according to my notes it is one year to the day since i started reading the aubrey-maturin books

#i have never in my life been so blindsided by a series of books #i was expecting to read a couple of them - be mildly entertained - and move on #instead i got a series that somehow said a lot of things i needed to hear #right when i was at a point that i could hear it #which again is NOT what i was expecting when i picked up master and commander #and it's absolutely not the effect they would have on most people #bc the things i took out of it aren't really what the books are trying to say for the most part #it was just a format which easily conveyed ideas that challenged assumptions which were holding me back #which feels weird and a little ridiculous to say about what is ultimately just entertaining historical fiction #idk it would be interesting to try and put my thoughts on why they hit me so hard into a clearer format #but tumblr's not the right venue #anyway. wild experience. good books. here's to another year of aubreyad posting!#aubreyad

u know how they also made it so accounts registered after a certain date (aka any account made right now onward) has the recommended posts set as the default dashboard tab to try ~*~easing the new user base into using tumblr~*~

u think they ever consider just. allowing u an option to change the default tab. idk anyone who uses the for you tab genuinely (I occasionally go look at it but it's 90% of the time all posts I've seen on my dash just. from op this time) but if u have people who don't use it and people who do, isn't the most reasonable approach to that to give the user a choice. instead of going This Is How It's Gonna Be

today in luiza's extremely technicolor dreams, i'll give you:

- horror sequence with a creepy girl inside my own house that had me waking up gasping at fucking 5am

- fell asleep again and dreamed that me and my mom were at this fancy beach resort that sort of also looked like a city and when we were about to leave there was this man with a knife that wouldn't let us out and i had to hide in this dock that people kept walking over where i was hiding but my mom kind of disappeared
