pairing: kim taehyung x you
Tumblr media
-----------------
summary: you moved in to a new apartment because you couldn't live another day with a noisy neighbor. to your luck, your balcony faced another apartment's balcony from the building next door and he also is infamous for making sounds. however, you can't seem to care when the noise is actually from a nice violin and the player himself is also nice-looking.
-----------------
track 2: story of my life + written part
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
to make your friends believe you were, indeed, sleeping, you shut off your phone and placed it down because they somehow always knew when you would be online. your eyes wandered around your tiny bedroom before deciding to make some breakfast and something to drink so you could energize to finish your paper. the trek from your room to the kitchen was short as it was just right across the hall since the 1-bedroom apartment was compacted to the smallest size possible.
it would make sense why rent was so cheap.
during your walk, you noticed out of your balcony’s french door’s windows that your neighbor- er, was it tae? taehyung? taeyong? -was leaning against the railing but this time, no violin. his eyebrows were scrunched together as if deeply in-thought and there was a frown resting on his lips that usually held an adorable grin. something must be happening. at first you wanted to just go over there and talk to him but you decided to just make your food and tea then go over to talk over breakfast.
taehyung noticed you walking towards your doors with a plate of cookies and a teacup in-hand. his eyes naturally followed you and his mood brightened up slightly, seeing his new friend make her way for him to talk to her and be distracted from the stress of his life. you were juggling a newspaper under your arm while your two hands carried your breakfast but you somehow made it, even being able to twist the doorknob to open towards the balcony.
tae’s smile made you instantly look at him and you quickly put down your things to walk to the railing so you could talk to him.
“hey”
he greeted and you tilted your head with a smile.
“hey, yourself”
you both shared a split-second of silence but it was comfortable enough to break into chuckles after. you settled on one of the chairs of your little table and once you were comfortable enough, you finally asked the question.
“what’s wrong, tae?”
you asked and he flinched, recalling showing you any face of stress in the 3 seconds you were out.
“huh?”
“i noticed from inside that you looked stressed. is it school?”
your question was answered with no words but with how he sighed and closed his eyes.
“setting aside how you guessed right, yea, school’s just kicking my ass right now”
you nodded in understanding.
“is there,, anything i can help you with? you mentioned being in photography but i’m not exactly great at,,, well,,,, taking photos”
sheepishly smiling, you ducked your head but tae felt warm that you even wanted to help him.
“it’s a project my professor assigned. i guess you could say it’s our end of the semester project. i have the equipment but,,, i just don’t have a theme”
a theme?
well, you couldn’t exactly come up with anything either without sounding too cheesy or corny.
“i would’ve said something about nature but that’s too basic, right?”
tae’s eyes lit up and he gasped out loud.
“exactly! my friends thought i was crazy for not wanting to do that! they just don’t get it”
he huffed and you laughed.
“as students of the arts, we have to make ourselves known somehow”
god, tae wanted to just drag you off and meet jungkook because he felt like his argument was finally valid.
“what if you make your project,, based on memories? taking pictures of everyday life and see the lens out of someone else’s eye”
your suggestion wasn’t the most original one but tae thought hard.
“hmm, that sounds good. maybe the life of a college student? or,,, something joyous to contrast the dark and stress of our lives? i don’t know, i’m not good at suggestions”
at this point, he was kind of desperate for any suggestions that sounded better than basic so he nodded slowly then began thinking about who and what would be in the pictures.
“i thought of using my dog as my model but he’s at my parents’ house and he’s not very cooperative. maybe my friends but they would charge me somehow”
you felt bad for him because you’ve been at a place where you’ve had a blockage in your project. to think this was the most important and highest graded one of his course was definitely more nerve-wracking than your simple ‘What are the symbolisms in Gatsby?’ back in middle school.
then you thought of an idea.
“well,,, i may not be an experienced model but i can be a stand-in? my friend uses me in his cooking videos a lot so i’m not too shy of a camera”
tae stared at you.
“are you sure? you would do that?”
you shrugged and sipped your tea.
“i mean, why not? it’s not too hard, right?”
his grin spread across his face and he excitedly leaned over the railing.
“seriously?! what can i do in return?”
“i don’t have anything right now but i’ll tell you when we’re done, okay?”
he couldn’t believe you were willing to help a stranger like him but his fondness of you even grew.
“wow, what luck! you’re really the best, y/n!”
you nodded smugly.
“i know”
tae scrambled to find his camera which he spotted inside so he rushed to get it while you watched, amused. the padding of his socks announced his arrival and his camera was held delicately in his hands.
“can i,, take one right now?”
you blanched.
“right now?”
he quickly noticed your surprise so he hurriedly waved his hands.
“it’s fine if you don’t want to!”
the excitement in his eyes was too adorable for you to pass up so you chuckled before picking up the newspaper to open it and partially hide your face.
“here. i don’t have any makeup on so try not to get my face but everything else is fine”
tae nodded. a smirk made its way up to your lips and you leaned.
“how do you want me, director?”
the tips of his ears began to burn at the way you looked up at him but he coughed before he shrugged.
“i-uh,, well, however you’re comfortable”
you noticed his nervousness and nodded. you angled yourself in a way that it looked like you were reading the newspaper with one hand which was folded and raised high enough that the only thing peaking from your face was your large spectacles and eyes. the other hand held the tea high and the way you posed looked natural enough for him to take that snapshot.
you continued reading and stopped when he pulled the camera away from his face to review the way the picture came out. of course, you were curious as to how it turned out so you placed your things down and called out to him.
“hm?”
his eyes were wide and you laughed.
“did it turn out good?”
you asked and taehyung eagerly agreed.
“i mean, i need to pull it up in my laptop but this is perfect. when i finish, you want me to send it to you?”
tae was hoping that his excuse sounded convincing enough to get your number but you quickly caught it before nodding and getting up to get a pen.
he watched you return and give him a notepad that held your digits and a small smiley face that he couldn’t help but mirror.
today was a good day.
not only did he finally figure out his project, he also got the cute girl’s number too.
----------------
fun fact:
- jin has a cooking/eating channel called ‘EATJIN’ where he mainly makes cooking videos and eating but sometimes he has daily vlogs where you and the boys show up all the time
- tae’s previous muse was someone from his hometown but something happened o.o
- jungkook is looking for an apartment but he doesn’t want to live with jimin since his cat loves to take socks and underwear and he doesn’t want to repeat the same experience from back then where he accidentally wore jimin’s briefs

Candy Baby ||| Yuta x Reader
Summary: You and your boyfriend are shopping at a special lingerie store. Though not for the reasons that anyone may first expect... Genre: Comedy Warning(s): Swearing, quite low level tho (1x s**t) Word Count: 1027 Theme Song: Santa Baby - Eartha Kitt (or whichever artist you prefer, the number of covers of this song o.O) AN: The 21st December prompt, from @songi-writes, yeah it’s late, but it’s a Christmas present instead! Merry Christmas!!
~~~
You could barely breathe, your sides stabbed repeatedly with giddiness as you laughed so hard you keeled over onto your back on the bed.
This only sparked Yuta to laugh even harder, his hand rest on your arms as the two of you shook. “B...! Ba—bab...y! Are... a-are you—?!” He collapsed onto the duvet too as you let out another howl, shaking your head with tears brimming in your eyes.
“Yuta what have you done?!” you wheezed, clutching at your stomach. “That image is stuck in my head forever! N-now—y-you shit what have you done?!”
He merely cackled.
Yuta had been browsing online stores, trying to decide what to buy several of his fellow groupmates for christmas. He’d only managed to buy presents for Mark and Winwin (no surprise there, he’d bought their presents months in advance) so far, and that left many more members left to buy for. Since all of them were your close friends too, you decided to offer assistance.
The two of you were a strangely efficient team, and managed to buy a multitude of gifts. On the other hand, it had exhausted many options, and for the last few members, the two of you had stagnated. To the point that you jokingly suggested that the two of you buy someone a set of lingerie.
Yuta ran with it, eyes alight and smile wide in glee, as he opened up lingerie store after lingerie store to find the perfect set. After exhausting several websites, you’d headed to the dreaded page 2 of google, desperate to find glory in rosy, satin lace. And that was where the fun had began.
Now, all of the stores had christmas sales, it being the season to be jolly and all. However, one website you had found had the worst lingerie you had ever seen.
We’re talking 100% synthetic plastic, ugly tinsel accent, and two disgusting shades of green and red.  You and your boyfriend had cracked up about it, tearing it to shreds, almost sending a photo of it to Johnny for him to evaluate.
And then—then—Yuta said the magic words:
“Imagine Kun in that.”
You had screamed in horrified delight, the mental image being too much to handle as you fell into fits of laughter, likely worrying the neighbours.
And this was how you were now, rolling on your shoulders as your hands weakly gripped at Yuta’s shirt.
“We should...! We should buy it for him...!” he insisted, as you shook your head desperately.
“We can’t!” you shrieked. “He’d kill us both!”
He whined in disappointment as he pouted, eyes still on fire from joy, as he sat up, retrieving the laptop. “Ok, but we are totally buying him lingerie.”
You wiped your eyes, feeling the air slowly return to your lungs. “Oh, of course! That way he can only kill one of us, at worst.”
“I’ll sacrifice myself for you, don’t worry,” Yuta giggled, fingers flying across the keyboard as he opened google back up and clicked on page three—a destination unheard of by any living being with their soul still intact.
There, he opened up the next store. The website was very clean and minimal, with a delicate rose quartz background and tiny snowflakes dotting the layout.  You raised yourself up on the bed, coming to sit up and lean upon Yuta’s shoulder. Pressing a kiss to his jaw, your eyes swept the store for anything good.
Scrolling down, he almost reached the bottom of the page when you suddenly exclaimed, “Stop!”
You pointed to the penultimate row, at a piece of pure beauty.
The lingerie was called Candy Baby, which made you snort, but it was extremely pretty. Coloured peach with a tinge of pastel pink, it was a two piece with an unwired bralette.  A long bow made of lighter ribbon was embedded neatly at the front, with short flowy sheets of satin that rested no lower than the waist.  The lower half was a loose, delicate skirt, with no extraneous lace designs. It was long enough to cover what needed to be hidden for suspense, but short enough to entice.
You were almost jealous of where it was going.
“That is the one!” you asserted.
He smirked, kissing your forehead, before immediately setting up an account to purchase it. “Good choice, baby. This is going to be hilarious!” He sighed. “You really are the one for me.”
You blushed, nuzzling into his neck to avoid his confident, dazzling stare.
He hummed coyly, almost to the point that it became a purr. “Maybe I should buy you some of this lingerie—”
“Oh my god, Yuta! Stop!”
.
.
.
When Kun opened the box in front of everyone, gathered in the living room, many hushed and leaned in to see what it was.  Only when he held up the delicate rose satin was there pure silence. Only the christmas songs over the stereo in the kitchen could be heard, and it felt so distant.
And then everyone roared into laughter, cheering and patting Kun on the shoulder.
“Oh it’s beautiful, Kun!” Haechan exaggerated, snickering.
“You better enjoy that!” Ten smirked, eyeing the lace before sipping his wine. “Looks to me that it wasn’t overly cheap!”
As Chenle questioned Jisung about how Ten knew that, Johnny was applauding the two of you.  “You absolute legends!” he said. “Makes my present for Jaehyun just look mean!”
Kun meanwhile seemed frozen, his eyes the size of dinner plates as he stared at the lingerie nervously. Then, he looked up at the two of you, giggling from the other side of the room.
He stood silently, lips placed firmly together, the corners ever so slightly upturned as he hid a smile.
“You like your christmas present, Kun?” Yuta sang.
“Yeah! Isn’t it great!” you cried. “It was Yuta’s idea!”
“Hey! It was not! It was your—!”
Kun began to step towards you, bra and panties clenched in his fist.
“Oh, Kun, come on now!” you tutted. “Listen to what Ten said—it was expensive and you should be careful with—!”
This only made him increase his speed.
“Run!” Mark called.
And neither Yuta nor you ignored him.
~~~
AN: I know I said there was a Yuta fic coming ages ago. And there is one! It’s just still in my drafts, half written. So this is like an apology for that too :((

Super Mario Bros. Ice Capades - 1989
To commemorate the SMBIS’s 20th anniversary, here’s the infamous Mario Ice Capades video in high quality. Enjoy!
Original commentary from October 17, 2003
On Thursday, December 7, 1989, ABC presented an Ice Capades special on TV, hosted by Alyssa Milano (of Who's The Boss fame) and Jason Bateman (Silver Spoons; Valerie, Arrested Development). The show had many famous and talented figure skaters, music numbers and comedy acts, including segments featuring Barbie and the Super Mario Bros. This happens to be the 50th Anniversary of the Ice Capades that they taped, as the programs that the hosts and the audience had, with the Mario Bros and Barbie on the back. (The 50th Anniversary Ice Capades Barbie was released at this time also.) When the segment begins, the hosts are backstage when they spot some random people playing Super Mario Bros. Alyssa mentions that she's never played videogames before (*gasp*) and Jason brags to her that he is a master of Nintendo, proclaiming himself to be the "Video Prince." Then he tells her about the plot of Super Mario Bros. [It's interesting to mention that Jason refers to King Koopa as Bowser, because the entire show after this just calls him King Koopa.]
As they talk, they are interrupted when the monitor starts flickering and doing crazy stuff. Jason, who apparently know everything about Nintendo, states that it's a computer virus, which will, and I quote, "release all the evil forces stored up in the computer." @_@ Um...OK, "Mr. Video Prince", whatever you say. Then, who pops up? Yes, it's good ol' King Koopa (NOT Bowser!), played by the late 80's sitcom star Christopher Hewett, a.k.a. Mr. Belvedere. Koopa has released the virus and threatens to take over the world. His plan is very laughable at best, as it implies that a NES can be used to infect computers with deadly viruses, which probably can't happen. That, and he says he doesn't really want the world, but does it anyway because he loves causing trouble. It's nice to have hobbies, I guess.
The Mario set is decent enough. It looks like a 3-D version of the 8-bit SMB1, with pixelated clouds and trees in the background and a castle in the middle. However, it looks way better than what Mr. Hewett had to wear. His costume is very tacky and ugly. He doesn't even have anything over his face, just horribly applied green face paint around his moustache. His horns looked like dangly jesters' bells and he's wearing horrible plaid pants and a geeky red bow tie. On top of that, he's riding on a moving castle. You know the forts at the end of each level of SMB1? Yep, he's roving about on the ice on a castle. o.O
Koopa calls out his minions to destroy different computer parts that NES's don't have, including 2 Green Koopa Troopas, 2 miscolored white Goombas, 1 Hammer Bro (two Troopas and only ONE Hammer Brother?), a Red Paratroopa and a Spiny. The baddies' costumes were based on their official Nintendo designs, though they looked very non-threatening and somewhat cuddly-looking. The Goombas and the Spiny, about a meter or so tall, do seem to be radio-controlled, or have skaters crouched or something inside them. After this, Koopa pompously sings about how evil he is, with his baddies dancing around him...wearing plaid pants...on a moving castle...oooookaaay. Mr. Hewett had a very cultured, polite-sounding British accent, not like Cartoon Koopa's voice at all. He sang pretty well, but the lyrics were shallow and kinda childish. The song is short, thankfully, and only proves that Koopa can create plans for world domination much better than he can sing silly egotistical songs. After this, we see the Princess Toadstool (can't call her Peach yet, as this is still 1989, or all time and space will unravel around us and disappear), who has a huge, horrid mascot-like head and a cliché Mae West-ish Hollywood voice, off to the side with her subjects of plumber pawns with her. Another note is that the Princess's costume is based on the official Nintendo design; she has blond hair, instead of red/brown from the cartoons.  Princess Pea....Toadstool, helpless to stop Koopa, then summons the Mario Bros., who for some reason arrived from the sky with the help of their trusty support wires. @_@ [Here's something I just noticed: In the scene when the Princess talks to her people before she calls the Bros. from the heavens, you can see the Marios behind her, with their backs turned to the audience. Sloppy editing.] After being briefed on the situation by Princess, Mario and Luigi, with their very stereotypical Italian accents and oversized, misshapened mascot heads, protect the Maiden in Distress from the horrible men in Koopa Troopa suits. The Princess helps out by sending out carts containing kids from the audience to assist the Bros. Koopa then scoffs at the Marios for sending children to do a man's job. So, one by one, Koopa sends out his legions of dumpy villains to defeat the Bros. However, Luigi dons his airgun/cardboard box out of nowhere and mercilessly kills each bad guy with sparkler blasts that are later added in. The effect of the baddies dying is just crude and leaves one to think how it'll work without the superimposed TV special effects of them just fading away and disappearing to low-budget heaven. Koopa, realizing that his army of extras is failing him, decides to attack the Bros. himself on his mobile fortress with his Spiny. The Marios and the children in the carts surround Koopa, totally ignoring Spiny altogether from the onslaught of death and sparkly insanity. After Mario spouts a remarkably bland joke/pun, the children vanquish the Koopa King with their big foam wrenches and dirty plungers in a blast of sparklers. Cheesey fanfare music plays afterwards, proclaiming the death of the Koopa King, as the children are returned back to the audience, without getting any complementary gift for being a part in the show.
In the end, the Princess, who now just looks like a giant, mutated blow-up doll, congratulates the Marios by giving them the "Purple Plunger for Bravery" or "The Incredibly Cheap Cardboard Hero Prize.". Then, the Bros. have a disgraceful squabble about bragging rights. Note that in all this, Mario does absolutely NOTHING to help out. Luigi killed all the minor foes and commanded the children to kill Koopa. Lazy, lazy Mario... Backstage, the monitor that the hosts were watching all this goes back to normal, then for no reason, Alyssa announces that she wins the game by default, although she doesn't even play it at all, leaving "Jason the Video Prince" in a stupor.
----
More research led me to a site belonging to a Mr. Michael Baroto, a costume designer who made these all the characters for the show, including the baddies, the Bros. and Peach. Apparently, he had only 3 months to make three sets of ten costumes, as well as two other costumes for another show. Seeing that he had to make 30 costumes in the short a time span, this would explain why the Marios and Peach looked so rushed. They don't do his talents justice, however, as his other works, including puppets, dolls and marionettes, are very creative and well-made. There are production photos of the Mario costumes in the previous link. If you ever get to read this, Mr. Baroto, please don't take my negative comments personally. ^^;;;;;;
Here's something I just noticed after watching this over again. Apparently, they deviated from what they'd usually do at a live show and made it extra special for the TV show by adding those "special" effects and camera angles. Also, they taped this when the audience wasn't present, as the seating couldn't been seen at all. They do show some stock footage of people watching all this and laughing at the bad puns, and of the kids getting out of the carts when the show was over, never getting compensated with gifts and whatnot for killing off the "mighty" King Koopa.
However, doing this just made the show worse, as there were obvious editing mistakes. For example, you can see enemies that were killed off later hanging about off to the side when the children return to the audience. In another instance, right at the end, you can see a lone boy sitting on the ice in the background playing with a wrench behind Princess Toadstool before she hands out the awards. Then he disappears in the next shot. And let's not forget the earlier example of the Marios already on stage before they arrive from the sky.  Very very sloppy, even for late 80's television. Of course, this was a time when little kids wouldn't care less if the show was crappy or not. It had Mario, and that's all that mattered.

Got our lazy asses out this weekend because is our ~first year~ celebration
We thought quite hard about what to eat for this occasion then I randomly say stay home cook steak for meee during CB (but that didn't turn out well 😂). So yea, dine out it shall be lolz
Wore my falsies out but hor I think I didn't put too well leh. Feel like my eyes became smaller?! The whole time I'm damn conscious about it
But anyways we ended up at Burger+ because cheap food keke got some 50% discount gg on. The chicken nubbad, got give gloves some more. And the burger! I like the chicky burger, the sauce was goooood. Fries - no go.
After dinner we were planning to get some drinks at CQ. But it started raining quite heavily and we had no umbrella :( so we just use denim jackets to cover ourselves and walk over. I brought a cropped jacket so it was quite small to cover myself already, but qt yj gave me his jacket and used mine 😭😭😭 so tiny on him LOL only can cover his head HAHAHHAHA
We are bar noobies so when we found out Level Up still not opened, and Chupitos like shots-only bar, we walked the entire stretch to see see. Trip to Japan recap! (Part 3 - Himeji, Hakone and Tokyo)
Hello all,
Here’s part 1 in case you missed it:
http://utsukushiishoujomangas.tumblr.com/post/164067970528/trip-to-japan-recap-part-1
Aaand Part 2:
http://utsukushiishoujomangas.tumblr.com/post/164134921428/trip-to-japan-recap-part-2-kyoto-and-nara
Our primary method of long-distance transportation: Shinkansen (Bullet train)!
Tumblr media
We dropped off our luggage in Osaka and left to visit Himeji Castle, widely regarded as the best intact Japanese castle (survived 400 years through WW2 and the 1995 earthquake!), its original construction dating back to 1333 (rebuilt in the 1600s).
Tumblr media
. (so that users on mobile can see the second picture)
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
The castle itself sits on a hill, making the views from inside spectacular!
Tumblr media
The breeze through the windows is also very refreshing~
Tumblr media
It’s a bit hard to get good pictures inside due to the sun’s glare.
Tumblr media
The castle itself has 7 floors, all of which are accessible through very steep wooden stairs.
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
Sign at the entrance of the castle complex.
Tumblr media
Back in Osaka!
Tumblr media
We were too tired to go out explore Osaka, so we just grabbed takoyaki at Shin-Osaka Station (Osaka being known for street food style food; eg: takoyaki, okonomiyaki, etc). So no Dotonbori/Glico Man, Denden Town, Abeno Harukas, Umeda Sky Building, Osaka Aquarium, Osaka Castle, Hep Five Ferris Wheel pictures to show here… >.<
The next day we went to Hakone, a region known for its picturesque views (with Mount Fuji in the background if weather cooperates) and onsen (hot springs) within reasonable distance from Tokyo (1h30 from Shinjuku station) making it the perfect weekend getaway for Tokyoites. The bus ride winding through the valleys isn’t really a pleasant one (tight roads, many abrupt turns) but from what I understand, we passed through the old Tokaido road linking Tokyo and Kyoto. The road was once made for foot travel, not cars so that makes sense.
The view over Lake Ashi was worth it though.
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
Our hotel was in Ryokan style of traditional Japanese inns.
Tumblr media
The price was indeed expensive, but it included a hearty Japanese-style dinner served in our room and a breakfast.
Tumblr media
It was hard to take good pictures of the lake view owing to the sunlight glare, but it looked much brighter IRL.
Tumblr media
We visited Hakone Shrine next.
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
.
Tumblr media
Two of Lake Ashi’s famous sights, the floating Torii gate, along with…
Tumblr media
The pirate ship! xD
Tumblr media
The sight just outside our hotel.
Tumblr media
No pictures of the onsen (for obvious reasons) but I can say that anime/manga portrays it accurately (other than the usual tropes surrounding it).
The next day we took a cruise on the aforementioned pirate ship, and managed to get a glimpse of Mount Fuji (the tall faded mountain in the distance). 8D
Tumblr media
Odawara Station, where we changed to the Shinkansen.
Tumblr media
Back in Tokyo Station, we passed by the Suica store. Suica is an IC card, essentially a rechargeable card with electronic money used mainly to pay for train/metro fares (transport fares are mostly based on distance traveled in Japan, so buying a ticket every time you go out is a huge hassle), but it can also be used in many stores.
Tumblr media
The penguin mascot is so cute. ^^
Tumblr media
How Tokyo Station looks like from the outside.
Tumblr media
We went out in Shibuya for supper. Here’s the famous Shibuya 109, that probably appears in every manga where the protagonists go to Shibuya for shopping. xD
Tumblr media
The famous Shibuya Scramble about to unfold.
Tumblr media
Mario-like go kart rides. Not sure if legal (foreigners driving vehicles on your streets without permits) but looks cool. :D
Tumblr media
We then went to karaoke. Sooo cheap (360 yen per hour if I remember correctly; ~3.25 USD) and even the English song selection is better than those where I’m from, which is kind sad in a way. o.O
Tumblr media
The next day we wanted to go to Mashiko, a little town known for its pottery, but got a bit confused on how to take the very local train there. Two young JR staff at Shimodate Station helped us out but after much lost time we decided to go back to Tokyo anyway. Here’s some pictures from your typical countryside Japanese train station.

Next up is Ueno Park. This is Saigo Takamori’s statue, a tragic figure in Japanese history. A samurai from Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu, he helped the Imperial faction win against Shogunate forces during the Boshin War (civil war between modernist forces advocating the restoration of power from the Shogun to the Emperor and the Tokugawa Shogunate). Thereafter, disgruntled samurai in his home province rebelled because their samurai privileges were being stripped. Takamori was personally against the rebellion, but eventually agreed to lead it and died in battle against the very forces he helped establish. He is the inspiration for Hollywood’s 2003 film The Last Samurai.
Tumblr media
Ueno Park also has many museums, like the National Museum of Nature and Science, which has a nice whale statue in front. :D
Tumblr media
We didn’t go there though, instead opting for the Tokyo National Museum, Japan’s largest art museum. The pavilion buildings are nice-looking.
Tumblr media
No pictures from inside as that would drag this post on even more. :P
Tumblr media
Back in Ueno Park.
Tumblr media
The top of Ueno Station.

I went to Yokosuka alone the next day, a city with a strong naval heritage (hosts a major Japanese and American naval base).

Tumblr media
I went there for the Mikasa, a preserved pre-dreadnaught battleship from 1902. What can I say, I like naval stuff. I won’t post the other 1.1 GB pics of it I took. >:D

Night shopping at Akihabara again.

Next up is Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple.
Tumblr media
Tourist-filled, but Nakamise Shopping Street in front of it is a great spot for souvenir-shopping.

Our final day was spent mostly in and around Harajuku. First stop is Meiji-jingu, dedicated to the first modern (post 1868) Japanese emperor, Emperor Meiji.
Tumblr media
There was a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony when we were there:

Many foreign tourists here, so you won’t be the only one if you hang your Ema wishing plaque here for all to see. ^^
Tumblr media
No visit to Harajuku would be complete without a stroll through Takeshita Street. Very touristy. Pretty sure it’s no longer the “central point of Tokyo teenage culture” anymore like it’s advertised in all tourist brochures.
Tumblr media
View on Shibuya Station from our airbnb apartment on the last day. Needless to say, I was very sad that day.

 Shibuya Station.

Hachiko and the Green Car in front of Shibuya Station.

I reached the maximum photo limit (30) while drafting this post, so I’ll make a final post with miscellaneous stuff about my trip (food, drinks, non-shoujo otaku stuff). So keep watching out for that one. Hope it was entertaining ^^

A bunch o’ them. Some are old because I’ve been bad. :(
For @getmygameon, @penig, @shaonharryandpannisim, @didilysims, @pensblr, @esotheria-sims, @celebkiriedhel, @leavealight-on, @sim-boo, @cedanyblee, @holleyberry, annnnnnd @clericalrodent...
Omg a pregnant sim that knows how to feed themselves. Its going to snow o.o
I dunno, all my Sims take pretty good care of themselves in terms of filling their own motives as well as gaining skill points. It’s probably because of the mods I have that nuke a portion of the behaviors they can engage in, so that they are more directed towards things that actually do something for them. Also, I’ve made lots of objects have autonomous interactions, so it keeps them busy and happy. :) Of course, it makes things like Asylum Challenges a little less fun, but I generally prefer to have Sims that I don’t have to micromanage, as I’m mostly a hands-off sort of player.
penig replied to your photoset “Cherry, nesting. In her pajamas-that-are-really-underwear. (I really...”
Sounds like a useful, fulfilling life to me. I wouldn't want it, myself. But somebody should.
It’s a good life for a Popularity Sim, I think. Cherry’s Romance/Popularity, but she’s always been more interested in the popularity-type things than the romance-type things. Well, except for woohoo, but she’s perfectly happy to keep that within the triad.
shaonharryandpannisim replied to your photo “Mars the wee puppy grew into Mars the great big hairy...”
You always get the best Pets !! Look at the cute ball of floof
He is very floofy! And I dunno, I tend to get fugly dogs, at least those that are game-generated and not the “premade” ones in the adoption bin. Cute cats, fugly dogs. Poor dogs. This one’s not so fugly, at least.
didilysims replied to your post “*sigh*”
Doesn't help that tumblr takes a lot of internet juice to run! My poor shoddy internet doesn't like it much, and some days refuses to load everything, though other sites will run fine. I feel your pain.
Yeah, all those pics and GIFs and stuff to load can really gum up the works. I’m used to it being slow in Colorado, where the only option available is really, really crappy DSL. It’s cheap and it’s the only option for the moment, so it’s not really worth complaining about. But here in CA, where we’ve been for over a year now, we have that fiberoptic jazz, and it’s usually really, really fast and it’s expensive. So, when you pay a lot for fast internet, you expect it to be...Well, fast. All the time. :) But apparently they were doing something the past couple days and I guess they’re done because it’s back to normal now. :)
pensblr replied to your photoset “For the anon who requested them, here’s the mangled version of Spaik’s...”
Still loving your hi-res textures on...all the things. Thank you!
You’re welcome! I still worry that it’ll be pushing it too much...but then I remember that most of the converted stuff from other games is high-res/high-poly, and since I don’t have very much of that stuff AND I don’t have an unreasonable amount of hi-res custom hair, either, I’m figuring I, at least, can go sort of hog-wild with objects and walls/floors. Not so sure about everyone else, though...
esotheria-sims replied to your photoset “For the anon who requested them, here’s the mangled version of Spaik’s...”
*snags* Your hi-res recolors will be the death of me...
I promise to say nice things at your funeral. ;)
celebkiriedhel replied to your post “*sigh*”
More importantly - check your ping - it might be that one of the networks may be struggling. Its worth talking to your internet provider to see.
Yeah, the hubbo called them. It’s his job to do phone things, since I hate talking on phones. Apparently, they were doing something or something was down (I kind of tuned out all the technobabble that I don’t understand), but it’s fixed now. YAY! I’m just glad it wasn’t a problem on our end.
getmygameon replied to your photo “Pop! (I love her OMGWTF?! face.)”
More like a 'no! I just bought this! Damnit I knew I shouldn't have had that extra cinnamon roll last night!' Face XD
Heh. Yeah, pregnancy bumps AND getting fat both kinda happen very suddenly to Sims. Like, 0 to 60 in 0.1 seconds. :) I imagine it might be hard to know which is which, at first. “Am I pregnant? Or am I just fat?” Then again, all the barfing should be a clue to them, I’d think...
leavealight-on replied to your photo “Aaron barged in to hog the piano.”
Apologies if you've already been asked this, but where are those curtains from? They're gorgeous :)
They are a recolor I have of the Holy Simoly “Simply Elegant” curtains. I’m sorry to say that I have no idea who made that particular recolor or where it might be found since I have hundreds of recolors of those things, gathered over years. I’m sorry! But I agree they’re nice. But then, orange IS one of my favorite colors. :)
sim-boo replied to your post “And of course the next morning, Amelia rolled up the usual...”
I like how its not like "I WANT THIS PERSON TO DIE" cause that would be too direct instead they just imply it
I imagine the people who do the game ratings might be a little iffy on Sims outright wishing death on people. :) But it is still pretty much the same thing. Even more vicious is wanting them to be eaten by a cowplant so that the pissed-off Sim can drink their life essence. Yow!
didilysims replied to your photoset “New lots! Captioned.”
They look so cool with their Lot Adjuster adjustedness. (And even without--pretty snazzy buildings.)
Thanks! I’m in love with the Lot Adjuster a little bit. So many cool things you can do with it! I wish Mootilda was still with us, so that I could thank her more for all of her utilities for the game. :(
cedanyblee replied to your photoset “Here are @nimitwinklesims‘s horizonless skies, edited to be compatible...”
That's the sims 2?! Whaaaa- so pretty.
It is indeed TS2! Completely unedited pics, too. With all of the stuff that’s been made for the game in the past couple of years, particularly the stuff that affects neighborbood view, I think it’s the prettiest game of the four. But, I could be a wee bit biased. ;)
holleyberry replied to your post “*is contemplating building a custom uni* *is probably insane* *has...”
Yes! There are so many things you can do in this game.
I know! There are so many things that I STILL haven’t done, even though I’ve been playing for almost 10 years. And I see people saying, “Oh, I’m so bored with the game!” and I’m like...how? How can you be? You can do literally ANYTHING with it! Boredom is not possible! I mean, I can see being bored with a particular family or even a particular neighborhood. But with the game as a whole? Not possible.
penig replied to your photo “These two barged in and…um… Well, he’s always admired her at her pool...”
And she needs to get on with her life. No one can mourn forever.
This is true. But seriously, does she need to get on with her life with her brother-in-law??? Because, judging by her wants, she really, really wants to. But A) I’m not sure I wanna go there. I mean, I’m perfectly OK with doing in the game some things that freak other people out, but...I dunno, for me that’s pushing it. And B) Simon doesn’t seem to feel the same. Yeah, he’ll mess with her if they’re together, but he doesn’t roll wants for her. Probably because for him, she’s just one of many.
clericalrodent replied to your photo “Owen is just slightly kitty-obsessed. As in, he pretty much does...”
Ooh, you should totally get some custom kitties to spice up the genetics game.
I might, if I do more breeding. As it is, I’m happy with just what the game generates. Same as I am with Sims, for that matter. Once in a blue moon I’ll download a Sim, but generally I’m happy with what my game generates.

With WonFes 2017 Winter over, it’s time to post the obligatory wishlist!  ^o^
Even though there were a lot of exciting figure announcements and prototype reveals at Wonder Festival 2017 Winter today, I don't feel my wallet is in too much danger.  There were a lot of Nendoroids that looked interesting, but I likely won't buy.  And the figures I ABSOLUTELY POSITVELY HAVE TO PREORDER, were fairly few (at least compared to previous WonFes).
Below, the squares shaded darkly are figures I likely won't buy.  They caught my eye, but seriously, I'd rather spend my money on other Nendoroids.   The squares clouded in white are figures that if I was forced into a corner, I might be able to give up.  But it'd be nice if I didn't have to.
Tumblr media
Good Smile is going to kill my wallet if they announce more Harvest Moons!  ;u;  If every Crypton Future Media Vocaloid gets a Harvest Moon version, I don’t know what I’m going to do.  Those costumes are just too pretty.  XwX
I feel like I'm obligated to get Figma Utena and Nendoroids Ed & Al, but I don't feel as strongly about those fandoms anymore, enough to justify the money those figures cost.  On the other hand, I have a rule about not passing up merchandise from an old fandom, for that reason alone.  The last time I passed up a Devil Hunter Yohko artbook, just because it was no longer my all-consuming obsession, I regretted it.  And I kept hunting for it at each succeeding con.  *That* is a regret.  Which is why I bought Figma Hikaru Shidou, even though I haven't been into CLAMP's manga, let alone Magic Knight Rayearth for years.  So when I see Utena, Ed & Al, my nostalgia dictates that I preorder them, even though my current obsessions say that I shouldn't be spending on old fandoms like Utena and FMA.
I'm not really into these paritcular swords, but I've got a completionist problem.  * I already have Kashuu Kiyomitsu, so I have to get Yamatonokami Yasusada, right?  And Yasusada has a generic hakama!  Before Touken Ranbu Nendoroids, it was so hard to find nice, generic, male wafuku that could go on any character.  Still, even now, though it's gotten easier to get hakama from Tourabu, it's hard to find male kimono or yukata.  So I snatch up any versatile male wafuku wearing Nendoroid, I can find.   * Izuminokami Kanesada isn't really a character I'm particularly attached to, since I'm more a Dategumi fan than a Shinsengumi fan, but I've always liked his character design.  It even managed to make me ignore the long hair, even though I usually don't like that character design on males.  His costume was just elaborate enough, and the color scheme, contrasting between the deep red and intense blues, just really pop.  ^_^   * So that being said, I really shouldn't get Horikawa Kunihiro.  His costume design is closer to modern Western and I'd rather throw my money at wafuku designs.  But damn it, he's got the same intense blue contrasting against dark hair, just like Izuminokami.  ~_~;  That contrasting color scheme---or rather, contrasting intensity or value scale---just work too well on me.  And after seeing Horikawa in the Touken Ranbu Hanamaru anime, I'd feel bad if I split him up from the senpai partner he idolizes.  ~__~!  Anyway, I already preordered his brother (Yamanbagiri Kunihiro), so my completionist itch should be happy about that.  ...Even though the Kunihiro brothers don't seem very close...  x_x   * As for Ookanehira!  You can't trick me into wanting your Nendoroid!  ~w~!  I told myself not to buy any more characters I didn't already know!  (Unless they were exceptionally cute!)  I don't care if your eyes and hair color remind me of one of my main character OCs!  Nor if your seiyuu is Ono Yuki!  You're too full of yourself and I should be spending my money on cuter characters!  Stay back, I say!  Keep your charms away from me!  ~W~!
The Disney Nendoroids are cute and I like those classic "2nd Renaissance" movies, along with Tim Burton, but not enough to get figures.  But if I ran into them at a con or something, really cheap, and there was nothing else I was spending at during a small con, I might go ahead and get them.  Like what happened with Nendoroid Anna.
I didn't include Nendoroid Yuri, because I already preordered him.  It's strange that I'm certain about getting Nendoroid Victor, even though I'm not as totally obsessed with Yuri on Ice as everyone else seems to be.  But despite YOI not taking over my life, I still do like the characters.  They're sweet!  And I want that ambiance in my display cases!
Karasuno Nendoroids.  No question there.  I just want all my Karasuno starters.  Announcing Yamaguchi and Sawamura together, when there are only 2 more starters on Karasuno, makes me think they'll be announcing them in pairs.  Here's to hoping for some Asahi and Tanaka Nendoroids!  ^o^  And if they decide to make a Nendoroid Ennoshita, I'll consider him.
Japan.  Kiku Honda.  My rule about still collecting for old fandoms, as if they're still my current obsession, applies here.  Except that my Hetalia fandom doesn't feel that long ago.  Probably because I saw Hetalia the World Twinkle at AkibaFest2016.  Let's hope that if we show demand for Japan, USUK will get some Nendoroids too.  *o*!
Nendoroid More Dress-up sets are my favorite Nendoroid more.  The outfits are so nicely generic and versatile, and help put a stop to me buying Nendoroids of characters I have no attachment to, just for their wardrobe.  (I've given Masamune & Yukimura enough wardrobe options already---but I just can't stop!  It's for DateSana!  ;o; )  It’ll be great to put some period era Nendoroids, uniformed characters, and fantasy costumed characters into a modern AU.  Groomsmen for those Nendoroid More wedding sets...Haikyuu boys in formal wear...my KanColle girls as office ladies...  *U*  I could make a cubicle diorama!  O.O  Still waiting for male wafuku Nendoroid More sets, but until then, any Nendoroid More Dress-up sets are always welcome!!!  ^U^
Ice Kirby is so cute and I love blue.  But if I wasn't willing to get original Kirby, with all his cuteness, and I didn't get MetaKnight, despite his cuteness, then I should probably save my money.  I wasn't deluded for a second into buying that robot armor Kirby.  It's on my wishlist because I just like to look at it.  ^^;  I mean, what the heck is that giant, cute thing?!  ^o^
Nendoroid More face cases are cute, but if it comes down to it, those are the first things I cut out of my budget.  After all, I skipped on that Konnosuke faceplate case, and I love Touken Ranbu.  Still, that penguin and fishing bear are ADORABLE.  When I saw the penguine case's announcement last year, I wanted to get it to re-create Chiyo's costume scenes from Azumanga Daioh.  ^u^
I'm not watching Re:Zero, but Emilia is beautiful!  *.*  I have a weakness for pastel hair and her outfit, on top of that, is just so pretty.  Her character design just screams "ingenue" deredere, and that's my favorite type of waifu (alongside kuudere and sometimes dandere).  And if I remember correctly the spoiler I heard once, then she could also be one of my favorite mythological archetypes, the "universal mother goddess".
I'm not going to buy a Racing Miku.  Let's be honest.  They always look so cool, but they're $80, instead of the usual $50-$60, because they're supposed to support Good Smile's racing team.  But damn, this mint green fairy is cute!  I thought it hurt to pass up the knight themed Racing Miku.  But this is adorable!  ;w;  And I had needed a green female Nendoroid for my rainbow figure photos.
I was flabbergasted when I saw the Lum Nendoroid and the Rinne Nendoroid.  I thought it might be a hoax, a different figure line from Nendoroid, or maybe even from years ago, long out of print.  But it's actually just one of those Nenodroids made by a different company; Good Smile only does the distribution.  (Like Tomytec's Wixoss Nendoroids.)  So it's not even on Good Smile's WHL4U website, which catalogs all their WonFes announcements.  It might be too easy to not realize when these are even released.  But I absolutely have to support Rumiko Takahashi Nendoroids.  I'm more a Ranma 1/2 fan, than Urusei Yatsura, and I've barely read much Rin-ne.  But if we support these, then maybe Play Future will make some Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, or Maison Ikkoku Nendoroids.  I would go nutz if Mermaid Saga Nendoroids were ever announced.
The kimono Nendoroids for Puella Magi Madoka Magica are an absolute buy.  I never thought I wanted more than just Homura and Madoka, but if all the girls are going to get kimono Nendorids, then it's a good time to get the entire Holy Quintet.  ^-^
Last but not least, Nendoroid More sets for Halloween and Christmas.  I really hope these are Dress-up sets and not just some accessories.  I'm a clay crafter; I can make little accessories on my own.  So these better be full-blown outfits.  Halloween is my favorite holiday and these would just be so useful for holiday figure photos.  I'm really looking forward to more info about these sets.  ^o^
It was a really great WonFes.  And right on my birthday, it made the best present.  ^u^!  Hopefully, despite this long wishlist, I'll be able to keep things civil with my wallet.  ^^;

One day out of the blue, Rossi finds an unmarked envelope in his mailbox. It’s big, but thin and it doesn’t feel heavy. When he opens it, all that’s inside is a single sheet of paper with a couple lines of typed text on it. “It’s been a while, agent. I remember you. I sure hope you remember me. Look inside the envelope. P.S. I told him to smile for the camera, but I think something was holding him back.” (1/2)
At the bottom of the envelope is a photo, the kind taken with one of those cheap, disposable cameras. It depicts Reid, tied to a chair, his brown eyes wet with frightened tears as he stares into the camera over the gag in his mouth. There’s more writing on the back of the photo. “More to follow!” (2/2)
o.O
I was just enjoying some chile and cornbread, and now this???? It's not living rent free in my brain?????? Help???
Sjskekdjjsks I wish I didn't have so many writing obligations bc this honestly sounds like such a cool thing to write!!
