the blankets over your head again, your place to hide from the world. You fell into a restless sleep, your dreams plagued with guilt over Mavis and your inability to save her. You woke from a particularly rough nightmare, and threw your blankets off, feeling suffocated under the weight of your feelings.
You dropped to the floor, panting with sweat running down your face mixed with your tears. You heard your door open, but didn’t register Colin was there until he made you look at him to regulate your breathing. Colin was trying to ground you as you were in the middle of an anxiety attack. The ringing in your ears finally softened to a dull noise, your tears finally slowed, and your breathing was back to normal, your breaths in and out matching Colin.
“There you go, that’s it. Keep doing that.” Colin moved beside you, his arm around your shoulder as he kissed your forehead so softly you weren’t even sure you had felt it. Once you’d finally calmed down, you allowed Colin to put you back into bed. He covered you up, then moved to lay behind you as you fell back asleep, safe and warm in his arms.
You woke up to find your bed empty and cold, Colin no longer behind you. You stood up and made your way to the bathroom, stepping into a hot shower and brushing your teeth. Once you finally felt a little human again, you dressed and made your way out to the living room.
You weren’t sure what you were expecting, but you found yourself disappointed when Colin was nowhere to be found. Not that you could blame him, though. You’d broken down in front of him more than once, and if he wasn’t completely sure he wasn’t the commitment type, you would definitely be the one to prove his point.
You grabbed some water and ibuprofen and made your way back to your room. You gulped down the glass along with three pills when you noticed it. The urn was gone. You dropped your glass, not caring when it shattered beneath your feet. You looked all over, only stopping when you heard your front door open.
“Hey, what are you doing awake?” Colin asked as he made his way into your room, takeout bags in his hand. He made his way next to you, stopping when he saw the broken glass on the floor. “Shit, don’t move, let me clean this up.” Colin left, returning with a broom and dustpan.
“Mavis, I can’t find Mavis,” you said as you looked around your room and on the nightstand again. “I know I left her here, I was asleep, you were here and then you weren’t…” you mumbled, rambling as you tried to think of anywhere the urn could have gone.
“I’m sorry about leaving like that, I had something I wanted to surprise you with,” Colin said as he continued sweeping the shards of glass. “I grabbed Mavis, I wanted to sur…”
“Why the hell would you take her?” you yelled, anger rushing over every fiber of your being at what you’d just heard. “You had absolutely no right!”
Colin stopped, startled at the sudden rage in your voice. “I didn’t mean any harm, I wanted to…” You stopped him, fury taking over every rational part of your demeanor.
“You had no right to take her while I was sleeping. What were you thinking? How on earth did you assume this would be a good idea? Just when I start letting my guard down around you, just when I think you’re someone I could absolutely let in, you go and do something like this. Get out.”
“Just let me show you what I am doing,” Colin said as he pulled his phone out to show you something. “You’re going to love it, and I promise to bring Mavis back when I’m done.”
“Just get the fuck out. I don’t want to see it, I don’t want to see you! You betrayed my trust, took the one thing that matters to me right now.” You turned and locked yourself in your bathroom, collapsing onto the floor. Your heart shattered even more, knowing Colin hadn’t meant any harm, yet you unleashed all of your anger and sorrow onto him, keeping him at arm's length.
You waited in the bathroom, eventually falling asleep on the floor, waking only when your back and legs started to cramp up. You stood and moved to your bed, covering your face and head again, not wanting to see the empty nightstand. You also missed the warmth behind you, the strong arms that held you while you cried, but it was better this way.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
You spent the rest of your time off in bed, only leaving it to use the bathroom. You’d been awakened by knocking on your door the first couple of days, but you didn’t answer, choosing to hide away. Eventually the knocking stopped, and you weren’t sure if you were relieved or sad.
Monday came around too quickly, but you forced yourself up and made your way to the bathroom. You showered and dressed, unsure how you were going to make it through this day, but knowing you couldn’t hide any longer.
Your day was a blur, full of routine and muscle memory. You smiled when you had to, laughed when it was expected, and left looking cheerful and happy. You weren’t but you definitely faked it until you made it.
You pulled into your parking spot at home, sitting in your car for a few minutes to let the weight of the day fall away from you, exhausted and emotionally drained. You made your way inside and up the stairs where you saw a small package in front of your door. You stopped as you saw the small urn next to it, and dropped down to get a better look.
The urn was Mavis, and it had a small nameplate and picture of her added to the urn. Next you opened the small box, finding a beautiful necklace which looked like the cosmos swirled with the brightest strip of stars ever seen. You pulled the chain out to get a closer look when you saw the small insert in familiar handwriting.
This is a small charm made from some of Mavis’ ashes, this way you always have her with you. I”m sorry I broke your trust or hurt you, that wasn’t my intent. I just wanted you to have a piece of her always. -Colin
You hung your head in shame, fully realizing just how awful you had been to this man, this man who just wanted to make you happy. You took a deep breath and swallowed your pride as you made your way over to Colin’s door and knocked.
“Colin?” you called, waiting a few seconds before knocking again. “Colin, I know I was horrible to you, please open the door?” You waited again, sighing as you started to turn away before stopping. “I need to say this, and I don’t know if I will have the courage again, so please listen. I am so sorry. I was wrong and mean, I took all of my anger and grief out on you, you didn’t deserve it at all. You were nothing but amazing to me, and I am sorry. This is beautiful, but I can’t accept it. I don’t deserve this.”
“Yes you do,” you heard from behind you. You jumped, turning to see Colin leaning against the wall, his hands in his pockets. He smiled his crooked little smirk, the one that always made your heart race, his bright blue eyes focused on you.
“So, did you hear all of that or do I need to start all over again?” you asked, embarrassment creeping up your neck and face. You weren’t good at this, sharing and apologizing, and you were really hoping he’d heard it all.
“I heard it, and you don’t owe me any apologies. I’m sorry I worried you, I’m sorry I hurt you at all. I just wanted to surprise you with something to see that smile I’ve come to adore so much.” You stared at Colin in shock, not quite believing your ears.
“What do you mean? You don’t adore me, you don’t do relationships, remember?” you said, confusion written all over. You wanted this to be true, there is nothing you wanted more but you knew about his liaisons, and you weren’t going to be just another notch.
“I didn’t, but then I met this really quiet and shy neighbor who let me hide out in her apartment the first time I met her, and from there, I stopped being interested in the temporary.” Colin started walking towards you as he continued. “We started spending a lot of time together and I finally realized what I truly wanted. So, the endless parade of women stopped, and I started spending all of my time with her.”
You looked up, trying to remember the last time you’d seen anyone come out of Colin’s apartment, realizing there hadn’t been a woman in months. “You want me?” you asked, waiting to hear him finally say the words.
“I want you,” Colin said as he grabbed your face and pulled you in for a kiss. This was by far the most amazing kiss you’d ever had, his lips soft and sweet, his tongue gentle as he waited for you to allow him access.
You pulled away, the both of you breathless and flushed. “You’re sure this is what you want?” you asked, your uncertainty taking hold as you looked up at this man, the one you’ve wanted for so long.
“I’ve never been so sure about anything before.” He pulled you into his chest, holding you tightly. As you melted into his touch, you felt his hands move lower until your ass was placed perfectly in his grasp.
“And there he is, there’s the Colin I know,” you said, laughter bubbling up as you smacked his hands away. He looked at you, that sexy sideways smirk on his face.
“Hey, this is all just for you now,” he said as he gestured up and down his body. “I never said anything about being chaste, only that you were now the only victim of my hormones.” You laughed and kissed him again, softly and slowly, fully enjoying your new life.
You would swear you saw and heard fireworks if anyone ever asked, but for once, you finally allowed yourself to live in the moment. You weren’t sure if this would last, but if every day with Colin was like they had been, you were damn sure going to try.

Congrats on 10K!! I love your writing!
🎀 Colin Bridgerton with a soulmate au?
A/n:THANK YOU, also yay! I haven’t written for this boy in ages. Also I’m so sorry, it’s 6am!
At birth, you're born with two eye colors: one is your natural eyes, and the other is the eye of your soulmate. When you meet, your eyes return to their natural state.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’ve always heard from your parents that would find true love one day…true love like they had. Yet whenever you looked into the mirror you couldn’t help but feel doubt spread through you seeing one hazel eye stair back. “Who are you?”
-
Nervously looking around the ballroom it was hard to ignore the few couples with eyes of their natural state. You were starting to wonder if it was a mistake showing up at the ball. Keeping your head hung low you started to make your way towards the balcony until you felt a body slam into yours.
“I’m terribly sorry.”
You recognized that voice, it belonged to one Colin Bridgerton. You’ve never meet him face to face but you have heard of his reputation. Keeping your head low you quickly shook your head. “it’s quite alright.”
“May I at least see your face?”
Biting your inner cheek you slowly rose your gaze too meet his only to feel your heart start to race. Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion, you watched as the { e/c} slowly change into his natural eye color. Realization hit you as you slowly stepped back, it seemed to even take Colin a moment to to fully understand what happened until you had rushed out of the room.
“Wait!”
You did not wait, you kept running even though you had found your soulmate.
-
It seemed silly at the time, to have run away from the man that is now your husband. Glancing at Colon you couldn’t help but let a chuckle seeing him falling asleep at his desk. “Colin.”
Stepping towards the man you let your fingers run through his hair, a groan escaped his lips as he slowly opened his eyes, the eyes that you loved so much. “”
“Did I fall asleep again.”
“You did? But it’s rather adorable.” You teased though the man let out a snort as he snaked his arm around your waist tugging you into his lap, hips kissing your neck gently. “Have I ever told you how much I love you?”
“You have, nearly every day.” Your fingers tapped his nose.
Grinning you then placed your fingers under his chin as he rested his head against yours. “And that you have the most beautiful eyes.”
Sighing you nuzzled your face into his neck, his voice lulling you to sleep. “Everyday.”

“That’s as big as my balls!” (I don’t mind the fandom, any of them will be amazing🙂)
Tumblr media
“That’s as big as my balls!” had not been the exclamation Anthony Bridgerton expected to hear as he walked into the family living room. Still, his admonishment of “honestly, Benedict, you kiss our mother with that mouth” died on his tongue when he glanced up and clocked the sight in front of him.
“Sorry, Anthony,” Benedict said unapologetically, keeping his eyes on the ground, “but if you could see the size of this—this creature, you would spurt some similar obscenities!”
“He isn’t wrong,” Colin helpfully supplied from his place stood on the couch.
A very audible gasp sounded from you next as you zipped behind Benedict and latched onto him. “Ben, it twitched,” you hissed. Benedict gulped and Colin shuffled to the edge of the couch. Anthony’s frown deepened so much his brows became one. Meanwhile, Eloise, who had been silently reading at the opposite end of the room, rolled her eyes to the ceiling.
“The three of you are children,” she stated.
Anthony’s confusion briefly gave way for curiosity, compelling him to move forward despite not knowing what he may be faced with. From the looks of it, he figured it could be anything.
“What on Earth are you—” He stopped suddenly, brows shooting upwards and feet taking him a step back. “Good God,” he breathed out, a look of pure fear barraging his face.
Eloise rolled her eyes once more, her book now forgotten beside her. How anyone expected one to read peacefully in a house quite lacking in peace went beyond her.
“I stand corrected,” she said, meaning the number of children she had previously counted now stood a number higher. “Truly, you’d think none of you had seen a spider before. Y/N, we used to dig up all kinds of insects outside when—”
“When we were little more than four years old!” you shot back. “I’d say I’m quite well-versed in insects and their ghastliness now. Are spiders even insects?”
Four pairs of eyes gaped uneasily at the arachnid perched innocently on the floor between them. None of you dared to blink, as though losing sight of it for a millisecond would bring about your downfall. Colin was still as far from it as the sofa would allow, ready to jump and run if the need arose. You clung to Benedict’s shirt with white knuckles, Benedict just about managing to uphold his brotherly duty to shield his younger sister in the face of danger as compared to running behind her instead. And Anthony, a part of this now whether he liked it or not, stood as stiff and still as a rock.
“Are we quite sure it is a spider?” Colin asked.
Benedict swallowed. “I’d rather compare it to the devil’s spawn.”
“It looks big enough to have its own seat at the table,” Anthony mused more to himself.
You made a face. “Do you think it might be poisonous?”
At her siblings’ hushed conversation, Eloise jumped to her feet. “For goodness’ sake! Move out the way, brother. I’ll squash it with my book. But you must buy me another copy because I refuse to have spider guts on—”
“No, no, Eloise.” Anthony stopped her before she could act on the book held high above her head. “You’ll dirty the carpet and Mother will have some choice words to say about that. No…we need to remove it from the house and into the garden.”
There was a moment of silence in which each of you considered the eldest’s words. You glanced up one by one and looked between each other. Then Benedict snorted, not at all in amusement.
“Well, you won’t find me volunteering for that any time soon,” he said. You nodded vigorously, making sure Anthony could see that Benedict’s words were yours, too.
Colin chuckled a little nervously when Anthony turned his discreetly pleading gaze on him. “Be my guest, brother,” he said with a flourish of his hand.
Despite Eloise’s indifferent attitude, she performed a double-take when she realised Anthony had looked to her. Immediately, she tossed her hands up and stepped back. “Don’t look at me. I said I’d smash it with my book, not touch it.”
There were many responsibilities held by Anthony as head of the family, and he carried out each one with as much pride and attention as his father had afforded him. But this was where such achievements ended.
Standing straight, Anthony subconsciously bit down on his bottom lip and rolled his sleeves up. “Right, then,” he said, his voice strained. “If I just—” The thing suddenly moved, its long legs skittering across the ground towards Anthony, who yelped in a most undignified manner and leapt backwards into an unsuspecting Eloise. You shrieked, despite it moving further away from you, and leapt onto Benedict’s back, prompting him to inelegantly clamber up the couch beside Colin.
Anthony cleared his throat. “Perhaps we should return to the book idea,” he suggested. He had grasped Eloise’s shoulders somewhere along his frenzy, his panicked mind ignoring the vibrations as she laughed into her fist.
The spider stopped for a blissful three seconds before promptly turning and scurrying back the way it had come. Benedict and Colin’s eyes widened way too comically, and you tightened your arms around Benedict’s neck. “It’s getting closer!” you squealed.
“Why must it be so fast?” Colin’s voice was hurried as he climbed up to the top of the couch.
Benedict could feel his hands starting to sweat. “Spawn of the devil, spawn of the devil! Y/N, you’re choking me.”
“No, go that way!” Anthony yelled out as the spider turned again. He rushed past Eloise to climb atop the coffee table and Eloise sighed airily, walking back to her chair.
“Do let me know when you’d like my help!” she called back.
The ordeal lasted for a minute more. A minute of the spider darting around the room, Anthony attempting to look composed stood on a table, Benedict choking between your arms, Colin balancing precariously at the top of the couch, and Eloise doing her very best to concentrate and discover who Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday had freed from captivity on the island.
After the second minute began, the clamour of frantic voices died once the familiar call of “Children?” broke through each sibling’s haze. Your eyes snapped towards the doorway, where your mother stood, appearing just as confused as Anthony had not five minutes ago.
Benedict grinned in utter relief. “Mother! Thank the lord!”
“Mother, help,” you beseeched, somehow now attached to Colin, who uttered a simple, self-explanatory, quite high-pitched for a young gentleman: “quick!”
Violet blinked. Gregory and Hyacinth peeked into the room from behind her, curiosity mingling with slight concern on their faces as, for once, they decided not to beg to be brought into the action. Instinctively, Violet turned to Anthony, taken-aback for a mere moment when she noticed his position.
Anthony pressed his lips together in a tight line and laced his hands in front of him. “Mother,” he began, dipping his head with a forced smile, “I assure you, there is a reason for this. A reason...” He shifted back as the spider edged towards him. “Perfectly demanding of respect and...nobility.”
Violet quirked an eyebrow.
You gasped. “Anthony, it’s going your way! Get it, get it, get it!”
All respect and nobility vanished at the bewildered stare Anthony switched on you. “Me?”
As the shouts began again, Eloise got up with her book and walked towards her mother. “There’s a spider,” she stated simply, as though that would explain everything. Unsurprisingly, it did. “I’m going to read outside.”
“Alright, dear,” Violet said. With a small shake of her head and an almost amused smile pulling at her lips, she picked up an empty glass and a piece of paper from Benedict’s pile of art equipment. Without a hint of hesitation, she walked to the middle of the room, searched for a moment, and bent down.
“Mother!” Colin shouted, instinctively stretching an arm towards her. “Don’t! It might...” He faltered when she stood up, the spider captured under the glass and above the paper. “Bite you.”
Violet tutted as the room fell still. She moved confidently towards the open window, leaned slightly out, and let the spider go.
“There,” she said with a smile, “all resolved, my loves.”
The world seemed to pause. Slowly, you slid down to sit slumped on the couch, Colin and Benedict close behind. The three of you sat silently as Anthony stepped off the table and shook his body free of residual tension and shame. He rolled his sleeves down, tugged at his collar, and sat with a newspaper, effectively hiding his face with the pages. Benedict heaved himself up and returned to his canvas, the unfinished painted faces of you and Colin staring at him as he bit his lip and hovered his paintbrush above them. Violet settled in her armchair with her cup of tea while Hyacinth and Gregory quietly readied to continue their schoolwork.
“Beautiful day, is it not?” Violet asked brightly.
Anthony peeked over the top of his paper. Benedict caught his gaze just as you and Colin turned slowly towards each other. Surprisingly, it was Anthony who broke first, the patriarch of the family suddenly spluttering laughter. Benedict snorted so hard his hand jerked and he drew a black line over Colin’s nose, prompting both you and Colin to fall over each other in a fit of hilarity.
Violet glanced between her four giggling children as she sipped her tea with a fondness she held close to her heart. The concern on the faces of her two youngest, however, only grew tenfold.
And, from the open window, Eloise’s agitated voice flew in with the autumn breeze. “I’m trying to read! Shut up, or I’ll toss the spider back in!”

"Low-key hang out, huh?” You mused, eying the packed apartment booming with music audible from the first floor when you and Colin made your way up to the third floor of the five story walk up of the old tenement building. Booze was visible far as the eye could see, with folks chatting, making out, and dancing uninhibited, among other things.
Colin shot you a cheeky grin, winking as he herded you through the door, his arms braced on your shoulders and hot breath at your ear:
“So I lied a lil’. I know you would’a argued with me otherwise.”
“So you do it anyway without giving me a heads up?”
“What’s the expression? Better to beg for forgiveness...?”  His gaze lowered to your mouth, which felt hot all of a sudden, and suddenly you forgot what you were annoyed about. Instinctually you licked your bottom lip, which he fixated on, brown eyes turning to darkened amber.
“Ay, man, ‘bout time you showed up. Beginnin’ to think you got mugged or somethin’-” a darker skinned man yelled out, red cup in hand as he took sight of you. “And this must be... Melodie?”
“Marnie,” you corrected, reaching out to shake his hand hesitantly with a cautious smile. He surprised you by taking you into his arms in a hug. “Oh,” you mumbled. “My bad, I’m a hugger. And you bein’ tight with my boy here, well, just felt right. I’m Andjy, by the way.”
“Nice to meet you,” you replied. He leaned back, you doing the same as you rubbed your elbows somewhat awkwardly.
Colin stepped forward, hand light on your waist as he pointed to the others. “And that’s Petra, Aria, and DeShaun.”
“Hi,” you greeted.
Petra, a small artsy chick with an intimidating stare, looked you up and down, frowning. She was the only one who seemed unhappy to meet you. “I didn’t catch where you know Colin from?” She asked snottily.
You glanced up at Colin, who now was preoccupied with his phone.
“Oh, Colin didn’t tell you?”
"Nope.” She said, seeming somewhat amused by it. As if you weren’t significant enough to know, or to remember. You swallowed hard. “We lived together for a short while a bit ago.”
“Why?”
Nosy much, you thought.
“My parents took him in when he was about to age out of the foster system.”
“Oh,” realization dawned on her face, now looking pleased. “He’s your brother?”
“Well, not really-”
"Yo Colin,” a guy yelled, cutting short your explanation. “Got a bet goin’ here, need you to settle it.”
Colin grinned, yelling over the cocaghany of noise. “Aight ima be right over.” He leaned in, mint breath and aftershave washing over me again: “You gonna be all right here?”
You nodded enthusiastically, forcing a smile. “Sure. Take your time.” You didn’t want to make him feel obligated to stick by your side even if all you wanted to do was just that. Cooler, more mature and independent Marnie could handle herself.
“You sure sure?” He raised a thick brow, gaze searching yours for the truth.
“I’ll be fine. Go on and have fun.” You smiled encouragingly.
He brushed his knuckles against your upper arm, the one littered with all the rings. The cool press of the metal coupled with his presence had the hair on the back of your neck raising. “Back before you know it,” he promised, voice gravelly.
You kept rehearsing your new mantra about independence as you felt the immediate sense of loss (and slight panic) at seeing Colin walk away, also reminding yourself he would be back soon, and if not, you knew where to find him; it wasn’t as if the apartment was that large, although it was decently sized.
You briefly wondered how he paid for it all. He had a large flat screen TV and accompanying video game sets, several pieces of nice-looking even if second-hand furniture, a tiki inspired half bar, a pool table with darts, and a slew of pieces of out-there, neon colored art and film mementos that was so quintessentially Colin littering the painted walls and exposed brick, Coupled with the awesome neighborhood, he was living a bachelor and indie college kid’s dream.  It had to cost a fortune, yet as far as you knew, Colin wasn’t working, and NYU was hardly cheap.
I”ve never seen Colin like that,” one of the girl friends that Colin pointed out, said. You think you remember her name being Aria. She was much kinder, with a sweetheart face, and a really killer fashion sense. She looked like she knew a lot, but not the type to lord it over others. It endeared you to her.
“I’m sorry?” You shook your head, trying to catch up.
“Colin,” she said, glancing over where the blond was talking animatedly in a huddle of girls and guys, beer in one hand as he seemed to be regaling them with some story or other.
“He’s kind of overbearing with you, isn’t he? Like an older brother, but not quite...” Her gaze fixed back on you, searchingly. Looking for something. You felt like a bug under a microscope. Being popular, intelligent, and intuitive on top of pretty just seemed unfair.
“No, I don’t think so. He’s just looking out for me. This is my first party, and I’m sorta his responsibility for the weekend. He’d probably be less hands-on if we were back in Jersey.”
Your mind flashed to distinct memories of him not acting dissimilar, however. Times where he’d hover when he invited his guy friends over to the house, or act just a little too interested in what you and Wyatt, your then boyfriend, were up to.
“Right,” she said, taking a sip of her drink.
“We’re not related, you know.” You blurted out, blushing at the sudden rise of her eyebrows. “Sorry, that was random. I was just wanting to clarify the conversation from earlier with Petra. Yeah, we lived together for a bit but we aren’t siblings and we aren’t related by blood. Just want to make that clear...”
“Got it. To be honest, I wasn’t really listening, but since you brought it up,” she tilted her head to the side, “you don’t really look alike at all. I know Colin’s not a natural blond much as he tries to protest otherwise, but I’m fairly sure he doesn’t have curly hair hidden under that bleach blond Eminem look,” she giggled.
You laughed with her, feeling more at ease in her presence. “Yeah, can verify that’s not the case.”
As the night went on, you stuck close with Aria, who fortunately seemed content in your company, and even had a chance to get to know Luca and DeShaun more. Andjy, who had left to start the pool game, seemed to be killing it, taking people’s cash left and right, while Colin had yet to come back, now drinking and dancing with his shirt off which showed off all his tattoos, and a little dark happy trail that led into his sweats that you were definitely not looking at.
“So ‘first party’ girl, you wanna drink?” Asked Aria. “I’m assuming this is also your first taste of alcohol, although the two aren’t mutually exclusive.”
You bit your lip. “Actually, I’ve had some wine at home with dinner.”
“That doesn’t count,” she smirked.
“I don’t know...”
“Come on, try some. I promise to hold your hair back if you puke.” She laughed.
“Okay,” you caved. “Not a lot, though. What’s that?” You pointed to hers. “Tequila. You’re not ready for that, though. Here, lemme get you some vodka and a chaser. That’s what my mom started me on, haven’t looked back since,” she winked, pouring and mixing the drinks.
You watched her, wondering whether you were making a mistake. Then you remembered you were alone, probably for the first time in your 17 years, not including a short stint at camp several summers in a row in your tween years. You were supervised then. This time was completely different, and you were older.
“Bottoms up,” she says, holding out the red cup to you. You take it, reluctantly, seeing her watchful gaze on you. You smile, tossing it back slowly at first, then quickly, as the awful acidic taste overwhelmed your taste buds. You coughed a little as you swallowed, earning some laughs around you.
“Damn, Ari, you are a bad influence,” DeShaun teased, not disapprovingly.
“What is this again?” You asked when you were more coherent. “It tastes like nail polish remover.”
“Well la de da,” piped up Petra.
Aria laughed. “Shut your mouth, it’s vodka and cranberry, top notch vodka at that.”
“Girl’s got taste, don’t hate,” DeShaun retorted.
They kept on talking, but as you listened it became less and less clear to you what they were saying.
“Girl, you okay?” Aria rested her hand on your knee, trying to grab your attention.  “I'm good,” you mumbled, rising. You suddenly had to go to the bathroom. “Where’s the bathroom?”
“Down the hall to the left,” she said, eying you. “You sure you’re good? Want me to come?”
“She doesn’t need a damn babysitter,” snapped Petra. “Let her be. She’ll find her way.”
You drifted off in the direction mentioned, which was easier said than done between navigating through the crowd, and your increasingly dizzy, forgetful state of mind. It had only been one drink, and yet you knew without a question you were definitely drunk.
“Hey, you mind?” Said the guy inside the bathroom, whom you’d accidentally walked in on without knocking. “Sorry,” you said, quickly shutting the door. There was a woman inside with him on her knees; you may have been inexperienced, but even you understood what was clearly happening between the two.
“Bathroom taken?” Said someone beside you. You hadn’t noticed him walk up behind you and you took a step back. “Yeah. Don’t think they’re coming out anytime soon, though...”
He laughed, a sort of hoarse sound. “Shit, that’s rude as fuck.”
“Mhm.”
“I wouldn’t normally do this, but I live next door and you’re welcome to use mine.”
You looked at him skeptically. In your inebriated state, you were feeling abnormally distrustful.
“Yeah, I get it. Strange guy inviting you into his apartment, I know how it looks but I promise I don’t mean anything by it, apart from wanting to help.”
“It’s just... I don’t even know who you are.”
“Dominic,” he says, offering an outstretched hand. It felt calloused in yours. “And you are?”
“Marnie,” you reply.
“Well, Marnie, now we know each other,” he grinned ear to ear; it was dark, but you could just make it out. “Okay,” you said.
“Okay.”
You flushed the toilet, washing your hands in the sink. For some stranger’s bathroom, it was pleasantly clean, which you appreciated.
“Thanks for letting me use your bathroom,” you said shyly.
“’Course. Couldn’t let a pretty girl suffer like that,” he winked. You blushed. He was fairly attractive, now that you could see him in decent lighting. He was clearly older, however, maybe even older than Colin by a few years.
“So I haven’t seen you around before. How do you know Colin?”
“I’m his...” You tried to think of a good descriptor. “Friend,” you settled on. You were, you supposed, weren’t you? It was less messy than the reality.
“Interesting,” he responded, watching you curiously.
“What?”
He shook his head. “Just, from what I’ve seen of the guy, he doesn’t exactly do female friends, if you catch my drift.”
“He’s got a few. I met them today,” you defended.
“Just an observation.”
A knock sounded at the door. It was pretty loud. With raised eyebrows, Dominic approached the door. “Coming.” He said.
The door opened to reveal Colin, looking pissed. “Oh, Colin! Hi, how are you-”
“You son of a bitch,” he growled, lunging at Dominic.

colin bridgerton serie
Tumblr media
ep nine - s2
words count: :/        fem reader! x Colin Bridgerton
warning: friends to lovers trope
summary: y/n Dayton and Colin Bridgerton were friends and they swore they'd always be but it takes a great deal of bravery to love someone, more to keep loving them when it hurts the most.
English is not my first language loves, trying my best, enjoy :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That evening the Bridgertons had just entered the hall of the Hamiltons’ manor, a respectable, for the most, family of the ton.
It was the third ball of the season and everyone was shaken by curiousness since even if the season had already started, the queen still had to chose her diamond.
That night in particular was special because the Queen decided to participate, triggering the gossip of the ton.
"I shall marry the diamond, brother" Anthony spoke, his eyes hard as he inspected the ton.
"we’ll be happy to introduce y/n to our family then" Benedict spoke as Colin’s head flew to the direction of his brothers "what?".
"Stop now, you three" Lady Bridgerton spoke, dismissing her sons with a hand gesture, "we must look collected, since THE VISCOUNT DECIDED TO TAKE WIFE THIS SEASON".
Her words getting louder as a turbine of girls made their way toward the viscount.
Colin had moved towards Eloise as he whispered to her "you really think y/n is going to be the diamond?".
The younger looked amused as she answered: "I don’t know, I believe she really doesn’t need it since half of the men here are desperate to even cross eyes with her".
Colin felt like throwing up.
"You still haven’t talked to her?" Eloise asked seen his brother sudden loss for words, (Colin always knew what to reply).
"I’m finding it difficult, she won’t speak to me".
El nodded her head, suggesting "maybe try harder?".
But Colin needed no pushes, he knew how to get to a woman, even better, how to get to her.
Y/n’s eyes were shining under the enormous chandelier as she was bowing to her dance partner: "thank you mr Byron, it has been lovely".
The man promised to return with a glass of cold lemonade when she let her guard down.
Appearing behind her, Colin touched her elbow softly, his fingers trailing down y/n’s arm as she looked startled.
"Mr Bridgerton" she muttered but Colin had already snatched y/n’s carnet from her wrist and was writing his name.
"just in time, it looks like I’ve occupied the last blank space of your carnet, mrs y/n".
His tone was playful but her gaze was making him unsure.
Either way, she was trapped now.
When he took her by the hand, making their way to the dance floor, he was determined to make things right.
The music had just started when he spoke nonchalantly: "you look angry".
Y/n huffed witch made Colin smile slightly, he had shoot a great shot.
"That is because I am mr Bridgerton".
"And why may I ask?"
"You tricked me into a dance I didn’t want to have".
Colin shook his head as he replied "so you prefer to not give me an explanation to why you suddenly seem to deny me of your friendship?".
Y/n took a step forward, her face mere inches from Colin’s, but there was no love in it, only pure and impetuous rage.
"My friendship must have departed with you on that ship"; her voice was stern and her mouth dry.
Colin was startled but he kept on speaking any way: "I see you are holding a grudge".
Y/n smiled, distancing herself enough from the man as she twirled, "oh no my lord, I have no intention of wasting any more of my feelings on you, not even anger".
Now Colin couldn’t help but feel hurt as he replied stern "yet you seem to use it so well on me".
"What I may seem or seem not to you is nothing of my concern Colin", they got closer again, their hands meeting up as they slowly covered their faces, only to travel down towards the floor.
She could feel his breath on her cheeks, which made her the more flustered.
When y/n spoke again, her voice was much softer "you left to never look back".
"I did write you, countless of times".
"It was not enough" Y/n exclaimed, a bit too loud than acceptable.
"Your words didn’t fill your absence" the music coming to a stop as she declared "so I learned to fill it differently".
The man was looking at her, maybe for the first time in his life; she was indeed beautiful, even when she was furious, even when she was threatening to abandon him.
Has she really always been this beautiful?
"Goodbye, Colin".
There were two things Colin knew in that moment: one, she was far from feeling nothing for him and two, he needed her to feel something for him.

*sigh* This is your fault but. Colin x reader romance headcanons
You did this. How do you feel?
I feel pretty good about myself not gonna lie. Anyways, I'll gladly write this. I hope you enjoy!
Colin x reader (romantic headcanons)
This is an already established relationship.
He's a little bit more okay with you touching him. You could be a bit affectionate with him at times. But again only with his consent.
He doesn't get as mad as he gets if you touch him without his consent. He might yell at you or all of the sudden be across the other side of the room. But after that not much else.
He's not sure how he feels about having romantic feelings for you. To be honest he hasn't gotten the hang of it quite yet.
If he's flustered you can easily hear his fans humming. If you comment on this Colin might immediately get defensive. He also might immediately tell you that his fans hum when he is looking at a moron. (He's lying)
Horrible at flirting since he's so used to advertising oats. He'll literally never get better at flirting.
He doesn't need sleep. But he'll sleep anyway so he doesn't get bored at night. He sleeps on a desk near to your bed.
He gets annoyed when you have to eat. Since he doesn't have anything else to do when you eat. You keep suggesting for him to talk with you if he's bored. But his digital mind can't understand how you can eat and talk to him at the same time.
You don't go on dates with Colin that often. It might be once a month or two but that's all. Unless you suggest having a date in his digital world he keeps talking about. Which he perks up immediately to.
To be honest the dates in there feel way too weird. But he likes it since you two can do almost whatever you two want in there.
He causes a bit of problems for you since you sometimes get angry neighbours knocking on your door. It's not always too serious of course. But there has been times when Colin has given a few children PTSD about songs. Which isn't great news for you.
The cops might think of you as a threat sooner or enough but you're willing to test your luck.
He still likes singing to you. Though his songs not being malicious for now. He's not great at singing but he likes it.
He sucks at board games. Unless it's chess. He's great at chess (He's a computer of course he's good at chess.) You literally can never beat him.
He's a lot more calmer in the evening but at every other time he's not calm at all.
He gets to touch you, but you not so much. Sometimes he's right in your face and touches your nose. He's been doing that a lot lately because he finds it funny.
He might be on your table for a few seconds and immediately when you turn around he's gone outside annoying a few children. Whenever he does this you have to go outside and get him back into your house. You can't have him causing more PTSD.
Overall your relationship with Colin is both hectic but also calm and fun.

The Food Blogger [Colin x reader]
This might have a part two if enough people like it
Tumblr media
I actually talked about writing something with Colin about a month ago, but then I went out with some friends and had a family emergency and I somehow forgot about it?? So this is not really what I planned at first, lol
tagging some of the people that sounded really interested in my idea when I posted about it: @vic-top @iputthefaninfanfics @idylio24 (sorry if it isn't what you were expecting hehe)
Fandoms: Not Okay Movie Warnings: weed, me being bad at writing stuff that sounds like Colin, Danni is being Danni... Pairings: future Colin x reader Words: 1,7k
“Okay Y/N, take a picture, post it on Instagram, post the blog post with the recipe and link it to your stories. You’ve done this multiple times, nothing’s scary about it..” The girl mumbled as she moved around her table, trying to get the best angle to take a picture of her creation. The table had a thin white tablecloth thrown over it to cover the multiple paint stains from when the girl tried to be creative. On the tablecloth, in the middle of the table, sat a black plate with pancakes on top of it. The girl managed to sprinkle more powdered sugar on the pancakes as she found the right angle. At first glance, there was nothing special about the pancakes, maybe the three raspberries on top which ended up there after she thought the brown color of the pancakes was a little boring. But if someone would eat the food, they would find out it actually had a secret ingredient. Weed.
How did the weed end up in the pancakes of a girl who has never even touched a joint? Funny story actually, it started with her getting a new job as a food blogger. On the same day, she bumped into a particular bleached guy, who smelled like weed. Hell, you could smell him from a few meters away, that’s how bad the weed smell was. Noone at work seemed to notice it, or maybe they were just used to it at this point. There wasn’t actually anything that interesting about him, except the good looks, pretty eyes, absolutely tasty-looking lips and- the girl’s phone buzzed next to her. She groaned and turned around to pick it up from the counter to look at who texted her.
‘U free?’
Was what she saw under Danni’s name on her screen. What the hell did Danni want? She hasn’t talked to her since she found out she also had the hots for Colin. They had a fight about who could possibly actually end up dating him. Let’s say Danni didn’t like the idea of him not liking either of them.
Y/N rolled her eyes as she clicked on the call button and put the phone near her ear, using her other hand to look at the pictures she took with her camera.
“Y/N? Why are you calling me, couldn’t you just text back like a normal person?” Danni’s voice was heard from the phone speaker not even after the first beep.
“Kinda trying to work here, figured out calling would be quicker,” Y/N mumbled into the phone, still not knowing what to think about the other girl calling her.
“Anyway, what do you want?” She asked right after and put her camera down on the table next to the plate, walking to her couch so she could sit down.
“I was wondering if you would want to go out to get some coffee… Talk about boys… You know, all the stuff. You didn’t respond to any of my emails so-”
“Fine, I’ll be down in five.” Y/N hung up before Danni could continue. She was already regretting her decision. But she also didn’t want to let go of one of her only work friends. A stupid fight over a boy should not end a friendship, right?
☆☆☆☆☆☆
Danni was late. Y/N stood outside in her black sweatpants and a black baggy t-shirt with some random prints all over it. She was regretting putting on her new Vans, as she could already feel the skin on her heels protesting. She was scrolling through her Instagram, liking Colin’s new posts when a pair of white shoes appeared on the ground in front of her. She slowly looked up, noticing the brown pants and lighter-brown hoodie. Finally, she saw Danni’s face framed by two blonde strands of hair on each side, tucked behind her ears.
“Hiii!” Danni cheered, pulling Y/N into a hug almost making her drop her phone.
“Uh, hi,” Y/N laughed awkwardly. Danni didn’t seem to notice.
“How have you been? I saw you gained some followers after those yummy-looking weed recipes,” Danni’s eyes sparkled when she mentioned the followers. Y/N slowly blinked, realizing the other girl just wanted to boost her follower count.
“Oh, I’ve been great, yeah…” Y/N put away her phone as they started walking down the street. Danni started talking about her wanting to get into writing and Y/N was just nodding her head, not really listening. She was mostly looking around wondering where they were going to end up.
“No way! Je obsessed!” Danni said suddenly, making Y/N stop and look at what she was looking at. They stood in front of a tiny coffee shop called Matcha Baby. A waitress put out a sign and walked back inside.
“Influencers eat free?” Y/N read aloud. She bit her lip, trying not to laugh when she noticed Danni checking her follower count.
“Not today,” Danni made a face and turned to continue walking when she stopped and just stared. Y/N almost bumped into her as she didn’t notice her just standing there again.
“What the hell Da-” Y/N started to say. Then she noticed what the other girl was staring at.
“-nni. Oh, you’ve got to be shittin’ me.” She mumbled under her breath. A few meters away from them there was a black car. They both stared as Colin stepped out of it, smoke surrounding him as he breathed it out, and started walking their way. Y/N was already moving to the side so he could walk by. Danni had other ideas.
“Colin!” Danni exclaimed loudly, making Y/N wince. Colin stopped right in front of them.
“Oh shit. Waddup honey? Yea I can’t take a pic right now. But-” Colin said, making Y/N snort. She quickly covered her mouth but Colin already turned his attention to her.
“Oh, I’ve seen you before?” He asked, looking Y/N up and down. She made a surprised noise, trying to ignore Danni who was plotting her murder by the looks she was giving her.
“Oh, I- Ehm I work in the same building? Make food posts on insta and.. stuff..” Y/N cringed as her voice cracked.
“Shiit right! You make those lit weed posts!” He looked down at his phone, quickly typing something on the screen, and then turned it to face her.
“Haven’t actually seen yo acc on my insta, just saw an article. Give me your user?” He asked. Y/N’s eyes widened and she took his phone into her shaking hands, quickly typing her Instagram username into the search bar. She then returned his phone with a shy smile on her face.
“Sick,” he tapped on the screen, few seconds later she felt her phone buzz in her pocket. She had to bite her lip to stop herself from screaming. Was this really happening?
“I work in that building too!” Danni said loudly so the two of them heard her. They both looked at each other and then turned their heads to look at Danni.
“Yeah. Anyway. I’m supposed to be going to-” Colin looked at his screen and then up at the coffee shop, “- there. Matcha Babyy. Plus my plug lives here so two birds one stone.” He waved his hand towards the building.
“Yeah, I smoke marijuana, like, all the time!” Danni said, smiling.
“Oh lord,” Y/N mumbled under her breath, deciding to pull out her phone and pretend she is doing something.
“Ever seen one of these?” Colin asked, lighting the weird-looking joint. Y/N quickly turned on her camera and pointed it at Danni when she saw her reaching for the joint. Danni inhaled the smoke and started coughing before she gave the joint back to Colin. Y/N was silently laughing as she sent the video to one of her friends back home. She missed Colin talking to a random fan on the other side of the street because of the spam of laughing emojis she got as a response.
“So cool that you have a fan!” Danni said in between coughs. Colin shot a quick look at Y/N and then back to Danni.
“Oh yeah, I got a- I got a bunch. That’s just one.” He chuckled.
“So like, what are you? Like, at Depravity? I see she-” he waved his hand towards Y/N, “ is a food blogger. What are you?”
“I’m a- I’m a writer,” Danni said. Y/N rolled her eyes. Writer, sure. Colin completely zoned out taking selfies with his joint as she talked more.
“I wanna develop my work by traveling and stuff. And maybe like, going on one of those writer retreats-” That got Colin’s attention.
“Oh, you’re going on a retreat?” He zoned out again as he got a notification. Y/N just stood there, staring at the two of them as if she was watching a movie. She only needed popcorn.
“I’m going to Paris for it,” Danni said out of nowhere and Y/N choked on air, almost falling over. Colin looked up from his phone to Danni.
“Shit. That’s dope. Hey, get pics,” he was ready to walk away when Danni stepped into his way, making Y/N start choking once again.
“I’m gonna get lots of pics! Yeah. Throw them all up on the gram!” Danni made a random dance move and Y/N turned to look at the lady that was sitting on the ground next to them this whole time. They both had the same look on their faces, they were completely done with Danni.
“By the way, this was laced with, like, mad wax, so your tolerance must be OD as fuck. Damn, ma. Good luck in Paris, Jenny.” He turned to Y/N.
“Good to meet you both,” he said as he walked away.
“Danni,” Danni said, turning around to look at him walking away.
“What’s up?” He stopped and looked at her.
“My name is Danni.”
“No, it’s Colin.” He said. Y/N busted out laughing.
“I’ll see you at work,” Colin said, looking at Y/N. Then he turned to look at Danni.
“Or I guess I won’t.” He then walked away. Danni started laughing loudly, making both the homeless lady and Y/N look at her like at a crazy person.
“Fuck me,” Danni said as she finished laughing.
“Fuck you indeed,” Y/N mumbled under her breath, making the homeless lady snort.
