the moment in the star beast where shirley has to stay behind while the troops go up the stairs is perfect. it's not overly tragic, it's just how it is and that's that. i'm SOO so glad they didn't have like some bullshit rocket in the chair that made her fly or some shit. they just let there be a representation of an obstacle we encounter on a daily basis and have to be okay with. kissing rtd on the mouth for that.

There's not much more I can say that hasn't been said on the m*rder of Nex Benedict. There are far more people more eloquent than me speaking on this... fuck, I hate to say "topic" because this is about a child's life.
My blog is safe. I am a safe person to talk to; I'm AFAB, and in my late twenties, so I am an adult. I'm uncertain my gender identity because, more often than not, I simply don't care. It isn't important to me. But whatever yours is, whatever you identify as, you can message me. Talk to me. Rant to me. Scream, cry, laugh, whatever. You are not alone. You will never be alone.
I'm not going to sit here and write some sappy shit about "it gets better" because I don't know if it will, I just know that it can. I'm not making promises I can't keep. I don't know your situation, you don't know mine. I probably don't know you, you probably don't know me. But for your sake, if you just need to word-vomit and have the response be "rant received" or "you're seen/heard/understood" etcetera, I can do that. I'm a very busy person these days, so I can't always respond. If you find yourself in an emergency, please dial your respective emergency response number. For the US, it's 911.
I'm not licensed in anything, and I'm not going to claim to be. But I grew up in a small-ass town with a population under 3,000 people with legacy last names in the rural Midwest. My best friend is a gay man, and because of everything he went through, he didn't come out until he was in his twenties. We all could guess, but he wasn't treated kindly by some very loud voices, one of which has an uncle as the Chief of Police. The stereotypes write themselves.
I, myself, am bisexual. And I'm fairly certain my gender isn't cis, but again, I'm indifferent.
I'm not going to out you. I'm not gonna tell anyone. But for fuck's sake, please, please hold on if you can. Please. What happened-- what keeps fucking happening-- is vile, disturbing, and unjust.
Bottom Line: I wasn't old enough to hear about the first brick. I'm sure I'll be dead before someone throws the last. But never, ever stop throwing bricks until they let us live and love.

Day 10 - Jack Frost!

Nothing peculiar here ;)
Jack Frost needs no introduction. The mascot of SMT as a whole, the feral hee-homeboy of many a player, and a demon with so many spinoffs that he could be considered a race in-and-of itself! There's a reason so much of this blog heavily features him- Jack Frost is probably the most iconic part of SMT.
Based on the Jack Frost legend of European folklore, the personification of winter, ice, snow, and all things bitter and cold, this mischievous fairy loves nothing more than pranks and saying hee-ho!
Jack Frost is commonly believed to have originated as a spirit of the winter, particularly in Finnish tradition, in the form of Pakkasukko, effectively working as a Nordic equivalent to Santa, also known as Father Frost, Kung Bore in Swedish areas, or up in Slavic territories, a spirit known as 'Grandfather Frost.'
The Hindu Kush mountain range of the Himalayas has its own legend similar to that of Jack Frost as well, as, as it would turn out, the idea of a frost spirit is rather ubiquitous. The most popular interpretation, though, is the English- wait for it- Jack Frost, earliest referenced in a 1734 book titled "Round About Our Coal Fire, or Christmas Entertainments." I tried reading it for this analysis, yet it's as archaic as you'd think it would be... neither does how choppy the scan looks on the Wikimedia website.

If we're gonna keep putting Desmond in as The Isekai Protagonist then we should whole hog and add in the iconic System or Gamer System 'gift' so many other Isekai/Tensei Protags seem to get like it's the New Age Syphilis.
But with my own little twist I once proposed when I was more into KHR (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) fandom though it never really caught on. Desmond's Gamer System functions like some other games instead of the usual adventure RPG. Maybe its one, maybe its some, maybe its all of them- either way, it's certainly not something like Pokemon or the Final Fantasy series.
Instead, it's like an idle game, a match 3, a rhythm game, or a merge game. Hell, the one time he got a bingo game; he won Mega Bingo, almost got brained by the giant chest full of gold and jewels, and then it never appeared before him again.
He did like the idle cat games though. (The cats were very cute. A bit hard to explain all the cats though.)
“New Age Syphilis” lollol. Yeah, let’s give Desmond the geek-syphilis. XD
Okay, okay, okay.
If we’re going for other genres, my first thought is the scourged of the land, the anti-christ of the modern gaming world:
Loot-boxes/Gacha-mechanics
And it’s the worst kind. The kind that does not give pity ‘roll’ or have the ‘if you roll 300 times, you can pick one of these choices because goddamn your rng sucks wtf???’.
And that’s not even the genre, no, no, no.
That’s the “REWARD”.
Even if Desmond clears something via idle game, match 3, etc, he still has to do a gacha roll to get his reward.
And, to make it more annoying for him, the world he is in right now, everything has different game mechanics and it’s a whiplash at times. Sometimes, it feels more like minigames which is fine. The idle cat game is really just Desmond relaxing for the day and playing with cats.
But then, there are instances where Desmond gets a headache because…
Car chase? Boom! Racing game controls and gameplay!
About to assassinate someone? QTEs! QTEs everywhere!
Desmond gets his own land? He suddenly has game notifications and tutorials for town-building mechanics.
There’s supposed to be some kind of monster infestations? Welp. Desmond, your town-building mechanics just got pushed for tower-defense mechanics. Oh, and the shit you can build? You guessed it! GACHA ROLLS!
Want to fuck with Desmond even more?
The tutorials are just pages and pages of what he can do like someone from Koei-Tecmo made the damn thing.
You know what would be funny?
If Desmond realizes that some of the rewards he gets from the gacha rolls are his ancestors, they’re the highest USSR/6Stars reward with a probability of 3%. Goodbye slacker life, it’s time for Desmond to grind for those Isu shards just to get some sweet, sweet rolls.
(Nobody tell him that there are also Holiday alts that have a possibility of 1%)
……………………
It would be funny (in the worst possible way) if Desmond gets a final notification just when he has a very cozy life in this world and it’s:
“Thank you for playing [REDACTED]. Due to lack of interest, [REDACTED] will be ending its live-services at exactly 180 days. All data will be deleted and there are no plans to create backups. Thank you for understanding.”
And now the final arc of Desmond’s story in this world begins:
Desmond needs to find a way to create a private server from inside the game. XD

Okay, so, imagine class 1A getting hit with a quirk that means their future selves from ~10-15 years in the future will swap with them for a few hours at some random point in that week.
Imagine one of the boys swapping with their incredibly pregnant future self, their desk gets shoved onto the person in front of them because their tummy is too big to fit in the way their teenage self was sitting.
And everyone just stares at the future version, wearing maternity pyjamas, eating a massive bag of doritos and with a snuggly blanket wrapped around their shoulders.
“Well, this is a bit awkward.”
That breaks the silence and suddenly everyone has a million questions and wants to feel the tummy and coo over the bump.
Whoever is teaching cannot get the class to focus because they wanna know!! Who’s the other parent?? Someone we know?? Is it a boy or girl?? How far along?? Do any of our future selves have kids yet??
Alternatively, imagine one of the omegas turning up with an infant latched to their chest, just appearing in English class like ummm??? Okay??
Idk, I just think this would be hilarious and cute at the same time.
