hc that Chiara and Damien both have mutual crushes on each other but neither of them act on it because they are convinced the other person hates them. This misconception is entirely caused by neither of them having any clue on how to express their feelings.

like Damien will just be doing something random and Chiara walks in on him and is rudely reminded of how pretty she finds him and she just. immediately turns around and leaves. And Damien's like, "damn, she hates me so much she can't even stand to be in the same room as me."

or Damien will want to be near her but not know how so he'll partner up with her in sparring. And because he's Damien he fights like a dog with rabies so obviously she thinks he's trying to kill her or something and doesn't want to spar with him. and he's all "🥺 she doesn't wanna partner up wif me 🥺"

Okay this may not be everyone’s opinion but,

The Wicked King is the best book in the trilogy.

It’s Cardan becoming confident in himself and in his love for Jude,

It’s Jude learning she’s always been capable of being great but people told her she wasn’t,

It’s two stubborn people falling in love but are too scared to admit it because they have a lot to work through,

The Queen of Nothing is easily a close second but TWK really dives into them as people AND then as a couple,

It also has some of the best YA plot points EVER (thank you Holly Black)

I really want to give away my folk of the air books because after mulling over it I've decided I didn't really like them that much and they're just taking up space, but the Queen of nothing hardback is really too gorgeous for me to just throw awayyyy

Ok while I love and appreciate all the fan art I find myself loving the ones where Jude looks more average. For me it’s as though it adds more depth to her and Cardens relationship the fact that in a world of inhuman beauty he found her so captivating. That even though she was mortal and to all others rather plain he was so struck by her. Especially taking into account that she has a twin sister who looks just like her. Art where she’s just normal and less fae like reminds me how there love was so much more than physical attraction.

So I read the entire Folk of the Air trilogy in the last two days.

And I have at least one thought…

As soon as I read the prophecy about Carden after he got turned into the serpent (“Only out of his spilled blood can a great ruler rise”) I went “well someone’s gotta stab him or kill him so he can be reborn into the great ruler” and it took them ABOUT 50 PAGES TO REALIZE IT. And they only did because JUDE DECAPITATED HIM. I mean, good grief, I thought wordplay was kind of the thing there, and none of them thought “huh I wonder if that prophecy just means we gotta spill his blood to turn him back?” These idiots.

But also loved the series. Started off slow, but once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down.
