on object sleeping habits

something that has been very heavily debated in the community are object sleeping habits, how they sleep, the science behind it or whether they even need to sleep at all. this post aims to go a little more in depth about it, though it won't cover everything.
for one, the anatomy and biology differs wildly between families and even individual object species. this of course affects their sleeping habits and even their circadian rhythm.
with people and animals, the way they sleep is much more obvious. humans are granted the freedom of sleeping comfortably on their backs or curled up on their sides without much issue (aside from certain health complications that may arise due to the condition(s) an individual might have.) many mammals sleep curled up, or on their sides. birds sleep with their heads tucked in their wings, or in flight if you're a swift. bats hang upside down and horses can sleep standing up on lying down. crocodiles shut off one part of their brain in order to keep a lookout or maintain flight. swifts remain in the sky for most of their lives and only ever land due to sickness or to nest, which means they fly in their sleep too. so this begs the question, how do objects sleep?
it's different for every species. due to their wild differences in anatomy as discussed earlier, they often have to learn unique adaptations that help them thrive. this extends to sleep as well. for the longest time, it was thought that objects did not need to sleep at all, though recent observations have shown otherwise. it wouldn't be feasible to cover every object's sleeping habits and patterns, so i'll be going into some more recent studies.
for one, as with the images above, objects that have flat bases or rounded bodies may find laying on their backs or sides difficult or uncomfortable. these objects sleep with their legs tucked underneath them, sitting upright or leaned against a wall or other surface. occasionally they may be found laying down if it is comfortable, but it is not often.
it also isn't uncommon to see boxes dozing off within seconds, limbs tucked beneath them, or for coins to flop onto their backs. both of these objects have body structures that compromise their abilities to rest comfortably in any other position.
objects that have a tendency to roll, like glasses or cylindrical shaped objects may rest on their backs or sides with their arms propped up by their elbows, providing a stop to keep them in place. these species tend to be very light sleepers as well, so that in the event of a threat they can awaken quickly and spring upright. this especially applies to glass objects, who exhibit unihemispheric sleep in order to remain vigilant (in other words, they sleep with only one part of their brains at a time). they are also prone to night terrors, and tend to sleep in groups that alternate between keeping watch.

Hope you dont mind an angsty request but
Can i request Kieran, Carmine, and Drayton see (or heard for Drayton’s part) the reader in a comatose state after taking the blow that was meant for Kieran when Terapagos went out of control. Like they, in the moment, sacrifice themself for Kieran and was somehow still standing after taking the hit but after they caught Terapagos, they immediatley fainted and havent woken up ever since.

Kieran
Instead of summoning your 'raidon, you shoved him aside and took the full brunt of the tera energy-infused blast, not caring what happened to you.
As long as he was safe.
He couldn't understand why you'd do this for him.
Even after going on that angry tirade about you, even after he caught Terapagos with a master ball solely to "get even" with you....you chose to save his life when you could've just saved yourself, Carmine, and Briar.
How could you be so kind and selfless to someone like him? Who's done nothing but talk about how much he envied you?
And somehow you're still standing, convincing him to fight by your side so you could both quell the legendary's fury.
Seeing the light return to his eyes made you smile as your pokemons' combined strength defeated it, with Kieran deciding to let you properly catch it.
What nobody expected, though, was for you to pass out shortly after you picked up the pokeball you used..
Your 'raidon got everybody safely out of Area Zero, but you still haven't woken up and were rushed to the hospital.
The attack left you in a comatose-like state, according to doctors, and there's no telling when you'll awaken...if ever.
There was overwhelming tera energy coming from your body, which caused any Pokémon within the room to start terastalizing themselves. So you had to be isolated, having only human visitors.
Of course, Kieran was the most devastated.
Now he might never get the chance to apologize to you..and it's all because he got obsessed with defeating you and was willing to use a dangerous legendary to do just that.
This was all his fault.
If you were to die thinking he still hated you...he'd never forgive himself.
He definitely doesn't wanna think about you reincarnating into a Phantump and haunting him for the rest of his life.
He visits as often as he can, holding your hand while he talks to you.
While he's not sure if you could even hear what he was saying, but somehow he believes you're listening.
"I went too far, [y/n]..I only ever wanted to be like you. But instead I....I-I did this to you. I did this to someone who still believed in me. Someone who still saw me as....a-as a friend..." His voice breaks, never having felt such remorse in his entire life. "I'm so, so sorry...please wake up soon."
Although he had let go of his bitterness towards you entirely, his bad sleeping/eating habits are still there, and there's not much that anybody can do to help him cope.
With every visit, he grows more desperate for a positive update on your condition, chatting with you and always ending with a plea for you to wake up.
Hell, he's even willing to become friends with Drayton again if that's what it took to see your eyes open.
When you do finally awaken after the tera energy readings have dropped to practically zero, you see Kieran asleep in the chair beside you, his hair messy and reminiscent of what it looked like a year ago.
You muster up enough strength to lightly ruffle it, and that's what makes him jerk awake, shocked.
At first he thinks he's still dreaming when he sees you're now conscious...but when the doctors confirm you're gonna make a full recovery, he just collapses into your waiting arms and sobs into your shoulder, having held back all of his tears until now.
You simply comfort him, reassuring that you didn't blame him at all.
It was you who chose to sacrifice yourself.
And you'd do it all over again.
Carmine
Seeing you take that devastating hit for her brother shocked her to her very core...and even moreso when you were still standing despite the powerful blast.
But when you pass out shortly after capturing Terapagos, she's quick to snap Briar for pushing Kieran to terastalize it, blaming her for the reason this all happened.
She doesn't care if she gets in trouble for backtalking a teacher.
Her obsession with this "hidden treasure" ended up hurting a student, someone she was supposed to protect...and now you may never wake up.
At the hospital, Carmine sometimes visits you alongside her brother, and other times the two go in separately, leaving their pokemon outside.
When it's just her, she mostly talks about how Kieran has been doing, mentioning how you literally brought the light back into his eyes and how he wasn't some battle-crazed stranger anymore.
You saved him in more ways than one, and she cries a little just thinking about that, wishing you'd wake up and see that he was willing to let go of the past.
Whether it takes days or weeks, she never stops visiting you.
What you did for her brother was noble...and something she wishes she could've been brave enough to do.
The day you finally wake up and start to remember everything, Carmine quickly tries to cover up the fact she was crying.
But when you start talking, she's quick to breakdown as she (lightly) berated you for doing something so reckless, making you swear to NEVER do that again.
Soon Kieran rushes in the moment he hears you're awake..and he starts crying, too.
You just comfort the two siblings in your groggy half-asleep state, wondering how you'll tell them that this wasn't your first near-death experience...
Drayton
All he hears is that you were involved in an accident down in Area Zero...and it feels like a punch to the gut when he learns it put you into a coma.
Now he wishes he went with you. Maybe he could've kept an eye on Kieran just in case he did anything stupid for the sake of defeating you in-battle.
But he didn't, and that's exactly what ends up happening.
Despite not knowing all the details, he 100% believes Kieran is at fault for your condition.
Even though Drayton only knew you for a short time, he cared enough to frequently visit your room, trying to stay his chill and relaxed self while he talks to you about whatever came to mind (in case you were listening, he didn't want you to worry over him).
But it gets harder with every passing day and no clear confirmation on when (and if) you'll wake up.
Carmine was afraid he was going to strangle Kieran if he saw him...
Yet whenever they so-happen to visit you at the exact same time, words are seldom exchanged between the two.
Although Drayton will often glare at him, thinking to himself "only now he's sorry?"
Even so, he doesn't verbalize it.
There's no bitter reminders of what Kieran did. No petty insults to get the other ex-champion riled up.
They just sit in silence, although seeing the tears in the younger boy's eyes and the way he holds your hand made Drayton's gaze less icy the more he saw it.
Whenever you wake up, he's one of the first to know and brought you a Dragonite plushie as a gift, relieved to see you talking, his eyes slightly stinging and a huge smile on his face.
Once you recover more, he'll ask you what you remembered of Area Zero....and becomes shocked after you explained everything that happened down there.
All this time, he thought Kieran used Terapagos to attack you directly, but to learn it actually got out of control and turned its back on him??? And you chose to push him out of the way???
Drayton isn't sure if you're brave or dumb, but he's glad you're okay now.
When Kieran comes in, he leaves you both be to update the Elite Four, although he'll be back to help you on the long road to recovery.

may i request a lil something with arven and reader having a cofagrigus? :)
like! arven is making sandwiches for their pokémon and the reader just goes “oh yeah! can you add some of these to one of the sandwiches?” and proceeds to give him a handful of gold nuggets. i can imagine him being so confused and having NO idea that cofagrigus eats gold

Arven x Reader with a Cofagrigus, comedy with a hint of horror at the end (just a stranger things reference)

You're aware that Arven is...uncomfortable with Cofagrigus. You don't blame him, really! You get it. It's kind of a weird pokemon, but you love it dearly, having raised it since it was just a little, weepy yamask. You just couldn't help but love it! The poor thing needed someone, and you were just the person to help!
So you and Cofagrigus became the best of partners.
That doesn't mean everyone else gets it though.
So you understand why Arven shies away when Cofagrigus floats a little too close or when its hands reach too far or fingers get too wriggly. The pokedex entries make it sound scary, but you know your pokemon, and you know it wouldn't hurt Arven for anything!
So, you decide to help foster a bit more of a loving relationship between the two. No matter what you tell Arven about how sweet it can be, you know he won't believe it until he sees it for himself with someone other than you.
Normally, you just feed Cofagrigus separately from the rest of the pokemon, since its eating habits are admittedly a little bizarre, but the quickest way to a pokemon's heart is through its stomach! Or, so you tell yourself.
While Arven is preparing everyone's sandwiches one day at lunch, you approach him with a heavy pocket. "Hey! Do you think you might be able to make a sandwich for Cofagrigus today?"
Arven pauses and looks to you. "Um. Yeah, sure... I didn't realize it ate? I'm sorry. I would have been feeding it this whole time if I'd known?"
"Oh, it does!" You laugh. "It's just a little different. Here!" You reach into your pocket and heft out a decent chunk of tiny golden nuggets. "Just add these to its sandwich. That's really all it eats anyway."
Arven takes the gold from you incredulously. "Are... Are you serious?"
You nod, smiling wide.
"How much money has this thing eaten?"
You laugh. "How much money have you eaten?"
He sighs. "....Fair enough, I guess..."
So Arven makes the first ever golden nugget sandwich.
Cofagrigus ignores the bread, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickle, and condiments, but it loved the nuggets!
After that it trails along after Arven more and more when you two go picnicking and traveling around. Arven, for his part, really does try to be nice. He'll confusedly pet at the coffin or try to shake one of its ghostly hands, but truth be told, he really isn't sure how best to play with the pokemon, so he mostly just lets it float around him, mussing his hair or pulling at loose threads on his clothing, as friendly ghost types usually seem wont to do.
One night, the two of you are sleeping side by side in your sleeping bags in a nice little campsite when Cofagrigus decides it no longer wants to be in its ball. It goes and perches itself near Arven, poking him to wakefulness.
"Hm...? Wha?" He opens his eyes. "No, Cofagrigus. Not now, I don't have any gold..."
Cofagrigus pulls on him a bit, dragging him in his sleeping bag. Arven's eyes go wider, and he looks to you, fast asleep.
"Uh... Buddy, wake up... I don't like this."
You're still asleep. Cofagrigus, eyes unmoving and unblinking, seems to be dragging Arven somewhere further away, and he can't get out of his sleeping bag.
"Buddy, wake up!" He says louder. "Hey, hello! Time to wake up! Can you hear me? Wake up, buddy!" He looks back to Cofagrigus. "I don't like this!" Then he calls again to you. "Buddy, wake up!"

So, how would the big Galar three (Raihan, Leon and Peirs) react to thier S/O being in hospital after being attacked by a wild pokemon? headcanons or drabbles is fine with me >:3

Leon:
He hears about it through one of his assistants, racing in and stuttering about how you were found wounded in the Wild Area, no doubt attacked by some large Pokémon. Leon heard “you” and “hospital” and bolts out of the Battle Tower, tearing ass to the nearest Corvinight Taxi. He thinks running would be faster, but he won’t risk getting lost with you on the line
He arrives at the hospital and abuses his Chairman status a little to be allowed into your room even though he’s not family. You’re banged up, bandaged thoroughly, and Leon can hardly stand to look at you. So he sits down, and takes your hand, whispering apologies to you as you sleep off your meds
He blames himself. He’s always so busy with the Battle Tower that you don’t spend as much time together as either of you would prefer. He blames himself for you going alone, and blames himself for not being there to protect you.
When you finally open your eyes and see him, the first thing out of his mouth is “I love you” followed by “I’m so sorry” You’re confused, drugged up and in pain, so you don’t understand why he’s apologizing. When he tells you he’s responsible for this happening, you chew him out thoroughly (as best you can in your state) It’s not his fault. You ain’t gonna hear it. Now cuddle me, dammit
Leon waits on you hand and foot as you recover. He takes time off the Battle Tower to ensure you’re not alone, staying throughout the worst of your healing injuries. He has to be convinced he can go back after you start to become a little more independent. Y’all have friends that can stay with you, go away. Do your job. Save the world. He smiles at you, and feels even less inclined to leave when he realizes he’ll be away from your loving sass. Then you call him a dorky chairman, and he’s okay to go (/j)
He loves you a lot
Raihan:
He sees the posts about your accident before anyone can tell him about it. His Rotom phone alerts him the second it detects your name being used alongside “heavily injured” and “Pokémon attack” Raihan races out of his gym after seeing a photo of you heavily bandaged, blood seeping through. His heart is in his throat as he races towards the hospital you’ll be staring at. It doesn’t take long to get there with his long legs
He begs the receptionist to let him see you, but you’re still in surgery, so he has to wait. He sits in the waiting room, in chairs a little too small for him, and bounces his leg as he watches the time and checks his phone for more information about what happened to you. There’s plenty of speculation and some reports that you’re already dead, but nothing is proven. He sets his phone aside, instead answering texts from worried friends about you and him. He tells them your condition and where he is, and everyone starts towards the hospital you’re at to offer support
When he’s allowed back in your room, he’s kissing on your face, cringing at the taste of hospital disinfectants, but not stopping. He whispers to you that he’s sorry he wasn’t there with you, begs you to wake up. And when you do, you get to see his bread grin, as well as all of his friends hovering in the doorway, arms full of get-well-soon gifts. It’s a fun time, even if you are down and out
Once you’re released, Raihan takes over as being your personal nurse. He gets you what you need, but mostly lays in bed with you, keeping you company as you both show each other funny things you find on the internet. He wants you to feel safe again, so he does what he can to make things seem normal
You both get nightmares from this experience. Raihan’s are about losing you, and yours are about you or the people you love getting attacked, so you both comfort each other through the night best you can. It’s a steady incline towards recovery, but together you both can do anything
Piers:
He hears the news right before he’s supposed to go on stage. He had been wondering where you were, since you were supposed to be attending his concert, when someone runs up and shows him the media feed about your accident. Piers abandons the concert and races to the hospital you’re staying at, guilt curling up in his chest
You were coming to see him, and you got attacked. Piers heavily blames himself for your injuries, and seeing you hurt nearly knocks him to the floor. He sits next to your bed, gingerly picks up your hand, and presses a kiss to all the bandages he can reach. Then, he kisses your face, whispering apologies as he goes
You wake up to him doing this. When you ask him what’s the matter, don’t you have a concert today rockstar?, he starts to cry and apologize. You blearily try to comfort the singer, drugged out of your mind and with a mostly numbed body. Piers gets his emotions under control so you don’t hurt yourself, but despite your slurred reassurances, he still feels guilty
This shines through once you’re released. He’s constantly fretting over you and your injuries. He’s bringing you things you don’t even need, like what are you going to do with a Rubik’s Cube? One of your hands is in a cast? Luckily, Marnie shines through and helps knock some sense into her brother. You three have a long chat about his feelings of guilt and responsibility for your current state, and you help reassure him it was an accident. No one is at fault. God, he loves and appreciates you
He sings for you constantly. You’re getting you’re own personal concert every day of your recovery. He sings you your favorite songs of his and of other artists, though he snarks about the latter a bit, just to make you laugh. On nights when the pain keeps you from sleeping, he lies with you, singing soft lullabies as you drift off against his chest, right over his heart. It beats for you

Simon “Ghost” Riley general headcanons
• Authors note: First post on this blog WOOO let's GO DUDEEEE

• Warnings: none, just ghoth

☆ Not as “strong silent type” as one might imagine. He’s kind of a loudass, no? At least around the people he’s comfortable with. I think people resign him to that trope because he might not say as much as the rest of 141, but he’s definitely borderline yelling even in casual conversations. I blame the protective headphones. Plus dude’s from Manchester, tell me again he’s silent, go on!
☆ Autistic. Totally, entirely, Autistic. You see them stares? 👁️👁️ Headass. I see it in so many of his behaviors. Plus the military grade protective headphones would be a blessing to someone with sensory issues. Also the mask! He needs it to feel comfortable in my opinion. And I have a personal headcanon that his inspiration behind the skull mask wasn’t as scary as people make it out to be…simply put: Pokemon. Duskull. Tell me young Simon wasn’t trying to get comfortable away from home enlisting into the military and making a mask inspired by one of his special interests?
☆ Sleeps like he’s in prison. Very light sleeper, even when he’s home. The sound of the wind blowing outside a little too loudly can cause those heavy, tired eyes to open and check what time it is, for the eighth time in the night. I do believe if he’s with someone though, it becomes a little easier, more so with someone he trusts with his life.
☆ Nightmares. On the topic of sleep, Simon gets really bad nightmares. I think he has bouts where he doesn’t dream at all due to how little he’s actually sleeping and dozing in and out frequently, and other times it’s filled with flashes of the past whether from home or on the field.
☆ If Simon gets too many nightmares in one night, he’ll just decide to stay awake until the sun comes up or take over-watch to let someone else more capable of rest get some shuteye.
☆ Simon likes gaming and anime. Might own one or two figurines at home posted up in his nice gamer PC with red and black RGB lights. He and Roach like to keep up with the latest figurines in the stuff they like, even if they aren’t buying them.
☆ Speaking of gaming, dude’s nutty at FPS games. He’s got the whole sniper trope down in his own military career…but it’s the same exact way in games too. Can wipe a whole team clean and leave whoever is on his team screaming “LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO”. Hurts his ears.
☆ Simon and Johnny play games together sometimes, but Johnny is a bit of a knob when it comes to games. Think dudebro taste buds, Fortnite, FIFA, any games similar to CoD. Simon bears it though, mostly with Fortnite, the skins are worth it to him. Simon rags on him for playing on console.
☆ As untrustworthy Simon is, he prefers people to make his tea for him. I think something about it comforts him, probably reminds him of his mother. Whenever he’s home it’s some of the highlights of his time off when he gets to visit his brother and mum to have tea and catch up.
☆ I believe Simon makes his own masks, and his needlework isn’t anything to scoff at. To close off these headcanons I’ll share a wholesome thought I think to be true. Whenever 141 has a piece of equipment or clothing that they need to patch up, he’ll do it for them. Sometimes without them even knowing. He doesn’t need his friends complaining about the cold because of one tiny hole in their tactical hoodie. *Autistic staring at Soap*

OOh gosh, SO MANy!!! I'll go with Happy ones.
1.) The fact that when Agamemnon was testing them all. While Odysseus WAS the one who was all like "GET BACK HERE!" he was at first wanting to leave as well. ( he didn't "go to his ship" but he was pained as he probably wanted desperately to go home as well. )
She sped off, raced down from Mount Olympus’s crest,
quickly reached Achaea’s swift ships, rushing to the spot
Odysseus, a man as wise as Zeus, was standing.
He’d laid no hand on his fast, black, well-decked ship. His stout heart was filled with pain.

His heart was in pain! He wanted to go too! It was because Athena was like "GET THESE GUYS!" that he started to bonk the other Achaeans!
2.) Also the fact that he says this to Agamemnon when asking him why he said that "We can go home" 🥺

This is now the ninth revolving year
we’ve been waiting here, on this very spot.
So I don’t think that badly of Achaeans
in their frustration here by their curved ships.

"You can't blame us for rushing to go home. A man even being one month away from his wife will make him depressed" LIKE??!?!??!1 SIMP! He's fucking OUTING himself!!!
3.) Also in the Odyssey, the fact that he asks for another bed when she first rejects him. To ME, another part of the reason why he's so upset at her "rejection" is kind of because, to me, they were basically flirting while he was a beggar ( he calls her a KING, something you did NOT do when you're a man. as you're basically saying "I'm lesser than you, a woman" ) and so I imagine him being like "Weren't we flirting before?! Because you knew it was me?! I'm no longer covered in blood! Why are you suddenly turning me away?!"
And then he asks for a different bed. While it's assumed that she's still the "boss" as he hasn't been COMPLETELY accepted as the "rightful king yet", he probably STILL could've been like "Uh, no, that's MY bed. I'm going to sleep in it." At this point, Penelope's the ONLY one in the household who has not accepted him yet. He could've been like "Uh, no. I'm going to sleep in MY bed whether you like it or not" but he doesn't!!! He asks for a completely different bed! One that's probably not as luxurious as the one he made. and like??? Idk... it's so small but he really does care about her and respect her. (This is from what I know historically. If someone knows more and is willing to share if this is bullshit. then feel free to! :D )
I have SOOOO many more but I don't wanna search through all the books to find the sources 😅

just.... so MANY. I love a lot of things and have thoughts on many but it's mostly the Odyssey as of right now, (mostly the Ithacan royal family haha), but I also love Fairy Tail and Legend of Zelda! :D Many others include: Pokemon, Avatar (Atla and LoK), Fullmetal Alchemist, many different musicals. Those are the main ones as of now. :D I have a LOT

heya - get some good rest?
some new posts dropped, other people have been sending in questions. i'll summarise what might be important, but it's definitely possible i've missed stuff through lack of context, so i attached all the posts to look through
i'm curious how much of what's about your/'your' past is actually accurate. we might be able to find clues in what's been changed.
ask: did you consult uxie on this; answer: yes of course + team galactic as justification for bringing back old alpha zoroark guarding the cave. logical explanation here
ask: flicker's personality; answer: sweetheart, cuddly and clingy, lazy and sleeping most of the time, favourite pets are muzzle rubs. might be able to determine if something's off from how you remember...
ask: have you had a pokemon named tiph; answer: one of flicker's littermates adopted to a nice family in unova. whoever asked didn't give any reason for asking that specific name but hopefully it didn't raise suspicion

this. i am not sure what to think about it - in the best-case scenario they legitimately just want to bring back the hisuian variants and are just using your image to help get people interested in the idea for. some reason?????

consulting Uxie makes sense, my parents do that before doing just about anything.
Flicker's personality is all accurate from when he was a cyndaquil, although he was never really lazy and sleepy. if anything, he followed me around constantly, he was always on that move...i hope his health is alright...
asking about Tiph is ballsy, but their response was smart, saying she was adopted out. They're being very careful not to mention any pokemon they don't currently have..
hah! flexing the power of a hisuian zoroark. actually, they might have taken that as a bit of a threat based on that phrasing. i wonder if my father captured them or if they're a wild zoroark...if they're captured this may not be what they want to some extent...
my poor health..yeah i'm allergic to most furred pokemon and grass types, and i had some other health stuff going on at the same time, so finding a partner pokemon for me was hard. they're pretty correct on that front, although most of the allergy stuff stopped being a problem when i was old enough to take medicine for it
the conservation and hospital stuff all seems right, those were Chroma Corp goals from the beginning.

i can sort of swim, although i wouldn't say i enjoy it. i'm not very good, have to use a kickboard. i still do it cause as you said it's good for fibro. interesting that they said auntie owns it still and its abandoned. my parents know it was left to me in uncles will, although i guess saying that would sound a bit weird and leave opportunity for more questions

Do you have a favorite Vtuber?
Please also tell us why.
All right, wall of text time.
The short answer is not exactly, I watch vtubers for a lot of different reasons. I have a shortlist, and I have one or two I actually spend money on supporting, but I don't think I could name a favorite. If you're looking for names, I'd shout out Finana Ryugu, Mai Tsukimiya, Hakos Baelz, and Pavolia Reine, with Mai Tsukimiya closest to 'favorite' based on my support/engagement.
Now, the long answer.
I follow vtubers for a couple of key things - body doubling, relaxation, let's plays, music, and 'other'. A lot of these don't really interact well - if I'm trying to find a comprehensive let's play of a game I want to experience, I'm looking for a different thing than when I'm trying to find something to put on when I'm going to sleep. Plus, there are a lot of vtubers who are part of an agency like Hololive or Nijisanji that have a certain level of obligation to play specific games, so suddenly everyone I follow is playing the new pokemon, or hitman, or (ugh) Hogwarts legacy, because the agency made a promotion deal. And it's important for me to remember a lot that Vtubing is a job, especially the bigger you get, and that's more than just 'I need to make money doing this.' It's also 'I have a boss who makes decisions about what I am and am not allowed to do, and if I say something on stream I may have to make a ten minute apology video if my handler decides it might hurt the brand.'
I do want to talk about that - I don't like a lot of the subculture that vtubers inhabit. I don't like the way that it vaguely reeks of 4chan memes, or how if you scratch the surface you'll find incredibly toxic and disgusting behavior in chat. I don't blame the streamer for basically any of it, but there are vtubers out there who play more into it that I would like much more if they didn't (basically anyone in vshoujo, but also gawr gura and amelia watson, for example). And I'm sure there's more that I don't know about because like, if they don't stream in english, I'm obviously not gonna know what they're saying unless it gets clipped and translated. I will say, Finana Ryugu specifically gets a pass from me, and I think if she streamed more games I was interested in, she might make it up to being my favorite. I will never forget her anger at her chat for calling certain gacha characters 'traps', and her banning the word from her stream, and then like a day later being forced to apologize for it. I've more or less given up on trying to find 'progressive' or 'leftist' vtubers because of the culture (plus y'know, no one talks politics or ideology at their job), but she strikes me as a genuinely kind and thoughtful person.
For the things I watch vtubers for, number one is probably body doubling - if you're not familiar with that term, it's basically 'having someone else in the room to help someone with ADHD start and execute tasks that they otherwise wouldn't be able to'. It's kind of like having a podcast on for me, or chatting with someone while doing the dishes. It's having the stream on in the background and not really paying much attention to it.
Next is relaxation - sometimes I'll put a streamer on just to fall asleep to. I don't do the ASMR stuff really, but just having noise on in the background helps me sleep, and there's a number of people who have very calming or pleasant voices. Ceres Fauna is a shoutout here - I think she's on the edge of the 'elmo voice' crowd, but she's great to fall asleep to.
I also listen to a lot of music from vtubers, either covers or original music. I'll voluntarily admit I like Mori Calliope - when she's not trying to be edgy or playing into the subculture, her music is genuinely good. In general I think vtubers shouldn't be forced to sing, but I have a bunch of songs from vtubers I listen to a lot.
Let's plays - obvious. I have to shout out Hakos Baelz' playthrough of Resident Evil Village, she struggles with horror games and her experience with RE8 was extremely fun to watch because she was able to enjoy herself and get through the scary parts. This is also what's hardest to find for me - there aren't a lot of vtubers who play the kind of games I'd like to see.
I also like listening to vtubers who stream in other languages - most non-english vtubers stream in Japanese, but I like listening to the indonesian streamers from nijisanji and hololive as well (and ID streamers like Reine and Moona have some extremely good songs).
There aren't many vtubers I actually support financially, I think the only one is Mai Tsukimiya. I think she's very sweet, is small enough that I feel like I'm supporting a person and not a company, and I've bought some of her merch and enjoyed it.
Anyway all of this is to say that it's complicated, but I follow a lot of let's players and vtubers and have Opinions about them.
This is different from a list of recommendations, though. I think everyone I've named (and quite a few I didn't) are worth checking out, but obviously there's a lot of variance in terms of what they stream, how they stream, etc.

Some character and episode notes from HZ008, writing them down for future reference!
- Interesting info about Dot when everyone was having breakfast at the beginning, with Murdock telling Liko and Roy that she’s never really been interested in food (she reminds me of someone from a magical girl anime). Dot seems to be a picky eater and lunches can be social events, and yet she doesn’t partake in those with everyone else. Liko is worried about her not eating, but Mollie tells her that she has gummies that contain a day’s nutrients. Murdock takes it upon himself to try and make her something she will eventually like, which is also why he was seen at a library later in the episode since he was looking for a recipe book.
- Mollie noticing that some ingredients were lacking and her, Orio and Liko all staring at Murdock and Friede was funny! Friede being all “stop the finger-pointing, blaming people won’t solve anything” like he wasn’t part of this, too. Friede consults Cap for permission to land and Cap is supposedly okay with it. Roy asks how they prepare for landing, but Friede reminds him and Liko that they have something else they should be doing, which is attending classes. I really like that Friede reminds them that they have classes, or that they should be sleeping at night (like he did with Roy at the beginning of the episode when he saw he was up), he takes responsability for them.
- Liko and Roy both attend their classes remotely. Liko got to talk to An about Gurumin’s livestream. Roy was taking his classes outside and Friede eventually joins him to talk when his class was over. Roy looks at the sky and wonders if he can see Rayquaza flying around. Friede explains that he probably wouldn’t be able to see it since Rayquaza flies higher than any cloud and he goes on a tangent about how Pokemon live in places that humans cannot reach, though Roy left midway because he was excited to see that they reached a land.
- The crew plays rock paper scissors to determine who will watch the ship. Roy loses but asks Liko to switch places since he really wants to ask people in town if they’ve seen Rayquaza. Liko acts like it’s a big decision for her, which was funny. She wanted to stay on the ship anyway to catch Gurumin’s livestream, so she eventually agrees. Roy tells her about the secret in the kitchen too.
- At town, Mollie is strict and tells everyone that they shouldn’t be tempted to make any impulse buys since the budget is strict for the month. Roy was quick to leave to ask people about Rayquaza but Friede catches him before he can get away. It was cute! Friede really has to watch over Roy. He doesn’t let him out of his sight and they actually stay together for the whole duration of the shopping. He doesn’t let Roy handle part of it alone, especially since it’s Roy’s first time outside his island and he could easily get lost.
- Liko humming when she was watching over the ship was really cute. I like that they show that there are things to do on the ship to keep it running, like shopping, maintenance, feeding the Pokemon and cleaning around. These scenes make the world feel more lively. Liko takes her mission seriously. It reminds me of HZ004 when she was happy about being given a duty. She really wants to grow! Eventually, she wants to know the secret Roy was talking about but ends up being attacked by Mawhip.
- Liko wants to deliver Dot’s bento to her room. She wants to talk to her about Gurumin, but Dot gets angry. Liko keeps going on about Gurumin and how she is a big fan of her and that she learned a lot about Pokemon through her videos. Liko notices that Gurumin’s livestream isn’t starting on time and Dot tells her it’s her fault, though Liko still doesn’t understand that Dot is Gurumin. Dot eventually tells Liko that she doesn’t want to get involved with Liko or anyone else. Liko asks her if she never wanted to eat lunch with everyone or talk to others. Dot thinks it’s a pain, and that IRL relationships are inefficient and a waste of time. Liko eventually leaves.
- Friede and Roy come across someone who sells a cloth that can make any Pokemon shine. Roy asks him if he heard about a Rayquaza sighting and is tempted to buy the cloth just to have the information, though Friede reminds him that they shouldn’t impulse buy or else Mollie will get mad. The seller wonders if the black Rayquaza is a fad, since some snobby boy with two attendants asked him about it too. Friede is immediately curious and wants to know about them so he ends up buying the cloth, They didn’t get any information about Rayquaza. Either way, I think it’s funny that Amethio was described as a snobby boy because it was definitely Amethio, Zir and Conia that the seller met. Amethio said that he would chase Rayquaza in HZ006 so I was wondering how he would do it since he doesn’t really have a way to track it? It seems that Amethio had the same idea as Roy, which was to ask people around if they’ve seen it. I wonder if the seller managed to make him buy his product in exchange for information ww So, we know that Amethio passed by the town before Friede and since Rayquaza is headed for Paldea, there is a possibility that he already reached Paldea as well. It was an interesting way to let us know how the Explorers are doing and Amethio is brought up back in relation to Friede and Roy this time. Friede thinks he shouldn’t let his guard down since the descriptions he got were probably about the Explorers.
- Liko was excited about watching the livestream. Nyaoha’s expressions were cute and funny the whole way through. I really like how expressive Nyaoha was in this episode in general.
- Gurumin accepted questions during the livestream so Liko left a comment. The first comment was from “Muscles of a Saidon” which refers to Zir. Zir talks about his battle against Roy and how he thought he was unbeatable with Rock Blast, but can’t seem to win battles. So, Zir asks Gurumin for advice and she had interesting advice to give him: enduring attacks with defensive moves like Protect or using Sandstorm to change the environment. Either way, the idea that Zir is also a Gurumin fan is funny! It means that wherever him, Amethio and Conia were, he was watching the livestream and was probably looking forward to it too.
- Liko left a comment with the username “NyaohaSuperfan” which is adorable! She ends up asking about Dot’s situation and how to befriend her. As Dot was reading along the question, she started to understand that the question might be referring to her. Liko was very embarassed at having her comment read (the way she ended up screaming ww). Dot says that making friends is like Pokemon battles.
- Roy had a Pokemon battle against an Onisuzume. Friede encouraged him to battle since he thought that Roy would be able to handle it now. Roy eventually won. Friede seemed proud! He said that battling wild Pokemon could teach him lots as a trainer.
- Liko and Roy try to talk to Dot in front of her room. Roy thanks her for the information about Rayquaza but she doesn’t answer. He mentions his battle from earlier to Liko and suggests that they have a battle too. Liko remembers Gurumin’s words and wonders if they should battle right there. This gets Dot to react as she tells them not to battle in front of her room and to stop hanging out there. Roy is excited and tries to tell her about the cloth he bought but she doesn’t seem interested. Liko wonders what kind of information Dot wants to know. Dot replies that ancient treasures with Legendary Pokemon sealed inside, or mystical things that no one has seen before would be exciting to know for her. She thinks they won’t be easy to find but Liko points out that it might be closer than she’d think. Roy casually lent the cloth to Liko during this scene.
- Dot thinks that everyone on the ship is weird w She smiles after saying it, though. She ends up eating the donuts Murdock made for her too. There is some progress there as she left her room to do so. Friede and Murdock seemed happy to see that she took the donuts.
- Friede is seen sleeping while sitting, which I hope for him isn’t something he always does since that doesn’t look comfortable w
- Overall, really fun episode! I like the dynamics between everyone and it was especially a good episode for Friede and Roy, and Liko and Dot. While we got scenes with Friede and both Liko and Roy, it’s also interesting to see how he interacts with them separately. Friede looks out for Roy and helps him and it feels like they have a brotherly bond growing, which is cute.

I have done the Worst Possible Pokemon Day prediction. I have done the NO Way in Hell Will it Ever be This Good prediction. Time for the "realistic" prediction.

I'll say they'll announce that next year.
Kalos- yeah I see you there, you dumb bastard, still huffing that Kalos Copium 11 years later. Let it go, man. Let. It. Goooo. Southern Kalos is NOT happening dude. At least, not this gen. It didn't happen in Alola, not in Galar, and it's not happening in Paldea. They're not skipping gen 5 to get to you first.
Overall I expect a similar response to the 2021 Pokémon Day Presents. A mixture of under, over, and straight up whelmed. Thorough disappointment for everything but Legends Arceus, from what I remember. Maybe they'll make my day and surprise me with something amazing, but I feel that the ILCA Unova Remake will probably piss a lot of people off while the Legends game excites me and everyone else.

Title: Birds of a Feather

Warnings: Shippy! My take on Akari. Spoilers for events after defeating the Fifth Lord and Mission 13, and if you squint/know what you're looking for, spoilers for the whole game.
In a ‘harsh, cruel world’ where you had to struggle to survive, fit in, or get tossed out to the ravenous fangs of the wilds… Who could trust you if you were deemed an outsider? Who could you trust?
The first day of her exile had been spent wandering with no recourse, turned away by those she hoped she could trust. The first night had been little better; she’d wasted the day supplicating for aid and couldn’t make even the most basic shelter, despite those red skies casting an eerie glow over everything.
And then Volo found her, sometime in those hours between late and early. His familiar smile, his kindness, the ready way he spoke to her without fear, blame, or reservation… The dam broke, the tears came, and embarrassingly (in retrospect) she couldn’t stop herself from hugging him. When was the last time she’d hugged anyone? Other than her Pokemon, months. She used to give her mom a hug every time she saw her! Her friends, too. Needless to say, people in Hisui weren’t exactly used to such sudden displays.
He accepted it kindly enough though, touching a hand atop her head and saying nothing as he let her have her moment. Where would she have been without him? Yes, she had her Pokemon, she could have found a way to survive, but it’d have been hard and time-consuming, and would wear her down in every way possible.
They made their way to Cogita’s hideaway, made introductions, settled on the most basic accommodations. Exhausted as she was, Cogita opted to wait until the morning to speak on the weighty matters of duty and what must be done next.
So her second night in exile -the first at Cogita’s retreat- Volo set up his little tent bedecked in Ginkgo Guild colors. It was no bigger or more elaborate than the ones the Survey Corps used, but plenty enough for them both to sleep, he assured her. She was so exhausted that she couldn’t offer much in the way of even polite resistance, or ‘worry about the implications’.
Volo sat just under the further edge of the tent, a variety of papers and old books splayed around his lap. He poured over them by the light of the campfire with a weighty focus she could feel, but was too tired to comprehend before she inevitably dozed off.
The third night, however, with a clearer goal in mind and a renewed sense of purpose, she sat up under the tent, hugging her knees and staring into the campfire. Haruki was curled up at her side, one of his long ribbons curled loosely, almost idly -but certainly with purpose- around her ankles as he lightly snoozed.
“Shall we get an early start in the morning then? I’m afraid I don’t think that red sky will give us the luxury of taking our time,” Volo mused as he moved to hunker down beside her, words never accusing or harsh, always with an air of levity.
“Yeah, probably a good idea to get a move on it,” she nodded, not taking her eyes away from the fire for a moment. But then she turned her gaze towards him with a smile, feeling that innate relief and comfort that always seemed to come with his presence. “Thank you again, Volo. You know, if this really works, you’ll be a hero,” she said with complete honesty, but also a hint of playful teasing. He blinked at her, eye wide and brow raised high.
“How exactly do you imagine that? You’re the one who’ll be having to face these trials, might I remind you.”
“And it’s not as if anyone else would have been able to point me to Cogita’s doorstep, and gotten me the information on these trials,” she gave a firm nod of her head, “Nope, it’s all thanks to you.”
“Haha… I suppose that is true,” he chuckled quietly, thoughtful for a beat before he continued. “Though I’m more than happy to leave all future accolades to you. After all, I’m merely interested in-”
“The ruins,” her voice overlapped with his, laced with a laugh. His own laughter followed suit.
“You know me too well,” he said praisingly, but in the back of her mind there was a blip of a thought: that she didn’t know him well enough at all. Not nearly as much as she wanted to, at least.
Though, that was probably for the best. All of this stuff with the rift seemed connected with her, of course, but once this was solved, and she’d sought out all Pokemon as she was told… she’d be going back home, right? It wasn’t like she was avoiding making friends or any close connections, and she didn’t think she could have stopped it if she wanted to, but she was constantly aware that one day she would go home and leave all of this behind. At least, that was what she hoped. Or what she thought she hoped…
For a while there, she’d been getting very comfortable with life here. She thought she was a part of Jubilife Village now… But now she had to wonder, how much of it had just been polite masks of friendship and civility, and how much doubt and mistrust had still lived on beneath those masks? Living in exile definitely made it feel a bit easier to want to go home these days.
Part of her didn’t care so much about having her name and deeds slandered, she knew what she’d done, and why she’d done it, even if she didn’t always have the best answers or reasons, none of it had been out of malice or ill intent. But it still hurt… To have fought so hard, to have so many wounds marring her body for these people, and to be so easily cast out, as if on a whim. Even if she told herself ‘she understood’ why, it didn’t change the weight or the feeling of betrayal.
“Vee…” Haruki nudged his head against her thigh, the ribbon around her ankles hugging her, soothing away some of the dark clouds in her heart. With a wry smile, she reached over to stroke her hand between his ears.
“You alright? You got really quiet…” Volo spoke softly, and she nearly started at the sensation of his fingers delicately brushing the strands of her hair back from her face.
“Oh, sorry…” shaking her head, she felt her cheeks warm as she sat up straighter. Yeah, she’d completely zoned out there for a minute, though maybe she could just chalk that up to the exhaustion and trauma. “What were we saying?”
His lips slightly pinched, he tilted his head at her with a thoughtful hum. “Nothing important, I’m more curious what’s on your mind now.”
It felt gently like concern, and she both appreciated that and… felt apologetic for it. He had already done so much for her, after all…
“It’s nothing, really, just… still kind of coming to grips with it all,” she shrugged and stretched her arms out over her knees, trying to get fully back in her body as opposed to in her head. “There’s not really any time for that though, I know.”
He was quiet for another brief moment, before he shifted a little, in a way that seemed almost to accept what she’d said and move along. His hand reached up to remove his cap, the other smoothing over his hair briefly before he fiddled with the hat in both hands.
For just a split second, she instead made a different realization: he was fidgeting. Was he nervous about something?
“It’s a harsh, cruel world, isn’t it…?” he said very softly, and she couldn’t make out much from his expression in profile, that one silver eye locked on the simple patterns and threads of his cap. “No matter how much you do for them, how presentable you are to their expectations, you’ll always be an ‘outsider’ first.”
And then, she had the sudden inkling that she was on the precipice of understanding… Just why he kept very carefully measured distances between himself and others. Polite, smiling, friendly, quick with a joke or a helping hand, but rarely did it seem to go much deeper. The people of Jubilife or the Celestica people, or even the other Ginkgo Guild merchants… Cogita, too, or so it seemed.
She remembered when he’d found her napping in the Fieldlands that one day, not long after she’d first arrived. He’d extended cautious concern to her, but now she realized… He understood how hard this world could be. He had at least half expected her to be dead.
And in a ‘harsh, cruel world’ where you had to struggle to survive, fit in, or get tossed out to the ravenous fangs of the wilds… Who could trust you if you were deemed an outsider? Who could you trust?
Suddenly, she felt very cold, and very lonely, and hugged her knees tighter.
“I think… that’s why it’s important to stick together,” she spoke in an almost helplessly small voice, her words feeling more like a desperate, foolishly hopeful prayer rattling coldly in her hollow chest. They were supposed to be warm, kindling to chase away the chill. “When we find the people we really connect with.”
It was a simple, straightforward sentiment, one you could find anywhere. But she was talking to him, and she knew she was talking to him, because in this moment there was recognition. That all along, perhaps, he’d seen a bit of himself in her, and maybe that was why he’d always been a little kinder to her. Maybe that was why, even though it made him fidget with some discomfort, he opened up and gave voice to one tiny sliver of himself he didn’t allow others to see or hear.
She felt him looking at her, and shyly raised her gaze to meet his. Again, she couldn’t quite make out what he might have been thinking, except that he seemed to be thinking deeply. Maybe he’d call her naive, or foolish.
It wasn’t like she expected much… Almost all she wanted was a friend, someone who could accept her. And she would do the same, she’d never had a problem making friends after all… But she couldn’t help fear that he would laugh, or dismiss her, or turn her away. That she would lose the last warm, human connection she had.
The cool tips of his fingers touched the side of her face, and a shiver ran down her spine. For just a minute she couldn’t process this gesture or the reaction; some part of her brain tried, but failed. But then he was leaning closer, and her heart suddenly thudded against her rib cage as all parts of her brain were instead scattered into a frenzy. Surely he wasn’t- Was he?
His eyes closed, and she felt his lips touch hers before her eyes fluttered shut as well. So sweet and soft - brief, but the moment lingered lazily around them. He didn’t push deeper for more, but instead slowly drew back, his hand drifting lower to rest against the side of her neck, thumb brushing her chin.
“I…” his voice cracked slightly for how small it was, before he swallowed and gave a small shake of his head, close enough that the strands of his hair tickled her face. “I’m sorry, that was…” he mechanically pulled his hand back, and sat straighter.
But she grabbed his hand and leaned back in, kissing him again. She didn’t want him to apologize, she just wanted him to keep kissing her. And she knew damn well she shouldn’t have. Hadn’t she just been telling herself she was going to leave after all of this, that it was better not to get too involved with people? But she also knew there wasn’t any helping matters where the heart was concerned.
And how… How could she want to leave if she was falling in love with him?
Then, however, she felt what he’d probably felt; a rise of embarrassment at how sudden and forward this all was, and jerked back, face red.
“Sorry- uh, I mean…” she shook her head, and he laughed - bright and jovial.
“Perhaps we’re both getting a little ahead of ourselves?” he suggested with a smile, his hand holding onto hers. “Though I suppose I am the one who started it,” playfully, he gave a wave of his other finger. “I’ll accept any punishment you deem fit, Miss Akari.”
Right, it was probably a rather serious offense in these times, wasn’t it? But she just laughed and shook her head, grateful for his levity, feeling a very real weight lifting off of her heart. Though, he was probably right, they were probably getting at least a little ahead of themselves.
“Hmm, I’ll have to think up an acceptable punishment to fit the crime,” she grinned teasingly. No, she wasn’t going to call attention to the fact she’d kissed him back so they were pretty much even. “I’ll be merciful though, so don’t worry too much.”
“Truly, you are too kind,” he placed his hand over his chest and gave a bow of his head, and she laughed some more.
“Syl…!” beside her, Haruki chirped up, and Akari blushed as her laughter turned sheepish, petting him.
“Oh geez, I forgot we had an audience here,” she chuckled, “Don’t worry about me, Haruki, I’m feeling better now.” Which she said naturally, as Haruki was often very in tune to her emotions, and she wanted to simply reassure him. And not thinking at all that she was giving a rather obvious confession to just how happy that simple kiss had left her.
Haruki was appeased though, giving her a happy little cheer and nudge of his head before settling back down to snooze.
“Maybe he’s worried I’ll put him out of his job,” Volo teased musingly with a smirk, and Akari blinked back at him, taking just a moment to puzzle what he’d said and what she’d said together, before she felt that heat return to her face.
“Haha, don’t be silly,” she shook her head, “Both of you are irreplaceable.” It was a simple enough thing to admit, even if it was still a little embarrassing.
“Irreplaceable, huh?” he repeated, that surprised look on his face again, almost like she’d said something truly bizarre. For just a split second he went still again, gaze shifting away, and she thought it felt very similar to when he’d been fidgeting with his hat before.
“Well, regardless… I had just wanted to say…” he spoke haltingly for a second, before he found his stride, “I agreed with what you said before. That we should stick together. After all, with my knowledge and your skills, I daresay we’ll accomplish much.”
“Like saving the world,” she said with a laugh and shake of her head, hugging her knees again. He was so close, she wanted to just… lean over against him, but managed to refrain.
“But before we can hope to accomplish anything, I think you ought to get some rest. It’ll be you and your Pokemon facing the trials of the lakes, after all. Though, of course I’ll be cheering you on.”
Her gaze turned to the red skies as he spoke of rest and trials, sobering her slightly.
“Mmm, yeah, all right,” she sighed and started moving to get herself laid down for sleeping. Yawning and half-asleep, Haruki followed suit. “But,” she spoke as she shifted around, “just you being with us is more than enough… It really does mean a lot to me, you know?”
After all that exchange about outsiders and acceptance and sticking together, she was pretty sure he did.
“I know,” he answered quietly, and she gave a small laugh to herself.
“Maybe you’re my good luck charm.”
“I’m afraid buttering me up won’t get you any discounts, my dear.”
She gave another laugh, curled up on her side with Haruki curled up against her stomach, watching as he pulled a book out from his bag. Though she might have told him he ought to get some rest too, it was probably for the best, or her thoughts and nerves might get the better of her. The former were already bouncing all over, thinking not about trials or red skies or exile, but kissing him again. Holding his hand again. Butterflies in her stomach thinking about him lying close to her, despite them each having their own bedroll.
But rather than him falling into that steady focus while reading by the campfire she’d witnessed a few times by now since she’d known him, he shifted around towards her, leaning on one hand. Her heart thudded quietly once more, awed by the sight of him silhouetted in the glow of the fire, and that faint red glow from the night sky.
“Rest well, Akari. I’ll see you in the morning.”
That was obvious, of course, but the sentiment behind those words weren’t lost on her. Perhaps she presumed too much, but what else could she read from them? ‘I’m here. And I’ll be here. You can count on that.’ One of the few things that she could rely on, and the comfort she took in hearing it was not small as she hugged Haruki a little tighter to her with a smile.
“Mm, you get some rest too…” she replied softly, and with a faint smile he turned back. “Good night, Volo.”

Medea Plays Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Part I
Time for my shit and giggles shit-post. I mostly do this for my friends who end up on the fence of buying a game. And seeing as this is the latest Pokemon game, I am all up in this drama. I mean, let’s face it, these games were getting trashed on. What else is new? Sword and Shield got shit on early on because of the national dex and something about mother fucking trees. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl got shit on because of its chibi-ism and no charisma of Platinum. And Legends Arceus got shit on because...I don’t know, internet trolls will find anything to shit on. As always, I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt by playing it myself.
Clefable is unobtainable in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet
Okay, okay. But in all seriousness, let’s start this off on the right path.
Literally the second after you choose the language for the game, you get to customize your character. You can even choose eye shapes and eyebrow intensity. Well, here’s my black-ass not smiling. Just like in real life.
Unfortunately, you’re stuck with these whack-ass uniforms where you can’t even change the color to. I guess that’s because you’re attending school now. Let’s meet Director Clavell.

No, this is the bro that heads up the academy you’re going to attend. And for the moment, I’m focusing on playing Scarlet. I’ll probably fuss around with Violet later down the road. Clavell will give you your first pokemon.

Give Koraidon or Miraidon your sandwich at the beginning and it’ll save you from a pack of Houndour and become your bicycle (that runs instead of cycles). I’d like to see Ash Ketchum try and break this one. You get Koraidon quite fast as it belonged to Arven and his parent.
In the past, we’ve gotten certain version exclusives like certain pokemon and gym leaders are only available on a certain game. In this game, that applies to the professors. Either one, Arven is still their kid.
His parents are Professor Big N***a and Crazy Bitch.
They aren’t really. But come on, you were all thinking the same thing. Well, we’re not really going to worry about the professors for now. It’s time for school.
Your homeroom teacher is Mr. Jacq-strap. You have classmates of all kinds attending school alongside you. And once you go on your treasure hunt journey, you’ll battle students from the academy.

Pokemon, what the fuck are you doing? No, seriously. What the fuck is this? I can accept people attending school at any age. What the fuck?! I seriously do not like the way this guy is looking at me.

I’m in my dorm room. Yeah. Nice that my dorm room here is a lot more spacious than the one from when I attended college. And for those who hate Nemona, don’t worry, she won’t be your roommate.
I’m not sure how to feel about Nemona yet. People either hate her or want to fuck her. I just think that she loves pokemon battles the same way Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui loves to gamble. They both get wet from it.
On your first day of school, you’re being pushed to do many things. Nemona wants you to go the traditional route of challenging gym leaders and becoming champion. Arven wants you to search for Titan Pokemon.
Don’t blame me, the game only gives me two choices to your request.
And then there’s some bruh that hacks your phone and wants you to go after Team Star.
At least when it comes to this last quest, you do get some help from ‘a student’.
Give Director Clavell some credit, at least he doesn’t look as cringe as that other student. But he was totally obvious in that get-up. Like, Professor Kukui as Masked Royal had more of a disguise.

Okay, let’s have some fun in this open world. Let’s teach my team some fun, new moves.

Mmm...look at that quality-ass sandwich. I’ll give Pokemon this, at least this sandwich isn’t as cringe-looking as other shit sandwiches.
Thankfully technology has evolved a bit so we don’t have to make sandwiches that look like they came from Rapsittie Street Kids hell. But not by much.
But it isn’t just sandwiches. There’s a lot of restaurants and different treats to eat in different cities.
These foods help when it comes to catching pokemon and producing pokemon eggs. Ditto is still being used here. It’s just that you have to put the two pokemon you want to make whoopie on your team when you go on a picnic and keep checking the basket to see if the stork dumped some eggs.
And sometimes, Mr. Stork might bring more than one egg.
Now, let’s talk about falls.
First of all, you cannot use your phone as a parachute. That’s just not something. Secondly, if you end up in the water without the use of a swimming aid or fall from a large height, you’ll just go back to the top like nothing happened. If this were Legends Arceus...
Okay, let’s get into gym battles. First, there are no more trainers in the gym that challenge you while you make your way to the gym leader. Instead, you have to do a task for each gym.
GOD DAMN IT! Pokemon, I am sick of having to gather other people’s pokemon. I had it up to here when I had to chase that fucking Furfrou back in XY. Yes, I realize this all started back in Johto-times with Sylvester and his Farfetch’d. But the Furfrou one really irritated me.
One gym down. Seven more to go. Let’s take a break.

I slept for 18 hours. A complete mystery how I'm able to remember the time I went to sleep with how otherwise disastrous my memory span is.
Anyhoo, there's this thing that occasionally happens. Whenever I sleep, I always have my sleep disturbed somehow. I constantly wake up. That's probably why I'm always tired enough to go back to sleep all the way to the 24 hour mark sometimes, or one of the reasons. So yeah about the thing that occasionally happens...
Sometimes during the times I'm awake for a few seconds before going back to sleep, the previous dream will give me a number to think in my head to continue the dream when I'm back to sleep. That sounds borderline supernatural or somethin-
Though like- I remember one time, rather than think the number I was given, I had awake-enough thoughts that I was able to instead think "No way. I want to see Hop" and then Hop was in my dream after I was asleep in the next few seconds. Or at least I think it was Hop that time. I don't know if I'm remembering for sure.
I'm most often too half asleep to go against the number I'm given but I want to try and learn to ignore the number and think of a character. I'll basically have a cheat to dream of whatever character I want if I become able to pull this off, assuming I can have an awake-enough thought. I totally would have wanted to see Leon instead of Hop and I remember when I woke up from the dream I basically chose to have, I had been questioning my choices in like a "I should have asked for Leon instead. I don't see him enough" kind of way.
Okay now... I'm going to talk about something that might confirm my status as a crazy person but idk. I'm just talking about weird experiences relating to dreams.
Leon has not been appearing in my dreams nearly as much as he used to. It's been a few years, but I remember the exact moment he started appearing less.
It was one night my sister was really keen on making sure I didn't get a good night of sleep. Before she had a mini house built in order to desperately get her away from everyone.
So anyway, she kept randomly screaming because of dumb reasons like- idk she was out of underwear or something. The random "karen screeches" while everyone else was asleep was miserable.
I was dreaming of Leon a bunch that night but unfortunately kept being interrupted by physical pain to my ears that just remembering is making fatigue pain hit the underside of my eyes.
After a certain number of times of being woken up, I had this weird experience that felt so real I'm still questioning it. I was in my room with a realistic amount of darkness for the time of night it was. My eyes were realistically adjusted to the amount of darkness they would have been then.
I could see sort of well, but I saw some figure standing over me and I heard Leon's voice, specifically the one from Pokemon Masters, call out and say "Why do you keep disappearing?" as in referring to why I keep waking up. I kept disappearing during the adventure we were having.
Except I also had a realistic response to an unexpected entity in my room and kicked him in the face before I could comprehend who I was seeing.
Then he vanished into thin air like a ghost or something and I went into another dream.
And from that moment on, I haven't been seeing Leon in dreams as much. As if I scared him or something.
Something that needs to be understood in order to further know why I'm blaming this moment, the strength in my legs are dangerous. I have accidentally put holes in the wall on several occasions by swinging my legs around.
Yes, yes, you can call me a crazy person for thinking I scared Leon away from my dreams. I'm questioning my own sanity. Honestly, I keep praying that I'm able to remember to apologize to him during the rare times I do see him, but I've never been able to remember to do that and this whole ordeal keeps affecting my mental health in ways it shouldn't.
Like- I feel like a monster because I feel so bad about what I did??? But it was a dream??? That happened a few years ago???
Anyway, I keep trying to find ways to increase my chances of seeing Leon in my dreams in order to increase my chances of apologizing to him. If anyone knows any like- hypnotism or whatever, I'm willing to try whatever agrees with my moral standards.

I woke up to the sound of footsteps coming toward the bed. I rolled over just as Bucky sat back down.
"What are you doing up?" I asked.
"Just getting some water," Bucky said. "I didn't mean to wake you up."
"Is that the only reason you're up?" I asked.
He was quiet as he took a sip of his water.
"It's okay to tell me if it's the nightmares again," I said.
"I don't want you to worry," Bucky said.
I sat up and moved so I was sitting next to him on the edge of the bed.
"Look, I know it's not something you like to talk about but maybe it would do you some good," I said. "You keep telling me not to worry every time you have a nightmare but your not talking is what makes me worry."
Again he was quiet.
"Fine. Whatever," I said. "I'm going back to sleep."
I went to lay back down but Bucky grabbed my hand.
"I'm sorry," Bucky said. "It's not that I don't want to talk with you. It's just..."
He trailed off.
"Just what?" I asked.
"It's just I'm worried if I tell you about some of the things I've done you won't look at me the same way," Bucky said. "And I couldn't even be upset about it because I wouldn't blame you. I haven't always been a good person, (Y/N)."
"Listen to me," I said as I took both his hands in mine. "Nothing in your past will ever stop me caring about you and loving you for who you are."
"You say that now but-" Bucky said.
"But nothing. You are not that person now. All I care about is who and how you are now," I said. "And I couldn't ask for a better man."
"You know, I'll never know what I did to get lucky enough to find someone like you," Bucky said.

"I've never been so happy to be home," I said as I sat down on the couch.
"You said the same thing after Thanos," Stephen said as he joined me.
"But this was on a different level," I said. "That was a fairly basic stop the bad guy with a little bit of time travel situation. This was full on multiverse breaking."
"I know," Stephen said. "It's a whole new territory."
I moved so I was laying down with my head in Stephen's lap.
"What do you know about the multiverse?" I asked.
"Currently not that much," Stephen admitted.
"Do you think there are other us out there?" I asked.
"I'm sure it's a possibility," Stephen said.
"I wonder if our other selves are a couple too," I said. "Or if they even know each other."
"Honestly, I bet in every reality, I still find you," Stephen said with a smile.
"That's a nice thought," I said as I sat up to kiss him.
