Here in Missouri, they are using trans rights as a wedge issue and to “punish” the big metros throughout, what they consider, a rural state. They do not lead in good faith. Everything is a battle to maintain control now and trans children and adults are the one good target that sticks. Amid all this, an institution in Southern Missouri reached out to the community for support for students who were scared and felt targetted by this malicious legislation. They asked for words of encouragement for these young people, memes, pictures-- whatever we could muster. I made this art for them with rights to display it how they chose. I hope they know that they are loved and valued as people. They are not political pawns. The “Christians” and “it’s for your own good” busybodies in our state who reject their choices are the lowest scum for targeting such an endangered minority. I will not accept their ignorance of the issue as an excuse.

I love you, trans brothers and sisters. I support you. The Holy text proclaims God loves you, too, and gave us all free will so you could choose to live life as you please. Those who call themselves Christians have no right to take away your autonomy in this way. Their lies, derision, and divisiveness is the very sin they claim to hate. The current Republicans would have been the kind who mocked Jesus on the cross.

I work in a nursing home. I see people with various conditions and life stories.

A coworker got angry at a women with severe dementia the other day and proclaimed "why should I deal with this? She used to be a prostitute!!"

My heart sank.

Does it matter what we accomplished in life? This patient was born an innocent child. She never contemplated the life she would lead. Maybe she was the best damn prostitute on her corner and had fun? Or maybe her life circumstances lead her to it to survive?

Who am I to judge. Her worth is not bound up in titles, salaries or any such thing.

And now she's like an innocent child again and all I can do is to care for here as I would any child.

Sorry if this is hard to read. I just wanted to get it of my chest.

Do liberal thinking open minded Christian people actually exist? I have met a few of them in my seminary classes over zoom but have never met any in my real life. I am encouraged by meeting Quakers over zoom but all I can find in my community are fundamentalist right wing republican christians. Where are my friends in the Christian Left? Am I truly alone?

When we talk about America being a "Christian nation," do we mean it? Do we really? Because I am seeing far too many Christs suffering here and now.

Do not preach to me the Kingdom of God. For to often it is a kingdom devoid of good people. If your Kingdom is filled with hate, inequality, fear, domination and violence, then it is not a Kingdom of God. It is a dictatorship.

The Kingdom I long for is described by Christ in the Beatitudes.

When your Kingdom reflects these, I will listen with an open ear and a heart filled with gladness.

Strive not to be worthy of the Kingdom. You already are!

The amount of actual antisemitism on this website is frightening.

It might not be obvious given Tumblr has a new algorithm that only shows you what you want to see, and yes there's maybe a whole discourse about the fighting of antisemitic views and blogs about criticizing antisemitic medias and remembering what genocidal antisemitic political group like the Nazis did. And when you look at this part of Tumblr you think "Alright, it's okay, it's cool."

Problem is that it is a really tiny fragment, and when you look at the other side of Tumblr, at the mass of things Tumblr doesn't show you, you'll find tons of antisemitic posts and tons of blogs praying for all Jews to die. Literaly I saw people here simply write "All Jews must die".

I shouldn't be surprised given the rise, return and multiplication of actual antisemitic political and social movements IRL in numerous countries... But it's still sad to see this website is just as corrupted as any others. I guess it is less visible because often antisemitic views tend to use political, religious or social arguments and subjects as "covers" (the current news is an especially good "shield") but always remember to check deeper and to carefully look at what people are writing - because you need to be able to read between the lines, to see if someone is actually involved in said topics or if they just use a superficial knowledge of it to promote a new genocide of the Jews as a whole.
