i do admittedly find it a little strange that people think "killing human residents of Gensoukyou is forbidden" translates to "no human residents of Gensoukyou ever are killed by youkai". do you know about the concept of "poaching" from "real life"?

in the Vast Moor, the ruling system is fairly similar to other quivers; there's a leader –the Accipiter– and their second in command –the Noctua– but with the exception of having a third rank, the Corvus:

the Corvus has a practical role that borders on the religious. Wyvern training is incredibly important for moor runners, as such, it's obvious that someone who oversees that aspect would have a respected position of power. The Corvus is an influential advisor, playing a big role in the selection of future leaders, and is the one tasked to supervise all wyvern rearing in the quiver, being extremely knowledgeable on these creatures. Burials were another task traditionally assigned to them, but it wasn't until recently that they were allowed to do that again.

The reason for this previously mentioned prohibition is attributed to one dragon only: Shrikeshred

(cw for cannibalism mention lol) Shrikeshred is a controversial figure. Regarded as the Vast Moor's most talented Corvus in history –something clearly seen in her masterpiece book "Way of the shrike" which showcases her incredible wyvern handling abilities and techniques, some of which are still used today– that unfortunately took a turn for the worst. A famous cannibal, not much is known about what made her go off the deep end, though it is believed tensions with the Accipiter in her era and the lean times of winter season may have had something to do with it. After disappearing into thin air one day, her shadow is still cast over the foggy moors. How could anyone forget what she had done? There wasn't a Corvus for a long time, which proved detrimental to wyvern management in the quiver's territory. Some say she's still out there, waiting for the right moment to come back. The wyverns pictured here were Shrikeshred's favorites, all of them species considered untameable, especially the Death spitter, a dreaded wyvern that can spit boiling acid. So far she has been the first and only dragon to be able to train these species.

If Bruce feels the Batfam needs a refresher on the rules or some of the kids are acting out, he makes them all sit in a room together and play a gimkit for it (for those who don't know what gimkit is, it's basically interactive Kahoot where you get little people you can customize and you get put in a game together, the common themes are snowball fight (competitive, you answer questions to get snowballs to throw at people and the person with the most kills at the end wins) and fishing (more independent, you answer questions for bait to then use for fishing to then get money from it and whoever has the most money at the end wins). The kids all love it and he found it is far more productive way of teaching them the rules instead of lectures cause they are all competitive so they all learn the rules to give them an advantage in the competition.

I've been thinking about how you've made Talas' physique even MORE powerful lately. And now I'm just imagining him, one-armed, chucking Graves like the world's angriest javelin at their common enemies.

That's genuinely so in character that I had to draw it. Average hunting tactic... and Graves would be all too excited for it, honestly

I always find gun owners silly when they try to claim lacking deep intricate knowledge of guns means you shouldn't demand literally any protections from them.

Like buddy people may not know what an assault rifle actually is but does that even slightly fucking matter when it's a Point-and-Click Kill Tool?

Safety is always thrown to the wayside when people discuss why they believe guns ahould be banned, but then it's All About safety of self-defense with these people who have never shot a living target once in their lives, nor ever have been in any situation that required any need for such.

Perhaps we should not listen to those with a vested interest in the rather dangerous hobby. They seem to think having the wrong name of a gun stops the gun from killing anyone. They also seem to care about their safety over children's who are in fact dying in larger and larger numbers than these Larpers.

One big thing that gets missed in the conversation about native plants is that when considering a plant, you really should ask two questions:

1. Where, specifically, is it native to?

2. Within that region, what ecosystem conditions does it live in? Will it thrive where you intend to plant it?

I cannot tell you how many times I've come across a plant labeled as native that doesn't even grow in my state. Sure, it's native to the continent, but not this side of the rocky mountains! That's not nearly specific enough if your goal is to support endemic animal species and the overall ecosystem.

You also need to consider what conditions that plant needs to thrive. One example I see a lot of here is planting understory plants in full sun. They're stressed out, they're getting sunburnt, and they're slowly dying. People will also try the reverse, planting praire plants in deep shade, and wonder why they're all floppy and anemic looking. Plants may be native to your area, but they still have specific needs and you will have much greater success if you match the conditions you have to a plant that will thrive there.

A third, extra credit question is a two parter: is it endemic (aka, unique to your region) or does it have a a broader, or even circumpolar distribution? I mean, check out the range maps for Henderson's shooting star & twinflower:

Twinflower is found across the northern portions of Eurasia as well.

The second part is, are any of the vulnerable species in your area depending on it? An example from my area is Viola Adunca, which has a pretty broad range,

Both due to human activity (agriculture, subdivisions, etc) and human inactivity (banning the intentional burns the Native peoples did, that maintained the Oak savanna ecosystem, leading them to be "invaded" by non-fire adapted Douglas firs, another native species. Also at the same time making the region more vulnerable to bigger and more devastating wild fires).
