Did anyone else ever notice that the Underworld kids are excluded even in their names?

Like Jason, Thalia, and Perseus are all mythological names based on great heroes or goddesses.

And then there's Hazel, Bianca, and Nico. Not connected to mythology at all.

I love talking about who's the oldest and youngest of the big 3 kids because it depends on how we look at it because in order from oldest to youngest,

chronologically its

hazel, bianca, nico, thalia, percy, then jason

but then physically its

percy, Jason, thalia, nico, hazel, then bianca

and I think it's a little funny to think about all of them using the "well I'm older than you !!" excuse when they wanna do smth

Grover was really out here finding and collecting Big Three kids like they were Pokémon. He really said, "gotta catch em all," and he did.

going insane about how the big three kids have never been and never can be complete, because bianca's death was before hazel and jason, and nico and percy will never feel like the family is complete without her, and estelle is honourary but she will grow up without jason and without bianca, and the big three kids are never complete and never can be and it's insane to think about that their family will never be full. thalia is barely around and hazel has too much responsibility and percy is trying to get out and nico is barely holding them together. do you get it? that there is no picture that has them in their entirety? that there is nothing that can fully encapsulate them? because every experience lacks someone, something?

I get the criticism of the Hunters of Artemis from a narrative perspective—it sucks that it essentially boots interesting female characters out of the story—but it always baffles me when people viciously hate Artemis for *checks notes* doing damage control.

Like. Thalia explicitly goes with Artemis to avoid the prophecy, and I definitely think that’s the reason Artemis tried so hard to get her to join—hell, you can view the hunters trying to recruit Annabeth as a way to get Thalia to join. And Bianca? You can’t convince me that Artemis didn’t guess there was something up there and react accordingly.

If Percy or Nico were even a little bit girl-adjacent you bet your ass she would be all over them to join. No one actually wants to risk the Great Prophecy happening, and Artemis is doing a hell of a lot more to stop it than anyone else.

I am of the personal opinion that out of all the adaptations of PJO. INCLUDING THE ONE THE AUTHOR WROTE. The most accurate, true to the story, and entertaining one is, in fact, the musical.

Like c’mon Luke’s Reprise of Good Kid? Normal is a Myth? The Di Angelo Sibling Cameo? Hades being the most homo man to exist??? GOOD KID??

All of Charon’s song is iconic. MY GRAND PLAN???? THE CAMPFIRE SONG?? LOST! ???

Luke’s Song makes me want to cry it gets the essence of his character while still making him sound INSANE. Everyone is characterized to be themselves and funny at the same time. INCLUDING ANNABETH.

And the characters can be played by ANYBODY!!

Hades kids are very much allergic to mint because of Minthe. Nico and Bianca and Hazel go though hell everyday just trying to brush they’re teeth. Eventually Nico and Hazel figured out that kids toothpaste is usually not mint flavored. Nico sticks with classic bubblegum but Hazel likes to try other flavors once in a while if she can find them. (No I am absolutely not projecting because I’m slightly allergic to mint ok this makes perfect sense for them).

bianca as a commentary on the adultification of demigod kids. bc hades never cared that she was a kid, he cared that she was a chess piece he could use to win a game against his brothers. and it didn't matter that she was a kid, she had to take care of her brother bc he was the back up and she was the only person in nico's life. so she had to take up the role of parent to make up for her mother's loss and her father's shortcomings. and when she's finally offered an out she dies to take responsibility bc it's all she knows. bc she never got to be a kid and she never got to have someone take care of her. and hades is upset she's dead not bc he cares abt her as his child but bc she was his chess piece and she was removed from the board before he got a checkmate.
