I want to see glimpses of hope, of peace, of a future that is better for everyone and I want them to choose wrong. I want them to refuse to regret that choice, no matter how much it hurts, no matter who it hurts. I want them to succeed in their vengeance and look back and think, even after everything, "It was worth it. I did what I had to do." I'm tired of characters choosing peace and healing and love. Choose hate and anger and pain, and inflict on every person who ever hurt you.

The second I saw those lyric references I IMMEDIATELY KNEW which song it was. From before the book came out, I was obbsessed with the song lmaoo

It's called Come Along by Cosmo Sheldrake. His style in music is very fae-like and he has the voice you would only hear from bards, highly recommend checking out his music.

The lyrics of the rest of the song is so good and ties in almost perfectly to just about every single event in FOTA.

There are spider gangs in my garage. They are cannibalizing each other. It made me think of characters raised in the normal world (outside) before a traumatic event (getting trapped in a house and chased down by humans) altered them irreversibly. Now they have been placed in a new world (the garage) where they must kill or be killed. It's ruthless, it's cutthroat and to survive/cope they must be cruel (there aren't enough bugs in there to feed them so they must eat each other). Everyone around them is also traumatized creating a whole culture of violence and misery, it is endless but in some ways it is beautiful. Maybe one day they'll look back and remember home.
