Suicide. I’ve been there.

A night in the ER, stomach pumped and a few cardiac arrests.. I ate almost two dozen bottles of sleep meds, opioids, blood thinners, and adhd meds. I was ready to leave, and I timed it for when my family was out of country.

I remember being in that hospital bed that night and looking at the attending nurse watching over me. I said to her “you know how there’s voluntary and involuntary bodily functions?” she nods. “Well, what if you could tell your heart to stop, and it would just listen?” Just then I slipped into arrest again, monitors go off and she’s bug-eyed and screaming. I think I smiled in that moment, as fucked up as it was. I mean, I was out of my mind.

The idea never really goes away, killing myself that is. But living to see what it put my mother through, how it scared my little sister enough to visit me in the ward.. I’ve simply become well versed in talking myself down. “give it X hours and see how you feel” I tell myself, whenever the darkness creeps back over. And I just keep telling myself to wait and see how I feel the next day. Remember how you made your mother cry? Let’s not do that again.

God bless you anon. I’m truly happy that you’re still here. You have a future and a purpose to fulfill, this much is obvious. I’m glad that you aren’t dead and you failed in that endeavour, you were built for so much more.

I finally felt decent enough to be able to hang out with my roommate/best friend for a little while tonight. Being in her presence is so refreshing. And I know this arrangement we have is not going to last forever so I'm definitely enjoying every moment with her as much as I can. It's rare for me to be in so much pain that I have to stay in bed, so this past couple days has been pretty brutal. The moment I was beside her, I felt so much better. I'm the luckiest guy in the world to have this beautiful, amazing, intelligent, talented woman in my life right now and I'm gonna cherish every second of it.

If she has your attention only when she’s wearing lingerie or has nothing on, then there’s something wrong. If you are so bloody shallow as to see only her flesh, her surface, but can’t, or refuse to see, her true beauty hidden beneath her skin, if you can’t see her naked soul, then you don’t deserve to see her naked body.
