If the Wonder Woman characters (or rather, if WW, the other Amazons, The Olympians, other Roman/Greece mythological beings and Steve Trevor) had ALWAYS lived in the Marvel Universe and it's vice versa with the Thor cast (with Thor, the other Asgardians, other Norse mythological beings and Jane Foster) HAVING ALWAYS existed in the DCU, how different would those chars' lives be in that "swapped characters" scenario?

Oooohhh, that’s a cool concept!

So, I’m just going to dive right into my initial thoughts, being the characters from opposing universes which parallel Thor and Diana. Wonder Woman meets Captain America, firstly in WWII and then again in the modern era? Amazing! Spectacular. Fairly heart-wrenching. For Steve to have a friend to lean on who has witnessed the entire change from the 1940s to the modern day would probably have smoothed his path a whole lot. Diana and Peggy would definitely have been mates since Peggy founded S.H.I.E.LD for sure, no question.

As for Thor, I guess the closest DC character to his experience would be Superman. They’re both ‘aliens’ who cultivate a god-like following (literally in Thor’s case). For Thor to crash-land on an earth where he is immediately confronted with a being that matches him strength for strength, but who also has the capacity for compassion and understanding that Clark has, could easily go two ways. One: clash of the titans. Buildings destroyed, one big bloody mess. Jane Foster never getting the chance to grab Thor and learn about her Eisen-Rosen bridge before Clark’s got Thor locked up in some Wayne Enterprises dungeon on a deep black site nobody will ever hear about.

Narratively, I imagine the biggest difference is in the lore which builds conflict in the two universes. Ares arriving on on MCU Earth instead of Loki, for example. That would change the entire outcome of ‘The Avengers’ in the MCU. It would also have a fairly huge impact on the narrative of ‘The Young Avengers’ comics, what with Loki rescuing Billy Kaplan and Teddy Altman from the Mother-parasite’s realm, kick-starting the rest of the series.

In the reverse, I guess who have a DCCU where Loki is running around causing havoc and possibly teaming up with the DC’s trickster, the Joker. Like the Thor/Superman dynamic, that would be a fascinating interplay. I wonder if there would be a kind of comradery between them, or whether they’d simply pit their wits against each other in a game of ‘who’s the better mass-murderer?’ Or, whether Loki would dismiss the Joker as a cheap clown, a bit of a fraud? Loki, who (Joss Whedon’s translation aside) generally leans more on the trick of trickster. He’s the god of mischief, not murder, and Joker is the Clown Prince of Crime; he’s always been a darker, more malignant figure than Loki, in my opinion.

"Without a team, I’m nothing," he said. His voice had instantly become grim again, cracking midway through the sentence as he felt the first tear actually escape his eye, streaking down his cheek. Teddy was quick to wipe it away with the back of his hand, all the while trying to maintain eye contact. "I’m not a hero. I’m nothing. I could have helped my people, but I didn’t. I should have saved my team, but I couldn’t."

He stopped talking for a moment, drawing his legs beneath himself, sitting cross-legged on the couch. His gaze fell to his lap, fingers picking at his jeans. “You’re doing a better job preserving his legacy than I am. I never wanted the title, I couldn’t live up to it.” He swallowed heavily, throat drying out, the knot still growing tighter. “But you… you’ll do him proud. I’m sure, wherever he is, he’s smiling down on you.” Years of catholic school was harder to shake than he thought. “It doesn’t change the fact that he died not knowing he even had a son. And that’s my fault. I shouldn’t have been happy with the impostor being proud of me. It just took all my courage the first time, I didn’t think I could do it again.”

Scratching the back of his neck, Teddy slowly turned his head back up to face Carol. “The Skrull said he was proud to have a brave son, but… I think Mar-Vell would have been disappointed he raised a coward.”
