Japanese Neo Decora Wants Your Vote 😀
Ito is one of the well known new generation Neo Decora in Harajuku. She is also a first year fashion college student and she works at a shop Takeshita Street. She wants everyone to Like on this photo on her Instagram so that she and her friends can win a fashion contest at her school.
Ito is trying to learn English from her international fashion loving friends in Harajuku, her international friends at fashion college (the three girls with her in the photo linked above are from China, Taiwan and Korea), and while talking to people she meets at her job on the famous Takeshita Dori tourist shopping street in Harajuku. Her English has improved a lot in the year we've known her, and she is fearless when it comes to trying to communicate in English.

Harajuku
in the many times i’ve visited Tokyo in the past, i’ve never really ventured into Harajuku other than exiting Harajuku Station and heading to Meiji-jingu. after my morning visit to Shimokitazawa, i figured that i’d take a walk around Takeshita-dori and see what the dealie-o was about.
a side observation, it was a tad sad that the old Harajuku Station building has been torn down to make way for a more non-descript modern iteration. while i understand that renewals are very much a Japanese thing, it’s sometimes a shame to see traditional and oftentimes quirky buildings being demolished for the sake of urban development. made me regret not photographing the old Harajuku Station properly (along with the recently demolished Nakagin tower).
exiting the renewed Harajuku Station, i came across a pair of street buskers in front of the station, singing their merry little hearts out. this coming right after my visit to Shimokitazawa, i absolutely cannot help but relate this rather cute coincidence to a similar scene in “Bocchi the Rock”. crossing over to Takeshita-dori, i was rather taken aback by how bloody crowded the narrow street is. in a post-COVID era, you wouldn’t catch me squirming my way through that crowd. i decided to detour a little and make my way through the alleyways that lead to the less crowded inner sections of Takeshita-dori. these smaller streets were far more pleasant to navigate - with all the quaint little fashion, accessory, cafes, and beauty salons you’d typically associate with the “Harajuku aesthetic”. not quite my jam, but to see the people living the various variations of the Harajuku aesthetic in reality rather than just online was pretty neat! plus all the quaint alleyways with hidden cafes, shops, and the odd pet cafe was a delight to see. i didn’t stay long to photograph, owing to the intense crowd that could easily sweep one off their feet if you’re not paying attention, plus the presence of touts at the end of Takeshita-dori kind of soured my mood to stick around, so i walked on up until the equally crowded Omotesando and left after my feet started begging for mercy.

He quietly knocked upon shoji blocking the passage to his room, '' Miguel? '' His question prolonged as if confining within 'am I disturbing?'.
'' I wanted to thank you for how thoughtful you are with Mimiko and Nanako. ''
The sound is subtle but noticeable in the peaceful quietude of their living arrangements. Miguel glances up from his literature and sets it aside, pushing his glasses higher up the bridge of his nose. He's more the type who saves conversation for face to face interactions, so he moves to open the door himself.
As soon as the thin barrier of wood and paper is slid aside, he smiles at the other man.
"You don't need to thank me, Suguru. They usually don't get an opportunity like this, so making the most of the day was on my mind anyway. They seemed to have fun," he comments fondly, thinking back to all of the selfies taken and goodies brought back from Otome-sando and other locales in Tokyo.
"They particularly liked Takeshita-dori, the place was pretty packed. I'm sure they have lots of stories and tons of clothes to show off, assuming they haven't already."
Miguel glances back into his room and gestures to his electric kettle and tray of various loose leaf teas.
"Did you want to come in? I'm about to make some tea. Bet you've never had it the way we prepare it in West Africa," he offers with a chuckle, wondering if Geto will be able to handle the strength.

Protip from someone who lives in Japan: if you go to Takeshita-dori and walk down, there’s an anime shop on the second floor of a particular building that might have what you’re looking for. It’s halfway down the street, above an innerwear shop.
Hope you get the AOT goods XD
OOO I'm headed there tomorrow I'll definitely be on the lookout THANK YOUUU
